20 Best Shoes For Black Suit (2023 Updated)

My late father wore Florsheim shoes. He kept several pairs polished and wore them all of this life. So did I for the longest time. But somewhere along the road of life. I slipped away. Why?? I can’t remember.

I just ordered a pair recently. They were slightly narrow. So I sent them back, for a no questions asked. Fast and free return. Florsheim exchanged them for the same size but with a little more width.

WOW! They fit perfectly and feel great! They look outstanding and are well made. Now I remember why my dad loved them so. Unlike most brand names of products that have sold out through the years and lowered their quality.

Apparently. Florsheim is not one of them. The design, workmanship, comfort and attention to detail is still there after all these years. No. I’m not affiliated with the Florsheim Co in anyway. It’s just that.

In a world full of “Made In China” goods. It’s refreshing to return to quality and consistency. Do yourself a favor. Spend the money and take care of your feet. By wearing a pair of well made, genuine Florsheim shoes that display class.

Stick with the brand name that has earned the respect of Grandads, Fathers and Sons. Thank you Florsheim!.

We bought these for my husband for a wedding. The fit was amazing and the style was exactly what we were looking for. Most of the time my husband has to go a size up because of poor quality – not with these.

And my husband, after wearing all day at a family wedding commented that these were the most comfortable dress shoes that he’s ever worn. I has a nice little flashback, because Florsheim was the only brand that my daddy would wear, and they lasted forever.

I’m glad to know that the quality is still there!.

Very poor quality control. Leather was dyed poorly and inconsistently cut. Definitely not worth the full retail price. I bought a pair at a large department store as a close-out for less than 1/2 retail price; however, even at this highly discounted price, these shoes were no bargain given the poor quality.

Didn’t notice many of the imperfections until I got them home. Will probably return them. I will not purchase another pair of Allen Edmonds again. There are much higher quality options in this price range.

Disappointing.

I only wear Allen Edmonds for business, since 1986. Great company and products. My collection isn’t huge but what I have was recrafted several times and look like new. And so, it has been awhile since I bought AE new.

Also my feet have grown larger with age and sedentary lifestyle that’s left me needing to lose some weight. My existing pair of Park Ave shoes are a tight squeeze at 12D. The Park Ave shoe model is my favorite and it’s iconic.

The 13E shoes that came were large for me yet doable for everything except possibly serious road warrior wear through airports, mass transit, etc. That is not a concern, these days with the shut down since May 2020.

Moreover, I don’t travel for business anymore, as that’s a young man’s job. The price was right, at $179, whereas the best deal to compare was $199 through an AE Factory Seconds promotion recently. One of the shoes had a pucker in the captoe but that doesn’t significantly detract from its appearance.

Anybody know how to revert the pucker?.

This is my second pair of strandmoks I purchased. First purchased the cognac color which I love but I’ve always wanted a pair of these darker brown series. I’ve always appreciated the build quality of Allen Edmonds and these shoes do not disappoint.

I have about a dozen pairs total and have never been disappointed. They’re not broken in yet as it does take a couple of weeks or so to really soften them up but so far I still love them. Can’t wait for them to really break in.

This is a fantastic shoe for an absolute bargain of the price. I needed a shoe quickly in Toronto and the eCommerce team with Stacy Adams was able to help me through personalized service notifying me when my purchase would arrive for my wedding.

The shoe is extremely comfortable, has a soft interior and is super flashy – perfect for a groom’s wedding reception. I can’t recommend Stacy Adams enough as I was extremely pleased with their service, price points, and quality of the shoe.

This is a good-looking shoe that fits to size and was delivered quickly. However, I ordered it because it was described as being “patent leather upper” and “leather lined. ” The latter is true, the former is not.

The tongue of the shoe makes clear that it is constructed of “manmade upper. ” The man at the call center didn’t really see my issue, but when prompted, offered a $5 discount on my next order if I referenced this order number.

Not much of a response to a false description. I would have returned the shoes if DSW had anything like it–in leather–available. They do not. So, I’m keeping the shoes and regretting my first and only bad experience with DSW.

Great dress just wipe off with cloth easy to maintain shine. Great value with the trusted name Stacy Adams. This is my first pair of Stacy Adam shoes to own. Very happy with purchase. I will highly these shoes to other who want a high quality comfortable shoe.

My next purchase definitely will be the Stacy Adams brand.

My grandson needed shoes and these did not slip and slide on the carpet. The shoes look good and a solid brand, J&M. The shoes fit him well and I purchased shoe trees to go with them. The shoes completed his wardrobe for a school event.

Great looking shoe and color is perfect. Good quality and looks great with jeans and dress paints. Unfortunately I had to return these shoes because fit was very narrow at the toe.

I purchased these right before a three day conference. It may have been a risk, but the first time I wore them, I was on my feet for about 16 hours…very comfortable and look great.

This is perhaps the perfect semi-dress shoe. Super comfortable. The only thing keeping this shoe from being rated 5-star is the course leather at the heel causes a blister to form at the apex of the heel.

To resolve this issue, I added some moleskin padding.

The edges of top foot insert these shoes dig into the sides of your feet, which is very uncomfortable when walking in them all day during business travel. Very uncomfortable for shoes made by a company that touts the best comfort.

I would not recommend them to anyone who expect to walk in them frequently (work travel & airports)!.

Our son will turn 25 next week and the only gift he asked us for was a new pair of Allen Edmond’s Carlyle Plain Toe Oxfords. Our son works with disabled children and adults at a nonprofit and while he spends much time in his office with HR responsibilities, he also interacts daily, sometimes hourly, with the clients.

These shoes are perfect because they allow him to be comfortable and secure while providing the appropriately classic style he needs both during his long work day and into the evening hours as well. When our son got his first job, he decided to invest in classic clothing rather than the here-today-gone-tomorrow “bargain” styles that some stores carry for his generation.

He put aside money for this purpose and one of his first purchases, a few years back, were these Allen Edmonds shoes. No surprise then that he is asking for them again (different color) for his birthday.

I purchased AE Carlyle directly from AE. The first pair had defective leather top, the same happened also for the replacement pair. Although the 2nd replacement (3rd pair) still had leather defects, I selected to keep it as the defects not so visible and I was tired of the repeated procedure of taking the shoes back to the store and waiting to pick up the replacement after several weeks.

As my 6-7 years old AE shoes are still in great shape, I have not put this new pair to use for several months. Last weekend I attended a party wearing my new pair of Carlyle. After walking in New York City for less than an hour (mainly across the central park twice), I found the tip of the sole had been worn down for about 10%.

Then I checked my 6-7 year old pair of AE shoes and the whole sole has not been worn down by 2% in any place. Ironically I tried to post this review at AE website on the webpage for this particular shoes.

However AE selected to ignore my review and did not post it. They just don’t like bad reviews of their products. Allen Edmonds was sold in 2006, then sold again in 2013. No wonder its quality has been in steady decline.

This shoe is grossly over priced and cheap looking. The look and feel of the shoe is very disappointing and reminds me of Bostonian. It is made of low quality leather and is just plain unremarkable. Never pay over a 125 bucks for a shoe with a rubber sole.

If a shoe has an all leather sole and is still extremely comfortable than it is well made. Any piece of junk with a rubber sole can be comfortable so don’t pay up. I have been hunting for a pair of black lace up oxfords for the last six months and it looks like I am going to have to look outside of Nordstrom because the selection just isn’t there.

Allen Edmonds needs to step up there game and Nordstrom has to expand there selection. There are plenty of high quality oxfords out there that fall between the prices of Dolce & Gabanna and Allen Edmonds that put both designers to shame.

Keep hunting.

Went to a wedding, wore them on the drive up (30 mins) and (30 mins back) as well as 3 hour wedding. The crease in the shoe from the driving and then wearing for a few hours shouldnt show so much wearing only after one night.

I also sprayed the water resistant spray from ECCO and it did not help light rain repel from the shoe. I expected a much better result from the shoe itself which even after reducing the shoe one size it still felt like too much room inside (requiring a much thicker sock).

I must note that when purchasing online, the inside cushioning of the shoe was much cheaper appearing and stuck out with blue lining. When i exchange for a smaller size the inside cushion appeared to be meant for the shoe, very slick and brown leather looking.

This is the 3rd time ive had this happen. It makes me not want to buy online and only in-store as it seems they are not such a mass produced replica of the exterior of the shoe with cheaper lining inside of it.

Overall after a few hours of wearing my feet did not hurt as my previous ECCO shoes did (i wore the inside cushion out) and outside of shoe was no longer flattering to wear but that was after several years (which is why i bought another pair of eccos!).

This shoe/boot is made very well. it also is light in weight to wear. almost like a heavier sneaker, rather than a boot. It is a much darker colour than what is shown online, but the colour fades in time, gradually, for an antique brown wash like a pair of jeans.

awesome, unique and very good looking. Good for both casual and more dressy events. Theses are my 3rd pair of Eco shoes. and I am very happy. this sounds like an advert. but it is not. I am just happy with them and Ecco.

My only criticism is the colour not being what is shown online, but I am still very happy with the darker brown, maybe even happier, even though I wanted lighter brown.

I love ECCO shoes but I keep having to return purchases due to inconsistent sizing. I ALWAYS wear size 11. 5 in the US. My first purchase was an ECCO Illinois Bike Toe Tie size 45 (equivalent to 11/11.

5 US on ECCO’s size guide). It was way too large, so I had to return it. I exchanged it for another Illinois size 44 (equivalent to 10/10. 5) and it fit nicely. So I thought to myself – ok, so the right ECCO size for me is 44.

Wrong. My next purchase was an ECCO Melbourne Bike Tie size 44 and it was way too small. One size too small. I will have to return it. By the way, the ECCO Melbourne Bike Tie is quite nice, as you would expect from an ECCO shoe.

Good for special occasions and formal work settings. Cushioning seems comfortable. I just wish the size had been consistent with my previous ECCO purchases.

These shoes are extremely comfortable, especially for men who must wear suits on the job and are on their feet all day. My son is a sports director for a very large station on the west coast. He covers all of the national teams and goes from one stadium to the next reporting sports news.

These are the only shoes he can wear comfortably without looking casual. They are a life saver. I also bought a pair for my husband as he has issues with past foot surgeries but loves to dress up when we go out.

These shoes work out perfectly for him. I highly recommend these shoes for all men who are required to dress up for their jobs and are on their feet all day. or. if you just want to go out and dance the night away comfortably!.

My 16 year old son has to dress nicely for school on football game days. He has never found dressy shoes that were comfortable to wear all day. Until now. These shoes are classically styled yet have enough flair for the younger man.

We have since purchased the camel colored pair because my son was so happy with the black pair.

Have bought many pairs over the years. Model mostly stayed the same with the exception of color choices and insoles-which have changed a bit. Wish they’d still come with removable insoles like previous years-thought they were better quality.

I purchased these shoes ( when not on sale ) on my desperate need for a dress shoe for a funeral I went to. I was more than pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they felt! They look great and after trying them on once.

I was sold. Looks are exceptional and the cushion inside them only wore out after a heavy use of 3 years. I go through shoes quite often and these have been one of the ones i will definitely purchase again.

I bought these because I need some stylish shoes for casual social occasions. I like them because they don’t look like something that would be worn in most professional offices, so the wearer looks more at ease, and can coordinate an outfit.

They have leather uppers and hard rubber soles, so they are not as comfortable as sneakers, but they demonstrate that the wearer has more style than the average guy wearing sneakers or more formal dress shoes.

I have a wide foot, and my size is about 11. 5, but 12 fit well, and there is a bout an inch of toe room.

I purchased these for my grandson. He is a three sport athlete that ONLY likes to wear sneakers and baseball shirts. When he opened the box his eyes lit up with joy! He could not wait to wear them to church.

They fit him perfectly and he loves that he has a pair of shoes like his dad! I scored a home run with this purchase!.

I hate dress shoes. I hate that I have to wear them to work. I do not hate these. I think I love them. Like all Clark’s, they are crazy comfortable. The padding inside is straight up luxurious but somehow sleek and thin and doesn’t make my feet hot.

The leather is beautiful and supportive but comfortable. The side slits with the elastic expansion should be a standard feature on all dress shoes, as it makes them immensely more comfortable and adaptable for different foot sizes.

My feet used to ache in a band right around that area from my shoes compressing me, regardless of the lace tightness, but with these slits that problem is annihilated. The tread is decently grippy, which can also be hard to find.

My feet are a bit wide so I went a half size down with these and got the WIDE style, which fits me perfectly width wise and has plenty of length room if not a bit too much. I also love that the toe is not as aggressively pointy as many other shoes; going the half size down definitely helps mitigate that.

Online thing took my order then cancelled it, citing stock levels. If you don’t have the stock, don’t advertise for sale. Had to buy something else in the local shop. This is men’s shoes. We tend to buy the same thing again and again.

Changing designs and retiring them is annoying. Make Tilden again please.

I am hoping there is a break-in period for these shoes. I had to purchase insoles just to raise my ankles enough to stop them from getting shredded by the stiff leather. The shoe is also very stiff at the transition between the toe cap and vamp and it’s uncomfortable to walk.

The shoe looks great but I’ve had to sacrifice comfort to wear them. I’ll give them a few more weeks to break in before I throw in the towel.

I literally can not walk more than 7 steps without my feet hurting. I got a size 10 that i wear size 10 in every brand every style of shoe and these ones are big so feet have room to rub and they have hard creases that hurt.

I could not walk at work without my fretting being in pain. Worn once and probably not again. Back to my Cole hahns and wolf and Sheppards. Those are the comfiest shoes on the market.

I was happy with the shoe out of the box, but unfortunately I could not keep them. When I tried to walk in them my foot came out of the shoe, even with them laced so tight the eyelets were almost touching.

All of my lace-up shoes are size 12, though I do have a few loafers in size 11. 5. If you are even slightly under a size 12 or have a narrow foot do not bother. I’m guessing these would have been average comfort, better than a true dress shoe.

These are high quality shoes! I had a bit of trepidation due to price and origin point, but I bit the bullet and ordered. Their site has an excellent shoe-sizing calculator that helps you get the right size.

They actually recommended a size larger than I normally wear, but I’m glad. My normal size (12 W) would have been too small. The 13s I ordered were just right. They were really tight and stiff at first, but loosened up considerably as I wore them for a day.

It took a long time to get them, but they send updates every couple of weeks and it was fun to see what step in the process they were at and who was working on them. Excellent communication and I can tell they are a company that cares about their customers.

I ordered 2 pairs of Yates Pxfords (Black and Tan). They are extremely high quality and the attention to detail is exemplary. I usually wear Allen Edmonds but found these shoes to be of the same quality and with wonderful packaging.

The regular updates about the artisans also put a human touch to the entire experience. I casually placed the order without high hopes but Beckett and Simon on surprised me with such a wonderful product.

Soft leather and more like a brown/burgundy. A bit different from the normal black shoe. The fit is good but my husband hasn’t actually worn them outside yet. The only criticism is that the shoes are slightly different with the colouring – one is lighter than the other but once worn a bit I don’t think it will really notice.

I know we could have returned them, but as they were reduced so much, my husband decided to just keep them.

I’ve been looking for a pair of black wholecuts for a while and finally pulled the trigger when I found the ones from 3DM. Was a little skeptical at first given the reasonable price, but these shoes punch above their weight in terms of quality.

Remains to be seen how much they crease over time, but the leather appears to be good quality. I usually wear a US 10 for dress shoes and these fit true to size. I got them for my friend’s black tie wedding and I can’t wait to show them off! Hope the groom isn’t jealous 🙂 Already got compliments wearing them at the office as well!.

I love the shoes. Very simple in style, but the side laces give it a unique look that is pretty cool! I like that the shoe is made out of a single piece of leather, which again adds to the simplicity of the shoe.

The shoe is very narrow, so the shoes fits very tightly especially around the sides of the foot near the ball of my foot. I wear a US size 9 and a European size 42. The shoe fits great in the heal and there’s plenty of room in the toe area, but very narrow around the sides as I mentioned.

The shoe is designed to be narrow so not sure if a size bigger would help. A bigger size might not fit in the heal area, but I wish I could compare a size bigger. The leather is very stiff and will take some time to break in.

I have to use a shoehorn to get the shoes on, but they are gradually getting softer and easier to put on. The sole is all leather, which is classic construction compared to rubber soles on my Eccos. I like this feature although they are a little slippery on tile.

The narrow styling gives the shoe a boot like appearance which I was looking for. I’ve gotten several compliments, but more importantly I like the way they look. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars only because they fit too snuggly based on the sizing.

I’ll buy again from this company. Next time in brown or maybe blue or maybe a combination.

I work in administrative manufacturing and these shoes are perfect for the gray suit I recently purchased! Great quality without sacrificing comfort. The feel is expensive and comfortable. This is my 5th pair of shoes from 3DM and definitely not my last.

I average about 11,000 steps per day and no complaints.

I bought the brown pair as a gift for my boyfriend and he says for the most part it’s comfortable. The only downfall is that it rubs against his heels so he has blisters from that, but it should get better as he breaks them in! They’re a bit narrow so consider sizing up if you have wide feet.
