20 Best Shoes For Vet Techs (2023 Updated)

Runs small, will exchange than evaluate performance but let me give you some real concrete numbers to prove it. No idea how everyone else is saying it’s true to size. From the very tip of my toe to the very pointy end of the back of my feet measures EXACTLY 10.

75 inches (or 10 & 3/4 inches). Take a look at size charts and maybe slightly unintuitively, a 10. 75 inch foot maps exactly to a 10. 5 standard US men shoe size. My feet is the definition of a 10. 5 US men shoe that is true to size.

I know this, I collect shoes – all kinds of them, sports, sneakers, boots, etc and have idea what size adjustments I need for every kind, or even certain brands. But by definition, a shoe that fits me perfectly length wise is a shoe that’s exactly true to size of a 10.

5. This shoe, sized 10. 5, measures a tad over 10. 5 inches in its longest span in the EXTERIOR. There’s obviously padding on the toe and at the back, the inside measurements is less than 10 and 9/16 inches which happens to be the definition of a US standard size 10.

That’s OVER half size down. Now if we want a snug fit with a *little* bit curving of toe or expectation of some break-in, I’d say it’s about exactly half size smaller. I’m expecting the 11 to fit me perfectly and eager to do my exchange to try it out in the gym.

Trust the numbers, I’m starting to suspect most people have no idea what their feet measurements are and the conversion to actual standard US shoe sizing. This shoe objectively runs small by about half size.

Maybe ideally you are in between sizes and go for the bigger one for a very tight fit that can break-in to perfectly right. If you are an exact size like me, you need to go half size up otherwise it’s not do-able.

I’m expecting close to a perfect fit with 11 to start and hope the shoe won’t stretch too much over time.

This is a very solid shoe for indoor gym climbing. Have not had them outside yet. Velcro straps make it easy to take on/off but still allow me to get the shoes reasonably snug all across the shoe. There is a little bit of space in the heel, more than I’d like, but it’s not a huge problem.

Can’t say anything as to the durability of the soles as I have only used them a couple times already. These are slightly more aggressive and positive than my old tarantulaces they replaced, but not significantly more uncomfortable.

I would consider them a moderate aggressive shoe towards the low end of that spectrum. BE WARNED, however, they do run EXTREMELY small. For example, my previous shoes were a bit on the loose side. So I wanted to go a little tighter with this pair.

My tarantulaces were the same size as my tennis shoes, which also fit me properly. Since I read that these run small, I figured I would start with the same size as my old climbing shoes. When they arrived, I COULD NOT get them on at ALL.

My toes folded under my feet as I tried on the shoe. I had to go up 1 full size larger than my TENNIS SHOE size in order to get rock climbing shoes I could even so much as put on. I have been climbing for years and I know how climbing shoes should fit, and these run way smaller than expected.

Ended up having to return the shoes to the store and they ordered the size I needed, which went smoothly but of course I couldn’t go climbing for another week while I waited on the new size to arrive.

Picked up a pair on sale at my local REI to replace my worn out Tarantulaces. For a flat shoe, they are great – super comfortable, relatively grippy, easy to get on/off. Synthetic is a bonus for a consistent fit, although I heard they can become pretty stinky, so maybe stay on top of that.

For fit, I went with one full size up from my street shoe size (9 in street shoes, picked a 10 here). I could have pulled off a half size up, but since they’re synthetic (no stretch) and supposed to be my more comfortable flat shoes, I went with the 10.

One full size up was the sweet spot for me with toe bend. Primarily use these for long/high volume gym sessions, multi-pitch climbs, or any other day where I prioritize comfort and am climbing tamer stuff.

I can keep them on pretty much all the time, I don’t have to peel them off after every climb. For bouldering, they are great up to V4ish. Beyond that, I would go for a more aggressive shoe (typical for a flat shoe anyway).

If you’re a beginner climber, these will handle virtually anything you can throw at it, AND keep your feet happy too. A pair of these and a pair of Shamans would round off a perfect quiver to climb just about anything.

Waterproof leather work, barn, or horseback riding boots. I got these mainly for riding; sole & heel height are perfect. Sole is not lugged and is slightly smooth. (No steel or other reinforcement at toes.

) Wearing them now; have been wearing for a few days while walking 3 dogs in the woods to break in, but they didn’t need breaking in. Feels almost like a suede finish to the touch; seem to be waterproof, and when leather uppers got wet walking after a heavy rain, they dried quickly and left no stain or color change.

I think they are really cute, and they come with two other “kiltie” options you can lace on for different looks. I wear, and got, size 8 1/2 Med. , and the fit seems true to size. They are slightly narrow across the area where the back of kiltie joins the beginning of the laces (where the bases of the toes join the foot).

I have mild bunions so this could have been a problem, but in fact these boots feel great. I have sort of “duck-shaped” feet, meaning narrow heels and wider at balls of feet. These are not that shape; they are more the same width from heel to ball of foot, but they still feel good on.

Even though I have narrower heels, my heels do not slip at all in these boots. I also have a thick forefoot (from the ground to the top of my toes and forefoot), and these toe boxes are tall enough for me.

I have pretty bad flat arches; I did figure out how to use my custom orthotics with the boots. These boots have insoles which are glued in. But, the boots come with an extra pair of thin cushioned insoles and instructions stating they can be inserted UNDER the insoles in the boots, for anyone who would like extra cushioning.

So, I pulled their insoles out, despite the glue, in order to put mine in. This did not cause any damage to, or problems with, the boots. Medium thickness socks work best and give the best fit for me.

On my first 1 1/4 hour walk in them, I developed a hot spot (beginning of a blister) on the bottom of my right big toe, so I don’t think they would work as hiking boots.

I purchased these boots from a Western store that retired about a year or two after. I was looking for another roper and ordered these again by mistake. I wanted the Roper Athletic smaller style and have returned these for the others.

My older ones are just like these and a great boot, I have worn them in the cold and they keep your feet really warm, their very very comfortable and true to size as I am a 7 I have worn them to church and shopping.

They are a sturdy boot, and look so much better than pull up boots with funny names. Great for hiking, ranching, or just looking good wearing jeans getting out of your SUV on a grocery run. Can’t wait until the other version arrives.

Love, love these boots. I wear them everyday and wear them hard and they’re going strong 1. 5 years in! They are well-structured but did not require a significant break-in period. My only complaint is that it’s easy for shavings and hay to come in at the top of the boot and they stick to the lining.

I have been running in Fivefingers for 15 years. I hav become increasing frustrated as they have become more and more engineered. I really just need something to protect the bottom of my feet and toes.

I tried the V-soul, thinking it would be perfect for my needs. It was. Everything I wanted, nothing I didn’t. But the sole was so thin I wore through it in a month. I thought I would give this model a try.

One word: blisters. On my arches, heels, toes. The heel is so high amd firm. It pushes into the Achilles. There is an actual arch with a seam running down the length of it. Why? Fivefingers shouldn’t have arches.

Naturalness is supposed to be the name of the game.

Primarily use for walking and jogging. Originally ordered an exact size but after 10-15 years of wearing it, my toes finally lengthen and less of a hammered toe which meant it was time to size up by one size.

Its about 0. 5-1 cm by sizing up. I love the individual toe feeling and non-chafing like traditional shoes. Past usage was for hiking which is pleasant too; just be mindful of anything sharp. Cycling use is doable, depending on the pedal type; I used a trail type for both bicycle and unicycles.

EL-X tread type works beat with flat pedals. Not recommended for sand use unless you don’t mind sand particulates stuck in all the crevices forever.

I am the owner of several Vibrams over the years. And knowing my size (41) made me feel confident I could order online. These Classics are a lot smaller than I am used to. Toe wise all good, but the heel portion is locking in a bit too tight (without using the elastic at the back).

I can wear them, and I hope they will run wider the longer I wear them, but they are not as comfortable as the Vibrams I had before. It seems like the sizes all went smaller as another pair I ordered at the same time has the same problem.

Conclusion: don’t buy online if you are not sure of your size with the current Vibrams. Having earlier Vibrams doesn’t mean you still have the same size.

I followed the size chart to the letter, wound up with a size 45. Upon receiving the shoes, the shoe was waaay too long. Like 2 sizes too long. It wasn’t close enough to go “oh well” and deal with. At least an inch and a half of extra shoe.

I bought these specifically due to having the 20% off coupon available and am really bummed to have wasted that savings on these. I obviously haven’t used these enough to know, but I noted that the inside tongue rubs against your foot in a weird way since it subducts under one side and sort of “wraps” your foot.

So there’s only contact with the tongue on one side. At first it was quite painful to wear but that seemed to go away once the shoe “settled”. So that may or may not be a problem. I wondered if that rubbing would cause blisters over time.

My Bontrager shoes’ tongue is a normal design and it feels natural on the foot, but with these it’s like one side of the foot has extra pressure on it due to the design. Could be nothing, I’m not sure.

More use would tell. I bought these to use when commuting and road-biking because i wanted to clip-in, but also needed the ability to walk easily. SPD SL cleats never seemed to offer much benefit and I only use SPD.

These shoes seemed to have a really nice, stiff sole and clipping in/out was smooth even with the added tread. I was really happy with the look, the tread, and the stiffness. It almost felt like walking in a normal shoe.

They did not feel heavy. Such a shame the sizing is so off that I can’t use them. I really want to love these, but we’ll see if I can get the sizing right. I’ll give them another shot with a new size.

These are pretty narrow as well, so if you have wide-feet don’t even bother. They widen up a bit when you wear them but as someone with wider feet i could instantly tell these are very narrow shoes. More narrow than my bontrager cycling shoes of a smaller size.

*Note: on every other website, these shoes come with cleats. REI doesn’t seem to do that, not a dealbreaker but worth noting. Buy cleats if you need them. They did come with neat arch supports you can choose to use or not, i thought that was a nice touch.

To be fair, I am roadie, and I have never been a fan of walking on cleats, which is why I prefer the SPD system. I also think (even for roadies) having little to no sole to walk on is just dumb. Granted I realized one may get more power from other clipless designs.

This shoe is marketed as gravel shoe, but I was looking for a light weight, rigid, high quality shoe for riding on the road. This shoe ticks all the boxes. This is my first shoe with a Boa system, and once I figured out how to adjust it, it is great.

I have about 150 miles logged on the show so far. Very happy with this shoe. I wear US9. 5 and I went with EU44, and the fit is perfect for me. This is for Shimano RX8- Silver.

Like other reviewers mentioned, getting this shoe on for the first time is weird. You really have to pull out the tongue completely to get enough space to get your foot in. After I got them on for the first time, the forefoot felt perfect (and I have a slightly wide foot), but the tongue cut into my ankle on one of my feet.

The shoes come with two arch inserts, one medium and one high. The medium height is already attached, so I swapped it with the high to adjust the fit. Once I had the high insert in place and loosened the boa slightly on the ankle that was irritated, the shoe felt perfect.

I’ve never had such a complicated shoe setup period, which is why I took off a star. Besides that, the shoe is super light (on par with a road shoe) and extremely stiff. The perforations ventilate so well that you can really feel the wind in every pedal stroke.

The first time I tested these, it was Fall in the desert so the ventilation was almost too much in the shade. They’ve been perfect with shoe covers during the winter in the PNW, and I’m sure they’ll make a great summer shoe too.

I bought my usual size and they only fit with thin socks, so if you plan on wearing thick wool socks, size up.

Bought these for my husband who just recently has Plantar, (I call it fishyitis ) but his foot felt so much better. The pain was bearable. I ended up buying another pair. These are very lightweight.

Always been a FiveTen fan, but now I’ve switch allegiance. The shoe is very supportive and stiff. The upper is pretty stiff as well which should protect the occasional rock strikes. Sizing is a quarter small, so you might want to size up since the upper is substantial and may not conform readily.

Traction is quite good both on and off the pedal. Easy to reposition. Overall I am quite pleased.

I bought the endura mtb shoes love the feel and lightness of the shoe. Checks all the boxes. Style, durable and lots of good times on the trail.

I like the looks of these boots and the fit is good. They are quite sturdy around ankle. Even though they are stiff and need a little breaking in, they are quite comfortable. Biggest gripe is the toe leather.

After only 2 rides, the left toe leather is peeling where it meets the shifter rubber. It seems like a surface thing, the black is scraped off, revealing a grey surface underneath. The toe leather (is it really leather?) is still solid and firm.

It’s almost like there is a black coating on the toe that easily wears off. I like the boot enough to keep it and just put some black shoe dye on the toe. These aren’t dress boots. We’ll see how the toe hold up in the long run.

Worst built shoes I’ve ever had. The heel cup hurts the back of your heel. The seam by your pinky toes rubs them raw because its not flat. I can’t return them because I wore them twice before all the defects started to show.

I can feel the sharp edge of the heel cup and toe cup above my toe knuckles digging into my feet when I walk. Paper thin inner liner. Tried to break them in more but they just hurt. Not sure how something that’s supposed to protect you can be so painfull and uncomfortable.

I feel they’d do more damage to your feet in a crash. And I did get the right size, they fit great and if you’re just on the bike and don’t have to walk more than six feet then its fine. But these shoes where not made for walking.

Comfortable with plenty of support. If you want shoes that are comfortable, these are the shoes for you. Add to that how comfortable they are all day from being on you feet. Only shoes with good support will allow you to have pain free hours on your feet.

Shipped wrong shoes. ordered 1 k z part no. And was shipped 1 k s. was a Christmas present. they were supposed to be red shoes. but they shipped black instead. Now dont have anything to give to a five year old.

they were ordered a month before Christmas. They now tell me they’re backordered till January.

Shoe eyelet failed after 3 uses. Pedal feel is poor compared to other race shoes.

Haven’t worn them. The shoes feel great. However, the NAME blasted across the tongue (which doesn’t show in the picture) and the extra long strings takes away from what would be a very nice walking shoe.

I would love wearing it otherwise. Sorry.

This is my 3rd or 4th walking shoes, I stick to this brand, really great already proven. I was at the park on my walks & a mother & daughter noticed my shoes, I said this pair of shoes are really great for walking.

I live in Argentina and Ive been using Vibrams since they came out. this means each time I buy some, I have to get someone to bring them over from abroad and cant return them. Had people buy vibrams for me in Italy, Spain and USA.

Every time I buy them I end up not being able to use at least one pair because of the constant changes in size. Not only that, I have wide beefy feet from using minimalist shoes. so it’s kind of ironic that I need to buy bigger and bigger vibrams because of how narrow they are being made.

Originally there was a time when all shoes changed sizes because they started to be made in a new factory, It was a nasty surprise when that happened since I had to give away 3 pairs of shoes that my wide feed didnt fit into.

ever since that happened i decided to buy only one pair at a time and ever since I ALWAYS had problems. And I get it. Maybe you totally lost control of the manufacturing process. What I dont get, is why the sizing charts are not including width and lenght in them.

I’m attaching pictures with a measuring tape to compare the 3 shoes I still have. You’ll notice that the new shoes are almost an inch narrower, that the previous vibrams, and those were already narrower than the ones before.

Sadly this is the last time I’m buying vibrams. Manufacturing is too unpredictable. even If I had the option to return them, I think the constant changes are not a good customer retention policy.

I’ve used KSO EVO since their intro (10+ years?). This model is like a racing glove for feet; cozy, snug but not tight, protective, grippy. I also run barefoot but when I want something on my feet these are easily the closest to barefoot I’ve ever had.

The same goes for walking/hiking. In the gym, they provide the fully grounded footfall you need for many acgivities; same for yoga (if you don’t like bare feet). For me, this footwear lasts nearly forever.

My walk/run stride is slightly different/improved and my soles wear almost exclusively on the *ball* of the foot. And because of my barefoot stride, my feet fall so lightly there’s hardly any wear at all.

I once clocked a pair of Bikilas at over 3,000 km of running and gave up with them still going strong. Try that with your average “running” shoe. If you’ve never walked/run in minimalist footwear, you’d do well to introduce FiveFingers gradually to your body.

Once you find your stride, you’ll wonder how you ever wore those foamy, puffy, floofy, oddly engineered and reeeeeaaaallly expensive foot traps that manufacturers hawk with their marketing dollars.

I’ve been wearing Lems barefoot shoes for a couple years for the health benefits and ground feel of a flat, wide shoe that restricts my feet as little as possible. Now, I can’t stand wearing traditional narrow toebox shoes with raised heels.

However, Lems is still a bit narrow in the midfoot and stiff. I bought these for running and they are really wide, (the widest shoe I’ve worn), thin, and flexible. They are light, stable, and feel like you’re barely wearing shoes).

It’s also nice to be able to spread your toes more, especially for running. However, I have a few minor complaints. There is stitching on the bottom that rubs on your skin, but this is solved with toe socks.

There is a bit of pressure on the big toe of one foot when walking, but no problems running. Lastly, you can feel all the rock salt dig into your foot during the winter (ground feel has it’s cons). Also it might look weird lol but that’s ok.

I’m in love with Clove shoes. As a RN in a very busy ER, I can go all day without getting a chance to really sit down- a whole day on my feet, and Cloves have always supported me. However, where I usually need arch inserts and a few days of break in time, the new Aeros were instantly a perfect fit.

I ordered a 1/2 size up, and wasn’t disappointed. The toe box is a little wider, eliminating the bit of pinky toe pinch you can get sometimes. The Aeros feel like your walking in shoes made of clouds, but look sleek.

They feel like they have as much padding as those bulky other shoes some nurses wear. I highly recommend the new Aeros!.

I’ve been a fan since my first pair of clove shoes. These new Aeros vapor are just as great but feel even more comfortable than my other pairs of clove shoes! Love the color, the insole is very cushy and after a full day at work it felt just as comfortable as when I first put them on.

The only thing I noticed was the opening was a tad smaller than the regular shoes, but after getting them on and wearing them it wasn’t a problem. I normally go a half size bigger in the regular clove shoes and did the same with these.

They fit perfect!.

You do not need insoles, they fit so well instantly! Good quality and design, theblaces get caught in the strap quite a lot, overall it’s a good buy.

The shoe itself is really pretty and I love that they are water repellent (I work in veterinary medicine so they have saved my feet from various pee accidents from my patients). I have gotten a lot of complements about the look and color.

BUT they are not comfortable at all for people that work on their feet for long shifts. I thought since they were geared toward nurses that they would have some sort of support. My feet hurt so much a few hours into my shift and afterwards that I can’t wait to take them off on my lunch break and when I get home.

I normally wear Asics or Nike and have not had issues like this before. Another thing is it feels like the front of the shoe dips down some so my big toe gets pinched throughout the day as I walk or stand.

The shoe is a size 9 which is my normal size and my foot slides very little so I don’t think a size down would help- probably would be more tight. Of course I was not going to know how they fully felt until I worked in them for a full shift.

Sadly I know they do not have any refunds on shoes that are worn but you can’t expect to have a good idea of how they will do until you test them out. Overall, I would have expected a shoe that costs $140 to be more comfortable and have way better support.

This shoe would be better for someone that has more of a sedentary job and only has minimal standing time.

The concept is great- I retired my dansko cause I wanted something more form fitting, plus it doesn’t look great in joggers and I was tired of wearing my ultraboost (my favorite shoes) to work. Pros:1: waterproof and easy to clean up2: color is cute (I bought the lemonade)3: good for wide feet cause it does stretch (pro & con w the stretch).

Cons:1: the shoe laces are stretchable but I wished it came in a shorter length. I had to tighten mine so that it was more fitted but it made them long that I had to put a knot in them so they weren’t flopping around when I’m walking.

Then of course it left a weird crease on the front of the shoes cause the laces were tightened. 2: I’ve had these shoes for about 3 weeks now (I work 3 -12hr shifts) and have noticed the insoles have already given away that I can “feel” the bottom”.

Cushion 0 stars – (I felt like I just bought some cheap throw away shoes, but it cost $129+) for how long they last— horrible. 3: Not much of an arch – and my heels were starting to hurt, partly due to the minimal cushioning.

Unfortunately, I won’t be buying these shoes again especially when it only lasted for a VERY short period of time. The concept was good… but definitely not for healthcare if your constantly on your feet for a 12hr shift in the acute care setting.

I didn’t think this shoe provides enough ankle support for someone working 12s. My friend who’s a nurse has one of their original models and now that Clove upgraded the insole and outer sole, I thought they might be better but the ankle support was still to minimal for me to enjoy wearing them (which was my friends same criticism of the pair they had).

When I’m paying $120+, I feel that I should enjoy walking in them comfortably and have proper support in the sole and ankle. I’m mostly writing this because I was disappointed about the return policy not being clear.

I think that was a little deceiving since when I looked months back, I thought that returns were free if you decided they didn’t work out. Returns are $10 which you won’t know until you go to return them and get to the return options screen.

I think it would be nice if this was more clear but that would likely mean less sales since people would want to be more sure they would work out. If you sit more than stand or are happy in vans/converse, maybe you’d like these.

For me, ankle support is more important than looks so I’m going to try out new balances through Amazon (plus returns are free).

I purchased the Blue stretch sneakers for my son. I bought him two pair so far and he loves them. Size and comfort are five star. I also bought sneakers and sandals for myself. The sneakers are very comfortable, but has not helped reduce the pain from neuropathy and Fibromyalgia.

I love the sandals, but under the buckle on one foot the strap cuts into the top of my foot. This makes it hard to walk in. Do you have something to put under the strap to help with the irritation like a piece of velcro that will match the black strap color? They should be listed under my account.

Love the comfort and pain free feeling with these shoes on my feet, back, knees and neck. The 1/8 and 1/16 inch insert options have greatly contributed to the pain free feeling. I was told years ago by a chiropractor that my left leg is 5mm shorter than my right leg.

The two inserts combined are 4. 97mm and probably is a reason why the pain has gone away (not to mention the overall quality of the Orthofeet shoe). BTW I also bought a grey lava stretch knit and Edgewater stretch knit black and also feel great to my feet, back, knees and neck.

I would highly recommend all three of these shoe types.

I have been playing active sports my entire life and I coach tennis so I am on my feet all day. Having had Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Fasciitis in both feet as well as arthritis in both knees, I have learned to just get by each day cringing in pain.

Since getting my Ortho Feet shoes less then a month ago, I am pain free and can even run a bit. Changed my life. Also, I don’t look like I am wearing “old man’s” shoes. I have told many people about Ortho Feet and they have ordered and are experiencing the same results.

Trotzdem frage ich mich ob außer dem Marketing für Produktfotos den zugegeben schönen Schuh auch einmal angezogen und getestet hat. Schade um mein Geld und schade für ein ansonsten tolles Produkt. Habe leider keine Bewertung gelesen, da Schuh in einer Testempfehlung sehr positiv dargestellt wurde.

Der Grip ist einmalig! Warum ich dann dennoch 4 anstatt der 5 Sterne gebe? Nach zwei Wochen löste sich bei mir an beiden Schuhen die Verklebung auf Höhe des Zehen Anfanges. Das ist ärgerlich und sollte bitte nach korrigiert werden in der Produktion.

Ansonsten wie geschrieben ein perfekter Schuh!.

This is a great casual shoe. I have wide feet and I still have wiggle room in these shoes. They are comfortable and provide good solid support. If you have a high arch it will not provide great arch support but I think it would still be enough support.

I planned on wearing them inside because I have tile floors throughout my house but I will probably end up wearing them out. I would definitely purchase again.

These are great, comfortable shoes. Great quality and very stylish for todays trends. I bought a pair that have no back as well for house shoes. These I use for lazy days out. Keep in mind that if you are going to wear socks with these, they fit as expected but, if you are going to wear these without socks, I would get a half size smaller as they are a bit loose without socks.

This also depends on how you like you shoes to fit. If you like them floppy loose, then order normal. If you like your shoes to fit normal, (not quite snug but close to snug) then go with the half size smaller.

Either that, or spray the top down with water and let them air dry. The fabrics will shrink a bit and feel a bit tighter.

Super comfy and I think very stylish in that deconstructed way. Comfy but not in a pillowy soft way like my new Adidas shower slides. The support is not like a wooden clog but could use a bit more cush….

That being said it is the only close toe shoe I can wear right now. NICE BIG TOE BOX. Was able to put additional insoles in. Also the insoles it came with remove easily it you just want ti go your own way….
