20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For Silver Hair (2023 Updated)

I’m letting my hair go gray and was advised by my salon owner daughter to get a “purple” shampoo to keep my hair looking silver and not yellowing. I bought this on sale along with the conditioner. I was astonished when both came out of their bottles in a deep intense purple blue.

The color is so dark that I was actually afraid it might stain the white bathtub or tiles or the white towel I wrap my hair in after. It hasn’t done that but I find I’m very uncomfortable with such a dark color.

Are all the shampoos made for gray and platinum blonde hair deep intense purple color? Other than that, it seems a nice shampoo and conditioner. I haven’t used it long enough to know if it’s going to prevent yellowing.

I guess I wasn’t expecting a purple shampoo to literally be the color purple. After I use this up I am going to try to find a shampoo that prevents yellowing in gray and platinum blonde hair that hopefully isn’t that kind of color.

After I had my hair colored blonde my stylist asked me how I got my hair so white and I told her I was using this. I still use this after it grew out because this keeps my gray hairs so white but the rest of my hair (brunette) much darker.

It will dry out the scalp so I highly recommend using a conditioner after every use. I only use this every 2-3 days to keep the brightness of the grays and tone the brassiness of the rest of my hair.

The coconut scent is very light and after the hair is dry it’s barely noticeable, if not at all.

This shampoo was too harsh for something formulated for bleached hair, especially at this price point. It basically feels like a clarifying shampoo- very stripping. I would use the (cheaper) Eva NYC shampoo instead tbh or just tone with a mask.

I also noticed that I needed more product than I do with other brands at a similar price point. For context: my hair is 2B, high porosity/bleached (roots are medium porosity), and fine but dense.

Love hate relationship with this shampoo. It works very well (im naturally super dark brown, now platinum silver blonde) but it is SO drying!! I recently got extensions and it dries then out so bad. If you do not have extensions then you will probably love this if you follow with a super hydrating deep conditioning mask.

I’ve purchased so many bottles of this over the years so I do love it, but recently switched to Matrix Biolage purple shampoo and have the same results without the dryness.

I’ve been bleaching my hairs for years and have tried countless brands of purple shampoo. I’ve been told by my hairdresser that sulfates strip toner and to avoid shampoos with that ingredient. I noticed this shampoo had sulfates but I went ahead and tried it anyway because of all the good reviews.

I’ve used it 3 times since my last bleach and tone, and my hair is A LOT more yellow than my appointment. I noticed after the first wash that my hair looked a little worse but I decided to try to keep using it and my toner literally vanished before my eyes.

I definitely recommend a shampoo without sulfates (Joico is one example). This shampoo also dries out your hair causing it to build up grease not even 24 hours after showering. Don’t recommend this shampoo at all.

I have grey hair with white highlights. The Silver Shine takes the ‘dirty’ look out of the hair and leaves it looking fresh. You don’t need to leave it in for long. Generally I find that with the next wash the effect looks best.

Does not seem to ‘grab’ the highlighted hair too much which can leave the colour looking uneven. Hair is incredible soft for the next week or so after using it. I only use it fortnightly, that seems to be enough to keep a nice icy look.

The Incredible Milk is perfect for my hair. Leaves it soft and silky after blow drying. Honestly, my hair looks great when I use good products like this.

This is simply the best silver shampoo that I have ever used. I have been using a different branded purple/ silver shampoo for the past 10 years but I will be purchasing the L’Oréal one from now on. I found that it made my hair lighter and removed more brassiness than other products which tend to stop working after a while.

I am still using this and still getting results. My hair still looks bright and just how I want it to look 2 months after dying it. Will definitely be purchasing this in the future. Thank you for the very generous sized sample bottle.

I have coloured Blond hair and i have been struggling with the brassy tones mostly towards the end. So, this is amazing shampoo for improving my brassy tones and also brightening my hair tone. It gives a natural shine after applying the shampoo.

My hair is clean and has a great shine. The fragrance is quite gentle and is not overpowering at all. The shampoo gave a good lather and for people getting scared looking at the purple colour. It does not make your hair purple but gives a shine and improves your brassy tones.

I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of this LOreal conditioner to try and use in conjunction with the Lipidium Absolut Repair Shampoo. As my hair is damaged, frizzy and wavy this conditioner was perfect for my hair.

It comes in a handy bottle with a flip lid and the size of the bottle is slighter smaller than the shampoo. The formula is concentrated and a small amount was enough for my shoulder length hair. I spread this conditioner evenly through my hair and have been leaving it in for about 5 minutes before I rinse it, although the instructions on the bottle dont specify how long to leave it in for before you rinse.

My hair is quite frizzy so I do feel that this creamy conditioner has definitely helped tame the frizzy. My hair feels smoother and looks better than before, and I dont need to use as much hair serum or oil.

nnI am very pleased with this conditioner and will repurchase this and the shampoo, as I think they are great to use during the harsh winter months. I recommend this conditioner to anyone with dry, damaged hair, as it does seem to repair some of the damage.

This is the perfect conditioner to pair with the shampoo counterpart. Its so nourishing yet no heavy on my fine hair which is exactly what my hair needs I think most people tend to associate LOreal haircare with supermarket shampoos and conditioners but this Professional Range really is a number of classes above what you can get in a supermarket and is still pretty affordable for salon haircare.

nnI use this conditioner on the midlengths to the ends of my hair not on the scalp because my hair can get quite oily and weighed down easily by conditioners. I only leave it in for at most 2 minutes before washing off and I find that this is ample time for the conditioner to work its magic to give me beautifully soft and shiny hair that isnt weighed down.

I find this conditioner offers enough hydration and smoothness to my hair that I dont need to go in with leave in conditioners or other products when drying my hair. I dont need to blow dry it or use styling products to achieve smooth hair which means healthier hair with less flyaways I find I can also extend the time between washes because my hair doesnt get as ratty as quickly as other conditioners which is a great result for me.

I also LOVE the packaging, because if gold shiny packaging doesnt make you feel luxe than what willnn.

LOral Professionnel Serie Expert Absolut Repair Lipidium Conditioner is absolutely amazing, it is quite possibly the best conditioner I have ever used. It comes in a 200 ml bottle with a flip top lid which is very easy to open and close, even with wet hands.

The product smells beautiful, and the product itself is creamy and thick looking , like a golden cream, just waiting to be applied to your hair. You apply the conditioner to just washed hair that has been squeezed of excess moisture.

I apply a little, gently comb it through, then just apply a little bit more, ensuring the ends are well covered. The product makes my hair feel soft, healthy and smooth almost straight away, but do it leave it on a few minutes, so that it can penetrate right through.

Rinse out, towel dry and then style how you normally would. nnAfter one use, my hair felt great. It looked healthier, the colour looked better, and gone was all my dryness that comes with blow drying, using rollers and using styling products.

I decided a few years ago to stop coloring my hair. Just let it go natural no more covering the gray. I have a mixture of color with the white, light gray and dark gray. I love the shiniest this puts in my hair and how bright it brings the white hair out.

I have people stop me all the time and ask me where I get my hair colored. So I am very happy with the results I get from this shampoo. It smells nice and I leave it in about 3 minutes without any purple tint.

I needed a shampoo that helps tone down henna treated hair and some silver growth through time to make it look less obvious. It didn’t strip my hair of color but also cleaned the hair. My hair smells clean and feels light & fluffy for which I add a lightweight serum for some sheen & flyaways.

This was the first time I had ever tried anything from the Jhirmack brand and I was quite impressed with it. My dyed blonde hair was beginning to look a bit yellow and brassy and this was recommended to me by a good friend.

It’s used after shampooing, a bit like a conditioner except that you don’t need to leave it in to work, lather up then rinse, so easy and it leaves my hair looking and feeling soft and smooth without the brassiness.

I am a swimmer so I was interested in a product that would reduce chemical coloring on my hair that is beautifully turning white. Softly Silver literally makes your hair sparkle (who doesn’t love sparkle?) My hair is shiny and soft.

I do have to use a little extra conditioner to the ends because my hair is long and the conditioning component of softly silver doesn’t quite do it for the long snarls. All this and at a great price! You will love it.

I have damaged hair from bleaching and then coloring over it, and was not sure if this shampoo and conditioner set would be moisturizing enough for my hair. I have no worries after using it. It did not strip my hair or leave it crunchy.

It was soft, shiny, and behaved well under a brush after washing and conditioning. The scent is an agreeable-to me-floral perfume smell that reminds me of salon quality products. I felt luxurious using it.

I have fallen in love with this brand. I absolutely recommend this shampoo. I pair it with the intensive repair conditioner or the moisturizing conditioner (it just depends on the month) I found that using the purple shampoo AND the purple conditioner was a bit much for me so I just let the purple shampoo sit on my hair for 10 minutes in the shower, rinse and follow up with the conditioner.

This shampoo/ conditioner is really good! My hair has been processed (white) recently so in general my hair tries to frizz up. I had a little spot of yellow on a chunk of my ends; after the first use the shampoo/ conditioner cleaned it out.

First let me say in my teens I started to getting silver streaks in the front of my hair. People always commented they loved the highlight I had put in my hair, but I would inform them they were natural.

In my forties my hair became predominately gray and silver. Instead of fighting it I embarrassed it, but I began to notice some brassy and yellowing to some of my hair. So a few years ago I searched for shampoo intended for my hair color and came across the Jhirmack Silver Plus ageless shampoo.

I love it, the brassiness and yellowing completely gone, my hair is soft and full. Now my hair is predominately silver with darker gray highlights. Females of all ages give positive comments on my hair, a few even asking if they can touch it when I tell them I use Jhirmack for silver and graying hair.

Long silver, gray, white or a combination can be beautiful using the correct shampoo. Ladies it cost a lot less to embarrass your graying and silver or even white hair using the correct shampoo. I just wish they still carried Jhirmack in stores, thankfully I’m able to purchase online.

I originally discovered it at Big Lots and tried it on a whim. It worked perfectly! It has a very light/faint scent and simply smells plain and clean, which is great for those who are sensitive to smell.

Like most purple shampoos- this works very subtly, so do not expect to completely “tone” brassy hair in one wash. You will need to use often to keep brassy/ yellow tones down. I have a Level 8, lightened, dark blonde hair, and use this or sometimes other purple shampoos daily without issue.

Unless your hair is very light and also dry/ damaged, the purple could take very quickly. In that situation, you should use it less often. This brand is the MOST affordable purple shampoo on the market.

I purchase it at Big Lots, Wal-Mart, or Jewel (Albertson’s).

Great product for an inexpensive price. I had been using a competitor’s temporary hair shampoo which cost almost three times what JHIRMACK costs. I was pleasantly surprised to find JHIRMACK by coincidence and have been using it ever since.

The main noticed difference between the competitor’s and JHIRMACK is the consistency; i. e. , JHIRMACK is not as thick as the competitor’s but this difference is actually a plus. Why? Because the competitor’s thickness caused the product to “dry up” in the top dispenser and having to use something like a needle or pin to release the gooey type of build up in the dispensing spout.

While JHIRMACK’s fluidity is actually a plus because you don’t have the above-described bother. YET, JHIRMACK is as effective in giving a lovely, purplish tint to gray hair. I get compliments on the color of my hair all the time.

If you don’t wish the purplish tint, just use less of the product and you’ll get a nice shimmery gleam to your gray.

Purchased this shampoo at Sally Beauty. Both the shampoo and conditioner give me that perfect cool, ashy Blonde that I am looking for. This shampoo and conditioner has a nice fragrance to it. I love how this doesn’t tangle up the hair compared to other purple shampoos that I have used.

So I snagged this and the shampoo from the same line from my Ulta and figured it is worth experimenting with in my curly hair routine. The scent is not very memorable, but I do apply some while in the shower when my hair is drenched rather than when it’s damp, this helps with the friz that I tend to get if I style my hair when its not sopping wet.

The consistency is that of a conditioner, albeit a little on the thicker side. You don’t need much, so about 2 quarter size mounds is what I use for my waist length hair. It seems to help with finger detangling as well.

It’s not necessarily a styling cream, more of a help with the moisture content you’re putting in your hair. Overall, my first few showers with it were pretty good. I attached a picture of my 70% dry hair to give an idea of my pattern.

I’m not sure if it’s CG friendly, but I don’t strictly follow that. My hair definitely lets me know if something is working or not. Definitely give it a try if you haven’t. I’m giving it 4 stars because I’m not entirely sure that price point has won me over, I get similar results with Innersense.

Bought this at my local hair salon as a recommended product for a 2 week period while I wait for my hair color appointment. I think the smell is absolutely disgusting and I personally will never buy it again after I’m out of this bottle.

This product is NOT meant for people with curly hair as I find it more drying than moisturizing which is funny because it’s supposed to be a moisturizing leave in conditioner. I don’t know if it’s just because I bought it in Canada or what but $28 for 178ml before taxes is an insane price as well.

I like this conditioner and I have been using it for sometime. The price for the two pack was very reasonable. My only issue was when was produced in Vancouver and another in another city in Canada. One came with a foil seal on top and the other did not.

Because of this, I I was concerned that possibly one was counterfeit, but after a lot of research online I realize they have two factories that produce this product. Both bottles are the actual product!.

Silverati is astonishingly good. I have short layered hair and am in the process of growing out my old dark brown color as I return to my natural hair, which appear to be salt and pepper. (perhaps a little more salt) The fade of my old hair color was really starting to have a brassy/orange tone, which was especially ugly against my natural grey.

I looked like a calico cat. I planned to start using Silverati once the dye is completely grown/cut out, but tried using high end purple, then blue, the blue/purple (blue mulva) shampoos/conditioners to knock down the brass/orange.

None of them helped, in fact I think they made it worse, but I also wasn’t thrilled with the tone of my grey after using them. As I last ditch effort, I opened the Silverati and after one shampoo/condition, I was floored.

Not only does my grey look great, it REALLY took out the brass/orange. I was also floored by how soft and moisturized my hair feels, unlike with purple/blue. I agree that the price is a bit hard to accept, and it is unfortunate that such as great product may not be accessible to many for that reason.

Granted, with short hair I don’t have to use a lot. but I do wash my hair nearly every day. Once I am back to my natural salt and pepper, I can probably alternate every other day with another shampoo conditioner.

but Silverati is a real find. Please do not discontinue!!.

First. it left my high lift hair dry after the first wash. However the more I used it the less dry my hair felt. 3-4 washes and my hair felt fine better than before so that’s a plus. I did have to use a lot to get a lather and it wasn’t rich & foamy but light & fluffy.

So there’s that. Unfortunately it did nothing for my yellow in my Guy Tang silver smoke color. If anyone is wondering this is not a toning or deposit system. BUT for my natural grey roots it didn’t brighten them a bit and they’re definitely shining thru my level 2 roots.

I’m returning because it did absolutely nothing for my yellow. Kinda pricey for what it does so I’m going back to the purple Pureology Strength Cure as it seems to cool down the brass in my hair so much better than this.

I’ll try another system from this brand this just didn’t work for me. Loved the scent and the brand has some killer items. This isn’t one of them. At least for me.

If you’re an artificial or natural blonde who wants a light blonde to platinum white hue, this is for you. I’m an artificial blonde and sometimes my hair doesn’t always come out platinum blonde after bleaching, but I’ve noticed that after using purple shampoo and following that up with Silverati my hair will be the closest to pale blonde or actual silver.

This is not a super hydrating formula so be wary, it did make my hair feel a little crunchy and gasping for moisture, so I always make sure to deep condition and hair mask when I use this shampoo. I would say this is not going to transform your hair in terms of feeling healthy and hydrated, but it does a great job in evening and brightening tone for those who are medium to light blonde in maintaining that light blonde or reaching a pale silver.

It really removes the remaining brassy yellow or violet hue from the hair bleaching process and lifts it to the palest blonde / or silver so it is effective just pricey and drying but worth it nonetheless.

This stuff is great when I don’t have the money for salon stuff. I once read to get rid of that nasty brass is always look for silver shampoos as opposed to the blonding shampoos with a more lilac colour.

It really depends on what shade of blonde you want to be. You should also use a silver conditioner however,I was always told by my idiot ex colorist I only needed blonde shampoo. Anyway that was yrs ago.

You also should tone once a week. the primer in the Provoke is more a leave in spray. I used to get this stuff called magic silver white. It’s a great toner. even used to pour it over my white pony for a show and he’d be glisteningly white even after rolling in black sand he’d just shake it off- yet it only lasts one wash.

This stuff is pretty cheap for how hard it works but try it. if you don’t like it send it on to me. It’s good to chop and change your products anyway so why not save your cash and try this. The worst shampoos are the supermarket brands which contain any type of sulphur,but I know you all know this.

The whole provoke touch of silver range is free of any sulphates. I don’t wash with it more than twice a week as you may start getting a tinge of purple, but there’s always the less intense toning shampoos from touch of silver.

Thanks for being so patient if you got this far but I truly believe this product is quite amazing and deserves the time and patience so do some reading and research if you’re new to platinum or simply want that new pair of Guccis for summer that you may now possibly afford.

Used this twice. Both times my hair was left incredibly knotty and dry which isn’t usual for my hair. I often use cheap supermarket shampoo and this is awful in comparison. Ripped a lot of hair out when trying to brush it even when used in combination with the conditioner.

Do not recommend!.

Provoke touch of silver, is one of the worst purple shampoos I have ever used! Not only does it smell bad, the smell gave me a geadache and did not leave my hair. The shampoo itself is very drying, and left my hair knotty.

It also had no instructions on the back, and is quite diluted (not very purple). My bottle is still full!!.

I love this shampoo for my gray hair. It keeps it from looking yellow. Has a pleasing scent. You only need a small amount and it lathers up beautifully. My only complaint has to do with my delivery from Walmart.

The bottle leaked and got on another product in my order. So, the 4 stars is because of the botched delivery.

This product works miracles, I actually have nothing bad to say about it. A hair stylist that I met in California actually introduced me to this Color Wash because he absolutely hated dyeing his client’s hair silver, or grey because the color doesn’t last for long.

Well, I bought the bottle for about $40. 00, went to home, got in the shower, rinsed my hair with water and massaged the product into my hair thoroughly that way I don’t miss any strands! After I massaged it all through my hair, I could immediately see my hair already changing colors, so I wrapped my shower cap over my head for about five minutes while I’m washing my body and finishing up my shower.

After 5 minutes, I did take the regular shampoo from Gem Lites to rinse my hair out and condition because it’s recommended. I was very amazed at the silver color it left in my hair, at that time, my hair was already blonde, so it was definitely a lot easier to ensure a color would come out like that.

But, man, the product was definitely a financial saver for me because I did not have to return to the salon to get a touch up, instead I just did it all at home. I can only speak for the silver color because that’s the only color I’ve used, but the color does last as long as you maintain it.

If you would like a more intensified look, I suggest using the color wash 3 times a week until you find the right color, however, for me, I just had to use it once to get to the color I wanted, but again, it’s because I had blonde hair.

One last thing I thought I should mention was this product does not dry out your hair!!! Definitely worth the money.

This product has been great for blending my greys! I had some blonde baby lights done professionally and this shampoo colors over them leaving a nice soft silver. I have thick coarse hair and this shampoo leaves it soft and shiny.

The smell is maybe a mango smell? Actually smells quite nice.

I think this product has a good smell to it, and maybe it works if your hair is more yellow. However, for the color that my hair is (very light blonde), I do not notice any difference in color after wash with this.

If returns were available, I would return.

Can’t say enough about this shampoo. i decided to quit coloring my hair and embrace the gray a few years ago, i have a LOT of white in it and the purple shampoos the salons were pushing made my hair turn purple! Not wanting to be a blue haired looking old lady i started searching for something that would do the job with no purple and found this stuff.

I adored this shampoo for years. Made going natural so easy. But now its a purple formulation which is drying. The original was not and left my grey and silvers so much softer. Will Klorane be returning to the original white formulation???.

I have purchased bottle after bottle of this shampoo and will continue to do so. This keeps my gray hair bright and sparkly. I use it every day except for maybe a couple of days a week when I use a purple shampoo.

It’s gentle on my hair and I wash every day. It would be great if they made a matching conditioner. I have recommended this shampoo to other women that have asked about my hair when I am out and about.
