20 Best Sfx L Power Supply (2023 Updated)

So I’ll say my Con comes from owning and having used tons of SFX PSU’s. I’ve primarily built in ITX and SFF builds for at least 7 years now and let me tell you legitimately that this PSU is LOUD. My current build I use both for productivity work flow and recreation wise for gaming.

During work hours using the simplest programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom. heck, even Idle, the Fan for this PSU is loud. Randomly even it ramps up RPM’s for a few seconds (very very audible) then ramps back down but is still audible even at low RPM.

To add to that, working remotely at home and in a more controlled environment of noise this thing can be heard over my EVGA 3090 at 30% (900 RPM) fan speed and 2x 140mm fans at the same RPM. but even when I have no virtual meetings, windows are open and there’s residual noise from outside (dogs barking, cars passing by).

you can still hear the fan on this PSU, especially when it randomly decides to ramp up. The PSU itself works fine, there’s no faulty fan bearing or anything and my overall temps are very good during idle, light workloads and respectable even while gaming.

This PSU simply just manages the fan poorly. this is coming from actually owning/using a Corsair SF 600 Gold, 750 Platinum, Seasonic Focus SPX 750 Platinum, Cooler Master v850 Gold and Silverstone SX 700 Platinum that I can back this claim up and say it’s by far one of the worst in terms of DB (how audible it is) and the way the PSU manages the fan.

Kind of disappointing really considering EVGA products are usually great. Sad to say, but I definitely wouldn’t buy it again. If i needed this kind of wattage or something rated close to it, I would recommend the tried and true Corsair SF750 or Seasonic SPX 750 if you absolutely don’t need 850W and aren’t pushing extra voltage via manual OC’ing, and the CM V850 if you truly do need that much wattage.

EVGA has had my business over the last 7 years. I’ve purchased their g3 and t series psus and countless(20+) video cards since the gtx 600 series. Impeccable quality and superb customer service. This PSU is no exclusion.

It is silent, even with a 90% load, the fan is barely audible. The sole reason for deducting a star is because the power supply cables included are still using the same ugly braided netting and at each a very stiff heartstrings wire tube with heavy adhesive to fuse it.

I have never appreciated this design and they’ve been using it for years! Its very hard to manipulate, especially being a sff psu, I almost always buy custom cables adding a whopping $100+ to the purchase.

I have switched over to silverstone or bequiet for sff/sfx systems because the have flat, manageable cables that are not an eyesore. If EVGA even reads this, please consult with your engineering team to see if changing the cables to flat ones are feasible.

Using this SFX ps to replace standard ATX ps in 2U server chassis iStarUSA D-200-PFS. The ATX ps was fitting so close to mainboard that is was blocking SATA/U2 ports. The smaller form factor leaves space around the ps that allows airflow (the fan can actually move some air) and can be used to run/hide cables.

The SFX cable lengths are shorter than ATX cables. This works out perfectly for mainboard and SATA cables (no slack whatsover). I had to get an extension cable for the CPU power. The modular design allows me to leave out PCIe/GPU cables that I don’t have a need for.

I like the cables since they are flexible, which fits the mini builds very well. It had worked without any problem until it was broken a week ago. I switched the graphic card from RTX3080 to RTX2080 for my wife since she needs to work in a new location.

The downgraded custom PC was for her new location during weekdays so she doesn’t need to move her current gaming PC around. Right after the completion, everything was working perfectly. It broke when my wife tried to power on the PC at her new location.

Additionally, the location was the same one when I used my previous build with CoolerMaster PSU, it never had any issues for a whole year. Thus, I believe there was nothing wrong with the voltage or anything alike.

Unfortunately, I don’t have coverage purchased for PSU because they normally work very well and last long. I couldn’t say it’s 100% Corsair’s quality issue, but comparably other brands’ work way better than yours.

Its pretty good, i have it hooked up with a evga rtx 3090 ftw3, 12700k, kington ddr5 ram 64gb 5600 with xmp, two d5 pumps, 8 200mm and 2 120mm noctua fans, 2 m. 2s, and a crucial 2. 5 ssd and it boots and ran games pretty good (no undervolt).

Did some render tests on gpu and cpu and no shut offs or anything. However it does get loud like around slight humming levels but Its like the only thing making noise so maybe Im not use to it but i am way past the silent operation mode for the psu when gaming since I draw about 500-600 watts.

The fan did have some noise like it was hitting some wiring but it did fix itself after shaking it a little. And also great cables, really flexible good for sff builds. I did order extra pcie cables from cablemod for the gpu since it uses 3 8pins.

Overall great psu but gets some noise on gaming since everthing else is so quiet.

600w Platinum, modular SFX for a great price. Bonus that the cables are sleeved to acceptable quality to slap in. It’s no boutique custom sleeved cable by any means, and the cable routing will annoy anyone trying to put cable combs in.

I ultimately just bundled and wrapped all the cables in my K77, the included branded velcro strips are a nice touch. As the listing states, the fan is silent mode and doesn’t turn on until a certain load.

In my case, that’s a little annoying because even 30% would be “”silent”” for me, and still move some air. I wish there was a switch on the PSU for this mode. Maybe even a tiny dip switch by the modular connectors.

For those wanting cable combs and nice clean cables, three things: 1) the cable sleeves are small at 2. 5mm. This will make most larger paracord combs useless. 2) the 24 pin cable is actually 27 cables to comb.

Additionally, some are smaller than the normal 2. 5mm cable width. 3) To have any chance of a clean 24 pin cable run, you will have to depin the connectors to rearrange cable routing. I think this is an oversight by corsair, but having sleeved cables included is enough of a bonus for me.

I did all of this on a SF450 Platinum’s cables (same set), so YMMV and tread carefully.

I bought this PSU for a new build HT-PC system in a Silverstone GD04B USB 3. 0 Grandia HTPC Black Micro ATX Case. However this is where these items don’t compliment each other – Cable length. The supplied cables are way too short to reach the Gigabyte H270M DS3H Micro ATX Motherboard.

The 24 pin power cable has no chance of making the connection on the board the 12 pin cable will make it to the 12 pin connector if you have no graphics card but it’s like a bow string in tension. The price of this unit £80 bar a penny is not cheap for a modular PSU and given the fact Silverstone do make longer leads that are compatible with this PSU they’re an extra £29 LN83372.

So to get this PSU to work in a Silverstone Case for HT-PC use you’ll need to spend almost £110 of your hard earned on a 500W Modular PSU with a 120mm Fan – eyewatering to say the least. I’ve had to use an old PSU thats not modular to get up and running and when this was pointed out to those in Scan’s customer service team they told me that the leads were specific to this PSU and would be hard to source extensions yet they sell them and no compromise given this order with them ran to £325.

So to recap unless you have a really small system don’t even consider this PSU and don’t expect any sense from the Scan customer service team when you point out that its unsuitable for an HT-PC build using the same manufacturers case without any non compatibility issues either from Scan or Silverstone.

Have a Coolermaster Elite 130 case which had a full size ATX PSU. Though OK very cramped inside especially with the length of cables. This is perfect. Smaller size and fully modular cables which are much shorter.

Only criticism is only one SATA power cable provided but solved with a splitter cable. Much better system.

A bit strange using such a silent PSU. initially, I couldn’t even tell it was on, because the fan doesn’t turn on until a certain temperature limit, which I am yet to trigger. Everything is working as it should though, and the on/off switch on the back is handy.

With these silent PSUs a ‘power on’ light would be handy, just to confirm unit is supplying power and working properly. I was using the PSU on a test-bed with some flaky motherboards and sometimes I couldn’t tell if the PSU was on, or motherboard broken.

Psu works fine, fan is really quiet, if you’re worried about noise i guarantee that this fan won’t be the loudest fan in your system. With side panel off and my ear 2cm to the fan its extremely hard to hear over the sound of the cpu fan honestly don’t care that much that it shuts off when not in use because its so quiet when its on anyway.

The cables and the connectors are another story though. Cables are kinda stiff but definitely not something that i wouldnt expect but the connectors are really stiff. If you’ve ever watched pc building videos and seen the psu cables ‘click’ when the connecter is pushed all the way in and the clip engages – yeah that doesn’t happen here.

They are so stiff that im pretty sure half of my connectors are like 1~2 ml off from being flush on the connectors. And its not the female connectors on the psu its the male connectors on the cables themselves – so you’re gonna have this problem every time you plug one in – gpu, motherboard, psu etc.

And god forbid you have to remove them, you’re gonna need 2 flat head screw drivers one of those orange lego seperator tools and a strong faith in Jesus Christ for any chance at success. And no its not me being a fool and not pressing the clip to release the cable – Im honestly surprised no one else has mentioned this so it might have just been my unit.

– Customer service team were excelled from the initial enquiry I made, right through to the part selection process – Assembly was fast, and despite there being an issue with the fans, was resolved quickly.

– Shipping was extremely quick and the build works and looks fantastic. – The team however, used the fans on the CPU cooler to pull air from inside the PC case rather than cold air from the outside. After experiencing some high temps for the CPU, causing fans to run at a higher RPM, I flipped the fans on the radiator around to pull cold air from outside the case.

This significantly reduced running temps. Overall, extremely satisfied with the build, process and team. Would strongly recommend to anyone needing a bit of help on their builds.

I like the idea of having an 850-watt PSU in SFX form factor for my ITX builds. However, I did not pull the trigger for a long time due to complaints of the semi-fanless 15% fan curve issue which resulted in wild fluctuations and noise (for example the fan would suddenly ramp up form 0% to 100% even during very light loads).

Fortunately after hearing that Cooler Master revised their SFX PSU line to fix this erratic behavior, I finally purchased the V850. I still was still a bit worried that I would get a pre-revision unit.

Thanks to Machines & More on Youtube (check out the video called “A Revised Fan? Cooler Master SFX Power Supply Revision 2021”), I knew that I got the revised model. This is how to tell if you got the new version: 1) On the box, it should state “100% Japanese Capacitors” (instead of “15% Fanless).

2) On the box, the picture should show a smooth fan curve (instead of a 15% drop-off curve). 3) The removable sticky note on the unit should state “Fan will not spin until a specific core temperature is reached” (instead of “Fan will not spin when load is under 15%”).

Overall, this is still not the quietest SFX PSU when under load (well, at least compared to SFX-L PSUs with larger 120mm fans). But for $145, I think it’s a very good price for an 850-watt Gold SFX PSU, hence 5 stars.

Let’s just hope it lasts for a long time.

When this bra arrived I was so excited! Excellent fabrics, gorgeous cut, etc. But then upon trying it on I decided immediately to return it since the metal adjustment pieces for the strap length sat right on top of my shoulders! Something that should have been caught during the design phase in my opinion.

But, I adored the high waisted recycled shorts with pockets which I wear all the time, and prompted me to order the 7/8 length leggings too. MPG is a new brand for me but will absolutely be a staple from now on.

I do a lot of hot yoga, work with a trainer, Zumba, downhill and x-c ski, bike, etc.

I bought this PS for an HTPC build and I wanted something small and quiet, and it happened to be on sale. The included cables wouldn’t stretch far enough to reach the motherboard connectors or one of my SATA devices.

Luckily I had extra cables from a prior build otherwise I would have had to buy new cables or extensions. The 24V motherboard cable, for example, is roughly a foot long. I’m a fan of Corsair modular power supplies and have used them successfully in the past, this is the first hiccup I’ve experienced.

Just be aware of this possibility, because it caught me by surprise.

In short, you either need it for your build or you don’t. If you have an SFF, get this. I have a very SFF case, so this is pretty much the worst case scenario for a PSU. This may be from heat leakage from other components like my hot asf 1070 FE, but from what I’ve seen Corsair prioritizes noise over heat dissapation.

This thing gets relatively hot, maybe like 50-70 C? I put my hand over the case where this was and it felt pretty hot. That being said, this is really your only option for a SFF psu right now, and they are extremely premium.

It’s modular, and the cables that come with it feel amazing and are a really good length. Some may say that it’s too short for their system, but it fits almost perfectly in mine (there’s some excess but that’s to be expected).

If you’re deciding between a SF750 and this, Optimum Tech did an excellent video on this PSU, but what you need to know is that it can handle the new GPUs at max load, even with an overclocked 10900k from Intel.

Ideally you would get a SF750 if you can find one in stock, but this will definitely do the job.

The Fan is designed to turn ON only if the PC load is above 15% (~112. 5W). So if your PC load is close to 15% then every time it goes above the 15% mark, the fans will max out for 2 seconds then turn off, as soon as the load goes below 15%.

So if your PC idle load is close to 112W, every time you click a web page, scroll down, or do any action, the CPU clocks up and you surpass the 112. 5W (15%) threshold and the PSU FAN will max out and after a second or two, when the CPU clock goes back down, the PSU fan will stop immediately.

This makes it unbearable as the fan keeps ramping up and turning off in 1-2 second intervals when you are using your PC. This has been rectified in the revised version and I hope they replace the old ones with the new revised version (where they removed the fan stop feature) for those who are affected by this.

if you buy this power supply there is probably a 50% chance you will also need to have custom cables made for your build. the 24 pin cable is very short even for a sfx psu which may be an issue in conventional cases (no issues in a lian li q58).

it comes with two daisy chain vga power cables but one of them is maybe 6” longer than the other so if you are running a 30 series card or the like you may need to get creative tucking away that extra slack.

otherwise there have been no issues with this psu.

I knew the PSU was small, but did not realized just how small it really is until I had it in my hands. Amazing something so small can provide so much power and at such high efficiency level. Installation was a breeze, except for MB and CPU power, as mentioned in “Cons”.

Had to use cable ties every 2 inches to keep the wires from hitting bottom fans. Will redo the sleeving to keep wire flat and together. Otherwise a perfect PSU for mITX system.

Really appreciate the quality in the unit. Thing is built solid. What I find even more impressive is the cable quality. Normally SFX PSU cables are rigid and a little long. These are sleeved and easy to bend! Lian Li and whoever they partnered with to make this product possible.

Have been running the power supply for over a month. No problems with installation or performance. Some people said that it is noisy. Haven’t really experienced that issue. Would definitely recommend it.

Only thing I don’t like about these SFX power supplies is that they are significantly more expensive than their ATX counterparts.

Quiet efficient, compact power supply. But cables are much shorter than expected. So it does not work with Bottom mounted Power supply locations for ATX MBs as 8 pin CPU power cable is too short. Also applies to Drivebays.

They should have given little longer. For me I am using in a case where PS is mounted on the top, so it was good in my use case.

I would have given this PSU a 5 egg rating if it came with a cable pouch like some of their other PSU’s do. Like others have also mentioned. The cables are really short, so as long as you are using it for a small form factor computer case you shouldn’t have any issues with cable length.

The PSU itself is great. Quite operation, small form factor, good energy rating. Losses eggs from me because of the extremely short cords. Had I known they were that short I would have ordered extensions or a separate bundle with longer cords, but as it is there is no description of length, I had no idea until I tried installing everything in the case.

My 9-year old 700W PSU got damaged from a hard drive that caught fire. I snagged this replacement on a Black Friday deal that only cost me ~$50. Started to install it on a mid-sized ATX case and realized how small it was.

Quaint, but wasnt gonna fit well in my PSU slot, until I looked in the box and saw a Low-Pro to Standard adapter plate. Sweet! Continued to install and quickly realized these CPU & MB cables were too short for my configuration.

😡 If I had a top or front mounted case, it may have worked out, but this was bottom mounted. Luckily, I had another SeaSonic PSU in a smaller case that I could swap the cables out for. Worked perfectly for both.

Even came with a rebate.

I haven’t had the unit long enough to comment on how it fares in the long term, and I lack the technical knowledge to write up a review that goes into detail on how it works. It’s a power supply, and it supplies power.

The main reason that I’m writing a review is to mention the cables: a couple of the cables were nowhere near long enough. This was used in a mid-tower ATX build with the PSU at the bottom (Be Quiet! Pure Base 500), and the stock wires for the motherboard and the CPU were nowhere near long enough.

I had to purchase a set of extensions to finish off the build.

If I would have known about the short cables, I would have bought the extenders right away. The unit itself works great and I’m sure I wont have any problems with it, but seriously another 6 inches on the cables would have gone a long way.

I do not usually write reviews, but I was so pleased with this product that I thought it was worthy of one. I was very concerned with the noise of the new system that I recently built (an Intel, mITX).

The hardest noise making item in the computer to evaluate is the power supply. I went through 10s of reviews, looking for decibel ratings and measurements of so called “quiet PSUs. ” I am an audiophile and require literal silence in my system (not just “quiet” fans that so often characterize so called “silent” components).

Complete fanless designs (from Seasonic and the like) are extremely high quality, silent but extremely expensive. I did not want to spend that much. The Silverstone, albeit rated for less and a hybrid silence (the fan kicks in if load is too high) is perfect for mini systems.

My power requirements are minimum. This unit fits perfect for my needs and is SILENT, which was my biggest concern. Some reviewers have noted that an electrical hum develops after a few weeks or months.

I have owned this for four months and hear no such ring. I have put my ear right up to the unit and detect no electrical hum. I suspect that there is variation in the units and I was fortunate (although I cannot verify this, I have exposure only to my unit).

Great unit for the audiophile and HTPC user looking for a silent power supply for a small system. Excellent choice, cannot recommend it enough. I have a small 54w Intel process, 64GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Bluray Drive, mITX motherboard, and 1 stick of RAM.

Fan never kicks in the PSU, even under load.

If the new ones are better than this one, as some have implied, I would buy this brand/model again. It isn’t easy finding a good low power and small PSU. It would be nice if it were available as a modular and still low power.

Most people buy a PSU that will supply way more watts then needed and end up running the unit outside the optimal power curve, thereby costing them money in the long run.

Blew my mini-itx build by installing this completely before testing. Originally buzzing sound was no louder than Noctua CPU fan with ultra-low noise adapter or two Noctua case fans with PWM and low noise adapters.

Over the last couple of weeks, the buzz has become about 3 dB louder than anything else unless I access my D drive (4TB Barracuda XT) which smooths out the overall sound and I can no longer here the buzz (although it is there still).

For a SFX power supply this is on the large side, especially when coupled with a mini-ITX case/board. The other issue I had was that the fan runs all the time. It’s fairly quiet, but seemed to produce a frequency which was quite noticeable and annoying.

I have since switched to a Corsair SFX power supply, which is much smaller and runs silent.

Replaced a BeQuiet 400w with this (due to the noise) and couldn’t be happier. Fantastic PSU. Unlike normal SFX PSUs, this SFX-L PSU allows for a larger fan which makes it actually silent. Still more expensive than a full-size ATX power supply, but much better value than standard SFX.

I was just forced to buy an SFX power supply because I switched to a Lian Li 011 Dynamic Mini. I didn’t know before I bought the case that it only accepted SFX form factor PSUs, I found out after I already had most of my system installed in the case.

My build is an ATX Z390, i7-9700k oc’d @ 4. 9 GHz, RTX-2080, and a whole lot of Corsair RGB, including an H115i cooler. So far this power supply is handling the load admirably and is basically silent, just like my old Corsair RM850 that I was using for this build.

I was hesitant to downgrade my PSU wattage so much but I knew 600W was enough. The individually sleeved cables are a nice addition too. I just hope this power supply lasts.

– I needed more power in my Fractal Design Node 202 (originally came with a 450w PSU) in order to drive a 2070 Super. This definitely delivered the goods. As noted, every time I turn the unit on it almost sounds as if it’s going through a boot loop as if the system won’t post.

But it ends up loading properly and there’s no issue, it’s just odd. Maybe it’s just capacitors loading up or who knows. But yeah, button press to turn on the system, *click!* – silence and everything off for a second further.

then everything comes to life. But honestly, if you’re looking for a lot of power in some kind of ITX build, look no further. Oh, also I’d consider custom cables if your set up is REALLY small like the node is without much extra room for cable management.

The original included 450w PSU was well thought out for the case it was put in and everything was already essentially cable modded to be the right lengths. Having a regular one means you have a lot of extra cable length in some cases.

For several years there was only one company that made SFX PSU’s that were even worth your time, and that was Silverstone. While Silverstone does make a lot of great products (their PSUs included), Corsair actually does have a better reputation for quality with that particular component, and this is no exception.

Corsair only recently joined the SFX market, and they’re already arguably the best brand to choose. Comparing the 450w models, you’ve got Silverstone with an 80mm off center fan, rainbow colored cables and a 3 year warranty.

Corsair has a 92mm fan, fully black sleeved flat cables, and a 7 year warranty at roughly the same price. it’s worth noting that the Silverstone DOES come with an SFX to ATX adapter, BUT that the adapter isn’t painted black, which I consider to be an issue.

Comparing the 600w model to the 500w Silverstone SFX-L (which is really the only valid comparison), we have a much more interesting competition. Silverstone does have the bigger fan at 120mm and it is centered (better aesthetics), but that comes at the price of a longer psu, which won’t work in some smaller cases (but usually does).

Both the Silverstone and the Corsair come with fully black, sleeved cables in this case, and the Silverstone DOES come with an SFX to ATX adapter that IS painted black (a major plus in my book). However, the Silverstone power supply again has a 3 year warranty (newegg lists it as 1 year incorrectly according to the Silverstone website), where again the Corsair has a 7 year at roughly the same price.

There IS a Silverstone 700w 80 Plus Platinum variant, but it’s massively more expensive than any of the other competition, putting it in a class of it’s own. Aside from the price, extra wattage and the Platinum certification, it’s essentially the same at the 500w variant.

Bottom line, if you need the adapter and have the extra space, you MIGHT want to look into the 500 or 700 watt SFX-L. Otherwise, there’s really no reason not to go with Corsair in practically any SFX situation.

– I have a small PC with a non-standard compact PSU. I was able to quickly install SF 450 in my small tower. The included ATX-sized plate bracket allowed for seamless fit. – All cables are braided, are very flexible and not very thick.

They are joy to work with due to their flexibility. Just like PSU itself, the cables appear to be high quality. – The cables are not very long, which was a definitive advantage for me, as the PC case I was working with is small.

Extra long cables would just be hindrance. – SF450 stays silent unless it comes under heavy load and the fan kicks in. The noise level was low with the fan running. – The PSU does not get hot, even under heavy load.

– After using SF450 for w while, I am pleased by its quality and near silent operation. With stable power and lots of connectors, Corsair SF450 will not disappoint you. 7 years warranty should give you peace of mind and assurances that Corsair stands by their products.

Very happy with this PSU. It is replacing an older 80_ bronze PSU and it helped lower the idle power by almost 10W. The kit comes with an SFX to ATX adapter plate if you want to use it in a case that only has an ATX aperature.

Fantastic psu, best in class. Quiet, high quality components, reliable, great customer service. Very highly recommended. Don’t cheap out on your psu, you won’t regret getting this.

I’m trying to be fair to this PSU. I’m giving it 3 stars because as far as I can tell, it does what it is supposed to do. It powers my PC and hasn’t set anything on fire. But I hate it. I did not like working with it, would not buy it again, and wish I hadn’t bought it to begin with.

The problem is that the cables are garbage. They are super stiff and bulky. I was working in a good sized case (Phanteks P500A) and I could not get the case closed because of how far the GPU power cables jutted out.

I had to go out and buy more flexible cable extensions (which were also far more attractive) for the GPU (and of course also had to get matching cables for the motherboard and CPU). And once I had the cable extensions, I had to spend a great deal of time attaching them and wrestling the original bulky/stiff cables into the bottom of the case so they were out of sight.

It is only the thought of dealing with these cables again that stops me from disconnecting the entire thing and returning it for a refund. Bottom line–unless this drops DRASTICALLY in price, look elsewhere.

I paid $90 (not including the $40 I had to drop on extensions), and for $90 you can get another well known brand 850 watt gold rated fully modular power supply with flat/flexible cables. (I know this for a fact–I did another build a month ago with such a PSU, and I so wish I’d gotten the same one again, rather than chosen this one because I would have it two days sooner).

So if this drops drastically in price, AND you don’t care about cable management/appearance, AND you are confident the bulky cables will fit in your case, then sure pick this PSU. If that isn’t the case, look elsewhere.

If you’re in the market for a 750 watt unit, this is decent. I recently within the last 3 years decided to go back to using a desktop and have since discovered Working From Home is a thing now. Among the components required was a reliable p.

s. u. and this power supply unit ticked all the boxes for me. I originally bought a used p. s. u. off the Electronic Bay made by a manufacturer that had gone out of business in the last 5 years prior to purchase.

Yeeaaah, that unit fried immediately when I plugged it in. Out of that experience, my advice to anyone building a pc for themselves is never buy a used psu- ever. I’ll repeat that: Never EVER buy a used p.

s. u. and all my power supply problems were resolved. I definitely recommend considering this brand for your build and if you want something that has a 10 year warranty (rare) then just buy this one and look no further.

You’ll be happy with it after you start using it. Just make sure you know what your power requirements are for your build and give some leeway, better to have more than you need than exactly what you need.

Especially if you do things like plug in phones and usb fans or coffee makers or some nonsense like that.

EVGA does a pretty decent job with this power supply. It powers all of my components so what more could you want from a power supply right? While the supernova does its job, it does have some minor shortcomings- literally.

The included cables are fairly short, even for my microatx build. extensions or custom cables may be required for larger builds. Furthermore, cables on this power supply use a different pinout than other power supply companies.

If you are planning on upgrading your power supply, know that you WILL have to re-run your cables as the difference in pinouts will likely damage components. EVGA also has not changed the tooling on their cables to meet standard pin shapes.

The 24pin cable, for example, looks like it shouldn’t fit any motherboard as the “rounded” and “square” pins do not match up. Although alarming at first, this mismatch in pins is okay and the cable will fit any 24pin motherboard, albeit with a little more force than normal.

All-in-all this power supply runs efficiently and even has an eco mode switch on the back which is an awesome feature. its short comings are minor and shouldn’t prove to be an issue for anyone who does the proper amount of planning for their next build.

SeaSonic has always had a reputation for being a quality power supply manufacturer. They are in fact the OEM supplier for many other brands out there. This power supply is as easy to install as any other ATX power supply is, and the modular cables makes keeping cables tidy a bit easier, as you only have to plug in the ones you need to use and not have a an extra bundle laying in the bottom of your case unused.

This power supply seems to do a fine job of supplying stable, clean power to my motherboard and other components which was to be expected. My only minor complaint is that the supplied modular cables on this PSU are on the short side.

They’ll be fine for most people with smaller or medium sized cases, but those of use that use full-tower or larger cases may run into issues where the cables simply won’t reach where they need to go, so if you’re in that position and still want to use this particular PSU, you may want to plan on buying some extension cables for the particular power connector types you’ll need the extra reach for.

One last thing to note, is that even though this is boxed and sold as a last generation PSU, (the latest generation does away with the capacitors in the cables and has slightly different logos on the PSU itself), what I received was the latest generation PSU with the last generation cables.

Model numbers and serial numbers all match up to confirm this to be the case. So really you’re getting the best of both worlds, the newest PSU with better in-PSU ripple control, as well as last generation cables with built-in capacitors to further reduce any ripple induced into the lines by other nearby electronic sources.

In my book that’s an unexpected but very pleasant win-win.

I built this machine to replace a system built in 2008. 14 years served me well. Now I need TPM and UEFI-Secure boot to continue to host the virtual machines I maintain. I hope to be getting the long term from this system as well.

I chose the i9-12900KS unlocked processor as the video is on chip as well. Avoided the need for a costly video card. The speed is noticeable, at times even amazing. The intel 7700 chip provides plenty of clarity on 4k with the Displayport connection.

HDMI I will admit is a little fuzzy in comparison. For the most part this system is host to VM’s and a sync backup of 4 hard disks. A monitor is connected only for troubleshooting or opening the UEFI for settings.

I built on a ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 platform for the 4- NVME x4. 0 slot on the board. Large copies (110GB) from M. 2 to M. 2 are ~3. 25GB throughput. 20 seconds give or take. I chose this board not only for the number of NVME slots but DDR4.

The DDR5 is priced out of reach. You cannot fully populate the 128GB possible with DDR5 as the 32GBsticks are nearly impossible to find or afford. Corsair DDR4 on this is stable using the auto XMP profile.

This is the first system I built and turned on with no issues and stable fast speeds. So far, the largest load is 3 VM’s sustaining about 45% CPU and 55% memory on the system. Even though the i9-12900KS is supposed to run hot it does not.

The simple Noctua NH-U12A CPU Fan and Noctua case fans keeps it running cool and quiet.

I’ve had this for about a month now and no issues. Which is pretty much about what I expected. If it fits your budget, I can’t recommend Seasonic PSUs enough. I bought my first Seasonic PSU about 9 years ago and I only replaced it because I’m not 100% sure if it’s gone bad or not.

My mobo failed and while it’s probably just the mobo, I didn’t want to chance spoiling another one since I only narrowed the issue down to mobo/PSU before the system went kaput. I’ll check if my old PSU is still fine somewhere down the line, but picked this up in the mean time.

I have high confidence the old PSU’s still good, since I’m fairly sure it would have damaged other components that were significantly older and more used than the mobo. It’s modular, has great efficiency, and it is indeed super quiet.

The only reason I wouldn’t recommend this is if 750w is overkill for your needs and you have no plans on upgrading in the future.

Never cheap out on a power supply for an expensive system! This unit has been great so far and with such a long warranty I trust that it’ll serve well for many years. A lot of SFX-L units will still use a smaller 92mm fan so seeing a 120mm in this is a welcome surprise, should keep noise down while having better cooling potential.

All of the cables are an appropriate length for most ITX cases but depending on where the PSU is mounted the EPS cable might have difficulty reaching the top left of the motherboard. Fortunately the cables are very flexible which helps a lot with routing and cable management.

Highly recommended.

I bought this for 500W version for a i7 PC that I expect to never use full power. When strees testing my CPU/30minute test), the PSU fan only kicked on a handful of times. And when it did kick on, I could not hear it.

So it is really quiet, which makes for a great silent PC.
