20 Best Security For An Apartment (2023 Updated)

I bought this system because I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a big brand nor did I want another big monthly bill. It has many pros and cons. The unit itself is deserving of a 4 star review. The app though is along the lines of a 2 star review.

I am reviewing the product as a whole system (alarm and app) with a 3 star rating because that’s how it was advertised and why I bought it. Here is my list of pros and cons. Pros: -Affordable -Easy to set up and program to the app -Expandable with more 433mhz devices, I’ve ordered 2 smoke detectors that should pair with it.

-Very loud -Battery back up -Wi-Fi Internet connection -Wireless sensors easy to install -Motion sensor works great and no false alarms so far. -Door and window sensors have always worked every time I test them.

I’ve never had one not set off the alarm. -Push notifications are very fast -Ability to arm and disarm from phone through app. Cons: -The app is not that great. -App push notifications are VERY quiet and the volume can’t be raised or the ring tone changed.

So it’s easy to miss a push notification. -The home feature on the app does NOT work. The system is either on or off. Certain sensors can be set to permanent protection but if that’s done it still triggers an alarm with the system off.

I contacted the app people about it and they said they “sent it to their techs” -To get texts or calls you must pay a monthly subscription – And the BIGGEST CON that really ticks me off but I can’t prove it is the app gave out my email to SPAM and CON email companies.

As soon as I signed up for the service I started getting tons of junk email and emails posing as other companies like PayPal trying to steal my personal information. I’m pretty sure that maybe another app would work.

I used the Smart Life app which is what the alarm recommended. I tried Tuya but it’s identical to Smart Life and I’m pretty sure it is the same people. The home feature on Tuya didn’t work either and the app was bigger so I went back to Smart Life I do recommend if you sign up on the app to make a different email from your primary and to use it, and to leave the phone number blank.

I mainly bought this as a loud noise deterrent. I’m pretty sure that if a burglar ever entered my home they wouldn’t know what type of system it is making the noise or if it’s monitored and has alerted the police.

Plus I wanted something to wake me if someone tried to enter my home when I sleeping or alert me if I am taking a shower. It works great in those two aspects. But in the app support area and the ability to switch to at home mode being non functioning I’m really disappointed.

But hey it’s 50 bucks, no monthly bills, and is better than nothing. Maybe one day I’ll go with a name brand but for the time being this works. If you are wanting an entry level security system to mostly make noise and wake you or let you know someone is entering the other end of the house this thing is nice.

If you want a fancy system that alerts you on your phone when you’re away from home and you’ll never miss an alert don’t count on this one.

My only issue with this system is that the Alarm is not really loud. Its loud but it’s not as loud as my smoke detector which has a really loud piercing sound. This system will wake a person up if someone comes in but a means of adding an additional speaker would really help.

I’m more interested in scaring an intruder off without pointing my gun at them. Overall a good system. The technology is solid and I tested all the sensors to make sure they work. So far except for the Alarm sound volume this was a good purchase.

If you need to secure a small house or an apartment this is just the system to use. The price is great. My neighbor bought one of the simply systems and paid big bucks for the same technology. This would be great for college students in apartments or even in a dorm room.

I put new batteries in it. It would work great but all day long I have to deal with false alarms. I haven’t hooked up the motion detector. I don’t understand it. It goes off while I’m sitting there for no reason.

I do not recommend this product.

My entire home, yard and now inside our home is under Rings protection and monitoring thanks to the 8-piece Ring security kit. Easy to set up and to avoid a mis-step, Read first the directions for set up.

It has an order to follow and if you pull tabs before the device is needed, it will make it a bit confusing to set up plus may cause the loud alarm to sound. Base station is the brain, keypad is the controller, extender helps keep connected those further away sensors and the entire system is controlled either by the unit keypad or by the Ring app.

The 24/7 monitoring is included in my plan and can be operated by Alexa. Relatively inexpensive and you can grow the system to fit your needs. I really like that it has its own cellular backup and internal rechargeable batteries in case the power fails you are still protected.

Easy to use and set up, basically can run itself via the Ring app and keeps you informed of events that occur in and around your home. With my Ring cams, doorbells and security system all in place, not to mention the 24/7 monitoring, crime may not be stopped but possibly deterred or at least capture the event(s) and will notify the proper authorities if and when events do happen.

You have to protect your home and family the best you can, and this is just another layer for us.

This ring alarm home security system is definitely a must have. I feel so much safer after putting this in my home. When I first opened the box I thought it was going to be a lot of work and difficult to install.

I was very surprised at how easy this was to install and operate. The instructions are very easy to follow and if you need any help they have a 24/7 helpline. This kit comes with a base station, keypad, motion detector, range extender and four contact sensors.

I was able to install the contact sensors on four of my windows and I put the motion detector in my hallway. I really like that I get real time notifications the moment an alarm is set off. I even saw that I can add a security camera or video doorbell to this alarm system so I definitely will be doing that soon.

I really like that the keypad is large and the numbers are easy to see. I also like that you can choose between professional monitoring or self monitoring. Another great thing about this system is that it works with my echo device.

This alarm system is truly a must have. Being able to have a peace of mind knowing that my home is protected when I am there or not there is the greatest feeling ever. I highly recommend this product.

i purchased the Ring Alarm Security Kit 5-piece (2nd-gen) and the Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit as a bundle during Best Buy’s on-line Black Friday sales event and had it delivered to my home since i would receive it earlier than if delivered to the store.

i wanted to replace the large 30+ year old Radio Shack alarm box but keep the wired doors and windows zones since they still worked and according to what i read, the Retrofit Alarm kit is used to interface existing wired doors and windows zones with the Ring Alarm base.

because this review is on the Ring Alarm Security kit and not the bundle i separated the part of my review on the Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit and did it on that item review the Ring Alarm Security Kit contained everything in one box with the instructions to install the alarm and each accessory in the kit.

– the alarm base station was easy to mount once i knew where i wanted to place it. -> i used a piece of paper to mark the holes from the back of the alarm so i knew where to place the screws on the wall to hang the alarm – the keypad was easy to mount since the holder was able to slide off and i used it to mark where to place the screws on the wall to hang the keypad (near the kitchen door) i downloaded the Ring app from the Apple App Store to my iPhone and iPad -> using the Ring App on my iPad: -> configured the Ring Alarm base to connect to my WIFI -> added the keypad -> did not need to add the Range Extender, Motion Detector and Contact Sensor -> you can customize the Ring Alarm base station chime and volume, the brightness of the ‘Ring’ and other things through the Ring app all in all, i like the Ring Alarm system, how easy it was to set up, how small the Ring Alarm base and Retrofit Alarm kit are when compared to the old Radio Shack alarm box which i removed from the wall after i transferred the wired doors and windows zones to the Retrofit Alarm kit.

i like how you get a notification on your device and an audible chime from the alarm base when any zone is opened or closed – all of these are customizable through the Ring app. i would recommend the Ring Alarm Security kit and if you are looking to replace your old working alarm system with working wired zones, then i would recommend the Ring Alarm Retrofit kit (see my review on the Ring Alarm Retrofit kit).

Before you purchase any Ring alarm system you must know that the app doesn’t require your code to disarm. If a home invader knows this then the Duress code used on the keypad is worthless. All the invader has to do while you are under duress is to have you disarm from your smart home.

I unfortunately invested in one of these systems found this out after getting to know the app and getting to know the system. Sure, the app can be deleted but what good would that be when you are away and not able to monitor from your smartphone? The Ring company builds their reputation on being able to use the app to monitor your home while away while away so you wouldn’t want to delete the app.

The app is a friend of the home invader since a code isn’t needed to disarm your system. Perhaps readers might I just tipped off home invaders with this review. Well maybe because of this Ring will correct this major mistake.

I already informed Ring about this. Ring also doesn’t have a review section on their website for anyone to use to write a review. Buyer Beware!!!.

This is a pretty good product. The app has many configurations, and there are ways to use it with Echo, HASS and HomeKit, although limited. Few things why you might want to look elsewhere: – security alarm from homebase will not wake you up unless it’s right next to you.

Eufy doorbell has solid volume but cannot be connected as alarm device to existing homebase. – security issue that they are yet to fix (year+): if someone steals your outdoor camera and presses reset on that camera, the footage from homebase will be gone and you will never know who stole it.

No chances to recover it either, since resetting will unlink it from your account. I like customizations and also $5/month plan for self monitoring and dispatching cops. Still, if I build a security system for a house I’ll live in forever, I rather use SS due to 2 issues above.

I purchased this recently, more for piece of mind than anything else as I live on my own with my small child. Easy to install and the app functions well. Went away for a couple of days to stay with a friend and at about 9pm one night the notifications triggered on my phone.

As I had paired with a camera I could see someone had broken into my house and triggered the motion sensor. Because of the swift alerting process I was able to immediately call the police who arrived on scene within minutes and apprehended the burglar.

This I am told is a rarity when it comes to burglary. It is all thanks to the Eufy system that I knew what was happening and was able to contact the police who responded in record time. I have now purchased further cameras for the outside of my property and have no hesitation in recommending this product for those of us on a budget requiring some home security.

The double stick tape is either super sticky or not. If they drop, there is NO give – they will break and be unusable. I had 2 sensors drop off the door and break. The siren dropped about 2 feet and cracked – same design straight across from each other – and doesn’t work.

Had to order a new one. Programming the new siren to the remotes was a fight.

My garage is loaded with tools. I’ve been looking for a system that wouldn’t break the bank. Kerui security alarm system is so easy to install. Less than 1hour. And There’s no wires. Works great

Nice system, easy to set up and it is effective. I spent 15 minutes to install it. The siren is one of the best you can buy. Price is very reasonable for a good quality product

This was an absolutely easy install! I went from opening the box to a fully installed system in less than an hour! The door and window sensors are wireless so it is literally a matter of just sticking them to the door or window, and they blend-in great and work flawlessly.

The motion sensors are also wireless and are specifically designed to eliminate false alarms from pets – I have a very active cat so I was worried about this, but my cat has been walking all around, and we have not had an issue with false alarms so it works as designed.

The keypad is great too – again no wires. I love the keypad because not only is it wireless meaning you can put it wherever without having to worry about a plug or concealing wires but also because it is designed with simplicity in mind and it really is easy to use.

It also is very compact and blends in nice with my decor. The camera is wide angle so it covers just about all of the large room I put it in very nicely, image quality is great, and its night vision works quite well.

The base station also is very modern looking and will blend in nicely, and boy is it loud – I tested it and believe me you and the neighborhood will know someone is breaking in. Lastly, as if the system itself wasn’t enough, Simplisafe did a fantastic job designing the app – it is intuitive to use and just like the physical equipment, set-up is a breeze.

There is a lot of flexibility to add more equipment such as water leak, more sensors, more cameras, etc. And simplisafe gives you the option to solely monitor it yourself or have their professional team monitor it for you – and the plan they offer seems like a bargain for what you get.

The SimpliSafe 5 Piece Wireless Home Security System is affordable protection for your home. It is very easy to install and setup. Only took me about 20 minutes to have everything up and running. I like that the professional monitoring is optional and not required to use the system.

I got the 12 piece bundle and this system is so sleek, and easy to install it’s amazing. All the sensors and the keypad come with attached adhesive strips to hang them. Definitely download the app and register first.

Tge app walks you right through everything and makes installation a breeze. We used the booklet as an aid as well. Highly recommend that. We got multiple door and window sensors, two motion sensors, and an indoor cam, plus key fob and keypad.

After seeing how well everything works together, I will be adding two outdoor cams and possibly the doorbell. Notifications to your cell phone and the base inside the house relays alerts too. There is an add on siren as well and lots of other options to secure your home from damage as well as intruders.

Definitely recommend this system for home security. My phone isn’t allowing me to add pictures for some reason but it arrives as pictured. Very very nice system.

This is one of the very few motion detectors that serves as a training deterent for the dogs who counter surf. Anything with sqare edges makes it is easy to put one unit on the inside and outside – two units together can go under a plate or platter.

I have even put this device in a brown paper bag with bacon Beggin strips and it alerts perfectly. After a few alarms all I had to do was put the unit in front of the temptation and my dogs gave up even trying.

I have no idea how well it works as a security measure other than my oreos and butter dish are now safe – Maybe the description should include dog training ??? I am recommending this to my students (I teach dog training classes).

This item is awesome! I bought for my elderly mother that has dementia and tries to escape. I installed on my front door and at night switch it on. The chime is loud enough to alert you when the door is opened; if you’re in a room near by.

Otherwise, if you’re in a room further away in the house the alarm is VERY loud and will let you know if someone is exiting or trying to get in!! Easy install with self sticking adhesive included!.

Love it! I didn’t want all the bells and whistles of a home security company; I just wanted something that will let me know when someone enters my home; The prices is great and the sound of the alarm is “deafening” which makes it a great buy for the money; I like that you can choose between chime or alarm because you can determine which door opened by the sound; I definitely will recommend this little guy! By the way, the double sided tape is a beast as it won’t let go of the alarm to change the battery :).

I absolutely love this system. It’s loud enough for even my neighbors to hear if we have an intruder and it was easy to set up. The instructions were a bit confusing but that was our only issue.

I really love this unit. I thought that because itdidn’t cost much,that no way it would loud or easy to use or put in place. After reading the short instructions, in 7 minutes I had everything in place and working.

Easy instructions, easy installation and works well. The only thing I’d change is the amount of delay time should be reduced, particularly when entering. 30 seconds just allows too much time for someone who’s potentially breaking in, to move around and get back out before it triggers.

When entering, the resident only needs about 10-15 seconds to punch in a 4-digit code.

I recently purchased and set up a 32 component SimpliiSafe system. Set up was extremely easy alternating either through keypad or iPhone app, being prompted through each different added sensor/detector and getting status confirmation of each addition as I proceeded.

The entire system has so far worked flawlessly. This system replaced a ‘professional’ wireless central station monitored system I had installed over 25 years ago. The SimpliSafe system is at least equal to most of my previous system and exceeds it with regard to operational differences of the motion & glass break detectors and far exceeds the old system with regard to entry sensor size (1/3 my prior sensor and much less obtrusive) and placement options, alarm notification options, mobile WI-Fi, cellular and desktop connectivity capabilities.

Telephone set up and operational queries are promptly answered and handled with expertise. I have not experienced initiating a central monitoring call by inadvertently tripping the alarm as yet, but anticipate it will be handled in the same professional manner as what I have already experienced from SimpliSafe to date.

Of note, one of my phone calls posed a few questions regarding features that either I did not see as available (eg: account access on multiple devices [think spousal sharing] using different or linked e-mail addresses rather than the administrators e-mail address) and was told many other clients had made the same request and that the developers were working on a solution.

The fact the company was willing to entertain suggestions on new, or improved, concepts to integrate in their system development is very hopeful that additional inhancements will be available in the future.

First security system I’ve ever used and 10/10 recommend. The process to set up and monitor really is simple. Sensor are quick to respond and I feel the value is great. Got it as the deal of the day for an awesome price.

SimpliSafe is the ultimate DIY home security system. You are in control of how you monitor your home and how much or how little assistance from SimpliSafe, by way of sensors/cameras and monitoring you would like to have.

Setting up the system is ridiculously easy. You create an account in the SimpliSafe app, then power on you base station. The base station comes with battery backup in case of a power outage, and also comes with cellular backup, to dial out to their monitoring service.

Once the base station is fully powered on and ready, you start adding your accessories. This is where SimpliSafe really shines to me. They offer just about any sensor type you could imagine, and compared to other full service, semi or even fully DIY systems, they are so much more affordable.

You start with the keypad, it comes preassigned to your base station, so once it’s powered on, it auto connects, nothing to do. Then in the app, you can start adding your included sensors. Go into Device Settings and click on the type of sensor you are adding, push the button on the sensor to put it in pairing mode, and it’s recognized by your base station with a audible verbal alert.

You can then name the sensor with default labels from the app, or call it something unique to your situation or location. You can also then manage if the sensor trigger an instant alarm, and how it should behave in your different armed settings – Off, Home and Away.

I’ve found that if you place the base station in a central part of your home, there is no place in my home that I cannot connect a sensor. We have a two story home with basement, about 5K sq feet. Every sensor connected right away, no connection issues at all.

One of the hidden features that is such a tremendous option is the ability for the system to configure a Duress pin, and up to 5 additional pin numbers for various family and friends. Your main pin allows you to configure, arm and disarm the system overall.

but the Duress pin is such a great feature, if you are being forced to enter a pin into your system, you can enter an alternate pin that will immediately alert the monitoring service so law enforcement can be dispatched without having to contact you.

Such a great feature, could save a life. And the ability to have different pins for members of the family or friends, who you trust to arm and disarm the system, but not be able to make changes, is such a great addition as well.

If you feel that you would like more sensors than what came in your package, SimpliSafe offers a huge variety, from additional window and door sensors, to motion sensors, and even things like water, glass break, additional sirens, keyfobs and more.

You can dial in the sensors that fit your home/lifestyle. If you want sensors on every door and window, you can do that. If you want entry sensors on just the main doors, and motion sensors everywhere else, you can do that.

The level of customization and configuration that you can achieve is wonderful. The entry and motion sensors and super responsive, with immediate audile tones when triggered. Motion sensors capture movement from 15’-30’ away, so for large rooms that are ideal.

And they have a great field of view, so you can place one in a corner and get coverage across a large area. The cameras are a great addition to the system as well, and both the indoor camera and their new outdoor camera performed very well.

The one drawback to the cameras however is you can only live view them when not signed up for monitoring that includes camera storage, or if you don’t sign up for the self monitoring with camera plans.

Basically, you get no recorded camera history of any event. Not for 24 hrs back, not for 1 hr back. Nothing. This is something I would seriously think about changing if I were SimpliSafe. To have these cameras added to your security system gives you so much extra piece of mind, but without an option to record events, for any amount of time, without paying another fee to add that, defeats the purpose.

Imagine you have your camera set to trigger an alarm, but you get no recorded event of what the camera actually saw. Now with the monitoring plans, the standard plan offers you nothing for camera recordings.

The higher tier Interactive plan gives you unlimited recordings for up to 10 cameras. That is such a huge disparity. Nothing on one and everything on the other? Meet us in the middle here SimpliSafe! The camera quality was pleasantly surprising.

Both the indoor and outdoor are 1080p, so nothing to yell home about, but the picture quality was very good. The newer outdoor camera actually comes apart, which I was not a fan of. You need to open it up to remove the battery to charge it.

Nice if you ever need to replace it at some point, but taking a security camera apart just to charge it seems a bit too outdated to me, and unnecessary. You get a nice 140 degree FOV and it comes with two way audio and even a spotlight for low light situation, which is a great addition.

It handles white balance extremely well, I was shocked. Overly bright scenes were tamed and looked really good, compared to other wireless cameras I have. You can enable push notifications for triggered events so you never miss a potential issue, and you can set the camera to trigger the alarm right away.

The camera is also an extra alarm siren, which is neat. And I love how SimpliSafe configures their activity zone for determining when to trigger an event. They allow you to tap boxes on a grid that you “don’t” want to capture motion.

I love this. Most all other cameras make you select an area that you “do” want to trigger events. I would much prefer to select areas of the camera FOV that I DON’T want alerts or triggers. Love that they included this with the cameras.

Their indoor Simplicam, which they ‘ve had for a while now, works great as well. It even has a privacy shutter that covers the lens when not in use, for added piece of mind, but motion can trigger the camera to come to life and open the shutter to start streaming or recording events.

The Simplicam also has a verification feature, that if allowed by you, if an alarm is triggered, the monitoring service can see what your camera sees in real time, to help verify to threats and respond that much faster and appropriately.

Overall, the system is a DIY dream, I just wish they would allow some form of event recording on their cameras when self monitoring, even if its just the events that triggered an alarm. That way you have something for the authorities in an emergency.

I love all the configuration you can perform on the sensors and cameras, and the prices for monitoring and even the camera recording options are very competitive with the market. I’ve not had a single issue with my system and I would recommend it to anyone looking to ditch the more expensive, locked in contracts type of systems.

There is no mention on SimpiSafe’s main website that inorder to use all the features of their App you must spend 24. 99/month. The website mentions that monitoring is 14. 99/month and when you go down to the section on the App it does not say that it is extra to use the main features.

Nor is there a mention that for video record and playback for the cameras that if you do not want professional monitoring at 24. 99/month it will cost you 4. 99/month per camera. I found out about the 4.

99/month charge when I installed the door bell video camera. At this point I had not installed the main system and was unaware of the 24. 99 option. I found that the door video is not of much value without the video recording.

It did a fairly good job of letting you know of action around the door via alerts, but by the time you open tne app and look at a live video whatever caused the alert was gone. I saw that I could get rcording for 4.

99/month. However. another well known brand charged less than 3. 00/month. Called SimpliSafe and told the agent that I wanted to return the Door Bell and the reaon why. The agent didn’t tell me that I had the 24.

99/month plan and that did not need to pay an extra 4. 99 above what I thought was a 14. 99 plan. The agent sent me a prepaid return label via email, The installation of the main security system was easy.

My main concern was how well the base station would work over cellular since the signal in my home was weak. Therefore, I did not activite the wifi portion of the system since it will use wifi if the cellular signal is too weak.

I noticed that using the app via phone or laptop was not acting right. Called SimpliSafe and was told they would send a Verizon cellular module to be placed in the base station instead of the T-Mobile that was in it.

The agent did not mention that most of the features of the app would not work properly without wifi. The replacement module came, I installed it, but the app kept indicating that there was a weak cellular signal and that I should move the base station to different location in the house.

While playing around with the features on the app I saw that my plan was 24. 99/month when I thought it was 14. 99/month. I called SimpliSafe about the issue with the signal and thre app. Was told that the cellular signal now seemed to be ok, but for the app to work the wifi would have to be activited on the base station.

I switched subject to my monthly monitoring fee. I was told if I only wanted the 14. 99/month service the app would be very limited; no alerts, no ability to change features of the devices, and no ability to arm or disarm the base system via app.

I mentioined this was the first I heard of the 24. 99/month and that their web site did not mention any additional fee to use the features on the app. I like the system and I cannot see using the system without a fully functional app.

You can use the app on as many cell phones as you want and thus you really don’t need extra keypads to turn the system off, home, or away. So instead of using or buying extra fobs, just use the app. That being said I can’t see spending an extra 120.

00/year for the app. The monitoring was already more expensive than another well known DIY system, but I liked so of the features of the SimpliSafe system thus willing to pay extra for services. The agents Simplisafe all said that even though there was no mention of the additional cost for the use of the app it is what it is.

The indicated that Icould get one to six months of monitoring free, but then the monthly would return to 24. 99. I’m returning the SimpliSafe system while I still can (you have 60 days via simpliSafe) and going to this other well known Brand that you get the features of the app and monitoring for 100.

00/per year instead of 299. 88. If you don’t want monitoring or don’t care what you pay for monitoring this is a good system.

I’m using this system as a back-up to a previously installed wireless home alarm system. The Simpli-Safe system ie very easy to install, operates well, and allows great flexibility to add or relocate sensors.

which are small and unobtrusive. The lighted central alarm tower provides a great deal of confidence in the overall system. The system’s wireless remote and the key-pad are well designed and are easy to use, see and operate.

Although it is an expensive system, the overall performance is worth the cost. The warning signage provided with the system is a great benefit, as are the numerous media commercials that let nefarious characters know what a Simpli-Safe system can do, and thus provide even greater preventive residential protection.

The system comes well packaged with good instruction sheets. It’s a good buy that makes me feel secure in my home.

This is my 2nd system. I needed one for my weekend lake house now. My main home system has been in place for about 5 years or so and I will say the new improvements on this system are nice. Took about 15 minutes to install.

Everything is stuck with adhesive “command type” strips. The only issue is that being in a rural area in East Texas, the cellular service that is standard in the system doesn’t work. A simple call to tech support and they overnighted a new cellular part that installs very easy.

I had to do the same on our old system. (I believe t-mobile is standard but Verizon is what they replaced it with). Love Simplisafe and they are always ready to help. As for monitoring, You can choose to have “no” monitoring (free) but the alarm will just make noise and that’s it.

No monitoring by an actual person. For $14. 99 you get the basic service – no extras but system is monitored and they will call if alarm sounds. $24. 95 allows you to control system from a smart phone and is monitored of course.

Note** If you have the system monitored, be sure to tell your home owners insurance company so that you can receive a discount on premiums. You can print the monitoring certificate on the website after you login.

I have shopped around for both wired and wireless security systems. Now while a good portion of companies may offer similar items that simplisafe offers i can readily state the following. I am both highly confident in this system as well as highly pleased at how easy it is to set up and if questions arise, simplisafes customer service is ready and willing to help.

Simplisafe offers just a bit more with devices then companies like adt or vivant, with devices like, a freeze sensor, flood sensor and glass break sensor i have no doubts that i can not only sleep soundly but also leave my house even if for a few hours or a day knowing im covered and in good hands.

And now onto the best part that really finalized the descion no fine print, no hidden or sneaky practices. When they state what you see is what you get they mean it. When they say when you buy the equipment its yours no hidden or additional fees they mean it.

And while it might be pricey to me when it comes to ones personal safety weather its protecting your home, your self or loved ones from a robbery or fire or c02 price shouldn’t matter. What should matter is what simplisafe offers and that is the honesty and the quality of their product and the integrity to stand by it no matter the cost.

I own this system and i personally stand by every word this system and the company is worth every dime.

Originally was left this camera (& other SimpliSafe equipment) by the previous home owners who failed to disconnect this camera from their SimpliSafe account. Cannot get in touch with previous owners to disconnect it & SimpliSafe can’t disconnect it due to a theft policy.

All understandable. So instead, I ordered a “new” one from Best Buy; which was actually apparently a return. I set it up & same issue – says the camera is already connect to another account. Says to contact previous owners to remove it from their account before being able to use it.

This was a returned product, no clue who the previous owners were. Called SimpliSafe’s customer care who cannot assist. Suggested returning to Best Buy. I am now having to drive an hour to return this returned one & try to repurchase another one because I really need it to monitor a new pet in the next 2 days.

Really wish we weren’t already in the SimpliSafe ecosystem of cameras & security. Can say for sure that if the previous owners didn’t already have a lot of these sensors already set up & we were starting fresh with a security system, we definitely would have chose with a different brand.

I just got my Simplisafe—Simplicam Indoor 1080HD Wi-Fi security camera recently. Looks really modern overall, — and looks good in the living room. The camera was really easy to setup. The wide angle is really nice.

I can expand/shrink the view with the fingers on my phone screen. One drawback was the inability to record without a subscription. You can close the shutter for complete privacy which is good in case of hacking intrusion.

Once you open the shutter, you are “armed” and ready to get notifications. When the shutter is closed it is basically off. Easy to use. Good to have in tandem with my commercial type of security system.

If my alarm goes off, I can get a visual with this camera. I won’t need the microphone audio because of my loud alarm. You can choose to omit it, which I did. The picture is clear enough for my needs.

Nice in the dark imaging. It picks up movement and sends me the notification banner to my phone. Then, it is easy to go to the app and pull a live video of the event. The camera and the mount are rock solid and well made.

Has a long enough cord to go from top of entertainment furniture to socket. Great for my needs.

This little security camera is perfect for monitoring a room or small space. The packaging is appealing, and the setup is quick with easy to follow instructions. The connecting cable is difficult to plug into the camera as the plug is deep in a crevice.

You just have to feel around until it snaps into place, but other than that, the rest of the setup is just a matter of plugging the camera into an outlet and following the brief how to in the accompanying app.

This camera has tons of features! The picture is in color and super clear, and you get both audio and video of whatever you’re monitoring. There is a few second lag between what is happening in real time and when it shows up on the app.

One of the features is the ability to hold a button on the app and record a message that comes through the speaker on the camera. This might come in useful if you’re away from your pet or monitoring a child from another room.

I am using it to monitor my dog in my camper when I have to leave her in there to run an errand. There is an option (fairly cheap) for a subscription that allows you to record what’s being monitored so that you can save it to share with police (if needed) or someone else.

There is also a cheat sheet in the box to remind you of what the different colors on the camera mean (connected, can’t connect, etc). This camera also seems highly secure. There is an option to close the camera shutter for privacy when you don’t want it to monitor.

The steaming is also encrypted both ways and meets a level of security standards. The camera detects the heat signature of humans so that it doesn’t go off every time a pet moves, and it can also detects and adapts to rooms with low light levels.

You do have to have it connected to WiFi for it to work, and since there’s no power button, you just have to unplug it to turn it off. Overall, it’s a great camera, is small and portable, and is high quality.

I think we all want to feel a little more secure these days. I know that’s especially true living in a big city right now. I’ve had SimpliSafe for a year. I have not found it to be very user-friendly.

The controls are very dated. Although it can be turned off, the light on the base station is ridiculously bright and will keep you up at night. The key fob stopped working almost instantly. The panic button is shoddy and I had to say a prayer and have a damn Séance get it to work again after changing the battery.

The door/window sensors don’t work most of the time (when they are not falling off) especially after changing the batteries, which is no small feat. No HomeKit or Alexa Integration. Did I mention how abysmal the batteries are? Did I mention how difficult it is to change batteries and have a working product after? The camera is stationary and not very stable, as it sits on a stand and you can’t use other branded cameras for integration.

What’s truly sad is that I bought this for a feeling of safety and protection as crime is RISING and I have anything but a feeling of safety and or protection for me and my dog. And it’s expensive too for the equipment and service!.

I heard about SimpliSafe through various radio ads and so I thought I would give them a try. I’ve had the system for a few years now. The system was very easy to set up and use. However, the cameras are not very reliable nor is the video playback feature in the app.

I have a doorbell cam and a regular camera. I have to spend $24. 99 a month just to be able to use those cameras with the system and it is just not worth what I am paying for. I have fast internet, 1000mbps up and am down, but when you get a notification for a camera, it takes forever to load.

The video recording drops off all the time and the connectivity is not reliable. Playback in the app is a nightmare. It is so slow and instead of having a ticker that you can slide back-and-forth you have to skip ahead or backwards 10 seconds at a time and that is really slow and aggravating.

I have also used Ring cameras and their system is much better and more user friendly. In closing, the setup is easy and the system is easy to use. There are other options such as Ring security that are superior to this system.

If I knew that I could sell my system and get something else to replace it, I would probably make that investment but right now I’m too broke. Lol!.

The outdoor camera will not connect to my base station. I’ve called Simplisafe and I’ve spoken with at least 3 different people in the tech department and no one is able to tell me why it won’t work.

And before you ask, I’ve done the following:Replaced the base station and camera twice, made sure that my internet is on 2. 4Ghz, made sure no other device in my home is on 2. 4Ghz, completed all updates on the base station, Simplisafe app and my phone, the base station is not located on the floor, all items (base station, camera and key pad) are at least 2 feet away from each other, rebooted my internet, rebooted the base station, rebooted the keypad and anything else you can think of.

The crazy part is that I took the camera to my sibling’s house and was able to connect it to their Simplisafe base station with no problem. I have no idea what it is with my home that won’t allow the outdoor camera to connect because the doorbell camera connected fine.

The worst part about this all is that the camera was purchased through Best Buy and there was a 15 day return window that was missed. So now I’m out $170 for a camera that I cannot use. I’m switching to Wyze.

I have been in the market for a few years now for a home security/monitoring system but have never pulled the trigger. There’s so many options and many are very expensive, either because they require professional installation, exorbitant monitoring fees or overpriced equipment.

SimpliSafe does away with most of these things. The monitoring isn’t absurdly expensive, from as 9. 99 to 24. 99 a month. You can go it alone with their free unmonitored system, but they won’t dispatch anyone or give you any recording with the cameras.

The free plan essentially just gives you Realtime monitoring while you’re in the app and notifications through the app/phone if there’s a tripped sensor or motion detected. The plans are all different offer different levels of options.

If you want peace of mind, then the monthly $25 is likely worth it. As someone with limited income, I’ll personally be relegated to the free unmonitored plan. Setup is a breeze. Mounting the sensor’s and camera’s is quick and straight forward.

For the sensors and Keypad, there’s no drilling required, everything has adhesive tape and it’s more than strong enough and holds well. There’s also some extra adhesive strips included should you make a mistake.

The camera’s do require some small drilling, in my case as we have brick, you’re going to need some masonry bits to install if you don’t have any wood anywhere to setup the cameras. The Picture quality at 1080p of the cameras either at night or during the day is very very good.

I was quite impressed honestly and hope other companies take notice of this. Adding each part to the system is done by installing their app, some of the devices can be added from the Keypad, then you simple press a button on the sensor/camera or other device and it will prompt that the device has been added, then you just finish the steps in the app.

It’s all relatively quick and painless. Some advice with placement of the system, would be to have your Base Station in a central part of your home to ensure enough coverage. Sadly because of the brick, I wound up having to spend more money to get a Wi-Fi extender cause it seems my $600 Network setup isn’t enough.

Our house is right around 1500sq-ft and apparently my router which I can connect to from 500 feet down the street with my phone doesn’t offer “enough range” to keep my cameras consistently connected.

I also had some trouble with getting one of the cameras setup as it would refuse to connect to my network even with it being in the same room as the router, but the replacement that was sent corrected that problem.

All the devices have replaceable batteries in them, the Cameras are rechargeable and you can also purchase a Solar Panel to keep them charged. The Panel is recommended if you live in an area where you might get a lot of alerts with foot or vehicle traffic.

Thankfully you can “screen out” certain areas of the cameras view so it doesn’t get constantly tripped and therefore drain the battery. Either way, it’s a good system. I wish the camera’s had SD card slots to record to though because without any monitoring or being able to see what might have happened doesn’t really make it feel like a security system, but more of a passive deterrent.

Perhaps this will be an option in future camera versions. The long and short of it, if you want something easy to setup and don’t mind a monthly fee, the SimpliSafe system will be right up your alley.

If you don’t want to pay for monitoring and would rather rely on cameras that have storage in them, you’re going to want to look elsewhere.

Like others, I’ve seen many ads for SimpliSafe on YouTube and other places. And from my experience, it seems to live up to most expectations. From a setup perspective, it’s very easy to use. The box is very well laid out and has a very clear step-by-step guide for installing the system.

The base station, cameras, sensors, and keypad are all in their own smaller boxes with everything that particular item needs for installation and its own instructions, so there’s no hunting for which screws go with which component.

The keypad and door/window sensors can be mounted using screws, but they also use normal Command Adhesive strips as well. This makes it easy to reuse or relocate them in the future. The door sensors can be used not only on regular doors and windows, but also kitchen or bathroom cabinets, safes, drawers, and anything else that opens more than two inches.

Note that everything connects over 2. 4 GHz wireless, so the system can’t use a 5 GHz WiFi home network. It also might limit how far away some components can be installed, such as whether your home WiFi reaches a shed or out building on your property.

The base station is powered from the wall, but everything else is battery operated. The cameras require screws for mounting, as they are heavier, but they use a clever magnetic gimbal mount. This makes it easy to adjust the angle of the camera, and you can simply pull if off if you need to.

The field of view ( FOV ) is wide and a little wall-eyed, but it’s also enough to cover my entire backyard when mounted to an out building. Though the camera battery life is rated for months, it depends on how they’re configured.

By default, they only turn on and record when they detect movement. Otherwise they’re in stand-by. You can set which areas in their field of view will trigger them, so if one has a partial view of a street it won’t waste its battery recording the cars passing by.

However, if there’s heavy movement in the camera’s area, the battery will only last a few weeks at most. With the magnetic mount, it’s easy to grab the camera and bring it inside to charge. you can also purchase spare camera batteries to just swap them out without needing to re-angle the camera.

You can disable motion detection if you want, turning the camera into a live-feed only mode. This may be helpful if you want something to monitor your kids playing in the back yard, but don’t want the camera recording everything.

The cameras also have a speaker and can provide two-way audio, allowing you to speak from your phone or tablet and have it output from the camera. Again, a useful feature for kids playing in the back yard.

Camera recording are not stored locally, but instead on SimpliSafe’s servers. The alarm system itself has three main modes: Off, Home, and Away. Each mode can have different entry and exit delays and whether there’s an instant alarm.

The entry sensors can each be configured with different behaviors for each of the alarm modes too. You can also configure multiple PINs for the system, such as a master PIN, PINs for guests or children that disable the alarm but don’t allow system configuration changes, and even a duress PIN that will immediately trigger a silent alarm if an intruder is forcing you to disable the alarm system.

Sadly, the cameras can’t be configured to have different behaviors for the different alarm modes. I would love to disable motion detection on the back yard camera when the alarm is off, but turn it on when the alarm is engaged.

And though you can configure the mobile app to give you reminders to engage or disable the alarm, you can’t set a normal schedule for it to auto arm itself. SimpliSafe of course has various service plans to go with this, adding features like immediate police, fire, or emergency medical notification and dispatch, video verification ( their monitoring service will check the recordings and live feed from your cameras to ensure a triggered alarm is valid before notifying police ), and cellular data backup so the base station stays in contact with the monitoring service if the WiFi goes down.

If you don’t pay for a plan, you still have full control over the alarm and triggers ( though no automatic police notification ), but you lose any kind of video camera historical recording functionality.

This is probably the biggest hit because the cameras are only good for live feed monitoring. The motion detection feature becomes useless because you can’t configure the cameras to save the recordings locally.

All in all, this seems like a very affordable and reasonable option for a home security system. It’s also very modular so you can add on components and sensors as you need. But not allowing cameras to change behavior with the alarm mode, and not allowing any kind of local video recording ( even if it was limited to only 10 min of video and 1 day of archives on the base station itself ) is a big downside to the DIY homeowners.

I found this incredibly easy to install, you plug in the hub, download the app – update the software. Activate the batteries items in the kit are pre linked and its easy to link additional items. You then test the signal strength of your sensors in the desired locations, I had full strength even in my garage which is detached.

You can name the sensors so you know which one has been triggered. Installed the box and key pad and it was ready to go. You can carry out a walk test to ensure everything is working as it should. The app has quite a few features on it so you will need to play about with it for a bit until you know your way around it.

Its true the instructions arent that great but its pretty self explanatory and the app pretty much runs you through it. I installed the key pad at the point of entry and not upstairs like it says in the introductions, otherwise youll need to be fumbling around with your phone when you come home.

On the key pad you need to press the unlock button then input your code before it will deactivate, thats pretty much the only thing that confused me a bit. I bought three pet sensors because of my daft cat – so far so good.

You can get app notifications when the alarm is armed/disarmed and sms if the alarm goes off. I paid 224 for the hub kitwith outside box, 2 sensors 1 door contact sensor 1 key pad which I thought was a good price.

You can omit certain sensors with the part arm function. There are no weird expensive special batteries to replace thy were either AA or AAA and the larger D for the alarm box. I have not had any false alarms since installing it.

So in conclusion- if you have a smart phone and can use it and know how to drill some holes in a wall youll be fine with this and I would definitely recommend it. Plenty of peace of mind now.

Bought new on eBay saving s. Felt confident with the Yale brand and support network. Fitting the wireless PIR’s, Keypad, hub and external siren was physically easily but set up was a bit daunting (and Im not afraid of technology).

All the components already set up on the system but there are quite a few minor inputs required. However, within the 3 hours allowed online the system was working using the phone app to arm and disarm.

The keypad did cause me some difficulty in that it would arm but not disarm, making for a quick opening of the phone app to silence the siren. After consulting ‘troubleshooting’ I found Id not ‘initialised’ the keypad.

This done I still had the same problem and the help desk quickly ran me through it. Turned out I needed to press the disarm padlock before the numeric code! Yes it is a little complicated. Maybe a bit confusing, but Im much happier with my security now.

Should the alarm be disarmed while out, or intruders activate it, I get an immediate notification on the phone. We have a cctv camera system (not Yale) too by which we can remotely view by smartphone.

I was complacent about security until next door but one was burgled just before Christmas and ransacked, losing all their presents and more. They did not have an alarm. Now, after thatwake up call, we can rest easy in the knowledge that our home is no easy target for the opportunist burglar or thief.

I recommend this system without hesitation and only give 4 stars as I suspect some buyers would baulk at the complexity. Dont, there is good back up support at hand.

Can’t fault this alarm so far. I had 4 local and national companies come in to quote me and they were so expensive. Was recommended to try by a friend and feel like it is such a reasonable price for what you get.

Seriously easy to set up took only minutes, wireless, straight forward app, paired with phone and all sensors straight away. I’m a lady and found the internal sensors so easy to mount and even mounted the external bell box which again was relatively easy once I’d established which drill bits I needed.

Door sensor can be stuck or screwed and that’s it. Tested a few times everything seems to work perfectly. Love that you can arm and disarm from anywhere and get notifications whenever sensor are triggered.

In terms of value for money this is exceptional obviously there are better systems out there but they come at a price very happy with this yale system.
