20 Best Shoes For Obstacle Races (2023 Updated)

This was my first experience with On Shoes. I like so many things about this shoe including quality of construction, light weight, and innovative features. But in the end, it’s a road running shoe, and the one thing it is missing is any sort of cushion under the balls of the feat.

I wore these shoes once before I returned them. Granted, I was walking, not running. But on a standard 2 mile loop I normally do with my dogs, I returned home with extremely sore balls of the feet. I often do this same loop in a pair of Chaco flip-flops that have zero cushioning, only a hard rubber sole and when I return home my feet feel great.

If this pair of running shoes has less cushioning than a pair of hard soled flip-flops, they aren’t going to work for me, so I returned them. To be honest, flip flops have the advantage of allowing the foot work the way it was designed and absorb the shock using the arch, metatarsals and musculature.

(But no, I can’t do the barefoot running thing, I need shoes for running) When you confine your feet into a restrictive shoe, your feet rely more on the engineering of the shoe. When restricted this way, my running shoes need more cushioning.

To be fair, I am 6’4″ and over 200lbs. For someone with less weight to move around, these shoes may have enough cushioning.

I was the biggest ON avocate for years before the were popular. The cloudrunner (defunct line) was the thing dreams are made of. They took away my back and knee pain. Why did those not sell well? They were god aweful ugly.

They then went to the cloudcruiser. These looked great and had the same some (different foam desity than the runner I believe), but the upper was so poorly made I would put dime size holes in them within a month (wore 3 pairs).

I wore the 1st pair of cloudrunners for almost 3 years, well after I should have been out of them. The cloudsurfer survives, but only in look as the latest line fixed the issue of pushing your forward when standing and would tear out a front loop in a couple of months.

The cushioned feeling on those new shoes is gone though. I have turned to see the alternatives and purchase the cloudace, cloudstratus, and cloudflow to hopefully fill the hole in my heart. None have succeeded and these are the worst of the shoes I’ve tried.

The cloudace and cloudstratus are definitely for running only and you can tell as the stratus is slanted forward and the ace has a very curved bottom so you can’t find a spot where much of your foot is sharing the load of your bodys’ weight at any given time.

At least those shoes had nice cushioned insoles (though insole material will break down quickly). These cloudflow shoes, like the title says, feel like walking on bricks. My wife also had a pair and said they weren’t as comfortable as the old cloudsurfers (by a lot in my opinion) and they broke down quickly.

I’m done with ON. I can’t afford $150 for pair of shoes that last 3-4 months. I am a casual runner and probably 20 lbs over weight. I’m not olympic athlete. If you can’t build a shoe for me I need to find a new brand that will.

I use to walk on average about 20k steps a day in 2019, but due to pain in knees and my right foot, I stopped walking outside. For the record, I wear prescribed orthopedic insoles in all my athletic shoes when walking; unfortunately, it didn’t matter what tennis shoe I put on, I would have pain.

Therefore; I stopped walking outside and started working out inside my home and doing chair exercises. In 2020, I visited my doctor’s office, I noticed he had on these all black beautiful tennis shoes; I asked him about them, and he told me how much he loved his shoes.

I immediately ordered me some waterproof running shoes by “ON. ” Instantly I noticed how comfortable they were, I kept them on all day; I saw a definite reduction in both knee and foot pain. I finally got enough nerves to walk outside again.

they are by far the most comfortable athletic shoes I have ever worn. I am ready to order my second pair.

I found this shoe by accident at Cabellas on clearance but in grey and they are very comfortable. I immediately got on the internet to see if I can find other colors and I found the black ones here. I like the fact that they have a real rubber sole and plenty of traction unlike other shoes that have foam bottoms.

They feel like good quality and I would definitely buy them again in the future. Great alternative shoe to the Woke Nikes which I will never buy again. Keep up the great work Under Armor.

The shoes fir amazingly perfect, didnt need any breaking in at all. Wore them the first day all day while working standing on hard concrete, havent taken them off since they’re that great of a shoe. Only problem with the blue ones is that is not a bright orange color on the soles and a few other spots it’s actually a very bright pink color, if I didnt work in construction it would be fine, but they guys at work cant stop teasing me, so they’re comfortable and entertaining at the same time.

LOVE this shoe highly recommend everyone to get a pair for themselves and for their loved ones.

Great looking shoes and a great fit. I’ve had bad luck finding good shoes to fit my feet. I gave flat wide feet. But these shoes fit perfectly and I can wear them all day. I love UA shirts and hats and now their shoes.

You won’t be sorry.

This is my 7th or 8th pair of altras, of which I’ve had Lone Peaks, Torin 4s and 5s, and these escalantes. I got these as a warranty replacements because two of my Torin 5s were falling apart at under 300 miles of road use.

I only just ordered a replacement for these Escalante 2. 5s after nearly 400 miles of use. They are a great shoe. THey have held up incredibly well and I feel that the quality is better than the Torins, particularly in the bottoms.

THese are a more minimalist shoe than the Torin, and I assumed that break-in would suck for my calves/shins, but the adjustment period was actually pretty seamless. I wore them overy other run for a week, and after that, switched completely.

I was irritated at first that these don’t have a heel lock hole, since I alwys lace with one to prevent chronic slippage. But I really didn’t need it at all. The hardest thing to get used to about these shoes is that the upper is stretchy, and when you first start running in them, you feel like your foot is sliding around.

It doesn’t feel as locked-in, tight, or secure as a typical shoe. I actually got used to that, though, and have found it to ultimately be a feature, not a bug. It gives the shoe more bounce, better corners (again, once you adjust), and a lighter feel.

The shoe itself feels more minimalist than it is, and I think that’s a good thing. You feel like you’re barefoot in some ways, but I have had no issue with soreness on long runs. I was hesistant about these, but ultimately, I think they’re a great everyday shoe.

They’re fast, light, and flexible. I deicded to try the Escalante 3s next, and if they aren’t as good, I’ll likely return to the 2. 5s.

The cushioning on these is phenomenal, not too much that it would get in your way, and super responsive + bouncy. Very breathable and comfortable upper. These are one of Altra’s most popular running shoes, so I feel like they need to make a WIDE version of these, or else switch back to Original Footshape.

A trend I have been seeing in Altra shoes in the last couple years is the increasing move toward Standard and now Slim Footshape (which really isn’t Footshape at all), mainly because of their belief that “sleeker” and “snugger” shoes are faster and more stable, which doesn’t make any sense and really seems to go against the company’s founding values, don’t you think? I do have EXTREMELY wide feet, so I can’t really speak for everyone else, but I am pretty sure most other customers are starting to feel the same way.

Other ways this amazing shoes can improve: More Varied and Creative Colorways (moving beyond the 3 simple designs you have now). Some designs on the upper would be nice instead of just a solid color and the logo.

Laces are VERY long, which isn’t really a problem, but it can get annoying sometimes. Also, they tend to be a little slippery when tightening and sometimes loosen while running. Slightly shorter laces and “grippier” laces would be awesome.

I’ve been struggling with shin splints since taking up running again recently and have been looking for a solution. I’ve been trying to adjust my gait in my current running shoes (brooks) to toe strike since that’s supposed to help, with little success.

Then my boyfriend started going on and on about his zero drop shoes and how they foster a more natural running gait and how it’s really helped him so I decided, what the heck, I’ll give it a shot. Oh.

my. god. Let me just tell you folks. These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve EVER put on my feet. They are just about perfect in every way. I’ve always had to buy expensive, bulky running shoes AND expensive insoles to get any kind of shock absorption to help my shins.

Not these shoes, they work perfectly with no insole replacement! Not to mention the stock insoles that come in the shoes are actually way nicer than any other stock insoles in my experience and I’ve worn them all, brooks, nikes, reebok, adidas.

I have a high arch but my arch doesn’t collapse so I do really well in a neutral shoe, which is definitely what I’d consider this shoe to be. That being said, this shoe gives great, natural arch support without being rigid and it cushions in all the right places without being a heavy, clunky shoe.

I also LOVE the wider toe box and stretchy, breathable, sock-like upper. I’M OBSESSED. I’m sure I will be buying more. Altra has made a lifelong customer out of me.

I enjoy my opal/white/lilac/green-colored ASICS Noosa Tri 13 Women’s Casual Running Shoes, which mostly I wear for walking exercise. Toes roomy enough – important. Cushioning under foot length is enough thus far – important.

Appreciate flexible & curved fore-sole of shoe for reducing strain on foot when walking or running – important. Feel lightweight, not clunky, stiff, or heavy. I strained plantar fascia under arch & length of foot with other stiff shoes & got these that were a relief.

Also, I was able to fit doctor-recommended arch supports (REDI-thotics; not too expensive) into the shoes for my flexible (partially flat) arches (and do stretch exercises for my arches too). Could use slightly longer shoe laces due to a bit of foot swelling at times with arch inserts & nice socks filling shoe but do OK.

Also, the slick, synthetic fiber (?) shoelaces sometimes come untied as I walk & exercise. Time and use will prove how above features and the shoes in general last. Glad to have comfort and relief for now.

Would like to know more about products used to make the shoes and laces and where those products originated from and how they were made. Thank you.

So glad I found these shoes after suffering a broken foot. Although the bone was technically healed, I still had pain and swelling. I was looking for something comfortable, with excellent support. After finding the NOOSA TRI 13 on the ASICS website, and seeing so many 5 star reviews, I decided to try them out.

I ordered a half size larger than normal (because of the swelling) and was a bit worried that the left shoe would be too big. However, I was pleased to find that was not the case. As soon as I put them on I could tell these shoes were exactly what I needed.

They are extremely comfortable, I’ve been able to walk without limping and can spend more than a few hours on my feet pain free. I’ve purchased a number of other shoes/brands in my search for the right shoe, but none have been as comfortable and supportive as the NOOSAs.

The bright and happy color is a bonus!.

My first ever Noosa TRI’s and I LOVE them. A bit roomier in the forefoot than I’m accustomed to with ASICS, but it wasn’t an issue. By far the lightest shoes I’ve ever run in — literally like having nothing on your feet, but in a good way.

I like the shaped heel counter. It’s firm so as to prevent folding inward when jamming your foot in during transition, but cushioned enough that it doesn’t dig in to the Achilles tendon on the run. And the integrated pull loop on the tongue is BRILLIANT.

I thought the optional elasticized speed laces which ASICS provided was a nice touch, although they’re almost too short, even for my 7. 5’s. Also, they could do with a retaining end cap for the laces to stop them slipping out of the spring loaded adjusters.

I ended up cannibalizing a retired pair of shoes for them. All in all, awesome shoes!!.

best shoe for muddy fields – outstanding, confident grip. feet may ache with longer runs as is not the most comfortable of shoes. Running briefly tolerable on tarmac. Practical and easy to cold wash in washing machine.

Build quality on interior good but niggly minor defects between material seams not as smooth as should be for shoe of this value – potential for blisters. That said not enough overall to detract from the appeal and benefit of using this shoe.

Had forgotten how much grip these shoes give. The new improved g260 though is a different level. Just raced spartan race in Wales at the weekend and anyone who was there knows what the conditions were like.

100% cannot fault the grip these shoes gave. 5🌟s from me.

Used them for my first spartan race (Blue Mountain, Ontario, Canada) and they functioned great. Lots of muddy climbs and downhills with zero slippage. They are not the most comfortable shoe, but not terrible either.

Functionally they are top shelf!!.

This was my first time trying the VJ XTRM having been a longtime Salomon Speedcross customer. I was looking for a Spartan race shoe with a decent rock plate to help preserve the feet from the impacts of Beast and Ultra racing.

While these are expensive in comparison, if they perform as taughted it would be well worth it! Here’s the verdict: Shipment arrived in about 7 days from time of order. The item is well built with stitching, light weight material and lock lace tech.

During my first couple runs, you can definitely notice the light weight aspect of the shoe which is nice. Fit was to size but just a tad small so if you are on the fence definitely go up a 1/2 size. I train on rocky single track trails and I did not feel that the rock plate was robust enough for me personally compared to the sole padding I get from my Salomon Speedcross.

My feet were pretty sore after just 10 miles on this terrain but I’m slightly heavier at 187lbs and may just need to get used to them as these are definitely an adaptation period. I’ll be trying these at the Tahoe championships in a few weeks.

Wish they had some other color options. Overall, quality materials but wish the sole was more protective with better rebound.

The Finnish-made VJ XTRM claim to have “the best grip on the planet. ” Being 3/4 Finnish, I was concerned whether they would pass muster. The critical test is a steep cross slope on rock. If the foot slides off the footbed or the shoe loses traction with the rock, that is bad.

I run cross country in the northern New Mexico wilderness and average 3 hours on both Saturdays and Sundays. 40 years of competitive racing and adventure running have honed my feel for my shoes. These rides are curve lasted and narrow, and I was concerned whether the forefoot was too tight.

Nope – that is what holds the foot in place and is well-designed. After 3 hours this morning across rugged rocky terrain, no hot spots or pains. No cushioning and a full rock-plate means that fit is all and these XTRM shoes are top notch!.

I used VJ Maxx on a 30 mile mountain run up a 13k ft peak last weekend. The Rubber performed great not only on the 30 degree slabs, but also on steep, loose descents! I even played on a V2 boulder problem with them and they edged almost as well as approach shoes! These shoes are incredibly light and agile.

No noted change in performance when wet or muddy. My underfoot felt great most of the day, just some tenderness in the last 5 miles (high complements for a long rocky run!!). The toe box is roomy and well protected, so I never felt impact on my toe when i stubbed it on a rock or on steep descents.

The upper and sole held up throughout. The tongue might benefit from being redesigned in the next version of this model. The tongue doesn’t stabilize that well on the dorsum of the foot, and gets progressively baggy by the toe box between each re-tie (note I tried multiple lacing strategies, none of which solved this problem).

The tongue caused surprising hot spots on the dorsum of my feet. Additionally, the material on the sides of the tongue took the brunt of the wear against the laces, with material flaking off midway through my run.

All in all, I’m super excited about this shoe, definitely wearing it for upcoming all-terrain mountain runs/scrambles, and look forward to seeing how the design progresses over the years. Thanks for offering an amazing shoe!!.

Fantastic, waterproof, supportive shoes! I don’t think there’s anything that I don’t like about these shoes. They are easy to slip on, the laces are quick and easy to adjust, the stiffness of the shoes offers a lot of support (if you like support, these are for you; if you like barefoot shoes, they probably are not), the tread is deep for wet and muddy trails, and they have been completely waterproof for me so far (about 2 years of use).

Really easy to wash off the outsides since they’re waterproof; you can just walk through puddles or streams. They have also held up really well with quite a bit of (clumsy) use and still retain their support.

I choose these for shorter trail walks, longer hikes, and climbing approaches before I wear traditional hiking boots; they’re easy to pack into my bag after changing into climbing shoes. I typically wear a size 6 or 6.

5, and the 6 fits perfectly with regular or thin socks; a bit snug with thicker socks, but not impossible. I would say true to size, but maybe try out a half size up if you wear pretty thick socks. If you ever need to use ladders, the tread is large enough that you kind of have to slot it onto thinner rungs, but it isn’t an issue by any means.

I am a long-time buyer of salomon speed cross-shoes. I absolutely love them and hike and run in them daily year round. I’m on my fourth pair of speed cross, three of which have been gore tex because I live in a temperate rainforest (Alaska).

Yes, the soles wear down with wear, but to me they are worth it for the grip, fit, protection, and support. However, this last pair started smelling horribly after wearing for 2 months. I’ve never had issues with shoe smell and I still don’t have any shoe smell from my past two pairs of speedcross gore-tex shoes that I’ve worn in the same conditions for years.

The smell is so bad that my car fills up with the smell within a 10 min drive, my house smells up when I bring them inside to dry. I bought some shoe disinfectant recommended on the salomon website, but it still can’t touch it.

I don’t know what changed in the construction of these shoes, but please please fix it because I love these shoes. I’m now trying other brands and they just don’t compare. but they don’t smell. I still wear these smelly ones when I’m alone, but I can barely stand it myself, let alone wear it around other people.

Just had my first trail hike in these super comfy Speedcross shoes – no breaking in necessary! I had perfect traction up and down rocks despite the wetness of the rugged coastal terrain. I did’t step deep into the wet stuff but my feet were certainly dry after a couple of hours in general wet and mud.

And the shoes easily sprayed off back at home. My feel are more pointy than square so I love the slightly more narrow profile of this shoe. I normally wear size 11 in other brands of running shoes (with orthotics) but a full size smaller in Salomon amphibious shoes.

I only dropped down a half size in these, to 10. 5, so I could leave plenty of room for both the orthotics and warmer socks for fall/winter hiking. It was perfect. Again the slightly narrower shoe hugs my foot well enough that some extra toe room doesn’t make them too loose.

The Salomon lacing system also contributes to the comfort.

I purchased the Racer for interval training, tempo runs and racing distances up to a 1/2 marathon. I am so pleased on how they fit and how they perform. Straight out of the box, I did a 7 mile run, had one other run, then two weeks later, I raced a 1/2 marathon, all with no issues.

The material is mesh and lighter – as promoted. I choose the black color with purple/pink bottoms. I have a size 9. 5 which is my usual size. The tongue is thinner on these but not the same design as the newest Escalantes or Torin – those tongues cut into the top of my foot, but the Racer tongue does not.

Some reviews are complaining that these are too narrow, however, I love the fit. I do not have a wide foot, but rather a curved toe box, so I need more room there but not in the the whole shoe. For comparison, Lone Peaks are too roomy for me and the Rivera is slightly too narrow for me.

I’ve worn Escalante, Superior, Torin (too soft for me) and currently use the Provision for training runs and distance. I like that this base feels firmer, as my ankles can roll in a softer shoe. My recent 1/2 marathon was on a rainy day, 23 degrees with the wind chill.

On my warm-up, my socks got wet and the wind did freeze my toes; however, once I was racing and the rain stopped, I did not have an issue. Although my feet got wet, the water drained. I knew my toes might get cold but took the risk.

If you are in warmer temps, running in the rain will not be an issue (make sure you have good quality socks). They have been fine on other runs. Also, I’ve been at a 16 mile trail race where a participant wore these and was so happy, with no issues.

So happy I purchased these.

I have bought vivobarefoot shoes religiously for years. I was buying this shoe again since I loved it much because I was worried it would go out of stock. After I tried the new pair on I realized the sole had a different cut than before and it doesn’t fit my foot as nice.

The forefoot is narrower and no longer shapes around the big toe as well. These shoes no longer feel that they take the natural shape of a foot, which vivobarefoot has been known for. I noticed the print of the size in the tongue was different as well so I’m guessing they have a different manufacturer.

My other recent vivobarefoot purchases have been just as disappointing. I hope vivobarefoot will correct this and go back to their original cut of the sole, otherwise I’m afraid I will no longer be buying their products.

Incredibly comfortable shoes for every day use. After a month of wearing these shoes my feet are stronger and feel my toes are regaining their natural alignment. Perfect for the autumn/winter – I have been through mud, wet leaves, puddles and have no water leak inside.

The grip has been adequate and have not experience any slips. No visible signs of wear after a month of every day use. Great shoes and I’ll be definitely purchasing more from Vivobarefoot. Delivery was quick and delivered in a waterproof delivery bag.

Remarkable, improved experience with lifting weights. I am 71 years of age and I have been weight lifting for over 15 years as part of my care plan for aging well. The program I do involves 1. Squats 2.

Snatch grip deadlifts 3. Dead lifts 4. Press I feel overwhelmingly grounded. Your product is extraordinary. My daughter who lives in England sent me your product details. Initially I felt it was too expensive however after experiencing how positive my training became, IT WAS WORTH EVERY CENT.

I have been a Salomon fanatic for many years now and have always swore by these shoes and convinced many of my friends and family to purchase a pair over the years. I am a keen trail runner and hiker and have had 2 pairs of salomons in the past and all have been great and i wore them that much i wore the tread off! My last pair being worn 3 times a week for nearly 10 years which were amazing! My husband purchased me a pair of these and i was so excited to use them.

Disappointingly the plastic structure in the back of the shoe is digging into both of my heels causing it to swell, bleed and blister. An issue that i have never had before in any shoe. To the point on a 4 mile trail run last month i nearly chose to go barefoot half way through! There is much less cushioning on this model and i am not very impressed at all.

I can’t even walk the dog in them. The tread and grip on the new model is much improved but i literally cannot wear them. SALOMON PLEASE HELP!!!!.

I was hesitant to even try them them on, because I had two other pairs of Salomon shoes 10y ago and I found them too wide and hence not a great support because my feet were danci g to much in then. I am also not a fan of these strings, I prefer the regular laces.

BUT when the salesman insisted, I gave in. When I put them on they are supper comforrable but also firmly grip my feet. The support and the grip on the terraine during the hike is fantastic. I especially like that they are narrow, becuase I have narrow feet size 38/39 and then hiking shoes have to be size 40 and then they usually come chunky and wide and you loose controll of the steps.

So I would especially recommend them to all the ladies with narrow very feminine feet. Excellent purchase and I am now back to being happy Salomon customer.

I’m long time fan of sppedcross. However, this model they changed some things. The shoe lost it’s waterproofness within 6 months. It came apart at stitching seem where foot bends. And, like the other reviewers, I too experienced an offensive smell.

Super intense. It will overtake the vehicle they are in, or a whole room of a house. I’ve never had stinky feet. EVER. It’s almost like water got trapped inside shoe and turns musty smelling. Terrible.

Can’t be worn man. I did reach out to company, and they WERE Fabulous to work with! The really do warranty their products. Now I get to find a new pair of salomons! Thanks for being a great company. Speedcross4 design lasted longer, more rugged, never smelled.

Didn’t loose the waterproofing.

So far pretty happy with the shoes. I have run about 30km in them. Shoe run true to size in length, however, the toe box/forefoot is rather roomy. The shoes have lots of cushion without feeling unstable.

I wanted to try these as I am typically a heel striker. What I found is that the heel is very thick and contacts the pavement “too soon” when I run at a slow pace. I am not a fast runner (avg. 5:50 min/km).

Shoe definitely feels better at a moderate pace, in my opinion. Compared to my Nike Vomero 16’s, these feel cushier. I would say these shoes are for anyone looking for a high cushion shoe as long as you’re not a prominent heel striker.

I had partial spinal fusion surgery this past March and am just now getting back to where I can do real physical exercise. Running is out of the question but my surgeon gave me the all clear for as much walking and hiking as I want to do.

I’m a longtime ASICS wearer and in the past have usually chosen the Kayano. This time I wanted maximum heel cushion and energy return and chose the Novablast. Great choice, fantastic shoe. The fit is great, the heel hold is rock solid.

I like the new feature on the midsole, in the ball of the foot, to provide extra propulsion. This new add-on makes the energy to go back to your body instead of being dissipated through the ground. But I highly advise this shoe for runners with proper running form only.

If yu are a heel-striker than Novablast can actually make you slower or event put you at risk of injury. Good fitting. Asics shoes could be wider at the toes-box tough.

I’ve been looking to replace my Merrell “Tough Mudders” for a few years. I walk dogs on hilly dirt trails that have tree roots and small rocks and those old shoes were perfect for keeping my footing and feeling the trail Bu.

Unfortunately, more recent barefoot models form Merrell do not have soles that work for these conditions (too slippery). Well here comes the MTL Skyfire. I’m older now so appreciate the extra cushioning.

It is the sole that is the biggest selling point for me. I get good grip up and downhill. Have to be careful on any mossy rocky flat surfaces though (not enough grip). Mud//dirt clears out of the sole easily due to the design.

Warning: the peacock (green) rock (grey) are slightly different sizes. The grey is slightly roomier in the forefoot. However, the green–which I thought about returning– did loosen up after two days of wear.

Comfortable out of the box and the sole does become more flexible and responsive with wear. I agree with other reviewers that for an older foot (and that’s what I have now:)) the extra support and cushion is appreciated.

Hope to see more options with this sort of sole with perhaps a less cushy barefoot model with a “no-tie” pull lace option.

I took my Merrell MTL Skyfire shoes on a very muddy, hilly, root-covered and rocky 5-mile trail run for my first trial. I wanted to see how they held up under these challenging conditions, as these conditions are pretty typical of the trail runs I do.

I was pleasantly surprised with the shoes’ performance. I slipped slightly only once or twice, and that, in itself, was amazing given the conditions. The shoes were very comfortable, and my feet stayed mostly dry, except for when I crossed a small stream and my foot became completely submerged! That wasn’t the shoes’ fault, it was mine.

Another thing I loved about the shoes was that they cleaned up very easily and quickly and also dried relatively quickly (in front of our dehumidifier). The only thing about the shoes I did not like is that the toe box is much more narrow than my Merrell zero-drop running flats.

I like a toe box with plenty of room, nothing that crowds my toes like most shoes do.

Thank goodness there there is a website that provides US 5 Women’s shoes. Mostc websites stop at US size 6. BrandHouse stocks many of these smaller sizes so it is a great company to buy shoes off particularly if you are disadvantaged by your small foot size.

The shoes are light and shoe amazing grip in slippery conditions. They breathe well and dry quickly. My daughter who is an adult loves wearing them. Thankyou Brand house for stocking so many other varieties of shoes you don’t see on other websites or stores.

Unfortunately for me they were really thin. I am size 45 EU, the length was just right, but my feet were bursting over sides, it was actually difficult to get my foot into them. I don’t consider myself to have super wide feet, just a bit above average for the UK.

I liked everything else about them. They seemed well made, the delivery and packing were good and they made returns really easy and refunded in good time. Can’t say how they were to walk on or run with.

This is my second pair of Icebug running shoes. I absolutely love the way they fit, they are light on my feet, fit snug and feel sturdy on different types of terrain. I wore the first pair for well over 500 miles of running and was convinced I would purchase a second pair.

Perfect fit, perfect grip, perfect feel. Excellent neutral trailrunning shoe. Fits nicely, gives constanlty groundfeeback and the low drop the shoes lets your legs adjust the stride almost naturally.

Best buy (and run) in years.

These are amazing!!! I was quite hesitant about buying them as I was convinced the shoe would either sacrifice cushioning for grip or that the grip would not stand up to both deep mud and be able to stick to wet rock and wood.

They have been absolutely amazing though through thick soft mud, trails, gravel tow paths, water and have ample cushioning and spring in the step. They stick to slippery wet solid surfaces like wood bridges and rock and they drain really well and dry relatively quickly.

Awesome winter shoe and they would make a great SwimRun shoe, they are built to last! It’s worth wearing them in even for a short while before taking them out as the upper is pretty robust. Fits true to size for me, I have a slightly wider toe box but wear 9.

5 in ON & Nike and the fit in these gives a secure controlled feeling perfect for anything loose under foot.

I had the earlier version of this shoe. I’ve been buying work out shoes for 40 years. My old Innov 8 shoes are the best i have ever worn. Sadly, the new version runs a bit narrow. If you need a large toe box this is not for you.

But you will not find a better grip for multiple terrains and not too much, not too little weight and material between you and the road/trail. Just right! If you like zero drop and a highly functional shoe I heartily recommend these shoes.

I haven’t had these shoes long enough to rate their durability. I live in Idaho with mountain trails in my backyard. Typically, I work out with on those trails with my much heavier Salomon Speed Cross 5s.

But, when I want to go fast over short distances, preserve my leg strength over longer distances, or run off-trail I choose my G 235s. They are light, fit snuggly, and grip the terrain. Here in Idaho where cheat grass and squirrel tail awns can ruin any venture off trail, these uppers are pretty much impervious to those nasty stickers.

They are an obvious choice for orienteering competition.

It’s been about 3 years now that I have been into trail running. In that time frame, I have attempted a variety of shoe brands from Altra, Solomon, ASICS, and a few others. Without a doubt, Solomon is my preferred brand.

I greatly enjoyed the speedcross 4 shoe, and even purchased a second pair as I had issues with the top section of the toe box ripping over time. After owning the second pair of Speedcross 4’s for a few months I found this pair online, and given a backpacking trip that was upcoming I figured the built-in gaiter would benefit the trip.

It has now been about 8 months of owning this shoe and I have not looked back once. These are incredibly lightweight, have ridiculously impressive traction on nearly every element, and breath incredibly well!! With that being said, there are some downsides that personally I don’t feel outweigh the good- however it is important to note These are extremely minimal in the top section- the amount of fabric is crazy thin, and although great for breathability, does allow for plenty of moisture (even the dew from plants are noticeable).

Additionally, the quick lace system of the Solomon shoes is always incredible, however they did not give a great option for storing the excess lace. At the moment, I have found looping it under the front-row eyelet allows it to hold well, yet this does not look particularly great nor it is easy to stuff under once the shoe is snug to the foot.

All in all, the few downsides I have noticed do NOT outweigh the positives. These are perfect for nearly every trail, given the conditions are dry enough for the trip. The built-in gaiter has prevented any debris from entering the shoe, and the weight of these shoes is unnoticeable once on.

Give these a try!.

Wanted something with aggressive lugs for the English fells in winter. These looked ideal, far more aggressive than the other SG shoes. Trying them on at home, the fit felt perfect. Walking around the house, however, and I could feel the narrowness in the midfoot against the bony protrusion that my 5th metatarsal gives me on outside of each foot about halfway down.

Now, I do normally feel some pressure here with all my shoes, but with the Cross 2 it was actually painful as I walked, almost like a grinding. My guess is that it’s exactly at the line where the outsole material comes up the side of the shoe and stops, just unlucky for my foot shape and this shoe I guess.

Shame, as otherwise I thought they would be perfect. Scoring 4/5 because otherwise I think this shoe would have been perfect. I don’t have particularly narrow feet, I was quite surprised how roomy they felt inside considering how small they look on the outside, but the bony bit on my foot was the showstopper for me.

I took a 10. 5 which is the same size as my S/Lab Ultra 3s. I take an 11 in the Sense Ride, Wildcross and Ultra /Pro.

I bought these from another site in the sales but I’ve been blown away by them so thought I’d leave a review. I’ve had various s-lab shoes, and clothing, for years. Top drawer equipment for trail running.

These shoes are possibly the best I’ve purchased. Up there with the s-lab sense ultra range for proprioception. At first they’re very difficult to get on I actually thought about returning and sizing up, I’m glad I never.

I have the ultra glide in an 8. 5 UK and got these in the same size. The last is a lot more fitted than I’m used to but I kept them on for 4 hours around the house to get used to the feel. I had my first run today and I only did 8k on road/pavement/groomed trail/grass/stickymuddy trails and they excelled on all terrain, on sloppy wet mud I wouldn’t entertain them, lugs are too small.

The energy return is incredible, I run fore/mid foot so they suit my gait fine. They want to go fast, I can’t really explain it, I did go faster than usual according to my watch. I would highly recommend these.

Persevere with getting them on and wear them in, I’ve purchased a shoehorn to assist. I also have normal feet and wore with thin socks, I had no issues with hotspots or anything, I think I would use these up to half marathon distance and see if I could go further.

I don’t think there’s a lot of room for foot swell tbh.

I was a major fan of the carbon x2. Running a lot of half marathons, it’s a refreshing toe-off on those latter miles that need to stay peppy. The carbon x3 is no different there, however the new knit upper leaves a little more stretch and a little less response in my opinion.

I love the design, and it feels amazing to land on, but my heel does slip just ever so slightly. The newly designed upper could use some more tweaking. But it’s still An amazing shoe and is a real road ripper!.

I’ve tended to disfavor cushy shoes and carbon plates (I often run in “minimalist shoes,” or just moderately cushioned neutral running shoes). These, however, are great. They are lightweight, comfy, and the forward nudge of the carbon plate feels natural rather than forced.

Happy I got them. Sizing does seem a tad too large. A size down would surely be too small, but there’s just a little too much toe room in this size. Not so much that it’s a deal-breaker.

I’ve been running for almost a decade now and I’ve been a loyal Brooks Ghost customer for most of that time. However, my most recent pair of ghosts faded pretty quickly, and so I started to research other shoes.

I found that the endorphin speeds were very loved by other runners and decided to wait for the release of the 3s. I just ran in them this morning and shaved 22 seconds off my usual tempo pace during a 5 mile run.

They feel incredible-I can feel them subtly propelling/bouncing me into my next stride. But it’s not harsh feeling at all or so cushioned that you sink and lose energy – it’s the perfect balance of spring, responsiveness and softness.

They are also incredibly lightweight. The overall experience helped to make my legs feel completely weightless and refreshed like I’d just come off a rest week. I honestly can’t believe I waited this long to try a plated shoe.

They are absolutely going to help me run more efficiently and shave time off my tempo and threshold runs. I will add my natural pace is just under 7 minutes /mile, race pace anywhere from 5:50-6:30. I can’t comment on durability yet, but so far I’m extremely impressed and excited to put some more mileage on these babies.

I’m a true 7. 5 and purchased that same size, they fit well even a bit on the loose side. I have a bit of a bunion on my left foot and the toebox is wide enough in the normal /medium width to accommodate that without any sort of pressure or rubbing.

If you are a faster paced runner who wants a high performance shoe that you can use as effectively on race day as you can on training days, this is your shoe. Saucony, make some more colors of these bad boys please!.

I purchased my first pair of Saucony Endorphin Pro shoes from a discount sporting goods website in August of 2021. The first time I wore them, I felt like I was running on air. Each step felt cushioned and springy and I could really feel the speedroll technology.

In these shoes I ran PRs in 5k and 10 mile races. Hands down the best shoes I have ever run in! I am currently training for a half marathon and wanted a new pair of Endorphin Pro’s to wear in my race.

I purchased the Endorphin Pro 2 shoes at full price in March of 2022 after researching extensively. I was under the impression that the only changes were the pull tab on the back of the shoe and the reinforcement in the middle of the laces.

The first time I ran in these shoes, I was sorely disappointed. There was no springy feeling or propelling forward like my previous Pros. They felt like a cheap, mediocre running shoe. At a price of $200+, I was determined to give them a chance.

I ran in them for 2 more training sessions and by the end of a 7 mile run, I was nearly in tears because my forefoot and toes hurt so badly. It was like running on concrete. When I called customer service, the representative informed me that I could not return the shoes because they were worn.

She also informed me that the Pro2 shoes were designed to have less cushion. Nowhere in my research had I seen that information before buying the shoes. I have gone back to training in my original Pro shoes and once they are worn out I will be looking for another brand of running shoe.

I just received the Endorphin Speed 3 and have only put in 10 miles so far but I’ve been a serious runner long enough and own/owned many good running shoes to know that this one’s a winner. I run 50+ miles per week (both the road and trails) so I have quite a collection to rotate on a regular basis and I was immediately able to tell that the Speed 3 will turn out to be my most used and versatile shoes.

Most racing and speed-oriented shoes just aren’t comfortable or stable enough for daily running. Daily training shoes are comfortable but not exciting or as fun to run in as racers. The Speed 3 somehow combines the best elements of both in one seamless package.

Although I haven’t taken this out on races yet but two fast 5-mile runs tell me that it will do just fine for racing. It’s also at least as comfortable and stable as my daily trainers, so I expect to use the Speed 3 a lot for my everyday road running needs.

I’ve seen and read dozens of reviews and I can definitely concur that the hype is real for the Endorphin 3. It’s comfortable, light, fast, stable, and just plain fun to run in. What more can one ask for? This is the one road running shoes I’ll take with me on trips (business or pleasure) along with one trail runner (if needed).

I just know I won’t sacrifice anything with the Speed 3. I already have the Pro 3 for racing/speed but that’s what I’ll save that for. Most of the time, it’ll be Speed 3. Now I’ve got my eyes set on the Edge to round out my trail runners collection.

Saucony really knocked it out of the park with the Endorphin Speed 3.
