20 Best Semi Frameless Shower Doors (2023 Updated)

This frameless shower door was an exceptional purchase. They are attractive, durable and aided in the upgrade of my bathroom.

Looks fantastic just as pictured and was fairly easy to install.

I bought this door a couple of months ago at Lowe’s, to install myself. But, being an old guy, I had a professional come in and do. He did it in about an hour and forty-five minutes. Easy peasy. I would have done it myself, but the glass door is just too heavy for an ole boy like me to handle by myself:) Nice quality product.

Easy install. Works and looks great. Reviews that say water leaks from the bottom, have the rubber trim piece at the bottom reversed. I did the same thing, but as soon as I reversed it, worked like a charm.

Highly recommend.

It is a bit challenging to install, as any such door would be, but the instructions were clear and I had no problem installing it by myself, and I am 75 years young. Due to the configuration of my bathroom, I had to install the door with the pivot side on the same wall as the shower head, which is the opposite of how it is recommended by the instructions.

Still, I have no problem using it and there have been no leaks at all.

I bought the oil rubbed bronze finish, and all it is, is a coating that starts flaking off immediately. The various parts of the coating has come off to reveal a nickel-looking finish. Also, not all screws provided are stainless steel, so there is some rust spots in areas that I’m unable to clean.

I’ve had this door for 4 years now, and the hardware looks awful. It looked awful after the first shower with the “oil rubbed bronze” coating flaking off. The plastic weather stripping material didn’t last long either.

It has already been replaced. Avoid this door with any hardware finishes other than nickel, and anticipate that you’ll have some rust because not all screws are stainless steel! GARBAGE DOOR!!.

Good quality and smooth operation. Relatively easy to install, but I recommend looking for a couple of suction cup lifters to help position the doors. Also, the bottom clips for the fixed panel result in that panel being about 1/4 inch above the shower pan, which is a challenge to fill with caulk.

If they were to include a 3rd piece of the trim for the door edges, it could be used at the bottom to close that gap. Recommend considering that to your material packing.

This is the second Vigo shower system glass I’ve installed. I am always pleased with quality of the hardware. It looks great. I do have 3 suggestions to improve the product. 1. Instruction provided measurements are vague.

I used a 36×48 Wedi shower pan with a 2 inch foam curb. This gave me about a 4 inch curb to land the glass on. I had to trim the Wedi pan to correctly fit the enclosure. Since the Winslow has both an outer fixed panel and inner sliding door, the provided dimensions don’t give you a good idea what the inner, outer and center dimensions are.

Wedi pans are $400 and messing on up is not an option. I wish Vigo would really give a detailed schematic for this $1000+ product. 2. Vigo recommends to have wood blocking in place to anchor the shower to.

I did this for both of my projects. The problem is the screws they provide are too short. When you have a 1/2 inch substrate plus thinset and tile, the 1 5/8 screws are too short. Good luck finding 2+ inch stainless hex screws.

3. I had a hard time getting the enclosure to seal properly. What I found was water was making its way between the glass and the inside u channel of the seal strips. I had ro run a bead of silicone between the glass and strip in addition to the bead between the seal and wall.

Overall, I like Vigo products and would recommend them to others.

I bought two of these doors after quite a bit of research. I had wanted the Dreamline Essence H because it only required a 2 3/4 inch threshold but I later found out from Dreamline that the Essence H had been discontinued.

Dreamline recommended the Sapphire as a similar unit. The Sapphire requires a 4 inch threshold, so I was a bit concerned since the tubs were both very close to that. Anyway, the professional was able to install the shower doors with a little bit of adjustment.

They are absolutely stunning. They glide like a dream and because of the bypass doors, are easy to clean. I strongly recommend this shower door to those looking for something really unique and at the same time easy to clean.

We purchased 2 sets of the Sapphire brushed nickel semi- frameless tub enclosed — these are heavy duty, look great. Very pleased with the end result. Our installer had a few minor hickups with parts provided.

But he was able to think outside the box and make it work.

We were so happy to find this option that was the look we were going for but a fraction of the price we were quoted for a custom door. Our contractor had no problem installing it. Looks gorgeous!

This shower door is gorgeous in our bathroom. I love the sleek look and style. It seemed pretty easy to install but I did have my uncle, who is a contractor, install it for us just to be on the safe side.

It didn’t take him long and it looks flawless. The finish on the metal is just as described and matches the rest of our hardware. The glass for the doors is a nice thickness and feels sturdy. It slides smoothly and I really like that there isn’t a lot of rattling when you open or close it.

The clear glass is beautiful and is actually clear, it’s also easy to keep clean which is a big plus. So happy with they way our revamped bathroom looks and what a difference a shower door can do.

We recently bought a old farmhouse and have been updating and remodeling slowly. The bathroom needed quite a bit of work and we wanted to update the shower door for that added class and sophistication.

The delta classic frameless shower doors were a big hit and look gorgeous in our bathroom. It took my husband about half the day to get installed but looks beautiful. He said the glass was very sturdy and the directions were simple and easy to understand.

The brozen finish is gorgeous and matches most decors and looks so classy in our bathroom. The doors glide easily and the glass cleans easy without much force at all Over all I highly recommend for those wanting to easily update without spending an arm and a leg.

I needed to remove my tub due to disablilities. With that bwing said I needed a shower that was easy to install with a littlw help from my wife. When I was ready to install this shower door it took maybe a couple hours.

It was easy to line up and mount to the wall. The color is a very nice finish. The dark bronze is very nice. The doors glide nicely. There is no gap. The water stays in the shower and it being a shower on the 2nd floor of my home is a plus.

It makes my bathroom look a lot better.

As a professional contractor: it was a pain in the ass and poorly engineered. Directions were sufficient but didn’t talk about orientation of the stationary panel for handing of the pass door, no discernable markings on the panel either.

This means either you’re lucky or you have to flip the stationary panel end over end and then rotate the stationary panel 180 degrees. If you dont have the room you have to disassemble the entire system.

It looks good once installed. The system pivots from the center and not the wall which makes installing it into cramped bathrooms impossible. No adjustment for an out of level curb. Over all there are way better systems at this price point.

Door installed well, with a close fit on the door side. I did have trouble getting the door to close easily. It would hang up on the bottom seal. Finally had to put washers in the bottom pivot to raise the door 1/4 inch and then it worked fine.

First time I have had an issue with the Dreamline brand.

Our shower opening is the smallest size recommended for this door. The door is nice and rolls smoothly and looks beautiful. Our contractor did have some difficulty installing it. He said it was not the easiest door to install.

The only problem is that for our size shower (which it says this door will fit), the opening for the door itself is very small. If we were overweight I’m not sure we could fit through and get in! If our shower were wider and the opening bigger, I would have rated a 5.

I am pretty sure our contractor wouldn’t because of the difficulty to install.

I ordered this for a guest bath remodel. I wasn’t sure about which size to order, so I called customer service. Wow, were they great! It came by currier service. It’s heavy and awkward, but I pulled my car out and had them deliver it into the garage.

We watched the VIGO video and a couple more on Utube to learn how to install it. The videos were very helpful. It took us several tries and a lot of patience, but in about 4 hrs we got it in. It looks FANTASTIC.

If I bought another one I think it would go in faster now that we know what we’re doing.

We just moved into a new house that had a shower enclosure in a small bathroom that used a shower curtain. I installed these shower doors and what a difference it made to the look of the room! I was leary of the quality, since I purchased them sight unseen at Lowes, since they were on sale.

The reviews on this site looked great, so I took a chance and am very glad I did! As other reviewers have mentioned, the directions could use a little clarity. I would HIGHLY recommend reading the directions several times before attempting to install the doors to make sure you are clear on what they say.

I downloaded them from the site so I could read them before my doors came in. I am a woman in my late 50’s and thought they were relatively easy to install, you just need to take your time and measure twice before cutting.

Make sure you have a good saw to cut the track if needed. I was able to do most of the track work myself and just needed an extra pair of hands when moving the glass doors around. I wished I had looked at the website to see what the frosted glass looked like before I went to Lowes to order them.

They did not have this model on the floor and no examples of what the frosted glass looked like. (I did not realize it was an option till speaking with someone in the bath section. After re-checking the site after my purchase, I probably would have gone with the frosted glass.

The doors seem to be great quality and I appreciated the fact that when I opened the box to make sure all the hardware is there, they have a second level of quality control where someone who inspected the box signs off that the hardware is there.

PLUS, they give you a second pack of extras just in case something happens. Will wait a bit to see how they hold up and then get another set for the tub in the main bathroom.

This was our first Wayfair purchase and ‘WOW!’ it’s great. I’m so happy with this shower door and it looks fabulous in the renovated bathroom. Best first purchase ever!

This is a beautiful shower door. The glass is thick, and it rolls so smooth. It took us about an hour to set it up.. it was slightly challenging, but definitely worth all the effort.

If your looking for a nice looking shower door this is the one for you. However, if you want to keep the water in the shower then run from this one. I waited to do a review to make sure I could give it a fair and honest review.

The contractor said the install wasn’t that bad, but took a while. Make sure the doors go on in the correct direction (doors have a coating on one side). When taking a shower the water does go outside on the floor every time.

The lip on the bottom should have been a little higher. Hopefully they will modify the bottom track and over lap the doors a little more to keep the water inside and not allow it to go out on the floor.

Granted it is not a lot of water, but the shower doors should keep the water inside. If I could I would ship them back for a full refund, but the holes have already been drilled. Maybe Home Essentials Direct or Dreamline will give a partial refund as the product is defected.

Why would they make a shower door that leaks water outside??.

A great product for a very good price. Make sure you follow the manufactures instructions. The instructions are pretty good until the very end. However not so much as to cause a problem. its much better to have your work square, level, plumb, and straight.

Theres not much room for error. I think there is less than a quarter inch. I installed this by myself but the doors are very heavy, so get assistance if at all possible. It took me a total of about one hour working time to install this unit.

However everything just seem to fall into place. One piece had to be silicones into place and left to dry overnight before I continued on with the rest. I think that this is one of the easier units to install.

Measure twice then measure 2 more times, then drill one hole. I would not hesitate to use these doors again.

Would have given 5 stars – but had to return this door. Working on a Master bath/Bedroom reno & adding a new stand-up shower. Did a lot of research for shower doors. Looked the look of this shower door, the color finish & the fact that it had a special coating to repel the soap & water residue.

Ordered this in Sept, but our reno was pushed off till Nov, due to Covid 19. Arrived well before needed it installed. Unfortunately we had to return it, which really bummer me out. Our 2nd floor bath is within a dormer area of the house & where the shower is going, the ceiling angels down & the 76″ HIGH would not fit.

Good thing our contractor discovered this, before he unboxed & began to install. Build. com was great w/allowing the return & I had to purchase a smaller one. Also unfortunate that DreamLine does not off this shower door in a 70″ height.

So I had to order from another manufacturer.

The sliding door reminds me of a barn door, which I love. The glass is thick, the doors sturdy, all brushed nickel features are just perfect and easy to keep clean and looking brand new! This shower door truly upgrades our new marble surround to a new level! So happy to have purchased this product.

Overall very pleased with the Sapphire doors I bought to upgrade my nice shower from ugly shower curtain to sharp looking glass doors. Extremely good value! I installed them myself, and while I’m pretty savvy and do alright by myself, I have no experience with 120lbs.

shower door installation. The install went well, it took me about a day and I wrapped the next day. They do leak a little, the water splashes up from under to glass, but it’s not bad or a lot of water.

This review is for the DreamLine Duet 56-60 in. W x 72 in. H in Brushed Nickel. The door was easy to install and beautifully finished. All parts are labeled with an ID number and logically packaged into multiple plastic bags related to the install step.

Customer service is top-notch !! I broke an expensive part and called to purchase a replacement. They shipped me a new part free of charge to ensure I would be happy with my new door. This company knows how to treat customers !!!! Since they sell tons of these doors, customer service is typically busy.

don’t wait on the phone, leave your phone number and they typically call back within an hour. Some helpful hints from my install: 1. Read the entire installation manual before starting. 2. If your 3 wall width measurements (step #1) are nearly identical and wider than 56″, cut off an additional 1/8″ width from the top and bottom rails (not just the 2 1/4″ in step #2).

If your walls are nearly exact as mine are, you will have difficulty keeping the silicone on one wall profile (part #2) without the extra 1/8″. The 1/8″ is absorbed in step #7 (see below). 3. (Step #2) You only need to cut 1 end of the upper guide rail since there are no alignment holes to consider.

However, the top of the rail is rather thick and the rail is a few inches tall. If using a hacksaw to cut it, be sure to make your cut perfectly straight else you will see the crooked cut after the unit is installed.

I cut mine on a 10″ radial arm saw with a 60 tooth carbide tip blade for a perfectly straight cut, then polished the ends with a fine flat file. A chop saw with that blade will work fine too. 4. (Step #3) I would not attempt to install those screws with a hand-held screwdriver as you will likely strip the head before the screw is fully seated.

Use a screw gun and #2 philips bit, or better – take a trip to the hardware store and buy stainless steel hex head screws of the same size and install them with a 6 point socket. 5. (Step 6) If you built your shower new and have studs/wood behind the screw holes, don’t use the wall anchors.

Use stainless steel screws directly into the wood. Ensure the screws penetrate the wood at least 1/2″. Typically, a 1 1/2″ screw will accomplish this (pre-drill a smaller hole). 6. (step #7) Apply the silicone to the walls and shower base threshold, applying a thicker layer on the wall with the shower head.

Move the entire frame into the opening on an angle, shower wall in first, and 3/4″ to 1″ above the base threshold. After sliding the side opposite the shower head into place, push the entire assembly down on top of the shower base threshold, then check for vertical level and install screws.

Wipe off any excess silicone then wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. 7. (Step 9) This step should be accomplished with 2 people, especially when installing door B (the inside door).

Recently did a master bath remodel and installed the Duet doors. What a great product. Superior quality, awesome look and the smoothest doors know to man. Installation was easy enough on this non-professional.

Measure three times and cut once. Highly rated. Will recommend to others. Thanks.

Good attractive door design. Fairly easy assembly. Doesn’t leak at the bottom, always a bonus! Nice heavy glass but still slides smooth. Only negative comment – if you caulk around the edges for a better water tight seal and then have to remove the door for any reason (one of our tiles cracked – to no fault of the door) its VERY HARD to remove the caulking from the edges with the design.

Probably not an issue for most though and I would still buy this door again.

This is a beautiful shower door. It is not for the average Joe. I am a mechanical engineer and it took me 3 days and the unit must be placed in the tub as an assembly. It weighs 78 lbs. Be prepared

This was pretty easy to install. The only thing that took me by surprise was how hard my porcelain tile was, so it made drilling the screw holes very difficult. I burned up two masonry bits and a diamond one (nothing to do with the door).

The door looks great and works well, and I have no water splashing out as a couple of other reviews said. It opens and closes nicely, although a little noisy (not like the quiet ping of a thick glass frameless) But the price was very good and worth the small trade off.

My wife and I are both very happy with it.

We recently had our one and only bathroom renovated to make it more comfortable, safe and efficient for us – and one part of that was to replace the tub with a walk-in shower. I had spent a lot of time researching, and we really liked the appearance, features and reviews of the Essence-H, so we ordered it.

Upon opening the boxes, our installer was impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship. Everything that was supposed to be there was happily enclosed. The ability to adjust for out-of-plumb walls and for an under 60″ alcove meant that this door could fit in our Depression-era home – and the bypass doors meant that beautiful glass doors could fit in our small bath! I admit, we were somewhat concerned about the possibility of water splashing out, but we figured time would tell.

The installation went well, and we were thrilled with how classy and upgraded our bath now looked – how much brighter, too – and how easy it was to slide the doors. Then it was time to discover if there would be any leakage.

and to our delight, the floor remained dry! Cleanup is easy, too. We couldn’t be happier!.

Outstanding shower doors. I preferred the Essence-H to the Essence. The larger side pieces and bottom threshold piece keep the water in the shower better, plus those side pieces provide some support for the heavy doors.

I contacted DreamLine about several things, and their service and help were absolutely incredible; I would use DreamLine products just for their service, in fact.

Does a wonderful job setting off shower looks. Instructions were great. Writen for this shower door only. Every part labled in bags or miscellaneous pieces. Quality is Great.

The Dream Line Encore shower door really finished off my bathroom remodel and nicely shows off my new tile shower. I installed it myself. It is a relatively easy job, but be sure to have help handling the glass panels as they are heavy.

I did need to substitute longer mounting screws for the frame. The ones that came with the door were not long enough to go through the tile and backer board to securely screw into the studs. The finished and adjusted door glides like magic and operates very smoothly.

Purchased this shower door to go with our upgraded walk in shower. I got the Encore Semi-Frameless door with satin black hardware. It took me a while to order doors because I was unsure and was trying to stay within a budget.

I did splurge a little and although a less warranty with the satin black hardware, I am so glad I chose Dreamline Shower Doors. Makes such nice difference in our bathroom and everythings seem biger, even inside of the shower.

I would definitely recommend Dreamline Shower Doors.

While the shower door is beautiful, well made and perfect for my new shower, the customer service is exceptional and unlike any I have dealt with recently. While installing the glass doors, the door shattered in my hands into a million pieces.

I figured I must have bumped the tub without realizing it. I called Dreamline to obtain a replacement and planned to pay, but to my surprise they sent one free of charge and that included shipping FEDEX in 2 days.

I was effectively stunned as I have not run across a company with this quality of customer satisfaction. I can’t but strongly recommend Dreamline for any of your future shower projects. Thanks Dreamline.

I gave the product a 4 star on installation as the doors are very fragile and definitely require very careful handling. Also for the second time around for the install, I will tape heavy foam around the tub to prevent inadvertent contact with the tub.

I researched shower doors for several months before I decided on my Dreamline purchase. Having polished nickel fixtures it was difficult to decide on an the actual finish that would match best. While I was not able to see the oil rubbed bronze finish on display, I was pleasantly surprised that the finish was a perfect match to my cabinetry.

The quality of the door is exceptional, highly recommend Dreamline, but would’ve loved to see your product displayed in more locations with all finishes.

My bad. I assumed that like most shower doors, both sides slid open. When we had it half installed we became aware only one side of the shower door would slide allowing entry/exit. Unfortunately, the location of the shower meant we had to install the opening side to the side of the toilet, with limited room for getting in and out.

To have the open side on the other end of the shower would have meant stepping into the shower to turn on the water and if you had to adjust the hot or cold water you would be in the water while trying to adjust it.

To make matters worse, when we finished installing it, as we were beyond the point of no return, even though the door is 54″ wide, after installing the stops and handle, there is only about 24″ of opening.

Between the small opening, the opening being to the side of the toilet and a built in seat in the shower, it concerns me as we installed this for my elderly parents. Lesson learned. However, if you are installing this without the obstructions we had, it will be fine.

The door is really nice looking. I may have been the wrong door for a molded shower unit. Might have been more appropriate for a tiled shower. The frame went higher than the molded shower so we had to modify to hide the screws at the top.

I purchased this shower unit to replace one that was damaged during a shower flood. The unit looks good as the finished product. However, during the assembly phase, I found that the instructions were a little vague in the written step versus the picture.

For instance, the panel stop tabs were only shown in a picture and not clarified with written copy. Also, The instructions for caulking the frame come one page later than the instructions to mount the frame to the shower.

One other observation, when the length of the top and bottom rails are cut, the screw ho9les loose their strength in that they spread when a screw is inserted. The top rail is not tight against the glass frame.

I purchased the Vigo Soho 24-25 in. Shower door but it doesn’t actually fit a 25in opening. Home Depot’s site is incorrect and misleading. I called Vigo directly and they confirmed that the door only fits up to 24 1/2.

I asked if there was anything they could do, maybe a piece or anything they could provide to make up the small gap but they were less than helpful and just told me to deal with Home Depot. Home Depot said “sorry” and that they would change the site, although that hasn’t been done, but there was nothing they could do since the door had been installed.

So I’m stuck with a four that’s too small, having to search for a solution to make it fit.

I installed this yesterday and was impressed with the quality of the door and how it worked out in the end. My only issue was some of the finishing strips were bent, and the instructions are poor in some cases.

but eventually you will figure it out. I would definitely order this product again and people should be confident in using this product. A few suggestions for the manufacturers. – spend some $ and time and clean up the instructions, it’s not hard to do and it would be appreciated by anyone who has to install this product.

– include longer screws for the hinges. the ones that are included are way too short and if people actually used them they would be asking for problems. charge a few bucks more and add some 3″ screws.

– the description of the sizes is confusing eg a 28-26-70 door. you have to really look into the info to figure out what that means. be more clear on dimensions, and specifications for builders to ensure proper sizing.

Great product, a few easy changes could make it spectacular!.

We were upgrading our 1964-vintage bath – shower door, counter tops, grab bars and new sinks and plumbing. The shower tiles were in great condition and cleaned up beautifully, but the 1964 era shower door was an eyesore.

This Vigo door was the replacement. The Vigo door came well packed with all hardware and clear instructions. This door is very heavy and awkward to handle, so do a bit of planning before it is delivered – how will you move it, where will it be unpacked, where can it be stored and so on.

If you get a larger door, because you have a larger shower opening, the weight will be even more of an issue. The instructions are quite good and answered all my questions. I did the installation myself (my first shower door) so this is a good DIY project.

The hinge side of the door mounted to ganged 2×4’s behind the ceramic tile so I bought longer stainless flat head screws to mount the hinges. Again, this door is heavy. The screws were the only extra item I purchased.

The Vigo sealing strips are quite ingenious – the instructions tell you how to mount them, so follow the instructions exactly! If you are installing the door over ceramic tile, an electric drill with masonry bit will make a neat hole in the tile.

When looking at shower doors, I noticed that some models came with frosted center panels. but not this door in this size from Vigo. In hindsight, that’s an unnecessary feature – the door stops being transparent once the shower is turned on.

And, when the shower is off, the clear glass panel looking into the tile shower is absolutely great – really, quite striking! This is my third purchase of Vigo products – the others included their Edison faucet for the kitchen remodeling and three Bova faucets for the bath upgrades.

This door along with their faucet products have been well designed and manufactured to last. I’m very pleased and would recommend this door (and their faucets) without hesitation.

Very sturdy, classy and beautiful door, exceeding our expectations! It was installed professionally, hence cant comment on how difficult it was to do sobut the contractor did it without any complains within a couple of hours or so.

The brushed nickel was not throughout the piece. The side bars have a copper or rose gold undertone which I did not notice until after install was done by contractor. I also get quite a bit of water on floor outside shower, and not sure if this is common.

This door is exactly what we wanted as the finishing touch for our newly renovated bathroom. It gives the room that “wow” factor. I especially like the height of it. At 76 inches, it’s taller than most other shower doors.

When my husband accidentally bent one of the side frames during installation, I called Customer Service, credit card in hand, to order a replacement. I was so surprised when they offered to replace it for free.

No one does that! I cannot recommend DreamLine enough. Thank you for a great door!.
