I was so excited to try this product after all the amazing reviews about it. I have been using the shampoo and conditioner for the last 2. 5 months and unfortunately cannot say I love it. My scalp usually gets mild flakes with seasonal changes that last a couple of weeks and I would add in head and shoulders at that point.

Decided to try this product and my scalp has never peeled and been so full of dandruff ever! My scalp was peeling off in massive chunks to the point where it looked like I had a sunburn over and over again.

It was the entire top of my head that would completely flake off. I only use the shampoo on the top of my head but even with using the conditioner, my ends have seemed to become dryer and brittle looking even though I don’t use any heat products or styling products in my hair.

I’ve noticed some people have said this product helped with hair loss. I naturally lose quite a bit of hair in the shower but haven’t noticed an improvement in that. Absolutely love the smell and feeling of the product on my scalp but just very sad it didn’t work for me.

Side note: I tried to publish my review on their website directly and they refused to publish it, not sure why.

I originally bought this product after seeing multiple people recommend it on YouTube. Seeing these people posing with their long, gorgeous hair next to this shampoo made it very easy for me to take the leap and spend around $15 on this shampoo.

I was also looking for a clarifying shampoo that I could use once a week to remove build up from my hair, so this seemed perfect. I read many reviews where people claimed this product made their hair fall out, but didn’t believe these reviews because I thought there must have been other issues (perhaps health related) that caused hair loss? Well, after two months of using this soap, I definitely noticed an increased amount of my hair falling out.

It wasn’t anything drastic, but enough to make me realize that there was definitely something going on, which is why I decided to switch to the WOW apple cider vinegar shampoo (it has been a month of using this shampoo and I do not notice as much hair falling out as I did with the tea tree shampoo).

I did love how the tea tree shampoo made my scalp feel, because the tingling sensation made me feel like my scalp was being detoxed and cleaned. The scent of the shampoo was also very lovely and fresh, but the amount of hair I lost while using this soap was all I needed to put it down forever.

I bought the travel size of this shampoo to test out how it would do on my hair before I splurged on the big bottle. I was also a bit wary of the reviews that claimed it caused hair loss. I have wavy and thick hair with low porosity.

I have a very dry, itchy, flakey scalp as well. I read that tea tree oil could help soothe your scalp, so I thought I would try it. I washed my hair as directed. Used about 3 dime sizes for my whole head and massaged it into my scalp.

It lathers alright. Not much suds. That made me think that it wasn’t cleaning my hair enough so I was tempted to put more shampoo on my head but I did not. The smell is very strong, but it does not linger in your hair post-wash.

Usually, my head begins to itch after I wash my hair, but with this shampoo, there was no itch! So I was pleasantly surprised by that. I finished off my hair with the tea tree special conditioner. After I finished showering and dried my hair with a microfiber towel, I noticed no residue on my hair and it felt very clean! I couldn’t see any flakes and my scalp wasn’t itchy! Just from this, I am very impressed with this shampoo.

To address the hair loss comments, I did not notice any significant hair loss when I used the shampoo. I am the type to shed a lot of hair as it is since I have thick hair. I also wash my hair about once a week, so I tend to lose a bit of hair because of that because stray hairs build up over that time.

So this might not be good for someone who has thin hair or shampoos frequently. But for me, it works great. Hair loss was about the same or slightly less than usual. I washed my hair about 5 days ago and my hair is a lot less flakey and itchy.

It still feels relatively clean with some oil started to build up on my hair. By this time, my hair is usually an oily, flakey mess, but it is not now because of this shampoo! Will definitely splurge for the large bottle!.

I absolutely love & enjoy bleaching the tips of my hair and dyeing them various vibrant colors throughout the year, however, I often stop myself from doing so as frequently as I’d like to because I’m very aware of the potential damage that those chemicals and dyes can inflict on my natural hair.

The Aveda Color Control conditioner that I received and tested is a clear winner in this department after only one use! I recently bleached my hair and dyed the tips a shade of bright emerald green. It didn’t take long before I started to see that my green was beginning to fade.

I shampooed my hair as usual, but tried the Color Control conditioner in place of my regular brand this time around and. WOW!! I finally didn’t find a sink full of excess hair dye mixed with soap (like I usually see during my wash day).

I also truly believe that the Color Control conditioner did an amazing job of creating a nourishing and protective barrier for my hair, therefore making my hair feel much more alive while both retaining its moisture AND my hair color.

I really appreciate the fact that this product is vegan, plant-based, and animal cruelty free as well! It checks almost all of my boxes and I’m very happy with the outcome. I’d purchase it for myself and I’d recommend it to others.

So, why 4 stars instead of 5? I am sadly removing a star due to the size of the sample Aveda provided, and I will briefly explain why. The sample bottle was just barely big enough for me to apply the conditioner to about half of my entire head once.

I have a ton of very thick kinky hair, and it’s harder to rate the product honestly when I’m only able to test it on half of my head. I also really would’ve liked to try the shampoo and conditioner duo vs.

just the conditioner. in order to gain the full experience. Just my humble opinion for Aveda to consider in the near future. Nonetheless, overall I am still quite pleased! 🙂.

I have used Color Conserve shampoo and conditioner for years. The Color Conserve shampoo lathered well, my hair styled easily after using, the fragrance was acceptable, and it appeared to maintain my color even though it was not sulfate free.

I have used the new Color Control shampoo for over a week now, and I am not impressed. The positive about Color Control: 1) it has a pleasant fragrance 2) it is sulfate free and appears to maintain color okay.

The negative about Color Control shampoo: 1) Color Control does not lather well at all–takes twice as much shampoo as Color Conserve to work up a lather 2) bottle size was reduced from Color Conserve shampoo at 8.

5 ounces to Color Control shampoo at 6. 7 ounces 3) the price for Color Control shampoo is more expensive than Color Conserve. Bottom line, Aveda is charging more and providing 1. 8 ounces less shampoo for a new version that requires TWICE as much shampoo to work up an acceptable lather.

It is too cost prohibitive to use the Color Control shampoo even if I liked the results. I do like the fact it is sulfate free, but I can’t see that it is doing any better maintaining my color than the old version, Color Conserve.

I won’t be purchasing Color Control shampoo again.

I have brown, thick wavy/curly hair that is frizz-prone due to the high-humidity climate of the state I reside in. I also have streaks of bleached portions that have been dyed pink. I tried out Aveda’s Color Control conditioner to see if I could get a bit of a volume boost at the roots by using a silicone-free conditioner, and in my case, there wasn’t much benefit to the switch.

My hair felt dryer and “stringy” to the touch, leading it to require detangling (which isn’t usually the case, I don’t tend to have any trouble running a comb through it post shower). Each time I used this conditioner, these effects repeated.

I was left wondering the following: – perhaps the chemistry of this conditioner was designed to work more effectively with the accompanying shampoo (I was not sent the shampoo with it, nor instructed to use it with the matching shampoo), but I did use a silicone-free shampoo with this conditioner in order to ensure a bit more integrity in testing it out.

– perhaps my type of hair (thick, wavy/curly) with the weather where I live (hot and 90%+ humidity most days) aren’t the ideal target or environment for this conditioner to work its best. In the end, I wouldn’t recommend to someone with similar hair/texture living in a similar environment, but this conditioner could work for someone with thin/straight hair.

Almost two months in and im glad its almost gone. I bought it cause I have bleached blue hair and wanted it to last. It does that sure but it does not make my hair feel clean unless I wash my hair twice.

If I dont it doesnt feel like there’s anything in my hair and im just pushing around water. I have thick coarse hair and generally stuck to professional products but this one was a mistake. I use twice as much as I should just to feel clean.

Not buying again.

Is the scent not the most pleasant thing in the world? Sure. But my hair loves this conditioner. I’m so glad I went out on a limb and got the liter size because my hair absorbs this stuff like a sponge.

Some conditioners I have to leave on in the shower for 5-10 minutes to feel like they are actually doing their job, but not this one! Couple minutes does the trick. A lot of the time I don’t even have to bother with my detangling product afterwards because this stuff leaves my hair easy to brush through, and I have a lot of it! Would buy again and recommend it to anyone wanting a great moisturizing conditioner without breaking the bank!.

I purchased this shampoo and conditioner line and hopes that it would do well with my allergies. I have been suffering from any fragrance due to strong shampoo and conditioners. It has a very light natural oatmeal scent which I thought would not bother me.

While it definitely did not bother me as much as other scents, I do not believe it is worth what they are charging for it. The shampoo is extremely thin, you cannot pour it onto your fingertips because it will run right off.

You have to pour it straight into your palm and then almost smush it into your hair in order to make sure that it all goes in. Since it is so thin, you have to end up using more than you would like. Truthfully it did nothing special for my hair, it did not leave it any more moisturized than normal, if anything it made it feel more weighed down and greasy.

If you are looking for an unscented, hypoallergenic shampoo and you have normal hair, try the brand Attitude. It is just as natural if not more, and for half the price. They offer a great line of hypoallergenic, soft scented shampoo and conditioner.

I would not purchase this again.

I thought I was crazy and got a bad batch of shampoo and conditioner. But reading the negative reviews since trying this stuff, I know now it’s not me. First of all, why anyone said that is smells great is beyond me.

There’s barely any smell at all. Secondly, the conditioner leaves a totally gross, sticky and waxy feeling on my hair when I rinsed it out. Did not condition barely at all. Hardly could comb through.

After blow drying, my hair was a frizzy mess and my sensitive scalp got even worse with flaking and itchiness. I seriously don’t understand how anyone could possibly enjoy this conditioner in any way.

Big thumbs down, and a bigger disappointment because I usually love Generic products.

My all-time favorite conditioner. When I started my curly hair journey after cutting it all off and deciding to grow my hair back out, I discovered a curly hair forum. Many users on this forum used this conditioner.

This was probably 8-9 years ago. I have been using this ever since I first tried it as a rinse-out conditioner. I love the smell. It’s kind of a lotion-like scent, nothing strong or crazy. It is hydrating for my dry hair and doesn’t disturb my curl pattern.

Great for detangling and keeps my hair smelling good for days. I always make sure I have some of this conditioner on hand! If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

I have aquamarine hair, and of course I wanted to keep it protected and last as long as possible between color touch ups. I bought this with its Conditioner partner. A good deal of the time I just used the shampoo alone and only A FINGERTIP’S worth of it on my whole head and probably rinsed it longer than I may have needed to.

After my shower my hair would feel so heavy and weighed down it felt like I glopped on the shampoo without even washing it and just got out. My hair appeared super greasy and it wasn’t from any other product since I seldomly use anything besides Shampoo, conditioner (on my ends only), and possibly dry shampoo between washes.

The dry shampoo NEVER made my hair feel heavy. Only whenever I used this stuff. I tried to rough through at least half the bottle and just mix baking soda in every time I used but I just couldn’t.

Great shine! If it has a fragrance, it’s unnoticeable. My preference unscented ie allergies. Too many people tend to over-do on scents which is difficult for those of us with allergies. We noticed box was in very bad condition.

Appeared someone opened re-sealed. Neither bottles protected cap on shampoo opened leaked. They could have used bubble wrap bags and more since only 4 items in large box. Tbey were jostled about. Perhaps the one who saw wet underside removed all protective packing which was probably a mess.

All items had shampoo thankfully nothing damaged. Btw I also use their mousse.

I had the chance to try Tresemme – Revitalize Color Shampoo for Colored Hair. Same has the conditioner, It help protecting the color up to 8 weeks using the colorlock Technology. I use this product for few weeks just after I had done my coloration, a brown-red.

I loved the smell and the quality of this shampoo. I have curly and thick hair and it was doing a good job for me. Love the fact that bottles of shampoo and conditioner are also different color. That is so helpful in the shower to differentiate them.

My color is still vibrant, so it working well. I recommend using the duo for better result. I will buy this product again for sure.

After using the Gem Lites Diamond for a year I decided I would try this shampoo and conditioner out just to see if it made a difference in getting the yellow to go away any more. The biggest difference I could tell was that my toned hair seemed to form a bluish hue to the silver color.

When my hair stylist has touched up my hair before, she said my hair looked like it was doing good on the toning. The time I went back while using this, she asked if I had changed my regimen because the bleach added on top of the top part of the hair that had previously been bleached didn’t take as normal.

It changed to a bit of an odd color. She got it fixed but after that, I switched back to Gem Lites Diamond and haven’t gone back.
