20 Best Shocks For Toyota Tundra (2023 Updated)

I have a set of these installed on my Jeep Gladiator. I cannot say enough about the versatility these provide. When driving on the freeway, especially in high wind, setting to 3 stiffens the ride and keeps you from being blown sideways on the road.

Its also great when towing. In the city or for day to day driving I set the to 2. 2, as there are 8 micro settings for 2. We have some bumpy side roads and for me this setting works great for this scenario.

When offroad or when I’m going to be spending the day on dirt roads I will set them to 1. Having such versatility in a single set of shocks and by simply turning a dial is like having three different jeeps in one.

These 3. 3 Falcons are a perfect match along with the Outback springs if your JK is heavy with an Overland build up. Being able to adjust these really helps with the side sway squirly feeling in corners due to extra top weight.

A 2. 5 inch (3 inch) TF Outback spring lift will accommodate these shocks no problem with good articulation for the 4 door JK. Road handling improves considerably when set on 3 for a stiffer ride and much better cornering.

These are way better than the 9550 shocks for a heavy ride with lots of gear. If you want a little plusher ride, set them on a lower setting or even 1, which is more like a 9550 shock set. A good investment IMO, and easy instal.

I installed these shocks about 4 months ago and what an improvement. The Jeep rides much better on the road and on the highway. Its nice having the adjustment dial to change settings when on the trail.

The overall quality of the shocks are amazing and I won’t be going back to a factory style shock again. I would recommend these to anyone looking to improve their suspension.

07 tundra crewmax 2wd Installed easily and didn’t have to modify anything on my fabtech 6” lift. This replaced my stock shock setup with the 6” top spacers. The finish is awesome looking and everything is very beefy looking with just a hint of bling which is what I wanted.

I’ve only been driving on the “1” setting at all four corners and it definitely rides better than before. Controlled movement but a smoother ride. Very smooth and quiet over patchy roads and even over big table top road humps.

Three year warranty so I’m pretty confident they stand behind these and I don’t have to worry about these for a long time!.

Couldn’t be happier with this buy I also got the rear Vertex Shocks. This setup has change the hole ride of my truck so clean and smooth. Very easy install don’t waste your money people do it yourself.

I’m far from a mechanic but pretty handy and the product description stating “easy installation” tempted me to do it myself, so I went for it. First, I waited a long time for delivery. The communication about the back order status was good but frustrating.

The provided instructions had minimal detail and zero “tricks of the trade” for all the challenges I ran into. Fortunately I found a couple of YouTube videos that were helpful in addressing the challenges.

There were bolts missing in the kit. I checked the parts list against the kit contents to confirm everything was there before I started the installation and everything checked out but when it came to installing extensions for the brake line brackets, I ran out of bolts (three to be exact).

The truck looks great but the installation guidance for a novice installer seemed greatly inadequate. I hope you will improve your guidance for the next novice trying to do himself. I had the front end alignment completed today and am looking forward to seeing how the truck performs.

The whole purpose of buying a lift “kit” is so I don’t have to go collect all the parts individually. While this kit had all the major parts, it didn’t have all the hardware. Specifically, it was missing the bolts and locknuts for the rear brake line extender brackets.

Instead I got 2 locknuts that were too small for any bolt included in the kit. Additional feedback: the instructions are lame! This kit will be installed by a lot of DIYers, so why not make a complete set of instructions? Or a video? Also, it was extremely difficult to install the drivers side strut assembly.

I had to remove the steering linkage to lower the LCA sufficiently to pry the lower part in. Some better instructions and tips might have made this an easier install. Otherwise, its a good kit and I’m happy with the final result (after making a trip to the hardware store for missing bolts and nuts).

This is an excellent lift kit made with quality components. Zero complaints with fit and finish on any of the parts. I ran into one problem during the install, but it was operator error. I am leaving that information here in case anybody else experiences this issue.

When I lowered the lower control arms to put the struts in place, the axle shafts on both sides disengaged the splines approximately 1/4”. The misalignment of the splines prevented the steering knuckle from lining up with the new ball joint on the UCA.

Once I realized the issue and re-aligned the axle shaft splines everything went together easily. Again, not a problem with the kit or anything supplied by rough country. Following the install, the front end aligned easily and the shop said everything looked good and went well with no issues.

The ride quality of my truck has increased exponentially beyond where it was before. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a tundra that wants more than a leveling kit but doesn’t want to cut or drill anything.

4×4 ac 2001 tundra with TRD package. Replaced 4600 shock/strut. Called bilstein to make sure they worked. Top notch customer service! Summit fulfilled order quickly. Setting 3 to give 1. 05” of lift to the front using the oem spring.

Ride is a little stiff but manageable. Really brought out the squeak in the dash that Tundra’s are known for. Rake is gone, level stance that looks good. Spring compressor scared me because “death” is real.

Only thing I would do differently is get a Dobinsons spring for a sequoia, set shock on position 1, and allow the spring to lift the front. Seems like a better way to get rid of the rake and have a softer ride.

My ordering process went smoothly. Communication with the company went well. I ordered one part too many and the company recognized it. They did not send the unneeded part and issued me a refund once Contacted them.

I have a 04 Crew Cab Tundra 4. 7L. I do all pavement pounding no off-roading. The 5100 struts in front are set at 1. 06” and I also did a 1” lift block with the rear 5100s. The truck ride nicely. A little stiffer but it takes bumps and potholes so much better than before.

The ride is smooth and the handling seems better. The stance of the vehicle is improved and looks very nice. I currently run 17” TRD Rock Warrior wheel with KO2 size 265. 75. R17 this is a stock wheel size set up.

My current set up weights pretty much what a stock set up weights so it does not put extra stress on the struts and shocks. I am very happy with this kit. If you are a pavement pounder his kit is good.

I cannot speak to offroad handling. I believe these are a good investment in the ride quality of a first generation Tundra.

Really impressed with the quality of the shocks in my 05 double cab tundra! The ride is so nice! Also the fact that its a leveling shock is a 2 for 1 deal! Used the #3 ring clamp to level out my front with the stock back.

Installation was pretty easy. just look at the condition of your end link bushings while your there. I had to get new bushings and end links. Shipping was fast and great! My truck looks and feels great!.

I had one issue installing these in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. The rubber built-in washers on the bottom did not quite fit between the lower bracket on the truck rear axle. I tried bending out the bracket with pliers and worked harder than I should have trying to kick the shocks to squeeze them into the bracket and line them up.

In the end, I shaved off some of the rubber with a serrated knife. After that they were still tight in the bracket but it was possible to line them up with the hole and get the bolt in. The ride quality on these is fantastic.

My truck had about 200,000 miles with the original shocks to obviously anything new would be an improvement. These shocks are much “softer” than stock. My truck also had the recall to add another leaf to the back, so the rear springs are quite stiff.

These shocks make for a good combo. I think these are likely the best non-lifted shocks you can get for a Tacoma.

I got these to replace the OEM’s on my 2018 JK Willy’s Wheeler 2 door. Quality of shocks is excellent. Installation was no problem- I’ve never replaced rear shocks on anything, and from getting out the tools to putting them away, total job was about 45 minutes.

No special tools needed; just a socket set and some blue thread lock- that’s IT. Ride is a bit stiffer than the OEM’s were, but that is fine with me. Overall, I recommend these rear shocks.

No Complaints about fit, price or quality. The only issue that I had with this order was with one of the front shocks, when it had arrived the washers, bushings and nut was not in the package. I went ahead and ordered the parts kit from Summit Racing for about $14.

Box was open missing the bushes, store people replaced them with similar ones but when got installed bushes didn’t fit so I ended up using the old ones again

These shocks mounted but were about 3″ shorter than the OEM. 2016 tundra limited 4×4 rear shocks. I’m going to ride them and see but if the ride is affected I will return them.

Happy with improved ride, truck has 200k miles and drives like new again

I’ve been riding on these for a few thousand miles now and I have been enjoying them. If you’re looking to soften up the ride a little bit and you’re not an extreme off roader like me, I would take a look at these.

There are 9 settings. The 9th setting is the stiffest and will feel very close to stock ride firmness. (slightly softer) I wouldn’t really recommend going too low on the settings because it starts to feel very washy.

I like to set mine at 5-9. Im currently at a 7 and it provides a nice ride. I would say if you are a big off roader, you will probably want to spring for a pricier high quality set up, but for my needs these work great.

I’m on the road 95%-99% of the time.

This quick lift is perfect for those that aren’t looking for anything super aggressive but want to install a larger wheel and tire combination and improve the off road ride and capabilities. The on road performance is very good as well, particularly if you like a bit firmer ride and less body roll while cornering.

The install takes about 3 to 4 hours and the alignment has to be corrected after of course. The only issue that I had and it seems from other reviews this is very common, the packaging on the front strut assemblies is inadequate and tears open easily, so somewhere along the way during shipping the mounting hardware for one side was lost.

So make sure you check for the hardware before you start the install or you may find yourself heading to the hardware store right in the middle of the install. Overall I am very happy with the the Rancho Quick lift struts and shock setup.

The Good: I do love the way the shocks respond to the bumpy roads as it is much smoother ride in my tundra, a lot better than the ones installed by manufacturer. The Bad: I bought these exact same shocks for my tundra about 3 years ago.

I noticed that the back right one was missing the metal around the shock absorber. I have no idea what happened or when it happened. Poorly made or cheap metal. I recently purchased another same exact pair and hopefully this will not happen again.

Will update with review if it does. This is why it only gets 3 stars.

Outstanding quality, fair price. Bilsteins installation hardware does not match the OEM stuff I removed. Took a few minutes to figure it out but it went in perfectly. Tightening top nut is always a challenge.

…. wish design engineers would figure out an easier way to tighten this nut in a very confined space!.

Put these on a 04 Toyota tundra. Ride seems improved, old shocks were shot. Plan on adding Bilstein struts to the front as well. Removing old shocks was a pain, but installing new ones was easy.

These adjustable shocks are exactly as advertised. I installed these on a 2018 RAM 1500 Laramie. The installation was breeze. I reused the stock strut coil. The truck is now perfectly level and the ride improvement is quite noticeable.

Much of the stock body roll is gone. The firmness really improved steering ease. I never expected to be this pleased with a shock upgrade but would very highly recommend this one. Now onto the rear.

This is a well built, high quality shock that will give your truck a great ride on and off road. These shock replaced the stock shocks, at 100K miles, so any new shock would have been an improvement.

But the Eibach Pro Truck Sport shocks took the handling to a whole new level. On the street you feel connected to the road, without being overly harsh. Off road (fire roads mostly) the bumps are soaked up and bounce is minimal.

They are leveling kit compatible up to 2″ lift (my next project) and come with an awesome warranty too.

These do not fit a 1960-1962 Chevy C-10 with rear coil spring suspension. They are about 8 inches too short. I spoke with Eibach and they have in their computer that the shocks will work on a 1960-1970.

60-62 uses a longer shock. 1963 and up switched to a leaf spring rear and shorter shock.

I purchased Bilstein shocks for my wife’s 2009 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. My wife stated the Jeep didn’t feel right going into curves and road rough. So I ordered a complete set of Bilstein shocks. The ride and handling are more superior than a new jeep.

I will say this ,Since they are a superior shock they can be a little tough to compress. It was well worth the hassle. Now to the customer service part. Absolutely wonderful people. They go above and beyond to make things right.

I like the product, but I am totally dissatisfied with the ability to contact anyone who is willing to help the costumer. Extremely poor service from everyone !! I needed a shock that would also lift my vehicle and there was no one willing to take the time and do the math to make my system work.

I guess it’s just too much math for this new age of brainless people. Just saying. Too lazy to actually use their brains to solve problems. If you are a sales person and you don’t have a clue to what you are selling and how it works and being able to resolve issues, then please get a job folding napkins !!.

The shocks are great but their application into a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is a bit tricky. There is not enough room above the shock to hold the shaft with an Allen key while tightening the top lock nut.

I had to grind an Allen wrench down to provide enough clearance on the driver’s side. On the passenger’s side, I needed to pry out some of the inner fender ribbing to get enough clearance, even with the modified wrench.

The OEM Rubicon shocks had a nut like hex below the bushings so that you could grab the shaft from below to tighten the nut. The provided bushings were too thick to engage the top nut, so I ended up using the original bushings.

I was about to rate this 4 stars, but reliving the install while writing this annoyed me enough to subtract another star. But, the ride is great and worth the pain.

Lowered my 2000 Chevy S10 Xtreme an additional 2/3 on top of the factory ZQ8 suspension. I used these shocks because I had used them before with good results. They’re better (but stiffer and less spongy) than the Nitro Drop shocks.

They bolted up fine. Only thing worth noting is, on the front shocks you can’t use the top piece. But that’s no problem. No other shocks you’d buy for this truck would come with them anyway. Overall, I’d recommend.

Belltech products have a solid reputation so I decided to go with their shocks when refreshing my 2000 S10 Xtreme. I had to remove the metal dust boots and actually cut the mounting tabs in order to install the front shocks properly.

This didn’t effect the performance of the product but it was a hassle and a little disappointing. The rear shocks were also a PIA to install because of the metal dust boot but I was able to avoid removing them.

It would be nice if Belltech offered a rubber dust boot for vehicles with these fitment challenges. Performance wise the shocks perform well and I’m happy with them. They have a “plush” yet responsive ride but do not handle super rough roads very well.

This is to be expected, they are STREET performance shocks not off road units. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.

Overall the shocks have a nice ride. Not too stiff or bouncy. I would probably go with a stronger shock next time because that’s what I was looking for besides affordable but still overall a good product would recommend only gave quality a 3 just because the vehicle I put them on is not a daily driver and idk what they would act like with daily wear and tear.

Fit and finish on the shocks is great. Still haven’t gone off-road with them but looking forward to tuning them in when I do. Note on install. the paint on the shock makes the top bolt very hard to thread, so do a trial run before you install.

Also, the shock boot is designed to cover the rod after the shock is extended. For that reason, it is easier to extend the shock, put on the boot, and then install the shock. Usually I install the compressed shock and then let it extend to install the other side.

With these two things considered, should be an easy install.

I have just over 1000 miles with a 3. 0 Diesel. I think Jeep must use the same shocks on all 4 of their engines yet the engine/trans weights are substantially different. My Jeep would hit the stops just going over the neighborhood speed bumps.

Problem solved: The Rancho RS9000XL adjustables have given me an excellent ride that was not experienced until the new shocks were installed. I installed all 4 corners, love them and highly recommend a swap.

After researching and researching the best shocks for my TJ I decided to go with the rancho 9000 series. Long story short I was not disappointed. These puppies ride smoothly and look fantastic. I don’t care for the red accents but love the shiny metallic.

I have a 4-inch lift and ordered the 5-8 inch lift shocks based on extended and compressed height. Will be ordered the rest of the suspension parts from Rancho soon.

I bought a front & rear set for my JK that still had the factory shocks at 100k miles. Difference was night & day. My brother liked them so much, he bought front & rears for his JKU. I really like that the bushings & sleeves came pre-installed.

That saved some time during the install.

These shock absorbers are amazing. When I ordered them I did not realize the rubber boots are on the bottoms of the shocks. I realized the boots were on the bottom when I opened the first box. These shock absorbers provide an amazing ride, the steering was stiffened up as well.

The fit and finish of the shock absorbers was excellent. This will be my go to shock in the future.

Right out of the box it was evident that these shocks were high quality. Very solidly build and great looking. Installed a set on my Rubicon. The ride is excellent, much like the stock shocks but better handling and more compliant.

I have an 05 F150 ext cab 4×4. Rear shocks. Not sure how these shocks have such great reviews which is what led me to buy them but they were not a pleasant experience for this truck being a daily driver and for being in the hot shot/hauling business.

They were noisy over normal bumps and would have a real jarring effect riding over them. Not to mention prior to installing you have to assemble the rubber inserts where the bolts go through…kinda weird and annoying.

Only had these on for 2 months. My new rear KYB Gas A Just could not arrive fast enough. Now with the new KYBs the ride is FAR smoother!!!.

I have Hydro7000s on the front and the back, stock height. I like them. Feel good and the JK was ready for new shocks after 10 years as the factory shocks were rotted to death. When you get these shocks, there are no instructions.

The bushings are urethane and thats an advantage over rubber in my opinion and its absolutely critical when you try and install the top bar mount. There is one way to do this and not waste hours. Install the top bushing.

Rub a little lubricant inside. Grab a 2×8 scrap and a long phillips screwdriver. Take the u-end of the top T bar and position it inside the top bushing. It wont tear because its urethane. Slip the screw driver shaft through the closed end.

Prop the shock on the 2×8 and push the shaft through the bushing. If you cant get leverage move the shock to the floor and push. Push hard and it will pop in. Dont waste your time trying to slide the bar and bushing in at the same time.

Of course it would be much easier if Skyjacker installed the top bushing and bar. What a minute and a 1/2 at the factory.

I have a 1975 Chevy K 10 with single front shocks. Apparently the summit listing isn’t very clear and I was given these shocks for the rear. I called Summit and after some digging we found the right shocks for my application.

If you have this truck the skyjacker shocks you need are M8043. Summit was very understanding and the return process was easy and the shocks came within five days I have no hard feelings. The correct shocks worked great and easy to install no extra parts or hardware.

I definitely feel less sway than I did with my Bilstein shocks. Installation was a little tricky because of the larger/longer top mount, especially on the passenger side. I used the original factory bushings as they offered a better fit.

Overall, I needed about an hour and a half to install the pair.

Expensive but well worth the extra money you pay for a Bilstein Shock. I’ve had these shocks on other trucks I’ve owned. The truck I put them on this time is new but there is no other shock like a Bilstein on the market that I’ve found.

You should notice the difference in the ride and handling immediately. Highly recommended!.

Shocks are great, the only thing I didn’t like was that bushings were not included with the shocks so now I’m having trouble finding them. I spoke with a summit salesman,,, he said that I needed to give him the dimensions of the bushings.

Like if I had them off. You know that when someone replace the shocks you have to have the bushings ready to put on. They think it’s easy to take them off and on again?.

I just replaced manufacturer kyb shocks on my 2015 Tundra @ 60K miles. Shocks are designed to last lot more miles than that. Both my rear shocks were blown without even taking much of payload and off road driving on my truck for some reason.

I read about Bielstein shocks and wanted to try. The initial feel of this product from the beginning is great. Ride is lot smoother and truck bed has been lifted few inches up.

I wanted to get some miles in before submitting my review. I’ve put in approximately 500 miles on the truck since install 1. Quality of parts and hardware – Everything arrived in separate boxes. all items arrived sealed with no damage.

The construction looks good, black powder coat finish is nice. I would have liked to see better solution for the ABS cables on the front spindles, maybe a new bracket to support the upper half of the cable? I would have also appreciated it if the silver pieces for all the bracket relocation parts would have been powder coated as.

The front washers for alignment have round shims that really should be cut on each corner to accommodate the angles of the alignment guides. Being rounded, this forces the shim to sit on top of the guide.

NO of Skid plate!! There is a plate between front and rear cross member. You now lose the protection for the oil filter. There is now one available to purchase separately online but it would have been nice had it been included.

Bump Stop extensions are an eyesore. Need to come up with a better design as they look nasty. Just 4 ugly looking rectangular towers hanging down. All that said, I’m pretty happy with the quality of the parts – minus my wish list items.

2. Ride Quality – I opted for the regular coil overs with N3 shocks. It’s bumpier than stock. I didn’t want to fork out the extra 1000 to get the Vertex so that’s on me. Ride is stiff but feels okay and it just takes some getting used to.

If you want to maintain the super smooth ride these trucks come with from the factory, spend the extra money and go with the Vertex setup. BE ADVISED!! YOUR TURNING RADIUS is going to be affected. Turns you could previously negotiate in tight spaces are now a thing of the past.

You’re going to have to adapt to the 2x 3 point fwd/reverse routine in tight spaces – bummer. Shudder – I ordered and installed the carrier bearing drop, used all 3 shims on each side, I still have the shudder upon takeoff from a dead start.

I hope RC can fabricate a nice drop bracket to address the new pinion angle. I feel that another 3/4″ might be the ticket. the N3’s look cool in the rear, just wish they had boots to cover the shaft.

Overall, I am satisfied with how it came out. Lastly, make sure you have some good steps cause she’s riding high! cheers!.

Was concerned that the ride quality would drastically change. and it got soooo much better. I had already done a set of leveling coilovers and was not happy with the ride afterwards. I also own a Tacoma with the RC 6 inch that has 150k miles on the lift with no issues.

I was going to spend more on the Tundra lift this time around but honestly couldn’t excuse the added expense. I could have spent more on other brands for the basic kits they offer. so glad to have saved $$ I would absolutely recommend this set up to any Tundra owner.

I have the lifted struts and the v2 upgraded shocks for the rear on 18″ wheels and 37″ nitto ridge grapplers. I previously had a spacer lift kit 3/2 (front/rear) with 20″ wheels and 33″ tires. This new set up is night/day different.

It rides very, very well. Much better than previous set up and better than stock. I know that is hard to understand but this really is a great kit. I would recommend this kit to any friend who’s looking for a nice upgrade to his/her tundra.
