20 Best Shooting Sticks For Rifles (2023 Updated)

I bought this and took it out hunting the same day. The next day, I took it out hunting and the rubber piece that fixes both sticks together snapped. Fortunately, I was able to fix it with a piece of rope I had in my pack and finish my coyote hunt.

If I wanted to tie two sticks together with yellow rope I could have done that for two dollars. When I spend forty dollars on two sticks and a piece of rubber I expect a little more. Do not buy this.

I will return these Bog Pod Dead Silent Shooting Sticks and tie together the two poles that came with my snow shoes, put some hockey tape on the handles, and have the exact product that BOG intended to produce with this waste of aluminum.

2 stars because even though it broke on the second use, I was able to fix it in the field with rope.

I have used this for 5 field days so far. They came in handy real quick, the first day I had them I harvested a cow elk. In that situation I would not have been able to get a shot prone due to high sage brush.

They are rock solid and hold the crosshairs dead on. I have also been doubling them as a trekking pole to assist in steep terrain and to cross creeks.

I bought these shooting sticks really look good have not tried them yet but will try them soon again great product and affordable price

I was looking for an one handed, adjustable shooting stick for stalking and blind hunting and came across this stick. It is half the price of the other stick and works just as well. The button is super responsive and the brake does not move when you let go.

The stick is spring loaded so there is always a little tension on the stick so it is not just going to drop out from under you. The only draw back is that you have aluminum sliding on aluminum so it can make noise during adjustment.

I have adjusted it in the blind with deer less than 15 yards from me and they never flinch or alert. The “Y” rest can get loose if you stalk a lot so keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t unscrew and come out on you.

Super comfortable handle. The rubber tip on the end of the stick can be removed for a sharp point for better traction in dirt but I hardly remove mine. The rubber tip makes for a good critter killer while your in the blind also and it won’t tear your blind up.

Very lite, yet very sturdy. Quality product materials and workmanship. Easy to adjust to required height and offers great stability while aiming. Highly recommend. Buying another as a gift to nephew.

I spoke to someone else who bought this same stick and they said they were mostly satisfied, but that the rifle support had some play in it. I found the same thing. I found a void around the bolt that connects the head to the base and filled it with some Teflon tape and wrapped some more on the threads and it now feels solid.

One of my most valued hunting tools. Never go anywhere without it. The versatility is amazing. When guiding elk hunts it is awesome for glassing and as a shooting stick then once we have an animal down it serves as a pole to help keep my balance while hiking out of the canyons.

It is always in my hand everywhere I go. I’m always asked about it by every client and have had a few return with one of their own. Unfortunately the top connection piece broke on me a week ago during a hunt but after 4 years of hard use I’m definitely satisfied, heartbroken but satisfied!.

This is a great option for hunting, especially when having to pack in somewhere! We are filming our elk hunt this fall and weight is REALLY important to consider. I love that this doubles as a trekking pole when necessary.

The design of the hight adjustment is really convenient because it’s a quick twisting motion, as opposed to having a clip or button style for adjusting the height. The maximum capacity also covers most camera setups that you’ll ever carry into the mountains.

I AM USING IT IN A POP-UP GROUND BLIND AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED HOW IT COULD BE ADJUSTED FOR THE HEIGHT OF THE WINDOW CAUSING YOU T0 BE MUCH MORE STEADIER FOR THE SHOT. VERY SATISFIED WITH THIS SET UP.

This item arrived too late for a planned western deer hunt. As a matter of fact, I received an email from SG approximately two weeks prior to the hunt letting me know the eta. The email allowed me to click on “Cancel Order”, so I did do that.

I was surprised to see an email weeks later stating that my order had shipped. I had already purchased an alternate item. Now I either have another shooting stick that I do not need or will have to return this one and probably will have to pay shipping charges for the item I thought I had cancelled.

It’s a decent shooting stick, not great. I got one that I like better and saved $20.

After exhaustively researching all the available choices for a shooting stick solution, I chose Vanguards shooting tripod. I like the tripod (bipod & monopod) availability of choice. That way, whether I am still hunting or stand hunting, it works! The third tripod leg will freely move all the way up to a 90 degree angle, as needed, in creating a rock-solid shooting support.

I’ve read comments about the slightly heavier weight. The weight isn’t that big of a deal, no more than a regular camera tripod it’s size. Plus, with the legs extended, its still rock solid even in a wilderness breeze.

I like being able to remove the yoke for optic use. I love the U shaped yoke because it cradles my 30/06 and 12 gauge shotgun like a glove. I especially enjoy the fact that the recoil of my weapon doesn’t cause me to have to re-adjust everything for another shot,.

like much lighter shooting sticks with V-shaped yokes. In a pinch, struggling with a lighter shooting stick “in the heat of battle” can become a terrible wrestling match. My only advice for the buyer is to be careful and don’t loose any parts when removing the yoke.

In the field when the adrenaline is pumping and buck fever has got a hunter mesmerized, this can be a problem. Otherwise, its no problem at all. I’ve tried homemade shooting sticks and lesser (lighter) bipods and monopods, but they all have their issues in the field when the action starts.

In my personal experience and opinion, I would classify this as one of the best on the market and the last shooting stick you’ll ever buy.

This is the best tripod shooting stick on the market. I have had mine for 5 years and still going strong. You just can’t beat it for those situations when you are hunting on the ground. I drape a 3 D camo over the tripod when hunting and can stay almost completely hidden.

Wouldn’t leave home without it. Sets up in seconds on any terrain. Very steady. Heavy duty and very high quality. Get ya one!.

This monopod is way more than I expected, it has a ball top as well as the V for shooting, east to change for walking of shooting, also comes with a thermometer and compass on the upper strap and above all it is a very sturdy monopod, not cheap aluminum.

I would recommend this to any shooter or anyone looking for a walking stick. Great poduct.

Sturdy, quality walking/shooting stick. Tight, secure locks. Strong staff. The replaceable round top is very comfortable for hiking.

Great inexpensive alternative. Works well, it’s light, and so far it’s held up under less than ideal conditions.

Functional and rapidly adjustable. Lightweight and lanyard makes easy carry/portable.

I have a problem with my wife, who has a problem with Arkansaw Red Tree, and Ground Squirrels. We have a lot of drip line irrigation around the house, and orchard. I have been slowly more handicapped in the passed years.

So I used to take care of all that stuff. They chew holes win the drip line and you don’t know it until they turn on usually at night or early morning. So she has the chores of repair and replacement.

I wanted to try shooting from sitting in a chair. So the sticks. They are impossible for me to work. The piece of rubber tubing that connects the two sticks together and form the rifle rest. Have a convex memory and I can not get them to bend in to form a gun rest.

Acept in a full extension horizionallly of the sticks. Which would have to be a ground prone position. They do not work for me and do not even rate a one star. Maybe, they work, but not for me and my situation.

It is just ok. i was expecting more from videos Ive watched. It works ok but Id recommend spending a bit more money and going with bipodshootingsticks. its another company online. that one looks a lot more reliable and versatile.

It does not do well in snow. mud soft dirt etc. it needs better ends on base to stay Put in ground. some guns I have either are too small for or to big for the rubber loop on top. Its going in closet or as a fire starter.

I’ve purchased 3 of these so far after the first set worked out so well, we like the ease of use with these, faster than extendable sticks and very easy to carry. We cut the band on the top so that it doesn’t create a cradle, allowing the rifle to sit in the notch of the sticks, we then cut the piece of band that was removed into smaller rings and slid them up the sticks to keep the sticks from hitting together.

They are quiet, light and fast. The ruler on the backside is a bonus for measuring width.

In the past two weeks I have purchased two of the “Monopods” (for myself and a friend). Neither of these new items will hold a set position. A slight tap on the ground and the stick begins to collapse without using the trigger.

They are useless for hunting or walking. I will be returning them and will not risk purchasing another. It seems that as more and more products are coming from China the quality continues to degenerate.

Obviously quality control of seriously deficient.

My short mono-pod trigger stick arrived this morning. I purchased it from Amazon. I immediately noticed a mouse had eaten away a significant portion of the soft grip on one side. It must be tasty stuff judging from the amount of material that was eaten.

If you purchase one of these sticks, it might be a good idea to keep yours locked in a mouse-proof gun safe. Pictures furnished on request.

Only one small issue. You must pull the bottom end out to extend. Then pull trigger to adjust. When pulling the trigger it completely releases and if you are not ready it will you and your rifle will free fall forward with you stumbling and being way off aim.

It works great otherwise and works better than my other monopod.

Superb Shooters Stick is what this is. If an individual has mobility issues, this unit serves as both a walking stick/staff and quickly converts to a stand alone shooting stick. I had my eye on this unit when it first came out in American Hunter Magazine.

This product is well made. I have not tested it in the field yet. It is definitely more stable than the typical monopod and lighter and handier than the more expensive tri-pods. With a quality carry strap it fits very nicely with my field kit.

It is curious that the card furnished with the stick only mentions cross-bow. I am strictly a rifle shooter and it does very well with my primary and back-up hunting rifles.

Almost worthless. There is no way to lock the yolk where the forearm rests. My brother and I were using these while we were shooting out to 400 yrds in preparation for a hunt out west. As you try for a solid hold on target prior to holding your breath the yolk swivels right to left and back with every breath making getting a solid sight picture impossible.

After several misses at 400 on a 6 inch steel target we took these back and got solid shooting sticks. They work best we both took animals at approximately 200 yrds.

I found it to be easy to adjust and very stable. Its great for shooting when you dont have to travel a long distance between shots. It is a little heavy if youre tracking through the woods or backpacking.

Its great if youre shooting pests on a farm and allows a stable platform for standing shots. I like it a lot.

They are good shooting sticks. You can use them seated or kneeling. Good for long distance hunters like myself. It’s much lighter than sticking a bipod on your rifle. If your walking or hiking for a few miles to get your quarry they are worth it.

I use it mostly from a sitting position, sitting on a stool shooting upward into tops of trees at squirrels. As such, I normally don’t have to fully extend the staff. However, I did fully extend it once, and from a standing position I tilted the staff forwards.

When I did, the bottom-most extension bent. I put too much leaning downward pressure on it is my guess. It is also the thinnest extension. I will not give it a bad rating for that, but just be careful.

Keep the staff fully upright, perpendicular to the ground as much as possible. Sometimes you will need to tilt it forwards or backwards a tad to get that perfect angle, but just be mindful of the downward pressure.

Don’t put too much of your own weight on the staff or push down too hard on it. Anyway, the extension bent but did not break. I now don’t extend the bottom extension past where it had bent, keeping the bent portion inside of the next extension above it.

All in all, I like it and it has been very useful to me. I would still recommend it and buy it again.

The shooting stick is light weight which matters on a long hike. A full range of adjustments allows settings for shooting seated and standing as well as adjustments for use as a walking/trekking stick! When using as a a walking/trekking stick, the one thing that would make the mono-pod better is including a set of rubber tips accessories to increase the traction on slippery surfaces like mud, snow, rocks and stream crossings.

I like this a lot. It works really well with my versatile ground blind gen2 tree seat. It’s as good of quality as anyone could expect , especially for the price. I can just stab it into the ground about 2 ft.

in front of me and it’s ready to go. I wouldn’t use it in a tree stand but on the ground it’s a great product.

Simple, basic, compact, inexpensive, and works well. Maybe not the best choice for extremely heavy weapons because of how the height adjustments lock but its working great for me!!!

I bought two sets of pole cats and installed them per directions on two different firearms. First time out the aluminum hub broke and sent my rifle to the ground. Bad day right well it gets worse, and can lighting really strike twice in the same place.

Yes it can. My wife goes to sling her rifle over her shoulder and the same hub breaks sending her rifle barrel right down in to the rocks. We got in touch with Primos and all they could say is that they know of the issue at sorry this happen, we can send you two more and maybe these ones wont break.

I asked if this is a known issue why are they still on the shelf and not recalled. I wanted them to foot the bill to at least to have my wife’s rifle looked at because of how hard the barrel hit and they said there is no way to make this happen.

I have used this for about 3 years, it is excellent for field use and is long enough to use from a folding hunting chair. I use it for deer and coyote hunting when I hunt on the ground or from the chair.

I shoot heavy guns and this works well. They are not perfect, the clip that holds the legs locked together during storage broke on one cold day,, ( Primos did send me a new one. Slightly different but still functional.

) one of the retainer pins in the mount head has fallen out, it still works fine with one retainer. Also the original manufacturer offered additional mounting hardware kits so the bipod could be used on multiple rifles without needed to swap the mount.

I havent been able to find these in stock for a while. All in all I will buy another when this is no longer useable. I just havent got around to ordering a backup yet.

Absolutely brilliant ! Built to last reassuringly heavy for its size, I cant belive the length the legs go to. Great spring strength too……

I recently purchased this and took it on a mule deer hunt. The quality of the tripod is a lot better than my old cheapy that broke. I rated this a three because I also bought the great divide tripod head to swap out and I was under the impression the two heads could be swapped out quickly.

But after receiving it I discovered I needed to remove a hex bolt below the base to remove the one head, then screw the other head in. So not only do I need to keep a hex key in my pocket, and not lose it, but the two heads don’t swap out quickly.

deer won’t sit there and wait for you to remove a hex bolt, swap out the different head, then screw the hex bolt back in. so I was disappointed. Another issue is the quick release base on the great divide head is a unique size and doesn’t interchange with the other bases I have for my other optics.

Bought this for rifle season as I was planning on rifle hunting and I also planned on glassing, so this seemed great – only have to lug around one tripod. The tripod itself is sturdy, it’s a little annoying to take down with the clips, but it’s not too heavy and collapses to a reasonable, backpackable size.

The interchangeable mount is a great idea and I bought the bino adapter for glassing. However I had to purchase that from the manufacturer as cabelas doesn’t stock it. Overall I think I made the right choice as I have flexibility, but I only used it once for shooting this year as plans fell through.

I bought an HD tripod last year. I think it’s laying where I quartered up my elk. No hesitation in replacing it with the Adrenaline. I’m a gear junkie and I’ve been hunting elk for 35 years. I’ve tried them all.

Bog Pod tripods are my pick. It’s light for how solid and stable it is. There are lighter one out there but they don’t hold my spotter or rifle as steady and that doesn’t really matter anyway when they break.

Elk hunting demands gear that can handle abuse! The Switcheroo feature really sets Bogs apart too. No more carrying a rest for my gun AND a tripod to spot. When you are trying to stay light nothing is better than a tool that serves multiple purposes.

Customer service is the best too. Yep. a Bog Pod is the way to go and if I leave the new one on the mountain again like a dummy I will just buy another one! Lol Three thumbs up!.

I have purchased three of these units, one is a model pod and one is a short tripod and the other is a long tripod. All of them have broken and will not work. Either the legs are frozen up or are they free wheel and cannot be adjusted.

I sent them back to the company for repair. They never looked at them and only offered to sell me new ones for the same price that I could buy them from Rogers. Horrible customer service. Do not buy.

I absolutely love using these trigger sticks. I use them for stabilizing my rifles but more than likely, I am attaching a video camera or a steel camera to them. They are just very quickly. The only problem is, they only last for about one year before they break.

Buchnell and their parent company will not stand behind them so you are going to spend $120 a year to have one that works. The only thing they will do is offer to sell you another one at near retail value.

The tripod is obviously more solid than single stick. But those do have advantages as well, so know what you NEED. Works exactly as advertised. Trigger is easy yet solid. The rest spins while legs stay solid.

And you don’t need level ground. I think the only drawback is fully extended the legs base is little bigger than I expected. So you just need to spin the legs into the position you want them if your in a stand.

The tripod is absolutely great for resting the barrel and keeping the gun elevated to minimize movement. And, keep one hand off the cold gun ! I’ve thrown a hat or glove on the rest to shoot crossbow or any forearm that’s hefty.

Great monopod at a great price. The adjustments are smooth and the locks are strong. I really like the metal pin / grip on the bottom end. It makes the pod much more sturdy than the traditional rubber bottom on other pods.

I used a cheap plastic monopod last season that would excessively bow when trying to get a shot, and the telescoping stake at the bottom would get clogged with dirt and get stuck. Both problems solved with this.

Well built and the swiveling cradle is also a plus.

Quick and easy set up! Good for ground hunting or stalking to get a steady rest. Also benefits me as a hiking stick as I am an above knee amputee hunter!

Awesome sticks! I have never used shooting sticks before but was looking for something that would help to steady my shot on coyote and fox for the longer shots without breaking the bank. Just this last weekend my father and the kids and I went out for a little target practice on the farm and I must say that i was impressed on how sturdy these are.

Even my father who doesn’t ever use a shooting rest was impressed! it also made it easier for the kids to steady the. 22 for longer shots which allowed them to shoot the same distance as us old farts lol, I was not expecting the quality to be as good as it was since they only cost $20.

00 but i must say they surpassed my expectations! The only issue I have are the feet, They don’t do well on hard ground due to the fact they are kinda blunt and metal but Most times your not Hunting or shooting from a really hard surface Example: hard dirt farm rd.

cement deck ect. I May try to put rubber feet on them or coat them in rubber but either way you cant go wrong with these sticks for the price!!!! They fold out and assemble with consistency and at a good rate of speed in my opinion.

VERY VERY LITE. Anyone who hunts can always appreciate adding another tool to the arsenal in the field without adding bulk and weight!.

Item is made of cheap plastic with no rigidity to the legs. Too short for a standing shot and not really very stable for a sitting prop. Spend a little more money and get some quality and functionality.

You won’t regret it.

Lost one single shooting stick I carried for quite a while. Picked these up in a pinch at a cheaper price. Weighed nothing and put it in a pack or large pocket. Best of all I set up and put the gun in it with stock on my shoulder or on my thigh.

Gun does not wobble as it would with a single stick while waiting for Mr. Deer to arrive. Practicing with it allows you to swing your gun on one stick either right or left and gain a little height. It is too short for me to use standing.

I am 6’. Sitting or kneeling would be fine.
