20 Best Shoes For Swing Dancing (2023 Updated)

I absolutely love the split sole that lets you articulate though your feet. The heel is a perfect height that comfortable to dance in but still gives you and extra length in your legs. Ive heard people complain about the instability of the heel in other reviews and it did make my hesitate on buying this shoe.

Honestly, what it comes down to is if you have strong feet and ankles. Aka do you have ballet / technical training? If you do, these shoes are no sweat. If you havent developed the strength through your feet to control the split sole and the stability in you ankles to not rely on resting on your heels, this shoe will probably will feel like an ankle breaker.

But for me I love love love them. They feel comfortable off the bat. Im usually between a 6. 5 – 7 street shoe and the 7 fits perfectly. Im so glad I gave it a try and now I have both a Black and Tan pair.

I purchased these upon recommendation from my best friend as my first character shoes for my school musical. They are very comfortable and easy to break in. It was so nice to be able to fully point my feet because of the split sole and the t-strap looks very elegant and classic.

My only complaint would be that after two months of rehearsals the heel pads fell off. They were easy to super glue back on but it was still a bit of an inconvenience. I am a size eight in shoes and ordered a size nine and they were a bit too big and I had to add two heel inserts into the backs to make them perfect.

I will be ordering a size eight and a half next time and see if this fixes my problem. Overall this was a great shoe.

I like the look of these shoes a lot. They resemble the coveted LaDuca but they really fall short when it comes to actually dancing in them. During a production of Evita I was a featured dancer in the show as well as the mistress.

While they worked perfectly for my non dancing role as the mistress, I felt very unsteady while doing heavy dancing. It is very easy to roll your ankle in the shoe as the straps are not strong or supportive.

Also, the outside of the shoe is easily scuffed and the ‘leather’ peels off when rubbed against the floor. The shoe allows one to point really nicely but the heel is not struutured well so it bends backwards sometimes.

I have worn Capezio dance shoes for years and previously a half size up always fit perfectly. I ordered a half size larger in this shoe but it was too tight. I think a full size up may have fit. The shoes were much more bulky than my previous Dansneakers and I could tell would irritate my instep being so high on it.

I do wish they still made the comfortable web dansneaker! Returned and ordered Bloch.

Saw these in the store and they caught my eye just because the style was different and they stood out. I don’t think I’ve ever owned Reeboks before but tried them on thought they were even cuter on. They are true to size in my opinion and my feet are a little wider and these fit great.

Worn several times now and they are still comfy. Was a great purchase.

My 12-year-old kid wears these, she likes that they look vaguely historical. They run super small and were tight at first but have stretched somewhat. She loves them.

Good quality but gave it an OK because the shoes are not true to size. I would recommend getting a half to a whole size larger. Gave them away to my daughter.

Super comfy-i never wear heels so I was nervous to have to do a dance heavy community show in them for two hours but they’re great! Only downside is that after wearing them to practice a couple of times the backs on the outside started wearing off.

I am currently in a show and discovered that I needed jazz sneakers that offered more traction. These were easy to break into, despite the fact that the cushions inside were a bit uncomfortable and loose at first.

The shoes offer good arch support. I took the advice of previous reviews. My street shoe size is 8. 5 or 9. I ordered a 9, and they fit well, leaving enough room for socks.

If I had to purchase this style of shoe again, I would go back to capezio. This brand of shoe was definitely not as sturdy. It will work for the type of dancing I’m using them for, but I wouldn’t purchase them again.

They look and feel inferior to the capezio I have had in this same style before. In fact, I could go on pointe in the capezios and not these at all. (And that’s with the capezios I have had for years that finally were falling apart.

These would be good for small children, not so much for adults who want to get a lot of use.

This shoe is very roomy. I am a 6. 5 with a wider foot, and I lace these all of the way shut. I ordered this in the same size as my TapFlex shoes; 7, and they fit pretty good. I may have been able to go a 1/2 size down, but the 7 is not at all too big.

The size suggestion says order 1 whole size up. I don’t recommend that at all. I recommend 1/2 size if you have a wider foot,and perhaps same as street if you are medium width or narrow. Narrow feet should perhaps avoid this shoe altogether!The shoe is not split sole, but has a very flexible demi-pointe.

This is good for pirouettes and maybe pullbacks, but that is all. It is terrible for toe stands. I’m surprised I haven’t seen a single review stating this. I can do a toe stand in pretty much any shoe, and every tap shoe I’ve ever had, but I can only barely do them in these.

The problem is that unless you have a very strong foot you can’t get completely onto the tip of this shoe, because no matter how hard you try you can’t keep the shoe straight enough, since it bends very easily right behind the front tap.

Gravity and this shoe are working against you. I can do a sort-of toe stand on the back edge of the shoe for a little bit, pointing my feet very hard and bending my knees excessively, but forget any other kind of toe work.

I love everything else about the shoe, but I will have to continue the perfect tap shoe hunt, and save these for teaching.

These have been calling to me for so long! I am so excited to finally have them. My feet are often cold, not only in winter in the summer too. I purchased these because they seem like a great way to stay warm between classes or break when Im not leaving the studio and I do not require the use of a street shoe.

Hopefully it will help to cut down warm up time between breaks. My foot is a street size womens 6/7. I ordered the Medium in charcoal and black. They fit perfectly and they are super comfortable. The sole is very flexible, which seems great for warming and working my feet for class.

Ill try to remember to update on durability and effectiveness. Im very happy so far.

I looked around other online stores and struggled to find the correct size. Your size chart is perfect. My 6-year old granddaughter just started using a size 1 shoe. The large size bootie is perfect for her, even while wearing her ballet slippers.

I adore these like all the reviewers before me; they are lightweight and keep my feet super warm without all the bulk other booties have. I wear a 7. 5 street and have pairs in adult small and medium.

The smalls fit snug like a slipper and the mediums have extra room so I wear them over my ballet flatties. I wanted to mention something for the guys. I bought a pair for a male friend, his street size is 10.

5/11 and these were too small. We were so disappointed these didn’t fit! I really wish Bloch made an XL for the dance dudes, they need to keep warm too!.

I love my Mama Greens. They are fitting perfectly and are very soft. I like that they support the ankle a little bit but aren’t too stiff either. Very good quality! Dancing with them is amazing.

I stumbled on Skechers yoga foam flip flops/sandals about four years ago when I badly broke my toe. I have basically worn nothing since. I buy one or 2 pairs every year just to be sure I have them. I get compliments wherever I go.

dentist, shopping, the list goes on and on. To date, only one pair has come close to breaking, and that is with every day wear, all year round, so they are quite sturdy as well. Try them and you’ll be in love.

Thong straps loose but not as loose as similar, prior model bought 2 years ago. Cushions feet *plus* bottom sole part doesn’t sink in too much so far after 1 month of wear. These I predict will be more expen$ive compared to Rainbow sandals in the long run.

Like my last pair of yoga-mat bottom and bedazzled top flip flops from Sketchers, I expect them to last for 2 years then wear out. I also hope to run back to DSW in another 2 years to buy the next model- they’re a must for me! ( ^^) d.

This pair of sandals provides arch support and comfortability. I bought a pair about 6 weeks ago and went back for a second pair about 2 weeks ago! The style is elegant, it’s not completely flat, there is approx 3/4 inches of height in the heal and the material on the sole is sturdy! These are some qualities I look for in a pair of sandals.

I love this product, and rave about them every time that I wear them in class. They fit well and make my wing and arch look nice. I’m a minimalist when it comes to shoes, and I’ve found these to be better than footundeez because of turning and comfort purposes.

I use this shoe more than any other pair in my classes. I dance in these shoes about 6 or 7 hours a week. As canvas tends to do, it wore a hole right through my big toe. I had them for about 4 months and this started to happen.

I love the shoes so much, but durability is important for me. I’m planning on trying out the same type of shoe in leather, but if comfort is not the same I will hands down go back to this shoe and order them two pairs at a time.

If you plan on dancing a lot in these shoes, be ready for holes!.

Our studio recently got a marle floor. These provided the right amount of grip. I noticed people said they run small so I went up a size. They fit perfectly.

Bought these for my daughter. In the past her dance coach had bought the team balera lyrical shoes. My daughter always complained of how uncomfortable they were and how they dug into the sides of her foot.

I read reviews for this shoe. She wears a 6. Bought a 6. 5 and they fit perfectly. She loves them.

These shoes are so beautiful. I saw them in store but they didn’t have my exact size, so I ordered them and had them shipped. First the pros: The style is so classy. I got so many compliments. I am not a small lady, and they are sturdy enough to hold me up throughout the day.

Cons: They are not the most comfortable. I knew this when I bought them. My biggest problem when I bought them, is that one of the plastic pieces on the bottom of the heal was glued on at an angle, and also not facing the right way.

When I walked I felt my ankle turn in on this side trying to correct. I didn’t have time to return them and reorder, so I modified it myself. But for the cost I shouldn’t have to do that.

I wanted to like these so bad, I wanted them in multiple colors. My feet are not considered wide and I own at least 9 other pairs of Kelly & Katie heels but for some reason the bottom of my foot just rubbed in the toe portion.

It fit into that section but the sides just rubbed on my foot like it wasn’t wide enough, then the sides of my foot overhang the middle section and my heel slipped. The whole thing was just a mess.

Beautiful to look at, but the soles were so stiff I could barely walk and the toes were so pointy my toes were squished. No padding underfoot at all. Great for any event where you don’t have to stand or walk very far.

High heels don’t have to be uncomfortable, but these truly are. Decided not to wear them to the event I bought them for and am taking them back.

LOVE these tap shoes! Velcro makes its easy for my little one to put on herself. True to size but I sized up for her to grow into them. Target comes through again in a pinch!!!

The Velcro closure is a huge plus and after our last pair lasted for a year of dance we were happy to repurchase these in the next size. Fits TTS for my child (who runs larger for an almost 4 year old).

Perfect tap shoe for my almost 5 year old! So easy for her to put on. Went with size 11. They run a little long, but are narrow.

I bought 2 prs. of this shoe in 2 diff. colors. Have been wearing for months. I noticed last week that the heels were wearing down. (I’m hard on shoes). Upon looking at the shoe closer I notice that the heel is actually HOLLOW! Being rubber it is now collapsing! Still not sure if a new sole will be an option because there’s not a lot of surface to attach to.

Very disappointing. I always thought Easy Spirit was a step above:(.

These shoes are comfortable and really lovely. Very easy to walk in. Even my twenty-something daughter, who isn’t into my styles, said, “Mom, those shoes are really nice and they look great. I hope you are keeping them.

” And I planned to, but for one thing. I had ankle surgery and now have a small screw that is apparently in just the right spot to rub against the upper strap just a bit. The shoe fit the other ankle just fine, so it’s not the shoe, it’s the surgery I had.

I am so, so disappointed that they have to go back, but I highly recommend them for anyone else.

I bought these back in February 2022 and by July 2022 one heel gave out as though there was no reinforcement inside of it for stability and it would collapse while walking. The other heel is sturdy and still good.

Totally unwearable and beyond the 60 days for the store to be able to do anything. I loved These shoes for vintage aesthetic and wish they did not fail.

First I order 2 sizes to pick the best fit 7. 5 and 7. I got two different shoes styles. The old and new model for this shoe. Then the 7. 5 is smaller than the 7. The new model’s arch is too long that bother my feet.

The old model and 7. 5 size fits my arch better but that style is less that pretty and was not the one I order. Customer service takes 24 hours to answer a email. I have requested to talk to somebody over the phone but I have not answer.

I am tired of this we have weeks in these matter and nobody cares. Do not waste your money!!!.

These shoes are exactly what I have wished for. A very comfy, snug fit pair of dance shoes in which I can dance for hours without getting pain in my feet. Delivery to UK was super quick, 3days and the size is perfect.

I went down half size just so I get a snug fit. Overall very pleased with the shows and customer service.

This is a great basic shoe for the studio and also for performing (can always add some bling to it yourself). This shoe is comfortable and well supported. It has a wide toe box that does not squeeze your foot.

Plenty of flexibility for pointing as well.

I just received these and am really surprised with the quality. in a good way! They feel great considering I have problem feet and a knee injury that leaves me unable to wear ballroom heels. I normally wear a size 8 in a street shoe, a 7.

5 in an open-toe-2. 5″ salsa shoe and sized up 1/2 size (8. 5) based on other Balera shoes I own. The only think I think I’d like would be a suede sole for spinning, but maybe there is a model like that and I didn’t look for it not realizing I’d like that feature.

This shoe use to be very good years back. Could have been worn for hours. Not sure where they are making their product. but it’s not the same. Sizing: This can go either way, pending on what you place on your feet.

Tights, Socks (thin or thick) or bare feet. I’m a 6. 5M and had to go down to a 6M. My first order got sent back. Shoe was very stretched out on sides. Ordered street size again, still to big if I don’t wear athletic socks.

Not Good Arch Support: As we age, we need more arch and foot support. Stress fractures, ligament damage, and hammer head toes, back, knee and neck issues are all a product of our body placement and what we wear on our feet.

If you dance or teach for long hours I would go with another shoe that has arch support, cushion and stability. This is NOT a running, walking or Zumba shoe. It’s great for price and short time being in this shoe.

Teaching dance, Hip-Hop class or a baby/kids class. “Cheers”.

The shoes are very nice over all. Sadly they do run small. I followed the sizing guidelines and went up 1. 5-2 sizes from my daughters’ street size shoe. I purchased one in wide for my older daughter and they fit well.

My youngest I went with medium because she has very narrow feet. The medium is very hard to slide on her foot with a pair of tights on. I will note this for my next order to always order wide shoes.

These shoes are good quality just ordered them wrong size. I followed the sizing chart. It has can be the same size as street shoe, that is terribly wrong, they need to be about 2 to 3 sizes bigger for this brand.

They are thick and made well, but they are small. The tan is a great color and scuff marks easy to get off. My daughter is 4 soon to be 5 and wears a size 8 shoe or she did when I ordered the tap shoes.

She is in a 9 street shoe and a 9 in the tap shoes were waaaaaay to small. So I recommend getting 2 to 3 sizes bigger. I ordered them about 4 months early for the spring recital, my fear is they will be too small when recital time comes.

I have only tried this brand. I would look at anther brand that isn’t mad as small.

I was hesitant to buy these shoes and looked at them for years before finally buying. The expensive return shipping had me worried that I would regret the purchase. But they didn’t disappoint. They are made from quality materials and I’ve already worn them many times with no sign of wear anywhere.

They are comfortable for heels and I get more compliments than any other pair of shoes I’ve ever owned. My only complaint is that they are a bit too big through the ankle but I have skinny ankles and should have made a note of this when I ordered.

As far as style goes, these are my absolute favorite! I’m also in love with the Nordic blue. super unique. They are also super comfy and fit well. Also, I wasn’t sure what size to go with and was worried because I have wide feet.

I’m normally an 8 but in length but wear an 8. 5-9 sometimes because my feet are pretty wide. I ordered an 8. 5 with a 2 inch heel in Nordic blue because they were one sale. They fit my feed great in width.

It also really helps to have the 2 inch heel with wide feet because the weight is more evenly distributed and doesn’t feel like I’m wearing heels but I looks like it. They’re a tiny bit long in length (again, I’m a true 8 in length) , but I won’t need an insert because the shoes tie to keep them snug.

I probably could have bought an 8 and it would have fit great. My advice for wide feet: order true size if the shoe isn’t fully enclosed around your foot and/or if the heel is 3 inches or greater. For fully enclosed shoes, if you have wide feet, consider ordering half size up and consider getting a 2 inch heel Because your weight will be more evenly distributed and not pushed to the toes.

For anyone with normal to narrow feet, order true to size. The shoes may feel a bit snug the first time you wear them, but leather stretches to form fit to your foot. For someone who has normal width of feet, I bet they’ll feel perfect first time your wear them.

Love these shoes and I also have 4 kinds of shoes from Bali elf and this is probably an accurate review as I bought shoes in 8/8. 5 and 9 depending on if the shoe type. ( I bought them on sale. if your buying brand new you can give your measurements so probably even more accurate sizing).

These are okay, but certainly not perfect. The color is not as it is in the photo: think bright, royal blue instead of the cool ice blue. All the reviews claim that they’re true to size, but these are definitely at least a half size if not a full size to big for me.

The craftsman ship is also suspect: the rubber soles are already falling off the bottom before I’ve even worn them. I would return them, but I would not have time to get another pair before my wedding.

The leather is soft though, and even though they’re too big they are comfortable. I adore that you can select the heal size. Buy them if you have the time to sort out all the problems.

I really like this pair of Dunk Low Halloween, they are always in good condition and everything is clean. The packaging is also very attractive, size 11 suits me, fits very well and is nice.
