20 Best Shampoo For Blue Hair (2023 Updated)

I am really disappointed that Aveda discontinued their Camomile shampoo and conditioner. I used that shampoo for over 25 years and it served my naturally blonde hair so well. Based on advice from Aveda I purchased this Blue Malva product and it is TERRIBLE.

My hair is blue and dull, and the shampoo itself leaves purple streaks on anything it touches. I’ve tried several other shampoo products and am disappointed with every one of them, including Shampure and Cherry Almond.

Having spent money trying to find an Aveda replacement for Camomile with no success, I am very disappointed to say the least. As a longtime loyal customer, I am now testing other brands to find a shampoo that works for me.

Please bring back the Camomile shampoo and conditioner.

I have noticed my hair is turning brassy when I stopped using this brand of shampoo and tried a different brand. I have been using this shampoo for a long time, for about 5 years and I love what it does for my salt and pepper hair.

Have to switch back to this shampoo again! I wash my hair everyday and this shampoo works for me, my hair is manageable, easy to comb and I do not even use hair conditioner. Occasionally, I use amla oil or castor oil to treat my hair and my hair is thick and strong.

I love my salt and pepper hair and I have not gone to have it colored. Tried to, before my son’s wedding and before my daughter’s wedding, but I changed my mind. I will have it natural.

Used this colour on my daughter’s strawberry blonde hair to give it a boost & she’s fallen in love with it. Very good shampoo & great coverage when applied correctly on washed, towel dried hair.

I tried this after seeing a YT Video by Southern Charm’s hairdresser. I have long hair with natural curl and live in a coastal area so my hair can go from flat ironed straight to full blown Diana Ross in little time.

Dream Coat works great but after seeing the video on this, wanted to try it. I have healthy hair and like to use nourishing products. I’ve tried other oils but they felt greasy to me and I would have to wash daily.

This did not leave my hair “greasy” at all! My hair was smooth, soft and felt so good. Had a blow out look and did not need to use my flat iron. I’m a fan for sure and will use this every time before I dry my hair.

It held volume good and stayed soft all day / night.

I really wanted to love this blue shampoo and conditioner. I have been using different brand blue shampoos for awhile and decided to splurge on this one. Unfortunately it made my balayage super brassy and Orange.

I immediately stopped using it after a month of giving it a shot. Once I went back to my joico blue shampoo my hair immediately got rid of the brassy look after one wash. I was bummed because I had high hopes.

I am brunette with not chemically treated hair, I decided to give my hair more cooler tone, unfortunately it didn’t work, besides my hair got darker on one to two shades. However, I give 4 stars because this shampoo gave me different effect with which I am super happy.

My hair also straight and flat with super oily scalp, so what I do I wash my hair with densifying shampoo first, then for second wash I use Cool Brunette Shampoo using exfoliating brush and let it sit for few minutes.

Let me tell you it worked amazing, I ended up with beautiful volume and my hair stays clean for 3-4 days, while before I had to wash my hair almost every day. The smell it’s a little bit strong but I don’t mind it.

I love L’ange products, but I have to be honest about this one. I have brown and blue colored hair- and maybe the blue was the problem. But, my hair stylist was very specific about getting a shampoo and conditioner without sulfates.

I saw this blue shampoo from L’ange and thought “Perfect!”. I saw it had no parabens and didn’t even register that that isn’t sulfates. I used this shampoo about 3 times before I noticed the brand new blue color was stripping out of my hair! It had been less than two weeks! I looked up the shampoo on the website and realized my mistake.

I knew I couldn’t go back to my stylist and claim that the issue was hers or the hair coloring itself when I hadn’t followed her advice. So, I purchased some different shampoo and conditioner without sulfates or parabens as well as some conditioner that temporarily colors hair blue to cover the stripped areas until I can get back into the salon for my next appointment.

So, maybe this is strictly for brunette hair and I messed up by using it on my hair that was of another color. But, I have had no further issues with stripping or noticeable lightening of the blue color since switching to this other brand without sulfates.

Ugh. I hate being that person who’s complaining on the website about a product. I feel very “I need to speak to your manager” right now.

I purchased the Brunette Boost Shampoo (and conditioner) to keep the red tones from my hair color. It was a Facebook deal 5 for $45 and since I loved the styling tools so much, it didn’t take much for me to fill my bag up and purchase.

Within 2 weeks, my hair turned so brittle, started to shed so much,, and I actually have bald spots towards the front top of my head. My hair stylist, whom I’ve been going to for over 5 years now, was in absolute shock.

She took before pictures and we now have a “plan” in place to try and get my hair back to its former glory. I come from a long line, on both sides, of healthy thick hair. I’m am sick to my stomach of this.

It didn’t even tone my hair, as I noticed zero difference.

Buy this myself but this is a gift for my Mum who sadly stopped using this as the prices in Aveda stores had escalated so much. She loves the shampoo and conditioner and I know its the best she’s ever used but she simply couldn’t afford it.

You only need the tiniest bit and your hair feels amazing and has a great shine. It keeps your colour looking fresh and more vibrant for much longer than ordinary shampoos and conditioners. Seems like your hair blowdries into place much easier so fewer bad hair days and less use of straighteners.

Hopefully this will be the start of many purchases for us both now we’ve found it on your website at a much better price. Thanks.

I couldn’t see my hair stylist during hot months of Covid. I usually get blonde highlights over my dark blonde hair. I decided I’ll just go ahead use a box of hair dye from garnier. I got mix of orange brassy bad hair.

So I called my hair stylist and she recommended blue shampoo and I was familiar with purple shampoo but when I looked up blue this came up so I ordered from Nordstrom. After I I actually purchase this lasted me 6 months and with almost everyday use.

Tones hair without overdoing like purple shampoo. Makes hair soft and fluffy. Not dry and brittle. Smells good and lathers nicely. Best shampoo out there any day. Before this I was regularly buying from target next promising shampoo with great packaging , horibble quality and questionable results.

Buying this is budget friendly and almost like a investment on myself. When I’m having a good hair day , I am more confident and in better mood. Also my hair quality improves with this shampoo. I stopped buying it after I ran out the first time and now I realize this is something I need to regularly include in my daily routine.

I am also considering conditioner from same company. Just best best ever.

Cannot understand these great reviews! This Blue Malva shampoo and conditioner is simply awful. By far the worst I’ve used. The price point is ridiculous for the lack of result. Not only does it do NOTHING for my highlighted natural blonde hair, it actually actively makes the colour worse! After first use my highlights were dull and hair was really dry.

Even when I piled the conditioner on I couldn’t get my brush though it. I should clarify that my hair has always been manageable and neither dry nor greasy, just luckily have shiny and soft hair so I was really shocked that a product had actually given me problems! I tried to keep using it because you can (ridiculously enough) only buy the huge bottles (what a scam), but I had to give it away to a friend because it was making my hair so lustreless.

My friend hates it too so she’s using it as shower gel – lol -Waste of money or what? Smell is lovely like all Aveda products, that’s what it gets one star for. Huge BOOOO to blue malva, would not recommend if you’re blonde.

I ordered this to refresh my Unicorn color on the recommendation of my daughter’s bus driver lol. It works really well! Like others say, yes it is messy, but cleans super easy. My color had faded really fast, as pinks and reds tend to do, and one wash with this stuff made it look like a fresh dye! The only reason I knocked a star off is because it came out looking more red than pink after the wash.

It’s still pretty and super vibrant, but I was really digging the fuchsia/pink locks instead of the reds I used to normally gravitate towards. So, while this stuff is awesome, works well and smells great, I’ll probably order the pink next time and see what that does.

As others have said, this shampoo is so deeply pigmented it will stain anything. Great for hair but not for shower. Three was later and still have fuchsia stain on shower. Hair is dark brown (dyed) w magenta strands and fuchsia turned overall deep but vibrant reddish-magenta.

Not exactly the look I was going for but pretty. Problem is. 3 was later when I had hair appt, used clarifying shampoo twice to lift color out and wouldn’t budge. It more or less has now stained my hair so for those who color often and do have porous hair, you may run into this.

Went ahead and had stylist put normal color but have no way of knowing when reddish tint will wash out. Considering getting the purple to see it’s effect but be warned, you MUST wear gloves while applying.

It’s messy and will stain the moment it touches anything. Washes out of towels easily but not marble or tile. Had a pink scalp for days! But it does work for a cheaper price than the salon and great in- bw for upkeep.

For those who said it didn’t work in their hair, shampoo then put a shower cap on and get out of shower for 20 min ( have towel ready bc don’t want drips) and let sit on hair before rinsing. This is what I did and like I said.

a month later and I can’t get all of it out of my hair. If only I’d had this option as a teen, I could’ve saved so much $$.

I have been using the purple shampoo and conditioner since September. The shampoo when it arrived was fine, intact, I was excited. Once I opened the package is when it went down hill. Quality wise, it smells really good and it has worked to keep my hair from fading too quickly, and at first it made my hair feel good, however after using it these past few weeks my hair no longer feels nice after washing, and when I scratch my scalp my nails come back with purple build up on them.

Not to mention the bottle leaks like crazy from the nozzle, even when the bottle hasn’t been touched in days. My shower is so stained because of the leakage and its wasted a lot of product.

I was sceptical about this product’s claim as my blondey ends had become quite orange. I hoped the shampoo would make the brown dyed hair darker but didn’t think it would do anything for the blonde. I gave it a go and was seriously impressed.

The brunette colour is so much deeper (also hiding my mouse roots) and the blonde ends fade really nicely into the brunette whilst looking a whole lot less brassy. I’d recommend this to anyone who is predominantly brunette with blondeish/ light brown ends.

It’s Saved me a few salon trips to get my roots seen to. Only with I’d bought the conditioner too!.

All my hair products are Redken so was looking forward to testing their colour extend brownlights shampoo. Not sure if wearing gloves will be a requirement going forward but I had to wear gloves to use it.

It seems to have brightened up my highlights and my hair feels soft but it’s definitely not as smooth or as silky as my hair normally is from using a Redken shampoo. My hair felt as though I was using the Clean Maniac shampoo – it didn’t really lather up much even after a rinse and repeat.

I think if they could make improvements to these things then I would definitely consider using it in future.

This along with the conditioner is definitely the worst product I’ve ever bought and should come with clear warnings. If gloves are needed they should be supplied and who wants to wash their hair with gloves and blue “dye” destroying the shower.

So much hassle, read all the info before buying. My hair doesn’t feel freshly washed after using. Now will have to go and buy another shampoo & conditioner, expensive mistake!.

I have only used the shampoo in combination with the conditioner, and I did notice a subtle difference in my hair after. For background on my hair color: I had dirty blonde with darker roots and was getting bored with my color during quarantine.

I lightened my hair with sun in at home (I know I know, I will NOT make this mistake again) and my hair came out lighter but really brassy. My roots were brighter than the ends. After using this shampoo, I noticed my roots weren’t as “hot” and overall my hair has a strawberry blonde look rather than orange.

I think the shampoo smells good and it isn’t messy. My hair didn’t feel dried after, but I also used a Hask Argan oil deep conditioner immediately after. My hair feels very soft. I plan to use the shampoo every other day and will update my review with the results.

Love this product for my blonde hair. I haven’t used it for a while, but will if I see it again. It extended my color longer and also brought out the shine in my hair. The smell wasn’t bad either. This conditioner can help tone slight brassiness too.

I definitely recommend giving it a try. I have fine, dry hair, so please keep that in mind if you have thick, oily hair. What works for one type of hair doesn’t always work for another.

I LOVE Hask products anyway, but this was good working stuff. It does everything you expect it to! My hair wasn’t brittle or dull after using like ive seen reviews say about it and I have very damaged hair if that helps! The smell wasn’t great like they usually are but it is easy to deal with and cover up.

Love the packaging and the color of this stuff too! Im always fascinated by colorful shampoo and conditioner lol. Recommend this and all of their stuff 1000%!.

I’ve never tried this brand before but I like the effect it gives on naturally silver/grey hair. Leaves hair super shiny
