20 Best Shovel For Off Roading (2023 Updated)

This design works well for me and I have bought many different brands before. I do landscaping and construction. This namebrand shovel seems to handle everything I have thrown at it. It has replaced my $200++ version that I keep in both my vehicles.

I highly recommend it. Even the blades side of the shovel seems to hold an edge pretty well for chopping limbs after putting it through shoveling gravel, beach sand, and mixing concrete. Cant wait to see if they come out with any different versions or a different type of axe.

This is a very cool multi-tool. All items are included as described. The interchangeable pieces go together very snuggly and create a sturdy shovel. Each piece has a rubber gasket at the male thread end.

Very glad I purchased – will fit the bill if needed in emergency.

As mentioned in my video, I drive a small, off-road capable vehicle and I wanted a multi-functioning shovel for recoveries, camping and general use. This shovel is compact, light and fits perfectly in the back of my Subaru.

Every component is well made, sturdy and it looks great too!.

First, this is a very compact folding shovel that takes up almost no space in my recovery bag. It works great for digging mud or sand from around tires. I highly recommend it for that purpose. However, this is not a heavy duty shovel for digging in gravel or scraping dirt.

The little washer in mine that holds everything in place bent when I attempted to put more strain on the shovel blade by digging in gravel. I had to dismantle the shovel to flatten it back out. You also need to make sure when you’re using it that you keep the locking nut tight.

It tends to loosen up a little with use. Overall, this is a great little recovery tool so long as you keep its limitations in mind. And at this price I think it’s a really good value.

Great! Small enough to fit easily in my pickup. Big enough and strong enough to dig me out of any situation. Compact design makes it perfect for getting under axels and around tires.

Talk about value for money. Shovel head is about medium size for snow shovelling type work and the extendable handle is medium length as well. If you are tall and strong consider a larger version but can’t fault this product and it’s super cheap.

This shovel is perfect when you need to dig yourself out of a jam. It folds up and stores conveniently. It has many uses on the trail. A must have.

This is a great tool to have onboard your rig, folds nicely store in minimal spaces, stays locked into place while you’re using it. It also has a decently sharp edge for some minor chopping if need be!.

Product arrived, impressed when took it out of packaging. Comes with sewing kit and fish hook in twist on/twist off base of axe handle. Handsomely made. Sharp! Love that it comes with safety cover as well as rubber slip on/slip off for Axe blade.

I like to have a shovel on hand in case needed. This is compact enough that it can stay in my truck and be there if I need it. Also I won’t end up using for any routine tasks as it is small and not as functional as a full size shovel.

This way it won’t grow legs and will be in its spot under the seat in an emergency. Perfect for its purpose.

I’m not an off roader, but I carry recovery gear, and believe a shovel is as important as straps or shackles. This shovel folds up, stores nicely, and great vehicle gear, just in case….

This shovel is just OK. Good for keeping in a vehicle for an emergency but definitely not Military Specification quality. I shook it and it rattled like a box of bolts. Had to bend and tighten the area where the shovel meets the stem.

Do not think it will stand up to any hard use. Its OK from the price point but if you require a strong, military spec. , entrenching tool, spend the extra bucks and get a new or even used U. S. G. I.

AMES marked tri-fold shovel – you cannot go wrong. I thought that this was the same quality as the AMES because it looks similar but I was wrong.

Got this shovel pretty quick but I need to point this out, the shovel is made of metal except for the locking piece which was made from a cheap plastic making the shovel vary easy to break and making it impossible to use practically.

Great value and durable. Works as it’s made to do and folds up easily n quickly.

Length is OK but angle of spade is not righr for G503 jeeps. it’s pretty flimsy so I think it will bend to fit I’m building my Jeep for “image”, not show quality and it’s OK fot that.

Not as good of quality as a military issue pioneer shovel. May fit the pioneer rack with a bit of tweaking. Length is correct.

The handle is of real Hardwood- I have not tested the fit yet on the jeep, but expect no problems coming from Omix – Ada. I am repainting so that the shade of green matches my choice for my MB 1942.

you get what you pay for I suppose this thing is made as cheap as it costs. I only used it a few times to dig up some wild shrubs to use for bonsai. it definitely is not made for any sort of prying. the washer the threaded lock mechanism had caved in which essentially made the head wobbly and I kept having to tighten it so that it would lock after each time I used it to pry.

eventually the piece of steel that was designed to attach the head had bent and eventually snapping clear off the post. be warned not to use for any sort of crying I can maybe see this working for loose soil or sand but that’s about it.

ive bought 2 of these now and will not buy another! the first one wore out and snapped after about 2 months of metal detecting. i thought maybe i was being to rough on it with prying and chopping. so i bought another and was going to try and be a bit more gentle on it.

yea well i used it ONCE! in a rootless field and when i stepped on the side to push it in the ground the entire shovel head bent to the left!! DO NOT BUY THIS FOR HEAVY WORK! GARDEN WORK MAYBE. ON THE BEACH!!.

A good product at a great price. You will pay too much if you buy it else where.

Shove is good but made in tawian. It is supposed to be usgi issue. Unable to verify as it does not have a nsn number. Good value not sure if it’s Authentic or not

Very nice shovel! Used it in sand and shells on several beaches. Works well. Is a nice size to carry. Quality construction.

Most honest review you will read. At first I thought this shovel was all hype and total waste. Bought the shovel due to a sale as a vet so said what the heck I’m open enough to try and be wrong. Boy was I wrong! First it’s heavy which I like it means it’s made well.

Used it with my son and it chewed through the ground with rocks and had no issues. The coating it super tough and the shovel it way stronger than expected. I can honestly say I was wrong and this shovel is actually worth every penny.

I bought for pickup tool box so haven’t used as such. I have used around the house for testing it out. It works better than a conventional shovel but wouldn’t want to use for a long term session because of the heavy weight – a conventional shovel would be better.

It’s a tool box shovel that works well. Looking forward to using the hoe stage for clearing where hunting wall tent will be placed.

Bought this for my bruh-in-law for his b-day and he loved it. He owns a Jeep so it fits nicely in the back, out of the way and easily stored because it folds to a compact size. It’s heavy which is nice because it confirms to me the quality and long-lasting craftsmanship of this American made tool (as it should be!) The pin locking system is very nice, transforming the tool into three modes: 1) shovel, 2) folding for storage and 3) for use as a hoe.

The handles extends to three different lengths making it usable and practical for all applications. The shovel will last longer than the Jeep I predict. Anyway, buy it if you live by the philosophy of buying the right tool once.

And I always carried a hilift shovel/axe/sledge combo that really cannot fail. But I bought one of these thinking ill use it break it and make a video. well its mounted on my new 4runner build and has worked like a champ and the delta carry bracket is well worth the price as it holds it in place no rattles NADA.

The Dmos cut brand label does not match the “window” in the mounting system as shown in all Stock photos. The Dmos “cut brand” label is on the opposite side of the window in the bracket. Why cut the hole in the mount to make it look cool for marketing and do the opposite for customers? Functionality of the shovel seems good so far.

Received my pro shovel a few days ago. Fantastic piece of workmanship. Used it to dig a few holes in the yard, pry/lift a shed door back into position, and created a mount to secure it in my rig. I expect years of work and use out of this well built tool.

I love this shovel. Because of a bad back, I’m unable to stand and use regular garden tools. With this folding shovel, I can be on the ground and still shovel with a regular sized shovel instead of a hand sized spade.

It’s serrated along one edge which is useful for cutting. The reason I did not give it five stars is because the knob that you twist to tighten it doesn’t always stay tight; sometimes you need to tighten it while using the shovel.

Not a deal breaker tho. I’m very glad I bought it.

This is a nifty little spade that fits in one of those small alcoves in your boot which will be a life saver when needed; either snow or mud. Feels like quality construction and solidly built.

This is just a repackaged version of what my dad, a WWII infantry vet, called an entrenching tool. It was an indispensable accessory on all of my childhood camping trips, and just as necessary (and sturdy) today as it was back in the day.

Word of caution: Get out the blaze orange spray paint and paint it so you don’t leave it behind! The reason I bought a new one is that my husband did just that last summer, when we were packing up in the rain.

So the new one, and several other tools, are now emblazoned with that impossible-to-ignore, noxious orange.
