Some men prefer to wear shorts that are fitted or tailored to their skinny legs, while others opt for a looser or baggier style. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide what type of shorts best flatters their figure.
When in doubt, go with a classic. These Classic Fit Shorts from Dockers feature a slightly shorter inseam and an elastic waistband, perfect for summer outings to vacation destinations. Crafted in comfortable, breathable cotton, these mens shorts pair with your favorite polos, tees and button shirts for a versatile, all-day look.
I purchased these shorts because of the 8 inch inseam. The fit was perfect at the waist and inseam. The Only problem and it is a big one with me is that they are too tight. When I walk I can feel the pressure of the shorts on my knee.
Enough that even though everything else is good I cannot stand the pressure against my thighs when I walk. Now I have to fill out the return request and get the return going. Something I am not looking forward to but o guess it happens.
If you are used to relaxed fitting shorts and pants you may want to stay away from these and look for another pair. They are just too tight at the thighs.
I just received two pairs of the Perfect Shorts, one black and the other Earth Moss Green. These are very nice shorts, but as others have commented there are significant errors in how they are described on the Dockers site.
The Dockers response to others with these same observations is that “we will notify our designers. ” The problem is not with the designers, who are producing a very good product, but with a marketing department apparently not familiar with what they are selling: 1) Inseam length: Listed right at the top as 9 1/2″ and in the description as having a “slightly shorter inseam”, yet under How It Fits the inseam is listed as 10 1/2″ They measure 10 1/2″.
2) Twice they are stated to have an elastic waistband, yet the very next bullet point states that they don’s stretch. As noted under Composition and Care these are 100% cotton shorts and they do not have an elastic waistband.
3) “Features a Hidden Security Pocket with a concealed zipper”: There is nothing hidden about the “Security Pocket”, it is on the right side of the shorts, and it does not have a concealed zipper. In a previous generation of these shorts, I recall this pocket was described as a mobile phone pocket, which is how I use it.
I’ve purchased four pairs of these shorts in different colors. They are well constructed with a great fit. My wife bought these for me about ten years ago. I was hesitant to wear them because I thought they would be uncomfortable.
But I wore them to the point of ten years later and I finally had a rip. I wouldn’t throw them away. Instead I used my wife’s sewing machine to stitch the rip I made. I then went online t the website and was ecstatic to see they were still available just as they were in the past.
I believe they’re an inch longer, which is just fine. I will continue to wear them until I have to stitch any rips I make in them. I’ve been wearing them to work and they’re dressy enough to get compliments.
The side pocket for the phone is the best function allowing for wallet and other items in the back pockets. They are soft and comfortable.

These are great shorts. They are super comfortable and lightweight. The other great part is that they are very breathable and not a heavy short. They have a nice style look to them and from a great company.
Highly recommend anyone who is looking for a great, lightweight short.
It is far too early to give these shorts 5 stars. I have to see how they hold up in the washing machine. When I opened the packing and inspected the UA shorts, it was clear to see they are very well made.
The waist band is nice and thick with durable feeling belt loops. The inner waistband has silicone so your shirt stays tucked in while playing (which it did in my last round). The front button closure seems to be well stitched and appears it will last for awhile before the button falls off.
I’m 6’1″ tall and the 9″ inseam is a great length for me. I hate golf shorts that hang below the knee and constantly rub against your knee caps while walking. These shorts look more up-to-date and stylish than others I’ve seen in the store.
Great job Under Armor on creating a quality product. I’ll be sure to buy another pair soon.
I wear the shorts mostly for golf. Extremely comfortable & light weight! All around great shorts. UA knocked it out of the park on these shorts! Will buy again. Good color options to choose from. Super glad I came across the shorts.
These men’s Cordova belted messenger shorts from UNIONBAY give you the coolest in casual style and comfort. Engineered for everyone, but beneficial to bicyclists, these breathable cotton cargo shorts have a slightly tapered leg that hits near the knee.
Drawstrings at the hem allow you to adjust the length and fit of the cuffs. Eight spacious pockets tote your essentials, and a canvas web belt completes the laid-back look.
Product is is an extension tube for Sebo Felix vacuums. Makes it easier to use attachments to reach either the floor without bending so much or use several, as I have, to reach up to the ceiling without chairs or ladders.
I purchased 10 pairs consisting of 4 Green, 3 Gray, and 3 White. The white are really closer to a cottage white, or hint of yellow – and with the right tops look dressy. I purchased some in store on sale, and some online but the last two pair that came in, which I paid $30 for online, were marked in store for $24.
95. Always compare store prices to online and go with the lesser of the two. But these are great shorts. Wear well. Hardly shrink if they do. Mine haven’t – as I dry on low heat. Not sure I would need the UV protection, (50 UPF) but they do wear well for kayaking, brush clearing, in my wood working shop, or just running around town.
If you are comparing these to the original Brewha shorts then be prepared to be disappointed. The material is HALF the weight as the old style. The pockets are an absolute joke! All of them are shallow.
Who ever had the idea to negate a right rear pocket should be terminated. Most people are right handed, so moveing your wallet to a unfamiliar position WILL cause problems! But, you have a “beverage” pocket.
A friend of mine was wearing a pair of these shorts. They looked crisp, as if they had just been ironed, so I asked him about them. No, he said, they come out of the dryer looking just this good. So I ordered two pair, one in sage, one in gray.
They look great, are very comfortable and will be a staple of my summer wardrobe for years. My only regret is that fall is already here, so my days of wearing shorts are limited. Can’t wait for next spring!! The size does tend to run a little large.
I am between large and XL, the large fits me perfectly.
The Huk Next Level 10. 5″ is the ultimate fishing short built for optimal comfort and performance. Featuring our high stretch, quick drying, stain release and anti-Microbial SPF rated fabric, The Huk Next Level Short is the definition of technical performance.
The Next Level incorporates Huk’s famous ever adjustable waistband, perforated back yoke, zippered back pocket, plier and cargo pockets and gusseted crotch for maximum mobility. You’ll never want to fish without this fully featured short again.
I ordered a pair of these last year. I wore them on a charter I took later that year. Let me tell you you almost feel as though you have nothing on they’re so comfortable! Perfect for a day on the boat.
The breathability is unreal. I’m not overly sure of the durability because I didn’t use them in a rough environment. I will say I ordered three more pair in different colors if that’s a indication of me liking them.
These are a outstanding value on sale, and the fit is perfect!.
The product was mislabeled, tags said medium but they were smalls. After several attempts to get the correct size was finally told that that size was sold out. Tried to get the replacement in a diferent color and they would not.
Ended up with a refund. But now get emails of same product on sale same price and in the size I need. I feel they should have just replaced the shorts with the correct size I ordered when it was their fault of mislabeled the size and shipping the wrong ones.
I own 4 pair of these shorts. I would wear them exclusively if I had enough pairs. I like the longer length of these shorts. They are light weight and dry fast. Plenty of pockets and the waist band is nice with its stretch.
These are my go to shorts every day even when Im not on the water.
Men’s Lee Jeans Extreme Motion Crossroads Shorts – Gray – Casual shorts If you could only wear only one short for 94 days in a row, this is it. Lightweight thanks to a cotton/nylon fabric, the Extreme Motion Crossroads short features a 10.
5″” inseam, our crazy-comfortable Extreme Motion waistband, and a full, leg-to-leg inseam gusset. The features of this short make it comfortable enough for roller coasters, moving day and cheering from the cheap seats.
Per Lee’s website: Color Woodland Camo (2187026) FABRIC 73% Cotton/24% Nylon/3% Spandex_10. 5″ inseam In my experience, with these shorts and with other clothing of similar material, there’s much less chance of shrinkage than with clothing having a much higher percentage of cotton, such as the very similar Carolina Cargo Extreme Motion line.
Worth noting the Woodland Camo has more of a gray base color, and looks a bit more sun-faded, than the Combat Camo, which has more of an olive drab base color, and has a much less faded appearance. There are other color schemes available on the Lee website.
It would be great if Blaine’s would stock those as well: Black Camo, Mountain Lion Camo, and Army top that list, in my opinion. Will add that the cell phone pocket is genius, and highly functional. That feature alone has made these shorts my regular go-to.
The pull-loops on the outside flap of both cargo pockets works quite well to easily yank open the pocket for access, something i’d never considered until working while wearing these shorts, and needing pocket access while also having my hands gunked up and not really in a position to fiddle with a velcro’d flap.
Finger in pull, and pull. May seem trivial, but it is highly functional. Haven’t yet caught that small loop on something, at which point would probably have typed out a different review. ; ) Are there some minor tweaks i’d make to the Lee shorts line? Yes, but they’re probably based on my own physiology, haha.
I am going to lump the 3 pair of shorts together for this review. Each of the three hit the mark on intended use. The Carhart’s have features that facilitate actual working environments with a relaxed fit followed by slanted cargo pockets with multiple pockets on the left side and a pencil slot incorporated in the pocket on the right side.
There are also additional stitching and other “heavy duty” elements employed that Carhart is famous for. Next the Dickies. These shorts are noticeably in the “business casual” category reflecting closer fit, pockets on the rear without flaps, sleeker material with subdued diamond pattern stitching, and an overall reserved character.
Lastly, the Lee Shorts. Again, a pair of shorts that fall clearly in the “as advertised” category. The Lee’s incorporate typical fit and characteristics found in their jeans, along with long wearing material and excellent construction.
I purchased these for my spouse for Dad’s Day. Boscov’s had a better price than my Wal-Mart and more color selection I chose black. My husband uses a L and needed that extra give around the waist. Fit him wonderfly, look wonderful.
They do not over wrinkle. Very nice for going out and come above the knee and not too short either. These do give around the waistline and are the only ones that actually have them so well made by Lees.
The ZOIC Ether Shorts are a mash-up of high-tech features, fantastic comfort, and understated style, and as per all ZOIC offerings, it’s made of recycled materials wherever possible. With a strong polyester shell and UPF 50+ rating, the exterior protects for a full day out on trail.
The chamois, called the Zo-Tech, is Zoic’s highest-quality, multi-level, stretch chamois made with recycled polyester to cushion impact and reduce vibrations in the saddle. The liner is also fully removable to enhance the versatility of the Ether.
The Fusion Gusset inseam increases the short’s range of motion and eliminates seat hang-ups, while vents below the waistband in the back and down the legs promote airflow so you can stay cool on hot days of riding.
The Ether also comes with plenty of pockets — two front, two thigh, and one back — so you have plenty of room for your essentials. There’s even a dedicated media pocket for your phone or music player with a headphone cord control grommet and loop to avoid snags.
I’m going to keep this short, no pun intended! Anyway, I’ve had a pair of these now for 3 seasons, and I haven’t had any of the issues that the one star reviews gave, I think they are a quality short.
None of the zippers have failed, they are easy to open and close, and I put stuff in my pockets too so I give the pockets reasonable stress and still haven’t failed. My shorts use a snap on for the waste and not a button, so not sure if the button thing that some have screamed about is a newer thing or an older thing vs my shorts, but a button can be sewn back on.
I obviously have had no issues with the stitching, the stitching still looks like it did when I got them new. I use them once a week, then wash them in handwash mode on my washing machine, the instructions say to line dry but I throw them in the dryer on the gentle cycle, except for the liner, the liner gets air dried.
Could be my body size but I found the shorts to run a tad large, which is adjustable with the side straps band thing. Not sure if the quality has slipped over the past 3 years since I bought mine in 2019, but I am completely happy with these shorts, and they’re good for at least another season and probably more.
While the padded liner that came with mine will probably need to be replaced at some time this next year or the year after, the short itself will continue to live on. A word about padded liners and how to wash them, padded liners will take on odors so you need to rid that odor when you wash them, the best way to do that is to use your regular laundry detergent and then add a cup of white vinegar to the wash, put the wash on soak mode on gentile or delicate or handwash cycle, so I wash all my liners together with nothing else in the load.
If the odor is persistent after that then do the same as above but add a cup of baking soda on top of it all.
I bought the first ZOIC mountain bike shorts in 1996. They were AWESOME. First shorts engineered for mountain biking. Durable, good fit, removable liner, position, size and angles of pockets. Elastic and Velcro waist to adjust to my changing size.
Still have Zoic sticker on my 1991 Cannondale Mt Bike. Used the originals for 25 years but this year needed larger waist. Searched the market and ZOIC is still innovator and best designed short. The new Ether has rad colors and various lengths.
Most important for me is waist is more adjustable. Fabric light, breathable, nice hand. Pocket tweaked a little but still where I love/need them. Crotch ventilated by material no zippers. Durable pocket zipper liners.
Improved fly zipper Velcro closure. Right length and width of leg to permit movement on and off the bike. COMFORTABLE & STYLISH These are the BEST made 👍.
I have 6 pairs of Ether shorts and 2 pairs of Blackmarket shorts. Love the shorts material and durability but HATE the Velcro that fails and loses its grip and HATE the zipper. To solve the Velcro problem I use a dremel tool to shave off the Velcro and replace it with a sturdier stick on velcro which solves the problem.
To solve the zipper failings that I’ve had I take it to the Asian alteration shop down the road and have them sew a new zipper on ( have done this three times). I shouldn’t have to do this to $75 shorts but I like the material and the fit.
If Zoic could solve the zipper and velcro issues they’d be the perfect shorts.
These are high quality, well constructed shirts made by Ralph Lauren. Similar shorts sell elsewhere for $55-60. My conservative husband was hesitant to buy the “red” color, but it’s sort of a rustic brick red and he really likes it!.
This CHAPS brand of golf shorts are the perfect combination. Comfort and classy. My hubby has recently lost 40 pounds. With every 20 pounds of weight loss he goes down one size. I love shopping ebay! I know exactly what I am looking for and these will be his favorite – no matter what size he gets down to.
These shorts were a gift. Receiver said: they are comfortable, well constructed, not flimsy. Many pockets are useful for wallet, cell phone & etc. Zipper is strong ( not made of plastic). The fabric is strong & soft.
After washing, put them in dryer , take them out immediately ( after dryer cycle ends) & no need to iron. Highly recommend these CHAPS shorts.
Let your legs breathe a little. And because comfort is key, they’ve got a soft handfeel and just the right amount of stretch. Even better yet? These shorts are made with TENCEL Lyocell, a soft fiber sourced from sustainably harvested wood.
I just love the way these look on. I was I was not sure about how they would look at first but I really love the fit. I think these are going to be my go to shorts. I just really don’t have any negative feedback.

Absolutely love the bold yellow color (and it is bold!) Great fit, very comfy, and even though I’m a bit more shy about wearing such short shorts, for these, I do not mind. They are very flattering (I think it’s the color).
These would probably look good on just about anyone. I’m pretty pale, pink-hue with dark brown hair (lots of blonde highlights), and they look great. Some yellows wash me out, but these do not.
First of all, the color is gorgeous – a bright, rich yellow. The high waist is not flattering on me. It emphasizes my belly (which I do not like) and if I wear a shirt un-tucked, the shorts are too short for that.
I also have long legs and the shorts are just too short for me. (I have other shorts with this inseam but they sit lower on my hips and aren’t too short. ).
I never thought I’d love twill shorts. These have an awesome flexi waistband. They are stretchy, and a relaxed fit. I do wish they came in more colors! I love the yellow, but couldn’t get down with that UPS brown.
These shorts are on sale for a reason. They fit absolutely terribly. I am 5’8, 155lb very athletic. I fit a size small or 30 from any brand. These shorts have the most bizarre fit. The only thing going for them is they are stretchy.
Too stretchy for a casual short if that can be. The waist has stretch bands probably for comfort, but when you put things such as a phone, wallet, and keys in your pocket they slide down immediately so you must wear a belt.
They are just slightly too short (coming from a short guy), and they are too snug around the mid thigh. The stretch is there just to make them wearable, but just horrible fit and look. Returned immediately and will not buy anything from here again.
I was hoping for these to fit like the 9 inch woven shorts. I did not realize that the sides of the waist band would have the elastic sections. Because of the elastic sides, these shorts fit very loose and require a belt to stay up.
I wear a size 30 on the 9 inch shorts. I ordered the small for these 7 inch shorts and they are still too big. Because I took the tags off, I was not able to return them so I ended up having to donate them as I don’t want to have to wear a belt with the shorts.
Overall, pretty disappointed. I just wish these had the same fit as the 9 inch shorts.
The fit of 32 Degrees clothing tends to run large and is not true to what I can count on from other clothing retailers. I ordered a small size, and these shorts literally hang off my hips and feel like they will fall down to my ankles if I don’t wear a belt.
As another reviewer noted, with the extra room in the shorts, I can pull them away from my waist and see my feet through the gap. I’m 6′ and weigh 155 and just measured my waist to be 33. 5″. I typically wear a small size in shorts and pants.
The material and construction of the shorts are good, though, and I like the colors. They’re comfortable, too. I just wish 32 Degrees could be more reliable with their sizing. If you normally wear a medium size in pants and shorts, I’d recommend ordering them in both small and medium and sending back the size that doesn’t fit.

Customer service was great as I was having some difficulty finding my size. The exchange was simple and fast. Personally, I was frustrated by the amount of pocket flare. As the shorts get tighter, the flare gets more pronounced.
Even when sizing up, the flare was still noticeable. I would recommend zipper pockets to fix this, similar to what was on the now retired Oneill Locked Hybrid Stretch Walkshort. When it came to the product, I took it on a family trip to Hawaii and I noticed with light use the seams at the cuff near the end of leg were coming undone.
This allowed sand to get caught in the cuff which would take way too long to remove completely. Lastly, this is not a knock against the product, but more a technology that I would like more pants/shorts to incorporate.
5. 11 (and Bluffworks to a lesser extent) have well designed hip pockets. If there was a zippered hip pocket for these shorts, that would be awesome. These pockets are more secure and also prevent you from sitting on your personal items.
I rarely write reviews. But after having worn these shorts all week I felt the need to come on here and write a review. Whoever named these really must not have worn them. They are All Week Shorts! Really, for the So Cal heat you can literally live in these for the whole summer or all year.
Wasn’t sure about the ties. they are a bit bothersome sometimes but I realized that if I forgot my bathing suit these would do. Hiking, no problem. To work, absolutely. Got a second pair. Getting a third.
Stocking up because one day they will stop making them.
Fuego! No joke, these are the best shorts I’ve ever owned. Swam in them. Hiked in them. Wore them out to dinner in HI. Already to living in them all summer long. Super lightweight, flexible and the fit was perfect.
I’m 6′-3″ and 190lbs. Shorts are either too tight around the thigh or too baggy. These were perfect for me. 100% going to buy again.
These sunny-day stretch-cotton shorts are as comfortable, fun and versatile as your personality. Exclusive retailer 9″ inseam; 20″ leg opening; 11″ front rise; 15″ back rise (size 32) 97% cotton, 3% elastane Machine wash, line dry Imported.
This is my first time buying shorts from ASOS. I followed the fit advisor’s recommendation but these shorts were too tight in the waist and I returned them for a size up. I bought another brand’s shorts off ASOS and they fit great.
I’m 5’5″ with larger legs and S curve back. After going a size up the shorts don’t look like calypso pants on me and hit mid thigh and tight which I wanted. Felt nice and had enough stretch that the fear of ripping after bending over a few times was gone.
Since, I have ordered a couple other pairs of ASOS shorts and pants and the waist sizing seems consistent to brand which is why I didnt ding them in the review.
These shorts are marvelous! Was super worried that the material was going to feel thin or weak, but it is a great thickness and has some nice stretch in them. I was able to squat high and low all over a day of pub crawls and these shorts held up fantastic! Super pleased with them and highly recommend.
Color and quality of material were good. Button fly was a surprise! (Where did I miss that?) But mostly, the cut is definitely not slim fit, doesn’t look anything like online photos, and these were quite baggy on my.
Leg openings were of similar size to non-slim-fit shorts that I own. Had to return these.
Comfort and performance are combined in the Vuori Draft Shorts. These shorts are perfect for your next run with their performance four-way stretch material that feels smooth and soft against your skin.
Breathable and quick-drying, they also wick away sweat to keep you cool and dry. No one will know that you worked out when you run errands afterwardmdashthe Draft Shorts have anti-odor properties. Plus, Vuori thought of all of the details when they designed these shorts, including a back zip pocket with welded eyelets, side zip pockets and an interior drawcord.
Whether you are walking the dog or lifting in the gym, the Vuori Draft Shorts will keep you cool and comfortable.
I just wanted to mention that I love this brand so much, I have about 20 various articles of clothing. So of course I was so excited when they released a exercise specific short. I am a profuse sweater when I work out so clothing that are great at sweat wicking is extremely important to me.
Vuori shirts and shorts have been great at this so I expected nothing less from these new shorts. While the fit and style are amazing if you sweat a lot it tends to show. Even with the highest rated sweat wicking boxer briefs from Mac Weldon sweat pooled in all the wrong places and was visible.
Not even my Lululemon‘s do this, I hope this is addressed and fixed because I love this brand!.
Love the shorts, they are comfortable and perfect for the summer temperatures. I use them for circuit workouts and runs, so I like the fact that they are airy and dry fast. I’m a size medium in men’s, my waist is 30-31.
The only draw back is the elastic in the waist band is on the looser side, if I don’t tighten the drawstring the shorts would be to loose. So if Vuori could make the elastic band tighter the shorts would be perfect 👍.
These versatile yet sophisticated shorts are a warmweather staple in an ultrastretchy and soft fabrication. Constructed with a comfortable rise and slim contemporary leg that ends just above the knee these have a refined silhouette with easygoing style.

unfortunately very disappointed with these, the button inside fell off after first wear. Hassle to return item, and was instructed in order to get new replacement pair I had to go thru the hassle to return other pair.
Doesn’t seem right I have to spend all the time to return, a new pair should just be sent to me. Steve Robbins, cell 780-446-9220.
My Zenella dress slacks have the Inside & Button Tab support. My up scale 34 Heritage jeans do not have this; Inside Button & Tab Button Holder,? I am but only (1) person who spend my hard earned money on quality clothing.
Why do you not add the; Inside Button & Tab Button Holder, to the Jeans that you sell?.
I ordered Dawn Twill. I received Sage Soft Touch. Please send me what I ordered and a return for what you sent. Further comment. Your actual sizes vary. For example the shorts are size 36. My Charisma jeans are size 38 and are loose.
The fit of these shorts made me feel like Meg The Stallion. My friends made fun of me, calling me a “thot”. I don’t even know what that means. I just wanted shorts for the gym without the added feeling of making me feel subconscious.
No complaints, are exactly what they say. Good fit, not too tight, not too baggy, not too long. I’m 6″4 with long legs and a thin waist and the mediums were the right length for me without being too big round the waist.
The Kuhl Men’s Renegade 12″ Short provides superior comfort and performance with KÜHL’s exclusive DURALUX fabric. This easy-care material is soft to the touch, while remaining strong and breathable. With excellent anti-abrasion and quick drying properties, the Renegade also offers the maximum in sun protection (UPF 50+).
My Renegade shorts super comfortable for warm days. And they look great! The 34 size runs small — that’s ideal for me as I’d normally buy 33-waist paints. The pockets are problematic: — Velcro back-pockets are too small because the velcro closures take up a full inch of the otherwise six-inch depth (I took accurate measurements).
Certain other Kuhl rear-pockets feature a small cord loop that might make it easier to open these pockets, but they’d still be too shallow, their total six-inch depth compromised by the velcro making for a tight fit for a regular-sized man’s wallet.
— Mobile-phone pocket is too small, way too small, for the larger mobile phones including my iPhone 11 (and the 12 and 13’s are even larger!) — The side zipper pockets, while well-located and nearly invisible to others, feel super-secure and, thus, would be a great place to stash a passport.
However for regular frequent daily use, such as wallet or mobile phone, they too deep for frequent retrieval of stored items. Attached to the mid-rear belt loop there is a finger-sized flexible cord loop of shoelace-like material, apparently for decorative use.
One of those above each velcro closure would be really practical. If style and comfort are priorities than yes, wear these pants. If you want perfect functionality, take a look at other Kuhl pants.
I am a huge fan of Kuhl products. I have three pairs of the pants (can’t remember what they are called, but mine are light and super comfortable) and have about four pairs of their shorts. Two are 12″ and two are 10″.
The first pairs I bought probably 8 years ago had a soft and stretchy material and other than the side pocket getting ripped when caught on a table, were just a super comfortable product to walk around in or go out for an evening.
Last year I ordered two more pairs of the charcoal gray and while they are excellent and very durable, the material is no longer the same soft and stretchy as my previous pairs and are modestly heavier and not as comfortable.
It is still a very good product but I can’t give it five stars. Now the pockets are tremendous. There are a lot of them and one can easily take a cell phone to walk around in comfortably and have had no issues at all.
I love the zippered lower pockets so I can put a money clip in without any worry of it falling out or being pickpocketed. The 32’s fit me perfectly (6 ft, 160-165) and I like the 12 inch inseam more than the 10’s.
I work in NYC Film and TV production as a grip. I’ve had two pairs of these shorts (2016 and 2017 purchases) for 5 years now and they are awesome. Activities they’ve held up to include crawling, kneeling, stepping into condors, climbing sets, ladders, and grids, constructing sets, unloading lumber orders.
Hands down they’re great. I wouldn’t consider them as quick wicking as my other set of shorts (Mountain Hardware) but as a durable, stretching, forgiving fabric, I’m usually dry in 40 minutes or less after getting caught in a NYC summer shower.
I’ve never had a hole or run in the fabric in them but some of the stitching of the pocket liners and velcro for the back pockets is starting to pull. The khaki shorts don’t like pen ink spills. hands down would buy this great pair of shorts again.
I have many athletic shorts from many brands. I am very impressed with the outstanding quality of these. Attention to detail is evident. The fit is superb and shows off the legs while also providing great stretch and comfort.
Designed for heat and humidity, these cool-wearing, breathable shorts are made of a soft and airy fabric blend of 76% organic cotton/24% hemp plain weave. Classic flat-front chino styling with double-needle belt loops makes them appropriate for almost any social setting.
They feature a zip fly with button closure, two slanted side-entry front pockets and two welted back drop-in pockets. And they’re Fair Trade Certified sewn, which means the people who made them earned a premium for their labor.
I have used Patagonia Stand-Up shorts for decades and decided to try these. First of all, they are 76% cotton and 24% hemp but I guess “lightweight mostly cotton with some hemp shorts” wouldn’t work from a marketing point of view.
They ARE vey lightweight but not to the point that you would worry about them holding up. What surprised me is how very smooth, roomy, and airy they are – perfect for hot weather. I would buy them again with no hesitation.
I’ll have to get back to you at the end of summer on well they hold up.
This is about my 6th or 7th pair of SUS’s since 1985 or so and I’d like to rate them collectively. The best qualities about SUS always was their fit, but mainly their toughness. I had two pair of SUS from the 90’s that were worn from April to November every year.
those shorts went at least ten years before developed thinning material and holes, but they still kinda stood up when taken off. The shift occurs at some point in the 2000’s, my Wife hides the SUS’s with holes on the front thigh area which I liberate at times much to her chagrin.
I love my SUS’s, but there are some issues that I had noticed and here they are: The last three pair of SUS’s developed thinning material on the front, which leads to stress tears and lack of standing when set on floor.
Stress tears occur while sitting down, the cuff stays on the knee cap which results in a four to six inch horizontal tear. BTW I’m six-three and two hundred and ten pounds, I’ve had eleven joint surgeries and not as active as I once was.
These tears only occur on the seven inch inseam not the fives. In my opinion, the post 2005 material seems to be less UV resistant. I can tell when sewing the margins with mackerel thread that the material is weakened.
My wife just got me a new pair for the holiday, so now we have a starting point to see how long these SUS’s remain Fancy Eating Shorts before turning to Embarrassing the Wife Shorts. However it should be at least five years before the shorts get any holes, not one or two years.
All I ask is that you please maintain your quality program and vendor purchasing to your customers advantage like the early 1990’s. Thank you for your valuable time and consideration. Regards, Jerry McDonnell.
Nice weight fabric, and I really wanted to like these, but durability is lacking. After just 2 weeks of wear (around the back yard, running errands – no “outdoor” activities) there are three or four nicks in the fabric and the pocket edge is starting to fray.
I was expecting more from a hemp fabric, touted for its durability. Since I live in Arizona, I was hoping to wear these heavily through a couple of summers but it seems I’ll be lucky if these survive one.
Definitely not worth the price tag. As my first Patagonia purchase, I’m now wondering if all their products are similarly overpriced, even in spite of their broad-view ethos.
These Bermuda shorts are crafted in micro-textured fabric, enriched with stretch for comfort and longevity. Cut in an original fit, they’re relaxed yet smart looking with straightforward detailing to ensure versatility.
Spun in a yarn dyed micro texture fabric with tonal heavy top-stitching, these shorts feature functional Front slant pockets, belt loops and rear welt pockets with buttoned flaps.
These are made of a light, slightly textured fabric that has a bit of stretch. Very breathable, and comfortable in the heat. They look polished, no workout wear vibe going on here. The back flap pockets give a bit of a rugged look, while the rest of the shorts are streamlined.
True to size. I’m burning my husband’s ancient cargo shorts now ;).
Purchased as a Christmas 2019 gift, wore these 3 times before an issue arose. Fit and length were fantastic, however the durability of these shorts are awful. Brushing past a kitchen counter or a table or possibly chairs somehow caused a small cut across the thigh section of the shorts.
As this wasn’t a fault of the product, I was told I could not replace/swap them. Which in my mind is completely and utter unacceptable for a pair of shorts valued at “$150” to not hold up for more than 1 month with normal wear and tear.
Will be avoiding Rodd & Gunn from now on, which is a shame as I have purchased polo’s from them before and would have considered purchasing again.
I bought these shorts for my husband just before Christmas and they look great on him, a really good cut and fit. Good quality fabric with some stretch for comfort, he really liked them. They were fairly expensive but worth it, they were on sale so I bought him another two pairs in different colours which look just as nice as the navy blue ones.
