I’m pretty sure the quality of the chain is top notch. As far as finding a padlock for it, be prepared to do some hunting! I’ve tried numerous locks only to find out they don’t fit! The links on this chain are really small.

Superficially at least (I’m not going to try and cut it for the purposes of this review) it looks very strong and very well made. At this price-point, I’d way rather buy this than some of the other security chains out there that are 2-3 times the price.

One thing to be aware of — these things barely measure up to their measured length, so order longer than shorter if you’re not sure.

Solid like all ABUS products. Two feet is pretty short but it does allow you to enclose shapes that a U lock might not get around.

Honestly I have more security on my bike than most people, but nothing beats a big heavy looking chain. Just the mere sight of this poking out underneath my rain cover (another great theft deterrent) and I feel confident that anyone else looking at it would rather go find someone else’s bike to nick.

The chain is large, heavy, loud and makes my bike look more secure than fort knox. I’ve got an alarmed disc lock on the same wheel I put this through, so there is absolutely no way my bike is going without a fight.

This lock is “sold secure” so when I told my insurance company they said that this lock is covered by their policy, meaning that it has been proven to be a great deterrent from thieves.

The chain is a decent size and weight but not too bad would consider putting in my pack if I didn’t have a disk lock. The chain and lock are a deterrent and I guarantee they will probably try the lock before the chain the lock feels cheap and has a plastic housing and feels very cheap.

The lock also doesn’t have a dust cover for the key hole as stated. I took it out of the package and unlocked it made the mistake of pulling the key back out and fought for ten minutes to get the locking mechanism out of the way while pinching them and turning the key multiple time as if it was bound up.

Will be replacing the lock after my trip just need to chain the bike to my hitch carrier. How ever it is still a deterrent.

Well worth the money. Good value. I’m no expert bike thief but the chain is chunky and heavy, the lock seems solid. Seems to me they would both be hard to cut. I’d recommend. Get at least 2 metres, longer if possible.

What a tough lock. This lock wont fit into your bike back solo seat space but city granit extreme will. I have both and this lock is much heavier and bulkier so it has to stay at one spot like apartment complex locked to a pole and then you lock you bike.

Seriously if no lock is perfect lock from theft but why bother with the lock if another bike is parked couple stalls back without anything. The less time thiefs can spend next to joke the better thats just a comment sense.

The lock features a heavy lock compartment and nice sleeve that will protect the paint. The chain is not too long so you have to be preatty close to a pole or to what you want to lock it to. I personally lock my from rear going though rear wheel and frame so no wheel can be taken or they will have to take the frame or someone-how cut the lock.

For city type going places like mall i would reccomend city granit city extreme and it will fit 07 gsxr 600 solo seat space bo problem. I had it done and used it a lot. No matter this is the top as you can go.

First i though buying on guard but then came across this abus lock and now i have two. I must say it is pricy but think about how much your bike cost with all the upgrades u put to it and then its your toy so secure it and minimize a risk of being takes somewhere else it doesnt want to be.

This thing is hefty. It hasn’t been tested against thieves yet but it looks and feels sturdy as hell. I wish it were just a foot longer to lock my ride to the telephone pole outside my apartment, but it works for now.

A beefy chain that will definitely help with theft. The goal is to always be more work to steal then the bike next to you, and this will help you accomplish that. The chain is a good length and easy to work with.

It also has some neat features, the most useful being the LED light key for those times you’re locking up at night, and the lock will only work with the key in it so you can not accidently lock it up without a key.

Now for negatives, I’ve had this for about two months now and on two occasions the key felt would not go into the lock. I really did not want to force it in and damage it so I played around with it for a minute then it went in.

Possibly just needs to be used more and broken in? As it stands now I will recommend this chain. If it breaks I will be back to change this review. Cheers.

I recently converted my Ridgeback World Voyage bike to electric assist so thought I would increase the security by using the Abus City Chain Plus lock. I feel much more confident when leaving my bike in vulnerable places.

It is heavy and a little unwieldy, but my bike has at times four panniers and a trailer so the weight is not a problem. However ,it would be for lightweight cycling.

Very easy to use with good protective cover to avoid scratches. At 140cm it’s easily long enough to wrap around street furniture and my bike (+ my wife’s bike when we’re out together). I carry it wrapped around my seat post and frame.

I was looking for something that looks and feels solid to put off the bicycle thieves around here after having my previous bike stolen when they cut through a 10mm cable lock. Does the job admirably.

Go pick on something easier thieving S#%mbags. Or better yet become law abiding upright citizens so we don’t have to carry around big hefty locks to put you off. Yes it’s heavy (2. 65kg for the 140cm version) but if you’re not worried about shaving seconds off your commute to work it doesn’t really matter.

I wanted very tough chainlock to my scooter, and for that I searched the selection from my own country household shops etc. Prices here were double what in Ebay on average so next I went thru most of what was on ebay on this type of item.

I dont buy this kind of product without carefully comparing the details. Absolutely best product on its kind compared what`s on sale here. This was not only a decent priced with delivery option to north Europe, but it was also high quality product.

The chain metal is massive 8 mm thick, unlike most of what is for sale that are 4-6 mm diameter. Then there is the nylon cover that protects scooters wheel paint. Some chains have that but are not fastened to the ends well like this one.

The lock comes with 3 keys. The lock itself is smooth and tough and easy to operate. You unlikely find this good product for this price elsewhere.

Tried the 10mm version, which was really heavy. This one is nearly 2kg lighter, and feels more than strong enough to lock several bicycles to the floor. If you are going to take it out-and-about I would go for the shorter one to save weight, but then you are likely to have to remove the front wheel to get wheels and frame all locked to a bike park.

The non-scratch chain sleeve is great,but because of the weight, I am still very careful feeding it through delicate spokes and over paintwork.

Firstly the pros :I like the fact it has an integrated locking system, as I was using a heavy thick chain before with a 1. 50 padlock (Stupid I know) It’s easy to lock and fits under the seat on my honda cb500 as it’s VERY flexible and light.

Also I like the fact it comes with lots of spare keys. The cons: I use it in combination with an alarmed disc lock, as it is quite thin and in my opinion would not take much to cut through. It’s more of a deterrent than anything.

Overall it’s a good chain when I am out and about but for overnight protection I would recommend a thicker chain. Hope this helps you guys out.

I was skeptical about ordering from here after reading some bad reviews, but my experience was nothing but positive. The lock arrived on time and works like a charm. It is as many people mentioned bit fast to arm it self, but after few weeks of practice I can get it of and put it on before the alarm goes of even with a chain combo.

The quality is definitely worth the money, I had another lock before that was reviewed almost just as well, but after comparing them this lock is definitely on another level. I feel much more confident leaving my motorcycle with it.

Very well made disc lock & chain. I would have been happy to keep it but the disc lock itself did not fit the brake disc on my Suzuki GSX-R750. Unfortunately I had to return it though this was expensive due to it’s weight.

This lock’s 8 out of 10 rating is realistic in my experience and has only been broken by a hoodlum with a tire iron who twisted the chain until it pulled out of the end piece. This caused gauges to the bike top tube but nothing destructive thsnks to the heavy duty nylon sleeve covering the chain.

I built custom lock carriers out of 3 1/2″ O. D. ABS pipe and mounted them on the bottle cage bolts.

This is a great product. The optimal length and weight. Not difficult to carry around.

The chain is quite light and easy to carry with. So far it works perfectly!

I was talked into this lock when I purchased two scooters as being the best heavy duty lock. Why not, when you invest 5k in scooters. Went to Maine this weekend and used the Mastiff lock to secure 2 bicycles around the tree outside while sleeping overnight in hotel.

Came out next day to leave hotel to head home and the lock malfunctioned. The key kept spinning. With no tools and a Sunday, I waited 4 hours for help from a maintenance worker. He was able to find the weak spot and cut this thing off with hacksaw in 3 mins.

The bolt that slides into the lock was easily cut after he destroyed the plastic housing. Called customer service and Nick Cruz said sent pictures. I did, then he asked for some number on the lock which I could not find….

told him that and never responded again. Bad experience and customer service. Look at something else.

Great little lock, just what I needed! It feels very sturdy so I’m not concerned about locking my pushbike up for a little while. Many of the heavier chain locks are too long for my needs but this one’s an ideal length to attach my frame to whichever anchor point I’m using.

I use a second (thick) cable lock to connect my basket to my wheels for a little added protection but I’d probably be fine with just this one if I didn’t have a basket! (I got mine on sale too which was a big bonus, but I’d be happy to pay full price).

This bike lock is one I’d trust to protect my bike in the most crime-ridden parts of my town–for at least a few minutes, anyway. In normal places, where bike thefts do occur even though you feel safe walking around, this lock will defeat virtually all thieves.

Be sure to run the chain through your rear wheel* and the around the seat tube if your bike has one and then chain it to an immovable and cut-proof object. A lot of professional thieves use electric cut-off saws and if they can easily defeat a cable lock or a U-lock, they can certainly cut through a metal sign post if your bike is worth having.

*Unfortunately there isn’t enough chain length to go through the front wheel also, so you will have to take it off (if it has a quick-release skewer) and put it along side the rear wheel where you can run the chain through both your rear and front wheel and around the frame member (seat tube, or.

). This chain is heavy and bulky. There’s no getting around it. You have to be prepared to compromise the increased security with the fact you will be carrying around a heavy chain while your riding.

If you’re used to flying up hills on your lightweight road bike, those days will be over. You’ll still be able to climb hills, but you’ll do so like you suddenly aged 10 years. I am stillgiving it 5 stars, despite its weight and bulk.

If the Mastiff chain lock was lighter and still as effective, it would have to be made out of unobtainium and therefore cost more than your whole bike–even if you have a bike with a frame made out of unobtainium.

I got it on discount, good price for what I got. Please consider that 1 m is quite short and you need to park very close to a pole.

Quality is great, you can feel it is a strong lock and I love the protection around the chain. It’s a bit heavy and the lock only locks with the key inside (not as piratical). The lock is a bit too thick and I cannot use it in some places and its harder to wrap around the bike.

I was looking for a bike chain for my new BMW F650GS twin for when I am on extended overnight road trips out of town. Normally the bike is kept in my garage in safe suburb. One of biggest concerns with choosing a bike chain was weight and bulk.

Revzilla customer service explained the pros/cons of link size, manufacturing process, and the innovate noose design thta cuts the lenght of the chain link by almost half. So, I decided to go with Abus Granit Victory X-Plus 68 Chain Lock.

To me 12mm link thickeness seems plenty. I am not expert on how someone would cut through a link this size. But, my understanding is between the ABUS hardend steel and square link design, you would need a lot of strenght with bolt cutters to try to cut through the link.

The bonus of the Abus Granit Victory X-Plus 68 Chain Lock is that you get a nice heavy duty disk lock which you can use with the ABUS Granit Vicotry chain or by itself. A good value. The 68 disk chain lock goes for $100 by itself.

Same with the Granite chain by itself. I can see how the round disk lock design would make it hard to keep still for cutting. The cover on the chain link is very nice. Not something cheap. Since, I have not had a chance to use the chain in the elements, I gave it a 4 out of 5.

The ABUS products cost a little bit more that other comprable chains. But, not being an expert I did not want to take any chance with steel quaility of welded joints.

The quality and heft of the steel gives me reassurance that it will do the job. It is possible to lock the chain to itself by putting the disc lock through two links, even though it is not possible to put the end of the chain through another link.

I would not bring this with me on a ride unless I had hard panniers and left my bike at the same place frequently, e. g. outside an office building. I’ve attached mine to an anchor lock. I’ve given 5 stars but it hasn’t withstood a test against a thief so this review is provisional.

Chunky heavy product that I use in the garage but too heavy to cart round to lock the bike up!! But I do use the padlock as a disk lock so makes it even better blue. Substantial product that protects the bike and reduces my insurance when they found out I had bought one.

Very chunky chain. Should take a thief a while to grind through it. If I was buying another one, I would buy a longer one. Any other prospective buyer should also consider: Will it fit through my ground anchor? Will it slide easily through my wheel spokes? Do I have a suitably secure padlock to use with it?.

I purchased the long length chain for use with my motorbike. Ideal size to go through rear wheel and over seat. Chain looks and feels heavyweight and good quality, with a sleeve over to protect paint / bodywork.

Only criticism of the sleeve is the velcro tab at each end to keep it in place doesnt really do the job – keeps undoing, but no big deal as it’s not going to go anywhere. The chunky small D lock won’t allow much space for any prising tools with the chain locked through.

Comes with plenty (5) of quality lock keys – the main one with a built in light – great for the dark nights / mornings now. The lock opens and closes easily. It is not spring loaded, so you need to positively lock the bar back on again, but cannot remove your key without doing so in any case.

Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is I dont know if it will withstand an attack. Hope not to be tested either, but would highly recommend, and good value too. A small keeper bag would be a nice addition to the kit.

Nice heavy chain and thick cover. The locking mechanism is also nice and solid. With the security comes some weight and bulk. Probably best carried in a bag or pack. I like that the key doesn’t come out when the chain is unlocked preventing any mishaps.
