20 Best Shin Guards For Kids (2023 Updated)

Bought these for my 6 yr. old son and it lasted him the entire season. They are durable and easy to clean! My son has gotten other brands and he always complained about how uncomfortable they were so I was surprised that he loved these shinguards.

I ordered these shin guards for kids and followed their sizing chart. When I received them they were the size of adult shin guards! I returned them and had to pay the shipping fees.

For Soccer. purchased from my child 7 yr old, medium size. Great quality, I also ordered in the blue and yellow for my 8 yr old, same size. Soo much better than just your regular shin guards they stay in place and kids can concentrate on the game.

Really good fit, they stay in place, great product. It took a while to get the right size. With the first pair, the elastic was very tight and I found I had the wrong size, I changed them with no problem and found the second pair fit perfectly.

It would be a lot easier if there was an age guide on the pack to make it easier to gauge the most suitable fit the first time, as there was a big variety of sizes in store.

I was so excited to get these for my son. But getting them on and off is an absolute nightmare, with lots of swearing (on my part) and crying (on his part) involved. The sleeve has way too little stretch/give, and getting them over his heel is nearly impossible.

I understand that you don’t want a lot of stretch under the plastic part of the guard, but the back half of the sleeve could be made with a stretchier fabric. The side seams would be a minor inconvenience by comparison.

With all the tugging, the top seam has already come undone (after just 3 uses), exposing the elastic band. I don’t think these will hold up at all over time. Very frustrating given the cost.

I see many players with slides, my son included. These days it is the norm to not have that protection from top to bottom. It was the old school uncomfortable and bulky way before slides were used. The G-Form is a whole other dimension in shin guards and safety.

My player loves this. The sleeve is lightweight and breathable and the pad is state of the art. It stays in place and there is no rubbing. For the price, there are name brand slides just below the cost of this one with half the protection, so why chance it.

Great product! This is the first of many G-Form products to protect my player.

I bought these a few weeks ago. It’s a great item but does not have ankle protection so I returned them. They were for a young child so they didn’t work out for us. But I could see how they would be a great product for an older athlete.

I didn’t know these were adult shin guards and I actually like these better for my kids to use. The “kids” shin guards with the slip in ankle support is a pain to get on and off for the kids and I feel that they aren’t comfortable wearing those.

I decided to go with these Nike Mercurial lite shin guards for my 8 and 10 year old kids. My 8 year old used them this last season and he loved them and I just got these for my 10 year old. My kids say it’s much more comfortable and lighter while playing soccer.

Although they lose the ankle protection from the “kids” shin guards, my kids understand and are now jumping over kicks and made them a great defensive player! Give them a try! I only wished they were designed specially for kids and if they were a lot taller, to protect the whole portion of the leg, instead of the middle portion only.

These look cool and work week but have a major design flaw. Moisture (water out sweat) gets into the holes so unless you have time to wash and dry with a hair dryer after each game, you will likely end up with a moldy and gross smelling shin guards.

It’s a shame bc they look really cool but I’m shocked the design flaw wasn’t something Nike QC picked up. I can’t imagine the 4/5 start reviews here are from actually players using them from game to game.

Overall, these are comfortable to wear is wet and dry conditions. The sleeve plus oversock has kept them in place well enough. Given, I’m a keeper and don’t do lots of field sprinting and slide tackles that would change that.

Great value for good protection and quality. My 3 boys and I all use these. With 4 riders I’m always looking for the best bang for the buck for our MX bikes, parts and gear. I don’t skimp on protective gear and with these I don’t have to.

We’re woods riders and crash all the time. These have always provided protection and kept us going. These have held up for years too so definitely money well spent.

I bought these 3 years back now when I got my first bike. They have worked really well for me, just upgrading to actual knee braces this year. I ride with a couple other guys that use this same guard and they think they work well for them too.

While they do offer really good protection, a couple times when I fell the upper part got pushed to the side a bit and I still took a pretty good hit, but not having a upper strap is what makes them so comfortable.

I would definitely buy them again. I have not had any trouble with the straps like some one else mentioned, but I dont leave them in my truck or out in the sun to degrade the elastic either. -m-2015 HUSQVARNA TE 300–.

These were great when I bought them. And in terms of impact resistance, they are probably still as good as when I bought them a season or two ago. The problem is that the elastic and velcro straps that hold them on lose their elasticity after a little use.

Then, you can no longer get the straps tight enough and still get the velcro to mate. This is the same for matching elbow pads. Now the knee pads slide down into my boots and leave my knees exposed. These things need a better strapping system.

These are molded to fit around over the front of the shin, but are molded at an extreme angle, and very narrowly. They did not sit flush with my kids’ shins, and instead stuck out an inch or two because it was so narrow it did not mold around the shin as it should.

My oldest has very skinny legs, so it’s not like my kids just have unusually large calves. I don’t see how these would fit properly over any child’s shins. Sizing up makes them slightly wider, but not enough, and then they end up being too long and hitting too close to their knee.

Returned right away, do not recommend.

This is the only brand that my daughter has not complained about wearing. This is her 3rd year playing travel, she plays soccer all year round so her equipment gets tons of wear and tear. These hold up very well and fit her perfectly.

I had to make sure I bought the next size up so that we are ready when she outgrows the set she has. Great price, quality and fit!.

This was the 2nd pair I purchased for my 11 year old for soccer this year. Adidas brand was first purchase and they absolutely were squishing his ankles. They seemed to be made incorrectly. Returned them to Dick’s with no problem and purchased these instead.

My expectations were kind of low since they were only $10. My son tried them on and said “perfect!” I was thrilled! Won’t hesitate to buy this DSG brand again.

I’m 5’ 8” tall and thinking these might be on the short side, I purchased a large (adidas says these should fit 5’10” to 6’1”). I’m sure the protection on these are great, but to say these are short is an understatement.

For reference, I purchased the youth medium for my son and the adult large is less than an inch longer. I have relatively bad ankles so I lean toward pads with ankle discs, and the ankle piece on these are really good.

Usually those pads with ankle pieces you expect to be full coverage pads, and being a defender I prefer my pads to reach from where my shin starts to just under my sock top. These need another 2 inches to do so.

I know the sizing is from adidas suggestion, but it would be nice to somehow know how long the actual pad is.

Quality is good, but the under foot strap is really short, so in order for his shoes to be comfortable, we had to pull up really tight and then the strap was so uncomfortable he was yelling for us to take it off.

Was just not a good fit. Strap needs to be longer. He just turned 5 and is not tall for his age, so a small is the proper size according to description.

They are OK. They do the job but there is not enough room to adjust the elastic. Not sure if they are meant to go around the shoe (which works fine that way) but def. Not to be used under sock. You won’t be able to put shoe on.

These shin guards are great for kids. We have had so many different kinds, but I love these because the kids can put them on themselves- and they are easy to do. When wearing soccer socks, my kids were able to put them on the correct legs because it was easy to see which one is for each foot (one side is higher).

The socks could fold over the shine guards and I was so happy that I did not have to worry that they would be sliding around because of the strap that wraps around the top, as well as the part that goes on the foot and goes over the arch and is perfectly stretchy yet stable.

In fact, my kids were playing some version of soccer, and the one wearing these shin guards told me that it didn’t even hurt when the ball went straight to his shin because his shin was truly protected.

These shin guards are basic shaken guards that are soft and do not hurt when applied directly to the skin. They did not cause chafing of any kind, are lightweight, easy for kids to apply by themselves, and definitely effective for protection of the shins when the ball comes.

We’ve bought these and the umbro brand shin guards for soccer this season. These are a little wider than umbro, but also shorter. We bought our 8 and 10 year old girls the youth size and probably should’ve gone with the adult.

My 5 year old that wears a peewee size in umbro, wears the youth in these. Great shin guards. The kids say they’re comfortable and they do the job! The sizing just isn’t consistent with other brands.

My son is normally a M- and these were a little too hard to get on. They will fit my younger son much better. They are made really well, and will keep him safe in the field. Love the fun touch of color on them as well.

Make sure to put these on first and the. Socks over, otherwise you most likely will have to fix it before they are allowed on the field.

These are really basic shin guards, which is fine if your kid is just getting into soccer and you’re not sure if they’ll stick with it. They are small, though. The size chart recommended Medium for my kids, but the Large fit much better and still looks small on them.

Both the plastic guard and the calf strap are small, and I secure it as loosely as possible. Looking at the size of the plastic guard itself, this guard’s Large size is the same size as Vizari Malaga’s Small.

My son is about to turn 2 and is tall for his age. The bottom ankle piece was nicely padded, however slightly big (but we could make it work), however the hard shin guard piece was not wide enough for his shin, especially at the top, and the strap around the top was not long enough to fasten without digging into his leg.

If the top strap had been a little longer, these would have worked decently for this season’s use. Besides the unfortunate fit, otherwise a well made product.

Note that these shin guards have the Velcro come together on the outside of the guard, not against the skin, like many do. This is really nice because the other shinguards we had would scratch our child if not placed exactly perfectly together.

So I definitely recommend these over other shinguards due to that reason. I bought two sizes, and the youth medium ended up fitting our five-year-old the best, but the ankle was a bit loose. It was the strap around the back that was really tight in the smaller, but she could have done the smaller if she had to.

She’s a very strong, 85th percentile five-year-old, if that helps.

Too small. Doesn’t cover enough shin. Bad quality won’t protect your kid from a kick in soccer. Doesn’t worth it.

Within one use the padding started to break off. The quality was simply terrible. I had to buy another pair. Would not recommend.

These are good enough for 4-5 year old soccer. The material is not high quality. But, as cheap as they are, they certainly serve the purpose for my 4 year old.

I bought these for my son who is small and we have been using another brand that were not near as contoured or fit near as well nor were they as good quality. Very happy and impressed with both guards and gloves.

He uses them for both MMA and Karatedo. Got them just in time for his last tourney and they were a huge hit. He took 2nd.

been using these shinpads since the 90’s. Best shinpads on the market, they do not move around and stay snug. I am a trainer at Erik Paulson’s gym here in California and I highly recommend these shinguards.

The kids loves them. Kids love the fact that all the gear matches, including the shin pads.

I bought these for my nephew a month ago and they work perfectly. They protect his shin well and it’s comfortable and has great padding and doesn’t scratch his leg.

I read the other reviews, which said that these were smaller than would be expected given that they were labeled as being for adults. My nine-year-old is five feet tall, so a small adult size sounded about right.

They fit and he wears them, which is all I wanted. He did note that you have to be very careful about how you fasten the Velcro, or they will irritate the leg. It would have been better if the Velcro had been installed the other way around, so that the prickly part faced away from the leg, but if you get it lined up right it’s fine.

I bought these for a soccer camp they did not breathe at all and I could feel every blow from the ball and other players feet.They work for youth but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone over 12.

Velcro enclosure is super easy for little ones just getting used to the equipment. Lightweight enough to keep them mobile, yet protected. I bought 6 pairs for my league and I will be buying more if we need to replace any.

I looked far and wide for youth shin guards for months and jumped all over this deal when I saw it. These will fit most 5-9 year olds of average height.

Bought these to help a friend get better mechanics and velo pitching. I’m a center fielder at heart and am in no way a catcher but these are very comfortable. Haven’t caught since little league but find nothing to complain about with these.

Bought these for my 12 yr. old who outgrew his youth equipment and is ready for “intermediate” equip. I knew they would be a little too big but I thought the advertised adjustability would do. Unfortunately, the only thing movable on these leg guards is the knee pad.

The video showing the adjustable shin pad and the mention of a detachable/adjustable toe cap isn’t correct. Maybe we received a prior year model, but the toe cap is sewn on and has no adjustability. and it is very long.

Other manufacturers 15. 5″ models fit him fine but these are too bulky for him right now. The long toe cap and upper thigh guard need to be removable for these intermediate ages. These pads are also advertised as “intermediate” but labeled ” Adult 15.

5″ “. I am not sure if that’s part of the problem. Nice leg guards but a little too large for kids transitioning from youth equipment.

I love how light these iXS knee guards are. They are lighter and more breathable than all the soft pads out there & you can put them on with your shoes on! The real plastic slides across the ground when you crash instead of sticking like soft pads also.

My last set lasted for many years and I am just getting a new set.

Pros: Light weight Protected me on several crashes so far Cons: Straps stretch easily and become very loose. I had to improvise to keep it snug. I wish that instead of elastics there was a long strap that can be trimmed to fit.

Especially the strap above the calf and below the knee, no need for expansion there while riding, only the one above the knee should be flexible. Shin guard plates should be longer. I have the medium, but as far as I understand, the size only changes the strap length (I could be wrong, but was not able to get an answer).

These are tiny. They cover maybe a third of your shin. I got the medium size. They sit nicely on your leg and are comfortable, but don’t stay up very well. The elastic that comes with them is also too big if you have thin legs.

Overall, the are useless at the one thing they are supposed to do – protect your shins.

These are sold as adults shin pads, don’t be deceived. They are very much for children. I bought a size S and they are the equivalent of a custard cream or a Nokia Brick. I would have sent back but they were £8, and I just couldn’t be bothered.

But yeah, don’t buy these unless you’re buying for a child. Mike Ashley strikes again. The sizing guide on the actual shin pad says the recommended size of the wearer is 140cm, in layman’s terms, thats 4”7.

So unless you’re a child, don’t buy them.

This product is far too small despite using the Nike measuring tool that said I should order a small ladies. These are only big enough for a child. As the return cost is not going to be worth it then you end up with a useless piece of kit.

Reading other comments had me a bit confused if we were using the same shin guards. Any shin guard can be a breading ground for bacteria and mold. My daughter says that these breathe and stay in place well.

I throw them into the washing machine with laundry and they have held up for one full year.

This is a quality product- and is the 2nd pair we have purchased – just next size up for our growing soccer player.

Looks like the shin guards are no longer removable. I first bough a pair of white socks for my son. Really awesome product. Slipping in the shin guards or taking them out was so easy. Ordered a pair of black ones earlier this week.

Same greqat quality except it appears the shin guards are not removable any more. This makes wearing the socks quite difficult.

These are just so great for the player and MOM lol My daughter no longer complains of the Velcro being too tight or itchy! I ordered a S/M and they fit great. Her legs are pretty slim, if you’re child’s legs a bit bigger i would size up.

Very easy on/easy off. Bought the pink and white, definitely will be buying the black. For Toddlers only not children over the age 6.

I bought a pair for my son 3 years ago. They are easy to slip on and off, and during his game, there is no messing with shin guards. We had to buy a bigger size and chose to go with the G force shin guards.

My son absolutely loves the shin guards EXCEPT for when it comes time to take them off. Then it hurts him and I’m trying to help pull them off etc. it seems impossible to get them over his heel.

They are a little hard to get on and peel off but once on my son loves them. More comfortable and stay better than “traditional” shin guards

My daughter needed new shin pads and we didn’t have the next size up for her. We found these on sale and she liked how they fit her. She has used them on the ice and is very happy with the way they strap and stay tight to her legs.

Bought for my 6 year old who is 49 inches tall. They are slightly big but they fit and will last a while. seem like great quality and the fit is nice. no issues and my son says they’re comfortable.
