20 Best Shoes For Seniors Walking (2023 Updated)

For years I wore cross trainers only because they came in EEEE. Never like the roll off you felt in the heel. I walk 3-5 miles daily on a sidewalk, used to in a park which is too crowded to deal with these days.

You can tell these are walking shoe, the heel, and toe, don’t have that odd heel to toe roll feel, heel more damping in these, which is nice, over the cross trainers; what I don’t like is these only come in EEE as the largest wide.

What is wrong with Reebok? Do you think only people who have extra wide feet only need cross training shoes? They are slightly tighter then I like on the sides in the toe area, also I prefer the extra head room in the box toe area of an EEEE.

Other than the EEE over EEEE they are find. I did purchase them here, you can’t find shoes anymore local, which sucks. I had to return a pair from an online buy, from a well known site. I suspected, not sure, they might have been fakes.

They came without the Reebok box, a little research of the company with a very impressive long corporate name, seemed to be a Post Office box. Well, that is strange? I didn’t like the looks where the leather met the sole on one shoe.

So back they went. So, I ordered them from here to make sure I got a real Reebok. I wish they could come up with something, printed QR code on tongue, unique number, something you could check against as brick and mortar shoes carrying shoes are just disappearing or don’t care enough stock.

I knocked a star off for comfort only because I would prefer EEEE if they made them and the EEE just does fits. If you don’t have feet like a duck’s feet are wide, they are very comfortable.

Very comfortable shoe to wear all day for normal office work. I would not recommend for a half-marathon, I walked one and they are just too heavy. This is the 3rd pair I have bought, and they all tear and come apart in the same place on the outer edge above where the leather meets the midsole.

I usually get about 4-6 months out of them before they have to be replaced. The soul is still good, but not not the leather. Also, the heal tab or Achilles notch wears out very quickly, usually within the first 2 months.

The tongues don’t seem to be attached very well as every pair I have owned have had at least one tongue comes unstitched from the shoe. For the price of the shoe, I would think they quality would be better.

The comfort is great, but having to replace them every 6 months is not.

I have been looking for a sturdy leather walking shoe. My big toes tend to poke through the fabric mesh shoe uppers, so I was looking for a leather toe cap, thinking leather would be more durable. At first they were very comfortable with great heel cushion and padded soles, then my right baby toe got irritated by the stiff seam from the toe cap! I glued in gel pads on the inside of both shoes.

On the second walk, my right ankle was hurting from the stiff ridge cradling the ankle. I had to cut the leather down so it wouldn’t hurt. I should have gotten white leather shoes for summer. The black leather gets very warm (and it’s only March!).

I felt the difference from the light weight mesh fabric shoes. Still looking for the perfect walking shoe!.

ordered from here as direct replacement for my seven or eight year old Rockports. I like the Rockports because they offer wide and I have hobbit feet. I ordered everything the same but got the width even one wider which is perfect.

I am glad they offered wider than normal wide because the tongue has changed. It seems to have points at the top sides- it is weird. I guess this design change keeps grit and moisture out more but it adds a two rub points to the top of each foot.

Not an issue as I break in this pair so far. I love the comfort and all day walkability of this workhorse shoe.

Years ago I started a new job where I walked on concrete all day 10 hours a day. Within a month I was stumbling and limping in pain hardly able to walk, when a older employee approached me and ask about my problem.

I told him I was on my 3rd pair shoes already trying to help the pain. He told me one word, “Rockport”! This was back around 1993 and the only place around that sold them was in the next state about 100 miles away.

He said they would set me back around $110 but would be well worth it. Then next day he came in with a Rockport box and said he had found he had a new pair in the closet! I asked what I owed him and he said, give me $80 and they are yours.

I paid him and noticed as he was walking off, he had on a brand new pair! I opened the box and it was his old half worn out shoes he had been wearing the day before! I swapped out my new tennis shoes with these worn out old Rockports and after the week was over I had improved so much I was estatic! I wore those old shoes probably 6 months before I finally made the road trip from South Carolina into North Carolina to the /Rockport shoe store! I worked there 7 years with no more problems always wearing Rockport.

Now almost 30 years later and at 64 years old my knees are worn out and feet illing me again.

I have worn Rockport shoes like these for the past 20 to 30 years. I used to buy 2 pair every 6 months for work. These recent 2 I cannot wear. There is something wrong with the design or the materials used in the heel cup.

After 10 minutes in these shoes I could not walk without serious pain on the sides of my heels. The heel cups are very narrow and stiffer than any rockports I have ever owned. Seems like the heel cup is some kind of plastic behind the leather and its half the width of my heel.

Dont waste your money.

I have worn Sky Walk Walking shoes for years. I walk every day on sidewalks and asphalt and I love the support and cushioning of my Sky Walks. The fit is perfect for me. My heels don’t slip and the rubber sole has terrific traction, so I feel confident and supported.

I have had two total hip replacements recently, so I bought a new pair (in a different color) to start my new gait off on a “level playing field” on the sidewalks of New York. For me, Sky Walks are the best! Thank you!.

Fan of NB products for years. Running shoes, both street and trail, have been wonderful, esp since they come in a wider width that my foot needs. When it came time to replace my worn NB trail shoe, I gave this a look.

Stylish appearance, so relying on the NB reputation and past experience, I gave them a try. The second star is based on two things: the appearance, and the helpful loop on the back to pull the shoe on.

Otherwise, these shoes are disastrous. The fit was fine out of the box, but the smooth nylon laces, coupled with the nylon loops into which they lace (rather than holes) give the appearance of a custom fit, but do nothing to keep the shoe actually tied properly to the foot.

So, if you buy these, be prepared to purchase a set of laces that will stay tied. Worse than this is how the shoe completely changed my gait. I don’t walk extremely difficult trails, but these shoes altered how my feet and legs moved over even relatively smooth trails.

Evidence of this is the arch pain that extends up through my hamstrings to the muscles in my buttocks. You will not know these things by test-wearing them around the house so as not to dirty them in case you need to return.

You will only notice them after you’ve worn them in enough real-world situations to make them non-returnable. I would steer clear of these shoes, and it (literally) pains me to say this, bc NB has been the last refuge for me when it comes to properly-fitting shoes.

You’ve been warned.

I used to buy a lot of NB shoes. No, they weren’t fashionable. No, I wasn’t past middle age. I was young, and super athletic. NB fit because of their widths. In recent years, what with the fabric/cloth based footwear taking over from the leather sneakers, I’ve realized that some other companies offer more comfortable fits than they used to.

And those companies are easier to find in stock in more bricks and mortar locations. So I’ve started wearing those. Recently though I wanted to go back to NB because as I recalled things they provide a better structural support than their competitors.

So I pulled out three pairs of NB, checked the sizes (all the same) and made an online order. Surprisingly, these 669v2 fit very differently and are not the correct size for me. So I’ll be returning them.

Your particular experience as far as fit and comfort will probably differ, so take this comment with the appropriate wisdom. I ranked it 3 stars because the computer system insisted that I not skip this step.

I MUST select a Star Rating. I couldn’t give 5 stars because the shoes don’t fit me and I don’t actually wear them. They may be comfortable. They may be supportive. They may be durable. I don’t know.

I couldn’t give 4 stars because it’s not like it was an almost-amazing product but for a small issue. Yet, there is nothing in particular that I should use as justification to deduct from a 5 star rating.

What would be my critique for improvement in the future? NB should custom make my shoes? Would they even do that? Make all the shoes fit the same way as my other NB shoes? Would that even make sense? So I gave 3 stars.

The only shoes that fit me correctly. I have a narrow(A2) foot. These shoes are great. Problem is, they are always on back-order. Took over 3 months to get. I have another pair in white that I ordered on Jan.

1. Won’t get them until late July. Maybe.

The shoes do exactly what they are supposed to do–they support my injured ankle on one side of my body and help with my hip replacement on the other side. I don’t limp any more and I don’t even use my professional inserts.

The size 8 were too big and clumsy. If you only made half sizes. You also charge delivery and return fees, so more than $20. 00 Canadian is lost in fees alone. The next pair of athletic type shoes, size 7 were too small because the other shoes he ordered in size 8 were too large.

He kept them anyway and ordered a larger size hoping they would fit even though he didn’t have a discount till just today. We are very disappointed in the product. I first ordered the shoes when he was in the GrandRiver Freeport Hospital In Kitchener, Canada.

You had a dealer that sold or you could order Silvert’s shoes or clothing directly or a local dealer I could call and order from so there was no delivery or return charges.

I ordered these light weight walking shoes for my mother who is 93 and very difficult to buy shoes for. For the first time ever since I can remember she liked a pair of shoes the first time she tried them! We were astonished! She wears them all the time around the house.

She used to have pain in her feet and left heel. She’s stopped complaining about it! Thanks Silvert for making our lives so much easier. Now my mother wants another pair. My wife wants a pair for herself too.

I ordered these shoes for my 93 year old father and he loves them!! He is not mobile but needs to stand to get from his scooter to his chair so requires a good grip. He has swollen feet some days more than others and when we put these shoes on he felt so much better.

They look like a runner not like a slipper like his former ones did so he feels more comfortable in his long term care home. Bottom line if he’s happy I’m happy! Thanks Silverts!.

It is really hard for me to find shoes that I can wear longer than a few minutes before my feet virtually cripple me. I have plantars faciitis in both feet as well as Morton’s Neuroma in my left foot.

These shoes let me walk for most of the day without my feet hurting much at all. These shoes were the answer for me. Not only are they comfortable, they are light, easy to put on – I hate laces – and they look good plus they are available in the wide width.

On top of all that, the price is right. These shoes look like shoes that cost a lot more as they are well made. can’t go wrong with these. I plan on purchasing another pair as soon as I wear these out and at the rate I’m going that will be pretty soon.

The only change I would like to see is to make a few more colors available.

And that includes stiletto high heels with super pointy toes back in the day. No joke I bought these because I have neuropathy issues in my feet. I happily traded style and good looks for the comfort I anticipated these clunkers might provide.

But they have virtually NO flexibility and dig into my flesh to the point of breaking skin and causing sores on my feet. Furthermore, despite Dr. Leonards claims to the contrary, they have ZERO breathability.

I would give them less than one star if that were possible. Hate, hate, hate them.

I ordered the 8wide shoe. They came today, and put them on. My feet were happy! Now I can wear these to work tomorrow, and my feet will feel better than what I was wearing before. The other work shoes that I had were also slip resistant, but the material was hard.

These sneakers are manageable. I would recommend.
