20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For Blonde Highlights (2023 Updated)

I have white/silver bleached hair and this is the only purple shampoo I’ll use now. It never tints my ends purple/lavender, dulls my color, and keeps me so so bright without drying out my hair like a lot of other purple shampoos.

My hair is super soft when I use this even before I put in my conditioner. And a little goes SUCH a long way because it’s so pigmented, I only use about a nickle or quarter sized amount for my short, but thick, hair and it’s enough.

This bottle will last me forever. I’m usually super critical of purple shampoos to the point that the only other one I actually like is Shu Uemura’s crazy expensive one (Fanola sucks, Amika is harsh, Kerastase is lacking pigment, Matrix and Redken are splotchy, etc) but this works brilliantly.

I feel like a lot the bad reviews are from people who still don’t know how to properly use a toning shampoo or know what to expect from a professional/salon tier one – but you cannot treat this like a lot of other purple shampoos such as Fanola, Matrix, etc.

You MUST apply on damp hair to prevent staining and avoid getting the shampoo on your ends (the rinse off from the roots and mids is what tones the ends), really massage it into your hair to make sure the pigment is emulsified and spread out (should look like an almost pastel purple), and you shouldn’t leave it longer than about 5 minutes.

Even on my 2c/3a hair I can only do about 2min before rinsing. You also shouldn’t be using a whole lot of this or you increase the likelihood of having silver/purple hair. It spreads out a lot once you get it lathering! Add more if you need to, but start with just a little! If your hair is so brassy this is turning it purple, you’re either leaving it on way too long or your hair is super damaged and porous and needs a protein treatment first.

If your hair looks darker after, well, cool pigments look darker than warm pigments so that’s normal and not a fault of the product.

For me, this product is an absolute winner. I have ashy highlights which just love love love to go yellow on me. In one shampoo, leaving it on for just one minute, it toned them down. By the second, leaving it on for two minutes, they’re almost perfect.

Next time, I will leave it on for the full three minutes, but I preferred to go slowly just in case my results were not as expected. My highlights look so good, it looks as though I went to the salon and got them toned.

That is how good it is. A few tips for those who have complained about this shampoo. First, it is Sulfate free AND silicone free. It is a color toning shampoo, NOT a conditioning shampoo. I shampooed right before using it with Living Proof Restore, and then did a solid, good conditioning, my hair was left in great shape.

It also lathered just fine. If you hair is full of silicone residue, then maybe this shampoo is not enough to remove it. If you are not used to a sulfate and silicone free shampoo, you may feel like your hair is straw, but honestly, it feels like many other sulfate and silicone free shampoos if you don’t condition.

If you want a conditioning type of product there are other purple shampoos and conditioners that promise more conditioning. I LIKE this one BECAUSE I can then continue to use my own conditioning regimen.

Second, I wore gloves just to be sure the first time. No purple lingered on my hands at all, but, I was sure to rinse them off after applying and lathering and again after rinsing. No staining at all Third, was with any toning shampoo, I suggest starting slowly to see how your hair reacts.

Those folks who left it on five or ten minutes the first time – well, you can’t blame your oddball results when the instructions say leave on one to three minutes!.

Let me start by saying that I am thrilled Olaplex did not add dimethicone or other silicone in this shampoo! Another plus is that this is the most effective purple shampoo I’ve used, and I’ve tried them all.

I’ve seen some negative reviews, so I’ll snowball on those and give some solutions. Several of the top ingredients are surfactants/ lathering agents, which is odd bc this shampoo really struggles to lather, but it can account for the drying effect reviewers mentioned.

As for the waxy residue, this is probably due to the “coating” agent. I’ve experimented, and I’ve found some solutions that work for me. 1. Apply to the brassiest sections when hair is dry- do not apply to pale blonde hair, only to level 7 or darker orangey pieces- for 15 mins or so.

Hop in shower, wet hair, and use a mild shampoo to spread through rest of hair and rinse. 2. Use clarifying shampoo first, use Olaplex as directed and use a comb in shower to evenly distribute. 3. Mix with your regular shampoo so it lathers and spreads – this creates a subtler toning, but you can use it more often since the purple is diluted.

4. Yes, this will turn your hair purple if it used too long or on super light, porous hair. 5. To prevent staining your hands and nails purple, either wear gloves or wash hands immediately after application.

Like any pigmented hair product, this is meant to saturate whatever it touches. All that said, this is the best shampoo I’ve found to correct super brassy hair (when using the methods above).

The multiple benefits this shampoo provides anyone with blonde hair, whether natural or color-treated, are unparalleled by any other product on the market. It’s the best product available for keeping those brassy undertones at bay, and keep the platinum shades looking bright.

It may take a few Washes to get use to applying a very purple shampoo to your hair, but there’s nothing more effective for removing orange or brassiness from blonde hair. It’s so effective in fact, it can be used as a toner after you’ve bleached your hair to neutralize that ugly orangey color that’s inevitable regardless of your natural color.

We’ve all seen people walking around with that orangey hair with white roots after bleaching their hair. It’s not exactly the best look for anybody. Especially when it can be avoided and get more natural and blended results simply by applying this shampoo after you rinse the bleach out and letting it sit for a few minutes before rinsing out.

It works the same way as the toner your stylist would charge an arm and a leg for to tone your blonde at a salon. Immediately after rinsing the bleach from your hair, while it’s still wet, apply the shampoo and keep a constant eye on it.

Check your color every minute or so until you get the shade your trying to achieve, then rinse throughly followed by a deep conditioning treatment. Even if you don’t get all the brassiness out the first time, give your hair a break to let the follicles close for a few days then use it to tone your hair again.

But be warned, this product works FAST. Once your hair is the desired shade and free of brassiness, this shampoo with start to tint your hair purple if left on for more than a minute or so. But nothing works better to neutralize any orange or brassiness out of your hair.

The platinum blonde you would normally only get by spending over $100 at a salon can easily be achieved in the comfort of your own bathroom using only Clairol Professionaal Silver Lights shampoo.

I basically was a brunette most of my life and worse I had curly hair. So one day as a teenager I just tried to go blonde but wasn’t aware I needed a toner, uhm can you say hello lemonhead 🍋 and I don’t mean the band or the candy.

Well, after years I decided to try it again and I finally did it. But no thanks to this wonderful product right here from Clairol. Shimmer Lights not only helps take out the brassy look(although I do my hair myself, it’s way cheaper and with kids it’s in my lane) but it also helps bring out that beach blonde look most people go for.

I think I have harder time finding a bleach since I color my hair randomly through the year, no real reason as to why but I was always into a quick spur of the moment thing like that. I learned a quick hair dye(change) can really make you feel great, well at least for me.

Anyway this toner is perfect and it doesn’t have a heavy chemical smell or anything. It smells actually really decent. Definitely my go to when I am in the bleaching process, as I am currently. Worth the buy!.

This is a classic for blondes. If you have near white/lightest blonde hair this can dye it lavender. I specifically bought this a year ago to make my hair lavender. You leave it on about 15-20 minutes and you will have lavender/some lavender hues for about 1.

5 weeks. I also used this later on as a regular toning shampoo for my blonde hair and it works great. I have tried other purple shampoos that I like better. This is very drying and smells like faint musky cat pee smell with shampoo.

Those are my reasons for giving it a 4/5. Of course that scent washes out but it’s pretty strong when applying. I think Pravana has the best blonde products.

I applied the shampoo to my DRY hair and left it on for 5-10 mins. I rinsed it out and then applied the conditioner and left on for 5-10mins. Usually with a strong purple shampoo I will see a drastic lightening with some purple tones in it.

It lightened my hair however wasn’t the drastic change that I would expect from applying to dry hair. Overall: Pros – Nice scent Will help remove unwanted brass tones and lighten Cons- Not on the safer side for ingredients so I would not recommend for constant use While Redken / L’Oréal try to be free of animal testing for the most part, they do still “have” to animal test where required by law.

Meaning, they sell their products on mainland China where it is the law for cosmetics to be tested on animals prior to use. For me personally, the price point is too high for the result. I have received better results from more affordable purple shampoos that have safer ingredients and no animal testing I will be using these products occasionally when I need to brighten a little but won’t be purchasing in the future.

I read so many reviews that it’s messy etc and it’s a waste. Um, I purchased the travel sizes just incase it was a fail. I read the instructions and took advice from my hair stylist which was similar to the instructions and tbh it works for my hair.

I only use it once a week and I purchased the conditioner as well and use only a nickel size and it is enough for my entire hair. Yes your hands go blue but it goes away in the shower and no it did not stain my tub, my water was blue but it went clear so I figured okay it’s good.

I have blue free hands/skin and no stains in my tub. I use the cranberry color extend shampoo and conditioner during the week as well when I used my blue toning products during the week. Seriously am in love with my hair.

It isn’t frizzy and my waves are so nice I have gotten compliments lately and I’ve been doing this routine for over three weeks now. It’s soft and my hair really is long and thick. I hope this review helps someone and I use a small amount of almond oil in my scalp to moisture because it can dry your scalp a bit if your scalp is sensitive like mine because I love me some Selsun blue in my hair!!!! i haven’t used any though because it really has not given me any big issues due to applying some almond oil on my scalp (massage a little bit.

Read the instructions and respect the power! Redken did not scrimp on pigment. There’s a reason they say you should wear gloves to use it, which is ridiculous but whatever. Their purple conditioner is a pale color but the blue is just as dark as the shampoo.

It’s so dark! Take a washcloth or rag into the shower to wipe down the walls or it could end up looking like the scene of a smurf murder. Watch your cuticles, too! Rinse extremely well. It works! But if you have any highlighted areas you may need to mix it with a white conditioner to dilute all that BLUE.

Otherwise, it could stain your hair, which kind of defeats the purpose. I read reviews about it drying out people’s hair so mixing it with a deep conditioner might counteract that but I’m not a professional so conduct science experiments at your own risk.

MIRACLE!!! I’ve been a rouge member for a while and I’ve never written a review before… but this stuff is magic! I have hand tied and tape in extensions and they, for the first time ever in years of having blonde extensions, turned brassy.

My hair stylist told me I might have to buy new extensions (SUPER expensive plus these extensions are almost brand new). I was super depressed that I had paid so much money and my hair didn’t blend right with my extensions anymore.

And I really really really didn’t want to buy new extensions. So I tried this and I was so astonished that it worked that I did a happy dance in my bathroom! It looks icy again and blends perfectly with my real hair! I washed my hair with olaplex shampoo first then got out of the shower, towel dried my hair and applied the purple shampoo in front of the mirror to my extensions that were brassiest first, then the rest of my extensions which were less brassy, then my real hair.

I then set a timer for five minutes then got back in the shower and rinsed it really really well. Then I conditioned with olaplex conditioner, rinsed again, towel dried and applied the Kerastase blond absolu mask for damaged blond hair (NOT the one that is a purple hair mask for brassy hair, which kerastase also makes in the blond absolu line, but the one made just for processed blond hair that needs moisture) I left that in for an hour, rinsed thoroughly and towel dried again.

Then I applied olaplex leave in hair serum and rough dried my hair with a blow dryer, then when it was almost dry I put the kerastase blond absolu hair serum in (a little of these serums goes a long way!) and then finished blow drying.

My hair feels like silk!!! I was super afraid to try this bc I thought it might ruin my hair or make it super dry (my hair can get really dry if I don’t constantly moisturize and condition). But then I read that this isn’t even permanent and it will absolutely wash out so I went for it.

So my hair was damaged from bad salon experience and left there with blonde hair alright but also alotta my hair falling out too…. More than I should’ve had. I’ve had it done before I know what’s normal and not for this process but it Has taken me months and months to regain some of the structure and strength back but only from using products like this.

I have huge blonde hair care regiment but recently was sent this samples from Pinchme. com and I fell in love with this product the moroccanoil blonde perfecting shampoo and conditioner color care. I could tell after one use the different in my strands as far as they felt fuller softer and a lot stronger too.

I have already purchased my own and is in its way in the mail as we speak. But I can’t say enough about the shampoo seriously the strength added to my hair after using and the toning feature was amazing.

I have different depths of blonde and I felt that this made those lighter money pieces that perfect icy I’ve been looking for + strengthening in other product and only found here. Others I have to use separate product.

with moraccanoil u get it all in one tube!! Smell is beautiful the product color is rich purple and it won’t leave ur hair heavy or with residue. But clean and healthy feeling. I used as shampoo then rinsed … swueeze out all water from hair with hands and reapply from front hair line back to ur ends and massage thru without sudsing up the product and leave set for 10/15 minutes depending on how porous ur hair is.

(Do this for more toning effect) Mines was needing toned again and is pretty porous so I left in longer… but not too long. Anyhow I’d recommend to anyone who has chemically treated and or damaged hair needing give it some TLC.

Price is fair considering other brand and they dint work as well as this one trust me. I’ve wasted a lot of money trying to find the right ones to maintain my blond locks!! Also I left my conditioner in for about 5minutes too.

I have tried various purple shampoos over the years and was never super impressed with the results so they each got discarded after a few uses. However, then walks in Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo.

The smell was very pleasant which isn’t always the case with salon quality products and the shampoo itself was very silky and easy to use. I did use it as a second wash, first using a scalp scrub as I usually do.

It sudsed up very nicely and I left it in for about five minutes while I shaved and washed my face. After rinsing it out I used the Purple Conditioner, which I have to say I didn’t know was an existing product, and couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

Using the products together left my hair very smooth and smelling great. It was easy to style and I noticed a significant difference in the amount of frizz I usually have after letting my long hair air dry.

After my first use of this shampoo, I noticed a noticeable difference in the color and vibrancy of my “old” highlights. I can only imagine what the results would have been had my highlights been more recent.

I definitely recommend using both the shampoo and conditioner as I believe that combo really made a difference in the finished quality of my hair. The shampoo does tend to stain the skin around your fingernails but other than that I have zero complaints.

I will be buying the full-size versions of both the shampoo and conditioner during my next shopping trip. If you have highlighted hair, you need this product!.

I have always looked to Kerastase as a leader in ultra luxury hair care products. One of the first things I noticed when using this anti-brass purple shampoo was that I only needed a little less than a quarter size amount to get a full lather on my hair.

This is in contrast to having to use about a silver dollar size amount with other shampoos to achieve the same cleanliness. The fragrance was understated and a light pleasant floral. One of the features that I noticed on the front of the bottle was that it had hyaluronic acid in it and this appealed greatly to me.

Most purple or blue shampoos I have used to try to tone down the brassiness of my colored blonde leave my already parched hair very dry. This was not the case at all with the Kerastas blonde absolu shampoo.

In fact I was really pleased to notice that my hair was plump and healthy instead of dehydrated when I blew it out. I applied it as I would a typical shampoo and let it stay in approximately 3 to 4 minutes which is a bit longer than the recommended two minutes however I really had a great deal of yellow- orange brassiness that I wanted to tone down.

I followed with a hydrating conditioner and after styling I was completely surprised at how this shampoo changed my hair to a lightened cool blonde exactly as I desired. With an 8. 5 fluid ounce bottle this will last me a very long time because of its thickness and consistency.

I am thrilled that I finally found an anti-brass shampoo that not only works but helps to keep my hair healthy. I will definitely repurchase this product and recommend to all of my bleached blonde friends.

I received this product in exchange for a review. This product works pretty well but not out of the ballpark amazing. I am 6 months pregnant right now and currently have a hard time keeping up on my platinum blonde hair.

That being said thai product is pretty concentrated and does it’s job pretty well for the ends of my hair that are still very much blonde. I really don’t like the smell of this shampoo I think it is overwhelmingly resemblance of being in a salon and am pretty glad the scent does not continue far beyond the rinse.

As for if it improved my hair structure I would say I didn’t see any improvement there at all but I still have a full bottle despite using it daily. The yellow tone though is pretty much gone though.

I would recommend it if it were drastically price cut because the price tag associated with this product is way too high in my opinion I’ve used other products under 10 dollars with the same results that you can easily pick up at your local store.

I know the going trend is purple/grey platinum blonde, which I don’t think this would be the best for, but if u want to keep your warmth without being brassy, this works better than any purple shampoos I’ve used.

I have a lot of Irish heritage, pale skin and eyes, lots of light freckling in sun touched spots and firey red and gold inside my naturally brown follicles that shines very brightly in sun light. The warmth has become more pronounced with age and even the stripes of brunette that are left untouched after doing lightening balayage are a redening chestnut/auburn.

the warm blonde really compliments my coloring so I’m not complaining, I just don’t want it to be too yellow or too brassy. all of the other purple shampoos I have tried made my hair look almost green, even redken which I read was specifically recommended by experts for warm blondes, and it didn’t matter how quick I rinsed it out after applying,, it clashed with my hair coloring so badly.

I hated it. I was so thrilled to try this and find it actually worked perfectly, no brassy-ness or ugly yellow, just perfectly golden honey warm blonde and auburn/chestnut. I love ash blonde and the purple tinted platinum but this happy accident of a warm hair color works better on me than I’d have imagined and I’m so thrilled to find a way to maintain it.

idk about it being drying like some others said, I’ve found all purple shampoos to be a little drying, I assumed because they lather so well and also I do a pre-wash so there’s no product impeding it.

having color treated hair, I always add lots of super conditioning products, hydraters and proteins treatments before I’m done on wash day and also being a warm blonde, I only use purple shampoo once a month, preferably when it’s time for a clarifying cleanse and I do an oil treatment the night before.

I use the shampoo every two or three days a week. I have dark Burnette hair. The reason I bought this was because I have white blonde chunky highlights. When I first used it, I immediately felt that the shampoo gives a soft, luxurious lather.

Its very pigmented too. The purple is sparkly, deep purple, and has a scent of cucumbers. For those who don’t like cucumbers. you should probably take this out of your cart. Also, the toning. It took a few weeks for the toning to really show results.

But I love this product. I would buy it again, in the big size though. I enjoy using this shampoo even though I cut my hair boy short and don’t have my highlights anymore. It’s worth a buy!.

When i hi-light my hair blonde, this is the shampoo I like to use. It keeps the brassiness and the orange away on hi lighted hair. It makes the blonde tones bright and helps in keeping the hair smooth and not frizzy.

It smells great, I would recommend this to anyone who has colored blonde hair. It makes my hair feel so soft and helps my ends from looking fried. Paul Mitchell brand has been around for awhile, the price is definitely worth it!.

I have very very light blonde hair similar to the inside of a banana peel color after bleaching my light brown natural hair twice. I was fully expecting this to banish the yellow tones my t18 toner was not able to get in one tone to match the rest of my very ashy platinum white hair (It’s what I’ve been doing for years) like what the shimmer lights always did.

But this did absolutely nothing it seems like. I even put it on my hair again on my dry hair for around 30 minutes, washed it out, and my hair still had yellow tones in it like before. Long story short, do not buy this if your wanting a more silvery ash color hair.

This is for platinum blondes not for silvery super light almost white/silver hair.

I see many people complaining that this product doesn’t fully remove brassiness, so let me just clarify some things. I have tried many purple shampoos, and my hair is a balayage with grey/silver ends and my roots are a deep dark brown.

So the color between the dark brown and the grey is a little bit of a brassy blonde. When using this product, I realized the purple shampoo would keep my grey ends grey (and refresh it to a lavender grey color) but the brassy color in between the dark and light would sometimes shift, while some pieces would stay brassy.

My hairdresser recommended a blue shampoo for the stubborn pieces. So for those complaining about brassy hair, if your hair is on the darker side or is not shifting, it is crucial to use on those parts of the hair.

I use the fanola no orange on the brassy parts (make sure it sets for 20 minutes to have best results) and then blend in the purple shampoo on your lighter ends and on top of the blue shampoo. It helps to mix the two shampoos together and then let it sit on your hair for a FULL 20 minutes.

But I PROMISE if you do this combination, that your hair will blend out correctly, remove the brassy colors, and lighten your hair overall. I have had this color for 2 years now and this is the ONLY thing that works for me.

Not to mention that EVERY time I wash my hair, several people think I just got my hair done again! Make sure to use a great hair mask after every wash to prevent your hair from drying out. I use after every wash and let that sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing out.

Oh, and I’d your hair turns a little too purple for your liking, one wash without it should do the trick! Hope this helps! Xoxo.

This shampoo with the matching mask have me shook! Long story short my purple shampoo and conditioner weren’t cutting the brass out of my blonde like they usually do so I got both of these off the Fanola store on Amazon.

Let me tell you these are worth every penny! This stuff really brightened up my blonde to a entirely different level it’s that good. I see people on YouTube etc putting this on dry hair and letting it sit wich I didn’t do…what I did was shampoo with a basic shampoo first then rinse then went in with the blue shampoo.

This lathers up easily and I let it sit for about a minute then rinsed out (wich it did easily) then I got the mask and worked it through my length and used a tangle teaser brush to make sure all my hair was coated…left it in for a minute then rinsed out.

I put in my styling products etc and started blowing out my hair and as I was drying I could tell how significantly brighter my blonde was!! I wish I would’ve took a before and after because my results were that dramatic lol *It says it’s recommended to use gloves while using these but I didn’t and didn’t have any problems with my hands being stained blue….

after I shampooed my hands were a very light blue but by the time I was done showering etc it was off my hands completely. The only suggestion is after using the mask just to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.

So, i just want to say that I was very happy receiving a John Frieda brand hair product because of the very positive experiences Ive had over the years of using their hair care products.

This occasion was definitely consistent with the other positive experiences Ive had using John Frieda products. I was initially so happy to learn from receiving this product that finally there was a shampoo and conditioner that was supposed to deliver the same results for brunettes as the purple tinted shampoos and conditioners of various different brands claim to do for blondes.

The benefits of which are numerous indeed. I used this conditioner along with the shampoo that pairs with it as I know this would provide ultimately the more favored results. Upon using the product in shower, I noticed how vibrantly PURPLE the product was indeed! Whoa purple lol!! I have to say that i noticed a bit of purple staining on my hands after using.

However, after using my body wash after shampooing and applying the conditioner, it was basically all washed away for the most part! So that was a definite plus! The product had a nice scent and was a nice thick conditioning product.

I don’t see any other really negative reviews, which surprises me because this shampoo destroyed my hair. I used it once (to take out some of the brassiness from using John Frieda Go Blonder products), followed the directions, and when I went to wash out the shampoo, my hair was a single fuzzy, matted mass.

(Normally, I have straight hair that’s neither fine nor thick. ) I put in a ton of conditioner, and was finally able to separate it with my fingers. Trying to get a comb through it (more than a month after) is still hard because my hair became so ‘stretchy’ after using this.

I’ve tried conditioners for dry & damaged hair, detanglers, etc. – my hair is still a mess. I can’t wait for it to grow out so that I can chop off the damaged part. If I could pull off a pixie cut, I’d cut it all off now! My hair went from being the easiest part of my routine to being the hardest.

It seems to work for some people, but I’d recommend testing it on a small piece of hair before using it on your whole head. I’ve never had problems with John Frieda products before this, and my hair was always low maintenance.

A LOT. One of the results is that I took a bottle of bleach to my hair for the first time in my whole life and BOY. While I was going for blonde, I ended up with more of a gingery-orange, but that’s to be expected for someone with hair as dark as mine was before I decided to mess with it.

Enter this gift of a product. I’ve read online about how purple shampoos and conditioners are the go-to products for taking the brass out of bleached/colored hair and couldn’t wait to see if the claims were true.

Thank god (and John Frieda) that they are! Just after a couple of uses, I can see a huge difference in the color of my hair – the tone is a lot less of an off-putting copper and more of beautiful, rich gold.

As I touch up my roots, I’m definitely going to be buying more of this product (and the conditioner that goes with it) to make sure I get the color I want.

And since I can’t stand when my hair leans copper/yellow I *need* the purple shampoo to tone down the brassy tones. If you aren’t familiar with how purple shampoos work, it’s all based on colour science.

To counteract a specific colour, you need to use the shade directly across from the original shade on a color wheel. So to remove the yellow/brassy/orange, I’d need to use blue or purple. So I was quite surprised to see that the OGX purple toning Shampoo and Drops were so dark (the shampoo was an almost black but with cues that sparkled through of a dark blue with purple rays of sparkle – and I’m used to my purple shampoos looking exactly like a violet or yellow tone from (bed head) almost like a kids craft paint in the little set it comes in a Perry winkle if you will).

I thought that because they weren’t as pigmented as my previous purple shampoos, they wouldn’t work. However, after using it for the first time I was pleasantly surprised to catch a glimpse of my hair in the mirror and see how the highlights in my recently done hair popped! They were shiny, bright, and had a real vibrancy, which is usually hidden due to the brassy-ness.

The only downside I found is one that I find with all my purple shampoos, and that is that it made my usually dry scalp feel even more dry. All in all I love these products they’re affordable, they work and you can find them nearly ANY store or online!.

I have rated this five stars as I continually rebut this product. It’s always In my bathroom. I have naturally blonde hair which I do have coloured every few months to lighten it a little and this really helps to re brighten my hair.

I will say however that I have to change my shampoo and conditioner regularly as it almost stops working on my hair but I do always go back to this product however I only use this a few times a month, and it helps maintain not only my colour but doesn’t strip my hair and make it feel dry when washed.

I also love the biotin and collagen shampoo/conditioner by OGX, these are great products which can be used daily without the overuse of chemicals that lost shampoos have in them.

First time trying a purple shampoo that is not from a professional beauty brand and I am pleased! The scent is very nice and leaves your hair smelling wonderful! The color of the shampoo is very dark purple and contains a lot of pigment, which I like because it makes me feel like the product works better at knocking out the brass.

This lathered better than other purple shampoos that I have tried. I have only used once and I already saw a change in the tone of my hair. It definitely works! I will continue to use to see even better results.

The good thing is this is way more reasonably priced than other well known brands! I also like how this made my hair soft and silky and did not dry it out like some other brass eliminating shampoos. It doesn’t seem to be as harsh on your hair and does not strip it.

I will continue to use and I will recommend to my blonde babes!.

I received free samples of the JOHN FRIEDA Violet Crush Purple Shampoo & Conditioner from PINCHMe to review. I don’t have blonde hair so I gave this to a blonde haired friend to try out. Here’s what she had to say: Shampoo lathered well and very few tangles after conditioning.

It did turn down the brassiness without making my hair look too ash blonde. I think for the price point it holds its own. I don’t like it as well as some similar shampoos and conditioners sold in salons, but I do like the price point! What I dislike: I was underwhelmed by the smell not a whole lot to it.

One day after use my hair does feel a little more weighed down and more oily then normal. I have super thick hair (about to the middle of my back) and almost used the entire bottle of both samples to really make it feel like I’d worked it from Root to Tip.

– Overall, I would consider buying this brand if I didn’t already get my salon brand purple shampoo/conditioner from my hairdresser mom for free/really cheap. :).

I have such a large collection of purple shampoos that I I expected little from Olaplex’ s new product, even though I love their shampoo and number 3. But I purchased Olaplex purple just to try it, and I bought their conditioning mask as well for after the purple shampoo.

I am so pleased with the results. The combo of their recommended regular Olaplex bond shampoo, purple shampoo and then their beautiful mask left my hair shiny, soft and strikingly a paler blond with far less lurid, gold highlights.

I left it on 4 minutes only because my timer sound on my phone was off, but clearly there were no adverse effects. I am very happy with the results and don’t dread looking in the mirror. It’s surprising how pigmented the Olaplex purple version is! I gave the product 4 stars only because these products are pricey, and there may be a way of getting similar effects with less financial investment.

But I have very fine hair, so for me, it’s not such a hardship. That being said, I’ve never had such terrific results. My ends aren’t too ashy gray or purple as with other purple shampoos, and most of the very blond highlights are no longer brassy but appear lighter.

I have to add I will not be highlighting my hair until it grows out because I’m tired of the damage and breakage of bleach on my fine hair. It’s been about 3 months since my last partial. My natural color is a light to medium ash brown.

Now I can survive this grow out period with pretty, well-conditioned hair. So I won’t have to further bleach my hair at the salon while I’m growing out my yellowish blond. Nor do I have to be tempted with the look you get after a salon visit.

Just regular haircuts. So these products have made my life better. Perfect for the ombre look I will be having for years:).

I heard SO much hype about this company and was excited to try it out as my hair was damaged by chemical processing at a salon. However, I’m Very disappointed overall… I bought the full recommended products for my hair and some extras as my hair is really long… based on their quiz…however my hair is so now MORE dry and frizzy from it… Worse than it was before! The only product I felt was nice to use was this shampoo because it felt very moisturizing and didn’t feel like it stripped my hair…until I added the conditioner…then after rinsing it my hair felt so dry and crunchy! I also am not impressed with the smell of the products.

I like my hair to smell really good and last… but this doesn’t do it for me. Each product smells different and you can barely smell them. and I don’t like mint smell in my hair products unless it’s a clarifying product.

The other thing about this company I was not impressed with was their lack of customer service! If you buy from the company directly and need to return your products for a full refund, you have to mail it all the way to California and you have to pay for shipping and also don’t get your initial shipping cost returned! And then you have to WAIT till they get it in the mail before they refund you anything… There needs to be a better system where you can initiate a return and get a shipping label.

To return it, like all other companies do now in this age…very backwards. Won’t purchase this again and especially not from them!.

This is my ride or die haircare line. Everyone’s hair is different right, so results may vary. I have fine, straight slavic hair. For me, this whole line does it all. Shampoo lathers and cleanses well, conditioner is moisturizing and repairs damage.

Color correction works perfectly. My hair doesnt break as often anymore. It feels thicker and stronger like Barbie hair. Remember how the hair felt on a Barbie doll? That’s how this line makes my hair.

It’s 100% worth every penny. If I’m already spending nearly $2000 per year on color services alone, it’s worth protecting my investment by using great products.

Not horrible but definitely not great. I was really hoping this to be my holy grail of purple shampoos as I personally like to stick with the same brand for hair care and not switch around. I use all the other Oribe hair products and when my highlights started to look a tad yellow I purchase this purple shampoo along with the matching conditioner.

However, this shampoo is deceiving. When I poured it in my hands I was in Heaven when I saw how dark the purple color was which normally is a indicator that it’s going to knock that yellow right out.

That didn’t happen. Not the first time I used it nor the second nor the third. My hair is still that yellow color. No matter how many times I use the shampoo and conditioner and no matter how long I leave it in ….

nothing!!!! Waste of time and money. It also gives my hair static. I don’t know what’s up with that but every time I use this shampoo and conditioner my hair sticks out every time I run my brush down my hair.

The other Oribe hair products don’t do this. This is a miss for me. So thankful I bought the travel size first.

Before finding about this product I had a hard time looking for a product that would help my oily and flaky scalp. I’ve used other brands and it has developed a build up on my scalp and it made it even more oily especially when I don’t wash my hair within 3 days.

First time I’ve used this product I was surprised at how much you get just from a little pump! Do not use too much as it is foam! I apply a pump on my hair and the smell is amazing and notice that it worked immediately.

Noticed that results showed immediately after one use, my hair isn’t oily after 3 days and not much flakiness. Definitely worth the price you’re paying!.

Incredible conditioner. My cousin got me this, the shampoo, hair mask and dry shampoo all in a kit for my blonde hair for Christmas. It’s purple conditioner, very thick and smells amazing. Makes the shower fun too because it gets your hands purple and the water turns purple when rinsing this out amongst the soap/foam being purple so it’s super fun and different!! Positive to being blonde is using this and it being so amazing.

Salon quality, plumps up your hair and doesn’t dehydrate the scalp or your strands. Feels amazing, slick and smells delicious. Hair feels, smells and looks like you just got it washed at the salon after using this.

No joke. I plan on buying the bigger bottle of this and shampoo when i’m finished with the minis I currently have. If you have blonde hair, get this. You won’t regret it!!.

I bought this conditioner because my usual Aveda Blue Malva shampoo was out of stock everywhere. My hair is lightened from its natural blonde to an almost white blonde (think Billy Idol or Marilyn Monroe) and it can get brassy between touch-ups, so I occasionally use Blue Malva to remove brassiness, leaving it on for a few seconds to do its work.

This conditioner was promising because right out of the bottle, it is very dark purple. I used it the way that I use Blue Malva, and I noticed no improvement in my brassiness. The next day, I let it sit on my hair longer, massaging it into areas where there was more brassiness, giving it about 8 minutes to do its job before rinsing it out.

I noticed no improvement in the brassiness, but I did have parts of my hair that were noticeably purple. And my hair was considerably dryer and rougher than usual.

I have always highlighted my hair and I wanted to give Amika’s Bust Your Brass Blonde Purple Shampoo and Amika’s Bust Your Brass Blonde Conditioner. I decided to purchase the Mini size which you would get 2 ounces for 2 reasons.

The first reason is because I was going on a trip and didn’t want to carry the full size. The second reason I purchased a mini size was just in case I didn’t like it. Just like the Shampoo, the conditioner was also purple.

It’s supposed to work hand in hand with the Shampoo. Just like the Shampoo, all hair types can use this conditioner. All textures can use this Conditioner as well. I wasn’t a fan of the Shampoo and I found the Conditioner to be ok.

It did help with making my hair soft, easy to detangle my hair. I did enjoy reading how it’s free if sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes and many other chemicals. This product is also cruelty- free, gluten-free, and comes in recyclable packing.

I will not be purchasing this product.

i don’t usually leave reviews on products, and i’m not usually amazed by them either. usually purple shampoos help a little with reducing brassiness and lightening the blonde in my hair but honestly, generally don’t do much for me except make a very subtle difference- but oh my god this shampoo makes my hair the way i always dreamed of having it.

i could never get it to be the whitish platinum i wanted, even with bleach and purple shampoos. but this takes away all the brassiness, makes my hair bright and platinum. and OMG, it smells amazing too, like cinnamon spice.

i’m so in love with this shampoo and i feel like i owe the company a review!!! this is a hidden gem that i’m so happy i found- i literally purchased it on a whim bc i needed to restock on shampoo and was happily surprised.

Clairol ($13cad on sale/$20 reg for 931ml) had a lot of pigments which helped toned my hair down and over time with continued use my blonde appeared brighter. I liked this because it was a big bottle for the price you pay with a pump that made it easy to use.

My hair felt healthy and soft after using because I find that usually drugstore colour depositing shampoos dry out your hair and doesn’t add in any hydrating benefits. While Fanola is really well known for their purple shampoo but they are expensive ($22cad on sale/$87 reg for 1000ml).

Their shampoo is perfect for ash hair; going from blonde to platinum ash grey. The John Frieda purple shampoo does not work ($13cad for 250ml).

I tried this after seeing a YT Video by Southern Charm’s hairdresser. I have long hair with natural curl and live in a coastal area so my hair can go from flat ironed straight to full blown Diana Ross in little time.

Dream Coat works great but after seeing the video on this, wanted to try it. I have healthy hair and like to use nourishing products. I’ve tried other oils but they felt greasy to me and I would have to wash daily.

This did not leave my hair “greasy” at all! My hair was smooth, soft and felt so good. Had a blow out look and did not need to use my flat iron. I’m a fan for sure and will use this every time before I dry my hair.

It held volume good and stayed soft all day / night.

I really wanted to love this blue shampoo and conditioner. I have been using different brand blue shampoos for awhile and decided to splurge on this one. Unfortunately it made my balayage super brassy and Orange.

I immediately stopped using it after a month of giving it a shot. Once I went back to my joico blue shampoo my hair immediately got rid of the brassy look after one wash. I was bummed because I had high hopes.

I am brunette with not chemically treated hair, I decided to give my hair more cooler tone, unfortunately it didn’t work, besides my hair got darker on one to two shades. However, I give 4 stars because this shampoo gave me different effect with which I am super happy.

My hair also straight and flat with super oily scalp, so what I do I wash my hair with densifying shampoo first, then for second wash I use Cool Brunette Shampoo using exfoliating brush and let it sit for few minutes.

Let me tell you it worked amazing, I ended up with beautiful volume and my hair stays clean for 3-4 days, while before I had to wash my hair almost every day. The smell it’s a little bit strong but I don’t mind it.

This is my first time trying any KERASTASE products and I am blown away!! I was gifted the Blond Absolu shampoo and rinse out from BZZAGENT in exchange for my honest review. First off the bottles are absolutely gorgeous I love the color and the shop bottle is such a different look! The scent is a very light flowery smell, it is very nice and the scent seems to linger.

The shampoo lathers extremely well and upon rinsing your hair tends to feel very dry. I am undecided how I feel about that part because on one end I hate it feeling dry but it also feels very clean. Then once you apply the rinse out your hair automatically feels so hydrated! I normally have to use a detangler but I did not have to after using these products! My hair felt so soft and fluffy.

I also noticed my hair to be a bit lighter than normal. The shampoo is supposed to “immensely hydrate fiber and removes impurities to illuminate hair. ” I absolutely loved these products and will be purchasing once I run out!!.

I was pleasantly surprised by this product! brunette who decided to experiment going blonde about a year ago. I’ve used purple shampoos from brands like Redken from the recommendation of my stylist with what felt like minimal results for $$$.

When I got this in the mail I was excited but honestly a little nervous (like any blonde that uses a new product. ) If you decide to try this make sure to manage your expectations. This will NOT, I repeat NOT lighten your hair.

If anything you might even feel like it’s the tiniest bit darker. BUT with that being said I didn’t even know my hair was brassy until I used this product and immediately saw a difference. My hair felt shinier, ashier (in a good way) and overall better.

I can’t comment on the quality of the ingredients but I’m impressed!.

I received this product complimentary in a voxbox. I will say this product definitely works. However I have red hair not blonde. It did strip out some of the darker tones in my hair making it lighter (I didn’t hate the end result).

This shampoo is not recommended for red hair especially red hair that is dyed. Although most red dyes have purple deposits and red deposits in them the purple cancels out the yellow/ golden tones. Overall the product did as it described it smells amazing and you do definitely get results from day one.

I used this product for several shampoos and this bottle will definitely last you a long time. Pictured from top to bottom is day one, day four and finally day seven.

I used this shampoo years ago when it came in the white bottle with the grey label. Bought it after my recent salon visit for help toning down the yellow (stylist didn’t leave toner on long enough). Left it on for 2-3 mins- didn’t do a thing.

Then left it on 5 more mins- still nothing. Then left it on my dry hair for 12 mins– still absolutely no change. Yesterday I left it on dry hair for 20 mins and it brightened it, but did not tone it down at all.

Colour is still just as brassy. Very disappointed that the effectiveness of this line has gone downhill over the years. Would not recommend. Will try Joico next. (Can’t use Shimmer Lights because it makes me break out wherever it touches- but that stuff will tone the colour down in 30 seconds).

So Silver is also very drying, which most purple shampoos are, but this makes wet hair feel like tangled straw.

I have never written a bad review for a shampoo and conditioner until now. Usually purple shampoo will just do the job and smell good and that’s all I ask for. But this product smelled so bad that I chose to mask the scent using a totally different conditioner afterwards.

In addition to that I left the purple shampoo on for the maximum time required and it didn’t look like it really did anything except for dry out my hair. Honestly I would recommend spending you money on a different product.

I’m very surprised that this is rated so high.

I use Matrix So Silver Color Shampoo when my hair is too yellow or brassy. I highlight my hair at a salon and sometimes it becomes too yellow in between my appointments. I don’t recommend to use all the time but I do use a few times depending on what my what look I am looking for.

The directions call for a couple times a week but that is too often for my hair highlights I am going for. The shampoo is a good way to brighten and banish unwanted yellow tones of yellow and add more of a platinum or silver tone.

I recommend for hair that’s needs to refresher to remove yellow tones and get back platinum.
