20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For Purple Hair (2023 Updated)

It’s my first time having blonde highlights and this purple shampoo has kept the yellow tones out of my hair. 🙂 I’m addicted to keeping my hair platinum blonde. I’ll let it get to champagne blonde at the most.

But unfortunately my colorist didn’t not bleach my bangs as long as the rest of my hair, as a result, they tend to turn macaroni and cheese orange. So I end up having to apply this shampoo on it dry to make sure that part of my hair is evenly platinum like the rest of my hair.

Then I wet it a little and let it sit for 5 minutes and wash it out. And it’ll be as if my hair is evenly platinum all around. I love it. I don’t really have an issue with it staining my hands. I think it’s important to make sure your hands are already wet so it doesn’t stain your hands and let it mix with some water so it doesn’t stain your hands.

If I had a lot of shampoo (in general) it can be drying but I recommend immediately applying leave in conditioner when you exit the shower to reduce hair loss. I don’t have hair loss as long as I add product when my hair is damp and before I start combing through.

I also add more leave in conditioner in the afternoon on the ends too to keep the tips from drying out due to the climate near me. I feel like this product delivers what it promises. A shampoo isn’t meant to condition.

You need to apply conditioning after application.

I change my hair color often and in the summers always go back to blonde (my natural color) because it’s easier to maintain and then makes it easy to dye fun colors in the fall and winter. Going blonde is a process that takes a few months of highlights so it’s easy for my hair to get brassy from the process.

I am an avid user of purple shampoos to keep my blonde as ashy as possible, and this product does a good job. I leave it in for a bit while I shave to treat it like a toner and of course, recommend conditioning with the purple conditioner too! It might leave a tint of purple behind, but I kinda like that for me.

If you are not a fan of a purple tint, do a quick shampoo with a different shampoo after using the purple, prior to conditioning. Almost any purple shampoo might have some drying tendencies so I 100% recommend using this as a once-a-week or every other shower shampoo/conditioner.

This will help keep the hair healthy and on the in-between washes, you can use a hydrating or strengthening shampoo/conditioner.

Let me preface this by saying, yes, the purple helped tone my highlighted hair within the first use. I only use the conditioner, and I only wash my hair twice a week. It’s okay at conditioning, but after just 2 uses, my hair felt almost sticky after air drying, and was frizzy and weighed down.

That happens when there’s too much buildup, and it can happen to my fine hair quickly (although never that quick. ) I used a baking soda rinse as a clarifier and a different conditioner. Back to smooth, wavy hair.

I can only use this every so often, and just for the toning aspect. Apparently it is low quality in terms of conditioner.

If I were to compare this product I compare it to the olaplex toning shampoo just with a WAY better smell. The shampoo definitely dries out your hair but if you also purchase the condition it is well worth it.

The biggest issue it how hard you have to squeeze the bottle just to get a dime size out. I think half I just take off the top to use it. But the berry smell is way worth it.

I have tried literally every purple shampoo on the market and ths BRB is THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! It toned my hair, took away all the gross yellow and brass and left it so soft and moisturized, I am floored.

I am beyond thrilled with the results. When I showed my hair stylist, she was so impressed with how good my hair looked! Seriously, for anyone with blonde hair, this is your NEW FAVORITE purple shampoo.

I absolutely love this shampoo! I always buy the set with the conditioner as well! Nothing really compares to this shampoo because they hit every mark! It definitely helps revised and protect hair color.

It must have tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil because it leaves a cooling, tingling sensation on my scalp which I love! It makes me feel extra clean! I purchased the shampoo and condition of this product based on the reviews. I am not sure if it is me and I reached out to loreal paris but the smell that lingers in my hair after using this product for 3 weeks is horrid.

I thought I had Covid Nose but no other symptoms. I threw away my $100 pillows. I thought it was me but after ruling everything else out I washed my hair and let it air dry to find out that it was this shampoo and conditioner.

This is a game changer! I don’t have too much blonde through my hair but my balyage, which is supposed to be a cool ashy brown/blonde, had started to warm up a lot and was putting my hair back onto a warmer/yellow blonde – it comes with the territory of my natural hair colour unfortunately as my natural brown has warm undertones so usually my blonde balyage or highlights end up having to be a warmer blonde.

I recently found a new hairdresser through a friend who had a really good ashy blonde through her dark brown hair. I was a little skeptical that I could get an ashy blonde result that was as good, since my friend has a cooler natural brown hair, but thought I’d give it a try just incase this hairdresser was different to previous hairdressers who were never able to achieve that kind of ashy/cool tone on my hair.

However, when it was still wet, I could tell there was still plenty of warmth so I tried again for a full 20 mins – I don’t have enough light blonde in my hair that I was worried about taking it too far and going purple! Success! It worked! So so so well! My hair is also very soft, glossy and smells soooo good – very happy and will be sticking with Bold Uniq 🙂 I definitely recommend these products! BEFORE & AFTER: The photo on the left shows the balyage the day after I had it done at the hairdressers (again – doesn’t even look that ashy but it was very much more so than what I had previously), and the photo on the right is today, just after using the purple Shampoo & Conditioner.

I took both of these standing infront of a window during the day to get the natural light on it for a truer view of the colour. I’ll be asking for more of the lighter blonde strands through my hair next time I go to the hairdressers as overall it is still kind of warm – but since using Bold Uniq it’s the best hair colour I’ve ever been able to achieve, and is even more ashy than what was achieved at the hairdresser!.

I received Verb Purple Shampoo as a sample from PinchMe and I can honestly say that this is hands down probably my favorite sample I’ve received this far. I ALWAYS wash my hair once a week, but at times twice a week and condition it every day.

However, since using Verb Purple Shampoo I have only been washing once a week and the biggest shocker is I haven’t had to condition my hair at all. Which is a HUGE shock to me because I have long, thick and curly hair that requires some attention and upkeep.

I received this product as a free sample with my Sephora purchases. For context: I have dark brown hair with gray streaks. This is the first purple hair product I have tried and I am pleasantly surprised.

The scent is lovely and the product was a nice thick, smooth consistency with a deep purple colour. It has an amazing thick lather and did not stain my hair, scalp, hands or tiles. Rinsed out easily and left my hair feeling clean and soft.

I used this product along with the purple hair mask. My gray streaks were noticably more silver after only one application and my hair has never felt so soft. This and the hair mask are full size worthy in my opinion.

I bleach my roots and tone with this shampoo alone, it works. If you read the directions it’s designed to last through 12 washes, so it’s not something you want to use every time you wash. It’s potent and will turn your blonde hair greenish blue if you over use it.

It’s not for ashy blonde but for creating a nice neutral, natural clean looking blonde. The aqua shade of it will tone out orange and red while slightly toning any yellow into a natural blonde color.

You want some yellow in your hair to have a true blonde shade. If you’re looking for ash tones then you def want to go for the violet shampoo instead. Well I really love this shampoo and hope this helps.

I personally think this blue shampoo works very well on my balayaged hair. (For comparison, I also have the Blue Malva by Aveda, which is nice, and the Kerastas purple shampoo which is wayyyyy too drying!!! But those are the only other two color shampoos I have so I’m no expert on color shampoos!) I have long, thick hair so I do probably use too much.

I leave it in for about ten minutes before I rinse it. I don’t find it to be drying like others I’ve tried. It’s never turned my hair blue. I use it twice a week (or 3 depending on if I wash my hair that much).

My hair stays toned with this product. I hate when my hair starts turning brassy after a few weeks and after one wash with this product my hair is back to how it was. I’ve tried other brands such as Fanola and it does not work at all compared to Joico.

I have not experienced dried out hair with this product and I also pair it with the joico hair masque which makes it soft. But all hair types are different so it may not work for everyone.

I love this stuff and can’t get enough of it! my 3rd bottle already and it’s the only purple shampoo I trust for my blonde highlights! Loooove the smell especially! it’s not a drying formula unlike any other purple shampoos I tried which is also another major plus.

What I do is I dampened the hair slightly with just a lil bit of water then I squeeze a good amount on my palm (more than they recommend on the bottle) and place it all over my blonde highlights. I leave it on for 30-45 mins and then properly rinse it.

This technique uses a lot more product than what’s recommended on the bottle but I noticed that this way the brassiness stays gone for a month long so I only need to do this once a month. I could not recommend this shampoo and my technique enough! I love love love this shampoo!.

I have naturally black hair that I got balayage done to so my highlights aren’t blond they’re a lighter brown/light golden brown color. it was starting to look very golden which wasn’t really the look I wanted.

this conditioner has a blue tone to it as well as purple. it uses blue spirulina so I thought it could help out with toning my highlights and it did! it worked wonderfully. I no longer have super golden strands, it’s toned down and it looks back to a nice light brown with no brass.

this is on the very first use and I’m very happy. I didn’t buy the shampoo, I just got this conditioner and put it in my lengths. I also have the balayage near my roots in front of my face and I added the conditioner to those areas too and it works wonderfully.

This conditioner almost feels like it is oil-based? It’s incredibly smooth and spreadable throughout the hair. if you were to close your eyes and rub this in your hands, without a doubt you would probably ask “did you dump olive oil on my hands?” Because that’s what the texture feels like!! Thankfully it does NOT make your hair oily, greasy, nor weigh it down -you don’t have to use a whole lot of it because it spreads so effortlessly! when I got this product I was a little confused because I always thought purple shampoo was for gray or bleached blonde hair. I do have colored treated dark blonde hair so I just don’t know if its meant for my hair color.

I say that because I don’t think I can really talk about that benefit of the shampoo. Either way I’ve used it a few times to try it out and I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. I’ve recently heard someone say that purple shampoo can tend to dry out hair so I stopped using.

Not because I was noticing any dryness but just making sure i wouldn’t either. Since I have I will use it every once in a while but I just don’t think I will purchase after. I just don’t think this was for my hair color/type.

This product is too intense. I didn’t want my hair to look purple. I’ve had graying hair since high school and then white hair for the past 30 years. I have used products to keep the yellowing out of my hair, but over the past couple of years due to probably poor diet and stress while attending to my husband through an illness it seemed my hair began to show signs of yellowing.

I was excited to try your product. I guess I should have known when instructions said to wear gloves, which meant it was more intense than previous shampoos I had used that were blue/purple to give my hair a silvery white (non-yellow) tone.

My first use: I shampooed my hair very quickly and didn’t leave the product in even one minute. I ended up with sections of my hair definitely showing tones of purple! After a couple of days, I shampooed again with my regular shampoo.

the purple tones are still there, MAYBE slightly lighter. After about a week I tried the Intense Violet Shampoo again. making a lather in my hands slightly before I applied it to my hair so that I didn’t apply it in it’s full intensity to just one area.

Still, I ended up with areas of violet/purple in my hair. And. it’s not really like the current hair styles where people have pink or purple sections on purpose, but you can definitely see the violet tones.

I have long hair. slightly past my shoulders. I just wanted to get rid of the yellow tones. I didn’t want to look like a clown. My 14 year old son said, “Wow, Memaw, you’re really styling with the purple hair streaks!” And.

So the directions say to wear gloves and I of course didn’t read the directions. It’s shampoo, everyone knows how to use that, right? Wrong. Luckily I read while it was lathered on my hair and quickly scrubbed the purple color off my hands.

The smell was very nice and mild but reminds me of a high end hair salon, how you’re hair smells incredible when they use one of those secret shampoos in the big bottle. I am extremely disappointed with this product!!! I was so excited to try it out because I had heard how amazing it is. WRONG!!! I have healthy blonde high lighted hair and after using this product my hair is ruined.

I followed instructions to the T but I ended up with purple, bluish, greyish hair and it fried my hair. I tried washing it several times with my regular shampoo but it did not fix the horrible color my hair was left with.

I ended up having to spend $200. 00 to have my hair dresser fix my hair. I called customer service to let them know this happened and they just said everybody’s hair reacts differently and would not offer a refund.

I bought this product from Amazon I’m not sure if you can purchase it in stores. But…. It made all of my blonde highlights a very light white blonde color and made my brown hair a lighter brown after using it.

I would only recommend this product to people that only have blonde hair not dirty blonde hair. It’s kinda expensive I’m not crazy about this product but… it will help lighten you’re highlights if you have them.

Only leave it on for 3 mins to 5 mins at a time to get the best results. Try it for you’re self and see what you think.

I have been using this product for several years now. It’s a must have if you bleached or high lighted hair, any blonde or even grey hair. The scent is amazing and it tones down any brass and helps keep your platinum white.

I use it once a week and follow up with deep conditioner. This was the first purple shampoo that didn’t dry my hair out and that’s why I continue to use it. Try it you won’t regret it! The liter bottle last me over a year so it basically pays for itself.

I have fine medium length hair and used this with every wash. About once a month I additionally used the Matrix blue mask, and these two together has worked so well for me. Even my hairstylist complimented that my color still looked good after 3 months because my hair goes brassy so quickly! I didn’t find it drying like some of the reviews said, but could also be because of my hair type and use of other leave ins.

Got this for my daughter. She needed a good purple conditioner for her hair. Thought she should try this one after reading about it. She raved about it. After first use. She has curly, thin hair. A lot of it.

Root to End Bolder Purple Blonde Shampoo couldn’t have arrived at a better time. 3 weeks ago my hair was bleached and toned again, but it was left with a lot of orange/yellow brass color. I had expensive purple toned shampoo on hand, and while it helped the color, it dries out my hair.

THANKFULLY I had this on hand for my next wash. I was delighted to see the pigment as a true purple, and to know the product has no silicones, parabens or phthalate. They also added amino acids to keep the moisture in your hair.

I received a free sample of Root to End Bolder Blonde Purple from the Home Tester Club to give my opinion on it. As a user of high priced blonde purple shampoos I was very unsure of Root to End Bolder Blonde Purple Shampoos effectiveness for its price.

But WOW. It has a easy to handle bottle and easy to open lid. The shampoos thickness is just right, and makes a creamy great smelling lather and rinses easily. Leaves hair very soft, clean, great smelling, and easy to comb, left with no unwanted brassiness and luxurious hair!!! I was very impressed and sold on this product! I’ve heard of Root to End Bolder Blonde Purple Shampoo before and I’ve seen it in stores. However, this was my first time trying the product. I used it according to the directions and feel in love with it after the first use.

The purple aspect of it takes a bit of getting used to but it does make the shampoo fun to use (can’t say that about many other shampoos/conditioners). After a week or so, I did notice fuller and richer hair.

I many need to used the product a bit longer to actually confirm it’s full affects, especially the “œbolder blonde” claim, but after about half the bottle I’ve been very impressed. I will definitely finish the bottle and will explore this brand and their product line more.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I love this shampoo and the matching conditioner. I tried a sample first, and then got the travel sizes because I was discouraged by the negative reviews. Just came back to order the full sizes of both.

I’m in my 40’s and my hair has become course and unruly. I’m a graying dishwater blonde, and I get partial highlights every 8 weeks to brighten and hide grays. We have hard water where I live, I spend a lot of time outdoors and only wash 2-3 times per week because I usually like my second-day and third-day hair better.

I’ve been really pleased with the way these products tone and maintain my highlights – bright and ashy! I’m also impressed with the texture and feel of my hair and do not notice any waxy feel or buildup at all.

I don’t like a lot of lather when I shampoo because I know lather means sulfates, and I don’t want my hair and scalp stripped. I am prone to an itchy scalp, especially with some “natural” products with lots of essential oils, and at times I lose an alarming amount of hair when I wash, and have not experienced any of that since I started using these.

So for me, these blonde revival products are perfect. If you really need lather, you probably won’t like this shampoo, but you might get used to it and end up loving your hair! With a little leave-in conditioner (currently using and loving Nutriplenish), mostly air-drying and finishing with a blow dryer, my hair behaves and looks great.

I have used Aveda products for decades – love the Brilliant and Damage Remedy lines – but I’ve also tried lots of other high-end brands, and I keep coming back. I for one am grateful to Aveda for improving on these products to keep up with the latest haircare trends.

My stylist gave me some of this to try since you discontinued Blue Malva. It’s terrible! As others have said – no lather to speak of and leaves a filmy residue. After I dried my hair, it just hung there, lank with no wave to speak of.

I’m older, have light, honey blond hair that has natural wave and open cuticles. This took away all the personality of my hair and left a sad, straight mess. I immediately got back in the shower, used the Cherry Almond softening shampoo first, then some Be Curly and things were much better.

I threw the Blonde Revival away and will never use that again. I just hate that Aveda has been discontinuing all the heritage shampoos. I’ve been an Aveda customer since 1988. Those of us who are long-term customers of Aveda came for a reason.

One of those was the aromatherapy aspect of the products. Basically, if it smelled awesome, it was a good chemical balance for you and your hair, and I found that to be very true. I used the Madder Root shampoo for decades and then switched to Scalp Benefits when Madder Root was discontinued.

I truly loved the Madder Root – the scent was incredible and made me happy. It treated my hair beautifully. Scalp Benefits was fine – I did love the cinnamon and burdock in it – but it’s changed. It’s runny instead of rich, doesn’t have the excellent spicy smell, and leaves my hair too dry.

So I switched to my husband’s Clove alternating with Blue Malva. The Clove is the closest any shampoo has come to that lovely Madder Root smell and performance. And now that’s gone as well. Down to just Cherry Almond now.

Here’s what I hate about pretty much any of the new shampoos Aveda brings out – the scent! The entire reason for going to Aveda (which is not an inexpensive line of products) used to be the aromatherapy.

The range of scents were balanced so people could find the right product for their chemistry. Now almost all of them smell like citronella candles which just brings me down and leaves me feeling queasy.

I was surprised at how poor the reviews were for this, and I was super hesitant to buy it because of that. I mentioned this to my hair stylist who owns an Aveda salon, and she recommended I try it because she said it is pretty good and that she liked it.

I’m glad I tried it. It works pretty well! I only didn’t give it 5 stars because it is hard to squeeze out of it can stain the shower/tub combo if not well washed off right away (this could also be because of the actual shower/tub itself because it has a tendency to stain).

I definitely didn’t experience this drying my hair out at all, quite the opposite actually. I only use it once a week, and purple shampoos and conditioners are stripping; so, they should only be used once a week.

It’s also super important not to keep it on longer than the instructions say. I use strictly Aveda products and get may hair dyed with Aveda dye. My hairdresser said some people might have issues with their color changing if they use this too close to when they get their hair dyed (I use it a week after), if people use it too often (don’t use more than once a week), if they keep it on for too long (be strict with how long it’s in your hair based on instructions), or if there is some weird interference with the dye like a boxed dye or something.

Overall, I think it’s a good product and would recommend it!.

This past year I have tried to limit unnecessary outings, including extended visits to the salon for cuts and color. That lead to it being over a year since I last got professional highlights. I have naturally dirty blonde hair with streaks of gray throughout (hence, the reason why I would highlight my hair) and heard through trusted resources that purple shampoo would be able to tone my hair and make those grays less noticeable.

Well let me tell you, after only two washes a number of people asked me if I recently colored my hair. Nope! It was the shampoo! They gray has started to blend in and looks more like natural highlights.

I highly recommend!.

This stuff is my FAVORITE. My hair dresser recommended this to me because my hair gets so brassy so fast. I have tried so many purple shampoos and this one beats them all. This stuff actually has stuff in it to condition your hair unlike others it leaves your hair so soft and healthy.

It also doesn’t stain your hair purple which is a win in my book! This is way better then matrix total results. Oh yeah you can’t forget the amazing fig smell! I’m 100% in love with this stuff 😍 It makes my hair so blonde!!!.

I went from having jet dyed black hair for 15 years to blonde highlights over a period over 3 months, regardless of this my hair was well taken care of and in really good condition until I started using another well known brands purple shampoo, it left my hair dry and broken, so I was quite sceptical about using this, however it left my hair a lovely shade, removed all the brassiness and made it shiny, soft and manageable.

I don’t feel that my hair is left dry at all after using this product twice weekly. Also, I read on other reviews about how hands can be left stained and on occasion hair can be left with a slight purple tint, I have not experienced either.

Highly recommended.

It’s official, I have found my new favorite purple shampoo! I love Nexxus so I couldn’t wait to try their purple shampoo on my hair. I have colored hair so it tends to get brassy overtime in the highlights, with just ONE wash it toned the highlights right back to their beautiful tone they should be and left my hair feeling healthy and soft.

This shampoo smells fantastic and you don’t have to use much to get the desired effect. I think that for the quality of Nexxus it’s an absolute must have for blondes. Plus the price point is affordable! 5 stars!!.

I received the Nexxus Blonde Assure Purple Shampoo For Blonde & Silver Hair. This product is fantastic. I am in the process of transitioning my hair back to grey and I had very blonde highlights put in the help with the root demarcation.

The highlights turned brassy with a “greenish” tint after washing my hair with hard water for a few weeks. I applied this products for three minutes the first time and then another four the day after.

My highlights are now back to being very light and my hair is not dry at all. I am very impressed!!.

This is the worst purple shampoo I’ve ever used, it did the exact opposite and made my hair straw yellow instead of toning. Very disappointing.

Completely satisfied, my hair is beautiful, soft, shiny and the orange highlights are reduced after the first shampoo.

This is my second purchase of this shampoo. I now wouldn’t use anything else.
