20 Best Shorts For Big Thighs (2023 Updated)

Thought I was getting two trendy pairs of 501 cut downs, which in part I did, but they come with a peculiar dirty print not clearly shown in the photo. This makes it look like you have spilt your dinner (or worst) all over you.

Had to wear a pair as was going on holiday, now have an expensive unused pair (with its labels), at home, perhaps the marketing for this review might lead to winning the prize draw for a review, which in turn will have made the purchases worthwhile?.

I like these shorts! You can’t go wrong with Levi’s! But, they are a little big on me. I ordered a 16W & probably needed a 14W. They are big around my thighs. I’m not familiar with “Women’s” sizes. I’m hoping they will shrink when I dry them!.

Got these originally in blue and they fit my boyfriend really well. He’s into the gym so awkward to buy for. Once the blue fit well I had to re buy in the darker colour. Really suits him and he’s happy!!.

Before I say this, I will freely admit I did not spend as much time checking the measurements as I should have before I bought, so that’s on me. But ultimately, these are far too tight and constricting, which does not happen with other brands of the exact same measurements.

On top of that, the drawcord slots tore after one wash, so I basically have to almost treat the cord in half to make it tight enough to tie together. I’ll keep buying casual shorts from you, but my first athletic shorts purchase has steered me away from that line of product for good.

I own several pairs of these shorts and they are the best for working out. I recently ran a marathon in these and they were beyond comfortable. I love that I can keep my phone comfortable in my pocket even while running.

The zipper back pocket is nice as well. I use these for running, biking, and weightlifting. Basically everything. I’m a female and I wear the 5. 5” in medium. I’m 5’6” and 165 lbs.

These Secret Agent Compression Lined shirts instantly became my favorite clothing item. Workout? Check. Swimming? Check. Lounging? Check. Pajamas? Check. I love these so much I bought a second pair. Seriously, these things are the best!.

Firstly can I applaud Brooks for making longer women’s running shorts, because they are very hard to find, and we don’t all want to run in skimpy short things (and men’s shorts would suggest they have zero effect on performance).

I have to admit that when I first tried these on they looked a bit weird (and I do concur with other reviews that the side pockets are unnecessary and gape – and I am not sure the vented flap at the back is necessary either – I have some of the older style with the overlapping slit at the side and the pockets closer to the front, which I think works better).

I also wondered whether the legs were too fitted for my chunky quads and one leg looked like it might get caught up. However, I kept them and set out on a run, including going up several flights of stairs, and I have to say, they were excellent! So I was very happy with them on a run.

And I feel comfortable in these shorts doing things like going in local Parkrun and having my photo taken.

It seems like most brands are moving in the direction of only offering high-waisted running shorts with bigger liners, and Brooks’ new 3″ Chaser shorts are no different. I really, really liked the previous version of these shorts – my only suggestions for improvement were to widen the liner width between the legs (i.

e. the fabric that covers the crotch) and add a zipper to the pocket or add an additional key pocket inside. So I am disappointed overall with the update. The high-waisted design isn’t comfortable to me to run in (I’m 5’8″, 130 lbs and wear a size small) – the waist band is basically too big at that level on my body, but I have athletic glutes and thighs so a XS didn’t solve that fit issue.

I dislike the new “hipster” style of the liner, as well. Likely it’s a result of setting the waistline higher, but I find that the seam hits my hip at an unflattering length and angle, and bunches no matter what.

I have a big butt for my body shape and the liner is way too big! The bikini liner style works better on my body shape, typically. I do like the new fabric a lot, although I really liked the old Chaser fabric, too.

And the addition of more pockets, especially the zipper on the back, is a big improvement. Brooks, PLEASE consider making another running short option, similar to the previous version of this style, with a bikini-style liner and a lower rise.

That way, women have multiple options depending on their fit preferences and body shapes.

Let me say, I really like the fabric and comfort of these shorts. However, I am a type one diabetic with an insulin pump. I am not a distance runner and I need to run with my pro max size phone, my pump and candy.

A big reason I purchased the pants was because I was excited about all the pockets. They did not work well for me. I found them very small, including the back zipper pocket. I was able to place my pump in one of the side pockets and candy in the other but there was no place for the phone.

When I tried to put it in the back pocket I couldn’t get past the zipper. As I said, I loved the construction and comfort of the pants but I was very disappointed in the difficulty with the pockets.

These run super small. I always purchase a bigger size because I prefer looser fitting clothing, and these have either been mismarked or they are typically 4 sizes smaller than what you would expect.

Fabric had an oblong stitching that was white, it was strange and looked like someone tried to sew over it to cover up. Returning pants..

My teen son has worn these shorts for years and they hold up well! They look good on him when he was shorter like 5’2 and now that he is taller 5’10. We needed to size up and get new colors. They always have plenty of room, never tight.

They wash well, keep color, keep their shape and look cute on. My son loves them. He wears them year around to school.

Got these in the green and the red, for a family member, when they went on sale. They found them comfortable in the crotch area, liked the pockets and the side stripes, plus found them good with sports shirts.

Hope they hold up well in the washing machine over time. Need more colours pls and the sales are appreciated.

Old Navy is about the only place I can get shorts that will fit my son with disabilities. Even the big and tall places don’t always carry a 3 or 4X, and the price at these other locations are crazy. These shorts are great quality, wash up great and are very reasonably priced.

I have no idea what is going on with these shorts. I have bought multiple pairs over the years and just bought three more pairs for the first time in four or so years. Each of the previous pairs was (and remains today) definitely a size 32 “traditional fit,” like every other pair or shorts or pants I have worn for decades.

I could barely zip up the latest batch. I could not believe how much smaller they are then all of my pervious pairs. They remind me of those silly jeans that you see a lot of these days: very uncomfortable!.

The Comfort First Knockabout is a nice “chino” fabric, thicker and heavier than the typical chino. While I was not impressed with the design of the “comfort wais”t and returned the shorts, I have purchased 5 pairs of the Knockabout Chino Shorts in the traditional fit and found them to true to size.

I prefer the longer-length shorts and while 11 inches is a tad too long, the other options being much too short. I found (measured) the inseam to shrink one-half-inch on each pair after the first washing.

That is fine with me because at 10. 5 inches, it is a much better fitting short. There was no shrinkage in the waist area. The sewing of the shorts is top-notch. No shortcuts on the zipper and the tab is large enough so it doesn’t become lost.

Another great Landsend product.

I just purchased three pairs of this short to replace other that have worn out. I have worn these khaki shorts for at least thirty or more years. The recently purchased are not quite the same as previous purchases.

I noticed immediately that the front pocks are less deep than older versions, the from fly and zipper seem shorter, the rear pockets are adequate. Please do not skimp on quality when you have had a history of quality.

I bought these shorts for my SI modern and jazz classes. When I first tried them on, they felt great. They were comfy, fit snugly without being too tight, and were flattering on me. In my haste, I didn’t think to move around in them first before taking the tags off.

The shorts reach about mid-thigh on me, maybe a little higher. Once I got to my first dance class in them, as soon as we started moving, the shorts started riding up. Although the fit didn’t feel at all too loose, the pant legs kept riding up as I moved until it was no longer than underwear.

This was only on the inside of each leg, the outside stayed in place. Perhaps this is because I have chubby thighs which rub together as I move around. Perhaps a skinnier person wouldn’t have this problem.

But without knowing that, I can’t recommend these. The shorts will do for now, but it’s irritating to have to tug the inside of the legs down all the time, especially since the shorts seemed so promising when I first tried them on.

These are very comfortable and they stay in place. I wore them while performing in Egypt and they withstood the heat without excessive sweat. I highly recommend.

I like that these jazz shorts are a bit longer than most. They are not too long, but do add a bit more coverage. My complaint is that they just are sized really bad. I measured my two girls, and got the next size up from the measurements.

I was a bit worried they would be big. However, they are still too small – really small. It is a pain to try to return, and I would be out postage. I don’t think I can order clothing from Dancewear Solutions again because their sizing is so unreliable.

I’ve been searching for a place that sells clothes that fit all big mens body types. I decided to try DXL to my surprise, they catered to all body types of big men. Since then, I buy something every other week.

I’ve gotten many of compliments in regards to the shorts that I bought a few weeks ago. This is a great store to frequent. especially for us bigger men!.

These are like the greatest shorts! They are so soft. VERY comfortable. Feel like your wearing sweats that are shorts. They have the right amount of stretch and give for all day comfort. Not to heavy or light of a fabric but just right!.

These shorts are the perfect length and they are made from great material. I’ve washed them a few times already and they still look brand new. Very stylish as I’ve gotten several compliments on the style and plenty of room in pockets fro cellphones, keys, etc.

I was hoping for these to fit like the 9 inch woven shorts. I did not realize that the sides of the waist band would have the elastic sections. Because of the elastic sides, these shorts fit very loose and require a belt to stay up.

I wear a size 30 on the 9 inch shorts. I ordered the small for these 7 inch shorts and they are still too big. Because I took the tags off, I was not able to return them so I ended up having to donate them as I don’t want to have to wear a belt with the shorts.

Overall, pretty disappointed. I just wish these had the same fit as the 9 inch shorts.

The fit of 32 Degrees clothing tends to run large and is not true to what I can count on from other clothing retailers. I ordered a small size, and these shorts literally hang off my hips and feel like they will fall down to my ankles if I don’t wear a belt.

As another reviewer noted, with the extra room in the shorts, I can pull them away from my waist and see my feet through the gap. I’m 6′ and weigh 155 and just measured my waist to be 33. 5″. I typically wear a small size in shorts and pants.

The material and construction of the shorts are good, though, and I like the colors. I just wish 32 Degrees could be more reliable with their sizing. If you normally wear a medium size in pants and shorts, I’d recommend ordering them in both small and medium and sending back the size that doesn’t fit.

This is my third pair of these shorts. I first tried the women’s, but had to return them as they just didn’t fit. I’m long waisted and needed more room. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try the men’s–and my bf wears the same size, so I could gift them to him.

But these fit me fine. I have curves, doesn’t matter. They are nice and cool and even better–they have REAL pockets, something sorely lacking in many made for women items today. I like a longer length, these fit that too.

Good 5 inch short. Comfortable. Main thing for this short is the built in liner is close to a boxer jock which is good vs just a tight liner with no anatomy in mind. It actually works. I think it is true to size.

I am usually a medium. Maybe if you are on the larger size of medium you should try a large. Good pockets for a 5 inch.

The pockets are white under the sheer blue shorts. The pockets are completely visible through the shorts, why are the pockets white and not sheer blue? The back side of the pockets ARE sheer blue, yet the white faces outward, causing them to be completely visible? This seems like a major oversight.

Shorts have good supportive lining and many pockets. I like the length – not too long nor too short. Giving then 4 stars instead of 5 because they slip down during run when I have my phone in pocket.

I have to tighten the drawstring to prevent this. Not a big deal but I do not have to do this with other shorts – I just use the elastic. This may be because the phone pocket is on one side and not centered.

I have purchased 4 pairs of these shorts. The fabric is feels silky smooth against my skin, and is stretchy, breathable, and highly washable. The fit is so comfortable I can hardly tell I’m wearing them.

I am somewhat apple shaped and find some waistbands dig in or roll. The waistband on these does neither. It sits smooth and flat and stays put, but has enough stretch and give that I never notice it.

I also appreciate the longer length. At 5′ 7″, with long-ish legs, I’ve ordered some in the Tall and some in the regular length, since I wanted to try both. I ended up concluding both were fine and didn’t send any back.

It’s hard to find comfortable shorts that are truly knee length. The Tall should accommodate women substantially taller than I am. My only complaint and/or suggestion is that a cell-phone pocket would be great.

There is a tiny pocket in the waistband large enough for a key or, barely, a credit card. But working in the yard, going for a walk or hike, or even just around the house, I’d like to be able to keep my cell phone handy.

A pocket big enough for a smart phone on the hip or thigh would be a great addition.

I bought two pair of these shorts last year and two more pair this year because I loved them so much and wore them almost everyday. Super comfortable! The material is fabulous! They wash up beautifully! True to size! The only thing that could make them any better is if they offered them with an outside cell phone pocket option.

I can’t say enough good things about these shorts – I am pear shaped, kind of tall, and plus sized, and these shorts fit me perfectly (XL seems to fit like a 1X) – snug without being too tight, slimming but very comfortable, good for activity or for lounging.

Thicker fabric, and do not wrinkle. I have several pairs now, in black and navy – I love them in the summer, but also wear them like undergarments now that it is cold! 🙂 They come down to just above the knee, and come up halfway up my torso, so they almost act like looser shapewear.

The only down side to these is that they do not have pockets, but if they did, these would be the only things I ever wore!.

New Mexico has one of the coolest flags in the union. These shorts don’t disappoint. Fit is perfect. although I have wide hips and should probably wear a medium, but the large was the best option. I’m 5:11 and 160 lbs.

My son had asked me to get them these really expensive running shorts, and right before I purchased them, he got his 1st pair of BOAs with his cross country team. I remember wearing them myself years ago and told him about them.

After going through many brands over the years he finally listened to his old man! GO Boa!.

These shorts are incredibly comfortable. The waist band sits high – and doesn’t roll down even during strenuous weight training sessions. The pockets are AMAZING – the standout feature IMO. The fabric seems to be washing and wearing well (so far), breathes well too.

Should be noted, they are NOT squat proof, nor particularly supportive (esp for those who prefer a firmer fit)… perhaps they are a touch too big ? Regardless, I am happy with my purchase and would still recommend for running walking hiking etc.

I am a AU 12 and ordered the medium.

I ordered these in a size large. I have a 32inch waist, 43inch hips and 26inch thighs. These are a little loose on my waist, perfect on the hips but very tight around my thighs. The first few wears left me with marks that took a while to fade and were a little painful.

After 5 wears and no washes they have loosened a bit but I worry the seam won’t last as long as it must of weakened during wear. I would give 5 stars if the thigh opening was graded in a way that reflects the size of the waist.

I feel for women who won’t be able to fit these. I am a NZ/AU medium and struggled. I’d suggest going up a size because I fit medium Boody undies, basic tights, and bras but had to go for a large in these.

My friend did also. In saying that, the quality and thickness of the fabric is excellent, no undie lines, looks very smooth (apart from where they end on my thigh and my thigh buldges out). The pocket design is perfect, I slide my phone into it and it is secure and does not bother me at all.

The waistband is high and very supportive. Will I buy again? Yes. I will be buying the long pair soon. I think the quality is reflected in the price, and it is hard to find workout tights that aren’t made of plastics.

I do hope Boody bring these out in grey.

These are my favorite shorts I own. I got them in red then ordered them in all the colors last year. They provide the perfect amount of compression for my lower mom belly while hugging my back enough to make my butt look great.

I wear a size 12-16 and ordered a large and the fit is perfect. I love them for all occasions from hiking, gardening, to just relaxing. They support me and make me feel and look so good. And yes, they are Squat proof!!.

I’m someone who hates the feeling of things “jiggling” when they run, and these do a great job of keeping everything together. I love the thickness of the material, and these are 100 percent worth the price.

I’m going to buy them in every color because it’s all I want to workout in now! They’re a little short, but they have just enough length so that you’re not flashing everyone your cheeks. Lol trust me— you’ll love them.

I’m about 5’7” and around 115-120, and the small fits me great. Could’ve went up to medium as well.

I really, really wanted to love this product. First time I bought a S/M (per their sizing chart), however, it was extremely tight around my upper waist and rib cage area and kept rolling down. I thought maybe I needed a bigger size, so I returned it and got a L/XL.

Well, same issue. Extremely tight around upper waist and rib cage, which I could except and manage; but it still kept rolling down. I have something similar that I purchased from Amazon about 4 months ago, no rolling or falling and fair core control, but I was looking for something a little bit stronger in the core area, so I found SKIMS and thus began my addiction.

Unfortunately I have to turn down this product. I don’t want to say I would not recommend, but I will say give it a try and see if it works for you, but do so with this caution. I am 5’2, 143lbs with a post-pregnancy belly “pooch”.

My waist line does curve in and I was hoping the shape-wear would kind of hug me there, but it was a no. The material is smooth and oh so comfortable but did not work for me.

This shapewear delivers all that it promises, and more. The thought, and attention to detail that went into designing this product is clearly evident. It has the perfect amount of compression (can wear it all day, no problem).

I’m a plus-size woman, with a natural hourglass shape, so finding shapewear (and clothes 🤦🏾‍♀️) that fit my butt, thighs and small waist is always a challenge. This product accomplished that feat like it was nothing!!! The fact that the level of compression changes at the bottom of the leg openings to prevent rolling and that ugly line where other brands dig into your thigh is by far the best feature.

I mainly use shapewear to smooth dimples and minimize the jiggle, but this one has me feeling’ myself! I was SNATCHED and the bodycon I wore it with, fit like second skin. To the design team at Skims, y’all did that!!! It’s affordable, comfortable, multiple shades and filled the gaps where the other brands failed.

My holy grail undies were discontinued a few years ago (different brand), and I’ve been looking for a replacement since then. I have tried a bazillion different kinds but didn’t like any of them until these.

I want plain cotton undies that are full coverage, don’t roll up the butt or down in the waist, and are high waisted but not over my belly button. These are perfect! I am a size 29/8 (41-29-42) and according to the size chart should get a M.

I ordered a M initially, and while they were comfortable, the butt was slightly loose. If I wore tight pants of any kind the undies would roll up when I pulled up my pants, and create a very thick and obvious panty line.

I sized down to a S and they are perfect. No rolling and they are not too tight anywhere. (I wear a M in the fits everybody boyshort, these seem to run bigger than those. ) They wash really well and seem like they will last a long time.

I have already ordered a dozen pairs and plan to order more, so that all my undies are Skims. I highly recommend to anyone wanting full coverage undies!.

I usually swear up and down by Alo Yoga’s quality (and still do with their leggings), but these shorts have left a lot to be desired. On the plus side, they have a soft waistband and slightly baggy fit that I was looking for.

The fabric was also super soft after a machine wash + dry. On the down side, after I wore these shorts with my backpack for a 10-minute walk in the city, I found patches around my hips/butt where the backpack made contact with the shorts, and the fabric had immediately started pilling.

It is extremely obvious touch-wise, and you can even see it (despite being black shorts). For the price, you’d expect the fabric to withstand more than just one wear. I had high hopes for these being my new everyday-shorts, but it has undeniably been my most disappointing Alo Yoga purchase yet.

For reference, I am a 5’5″, US womens size 10, and wear size L in all Alo Yoga.

They’re soft because the fabric is like a soft baby blanket type material that’s fuzzy and pilling. They’re comfy but look cheap. But they’re not cheap lol. Secondly, if you want these to be cute and loose and you’re inbetween sizes go up and they’ll fit more like the model.

I’m a small and got the small and they ride up my butt and crotch. They’re not cute gym/lounge/run errand shorts, they look like pajama short-shorts. I have no bias towards this brand so this is me keeping it ULTRA real.

They should be like $20.

I had these in my wishlist during the anniversary sale and was so excited when they became available for a hot second for me to buy. I feel like they run slightly small? I wear a large in most bottoms and these fit, and fit ok, but they is definitely not room to spare.

Also, the built in underwear, the way it’s cut it almost like a medium bum coverage swim bottom, which in workout shorts I’d prefer more or a full coverage to feel more comfortable. That said, it doesn’t feel like it would ride up.

I think I’m going to keep these bc I’ve been on the hunt for shorts this color, but they aren’t my best or most comfortable workout shorts for sure.

i was really excited to get these shorts! unfortunately, the material is quite thin (though not sheer!) and they ride up a lot, causing chafing. i like to wear bike shorts under dresses for extra coverage and to avoid chafing; but these aren’t great for walking around.

i don’t mind them when i’m lounging in the house, however. they’re also shorter than i expected, but that wasn’t the biggest issue. maybe they’re better for people who’s thighs aren’t very thick? not sure.

they’re still cute, but not at all what i expected or was looking for.

I wasn’t super sure what to expect with these but after I tried them on, they’re perfect for lounging. I love wearing them under one of my oversized flannels and you can’t even tell I’m wearing pants.

Sometimes I forget I’m wearing them because they’re so comfy and lightweight. I will most likely order more in the future. And because I find this info useful when looking at reviews, my waist is about a 32 (what I wear in Levis) and I can usually wear a size 14 or 16 depending on the brand.

A large generally fits me pretty good so that’s what I got and they fit perfectly.

i received these a few weeks ago and have worn them at least half of the days since. great for sleeping, working out, running errands- pretty much everything i do i can wear them. super comfortable and fit my body without feeling tight or uncomfortable.

i usually wear a medium in parade underwear but a large/xl in other pants so i went with a medium and they fit perfectly. about to buy some more!.

These are cute and flattering. I have leggings in medium and the fit is good for me. I sized up to large when I’m usually a medium just to make sure they weren’t too tight being short shorts and didn’t want them to look too tight.

They fit comfortably without being too loose. They are short if you’re worried about that – but length works well for me.

I got these in size medium. I’m typically a size 10 UK size. They have the right amount of stretch. They are rather short compared to the normal biker shorts. I mostly wear these around the house or in the garden, the next pair I buy will be the longer design however the overall quality of these are just brilliant.

Somehow these made my fupa look bigger than what it is. Mind you I’m very much midsize and don’t usually have an issue with my lower belly lol. But they were very comfortable and the material felt great, just not the most flattering.

I bought a pair of the navy and kelp stretch shorts. First off, the kelp pair were canceled even though they were still in stock with no reasonable explanation from CS. The navy pair fit well, but as a longtime purchaser of Penguin products the quality continues to deteriorate every year.

The shorts I bought two years ago have pleats from the plastic that cannot be ironed out. One pair has a rip. This year the blue ones are severely fading after washing only three times. My old P55 Penguin shorts, without the plastic stretch are still going strong.

The two button up shirts I bought claim to be slim fit but they’re fit like they’re a size bigger and classic fit. Sadly, the deteriorating quality means I will likely be looking for another brand to purchase next year.

I give this company a 1 Star for their business practices. I bought these shorts on a end of season sale. I ordered these online I didn’t realize until I checked out that I was charged full price of $65 instead of the sale price of $34.

99. I have sent several emails requesting a corrected price adjustment and get the most absurd answers blowing me off with no attemps to correct the pricing. I don’t recommend buying anything from this company.

These shorts are really great. Great quality, look great on too. The ribboned belt is a great feature as these can be worn with or without a belt, yet still look finished. The slim fit is true to size too.

The Bermuda cut just above the knee makes for a dressy short too. Great for resort or golf.
