Best Selling Fire Emblem Games (2024 Updated)

Before I started this game, Monster Hunter was the game that kept me playing in excess of 200 hours per game. I couldn’t imagine any other game which could match the MH series. Enter Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

I have clocked nearly the 300 hour mark (including 4 playthroughs – I won’t put spoilers here but you’ll find out – of the main game and a playthrough of the DLC) and all this is because of the combination of riveting stories and excellent gameplay.

The Fire Emblem series is based on its turn-based, tactical and addictive gameplay. The reason we kept coming back for more is the outcomes of relationships between members, the multiple divergent paths you can take, and the diverse number of characters you can battle with, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

The difficulty level is completely up to you. You can play super-hard and have perma-death on your characters, or you can play on casual and have any dead characters mercifully revived in the next mission.

The story is so well written, and the in-game animation during the “exploration” days in the monastery is utterly beautiful. There are so many things to do during exploration too, so it’s not just a tactical turned-base game.

This is hands-down the most unique, most beautiful game (characters especially) and character-driven Fire Emblem of all Fire Emblems. I cannot recommend enough of this game. It really caught me unaware how the game never grows old despite multiple playthroughs, because it feels different in each playthrough.

I highly recommend this – well worth the money paid for both the main game and the DLC.

Gameplay: Classic Fire Emblem. The school segments are a good chance to get to know the characters better, marred slightly by a hugely oversized hub world and repetitive nature of the activities (though I admit, I did really enjoy fishing.

) The new gambit system is somewhat gimmicky, but can come in clutch in late game. The crest system seems somewhat pointless, but I’m sure it can come in handy, too. The story can take permutations based on the choices you make, but I found it pretty lacking, in the end.

Like with Awakening, the real enjoyment is to be found in the character interactions. Byleth (the protagonist,) really has their own character, and that should be kept in mind when trying to roleplay.

Not only is this one of the best Fire Emblem Games I’ve ever played, Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of the best I’ve ever played period. It’s been a very long time where I have actually sat down and invested my free time on one game.

The presentation of Fire Emblem Three Houses is so amazing, I can’t stop playing it. Fire Emblem Three Houses tries many new things with it’s gameplay that have never been done before in any other entry, but it still maintains the true heart of the Fire Emblem Series which makes this one of the best in the series.

The attention to detail is exquisite, right down to the NPCs who even have their own little identities. The Difficulty is well balanced and is easy to understand the gameplay mechanics. Does this have have any drawbacks? It does, but they are so minor it’s not worth mentioning them.

Nintendo and Intelligent Systems as well as Koei Tecmo should be proud of what a Masterpiece they have made. Fire Emblem Three Houses is a must have for Nintendo Switch and would highly recommend it for not only RPG enthusiasts but Anime Lovers as well.

A perfect Fire Emblem game and a Perfect game in General. You simply cannot have a Nintendo Switch without Fire Emblem Three Houses.

The game itself is one of the best in its franchise and one of the best DS/3DS games available. While the storyline itself is nothing special, the characters are written well and interact with each other in unique ways that make the story more engaging.

The service from the store was overall very good as well. I recieved the game faster than I had expected and in excellent condition. The slot in the case that holds the cartridge isn’t as tight as it should be but it still holds the cartridge just fine.

It’s just a knitpick as everything else was like buying the game new.

I absolutely loved this installment to the Fire Emblem series. Like many it was my first game and it got the ball rolling as far as my passion for the series. The characters and world are beautiful and their storylines are genuinely touching.

The game can be as straightforward or as difficult as you want it to be with Casual and Classic modes so it’s great for experts and beginners like myself. If you can get your hands on Awakening, I’d say buy it for sure :).

After playing all of the other more recent fire Emblem games, I had to try this, at first I thought it was going to be less interesting and a quick ending game- boy was I wrong. I ended up spending many many hours hooked on this.

Just finished the entire game. I love it! It is a great game! I will say I do prefer the Birthright/conquest, and Three Houses games much more but this is a good one to start with!.

Pros: Voice acting is awsome! Art is awesome! Music is good. Animations improved! Cons: Map design is atrocious Gameplay is ok, it’s a nice break from the traditional fire emblem gameplay, so I liked it.

For me this is the best in Fire Emblem series. Fun Shining Force style battles & more RPG exploration then the other Emblem games. Great story, great visuals.

It’s exactly what it seems like. The game is fun, the graphics are beautiful, the box for the game was not damaged and looked perfect.

The visuals are way better than FE Awakening (previous 3DS game), and the gameplay is a bit more complex. Now enemies can use pair-up/dual attack mechanics, which previously was restricted to only the player’s units.

Also, enemy skills are more varied and will make it much harder to “tank” enemy waves with a single overpowered unit. Additionally the “My Castle” mechanic lets you share your creativity with others, and even battle teams created by other players.

My main criticism is the game’s story, which can be kinda nonsensical at times, but IMO this isn’t a huge deal. Unfortunately I could not finish the game because I lost my cart. :/.

Considered to be the more difficult of the two releases in comparison to its counterpart Fire Emblem #birthright. This game keeps up with the traditional elements of #fireemblem that I’ve grown to love.

The storyline kind of feels a bit like the non-canon version of the story, but the gameplay helps redeem that. #Conquest is considered harder than #birthright because their is no opportunity for grinding your characters up.

you must be strategic in whom you give your experience to, because battles are limited. Long gone are the reeking boxes of #FireEmblemAwakening. This game is a great addition to any #Nintendo3DS owner.

If you’re gonna get the physical copy and you are an experienced FE player, get Conquest. It is hard and reminds me of older FE games – but the DLC aspect does make things easier. If you are a novice get Birthright.

I am a diehard fan and got both, which has decent story for each. Revelations is the DLC only full sized game, the last of the ‘trilogy’ if you will. I love the ‘my castle’ option and gifting people stuff left and right.

And the gameplay is awesome, vast improvements from FE: Awakening. If you enjoy a story-driven strategy game try this out.

Nintendo got everything right in this Fire Emblem iteration. I don’t know where to start! The speedy interface/game, the story, the characters are all worth the price and you can download the other two paths as DLC for only 20$ each! For around 100$ you’re getting a whole heck of a lot of replayable game and no, FE Conquest and FE Birthright are NOT the same game.

The very first Fire Emblem game I ever received and I fell in love. The characters, soundtrack and mechanics feel like they were made for me. I’m a casual gamer and enjoy games that are more strategy or turn based.

Every iteration in the series is its own unique story so you don’t have to know anything or have played the other games to know what’s going on. Though there are easter eggs and references to those who have played the other games.

Fire Emblem is typically much harder than Three Houses, and this is no exception. The story is cheesy, the characters are mostly unlikable, but the gameplay is there. It’s certainly worth the time.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is easily one of, if not the, best Warriors games ever made. An excellent alternate timeline to Fire Emblem Three Houses which manages to be equally compelling to the original, while also not replacing it.

The game has 3 distinct stories clocking in at around 30 hours each. A robust roster including almost every playable character from the original, and even a few former NPCs. Every character has a unique mechanic and pool of learned skills that makes them distinct from other characters with the same core moveset.

Moveset quality is really high, with every playstyle being completely viable. The addition of RPG and strategy elements from Three Houses adds a great deal of depth to the Warriors formula. It’s not just the combat that matters – it’s who you use, where you send them, and how your prioritize objectives.

KoeiTecmo returns with another Fire Emblem spinoff this time based on the hit Switch game Fire Emblem: Three Houses. You take the control of a mercenary teaming up with the three academies from Garreg Mach Monastery.

Any academy the player choose will give the a new story to follow and a ton of Warriors to fight with. Train, talk and form a strategy to strengthen your bonds and stats with the Warriors by fighting hordes of soldiers in each map to progress further in the chapter.

While the battles can get monotonous, and the dialogue can drag on a bit, the action and characters will keep you coming back for more surprises on what will happen next. Whether you’re a Fire Emblem fan or not, Three Hopes is the spinoff you definitely want to try out.

For anyone who enjoyed playing Fire Three Houses, definitely get this game. Three Houses is my favorite game on the switch as i played every single route and completed the DLC. I personally put over 300 hours into that game.

When this was annocuned i couldn’t wait to get it. It has not disappointed as it brings back the same feeling i had when i played that game. Looking forward to completing all the routes and unlocking all the characters.

Item arrived in perfect condition as described. You’ve probably read about reviews on this game or played this already yourself so most of this review will be similar, if not, the same. If you’re a fan of Tecmo Koei’s other hack n’ slash type games like Dynasty/Samurai warriors you’ll enjoy this.

The game also borrows elements from the Fire Emblem franchise itself such as weaknesses and the weapon triangle system. Much like the fire emblem games you can also build supports as well pair up units in the more recent Fire Emblem games such as Awakening and Fates.

The game has two campaign modes: Story and History mode. The story combines the events of Fire Emblem (original), Awakening and Fates and adds its own twist to the story. The story mode campaign is fairly easy in that you can easily complete it on hard mode the first time.

It shows you gameplay elements and teaches along the way. During the stages, there will be missions that are optional to complete but doing so will dictate the flow of the battle. History mode offers more of a challenge where the enemies are generally stronger and require you to have knowledge of the game’s mechanics to clear them sufficiently.

Some maps in historic mode will also have character or weapon limitations so only certain units can be played in those maps. This mode is definitely suitable for those who have played older warrior titles.

There is also a lot of unlockable content in the game in the form of weapons, skills and characters. The game also has downloadable content but sadly that is locked behind a paywall. Nonetheless the game is still a great experience and enjoyable even without it.

I’d definitely recommend giving this game a go.

Bought this game on a whim, was not disappointed. I’ve never really played Fire Emblem, so I didn’t really know the characters much outside of Super Smash Bros, but I was instantly hooked on the smooth character designs and flashy fighting sequences.

The gameplay is definitely the most enjoyable part– the aforementioned graphics are exciting; the Weapon Triangle, type advantage/disadvantages, and Pair Up system add an excellent strategy element to what would be just a kill-everything fighting game; and the ability to switch between and command characters adds more mulitasking and strategy to the mix.

Of course, the game is not without its flaws. The story is rather lacking in terms of real depth and development, which didn’t surprise me much. There’s also a certain amount of grinding that may or may not be necessary to progress once “late-game” hits (I don’t actually know for sure, as I haven’t gotten to that point yet), which, compounded with the fact that the game likely starts to become stale after a couple dozen hours of play, might be a turn-off to some people.

Still, the game is very enjoyable, and is probably worth buying just to experience the flashy graphics and unique fusion of strategy and hack-and-slash. Fire Emblem fans should buy it 100%.

We were hoping for a classic, turn-based RPG or at LEAST some elements reminiscent of such games that came earlier in the series. This plays more like a Dynasty Warriors game with little to no challenge, likely intended for child-aged or beginner-level gamers looking for something colorful and silly to play and watch as opposed to an actual epic with deep, complex gameplay elements.

If you like modern anime and the story-telling there, you’ll love this game. If you’re looking for complex gameplay with intriguing plot twists beyond your average cliches and cheap, romance-related hooks, you’re better off sticking to the PS1 and PS2 era of games.

This is the first FE game that I have ever played and beaten, and it has left me as a huge fan of the series! The gameplay is fun– strategizing with where to position your army on the grid, abilities/skills to teach alongside weapon and class config; makes this a very diff.

game! The characters and storyline are appealing, along with customization, dialogue between army members, and choosing a spouse makes it an interesting game. You will put out a lot of hours with this game! The only downside was that I wish you could select the Jpnese audio with subtitles — which some games graciously allow.

Plus, being forced to marry Chrom was not part of the plan! I wanted Stahl. lol. Recommend regardless of my forced marriage mishap!.

I have always enjoyed the Fire Emblem series. I have played them all. Fire Emblem Warriors leaves turn base game play behind plays like Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. The graphics are great and looks better on the Switch than the 3DXL.

Bottom line is you will enjoy FE Warriors on your switch for hours of fun.

Overall a very enjoyable crossover between the Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors series. Gameplay is very smooth and there is a lot of content. The ability to control and direct allies is appreciated.

Also liked the option of choosing quality versus performance when the game is docked. As well as the English/Japanese voices. Main issues are related to the choices of characters. While it’s nice to have a variety of characters from Awakening and Fates, there should have been more characters from other games in the series.

Also, Shadow Dragon got the short of the end of the stick with only 3 characters. As it stands, the game is more or less Awakening/Fates Warriors, rather than Fire Emblem Warriors. Likewise, the planned DLC does little to fix this issue, opting to expand the three main games and not branching out.

The strategy of focusing on 3 games worked with Hyrule Legends since the Zelda series generally has the same characters anyway.

Continuing the tradition of Fire Emblem, Path of Radiance is an amazing game with an interesting story. While yes many part of it are just rehashing the older games. Noble driven from home by unexpected war with the militaristic nation of the lands that is actually being driven by a darker force behind the scenes, there are a few noticeable changes.

First would like Ike, while he is the player character he is not nobility. Second is the laguz, while yes there have been a few dragon people in the past they were anyways rare and either highly limited or unused for combat, in this one it is three whole races o f creatures; beast which are feline, birds and dragons, that have the ability to transform into a full animal form for a limited number of turns and gain large bonuses but can only attack in transformed state.

Third is the base screen which allows for more preparation than the standard chapter battle prep screens, which it still has. Everything from custom items to special conversations to bonus exp. Fourth system, okay Gamecube is far from perfect but being released on it allowed for better graphics and limited voice acting than the NES, SNES and GBA.

Overall it is one of my favorite games and while I think it is vastly overpriced it is worth picking up if you find it. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get my own after having beat it by borrowing it.

Remember strategy is required this is not a spawn point reached shooter or a save point reached grind till you win RPG. This is a strategy game where something minor like missing out on a character or losing a character can cripple you.

To be honest I was unsure how much I would enjoy this game. I knew about Ike and Fire Emblem in general due to my love for smash bros. Yet now, after sinking countless hours into this game I am sure.

It is absolutely wonderful. In fairness I do love RPG’s and when done right I can appreciate strategy games as well. As a person who is fairly new to this type of tactical RPG I can say that it is good and fairly challenging.

Let me stress, I am not a patient person and often times 1 in game battle sequence will take over an hour, but in Fire Emblem I am too busy planning ahead my next move or rooting for my character when they get a defensive kill.

Overall, there is a learning curve and this game has no problem showing you who the boss is. Especially when you are about to win and one of your character dies permanently. It is very rewarding when you finally finish a phase while sustaining minimum casualties though, and you will be compelled to push forward.

I love this game and definitely recommend it!.

This game is an amazing collectors item for any Fire Emblem die hard. Great gameplay, great story. It may not have some of the modern conveniences of the newer games, but still 10/10.

The game is essentially the same style as the previous two, a strategic war RPG. It has that classic Fire Emblem feel to it, but expanded. You can take a few more units into battle on each chapter, and each engagement animation was polished.

They added some cool animations when one unit attacks twice consecutively. The ability to forge weapons and make them stronger is also pretty awesome. They also seemed to take more care in giving you fair fights in the arena, or at least a chance to withdraw without being killed.

This game also introduced map save points, so if you screw up, you can resume the chapter from where you used the save point on the map, not always from the beginning. They took some steps backward with this one though.

Mounted units can no longer finish their movement after they visit a house or trade with a comrade/convoy. The main character, Marth, is also the only one that can visit villiages, which is kind of annoying.

They also went back to the first game’s style; there is no overworld map between chapters like in Sacred Stones. This also means the arena is the only way to power up your team. Not terrible, the first game was like that, but I liked the overworld map style better.

The worst part is you can no longer rescue teammates. This is a huge problem because blows seem to land a lot more often in this one, and the weapons triangle seems to have a smaller influence. Needless to say, its a lot easier to lose units.

This also means you cannot use your flyers to transport units across mountains, sea, rivers etc. Again, annoying. Overall, it is a good Fire Emblem game, but I’m reluctant to call it a worthy successor to Sacred Stones.

So happy DK Oldies had this title in stock. Shipped quick and arrived in perfect condition! Will definitely be making more purchases in the future!

Before I even start, I know some of you are going to look at the negative response and say “It’s a remake of a NES game, how can you expect it to be really good?” And the truth is, they should have either picked a game actually worth remaking or they should have improved it better.

Why I don’t like this game: -The plot is mediocre at best, and the characters have little to not character (let alone showing any change throughout the storyline). It was nice to get a little back-story on the other games I had played, but it wasn’t enough to truly immerse me in the game.

Also, characters never have conversations, which lead to very little side-plot. -The battle system, although it follows the same general idea of the other Fire Emblems, excludes many important tactical commands.

First of all, Rescue is vital for playing quickly through higher difficulty maps. Some people may claim that the lack of a rescue skill makes it more of a challenge, but I feel it just made the game slower as I had to waste my time slowly inching forward my defensive line and giving my high-damage units rare chances to strike.

-I personally didn’t enjoy the class-changing aspect of the game. It took away the fun of purposely training the classes that you liked most. Now you can train any class and simply change them to a new one at will.

I know it can be used to make your team best for the battle, but it took away one of my favorite RPG elements. It just didn’t feel like you were making a custom fighting force, and rather that someone else was probably doing the exact same thing.

In reality, the only reason why this gets a 2 instead of a 1 is that I still played through the game. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever played, but it definitely doesn’t live up to the fun times I’ve had in other Fire Emblem games.

Also, the fact that it’s below ten dollars now makes it actually worth buying if you like the series.

A real challenge to the newer games to the series. For those of you who have started out playing either Awakening or Fates, this will be a real change to the formula, and for those of you who started out with some of the older games, this will also appeal to you too.

The game harkens back to a more RPG style game play with a sense of free roaming in towns and cities, and dungeons scattered across the realm. The game also boasts some truly rounded characters with depth, complexity, and truly expressionate voice acting to boot.

Die hard fans of the Fire Emblem series will love this game, but it appeals to all fire emblem fans alike, as there is something that appeals to everyone. Whether looking for a challenge, an engaging story or simply a change to the format.

This is a real game changer.
