20 Best Shampoo For Dry Wavy Frizzy Hair (2023 Updated)

Living Proof gifted me this product and the accompanying conditioner in exchange for my honest review. I have been using this product for about 2-3 weeks now. I have dry, thin, often frizzy hair and a sensitive scalp.

I have previously enjoyed the PhD in-shower styler and dry shampoo from Living Proof, but this is my first time trying out shampoo and conditioner from the brand. I love the scent of living proof products and this one is no different.

The fragrance in this shampoo isn’t too overpowering and it doesn’t irritate my scalp, but it does keep my hair smelling nice for a while after I shower. I love the sleek matte packaging of this product.

It’s easy to use and it looks nice without trying to do more than it needs to. I do find that this shampoo and conditioner combo helps to tame the frizz in my hair. We are well into frizzy hair season in the south, but my hair has been looking more wavy than frizzy with this product.

I’ve really enjoyed testing this product and I will continue to do so!.

This shampoo cleanses really well but makes my hair feel hydrated and nourished. The anti-frizz formula really contains some nourishing and smoothing ingredients. I love the rich lather and amazing fragrance.

The formula is incredibly gentle and doesn’t strip color from my color-treated hair. It makes my hair feel stronger and smoother. This formula makes my hair look really healthy and shiny. My hair has less frizz and brushes through really easily, despite my damage from dying and heat styling my hair.

It doesn’t weight down my fine hair even though it is very hydrating. I have long hair but I don’t need much to wash my hair. My hair doesn’t look frizzy when it dries or when I heat styled my hair. It looks and feels so smooth and silky! I highly recommend this shampoo for all hair types!.

I have long, thick, balayaged hair that lives way more of a fabulous life than I do. I don’t skimp on shampoo and for that reason I have always liked all the Biolage shampoos I’ve tried. They are high quality and come in very nice sized bottles for the price.

That is why I was so very eager to try smooth proof because my hair is also wavy and without some taming, it can get pretty wild. I first tried this shampoo a few times without the conditioner (This is me most days for sake of time and also to avoid build up) and I was so happy with the results.

It did not weight my hair down at all. The wave was more cohesiveness and it was soft and so shiny! I do use with the conditioner at least once a week and that is where you really see the smooth get to another level.

However, it didn’t weight it all completely down, I still had plenty of lift at my crown without any real styling (Which I generally avoid) Like all the other Biolage shampoos I’ve tried, it lathers well.

You don’t need much. I also really love the floral scent, reminds me of orange mlossom. I’ve been using it for more than a month now and my hair still feels great. I’ve tried so many other smoothing shampoos and they can build up over time, so glad they added this shampoo to the line.

The shampoo smells just like the conditioner. Though the shampoo is clear it dose feel like it leaves something behind maybe to help the smoothing so it doesn’t feel absolutely clean. It’s not clarifying.

Using it alone just washing hair it didn’t do much of a good job smoothing however paired with the Smooth Proof system it did fine in my hair. With others In my family 3a,3b 3c it worked fine at helping smooth hair with only a shampoo but not for a full day.

But right after and an air dry it stayed pretty smooth. The cap is yellow not to be confused with the conditioner. I believe it works better when you have to do a full wash. Shampoo, conditioner, leave in.

maybe oil. A refresh with some water just sprayed to rehydrate. On my hair it can last about 2 days no excessive frizz with just a little spritzing to rehydrate. After a light pat and squeezing I could definitely see some definition in my curls.

Right out the shower nothing added. Not super smooth because I have very curly hair but I was impressed. I was very impressed with the Smooth Proof system as a whole. All together the products worked nicely in my vey curly hair.

Though it did not completely keep the frizz away it did a very very good job. I will keep using and even recommend it. I’d say for a type 3-4a hair this would be a good system of washing and conditioning for a smooth curl defining look.

If you are not pulling or fluffing hair the whole system will work fine.

I know that’s a bold claim to make, but this shampoo (and the accompanying conditioner) have actually changed my lifestyle. I have long and fine hair: enough of it to knot really badly but not enough to provide any volume at all.

I have tried pretty much every product on the market for fine hair: shampoos, serums, dry shampoos, powders etc. at many price points, and I have never found anything that would provide more than a few hours worth of lift/volume.

I’ve had to wash my hair every day because second day hair has always looked really limp and flat, and occasionally greasy even if I’ve not had any product in it. I know that washing your hair every day isn’t great and often not practical but it was either that or be happy with a drowned rat in a chip pan look.

When you use the shampoo it doesn’t lather up much and it doesn’t feel very hydrating in the shower either, if anything it feels like it might be drying your hair. Despite that I have no issues combing it afterwards and even without using a hairdryer I get thicker looking, volumised hair that lasts not just for one day but for two, in fact my hair looks just as good on day 2 as it did on day 1.

So when I say it’s life changing it really is – I no longer have to wash my hair every day, I don’t have to use a hairdryer every day either saving time, water and money. I use two pumps of the shampoo every other day and I still have product left in the bottle from starting use at the end of April.

I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I’ve bought some for my mum (from whom I inherited my hair thickness) who is also really impressed. It may seem a bit expensive as an initial outlay but I think I’m going to get 4 months of washes from one bottle so will definitely work out cheaper than a high street shampoo.

I bought my first at the beginning of Jan 2022 and there’s still product left! The bottle is feeling lighter so I ordered another round that just arrived today. This time I ordered the scalp pre wash oil as well to introduce to my hair and scalp.

For $18 a bottle, this product has lasted me 4 months. I wash my hair every other day and use 2 pumps that I massage all over my scalp and then spread the remaining product to the ends. The shampoo will make your hair fear like elastic at first, but once you rinse and apply the conditioner (I apply at ends first and then remaining product at top of hair, but I never massage conditioner in) it will feel nourished and silky smooth.

When my hair dries, it looks bouncy, full, shiny, and hydrated. I have dry and sensitive skin/scalp/everything lol, and my hair is very thin. What makes it worse is I’m sensitive to stress so I get a lot of hair loss 🙁 After 4 months of using this product shampoo+conditioner, I noticed a huge difference.

The health of my scalp and hair has greatly improved. What can I say, I think I found the one! As someone with thin hair and hair loss, I tried many shampoos, but none gave me the results I was looking for.

this JVN duo really helped my scalp get less dry and flaky, I noticed less hair fallout, and my hair always feels bouncy and full after. Because my hair/body takes time to adjust to new products, I decided to only start with the shampoo and conditioner first, but now I’m ready to introduce the scalp oil pre wash.

I live in LA and the climate here is usually dry, and the water is very hard/harsh and not good for our hair. (The chemicals they use to clean the water is no bueno). If you’re giving this product a try, follow the steps and give your hair 1-2 weeks to adjust and about a month to see a change.

I was about to type, “Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but. ” But that’s nonsense. I’ve been washing my own hair for over 50 years, so I am confident that’s not the problem. Having said that? I am not getting good results from the Embody shampoo and conditioner.

My hair is thin, fine, straight, shoulder length, and never, ever heat-styled. As I’ve been doing for decades, I start cleansing at the scalp first, then work down the hair shaft, and start conditioner on the ends first, then work it UP the hair shaft.

Every time with Embody, I’m left with hair that is flat and quickly greasy at the scalp, and dried out and stringy at the ends. It’s a strange mix of results to say the least, like nothing I’ve ever experienced (if a product backfires on me, it’s usually one or the other)! On the plus side, both products are a pleasant sensorial experience to use.

The liquid textures are great, the shampoo lather feels silky, the conditioner does detangle well, and the scent is heavenly! That’s why I’m giving the line two stars. I will use up the bottles because I have them now, and returns are more of a hassle than I feel like dealing with.

I can (sort of) fix the issues I’m left with by bringing in a little dry shampoo at the roots, and some leave-in product I already have for the dry ends. It’s not like I have to wear a paper bag over my head to leave the house.

But I shouldn’t have to “fix” anything after using products like this that are on the spendy side, and billed to be more of a high-end experience. Jonathan, I adore you madly and always will! But your JVN Embody line is just not working for me :(.

Truly the best smelling, feeling and cool looking shampoo I’ve ever used. I agree with the other reveiwer saying better than Kiehl’s. In fact I tossed mine out already and am sticking with this awesome brand.

When I received this product I was so excited to try it. My hair is super frizzy and I get so many fly aways which drive me nuts. I have tried many shampoos and products to try and tame the frizz which haven’t been up to the task.

I used this shampoo for 3 washes total over a total of 6 days and here are my thoughts on it: The smell of the shampoo is interesting. It kind of smells like citronella to me. The smell isn’t too strong which I was happy about since I don’t care for strongly scented hair or skin care products.

When I first used the shampoo I was very confused because I couldn’t get it to bubble at all. I tried to add more water to my head hoping it would help, to no avail. I ended up putting more of the shampoo on my hair which didn’t help produce suds either.

Each time that I washed with this shampoo I had the same issue so I ended up needing to use way more of the product than I do with regular shampoo that bubbles. The shampoo kind of weighs down my hair but, I am EXTREMELY happy that my hair is not frizzy after using this product! I have NEVER had an anti frizz product work this well.

I didn’t have to use any hair spray or mouse to tame my hair while using this shampoo. I wash my hair every other day and it remained frizz free between washes! Pros: NO FRIZZ, light scent, works for many days.

Cons: non sudsing, you have to use a lot of the product to wash your hair properly. I do recommend this product!.

I am a long time Aveda customer and have been using Smooth Infusion conditioner for years along with Be Curly shampoo. I loved the original version and this new reformulation really didn’t work for my hair.

It made it really dry and tangled at the ends and also kind of heavy. In hopes of finding something that would give me similar results to the original Smooth Infusion I’ve since tried out both of the Nutriplenish conditioners.

The lighter moisture version gave me very similar bad results to the new Smooth Infusion, but the richer moisture version works really well for me/similar results to the original Smooth Infusion! So if you are pining for the old version, perhaps give that a shot.

For reference my hair is mid-length, wavy/curly, fairly normal (not typically oily or dry), strands are varied thickness from thin to medium, and I live in the southwest US. **Also – I have always had really excellent experiences with Aveda customer service so if you are not happy with what you have I’d definitely suggest reaching out to them.

I had used the old Smooth Infusion formula for years and loved it, so I was a bit dismayed when I saw the formula had changed. The initial reviews from longtime customers were terrible, so I decided to jump ship to a different brand for a while.

After being quite dissatisfied with that brand, I decided to come back and give this new formula a shot. I was pleasantly surprised! Compared to the old formula, this one doesn’t lather quite as well, but the scent and results are pretty much the same as the old formula.

Sure, my hair is a bit oily and ready for a wash by the 3rd day (I have long, thick, frizzy/wavy hair living in a humid climate so I’m not a daily shampooer), but it’s not an oil slick like some of the reviews made it out to be.

I’ve tried about 5 different solid shampoos (some a lot more expensive for smaller bars) and this is the best for me. I have dry hair at the ends but it can get greasy on the roots. I bought this shampoo as I have the same brand’s shower gel solid bar which I love so thought I would try their shampoos and I’m not disappointed.

It cleans but doesn’t over clean and I find I just rub the bar over my hair 3-4 times and I get a lovely lather. It rinses out easily and thoroughly and it doesn’t leave my hair with that tacky waxy feeling like some do on my hair but it isn’t stripped either.

It feels just clean but nourished. I don’t think I would try another bar now as this ticks all the boxes for me.

I like the fact that this is environmentally friendly, it is also the best shampoo I have found for my hair. My hair looks healthier and shinier than it has in a long time, I don’t even have to use conditioner with it as much.

Softens and conditions hair without leaving it heavy.

I was first introduced to this Dove product as part of a free trial and I really loved it that I went out and purchased these bottles. I had only previously used Dove soap but this product reminds of the soap in many ways.

It is clean, fresh and crisp. As someone whose favorite smells are “fresh rain” and “clean laundry” this is such a clean shampoo. There are no gimmicks about crazy scents or false promises. The shampoo is rich and creamy in nature.

Everything about the product is fresh and you end up with silky smooth hair. Also, you do not need to use that much to give your whole hair this feeling. I have shoulder length hair and a small amount on my hand does the trick.

The bottle is also a good shape. Sometimes you receive shampoos and it does not consider the product still has to balance often on a ledge once it is half empty. I purchased this product as part of the Amazon pantry program so it was a total steal! You get a ton of shampoo in the bottle.

I also purchased the companion conditioner, which has all of the similar silky smooth characteristics.

I received these products complimentary. * So I just tried the Dove Amplified Textures Shampoo. I figured I was at the beach earlier and why not use these new products. SO! #1) packaging is cute, I like that it has a pump.

But when I pump this product into my hair, #2) the shampoo has an odd consistency. IT FEELS LIKE GEL in my hands, which is BIZARRE when you’re used to regular shampoo. Now with that said, it lathers nicely and doesn’t strip my hair.

For my girls who are team natural: this product is SLS free, so it’s not going to strip your hair. Which is great! However. the reason for 3 stars is because if you use the whole system (shampoo. conditioner, leave in), Im not sure whether it would completely remove the dimethicone thats in the conditioner and leave in (the jury is still out on those).

overall its a nice shampoo and I’ll give it another try. I would give it a shot if not having sulfates in your shampoo is a must, you don’t mind products with a weird consistency, and you don’t use heavy products with silicones, heavy oils, or butters (shea butter, etc).

Okay, let me start by saying that after middle school, my hair started to get oily faster it seemed like and my hair had less volume to it. During this time, I tried a lot of different brands and ended up landing on Garnier Fructis.

I really *thought* this was the best brand for me since it did better than the tons of other brands I tried and in comparison. Well, somewhat recently, I forgot to bring my shampoo and conditioner with me when visiting family and had to borrow some of the Aveeno Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo/conditioner they had.

I ended up liking it and purchasing some after my Garnier ran out. Fast forward to now: I ran out of Aveeno and haven’t been able to find it in my local store before I needing to purchase more shampoo so I decided to do some research.

I ended up purchasing this set of shampoo and conditioner because the reviews sounded great and while I haven’t used the conditioner just yet I am AMAZED by this shampoo. Seriously. After using this, I’m not sure how I ever thought my other go-to options were the best because this one just surpasses them by far (so that’s really saying something about the other brands that I thought were way worse than the Garnier and Aveeno ones I did like.

). I have very thick, long hair, so I always found it difficult to really lather up my shampoo. It usually just sort of creates a thin layer of product that weighs down my hair and doesn’t want to break down or distribute throughout.

This, of course, means it’s also hard to wash out completely, which is probably why my hair began to have less volume over the years and has been looking more flat/gets oily pretty quickly (because of the shampoo buildup).

This shampoo, on the other hand, is super easy to lather up and takes significantly less product. It made my hair instantly feel lighter! I could pick up my hair in the shower and really run my fingers throughout it at the roots, massaging my scalp and getting the product all over.

It also smells great! It’s not a specific scent and it’s not overbearing, but it’s a nice, light, fresh scent that I really like (which is surprising since I don’t typically enjoy products labeled as such – “fresh scent,” “ocean air,” “fresh linen,” etc.

). It made my hair feel so clean after using it the first time and every time I’ve used it since, I am just more and more amazed – especially since it costs less per ounce than my previous ones did! Overall, 20 out of 10! Would recommend!.

OMG! WOW! After 30 plus years of colouring my hair, it is in terrible, frizzy condition. I swear i’ve tried EVERYTHING to achieve soft, silky tresses and have been continually disappointed. I discovered this shampoo and conditioner very recently, when it was on offer at half price. I wish I had found it before. I am 71 years old and my hair has lost most of it’s youthful appearance, and become really dry.

After only a couple of uses of this shampoo and conditioner, my hair is becoming really lustrous again. I can’t believe the difference, it’s soft and shiny, but also seems more full and bouncy again.

It’s really made a huge difference, my hair is fairly long, and I had been wearing it in an ‘up do’, as I was not happy with its condition. Now, I am confident to wearing it loose, and have received loads of compliments since using Pantene products.

I recently dyed my hair grey so I decided to test this one. I’m currently using this conditioner and it does wonders to my hair. There is Jojoba oil in it, which makes my hair smooth, silky, healthy and shiny.

It moisturizes and helps with the detangling of my damaged hair. I find this product amazing because it really works! It helps me remove the yellow tones and revive the color of my hair. This conditioner is exactly what I needed, so I’m planning on buying the shampoo and the mask as well.
