20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For Seborrheic Dermatitis (2023 Updated)

My 1 yr old has had issues with cradle cap off and on since birth. I’ve tried different things, nothing has really worked. I bought this to try along with the Freida cradle cap brush set. First bath and her scalp looks/feels healthier.

Flakes and scales are just falling off her head as I brush it with no real resistance. I did massage it thoroughly into the problem areas with the bristle bath brush. I think a few more washes with this and it will clear up.

Definitely recommend trying it with the brush and really getting it on there. *No, i didn’t get paid by either brand to give a positive review*.

I never write reviews, but this stuff works! My 5 week-old got seborrheic dermatitis all over his face, ears, and scalp. It was bad. I used this daily along with the cream for five days straight and it CLEARED UP! So impressed.

I skipped a couple days and the inflammation, bumps, and crusty flakes started to return. Going to keep this in our regular routine from now on. The thing I didnt like was how drying it is, but Dr. Eddies Happy Cappy Eczema Cream helps with that.

Also, I dont love all the ingredients in it (ie Phenoxyethanol), but I havent found anything else that works as well. I recommend this product!.

I have decided that I genuinely cannot live without this product! I bought this initially because it was suggested for malassezia (shout of to SimplySkinCare!). It works beautifully at controlling “fungal acne” on my face without stripping my skin and destroying my barrier.

But even better, this has become a literally all in one treatment for ALL of my skin issues. It’s helped immensly with my dandruff, even better than T-Sal and T-gel, which smells awful and dries my hair out badly.

It’s also become a body wash for me. I have a very, EXTREMELY mild case of ichthyosis. While I know that I shouldn’t be ashamed of it, it’s been something I’ve been self-conscious about my whole life.

I’ve tried so many cream, scrubs, oils, you name it, to help control it. While they helped the appearance, it was still present. This shampoo though? it dissolve all the flaky skin on my body, it’s like magic! My skin has never looked and felt so nice, I almost cried the first time I used it.

I’m never letting this stuff go, I need a 16oz bottle ASAP Dr. Eddie!!!.

I’ve been using this shampoo for over 3 years now, so I thought I’d leave a review with my extensive experience using it. First of all, this shampoo completely clears up my dandruff (itchiness/flakiness etc.

), which after all, is the point, right? Sometimes I will run out and use my partners shampoo (also cruelty free, no SLS/parabens etc. ), which is always a mistake as the dandruff always comes back almost immediately.

But again, as soon as I’m back on the Jason train, it disappears! When I initially started using it, it took around 1 month for it to take effect and clear up my dandruff. 1 month for me is around 8-10 washes (2 per week).

I had already been using natural shampoo for years so I didn’t get any of the ‘greasiness’ that some other people have complained about getting (which you will always get initially if this is your first time trying natural shampoo!!).

The only thing I don’t like about this shampoo is that is doesn’t lather all that well. It’s pretty thick and can be difficult to spread around your hair, I often find myself using double the amount to coat my full head (and I only have mid-length hair, I can’t imagine if it was long!).

In saying that, once it’s on there and I’ve re-wet it a couple of times, it still does a good job at cleaning my hair. I most often get away with only washing it once a week, without it getting to greasy the day before I wash it, so I don’t deal with the thickness problem too much.

To summarise: 1. If this is your first time using natural shampoo, your hair will be greasier than normal to begin with. Your hair will be used to getting all of its natural oils stripped from it, whereas natural shampoo gently cleans your hair, and leaves you natural oils alone.

Persist with it and I guarantee soon enough, you’ll be able to go days without washing your hair and still have it feeling fresh and healthy. 2. This shampoo really does work. I struggled with chronic dandruff for so long and tried almost everything to alleviate it, I would never go without this now.

A miracle worker? Most definitely.

I was very sceptical about this shampoo. My scalp has suddenly become very dry over the past 2 years since lockdown, I’m not sure if there’s a connection? Had tried various other shampoos with lavender, coconut oil etc.

Although it did help after a couple of days the Itching came back with dry flakes. I can honestly say, after one use of this shampoo my Itching has stopped by at least 90%!! It is definitely work trying & I will definitely be buying more.

BTW I am male ☺️.

I have had really bad dandruff all my life, mild to moderate (depending on the time of the year) and at times itchy. I’d tried all sorts to get rid of it. I finally had enough as my dandruff had become really visible at the front of my hair and it was embarrassing.

After trying to decide between all the anti-dandruff shampoos available I thought I’d give E45 a try. Only used it once and its cleared nearly all of it away (bar a few flakes after a good search through my hair).

My head is still a bit itchy but I’ve only used it once and I’m hopeful this will improve. Really happy with my purchase and will continue to use it. Ps. Head and Shoulders is a con, been using it for years to no avail.

I usually use the Superdrig Trichology shampoo, but I can’t get it at the moment so I thought I’d try this. I am so disappointed in it. It’s making the dry skin on my forehead come back, my scalp feels tight and my hair is dry and dull.

Back to the drawing board!.

The shampoo product is not working for me to control my scalp dandruff. An 8/10 condition. It may need a couple of months to work effectively. Also, I find the bottle difficult to squeeze to release the shampoo, esp when hands are wet.

I understand the need for thick and rich shampoo but very hard to get it from bottle. I like the fragrance.

I originally purchased 6 bottles of the hand sanitizer and then 6 pouch refills. I had been looking for months and buying everything possible. DS Sanitizer smells amazing and for the first time ever my hands are actually soft and not cracking.

I will search no further. I then purchased a volumizing shampoo for me, and the Dandrene for my severely disabled son who gets sores on his scalp. Within a week the sores were half gone. He is also severely immunocompromised with respiratory issues which makes Covid very frightening and the need for sanitizers a must.

The hair product was just a guess after using new hair products for me and in the end ALL of the products I have tried are excellent!! I highly recommend this hair product Dandrene and the volumizing shampoo and the sanitizer.

The fragrance of all three products are wonderful and functionality is even better. Truly Amazing. THANK YOU!.

I was skeptical, I thought here’s another shampoo & conditioner claiming to work. Well, I’m no longer looking, I have found it! This product really does what it says it does. The mint smell is great and the way your head tingles when you use the conditioner is a bonus.

If you’re still looking for relief, try this you won’t be disappointed!.

Infant to toddler suffered with scalp issues. Noticed results after first use and improved thereafter. I was prescribed topical cream for my infant and it was much too strong… even for me to bare applying it.

Use prescriptions as last resort… try happy cappy first!!! Also great for adult flakes.

My 3 month old daughter was having dry scalp that looked itchy. I bought this because of the reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. I used it only once on her and no more flakes. I think maybe I use it once more her scalp will be completely flake free.

I can’t believe it only took one use. If your kid or baby has flakey itchy scalp definitely use this!.

So I have a very oily and potentially ry scalp(weird combination I know lol). My hair is thick but very fine, hence the oilyness, and is very difficult to manage some days, especially if humid. My dad used Neutrogena T-Gel for years when I was a kid due to his dandruff and I started using it as an adult to help manage my dry and itchy scalp and it worked fairly well for a few years until I met my wife and found the extra strength version.

WOW! I gotta say its far more effective for me than the original. If I go more than one day, one and a half at most, without washing my hair then my scalp starts itching with a ferocity to drive any man bonkers.

But the Neutrogena T-Gel Extra Strength works amazingly well for my scalp. It doesn’t matter how itchy my scalp is, as soon as I use the Extra Strength it immediately goes away (most likely the coal tar in it) and my scalp feels amazing.

Now it can dry my hair out really bad if I have to use it frequently certain weeks so I have to combat that with alternating the T-Gel extra strength with a moisturizing Tea Tree shampoo afterwards to get some manageability back.

Overall I do not foresee my shower not having a bottle at all times lol.

I’ve suffered with seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp for absolute years and have always been able to manage flare ups until recently. I’ve had a lot of stress and it made my condition the worst it’s ever been, thick white patches that would only scrape off my scalp after I washed my hair and the scalp was damp, only to return the next day, I also had itching and scaly scabs that looked awful.

I tried everything I could buy , Selsun 2%, nizoral 2% , head & shoulders clinical, even prescription scalp application, none worked, not until I tried T Gel, after 6 weeks using it 3 times a week my scalp is clear, it took the full 6 weeks.

I will now only use this once a week to maintain a healthy scalp, I can’t praise this shampoo enough.

This is an old school dandruff shampoo. Started using it in high school and I buy it every so often when the choices are limited. It has a pungent smell to it due to the tar, not unpleasant in my opinion, just noticeable.

This formula has never been very effective for my particular psoriatic scalp issue. Very little improvement. Nizoral and nioxin for dandruff however, worked wonders for me so I very rarely turn to this particular product anymore.

I’ve had plenty of products that keep my flakes in check, but I’ve always had a very hard time relieving the terrible itch. Even when completely flake-free, I was always scratching my head, often to the point of causing minor abrasions/scabs.

With the first wash I noticed such a feeling of relief all over my scalp as if I’d just gently scratched it all over. I’m almost finished with my first bottle, and I’m happy to report I haven’t had one scab on my scalp since I switched.

The scent is also very pleasant and neutral, not likely to clash against any other scented products. It reminds me of like a “fresh linen” scent, but, for hair? If that makes sense. It smells light, fresh, and clean, with a little feminine touch.

Nor is it very strongly scented, as I’m usually sensitive.

I only used this once but oh my god this has improved my hair ALREADY! I was previously using the ogx coconut milk shampoo and conditioner and it just was not cleaning my hair well, left my hair so tangly and knotted and it never felt truly clean.

I had to aggressively brush my hair after I got out for the shower and lost A LOT of hair in the process. I switched to this bc I wanted something to help my dry scalp and wow …. After 1 use I can already feel a HUUUUGE difference.

I woke up this morning and it felt like I had already brushed my hair. It was sooo silky smooth without even having to run a brush through it. It feels clean and has a really good lather to get close to your scalp to be able to really clean it.

That was my issue with the other shampoo I was using. I can’t wait to see how this works after more uses but after the first one I’m very hopeful!! 🙂 I have dove body wash so I’m thinking dove may just be my brand for shower products! :).

I’ve bought so many products for my husband’s bad dandruff problem. He had dandruff that were big pieces, not those light little flakes you see in commercials. I read reviews and he tried all sorts of shampoos from the top rated products to name brand shampoos smelling chemically and pretty awful.

But this Dove Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, Dermacare Scalp, Soothing Moisture pH Balanced Formula is what worked for him. He is 62, he wears a bandana over his hair and under his trucker hat, and shampoos his hair twice a week.

This is a genuine review from a real customer. I have had dandruff for years and have tried everything from Head and Shoulders to expensive brands with “extra strength”. I was in the grocery store one day and there weren’t may options at the store I was at and came across this.

I had no hope for it but felt I would give it a shot since it wasn’t expensive. I also purchased the conditioner as well. My hair is naturally wavy and thick and was becoming so dull and unhealthy feeling over time because of my dandruff.

The first time I used this I scrubbed my head really well with my nails to make sure I could lift up any dead skin and I let it sit for maybe a minute or two then followed up with the conditioner doing the same thing.

The first few times I noticed after blow drying my hair that I was pretty flaky but I knew it was just because I was uplifting some of the dead skin that had been building up there for months or years at this point that other shampoos couldn’t get up or would just easily create more of.

Let me preface this with 2 facts about myself: 1) I have had dandruff/dry scalp since I was a kid and nothing had ever helped, and 2) I don’t typically leave reviews, even if I really like a product.

With that being said, this is the first dry scalp shampoo/conditioner that have ever worked for me, so I figured this might be helpful to anyone else who has had to deal with dandruff. I have been this shampoo/conditioner combo for a couple months and, within a couple weeks, noticed I wasn’t scratching my scalp as often.

Then today, I did a dandruff check, wherein I rapidly scratched my scalp for 5-10 seconds while hovering over my black tabletop. gross, I know, but I was curious as to how many flakes would fall out.

Whereas before using this combo, I could quickly scratch my for half a second and have a ton of flakes fall out onto my black clothing. Today, only 1 or 2 tiny flakes fell out. Idk about you, but that’s results to me.

So, I came here to write this! As for those reviews from people saying this dried out their hair, note I try to only shampoo my hair once or twice per week MAX. I haven’t noticed that my hair has become dry with this shampoo/conditioner.

I will point out that I use a leave-in conditioner once or twice a week as well.

Wow. So my scalp has been so tender, red, & itchy ya’ll! Ok so this shampoo has completely calmed and soothed my ITCHY, DRY & TENDER scalp! I literally fell asleep after my night shower with so much peace.

* Y’all my hair has never looked this sleek and smooth. I have naturally straight hair but the shampoos I’ve been using have been drying out my ends ( I don’t use heat tools) and curling them inward and the winter air jackets I wear have created static so I knew it was time figure out a better solution.

I used the shampoo conditioner just because it’s winter and my hair tends to dry out even more. What’s great about this is that I don’t have to use a hair oil bc the conditioner already does the work of hydrating my ends and reduces dryness and static.

My hair scalp has also been smelling good 48 tested. ( I also didn’t exercise that much-just worked from home). Anywho hope this helps your hurting scalp! Oh, I also chose this one bc it had almond oil not coconut oil bc CO is too heavy for my scalp and makes my face breakout.

* My scalp is always itchy but I didn’t know why. I was using a Pantene essential oil volume one and that thing was terrible! I’ve never struggled with serious issues like others but didn’t realize it was abnormal that my scalp hated so many products.

On this particular day I decided to use dry shampoo and it was a huge irritant to my scalp. Hairspray does the same thing too.

I have been suffering with a really itchy scalp for around a year, I think it maybe eczema and have bought different shampoos but never made any difference. Anyway I bought this E45 shampoo and it has helped, I’m not totally itch free but there is a big improvement.

I think if I use it a lot it could probably clear it. Bit expensive but worth it.

I’ve suffered with desperately itchy scalp for about 6 months to the extent I visited my GP. I’ve tried countless treatments but non work. I remembered hearing about sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) being in most shampoos to give plenty of lather but it had a drying action on skin so having seen the ingredients of E45 Dry Scalp Shampoo did not contain SLS I gave it a try; success!! Instantly from first wash there’s been virtually no itching.

I’m no chemist and it was just a hunch that worked.

5%. Coal is known as natural ingredient used for all sorts of health problem. However, I never knew that it could be used to treat dandruff or psoriasis. The smell is not the greatest, I want to say that it almost has no smell.

This tells me that they do not use perfume. Which is good and safe as you could be allergic to it. Price wise, i think it is not too expensive considering you only need use it twice a week. This product is made in Canada though the box has lots of Spanish translations which made me think it was made in Mexico.

Canada should have better quality control.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. The first thing that stood out was the smell. It’s got a pretty strong smell to it. The smell is rather medicinal, not bad, but not good either.

I’ve used similar shampoos and none of them smell that great. It did help keep my scalp clean of flakes and itchiness. I like to use a rubber shampoo brush to really scrub the shampoo into my scalp. I liked this product and I also like that it’s considerably cheaper than other brands of dandruff and psoriasis shampoo.

I would purchase this again.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. My scalp gets oily quickly after wash day and I have a bit of dandruff near my hairline. I used the Medicasp shampoo only on my scalp, not my ends, and it cleared up my dandruff and itchiness quickly.

I can part my hair now since my scalp looks clean. My hair does not look oily or super shiny even after two days from washing it. The shampoo does have a strong scent that reminds me of new tires. The scent lasted for a few hours after showering but it was not that strong so I did not mind it.
