20 Best Shampoo For 4C Low Porosity Hair (2023 Updated)

I have been using the Cantu range for about 5-6 months now and I can really see and feel a difference in my hair. It was so damaged and dry due to not being cut during lockdown and, a lot of hair loss after the birth of my daughter.

It was in such a bad state. I thought I’d give this a go as it claims it’s hydrating, which is what my hair needed most. The first few washes I found my hair greasy at the roots, however, I continued with my trial and kept using it, just altering the amount until I found the right amount for my hair.

Now my hair is shiny, soft and so much healthier, even my hairdresser commented how much better it looks and how lovely and soft it is. I also use the kids range on my daughter, she is 2 and had dry hair that wasn’t growing at all.

After the first couple of months I noticed her hair was in much better condition and it had grown a bit too. Now 6 months on and there has been a significant amount of growth. I don’t think the shampoo and conditioner is some miracle hair growth product, but I think because it’s improved the condition of her hair, it’s encouraged proper hair growth.

I will continue using this range as it’s been a godsend for my hair. I recommend trying this but, persevere with it as it took a few months for me to see some real improvements. Definitely worth it though.

I’ve tried Cantu products before and they’ve always been a little disappointing. This product, however, did not disappoint at all! I was in the market for a clarifying shampoo for my naturally curly hair and stumbled upon this one at target.

Loved the price point and the scent so I bought it not expecting much. I was thoroughly impressed with how well it cleansed my scalp, which always gets a lot of buildup. It’s clarifying so it does leave the squeaky clean feeling but it doesn’t feel drying.

I’ve been using once a week or every 2 weeks for the last few months and my hair loves it. Will definitely repurchase and keep this as a staple in my routine.

I have been using this product for around a month now, with 1-2 washes per week, and I’ve really enjoyed it. For reference I would consider my hair to be wavy with some curls here and there. This was also my first time trying a shampoo for curly/wavy hair so unfortunately I can’t compare it to others.

The first time I used this my scalp did feel a bit strange, but after that first wash I didn’t experience that feeling again, so I think it was because I was so used to using cheap sulfate shampoos. Since using this shampoo I don’t think I would go back to sulfate shampoos (except for a clarifying wash every month), it truly does make you hair feel nourished.

Plus, even though the formula feels creamy, it doesn’t feel heavy, it didn’t weigh down my hair, and it left it all clean, so I would highly suggest it for wavy hair. I have noticed a nice difference in my hair too, it feels more hydrated and I’ve been getting more waves and curls.

What I do recommend if you get this product is that you don’t pour too much in your hand. Instead, really work the shampoo in, as a little seems to go a long way for my shoulder length hair. Also it has a nice smell, sort of tropical.

Absolute best shampoo I have ever tried. I usually have kind of an itchy scalp. It feels like there’s build up on it as well because my skin isn’t very oily. I usually do oil treatments to help treat my dry scalp, but this amazing shampoo has helped me completely skip this.

It’s the best shampoo because it’s the only shampoo I’ve tried that cleanses but is actually moisturizing too. I like that it has natural ingredients because it doesnt add to the build up feeling and cleanses.

I also like that you can use a lot of it without drying your hair if you really want to massage your scalp and cleanse it. I’ve turned my boyfriend onto it as well even tho his hair is super oily. It’s honestly the only thing that has helped my scalp and cured it.

I have low porosity, dry hair that’s kinda medium-coarse & medium thick, curl pattern that’s hard to identify, kinda 2c with some 3a I guess, but it really varies all over my head?, but getting quite long, so it’s hard to balance actually cleaning my scalp without parching my ends.

My co-wash was fine, but shampooing was usually annoying bc I knew my hair would take a hit. But this one really does it! Was nervous at first bc of how much it lathered (that’s usually a bad sign), but was pleasantly surprised at how moisturizing it felt even while working it into my hair.

And after air drying, my curls are back! They’d started to lose their shape and look just wavy & fried & sad before this. Of course, this doesn’t provide enough slip to detangle, but I usually do that after washing anyway with a couple rounds of conditioning.

The scent is nice & mild, a little floral and fruity.

I love this overnight mask, use it generously in your hair from the root to the tip and cover in a shower cap and leave it on overnight. Your hair will be soft, shiny, and manageable by the morning. It also makes detangling so much easier.

This hair treatment has conditioning aloe and Jamaican black castor / vitamin infused I used this treatment and left it on my hair for 7 hours at home while wearing a shower cap 😉 I’m quite happy with the result leaves my hair so soft and smells good.

Leave your hair feeling soft. It does what it says it can do. It doesn’t take long either, but you need to keep using it and use it consistently

I was a little worried about trying this out, as I have been looking for the right hair-care combination for a while now and didn’t want another failure, but I have been a happy customer. I have fairly thick wavy hair/loose curls.

For most of my life, I have used average non-curly hair products. In the past few years though, my hair has gotten curlier, and I have become more and more frustrated with how poofy and undefined it can get, particularly in the summertime.

Almost a year ago, I began using SheaMoisture curl-enhancing smoothie. It brings out my waves/curls beautifully on wash night/the following day, but after day one, they are often frizzy & flattened. I can’t, and wouldn’t, say this would be the same for people with tighter curls/coils, it has just been my experience.

Upon finishing out the bottle of my last conditioner, I decided it was time to find one specific for curly hair. While I have only used it a few times, this Curl & Shine Conditioner has been wonderful so far.

A few weeks ago, I tried implementing other new curly hair products into my routine, and while they have been okay, nothing has compared to this conditioner. My hair feels smoother, bouncier, and the curls last nicely at least two days now.

FRIZZY HAIR LADIES LISTEN UP! I have thick blonde, dry, frizzy hair and, until now, I have never been happy with my hair. I have tried a lot of brands that are known for frizz-fighting and moisturizing properties such, as Maui Moisture and Aussie which, both left me with oil build-up and dryer hair than what I started with.

After finding the curl and shine shampoo and conditioner duo, I have had no frizz, less oil build-up, and shiny, healthy hair. This shampoo is great for us girls with wavy hair that need something super moisturizing and light enough not to weigh down our hair.

The shampoo is also so gentle. After using it, I don’t feel as though my hair is stripped and beaten to hell. I have ditched all my heat tools because this shampoo allows me to air dry my hair, leaving it shiny and smooth with no flyaways! It was also pretty cheap! NEVER GOING BACK!.

I have always struggled with finding the perfect conditioner for my curly hair. Ive used Shea Moister before in the past.  I have not used this specific conditioner until today. I have got to say that I absolutely love this product.

I received it in my VoxBox and I’m so grateful I got to try it out. I received the 16 FL OZ bottle, which means this will last me for a while. The texture of the conditioner is a little chunky when applying to your hair.

The smell is just amazing. After washing out my hair I noticed how incredibly soft and moisturized it was. I have really bad breakage and dead ends, and this smoothed them out.  I will definitely purchase this conditioner after I run out.

This stuff is MAGIC. I was so skeptical to buy anything online but I could not be happier and I swear this is a real review! I never had dandruff or buildup before I started wearing extensions and since I started wearing them I consistently would have buildup and flakes and it was AWFUL and just getting worse and worse even though I wash once or twice a week (definitely don’t want to do more with extensions).

I always wanted to make sure I was putting things in my hair that wouldn’t damage them and I find this. Now girls I used this ONE time and after showering and using this, the horrific buildup and white flakes and grossness is GONE.

I repeat, GONE. It definitely smells like apple cider vinegar and it’s not the greatest scent and I went to town scrubbing my head with it, then used my normal shampoo and conditioner after and there was no leftover smell at the end of my shower.

I made sure to rinse VERY thoroughly after it and after my shampoo and conditioner. It made my head feel clean and clear and even scratching my head, there is no residue or flaking or anything. Please please do yourself a favor and get this if you’re having scalp trouble with extensions.

I wish I had known about this so long ago, it is a game changer. I am a total believer and will DEFINITELY be purchasing again. I think it is a must-have to keep your scalp healthy and clean with extensions in your hair.

Rarely leave bad reviews but do not like this at all. I bought it to make my hair feel cleaner/clarified and because of hard water. My hair honestly feels worse than ever after one wash with this (and use of their leave in conditioner).

It is oily and dirty feeling. Also don’t like the application. it barely comes out of the tip. Returning promptly after one use but this did not work for me.

They have sulfates and parabens which dries out your hair faster which leads to frizz and breakage. You can see why these products should be avoided for those with textured hair because are hair dries out faster than straight hair.

For reference I have 3a/3b low porosity curls. I’ve used the Kinky Curly Knot Today since 2014, and it was always my favorite product. Sadly my favorite shampoo and conditioner had a change in their formula, and I was in search of a new product.

I wanted to try the Come Clean, the Knot today, and the Curling custard as a system. The shampoo is clear which is sign to be clarifying. So it’s not shocking that it left my hair feeling squeaky clean but it also caused a lot of tangles, and an insane amount of frizz in the shower.

Overall, it did not work for my hair. On the bottle it states to be safe for everyday use and I personally disagree. However, the ingredients are great and the smell and price are good. As a clarifying shampoo this is good but not an every wash day shampoo.

I needed this shampoo because when I got braids over the summer, I put products on top of products which led to more buildup than you could imagine. This is a clarifying shampoo and I heard it can be harsh on dry hair but still needed it.

I used it but washed in twists along with reverse washing and shampooed twice. That wasn’t the smartest idea, I shouldn’t have reversed wash/pre poo, and shouldn’t have washed in twists. It should’ve been in sections.

Because I did that, I still had a bit of buildup but I definitely saw a difference so ut does work and I don’t know if it was harsh on my hair when I deep conditioned with heat after. The lather is nice, just in the middle and does remove dirt and build up.

And the smell is so natural, definitely not too much to someone who’s sensitive.

i never write reviews for anything but holy cow this quite literally saved my hair. for reference i have a mix of 2b, 2c, and 3a hair due to years of coloring and heat damage. i have quite a bit of hair and it’s thick, low porosity, and protein sensitive.

no matter what “hydrating” products i’ve used my hair has always felt dry and never absorbed anything i put in it. i got my colored red hair retouched recently and not quite sure what my stylist used to treat my hair this time around but it came out sooo dry and brittle.

after some research and finding out more about my hair type i decided to try this plus the conditioner that goes with it. and wow is all i have to say. i’ve never had hair this soft straight out the shower and it’s so easy to comb through now.

curls i thought were lost forever returned. i’m also noticing less hair fallout probably from my hair not being so tangled anymore. this shampoo cleanses really well without stripping my hair and it just overall transformed the look and feel of my hair.

10/10 recommend if you have a similar hair type.

I recently came across an article about hair porosity, which I’d never heard of, and discovered that I have low porosity hair. All my life, I’d been using the wrong type of products on my hair. I did a lot of research and this product always came up in the discussion.

So, the shampoo and leave in hoping it would do something for my dry gummy feeling hair. Oh. My. Goodness. My hair has never felt better! I’ve tried other products since discovering ya’ll, but I always have to rewash with your products.

Please don’t discontinue. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to moisturize my scalp without making my hair oily.

I’m giving this product three stars only because of it’s good scent and the cleaning sensation it gives. However, four days after shampooing my hair, which I do once a week, I suddenly got a bunch of product buildup, without using any products except my shampoo and conditioner.

Last week, I washed my hair expecting no itching because all the buildup was taken off, but as soon as I got out the shower, my head started flaking sooner than usual. This doesn’t happen with sheamoisture’s other shampoo, the curl glam one, which removes my buildup of dirt and oil way better than this one did.

Still, it could work for others, as you could see in the other reviews, but if you have low porosity hair with a dry scalp, it won’t work as well.

Shampoos are traditionally meant to be a relatively quick step in the hair care routine. Wet hair, suds up, rinse out, done. Finding a shampoo that does anything significant in that amount of time is pretty uncommon, in my experience.

This shampoo was different. I honestly did only use it twice, over the span of two weeks, and where as I can say I noticed a semi long term change in my hair- the immediate difference was definitely there.

I have really thick hair that I straighten after every shower, and therefore can get pretty dry. In the maybe 60 seconds it took me to apply the shampoo and rinse it out? My hair already felt significantly more nourished.

I had less flyaways, and individual strands of hair seemed to be significantly more resistant to breakage. I did use this with the matching hair mask, which was just okay, along with a leave in conditioner from another brand.

I’d prefer there to be either a more fruity or floral smell versus the earthy/nutty smell it currently has, but otherwise? I was really impressed with the immediate improvement I felt in my hair after washing out.

I added a before and after pic so everyone could see how dry and brittle my hair was before I shampooed and used the conditioner mask. I can already tell this is going to be apart of my holy grail hair care after just 2 uses.

It made my hair so much more manageable and sealed in moisture. Usually after I blow dry I lose so much hair in that process due to it being dry, but not today. The ends of my hair feel so good to the touch which is something I’m not use to.

This shampoo smells wonderful and lathers up easy. You don’t need much to get the scalp and hair clean. I usually always still have some flakes even after I shampoo a few times, but after using this I haven’t spotted any flakes when brushing my hair.

Deeply nourishing and moisturizing for my daughters thick, damaged and dry hair. She reports that she enjoyed the scent and how it lathered nicely and left her hair soft and manageable without drying it or causing more damage.

This is especially formulated for curly and coily hair but worked so well she requested the matching masque/conditioner. It is full of super foods and other good stuff like, baobab, aloe vera and oils like mongongo and jojoba.

No sulfates, parabens or phalates. It is cruelty free and I have enjoyed other Shea Mountain products for years.

This conditioner is formulated without chlorides in the top half of the product list which makes it a very mild formulation for people who’s hair has a damaged keratine layer by using the wrong type of products or naturally high porous hair.

If you have such hair try to avoid products with Behentrimoium Chloride or Centrimonium Chloride in the TOP half of the INCI. In the lower half is SAFE then the added percentage of the chloride won’t damage the cuticle.

Chlorides are safe ingredients but in the top half of a product they are ment to open up the cuticle to allow product penetration. High porous or damaged hair doesn’t need that. This product is very mildly formulated.

It is a nourishing conditioner that is very rich in high quality oils. Personally I have fine hair (thin strands, low density) I only need a pea size amount of this product, if you have thicker strands or more density you can use more but start with the pea size to build up evenly.

I also use this conditioner to refresh. I’ve come to find my fine hair strands hate all that water refreshing from the CG method because pure water causes to swell the strands and damages the cuticles from inside out.

Instead of fully wetting my hair I take a tiny bit of a safe conditioner like this one and work that through the hair. The first ingredient of any conditioner is always water and that is enough for my strands to feel moisturized again.

I’ve used high-end shampoos and conditioners for 15 years. Theres a clear difference in quality, results and hair health. My scalp has had so many reactions in the last 6 months, I’ve found out I’m allergic to a common preservative (uncommon allergy) and finding any shampoo high end or otherwise has been pretty difficult.

I tried this product and had never used any Shea Moisture products before (I have fine, natural and unnaturally blonde, mostly straight, dry and tangles hair) from what I’d known about the brand I just believed it was not for someone with my hair type and it is drug store so I expected less.

I was wrong. This shampoo has helped my scalp heal, my scalp will still be very oily but it isn’t as bad as it was and it lathers so well. I had doubts since it was so watery but I just squeeze from the bottle straight onto my hair.

This doesn’t strip my hair, the adjustment to silicone free has been difficult but not as difficult as I expected. My hair is moisturized but not weighed down, my scalp is clean but not dry or itchy.

The scent is great too. I used to hate washing my hair and was considering chopping off all of my beautiful long hair to avoid the tangles but now I feel like I can continue to grow it. I know its silly but I was being told by hair stylists that my hair is healthy but the amount it tangled had me in tears just trying to find a solution to smoothing it out without ending up with a greasy mess.

I finally feel some hope, my hair isn’t perfect but its a solid 75% better because of this shampoo.

I have 2A/2B wavy, medium porosity, thick shoulder length hair. I have been looking for a shampoo that both makes my hair feel clean after a hospital shift, and keeps my waves fluffy and smooth. This shampoo checks all the boxes and more.

It smells clean and the smell lasts out of the shower. It does get foamy, which I like, but I do have to use a good amount for both my upper and lower layers. But for this price, I don’t mind using a lot of product at once.

Make sure to use your fingers to scrub this into your scalp, for the best effect. I wouldn’t use this alone, as I can feel it leaves my hair tangled, after it has washed out. Definitely use this with their Leave-In Conditioner, for the best results (I use it as a regular wash-out conditioner as well).

I use these two products with their Morning After Foam as well, and get lots of compliments on my big wavy hair :).

This is everything that a shampoo should be. My first impression of the smell was that it just smells clean- it smells like what soap should smell like. Other than that, I can’t really explain it. I used it once so far, so I’m not quite a pro with it and I don’t really know the best way to use it for myself.

I used a kinda big glob at first and it was kinda hard to lather, but it could have been my mistake because my previous shampoo was very easy to lather. So then I got my hair wetter and got another glob the same size and put it on the back of my head underneath my hair and it worked better, but then I had to put another big glob straight onto the top of my head.

It didn’t really work for me when I rubbed it in my hands and then applied it. When I did get a lather out of it, it was so creamy and rich and just. nice. My hair is so shiny and soft and very smooth, and this is the first day I haven’t had dandruff in probably 5 years.

I looked close up at my scalp and there’s no buildup. This definitely is a game changer for me, and I’m gonna be using this for a very long time.

I use other MC products and they do well by me. I tried the MC shampoo and have to say it really cleans deeply. I don’t shampoo too often, but when I have a lot of product build-up I like to get a good deep shampoo and this worked.

I would say it is a “clarifying shampoo”. Smells good. For value, I will say 4 stars instead of 5 only because you can get cheaper shampoos around. My problem with the super cheap stuff is I wonder where it comes from and what is in it.

Seriously, how can a 1L shampoo cost 6 dollars?! Absolutely zero chance of someone making that without bad working conditions. I will pay for the quality. MC is worth it in a fair way.

This is a great product! I was very surprise when the company change the product and I couldn’t find the original. This product have helped my hair tremendously! I got my items fast and everything was secure.

This has been around for ages. If you color often because your color is fading too quickly on you then this is a must have. There is also a treatment you can get to put on immediately after you color to seal the cuticle of your hair.

This will not only keep hair color longer but help with strength and breakage concerns.

I used this conditioner today mixed in with my regular deep conditioner (silicon mix) and it was amazing. i still cant get over how smooth my hair has become. Earlier in the week my hair was extremely dry and trust me i used everything but once i put this in my deep conditioner, life was great.

I am going to be using it every week for the next month and afterwards, once a month.

I’m so sad and frustrated at same time. I star my natural journey about a year ago, and we all know how hard it this to find a product that works. I friend introduce me to Millie and it does wonder in her hair.

I was so excited when I got the collection. I expected the same wonder other people are talking about. Boy oh boy I was wrong. I almost had to chop my all hair. My hair become this locs after the shampoo.

Then I use the conditioner to see if it will detangle it, it got worse. My whole family had to come to the rescue. It was soooooooo mad. I don’t know why but it just didn’t work for me. I bough the leave conditioner and butter cream but I’m terrified to use and have to go over that trauma again.

I wish I can upload the video of how bad it was. I lost so much hair that day. Im not saying that they are bad products but they are not for my hair for sure.

I found out about this product line from a celebrity. I also heard her say that the products make your hair feel like “butter”. There is much truth to this statement. Shampoo makes your hair feel like you arent even washing it.

Conditioner has your hair feeling smooth and less dry. The overnight conditioner is the life. You can run your fingers through so smoothly when it’s being washed out and shampooed the next day. The overall products are great.

I even bought the styling gel which I havent used yet. I currently use Aunt Jackie’s “dont shrink” curling gel. I’m sure this product treats your curls the same, if not better. I also bought the scalp treatment, which I cant wait to use on my dry scalp.

Try using some of the other flavors. They do wonders as well.

The Moisture RX Hawaiian Ginger Moisturizing and Anti Breakage shampoo has helped my hair improved itself. I feel a tingling sensation in my hear when using. My hair lathers quickly, because it cleans my hair quickly.

The scent of the shampoo smells great. It does a much better job than those shampoos on the store shelves. I’m going to keep buying this shampoo. It’s great.

I don’t believe in perfect/miraculous product, there are a lot of gimmicky products out there that target our insecurities. But Shea Moisture’s daily hydration line (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in) is the best life line of products I have used in ages! I have tried Pantene, L’Oreal, Garnier, and more expensive shampoos like Redken and Function of Beauty.

They didn’t do anything for my hair that was dry. My Indian hair is slightly wavy and sometimes straight depending on what I use as well as the environmental factors (moisture, humidity, etc. ). There were stressful changes in my life, and along with a lot of other factors my hair started to change its texture.

My strands were drying up and they just didn’t look the same and luscious when I styled my hair. The wave patterns sometimes would seem more crinkled. I’d say it’s medium thickness. I don’t seek volumizing products, because they further dry up the hair.

I have short hair. I also have a bit of a sensitive scalp. And products made for scalps can also dry up the hair. I randomly picked up the travel size version of this shampoo. At first, I didn’t know what to think of it.

On later uses, I tried using a little more shampoo than before, I think that’s the trick. Usually, other shampoos are full of lathering agents such as sulfates (I don’t think it’s a bad thing), but this shampoo is more gentle, so more is needed for my hair to get it clean.

I usually don’t like gentle shampoos, because they can tangle up my hair. But this Shea Hydration shampoo was absolutely wonderful. It genuinely brought back the lusciousness in my hair that I was missing for months! I am not always a fan of the tropical/coconuty smell, but this scent is bearable.

It kind of smells like fresh coconut milk, not the stronger coconut oil smell. So it’s okay. I’d prefer the scent to be reduced, but honestly it doesn’t bother me as absolutely love how nourishing this product is.

I must say that while the shampoo & conditioner’s scent is all right, the leave-in conditioner is definitely way more scented, and it needs to be toned down. My ultimate opinion: PLEASE don’t change the formula of this shampoo like every other brand has been doing.

This is a gorgeous hair product, and works amazingly for ethnically diverse hair types. Such products are really hard to find. Please keep creating beautiful products. I’m thoroughly impressed!.

I just finished using my first bottle of Core Strength Shampoo and ordered my second one a few days ago. I ordered my first 12 oz bottle in December 2021 and had to reorder last week, in the first week of March 2022.

I wash my hair 2-3 times a week, avoiding the ends of my hair and just washing the top/scalp. For me, a little goes a long way when you really rub it in with your fingers and re-wet your hair as necessary.

It lathers okay. Certainly not as much as a traditional shampoo but more than other curly hair shampoos I’ve used in the past. The trick is to really just scrub with your fingers and that helps distribute the product around on your scalp better.

I didn’t find the smell overpowering at all; to me, the smell is very nice. It is a lot thicker than other shampoos I’ve used and it’s therefore really hard to get out of the squeeze bottle, so I normally just twist the cap off and pour it out that way without bothering with the tiny hole on the cap.

Sometimes I ran out of the (non-Curlsmith) conditioner I follow up with and I would have to just use the shampoo and. those days weren’t great hair days. The shampoo is a little drying on its own and definitely doesn’t do much to help with tangles.

Prepare to follow up with conditioner always and possibly bring a detangling comb into the shower. Overall, I really like this shampoo. I think I’ve finally perfected my curly hair routine – my hair is soft, shiny, and healthy-looking.

Do I think it’s all thanks to this shampoo alone? Nah. But it helps and I plan on repurchasing once my second bottle is empty, too. :).

I knew nothing about hair porosity and good hair health. I’ve tried multiple drugstore shampoos and they always left my hair feeling dry. I use black box at home and have been for many years so that contributed to the hair dryness and damage.

I oil my hair twice a week but my hair was still dry when I washed it. Recently my hair has been falling out a lot when touching, it a lot would fall out. I came across curlsmith on ASOS and then went on to the curlsmith website and saw they did more products.

I’ve read reviews on how people don’t like the smell- (personally it smells nice. ) and people mentioned getting the shampoo out of the bottle was a struggle- I’ve never had any issues I absolutely love this shampoo so much that I got 2 bottles along with the multi tasking conditioner (it’s amazing!) Both products have saved my hair from falling out so much and being dry.

It is a bit on the pricey side, but I really recommend it. No other shampoo in my opinion compares to this. It lathers really well and just leaves my hair so soft and I’ve noticed my hair doesn’t fall out as much as it did before The shampoo leaves my hair feeling so clean and when I rinse it out, I apply the multi tasking conditioner to my ends.

When I fry my hair. It isn’t as frizzy as it used to be. I’ve got a good system going so I’m hoping I continue to love it. I wish this was sponsored but it’s not. I absolutely love this shampoo!.

So beginning with the smell, it’s very pleasant and fruity, Iand moderately strong. The packaging is. not so great as other reviewers say, so I just take the top off and put it back on when I’m done, no biggie really.

I have 3a-4a hair that’s moderate porosity, I always detangle my hair prior to shampoo and was in sections, it does tangle your hair back up, even if I focus on the scalp while hold the length of the hair, and pulling the shampoo down the strands, it still tangle lol.

As far as the product in my hair, it feels rich and slightly moisturizing; as far as leather, this product doesn’t lather in your hands, but it does moderately in soaked hair on the first wash (I wash every 2-3 weeks, so I expect to need two washes), on the second wash it lathers really nicely after getting rid of most of the product build up and my curls.

are. popping after rinsing! love it. My hair is left feeling clean, and moderately stripped of it’s moisture (definitely need a moisturizing conditioner/deep conditioner to follow up) and oddly soft.

I have sensitive skin but have had no reactions to this product and no increase in hair shedding.

Overall this is a great conditioner for curly hair, but it has one major downside: silicones. When I first started my curly hair journey, I didn’t really worry about sulfates or silicones and just tried products that were well rated.

This was one of them and I have to say, I really like it. It moisturizes my hair well without weighing it down. I have thin, baby fine hair so it gets weighed down easily. But it’s also low porosity and naturally dry.

This conditioner helped. However, as I continue on my curly hair journey I started reading more and more about silicones and sulfates so stopped using any products with them in it, including this. And I have to say, my hair is a lot healthier and happier.

Funny enough it’s also gotten quite a bit curlier, and quickly too – within a week of taking out those ingredients. So I’m torn. It’s a great conditioner that I really liked, but my hair is healthier now that I’ve switched out all my products.

I may try it again in the future but not use other products with silicones to see how my hair does. If you know your hair is ok with silicones, I would definitely try this.

I am no stranger to sulfate free shampoos but none of the products I’ve tried in the past have worked as well as the Curl Moisturizing Shampoo. Even though the shampoo is sulfate free, it lathers up nicely and deeply cleanses without stripping my hair.

I usually alternate between a deeply moisturizing shampoo and a shampoo specifically designed for curly hair but Curl Moisturizing Shampoo meets all of my hair’s needs. I’ve been using the shampoo together with the conditioner from the same line and my hair has never looked better! Ive always struggled with dry ends and knots.

Since using this line, I’ve had no issues with tangles or knots whatsoever. My curls are also more defined and hold their shape longer than before. I love how healthy and shiny my hair looks! [Gifted by Bumble & Bumble in exchange for my honest review].

This product works as step one of my product routine. Does it give the best coverage or moisturizing power? No, but remember it is designed to also be a co-wash. You can tell by the slight astringency and bubbles post-rinse that it has mild cleansing action.

You do need a fair amount to coat the hair enough to brush detangle, but it wins best all-around for curls. It smells amazing, and gives good curl definition, shine and frizz control. I wash it out, then use Alba cocoa butter as a scalp moisturizer/leave-in, and finish with a humidity hold gel, and get a beautiful cast that lasts about a week.

I did prefer the previous formulation when it was called custom conditioner, (I think they were cutting costs with the change), as you didn’t need to use as much, but still like it enough to keep using.
