20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For Chemo Hair (2023 Updated)

I bought this as a convenient replacement when I ran out of my beloved Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo, but it really doesn’t stand up to that comparison. First and foremost, I don’t smell or feel the tea tree! The Paul Mitchell even feels cooling on the skin, a sensation that tracks with my experience using straight tea tree essential oil as an acne spot treatment.

It’s my favorite part of using tea tree products, I find it wonderfully refreshing. Unfortunately, this shampoo doesn’t have that, and the smell weirdly reminds me of a can of Diet Coke—sharply metallic and vaguely artificial.

I feel like I’m going crazy every time I use it, because I feel like it *shouldn’t* smell like that, but it really really does. However, it is an effective shampoo, lathers well and leaves my hair clean, so it still gets a couple stars.

Sorry to say this shampoo made my scalp burn! I used it twice, and realized I could not use it again. My husband is using it, and it doesn’t affect him the way it affected me. I do think it does make hair look a little thicker.

Would not purchase again. , too pricey, and my husband is not interested in my buying it for him.

Received yesterday, smaller amount than expected, but received, but got a 5. 00 discount. So great amount for the price! It has made my hair silky smooth, with great manageability. I normally don’t write reviews, unless a product has made a truly significant change, and this one has. I suffer from chronic migraines so, being on prescription medication causes hair loss for the past few years.

I’ve tried several hair growth products from home health remedies to expensive products including this hair growth product line. I finally caved and bought the complete line, shampoos, conditioner, regrowth treatment spray, vitamin pills, you name it, and used it consistently for seven months, and my hair was noticeably longer, thicker, and healthier.

The sad part is, my scalp became very itchy after a few months of using this product. I gave it a rest and wanted to make sure it was because of this product or something else so I switched to another shampoo and just used the conditioner because I still wanted to incorporate this product for hair growth and thickness, but my head/scalp was still very itchy, so then I tried another theory and stopped using the product altogether and my scalp stopped being itchy.

Sadly, I had to stop using this line of product because it truly worked. It was a good counteract against my prescription medication causing hair loss. If it weren’t for the itchiness of my scalp after every use, I would still be using it.

I don’t know if it’s the chemicals or ingredients or my scalp is just sensitive to the ingredients, because I’ve never had this itchiness in my scalp with any other products, but, unfortunately that’s the reason I stopped using it.

I’d recommend a friend to try it because it definitely does work, maybe my scalp is just sensitive (?). That’s the only reason I gave it four stars. Otherwise, the product does live up to its name for the hair growth, strength, and thickness.

I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for two months now. I wash my hair about three times per week. I have been experiencing increased hair shedding recently, but I primarily bought this to address the dryness on my scalp.

I have used many different products to try and stop my head from itching. I have been to a dermatologist and purchased pricey shampoo from my hairdresser. I have tried dandruff shampoo even though I don’t believe I have that condition.

Nothing works. Anyway, this shampoo is very lightly scented which is good for my skin. I can’t use peppermint or menthol, it is too irritating. I can say my head seems to itch less. It is not gone, but I guess I will learn to live with it.

The shampoo lathers well. I leave it on about a minute as instructed. I like the conditioner, too. I have also noticed less hair loss. I do not use the hair growth serum so I can’t speak to that. I think I will re purchase this when it’s empty.

It is about half full at this point and seems to be a fair price for how long the bottle lasts.

I can tell the most difference when I put my hair up in a bun on day two, with other shampoos my hair is thin and oily and just terrible by late afternoon the day after washing but with Keranique my hair still looks okay enough for a messy bun, still have some fullness and definitely not as oily.

I love this shampoo. Absolutely one of the best I have ever used. I have fine curly hair and an oily scalp, so I need a good cleanse to remove product and oil. This does that without being too harsh or drying.

There are lots of complaints about the smell. Maybe it was stronger in the past because, although it is masculine, it’s very mild. This shampoo makes a huge difference on how much hair ends up in the drain of the shower… a lot less.

Allow me to explain. I got this and the shampoo a few weeks ago. I shortly after using it, possibly immediately, I don’t remember now, experienced unbearable burning downstairs. I thought a UTI, Yeast infection, combination possibly.

I self treated a yeast infection, I believe was part of the problem I developed from using it, and crazy burning that wouldn’t subside. Finally, after about a week, using a cream for the yeast infection and just letting time take care of the burning, I was normal again.

no pain or burning. Last week, I took a shower and used the shampoo and this conditioner again and immediately had the same issue a moment later. It didn’t burn when I peed, but my urethra and everything else was on fire.

I also knew I developed a yeast infection promptly. Again, I began self treating the yeast infection and thankfully knew what was causing the unbearable pain and burning, even in my butt lol. I looked and saw there is capascian in the conditioner and guess rinsing it out, it passed my downstairs areas and caused the immediate reaction.

It’s been about 5 days and it’s a lot better again, I still have a few days left I guess if the burning waxing and waning, but wanted to let my experience get out there, to help others avoid it. Like I said, if the capsaicin was that strong.

then it probably is good for the hair and scalp, although not so much for certain other areas and i will continue to use this, and buy it again, and wash my hair and rinse in the sink when using it.

I did wish that you had a shampoo and conditioner for dry thinning hair that had something in it to make hair RE-GROW. I’ve use your products for a little while but I see no regrowth. Using Minoxidil is only a temporary thing so I find it to be a waste of time and money especially in these times.

Do you have anything more permanent in hair regrowth? I do like how the moisturizing conditioner leaves my hair for 24 hours but the very next morning it is so limb. I hope it is safe to use every day to keep it looking as nice as possible.

Keranique shampoo and conditioner has made all the difference in my hair. My hair was falling out and the first shampoo very little hair came out. I’ve been using over a year with the hair growth system and my hair looks healthier, doesn’t fall out and new hair appeared after 4 months of faithfully using twice a day the hair growth serum.

Nioxin System 3 shampoo is very gentle on the scalp, minty fresh fragrance, and produces a lot of bubbles (lather up very well for a dime size amount). I was very happy to receive another complimentary hair care set.

I had already tried the Nioxin System 6, previously my hair was a lot damaged from chemically dying my hair continuously. It took a tremendous amount of work to get it back to healthy hair, I did a routine work with the system 6 to help with the thinning problem and bringing back the shine and smooth texture.

As of now my hair is fluffy soft, shiny but it still has a long way to go. I’ve been using system 3, for about a week now, It solved my scalp problem. I had very sensitive dandruff problems, and dry hair.

When using all three products together, there is a noticeable increase in volume. I love the minty, tingly feeling of the product (although I know this bothers some people). I don’t feel like it strips the hair, especially when used with the conditioner.

I cannot speak for whether this product helps with hair loss since this is not an issue that I have, but it certainly helps with increasing volume.

I love nioxin. Back in cosmetology school we learned a lot about the brand. They have customizable kits for colored, and progressed thinning. Its a bit pricey but worth it as when used properly it does help hair fall thinning.

They recommend to use all their hair styling products as well for maximum results. This is an excellent brand and I have seen it migrating to grocery stores. This is unfortunate as the product could be watered down or fake.

I bought this duo and matching hair mask last November and have been using it ever since. I had read the description and the reviews and was looking forward to trying these out as they sounded perfect for what I was looking to get out of it.

Think again. After using this product for the first few times I was left feeling disappointed, my hair looked dull and lacklustre, but I persevered, and thought that it might take a little time for my hair to get used to it.

Well, fast forward six months, my hair is dry, frizzy, knotty, dull, and generally looks horrible (I don’t use any heat or styling tools and my hair has no bleach or dye in it). Can’t say I didn’t give it a fair chance.

I was annoyed with how much product I had left, which is why I didn’t buy something else sooner, but eventually even my annoyance wasn’t enough to compete with how truly awful this was!.

My hair looks terrible. I have used the smooth shampoo and conditioner, as well as the leave-in treatment for repair and it’s done absolutely nothing except give me a ton of frizz. The only 2 products I like are the hair mask repair and the scrub.

the smell was soooo good though. super fresh, sweet, and green. another thing they could improve on is providing bigger bottles for those who want them. i love the lab equipment concept though!.

I first tried this in 2018. Only on my third bottle. It lasts a long time I use sparingly and twice a week. Another day or two I will just wet my hair in shower with no shampoo. I’m 66 and my natural medium dark brown fine hair looks and feels so healthy.

I cut my own hair. Medium short layered. I get lots of compliments. I’m ready to order a new bottle. I see now it comes in a tube. Mine is a pump bottle. I would highly recommend. It smells great by the way.

This shampoo is my all time favorite my mom has been using this since I was younger so I decided to keep on using this. You only have to apply a small amount and that does the trick! No refreshing and cleansing results as same product used before and bought from another source. The one used before (picture attached) had great results on oily scalp and hair falling. No value for money.

I have been using the products for many years now and my hair has been touched by heaven itself, my hair is healthy and it shines and there is less breakage. After years of bleach and colour, my hair had broken off and become really short and extremely damaged. I was a little apprehensive and had almost given up hope after trying almost everything to fix my ‘broken’ hair After literally 2 months of using Waterman’s shampoo and conditioner every other day, I have noticed at least 2 inches of growth and a massive improvement in the overall condition of my hair.

Although pricier than normal products, Waterman’s is still competitively priced and lasts for ages as you only need a little as it lathers really well. Definitely worth investing in if you have short or slow growing hair.

I have been using the Grow Me shampoo & conditioner since the end of March. I was recommended it because my medication for breast cancer was making my hair thin and just wasn’t growing. I knew it was helping my hair to grow and definitely looked in better condition, but didn’t think it was making my really fine hair any thicker, therefore was on the verge of not using the shampoo & condition anymore.

I saw my hairdresser for the first time today since December due to lockdown. She couldn’t believe how long my hair had got, what lovely condition it was in and how shiny it was, but most of all how thick it had got.

Yet when I look and feel my hair I didn’t think it looked or felt thicker. Just goes to show that the products really do work for my hairdresser to comment on the thickness of my hair as she never has before.

I received this product for free for my honest review. DOES IT WORK? Short answer: I don’t know. I feel like it makes my fine hair feel thicker over time, but I’ve tried using the shampoo and conditioner without the hair treatment and the system worked just as fine.

Long answer: They gave us a month to test and review this product, but I don’t think that’s enough time to see results. I used Nioxin system for over a year between 2020 and 2021, and will base my review on the results I had during that period.

I have very fine and low density hair. And it’s getting worse over time, basically after my 30s. I started using the Nioxin system (shampoo, conditioner, hair treatment) and didn’t notice anything for a while, except that I saw my hair falling more during the first month (as expected).

After 6-8 months I started noticing that I had more hair, could see less of my scalp. In hindsight, my hair has never been fuller and longer than after those 12-14 months using Nioxin system non-stop.

I ran out of it, didn’t repurchased, and now in 2023 my hair is back to what it was before Nioxin. During those 12-14 months I used the hair treatment on and off, and I don’t remember noticing any difference from just using shampoo and conditioner.

So, although I’d say Nioxin system works great, I’m not sure how the hair treatment contributed. I think you’ll have the same results without it.

I received this product for free from Nixon and Influenster in exchange for my honest review. So I will say I do not know how I ended up trying the kit for thinning hair because I do have extra thick hair but I did go ahead and try out the kit so here are my thoughts on the conditioner.

So it started out good with the shampoo then the conditioner I thought it was going to be pretty good as well. The smell was definitely stronger that the shampoo. Then it was basically like the Vicks shower tab.

So I was thinking this is kinda great at clearing out the sinuses as well, which it is spring allergy season so great. That is about the time the burning started. I do normally brush through my hair with conditioner on it and I quickly regretted doing so.

The best was to describe the sensation was as if someone dumped icy hot on my head and that was what I was washing my hair with. It was not a great feeling at all. After try the whole kit my hair felt very brittle and I was even after to blow dry.

I did end up finally using some my normal hair care products to help. I will not be using this again. I definitely caution those with Thinning hair.

smells wonderful there is no medicated smell to it but once you use it you can feel medication treating not only your hair but your scalp. I’ve had really bad dandruff that I have been fighting for the last year and finally found something that treated it nearly instantly.

within 2 days it was gone. my hair is voluminous but also thin. meaning I have a looot of hair but it is not what I would call healthy thick locks. more like frail strands that are continually getting split ends even shortly after a trim.

When I bought this shampoo (and the conditioner) I was really hoping it would show improvement for my hair. I have a decent amount of hair loss, and thought the products would help with that. Unfortunately, I have seen no difference.

Although ginger helps with dandruff, it should also help with hair thinning and hair growth. I used the shampoo and conditioner for a long period of time and no difference was made on my end. It is a decent shampoo and conditioner, but didn’t help with my hair thinning.

The smell isn’t overpowering in the ginger department and it lathers well. It’s just not for me. I would honestly recommend the banana hair mask. That product has done wonders for my hair. Ironically, I would consider my hair to be “combination.

I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE DOESN’T HAVE ANY MORE FRIKKIN’ FLAKES! Not only that, but her scalp isn’t oily anymore, either! Her hair is normal again! I ordered 3 more bottles.

I want to make sure I’m always stocked up. because now, even my older daughter is enjoying it. She says her scalp isn’t itchy anymore!.

First, the pros: It smells AMAZING. I love the scent so much that I’ve been trying to find a perfume that smells like this, because the shampoo’s scent fades too quickly. Also, my hair looks and feels incredible — it really brings out the red highlights in my dark brown hair.

My hair is smooth, manageable, and even dries more quickly. The price is a bit high for what you get, but a little goes a long way (it helps if your hair is soaking wet when you apply), and the results are SO worth it.

But there’s a con, and it’s a huge one: Hair fall. I have protein-sensitive hair, and under ordinary circumstances would never have purchased this. But I tried a free sample and fell in love. The catch is I didn’t lose much hair during that first shampoo.

After about a month, though, I’m losing handfuls each time I wash. Enough that my 7yo son noticed and asked if I was ok. If your hair loves protein, you should try this shampoo. I’ve never noticed such an improvement in my hair just from one wash.

But if you have protein-sensitive hair, you might want to steer clear of this one.

I have very mixed feelings about this shampoo and conditioner. I have fine, brittle, frizzy hair, and I am ready to splurge on hair care. I don’t feel this product is worth the price. Initially, the shampoo is very thick and I found it hard to really distribute it in my hair.

The conditioner as well I had trouble saturating my hair with. Once I rinsed, I was really surprised by how my hair felt like straw and was more difficult to brush considering the hydrating claims. It did not feel nice.

Once my hair was dry and I brushed it again, I was pleasantly surprised by how much my usual frizz was reduced and and my hair looked healthy, although it was a little heavier than usual. All things considered, there are cheaper options that perform just as well or better.

My hair is color treated blonde, fine, and thin. I got the shampoo and conditioner based off of a YTer I love who also has dry fine hair, but sadly it’s not impressing me at all. I find the shampoo hard to make a lather even when emulsified with water before applying to scalp.

It smells fine to me like a faint realistic coconut but I’ve read other complain about it. My hair doesn’t feel extremely clean after just kinda clean although my roots don’t feel weighted down which is nice so I can go my usual 2-3 days between washes.

It’s really hard to comb through my mid lengths to ends after using the recovery set and it’s so hard to comb through. Because of that I won’t repurchase. Purology strength cure is still my fave and the Amika Kure performed better than this for me too although weighed my hair down faster in 1-2 days.
