20 Best Shampoo And Conditioners For Damaged Hair (2023 Updated)

I have very curly, fine, and dry hair. I also have a sensitive, flakey and itchy scalp. I only used this product a few times but each time it felt like I was getting an intense deep cleaning. My scalp felt tight and very dry after a day.

I don’t use too much styling products and I don’t heat style. I think it did so so for curl definition and my hair frizz issues. I currently have hair loss issues due to imbalanced hormones, but this didn’t make my hair loss issues worse.

As in it didn’t cause hair to fall out while I’m in the shower. Thankfully. It offers a great lather and my hair felt soft and somewhat hydrated after using this product. I used a deep conditioning mask from another brand and the the pattern conditioner with this shampoo.

I felt like I needed more steps or other products in my routine because of how dry my scalp and hair felt. This shampoo just fell short of my expectations. I’m doing a circuit of all the Sephora shampoos until I find what’s for me but I won’t be buying this again.

I won’t be recommending it because it didn’t work out for me personally. Good product. Just not for me.

I’m bi-racial with thick naturally curly hair and have tried a lot of different brands but would get the same disappointing result, dried out and feels like straw. I looked at this while shopping at Ulta and a sales person was next to me and told me that it works well for my 3B hair.

The sales person had tight curly hair. Since I work hard for my money I didn’t want to get a big one right away so I got a trial size to try to see how this works. I need it to be moisturizing and not too much or it will make my hair greasy.

When I tried it over the weekend, I could easily slip my fingers though my hair easily so I can get it everywhere. I wish I had something like this years ago. I use this and the medium conditioner and leave-in.

I know these products are generally meant for more coarse and beautifully curly hair, but I got the leave-in conditioner as a sample and fell in love with the scent. literally want everything in that patchouli-rose scent.

I decided to try out this shampoo (which also smells great) and the light conditioner, since I just have slightly wavy, thinner hair with a little damage from occasional bleaching. Man, my scalp is so finicky with weather changes and gets flaky and freaks out at the slightest change, but this shampoo/conditioner combo really helps with that.

I started trying to use up other shampoos and conditioners that I have before I re-purchase these and my scalp went right back to having a tantrum. Definitely worth a try! Seriously, though. the smell is 10/10.

The shampoo smelled quite strongly of ginseng when it came out of the bottle, but does go over to a lovely rose scent that’s very typical of most Asian salon-grade shampoos (generic smell). It lathers very well and immediately soothes any itchiness or tingling when it comes into contact with the scalp.

That effect does not last sadly, and any irritation that I had before using this hasn’t improved. The scent does linger on your hair, actually overpowering any other products you might use. This is either a good thing (in case you’re simultaneously using products that don’t have a desirable smell) or a bad thing (in case you prefer other products’ scents).

The conditioner makes your hair very silky and the fragrance lasts for a few days. It is not as overpowering as the shampoo but is a lighter, complementary scent. I didn’t feel any more moisture than usual, or repairing effects for that matter.

The ends of my hair still get dry despite my scalp being problematic and oily, so the conditioner has not improved the ends of my hair. I did buy this to try and curb hair loss – which the products have not done despite using it exclusively for more than a month.

I know that visible results take time, but it shouldn’t take this long. After I finish this shampoo/conditioner combo, I will not be buying more since the products do not deliver the results I was hoping for.

However, the scent is delightful and the overall products feel luxurious. So if you’re looking for a nice scented shampoo and conditioner combo – this is the one for you.

This shampoo has done wonders on my hair. it’s so soft and shiny, I can easily run my fingers through it. At first, I found the smell of the shampoo to be very earthy, but it doesn’t bother me and I don’t notice it / it goes away.

The conditioner smells and feels so amazing and nourishing for my hair, I won’t be going back too cheap hair-care. The shampoo doesn’t lather as much as my previous shampoos (but that’s not a bad thing, the lather of a shampoo has no actual correlation to how well it cleans, but I do like a good lather as it feels reassuring that my hair is being cleaned.

After a long hiatus I started using this shampoo again. Due to medical procedures and medications my hair got “fried”. I’ve tried almost a dozen “high-end and very high-end” shampoos, none of them gave my hair the moisture it needed (and was shocked to discover one of them actually had alcohol in it–my fault for not reading the ingredients first.

I just assumed at that price it had to be good). This shampoo actually hydrates my hair. My hair feels soft, silky and shiny again after only 3 weeks of use. It doesn’t strip my hair and leave it feeling like straw and unmanageable.

It rinses out easily without leaving soapy residue in your hair. I also bought the L’Occitane intensive repair conditioner and mask to use with this. These products gave me my pre-surgery hair back again.

This shampoo has the most beautiful soft calming herbal smell, not overpowering but makes it a joy to use. (I’d love an eau de parfum in this scent). I highly recommend this if you have dry hair.

If you have been using L’occitane’s intensive repair shampoo for a while now and loved it, DO NOT BUY THIS. it’s a new formula and it’s terrible. 1) my hair is nowhere near as smooth and skilky as it used to be.

I used to love this because I could just get just get by with shampoo and not need conditioner. Now my hair is rough and frizzy after using this. I even cut my hair thinking maybe I have too many split ends; but no, that didn’t help.

I have never heard of the Sukin brand before but as I’m a sucker for all things Australian I was excited to try this product. Vegan and Carbon Neutral, the product has good environmental credentials and it’s a good sized bottle for the price.

The fragrance is Native Deep River Mint and Apple Cider vinegar and the minty smell is lovely and refreshing – and “clean” smelling! I did find the product quite runny so had to be careful that too much didn’t come out of the bottle.

The first time I used the product I probably used too much as the runny consistency paired with the relatively low foam level meant the shampoo disappeared into my hair. The second time I used it I rubbed the shampoo between my hands before applying to my hair and this helped.

I think because the product doesn’t contain sodium laurel sulfate, it’s less bubbly than my usual shampoo. As a result of this it was hard to tell if I’d got my hair really clean or not – I’m going to use less shampoo gradually as I get used to less foam until I work out the optimum level! Overall I am pleased with the shampoo – my hair is very clean after using it and it smells lovely.

I would prefer it if it was a bit thicker and foamier but I think this may impact on the environmental credentials. I think we’re conditioned (excuse the pun!) to expect a head full of bubbles but it’s not essential! I would mainly recommend this for the gorgeous scent and the fact it’s organic and cruelty free at a reasonable price.

Hard water in my area left my hair brittle, dry and split. I’d tried so many products, but nothing was helping. I would run my fingers through it and it would snap. I read about how products with vinegar in can help, and found this product in Boots which, for such a large bottle, is at a great price.

I was a little worried it would dry out my hair as it’s primarily designed for oily hair and my hair was so brittle and dry, but I needn’t have worried. It cleansed gently without stripping my hair, and the results were unreal.

It left it incredibly silky, shiny and heavy. It hasn’t felt this good in years!! It also cleansed my scalp without drying it, and left some volume at the roots. The fact the ingredients are natural, with no silicones or nasties, is a massive plus too.

I found that conditioning first, then shampooing, is my favourite method with this, because you are left with all the benefits of the shampoo as a final wash.

I did not have high expectations when I purchased the Sukin leave in conditioner but it really surprised me when I first used it on dry hair. I shook the bottle first before using to make it easier to come out.

When I applied it to my hair dry it softened my hair and loosened my coils and made them fluffy. The scent is natural and not strong at all which is good for me. It does help with detangling too. I was able to finger detangle my hair with no issues.

One thing I’m so happy about it is that it did not leave any residue on my hair and it absorbed very quickly compared to other products I used in the past. My hair type is low porosity so hard to absorb product but this was not the case with the Sukin leave in conditioner.

I’m very pleased with the product as it does the same job as my other leave in conditioner which is more expensive. I’ll keep using this brand and will try the hydrating shampoo and conditioner too.

Hair feels dry like straw after use. The conditioner helps but not much. Do not have this problem when using ofter shampoos, such as the Blond Absou, for example. I was very disappointed and let the shampoo sit on a shelf.

When I called customer service to see if there is anything they can do they said no because it has been more than 30 days since purchase. They transferred me to somebody who was support to help pick the right product (for me to pay of course) but that person did not seem to be well informed and could not even pronounce the names of the products ….

Very disappointed from Kerastase. Did not expect this level of customer service considering the price of the products.

I was beyond thrilled when I found out Kerastase still exists. I used it many years ago in Germany and was so in love with it I would travel over an hour by train just to purchase the liter bottles. I used the Nutritive Bain Satin 2 and now I ordered the Bain Satin 1 because I don’t color or heat style my hair any longer.

I opened the bottle and immediately smelled the familiar scent I have so missed. I have waist length coarse thick hair and still only need to lather once with a quarter sized amount. I don’t even need a conditioner or serum, my hair feels, smells and looks healthy and shiny.

I’ll definitely be continuing with this shampoo, I have tried many high-end products but nothing measures up to Kerastase. The deep conditioner from the Nutritive line is also amazing!!! I’ll be ordering that for a once a week deep conditioning treatment.

I have curly naturally dry hair. It is also coloured and lately I have been swimming in the pool this summer quite frequently so my hair can get quite stripped and dry. This shampoo is so gentle on my hair and does not strip it from what little moisture it has.

It actually feels like it adds moisture whilst cleansing my hair at the same time. I’ve been using this shampoo for over ten years. Absolutely love it because it works for me.

My wife and I both really love / like (respectively) the Damage Remedy shampoo. It leaves hair feeling clean but not stripped, and “soft” and silky without feeling like it’s lacking in body. She has blonde hair and mine is very dark brown to almost black, and there’s some grey/white/silver in there too.

and this shampoo is great on both hair types. Impressive! So, why Four Stars? At some point, with the noticeable increase in price, one has to ask when does it not make sense, especially for a shampoo that isn’t meant to be ‘regular use’ unless one has hair that is in very sorry condition? I would recommend for sure, but now with a caution that it is a fairly expensive luxury.

This product doesn’t even deserve one star. I have dry curly hair, but it isn’t even color-treated or heat-processed. This damage remedy line turned my hair into a BIRD’S NEST. But not the cute twiggy nest, a nest made out of nothing but straw — to the point where the strands were literally breaking off.

I couldn’t even run my fingers through my hair after I just brushed it. As expensive as this line is, I feel like Aveda should have paid me for ruining my hair the way this product did. On top of that, I had to pay $16 to ship the shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatment and styler back because they don’t pay return shipping.

Never again. Spare your hair and try a different product.

The best conditioner I have tried and I have fine hair which was previously damaged with protein overload. After using the Redken All Soft Mega conditioner alongside the standard All Soft shampoo for four months, my hair is so healthy and glossy and in protein balance and moisture balance.

Prior to using this product, my hair used to knot and tangle so quickly and constantly broke off and I would have to spend ages detangling it. Now, I can always run my fingers through my hair with ease and my hair never, ever breaks.

My hair is in the best health now.

I ordered what I thought was a dark green. I was still waiting for it to be delivered, then checked and said it had been delivered. So I checked the bottle of light greyish that I didn’t remember ordering, and it says Berlin There Done That on the bottom.

So it’s not at all what the picture shows. It’s almost a taupe, grey, maybe a hint of green. It’s about 3 shades lighter than the picture. Will look good in the summer, when I wear lighter colors.

I received this shampoo in my Luxely subscription Box. It’s a good shampoo and leaves my hair feeling clean and full of life. Do I feel it’s better than other expensive name brand shampoos, no, but it is a great shampoo.

If you have been on the fence about giving this shampoo a try, I would go for it if I were you.

Purchased this on a whim. Pretty amazing results. I have fine, dry and wavy hair with oily roots and poofy dry ends. After using this shampoo, I can’t even believe how different my hair looks. It’s soft, manageable and shiny.

I recently put an Aquabliss shower filter in my shower and the results are magnified 10x, it’s such a good shampoo. Worth every penny. Other shampoos I’ve used for comparison: Davines Oi Shampoo, R+Co Television Perfect Hair Shampoo, Act+Acre Cold Pressed Hair Cleanse, Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo, Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo, Moroccanoil Volumizing Shampoo, Redken All Soft Shampoo, Prose, Function of Beauty, Aveda Botanical Repair, Livingproof Frizz Shampoo, Livingproof Perfect Hair Day, Kerastase Chronologiste, Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste.

Some of those shampoos definitely have their merits, however none have compared to Oribe in terms of manageability, shine, softness and keeping my hair feeling clean for way longer. It doesn’t strip my hair, and it’s the first shampoo I’ve used where I can actually pass a brush through my hair without a tangle.

The amount of money I’ve spent on shampoos, this one is actually worth the investment for your hair.

This review is for the Gold Lust shampoo and conditioner. I bought this product with my own money. I don’t get paid to write reviews, nor have I ever gotten free products to review. I loved this shampoo and conditioner, and I’ll write my thoughts below.

My hair is waist-length and wavy. There’s lots of it, with fine-medium strands. I have concerns with frizz and dryness at the ends. I look for a product that makes my hair smooth, shiny, soft, and moisturized.

The holy grail, of course! I’ve seen a couple reviews that say the shampoo feels clarifying/stripping, so when I used it, I tried to get a feel for whether that was the case. Personally, it was not stripping for me.

To the best of my knowledge, the surfactants in this shampoo are mild. I did notice that my hair feels somewhat squeaky clean after rinsing it out, but this isn’t necessarily a determinant of whether or not a shampoo is stripping.

I’ve used highly drying clarifying shampoos that didn’t make my hair feel squeaky clean after rinsing. The conditioner doesn’t seem *that* moisturizing on wet hair. It gives slip, but in the shower I didn’t get the sense that it was heavily moisturizing and I worried I feel for mere hype/prestige.

The key word is “seem” however, because it actually performs amazingly. RESULTS The results were fantastic though. After the first time using this, as my hair started drying, it had this wonderful smoothness and softness, and it felt supple—moisturized and with a nice “plumpness” and elasticity.

I cannot get over how soft this made my hair! My waves can sometimes like stringy and “matte”, this made my hair flow gorgeously, my waves were beautifully soft and defined, my hair was shiny and overall the best it has looked this entire year.

I wanted to use it again before writing a review. My hair is currently drying, and again it feels wonderful. Clean and healthy, with bounce, shine, and extreme softness. This may be the best haircare I’ve ever tried.

Before I share my thoughts on this product here is some background info: I have very fine thin hair that does not like to hold any kind of style for more than an hour. I typically use Pantene’s Sheer Volume Shampoo and conditioner for my hair and it has been doing the job.

Pantene has stopped making this exact kind and I have started trying different products to see what would work best for my hair. I received a sample size of this shampoo and conditioner with a big purchase of other hair care products.

It looks really pretty coming out and smells amazing. It lathers up very nicely as well. The whole time I was working it into my hair I couldn’t stop thinking of where I had smelled this before and then it hit me.

This shampoo and conditioner smells very similar to the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Italian Zest perfume which smells lemony and gives off a limoncello vibe which is a huge plus to me. Another pro of this shampoo and conditioner is that it is very light weight and doesn’t weigh down my hair which for someone like me is very important.

Both rinse off well and don’t seem to leave any behind in my hair. Brushing my hair out afterwards was nice and easy. I would probably use this again but not consistently.

Came in a set of both shampoo + conditioner, also incl. samples of mask and oil, I got for the price of the shampoo alone. I was amazed by the shampoo. Uplifting citrus scent, and not strong synthetic fragrance-y.

Left my scalp feeling cleansed but not dry, same for hair. I have waist length hair, so it’s hard to get a combo of clean scalp/moisturized ends/not weighed down flat volume. Since the shampoo left my hair moisturized I used it alone on the top half of my hair and the treatment mask or cond.

on the bottom half. I wash my hair every 2 to 3 days and can’t stand “dry shampoo”. I don’t use any other products aside from a little olaplex serum on my ends sometimes and a mask or scalp serum here or there, but nothing changed during this experience.

My hair started falling out so bad that I took pictures thinking that there’s lead in my water or I have a thyroid problem. I cut a few inches off and thinned it thinking maybe it was just getting so long that it was weighing itself down or getting to a different stage in large chunks.

Didn’t help. I started using the conditioner all over and making sure that I moisturized my scalp. Didn’t help. The conditioner also left my hair looking flat and not it’s usual shiny self (and yes I am fully aware conditioner leaves residue when not rinsed well, and I know my water and have tested hardness, etc.

). I started making sure that I brushed my hair well everyday thinking that maybe I wasn’t brushing out the strands that naturally fall over the days that I don’t wash my hair. Didn’t help. So, I’ve gone back to just the shampoo and a leave-in for my ends and conditioner that I know doesn’t cause me problems on the top.

It’s only been a few days so I can’t comment on the results yet but I will try my hardest to remember to come back and update the review. In the meantime, I felt I owed it to the community to report my experience.

Obviously this is one anecdotal experience with many confounding factors so I can’t say that this shampoo and/or conditioner definitively cause hair fall. Other than that, I absolutely love it. Let me start by saying I’ve always been a huge fan of Briogeo hair products, due to their superior quality and results. and this new Super Moisture Shampoo is nothing short of amazing. I’m very picky when it comes to my shampoo, as my hair can easily become overly dry & brittle.

I look for something hydrating, yet powerful enough to properly cleanse away any dirt and impurities. I already own and love their Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioner. so I knew when I saw this product it was gonna be amazing, and that is simply an understatement.

this is the most luxurious shampoo i’ve ever used. it’s expensive, but also a little goes a long way. the scent always makes me so happy, since i feel like i’m at a high end salon in my own shower. i cannot recommend this enough!! i’ve been using my bottle for over 6 months now, and it hasn’t run out yet.

definitely worth the price for that as well! furthermore, i never really considered myself as someone with hair issues. my hair has never been particularly dry or particularly oily, but after using this product a few times, i noticed a big change in my scalp; i no longer had dandruff, which was minimal & not really a problem to begin with, and the occasional pimple i would get on my head disappeared as well i wouldn’t say this shampoo is an instant miracle worker, but the quality is noticeable & its ability to improve your hair’s health is undeniable.

I had high expectations for this line of haircare by living proof and they sure delivered! This shampoo is amazing at clarifying and defrizzing my hair. I only use the shampoo on the top portion of my hair to prevent any drying of the my ends.

I noticed after using it my flyaways were significantly less frizzy. I have wavy color treated hair so my hair is extremely damaged and always frizzy right after the shower. Using this line has changed the game my hair looks like I just got it washed at the salon after the shower and blow drying.

If you want professional quality without the hefty price tag everytime this is a must!.

loved the scent of the shampoo. it has some citrus notes. my hair smells very nice after washing. i found this shampoo not lathering enough. it could be also due to mair being too greasy or oily. In the first wash the shampoo didnt foam up well at all.

So I tried to lather it one more time. It lathered a bit better, but still it doesnt give enough foam and my hair felt not washed properly. However, my hair didnt feel stripped or dry after rinsing the shampoo.

update after airdrying next day: my hair looks visibly smoother, softer and less frizzy.
