20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For 4C Low Porosity Hair (2023 Updated)

I love this stuff so so so much. I have bought at least 15 bottles. It’s my go to leave in conditioner. I am not huge on doing my hair and this takes all the effort and hard work out of it for me. My hair is very damaged in the ends and frizzy and when I apply this stuff after the shower my hair dries beautifully.

I do have wavy hair and it leaves it straighter, but I’m okay with that because it looks so neat. I even use it as a pomade for my dry hair, and it doesn’t leave my hair feeling hard or look weird like some products do, as long as you work it in and use a smaller amount.

One bottle lasts me up to three months. I get compliments on the smell all the time. And it’s cheap compared to other products of the same caliber. the only downside that I really wish Shea moisture would fix is the packaging can make it very hard for the product to come out of the bottle, I think it would work much better if the packaging was a different shape, but I can overlook this because I love the product so much, but fixing the bottle would throw it completely over the top for me.

I do not like this new formulation. I LOVED this previous formulation and would recommend this product to everyone. It is apparent that there is little shea butter in the new formulation. The coconut oil in the new formulation is not making this a good product.

I will no longer use Curl & Style Milk. I have informed everyone that I recommended this product to about the formulation change. Please stop changing product formulations that we like. If you want to try a new formulation, please continue to offer the previous formulation that we liked so much.

The only thing that I can think of why you changed the formulation is that coconut oil is cheaper for you than shea butter. It’s always about money for these large conglomerates, not about the customer experience.

I am very disappointed.

I may be an anomaly – my hair is fine, and most might recommend a lighter conditioner for my type. My hair is often on the dry side, porous, easily damaged. I lost my hair to aggressive chemo years ago, my hair now is unlike the thick, ultra curly hair I once had.

I find thick, deep conditioning works best for my hair. Being a Palmer`s user for decades, I was happy to receive both products from a product test and review program I’m a member of. The conditioner is thick, a pudding consistency, with so much nice slip.

Little is needed to massage and coat my hair. Fairly non drip, but I do use a cap. The scent is wonderful of coconut, shea, and tiare flower thanks to the lovely ingredients that also include other natural seed and fruit oils.

Feels ultra pampering. Conditioner rinses out cleanly, hair not left greasy , but tangle free and soft, so healthy. I noticed such a difference with calmed frizzies, shine, utter softness. Hair not weighed down, but has bounce, and my “old” inherited waves and curl patterns that want to pop up do so more defined and softly.

I used this conditioner as a cowash, though it is deep – I had applied rather sticky and long lasting root lifter, and a mousse into my hair, heat styled, and it was a loong night – the conditioner cut right through the products , cleansing it from the products, relieving my hair , brought new life, and I was ready to go with fresh hair.

The Palmer`s Length Retention Glaze Serum is lightweight, clear, fast absorbing – imparts moisture, shine, and most important to me is the protection. It seems to be such a clean product in appearance, does`nt leave my hair weighed down or greasy.

Calms frizzies, ends are evenly moisturized, smooths, hair looks and feel healthy, I have been using daily as a light protectant – not light in performance, but not as heavy as some oils can be, more of an everyday treatment than a heavy, often greasy one.

It does not compete with other hair products, works well and enhances. I use in conjunction with the Palmer`s deep conditioner – seen in photo posted – but also anytime with any other shampoo and conditioning.

I`ve used as a treatment to scalp and hair when my hair has been distressed, to wash and rinse out easily and cleanly – and another point, I have used this oil as an everyday protectant, and treatments, to wash out cleanly only using a conditioner as a cowash.

I cannot hardly say that other oils and oil treatments will cowash out so cleanly without left over greasies. The scent is a combo of clean and tiare. Nothing strong, ultimately pleasant. I recommend both Length Retention products by Palmer’s.

I tried this product in two ways. I tried it as it was recommended, which was to use heat for deeper penetration and the other was leaving the deep conditioner on for 30-40 minutes. I feel like doing it these ways got me the samw result which is great for people who dont like using heat at all.

Using this helped me detangle my hair because it gave enough slip from how moisturizing it is. Also, my half of my hair has been bleached twice and the color immediately after. That side of my hair had been limp for so long until i started using this for weeks.

I want to add emphasis on weeks because its not a fast process and it took multiple uses to start seeing my curl pattern get stronger. My only complaint is that spreading it can be a little bit hard and you might have to use alot to fully saturate the hair if you long hair.

This is also not buttery enough for curlier hair, like 3c to 4c hair. (in the picture i did finger coil my hair but everything i said still is relevant. The pink side of my hair didnt even want to coil before i started using this.

I am currently a colored natural with 3C/4A medium porosity hair. It’s really, really hard to find a product that will work with my texture but this is my go to conditioner! This product leaves my hair extremely moisturized and it feels like silk without the extra frizz.

This is especially important to me while living in the South Florida humidity. The consistency is perfect and not heavy at all. The scent is divine while not being so overbearing or perfumed.

I use this for my Wash days. I love this conditioner so much. My hair feels so hydrated after I rinse this product out my hair. I do notice that my hair is less frizzy too. I love TGIN and their products.

Very very moisturizing! It’s such a good deep conditioner. I have low porosity hair and my hair felt so soft and moisturized after using it. You don’t need too much product since it spreads well. Definitely one of the best products in the line.

I am a 4a fine type, low porosity hair type and this product threw the moisture balance from my hair. I attempted to use the product similar to other deep conditioners. (2 times a week), but that was too much.

If you have really dry hair, this product will moisturize and bring it back. However, if your hair is already moisturized, it could throw the balance off. Anyway, pleasant smell that lingers after washing.

The 15-ounce bottle will last a long time. I have had the product a month with 5-6 uses and still haven’t reached half of the container.

This is probably one of the worst conditioners I’ve tried. My hair felt like straw after using this and I wasn’t going to use any more but I found if I pair it with this milk mask I have by Garnier it will work fine but all on its own is a big fat NO.

The conditioner was very. fine. For reference, I have thin, straight, and fine hair. The ends are dry and damaged from residual hair dye, but my actual hair issue is that it tends to be oily/greasiness at the roots.

I use an additional detangler (the John Freida anti-frizz leave-in serum in the purple bottle) for that. It’s not actually THAT moisturizing (but it didn’t dry my hair either, so that’s good). I’m sure it did some moisturizing, but just not a whole lot.

The bottle design is awful. I saw people’s reviews include this comment about the bottle, and I thought, “why are people so concerned about the bottle?”. But as soon as I first tried to squeeze out the conditioner, I understood.

There isn’t enough pressure to squeeze out the contents, and the bottle’s material is a hard sort of shell-like plastic that isn’t soft or flexible enough to squeeze, the neck of the bottle is too long and conditioner gets stick in there.

TLDR I only keep the bottle upside down to get the stuff out. Basically I’m not sure it lives up to its claim of being very moisturizing for dry and damaged hair. But it smelled nice.

After i started using this product i started losing so much more hair than usual. I’m talking like 4x the amount i usually lost before. And any time i brush my hands through my hair i lost a few strands.

If i wore a black shirt there would be so many hair strands on it at the end of the day! I never had this issue ever until i used this. My hair is wavy and is not sensitive. Beware! Also, if that’s not bad enough it doesn’t lather.

So I give this product 2 stars, for many reasons. My hair type: my hair is thick & coarse, very prone to frizz. My hair gets very dry and oily if I don’t use the correct products. My hair is wavy, but when properly hydrated it curls into nice ringlets.

So the product smells VERY GOOD, but it is VERY watery. My hair type needs thick conditioners without too many fillers or my hair ends up dry and brittle — and it is not because of damage. I have been using the NEXXUS Humectress for years because it is thick but not heavy and it does what it is supposed to.

While this conditioner is not thick and rather watery, it leaves my hair feeling weighed down & I never apply it on my scalp. Additionally, i have no curls or ringlets, my hair dries in this straight-ish frizzy state.

Because the product is so watery you need A LOT to achieve a conditioned feel while in the shower. I personally did not experience hair loss while using this product. Additionally, I didn’t experience “itchy scalp” like I usually do with drugstore shampoos that are very fragranced, so that’s good.

I’ve tried other hair conditioners and never felt what I feel with this one it’s absolutely amazing. It it very light on my hair and has kept my hair feeling very hydrated. We have kids our selves with curly hair which is also why we went and tried product out on all our messy hair lol.

After using it our hair was shiny, soft and a lot less messy. I started feeling a very clean feeling. It’s smell interesting more of a natural smell. I would definitely recommend to everyone with frizzy hair and want a clean feel and hydrated feeling.

i never write reviews for anything but holy cow this quite literally saved my hair. for reference i have a mix of 2b, 2c, and 3a hair due to years of coloring and heat damage. i have quite a bit of hair and it’s thick, low porosity, and protein sensitive.

no matter what “hydrating” products i’ve used my hair has always felt dry and never absorbed anything i put in it. i got my colored red hair retouched recently and not quite sure what my stylist used to treat my hair this time around but it came out sooo dry and brittle.

after some research and finding out more about my hair type i decided to try this plus the conditioner that goes with it. and wow is all i have to say. i’ve never had hair this soft straight out the shower and it’s so easy to comb through now.

I recently came across an article about hair porosity, which I’d never heard of, and discovered that I have low porosity hair. All my life, I’d been using the wrong type of products on my hair. I did a lot of research and this product always came up in the discussion.

So, the shampoo and leave in hoping it would do something for my dry gummy feeling hair. Oh. My. Goodness. My hair has never felt better! I’ve tried other products since discovering ya’ll, but I always have to rewash with your products.

Please don’t discontinue. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to moisturize my scalp without making my hair oily.

I’m giving this product three stars only because of it’s good scent and the cleaning sensation it gives. However, four days after shampooing my hair, which I do once a week, I suddenly got a bunch of product buildup, without using any products except my shampoo and conditioner.

Last week, I washed my hair expecting no itching because all the buildup was taken off, but as soon as I got out the shower, my head started flaking sooner than usual. This doesn’t happen with sheamoisture’s other shampoo, the curl glam one, which removes my buildup of dirt and oil way better than this one did.

Still, it could work for others, as you could see in the other reviews, but if you have low porosity hair with a dry scalp, it won’t work as well.

My far THEE best conditioner for moisture hands down. I even use it to mix my henna treatments sometimes. When something goes wrong and my hair feels wacky I use this on my texlaxed tresses. Works good on by kids’ natural hair as well ranging from 3c-4c.

Received another free sample from Influenster! I’ve included that I’m bald, so deep conditioner wouldn’t serve as useful for me – BUT! Not only do I have a 14 Year Old youth with a high curly top fade cut but I used this as a shaving cream for my head and yes yes yes.

We both love it. We washed my 14 Year Old’s hair, and then applied the deep conditioner, leaving it in for about an hour and then rinsed it out. First thing he noticed was the scent – he liked that, he mentioned as well as I.

My shaver glided across my head with no issue lol! He tends to untwist his twists while he’s off somewhere else and it appears to change the curl design in his hair. Thankfully after washing and conditioning, it came back.

I applied a curl cream after to keep it on point and an oil to seal in the moisture. He appreciated the mini spa treatment he received (I used to have a head full of hair, so I conditioned and styled my hair differently all the time) and said he likes the conditioner.

Not only does Shedavi’s moisturizing shampoo have a pleasant fragrance to it, it really works in helping to stop the hair fall and makes my coarse hair feel softer afterwards. Before trying Shedavi’s crowned moisturizing shampoo, my hair was noticeably dry and falling out even though I was shampooing my hair with a sulfate free shampoo which is suppose to help stop the hair fall.

I was using the Kristen Ess co wash (not clean!) before this and this is far superior. I have recently become a lot more conscious about the ingredients in my products and I have 3B/3C curls. That Kristen Ess co wash was like any other conditioner but they just packaged it as a co wash.

You can actually tell this Shea moisture product is unique and has its own qualities. It’s not quite a shampoo nor is it quite a conditioner… It is somewhat in between. I felt that it was so effective in removing buildup simply by massaging it into my scalp for a few minutes.

It also smells amazing!.

To start, this conditioner is in my opinion the best smelling, detangling miracle I have ever used. I have THREE daughters 1 with thick wavy small s curl patterned hair I think 3c. 1 with thick wavy big s curl patterned hair and 1 with literally a mix of both top half of her hair has med s curls and the back has small s curls.

And they all have a coarse patch right on the top middle of their heads, smh. I said all of that because THIS conditioner softens, smooths, absolutely detangles and has a lasting scent for a few days.

I looove this stuff and the funny thing is I have never tried on my hair. I have other Shea moisture favs for my hair. But PLEEASE give moms like me a larger bottle, a leave-in spray or cream for styling, and maybe a serum for moisture and shine.

Okay so I’m a wavy girl, but most importantly my hair is BRITTLE, fine, porous, & dry all the time. It breaks like nobody’s business. I literally thought that was just going to be my life forever until I tried this shampoo.

I’d been using AsIAm cowash for years but wanted to find a black owned brand. I LOVE this product. I have thick, 4b natural hair and this product helps me detangle as well as AsIAm did. The smell is quite lovely too.

Now for the KICKER. My husband has 3-type hair and seborrheic dermititis. We’ve been looking for over a DECADE for products to relieve his symptoms. We’d tried tea tree oil products, black seed oil, zinc based, and all the other shampoos recommended but nothing worked.

I wondered if shampoos in general are too harsh and tried this cowash and it’s the BEST product we’ve had results with. His scalp does not flake up as quickly (might see flakes day 5-6 after washing) and the flakes are smaller.

🙏🏾 This product is actually GENTLY CLEANSING his scalp. We have not had issues with any type of build up yet on either of our scalps or strands. I use natural products to help prevent that. Me: Miche leave in, Jamaican black castor oil and coconut oil mix, and aloe Vera gel.

Him: Miche leave in and jojoba oil. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a gentle and moisturizing cleanser.

I did not use this product start to finish because I switched to the TGIN shampoo instead because my scalp was in 100!!! It smells amazing and did not irritate my scalp in the least I just wanted a fresh start and decided to use the shampoo.

I generally co-wash when I am going to keep my hair curly so I am excited for this product specifically for this function. I am a little biased because I purchased the entire line with the exception of the styling gel and another one of the conditioners and they have all be !!!!THE BOMB!!!!! I have a dry tangled mess by the end of seven days wearing a wash and go using regular-degular products I get from TAR-jay but only a few of them (not the ones in my regular line up) have been as good as TGIN.

If you like to concept of co-wash get this because to lessen the risk of irritating your scalp which is a primary concern for me.

I have below shoulder length, blonde waves. They can go very curly with the right products, and almost straight with the wrong ones. There’s something in TGIN Cowash that causes the waves to spring up.

I’m not even sure what it is, but I can feel it even while my hair is wet. Once a month, after an oily massage, I’ll use a regular shampoo to remove the oil from my scalp, but otherwise, this cowash is all I use.

It took me months of trial and error with dozens of cowashes to settle on this, after I had a bad experience with Deva NoPoo, after using it for almost a decade. I removed one star because I HATE the smell.

It smells like bubblegum. I actually add some Rain scented essential oil to every bottle, to make the scent more tolerable.

I picked this up not expecting it to be more than a conditioner with “slip” to help me detangle nothing more. But i put it on and i was pleasantly surprised It smells amazing i cant really compare it but it smells like a fresh clean light floral scent.

I have 3C natural African American hair and it is usually dry and I have very sensitive skin so i have a hard time finding products, but this was so good i want to try others from this line. my hair was soft and smooth and my lifeless curls are bouncy.

The only con I would say is that a little doesnt go a long way for my hair so I feel im going to run out quickly. I wish they would make a bigger bottle or refills.

This product left little white balls of residue in my hair. Just to make sure it was the product, I washed my hair again. Then I used some more Aunt Jackie and the residue appeared again. Thought I was buying a good leave in conditioner, definitely was wrong.

Love aunt jackie’s. Gives you volume, no frizz, and best of all light weight bouncy curls! I believe the company also has products for kinkier hair ! My Favorite is most likely the curl custard !! #AuntJackie’s.
