20 Best Shampoo For Thick Wavy Frizzy Hair (2023 Updated)

I have tried SO many different shampoos and conditioners. A lot from drugstore and high end. And lately I’ve noticed I’ve been shedding more than usual. I have been using pureology a lot. I’ve used strength cure, hydrate and the nano works good line.

But for some reason the pureology strength cure especially really irritated my scalp and makes me lose soooo much hair. So I got the ouai thick hair shampoo and conditioner and the first time I used it my shedding was only like 10 hair strands! I’ve washed my hair 4 times with it now and my hair scalp feels so clean but the shampoo makes washing my hair so easy and doesn’t tangle my hair.

And the conditioner is chefs kiss. I barely have to use any and my hair is so conditioned after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair is so soft, shiny, clean and my natural waves/curls look really pronounced since using the set.

Also they smell AMAZING I want a perfume in the shampoo scent! I got the leave in, oil, and curl cream and they all work together beautifully and don’t make my hair feel producty which I like because pureolgy always leaves my hair feeling kinda gross when I use their leave ins.

Anyway I totally recommend this set and if you’re getting greasy hair from this set try the medium or fine hair set. This just probably isn’t for your hair type. I have zero buildup with this and have perfectly clean,soft hair.

The only thing good about this, for me, is the smell. This is just not a good conditioner IMO. I have long, thick hair. I do not use heat of any kind, deep condition regularly, and get regular trims.

All the stores around me stopped selling my HG, so I thought I’d give this a try. I knew immediately I didn’t like it (hair felt drier, more coarse frizzy, *super* tangly), but I wasn’t going to let it go to waste.

After 2 weeks of use I’ve got split ends! Everywhere! Y’all, I don’t get split ends and I just had a trim about 3 weeks before starting use. So, I’m going for a cut tomorrow and throwing the rest of this out! Sorry OGX.

This is the third OGX product I tried and another disappointment. I have medium curly hair (as in not too fine and not too thick) not too oily nor too dry, currently dehydrated on the ends. and this shampoo made my hair feel so heavy, my curls do not have any shape, crazy frizz (yes I have a microfiber towel and tried with t-shirt as well), and a greasy scalp.

I have tried shampoos with sulfate that shape my curls even more and they don’t leave this mess. I’m happy it works for other people. I personally think the smell of OGX products are too strong for my liking and I get sick of that really fast.

Before that, I tried Coconut Milk and argan oil and all of them had the same effect with minor differences that were not positive as well. Coconut milk worked better in shaping my curls but still left these greasy heavy frizzy vibes all over.

Their air-dry curl styler is the only OGX product I liked so far.

I brought this product for a cheaper alternative. I was really disapointed with the results and damage ir had done to my hair. It made me lose hair, made my hair dry and frizzy. Although it smells nice its completly ruined my curls and turned them back to frizz.

Not a good product. Shea moistuer is amazing!! It is just quite expensive! However it nutures your curls and revitlize them in the long-term.

I love this Clarifying Shampoo. I’ve tried many before (Creme of Nature Apple Cider Rinse, Camille Rose Clean Rinse, etc), and all of those stripped the moisture from my hair and made it so dry and straw-like.

But after using Bounce Curls: Clarifying Shampoo, my hair wasn’t dry at all! It was moisturized, super soft, and had so much volume! I couldn’t keep my hands out of my hair I was so surprised. And even after I dried it with my microfiber towel it was still so soft, my hair cuticles were so smooth.

For this product you really don’t need a lot, it foams and spreads easily, and it really does clarify the scalp and remove product build-up. This product gives amazing results on my low porosity 3C-4A curls.

As soon as I got done using it, I tossed my other clarifying shampoo’s in the trash and immediately went to Bounce Curls to purchase more of this product. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

I have been using this shampoo for a little over two months now, and the change in my hair has been fantastic! I use this to wash two to three times a week, and follow-up with the super smooth cream conditioner.

I have also been using the hair detox mask once per month, with deep conditioner. Since using this shampoo, my curls have gained more definition, life, and shine. My 2c/3a hair has been COMPLETELY transformed by the Bounce Curl Products, and I am more comfortable washing my hair more often.

This shampoo leaves my roots without build-up, adding great volume to my hair after each wash. It does not leave the hair feeling dry, but rather leaves it feeling soft – the perfect precursor to detangling once conditioner is in.

I follow the Curly Girl Method of hair care, so using regular shampoo is a no no. With this method i find using a clarifying shampoo is needed once every 1-2 weeks. This Texture ID shampoo is good and very much feels like any ordinary shampoo, but minus the bad stuff – sulfate, which meets Curly Girl standards.

I don’t feel like it moisturises any more than other shampoos, but it doesn’t strip my hair either. I love Texture ID’s conditioner – great detangler and good moisture.

I have wavy hair and I have been trying to follow *some* of the curly hair method rules/products for a while now. I like this shampoo and I do find it makes my hair feel a bit lighter than the other shampoo I was using.

I am also using the Texture ID waves frizz fighting conditioner (could not find it on influenster) and it’s the total opposite of the shea moisture conditioner I was using when it comes to the look and feel of the conditioner itself.

I think it works a bit better for my hair but I am still battling the frizz to a degree lol.

I use this clarifying shampoo twice a month. Really cleans your hair from product build up without drying out your hair. I have coarse hair and it actually made my hair soft. refreshed my coils. I use co-wash cleansing conditioners a lot which doesn’t fully clean your hair so this is perfect.

If your hair isn’t acting right even after washing, you need this clarifying shampoo.

I used these for a while before experimenting with new products. A heads up that the lavender smell is STRONG so if you don’t like lavender do not buy this, it took me a while to get used to. I did love the cooling sensation I would get from this and it felt like it was getting a good deep clean.

My curls always looked great after using the shampoo and conditioner, however the styling cream didn’t always provide the best results. The only reason I stopped purchasing the shampoo and conditioner was due to pricing, since I could get good results from cheaper brands.

My partner and I bought this off of the [brand:pura-dor] website because the one we bought from [brand:ulta] originally was very clearly watered down and would splash into our hands with each pump. We wanted to see if that’s how the product was supposed to be or not so we thought going to the source was best.

Anyways while we really did like a few of the other products, this one is not one of my favorites. I really like the shampoos but I can’t seem to find a conditioner that I like from this brand. They smell very super outdoorsy but not in a sexy rugged man kind of way and kind of like licorice.

 I don’t think it lasts long on the hair but I feel like there’s other things that could either mask the scent or just replace it. Maybe they don’t use fragrances in these because they’re trying to be as healthy as I can and minimalistic but I can’t really get past it so once I’m done with the bottles that I have I will not be buying the conditioners again.

They do seem to be moisturizing and nourishing but there’s also other things that are cheaper on the market that do a better job in that department. .

This shampoo is CGM approved:) I have very dry, long, high porosity, 2c-3b curls – so I shampoo 2X weekly with this Pura D’Or and ‘wash’ with SheaMoisture’s Coconut and Hibiscus Conditioner on the days in-between.

This shampoo is *quite drying*, so I won’t be purchasing it again, *but if you have oily hair – I think you’ll really like it. * I don’t expect lots of lather from CGM shampoos, but this one does lather up nicely.

It’s a large bottle and you don’t need much, so you really get your money’s worth. It lasts a long time.

Ok, so I tried all 4 of the Biolage Smoothproof products that I received in my VoxBox in the same evening. First, I washed my hair with the Smooth Proof Shampoo. I’m not sure how I feel about the shampoo.

It lathered really well, and made my hair feel clean, but I wasn’t a big fan of the scent. It almost seemed unscented to me? I like products to have a lot of scent, so some people might like this because there’s less scent.

Next I used the Smooth Proof Conditioner. It too seemed to be lacking scent, but it did make my hair feel soft. After towel drying my hair, I used the Smooth Proof Leave-in Cream. I liked this cream.

It is lightweight and smells nice. It seemed to do a good job in making my hair smooth, even though I was scrunching it into my hair. I combed it through and let it dry a little more. Finally, I followed up with the Smooth Proof Serum.

(My hair was still damp when I used it, but I could see this being great with dry hair as well. ) This product too was great! It was also lightweight and didn’t make my hair feel greasy or anything. I am used to using the Verb Ghost Oil and found this serum to be very similar.

The next day, after my hair was fully dry (I let it air dry) my hair was way less wild crazy than it normally is! Much less frizz and flyaways. I want to try it again with blow drying my hair and then straightening it.

Overall I think all of these products are great, I just wish their was a little more scent to them!.

Thank you Influenster and Old Spice for making my job as hair manager of our home easier. My husband started to grow his hair out at the beginning of Covid and stay-at-home directives. We both come from multigenerational military families which both have pretty strict appearance rules.

I have known my husband since 14 and his hair has always been cut after it gets 1. 5 inches. Now it is past his shoulders after almost 2 years since his last cut. Beautiful tighter ringlets in back with the front being gently curly and very front wavy.

It is gorgeous and I am jealous. With long hair now issues have popped up like wet brushing and dry hair. He was eager to try these products. He didn’t want me to give a full report until he used it for awhile to give proper input.

His verdict is it is a winner over all the other products we have been trying for him. I love how it brought back the softness to his hair when I run my finger’s through it. He loves less fighting with tangles and the brush.

The smell is nice as a bonus. I will now be trying it on our preteen son whom has decided to grow his out too, but is in that weird stage. Maybe if we start now with these products we won’t have as many issues with his hair!.

This is just amazing for my husband’s wavy hair. He did not get a hair cut from months and his hair has gotten longer than usual. With long hair and winter months his hair is usually dry. This old spice hair moisturizer is so good.

It has the goodness of avocado oil and aloe. It is a leave on moisturizer and helps my husband to easily manage his hair. This provides hydration and moisture the hair needs in this dry winter months.

With frequent usage he has seen great difference and it’s much smoother and shiner than before. It smells great and it’s also good for frizzy hair. I infact tried it and felt that this was just great for my hair too.

Definitely a great choice and my husband will stick on to it!.

I was pretty surprised to see that old spice mad hair care now. And I was pretty skeptical about it. I was surprised though. First, the scent is nice, and not at all what I was expecting. It smells like shampoo, which is better than what old spice generally does for scent.

There would’ve been no way I could walk around smelling old spice all day lol. So don’t let the scent scare you. Otherwise, this stuff is basically like any drugstore shampoo. It’s not competing with the big dogs in hair care, so keep that in mind.

I think this would be a good option for someone who likes this price point. I won’t buy it myself, just because I’m used to some higher quality ingredients. I will keep using this though. Probably use it for vacations, that way if I leave it, I wont be sad.

I want to love this product, it really is amazing, but it weighs my hair down on day 3 and over. I typically wash my hair once a week, but when I use this I have to wash at least three times a week, which I hate because I lose more hair! My hair is fine so I’m sure that doesn’t help, maybe if I had thicker hair this wouldn’t pose an issue.

It smells amazing and can compliment any perfume you may wear. It definitely defines curls and/or waves and holds them in all day! It doesn’t too much stop the frizz though; I found my hair just as frizzy as before.

Overall, if you have fine or thin hair with deep waves or curls and wash daily or every other day, this product is for you!! However, if you don’t wash often, probably not the best choice as you will need to use it daily for curl refreshing and it doesn’t layer up well for daily use on the same (unwashed) hair.

I did only have to use two pumps for my mid-back length hair, so a little does go a very long way!.

I got this product complimentary from Influenster and Pureology for my honest review. I really loved how this product worked for my hair. It left it so smooth and silky. It lathered really nicely and felt great when I washed it.

It also rinsed out nice and easy and left my scalp feeling great. When I blew my hair dry it was like silk. Absolutely fabulous! Only negative, which I was REALLY surprised about, was the scent of this product.

It was not pleasant at all to me and not something like I’ve ever smelled in a shampoo. I didn’t like it and for me that is important in a shampoo. I have other Pureology products and love their scents.

it’s just this one that I couldn’t tolerate. Otherwise, I love how the product works, but due to the scent I would not buy this product. Sorry but it’s just my honest opinion. I only like haircare that has a nice pleasant smell and this one fell short in that area.

It was almost like lightly nutty and musky and sour all mixed together. Hard to explain but it was not like typical haircare scents. For those that don’t care about how a shampoo smells, this would probably be good for you because it does work for smoothing and shine.

This shampoo is amazing, its rare I find a shampoo that works really good and smells amazing too it’s smells like berry’s mixed it’s lemonade, I love it my son tells me how good I smell when I use it, the scent is not overwhelming tho it’s just right and as far as the name “smooth moves” it says it all my hair is so smooth with zero frizz after using this product! Okay when I use it with the 2 other products from this hair line it’s even better, I have not tried a lot from this brand but what I have tried I love I have never been disappointed by not your mothers hair care! So if you need a shampoo to keep your hair smooth I recommend this one, my hair is pretty long it is normally somewhat straight with what I call bumps in the back not curls but bumps it actually reduces the bumps I don’t have super frizzy hair but it does make my hair smooth and calm down any loose hairs that might want to point random ways.

I do nit have the conditioner that goes with this but I have 2 other products to use with this to know it works but I am low on conditioner and I plan to by it to go with my set! I may even grab their beach wave spray that’s the one product I used and loved before this one.

But I will compare prices on that to what I’m using not. And I’m off topic so I’m moving on have a lovely day. ( the scent is actually berry vanilla but I swear I smell something citric and like it).

I received this shampoo and matching conditioner in my Birchbox this past month and was reluctant to try it because usually I’m disappointed when I use something other then my normal stuff. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

I have super long, super thick and very wavy/frizzy hair. I HAVE to blow dry and straighten it following washing. But, I tried the shampoo and conditioner, and towel dried it, and let it air dry just to see what would happen.

There was still a little frizz evident, but I will say my waves looked nice and defined, and though it was still a little coarse feeling (it was just one use) it was SO much softer and shinier then it would ever be without styling.

My hair did not feel heavy or greasy. I will say the smell threw me off a bit, there’s no nice fragrance and the consistency was very thick so I didn’t think it was going to be that great but it actually left my hair even next day smelling clean and fresh.

I will definitely try it again with styling.

Purchased this shampoo on impulse as my usual shampoo was nearly finished. Normally I read the reviews but on this occasion I didn’t. I wish I had now. Easy to use from the tube, so handy for the shower but the first thing that struck me was it didn’t have a particularly pleasant scent! It was difficult to lather and seemed to tangle my hair.

I washed it twice, which I don’t usually need to, nor do I need to use conditioner, and my hair seemed to tangle even more and felt rough! A light towel dry and I attempted to use a wide toothed comb, my usual, and my hair was so tatty! My hair dry, now looks more wavy than curly.

Such a waste of money, I paid £8 for it in Tesco.

I’ve always struggled with my hair. It’s so thick, curley, it grows outwards rather then up or down. It gets frizzy far too quickly, so I’ve always decided to keep my hair short. Until my wife told suggested the shampoo/conditioner range, in addition to this I also bought the scrunching gel.

And I’ve noticed a BIG difference already. My hair feels better, looks better, falls better, my curls have become curlier- which I didn’t think was possible and most importantly my hair is finally locking in moisture which Its never done with any other shampoo.

Bought this shampoo/conditioner because I love the curl cream that this brand has. I have extremely thick 2C-3A hair. This conditioner dried my hair out to the point that I would get out of the shower and it would take me 30+ minutes to detangle my hair before styling it.

My hair felt like hay in and out of the shower. My hair would be in huge clumps and I was also losing huge clumps of hair. I switched back to my old hair products and after just one use my hair was immediately better.

I do NOT recommend for anyone who genuinely cares about their hair’s health. I bought this because it was significantly cheaper than my old products and I loved the curl cream, but it’s worth it to splurge on the good products rather than damaging your hair with this.

I won’t be using any of these products anymore. Also, it smells a bit like flea shampoo. Not even worth one star.

I love Pacifica’s Hair Nirvana gummies for hair, nails skin so I wanted to give their shampoo and conditioner set a try! I noticed a little goes a long ways with this shampoo when using. You apply to your hair at the scalp massage it into your upper head of your hair and mid middle of your hair scalp.

You let the rest of your shampoo drip down on your lower length of your hair rising it out with Luke warm water. After washing my hair I noticed that it brings out my hair color which is blonde, my natural color, adds shine making it look very healthy bring out my natural curls.

My hair also feels very clean and small a beyond great like pineapple tropical paradise for a day! Does not make my hair oily. Gives my hair the perfect amount of moisture without leaving it dried out feeling.

This shampoo and conditioner is made with natural and or essential oils. One thing I love about this lightweight shampoo is that it’s great for all hair types, formulated without parabens, phthalates, sls or mineral oil, NO sulfates 100% vegan formulated cruelty-free! This is also both my daughter’s top favorite shampoo conditioner.

I was shocked. I have had super curly hair my entire life. I bought the pineapple curl bundle kit and used the shampoo, conditioner, and curly definer. My hair is the curliest and lightest IT HAS EVER BEEN! Products rarely work as well as advertised.

I am genuinely SHOCKED. I touch up curls every other day and use a small amount of the deep conditioning pineapple curl mask like a hair defrizzer when the outside of my curls are getting dry or look undefined.

Super amazing. I am slowly interchanging products with other things to get different effects on different days. My curls are so light and blow in the breeze like a shampoo commercial. In the Spring sun it looks super juicy and bouncy and the color also looks a little different.

Like my hair glows. Lol. Miracle products. I highly suggest the entire bundle kit. ❤️.

This is the first review I’ve written for anything, but I was stunned by this product. I was expecting it to have more of a milk cream consistency, so I squeezed a good sized amount (nickel-sized) into my hand.

When I rubbed it between my hands, I realized how thick this product is. It’s very thick, and I thought oh god this is too much. But I didn’t want to waste it, so I scrunched it into my hair. While my hair air dried, it felt heavy and greasy, and I thought I’d hate the product.

Any product I tried before this either weighed my hair down or made it stiff, so I was expecting that to happen with this product. I woke up the next morning, my hair now fully dried, and omg it feels normal.

No heavy weight, no stickiness, no crunch. I was shocked. For reference I have 2b-2c hair. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I’ve only used it once. But I think I’m going to like this one, and I’m going to try more products in this line!.
