Got this for a residential customer who wanted to see the ocean from his home chimney. He is approx. 1500 feet to the beach. Clear picture all the way. Can see the detail on cars, people, and activity about another 1/2 to 3/4 mile beyond shoreline.

Additionally, watching the shipping lanes approx 10 to 12 miles out able to make out separate cargo containers and ship antenna. Great optics, easy PTZ operation, and choice of options for resolutions.

The camera is very powerful, but we have to return because it is not suitable for my ceiling. I think it’s more better for a big parking lot.

This system is complete without the internet connection, downloading any apps, having to sign up for service, or setting up a password account. It’s exactly what’s good for security. I keep my system plugged into a computer type battery backup unit so it won’t lose its settings due to a power outage.

The SD card storage is ideal but I wish the file format was mp4, wmn, or flv instead of asg. The cameras have spider web problems which triggers alerts and records these false alarms. Apparently this is an electronics problem and has gone away after some use in both cameras.

The false alarms from wind blown plant leaves or moving shadows is a major problem; however the system still functions. The “sleep mode” is wonderful and detects and shows video of deliveries etc. The two way communication is also a wonderful feature.

I have several of these systems and should buy another for spare. So far I have not had a problem with pairing the cameras. If one of my cameras is unplugged the system reports that it is “out of range.

” The owners manual is 70 typed pages. It’s entertaining to read, however, the system is so easy to use the owner could probably set up and use the system without an owner’s manual. Using the system is intuitive and the learning curve is fast.

Becausethe SD storage chip is so easy to corrupt, it is advisable to turn off the control unit before inserting or removing the chip; however do not unplug the power cord as this will lose your settings.

It is imperative to set the correct time and date asap. I like the screen size and video quality, however if large size and high video quality are desired there are probably other systems for that purpose.

The video is clear. The distance to one cam is about 70 feet, with obstacles, the other twenty and reception is 3-4 bars. The lack of instructions with the cam is off-putting however I was able to go the site and find the manual to download.

(You’ll probably need it. ) The four stars is for a) cheesy controls, and b) lack of manual. Getting to the menu items is not clearly explained (you have to use the left/right, up/down arrows on the round button which is next to the menu button.

The L/R, U/D arrows are extremely finicky and threw me around willy nilly; frustrating. The PRINT on the gray case is so faint it requires the eyes of a night creature or eagle to read (I have very good eyesight.

) Sorry, that is enough to take a star away. I attempted to mount one cam on an overhead rafter. Mistake; I should have figured it out before I put it up, mea culpa. Cam will only hang upside down and hence, upside down picture.

Kind of looking for a little more length on the mounting shaft. Ended up mounting it on a door frame. Last, but not least, major pain in the bazoomba. do NOT use the screws they supply. DO NOT. Cheap, heads stripped out almost immediately.

Just start with a good quality, hardened screw and save yourself the mega hassle of having to unscrew the mount (that wouldn’t hang properly) with a pair of pliers. (Pilot hole was drilled. ) But, it has nice features and a good camera.

As to longevity, only time will tell. Last (Uniden) camera lasted 17 years; I do hope this will be as sturdy.

It’s a great little system for what is designed for. I’ve had several similar systems over the past 15 years, this one definitely has its pluses and simplifies the whole process. This one has no network connectivity to be concerned about and no battery to keep the display powered while moving to a different out let or in a short power outage (a minor bummer).

However, having no battery is also a plus even though you lose some convenience, because I’ve had systems that when that battery goes out on the display the whole system shuts down even if plugged into an outlet.

So then you have to go out on the web to find a replacement battery from other source and they aren’t easy to find. When you need to get the recordings, you pop out the SD card and you’ve got them, no internet connection needed.

So, knowing that the Defender Phoenix system is not battery powered is reassuring since I won’t have to worry about a dead battery killing the whole system down the line. And knowing it is not networked online keeps things very simple.

Also, the VGA resolution is good because it allows you to store alot more recordings in the same space on the disk, even though sometimes I’d like to have 1080p just for kicks. So just be sure to read and confirm this system has what you need, and you’ll be very happy like me! If you want more bells and whistles, then make sure you find one that lists all your wishes before you buy.

Set up was fairly easy it had trouble recognizing the barcode but other than that I just wish the cord was longer the cord is too short I wish it had sound it does not have sound picture quality is awesome no issue with that though sometimes if an animal walks in front of it it’s supposed to give you a notification of an animal it will tell you it’s a car so it doesn’t always give you the correct identification.

people that picks up, fine cars that picks up fine animals it tells you it’s a car. in all no matter major issues. It says it’s supposed to go with Google home mini but when I clicked to view it won’t let you view says it cannot be viewed.

So I unpaired it with my Google home mini. Another thing I noticed you couldn’t pick what items that it will pick up like animals people cars and other motions it will sometimes change that and it will pick all motions even though I don’t want all motions I have a flag and so every time the flag moves I get a a notification so I have to go back in there and check off all motions but it keeps referring back to that that can be annoying for other than that not too bad if you don’t have a lot of money to spend these work well it works off your Wi-Fi but you have to plug it in but like I said it does need to have a bit of a longer cord it’s too short I have to buy two extension cords.

Bought this based on price and reviews. Didn’t realize till now that a majority of the reviews are from people who got a free camera to review. It set up easy for me. It has a decent picture quality but the night vision is not good.

Problem I have with camera is that it is not a security camera, good for monitoring something maybe but not if you want alerts and need a flawless playback. Heres the deal, it will only push an alert every 20 minutes if it picks up motion of 10 seconds.

Ten seconds is a long time. If you have this covering an entrance way or stairs forget it, unless someone dances in front of camera you will never know unless you review the footage. And thats a huge problem too, it only records 1 fps if it does not alert to 10 seconds of motion.

That is useless. You might get a glimpse of whatever you want to check out. Heres an example, I had someone drive a pickup truck right through my cameras view, park, get out and walk to back of house.

I was never sent an alert because it took less then 10 seconds to do that. Now when I reviewed, I saw this but could not get a good playback because it only recorded 1 fps. I could not even get a good clip of that time frame because it was only 1 fps and was like a slow motion view, one second I see a truck drive up, then it skips to a truck parked with open door, then a man walking, then nothing till I see truck moving again, and ten minutes had elapsed on timestamp.

In the 10 or so minutes they were on the property I never received an alert and was unable to get good usable footage of them because of the 1 fps. Now if it alerts to motion it will record at 25 fps but thats only if it alerts.

I have a second one set up in a stairway and it never alerts to anyone walking up or down which is the entrance to the house because it does not take 10 seconds to walk up the stairs. So someone could walk up to the door, do whatever, and I would not know if I did not review the tape.

Who wants to review every day? And what use would it be, it does not record realtime motion unless it notices 10 seconds of motion. I can not recommend these if you want them to protect your property and have a recording that can be useful.

If they changed the alert times etc and record playback then this would be an awesome deal, not only would I recommend but I would buy more. Till then you get less then you pay for because it will not work in most real life situations and you will be disappointed.

I really like this set of cameras. To get all features I pay 20 month for 4 cameras, it gives you intelligent alerts, 7 days of cloud recordings, flashback, video clips and is bank level security. I just have 1 problem and is the reason why I gave it 4 stars, one of my cameras stops recording about 3-4 tines a day and I constantly have to unplug and plug back in.

It’s driving me crazy but, is only 1 camera that’s doing it. Night vision is great, I highly recommend this cameras. You can take pictures or record while live, you can also download videos,pictures or saved them on camera gallery.

The settings and app are very simple but, not bad.

Great camera once you get it paired with your phone using Bluetooth as the instructions are vague. I had to install it with some power cord showing as I didn’t want to drill a nasty hole in the wall.

My camera is at least 100 ft from the router. I think the WIFI 6 helps the reception but only marginally WIFI 7 will be out in a couple of years. The picture and the field of view are decent, the infrared helps at night.

I disabled the smiley face and action lights to be as discreet as possible. The SD card fills up fast so I have to format the card often.

This camera is supposed to connect to both 2. 4 and 5 Ghz, however there is an issue (confirmed by Lorex support) which the camera won’t connect to 5Ghz if you are in Canada, only US. Until they fix it, this is an overpriced camera for it’s technology.

FIY, Support doesn’t have a timeline for a fix.

Recently bought 2 new 4k wifi camera from Lorex. Great Cameras with best resolutions ever. Easy to set up. I plan to replace all my Rings cameras soon.

My original review was posted in the Guard site and not on the Guard Pro. This is for the Pro version security cameras. I have to say I am very impressed with the cameras! Ordered directly from Defender and it arrived within a couple days.

Set up was pretty straight forward and I had them working within minutes over WiFi. Images appear very clear, and the motion capture is better than I expected. Usually you get a few seconds of footage prior to the trigger object coming into view, which is nice.

I am still playing with alerts and sensitivity to get it right for my requirements. It can pick up on the slightest movements. I do like the night light, both for colour night vision as well as lighting up the dark walk way for guests.

Some nice features are the talk-back, remote siren, remote lighting snapshot and record in the app. It is nice that I can do all the programming on the cameras from the app as well. The siren could be a bit louder, but will suffice for my needs.

The Human Detection seems to work well. Solid unit overall and good mounting options. I have only had the cameras up for a short period, but am really happy with the purchase. Also that I am not required to subscribe to any monthly plans is nice too.

Ordered two more since. As for support – I discovered a small glitch with my app installation, that required a re-install which I managed to figure out after I opened a ticket off hours. A support resource contacted me the next morning, so I know that next time when I actually DO need support, they will be responsive.

Love my Guard Pros! I have several Guard Pros and one Guard camera. Having the Guard as well, it was great to be able to compare the two. I absolutely love the human detection, colored night vision and two way audio.

The colored night vision was a game changer, as it allows for a much clearer image of anyone coming near my home at night. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy the motion light, for the colored night vision as it also works as a nice light, when coming home late and forgetting to turn on the porch light.

Overall, I can’t see enough good things about the Guard Pro, the app is user friendly, easy to set up, easy to share with other members of the household. I love the push notifications, as it makes it easy to know when someone is coming to my home, or package has arrived.

Honestly I love the Guard Pro camera so much that I actually ended up buying two more! Internal Tester | Amanda M. | Defender.

I was part of the Beta Trial and am so happy for that opportunity. The camera is far superior to previous Defender products. Similarly, the App is most excellent, especially when compared with Defenders previous App.

Here are a few notes and potential areas for improvement: The App is not compatible with previous Defender cameras. The playback options are most excellent, but the sensitivity controls are a bit faulty sometimes, resulting in false positives.

Specifically, the block out capacity doesn’t quite work fully, resulting in notices from a flying flag, for instance. Finally, the audio quality and picture clarity are outstanding. We’re quite happy with the system, and very much look forward to additional purchase options soon.

We had no issues with Ring, but the Arlo technology is just better as of the writing of this review. The resolution is better (1440p vs 1080p) and the ability to differentiate between a person, animal, vehicle, or other movement is huge.

When I get a notification, that extra tidbit is the first thing I look for, especially at night. If there is a person lurking about, I want to know that immediately. That one feature distinguishes this camera from Ring in my book.

The battery life lasts 4-5 weeks, even with moderate motion triggers. And recharging is very quick. So we just take one down at a time and recharge during times of day when it is more convenient to be without coverage for a short period.

One last note: as with any wireless camera system, good wireless coverage is essential. The further away from a good connection it is, the longer it will take to connect and give you a notification. If there is a situation that needs your immediate attention, seconds count.

If you are putting a camera in an area with lower wifi coverage, I would recommend having a mesh router system or wireless access point nearby to be sure you have sufficient coverage. That is not an issue with Arlo.

That is an issue with all wireless camera systems. The wifi received on this camera system is very good. I have camera on the outside of the opposite end of the house from my router in a single story 2100 sq ft brick home and got a good signal.

I added a mesh router close to the camera to ensure a good signal just to be safe. This camera system is excellent. You will not go wrong with it. I highly recommend it.

I’ll start by saying I got 3 of these and a hub, the version I got had the larger XL extended life batteries in the cams then got the solar panel chargers. This is to help you decide if Arlo’s are for you.

The battery life is nowhere near what they say. Even with the larger batteries it seems about 20 motion events a day will drain it 2-3% each day. That’s only a month without removing and recharging. These smaller battery cams even less before taking down and recharge.

The other 2 cams get about 5 motion detects per day and last more than a month without recharge. Trying to use these to constantly watch video drains them in a few days. I could only get that done on Apple Home app on my Ipad, via the hub which is supposed to help conserve batteries.

You don’t want to get these to try to watch constant video. Also selecting only “people” and “vehicles” in the settings for alerts helps or there are too many alerts and battery drain. The detection alerts are fairly accurate and timely.

Similar to a ring doorbell. The video quality is good also. Also similar to a ring doorbell the first several seconds of motion are cut so you might miss a person walking past it unless they stop. The included cement or stucco wall anchors are [email protected]

Too hard plastic with too small hole and not enough grabbing ribs. You’ll tend to round out the screw head or spin them before getting them to work. If you’re doing that type of mounting buy others before beginning project.

The solar panels work well, I’m getting up to 6% recharge in a day with them so it’s worth having those or usb hardwired option because recharging them isn’t practical unless in an area with very little motion.

To summarize I might skip the hub, and if you get it you might accidently bypass it during installation if you wifi pair to the cams. I don’t know that it does much good. You’ll want to get a solar or hassle with usb wiring option.

Also you’ll need a monthly subscription at $10 or sale or ID. me of $7. 50 a month to get the notifications like the whole reason you bought this.

I’ll start with what I did not like about the Arlo Pro 4: 1. Video resolution. While it was good about capturing vehicles, it was bad for detailed information such as reading license plates or reading information of Company owned vehicles even when set in the HDR mode.

2. Filters would only filter “Saved” videos. Eg. Filter Animals. The camera will still recognize an animal, capture it on video and send a notification to your phone/computer. The videos were just filtered from automatically showing up in your library.

As you can see I did give it a 4 Star rating as it worked pretty much flawlessly for the 3 months we were away from our home. It was good about recognizing people from vehicles from animals. One of the cameras shut down when it lost internet connection but came back up later.

I liked the night time capturing with the infrared mode. The camera will allow you to light up moving item at night so that you can see the subject in color. Personally I didn’t want the subjects to know that they were being watch.

The tracking feature was okay and it was extremely easy to set up from physically mounting it around our home to connecting electronically to our internet. While it didn’t become an issue, had there been a threat to our home we would not have been able to identify a vehicle from any text located on the vehicle and this would have been very upsetting had it happened.

I’ve been using zmodo cameras for many years now. I love these cameras. If you have one go out try another power cord before tossing the camera. Sometimes it’s the cord not the cameras. I called zmodo to purchase new cords, problem solved.

They’re fairly easy to set up. I do admit that sometimes they can be a booger to get set up. When all else fails call them. They can help you link a camera with a few easy steps. I reccomend keeping some extra power cords on hand.

Contrary to some of the other posts, you do not need a subscription. It will always send you notifications when there is movement and you can add an NVR if you want to record without a subscription. Zmodo has excellent quality and a great picture.

If you want a system that works on a local network when your internet is down then this isnt the right kind of system. Instead of leaving a bad review they should have simply read the information before purchasing.

Yes internet is required but it is a simple set up that I completed for all 5 of the cameras I have purchased over the last year with a note 8 and note 9 phone. My 66 year old dad set his up by himself with a s9+.

I just hate when an excellent product gets a bad review because someone was too lazy to read before they bought it and “wanted an apple but bought an orange” and got mad about it. Great product. Highly recommend!.

These cameras constantly drop off the internet connection. Then you have to redo the setup process. About 2 months of having the cameras they all dropped off the internet and only one was able to be reconnected.

Until about a week ago the last one fell off the internet and now can not reconnect. Customer Service is worthless. They just send you links to check internet speed. Absolutely no help. Don’t buy a warranty on them because they won’t replace the camera or refund anything back to you.

The quality of this camera was eye-opening, to say the least. The picture quality (color, with color night vision) will leave you wondering if it is a high-end web camera or a security device. It captures video and snap shots in great, full, HDR color, and is equipped with a spot light as well.

The Arlo 4 allows for voice communication through the camera itself, as well as activation of the built-in security alarm. It also has a wide array of personalization options, including the option of using the camera through a virtual smart hub or by connecting it wirelessly to a base station (which I appreciate, as I have a 2- camera Arlo set-up through a base station and was able to add this to it).

As someone who already owns 2 Arlo wireless cameras, and who has had good experiences with them, there was an established level of quality expected, and I am elated to say the Arlo 4 exceeded that bar in almost every way.

The one thing that I thought would be easier with this device that turned out to be slightly behind my previous Arlo cameras is the synching process & instructions. The only instructions here are a pamphlet saying go to the web site or download the app for instructions, and unless you have used one of these specific type of cameras before, you will likely not be able to assemble the device on your own.

Since this device is app-dependent (or at least net dependent) , you’d want to download the app anyways, but they could at least show you how to install the battery/assemble the device, or how to use the charging cord, in the hard-copy instructions (it’s a cool, modern, magnetized connector that I’ve never seen before).

All that aside, once you download the app, it literally takes you through very simple, easy, concise, and clear instructions to assemble and activate (or sync) the camera. There was a moment during set-up when the device wasn’t recognized by my base station, but the app instructions intuitively pivoted to manual sync instructions, which was quick with the camera’s built-in sync button.

I’ve knocked off a star for not having hard-copy assembly instructions, and for the extra step to sync it with my previous base station, but this camera is extremely high quality, has an undeniably strong set of features, and is easy to set up (in spite of my preference for hard-copy instructions).

I’d definitely recommend this to anyone in the market for a wireless security camera, especially since owners of base stations can add one of these to a pre-existing camera set, or upgrade their cameras to these.

Solid product.

I have been using the Arlo system for several years to monitor the activity around my home. I have two base stations and at least 8 cameras including two Pro 3’s, the previous model of the 4. The Pro 4 includes the camera, a proprietary magnetic charging cable, magnetic mount, and battery.

Unfortunately, no power adapter, and the charging cable is still USB-A, which if companies are going to stop including power adapters in boxes, they at least need to provide USB-C cables, not something that is going to be obsolete in a few years.

I typically keep my cameras wall or solar powered anyway, even though the battery lasts a long time. It’s just much easier to set and forget, especially for cameras mounted at inconvenient (need a ladder) locations.

Setup as always is super simple with the Arlo app. If this is your first camera, there’s going to be a registration piece and asking you to setup a trial of Arlo Smart subscription. Since I already use all these features and have a paid account it was as simple as scrolling down to the bottom of my list of cameras and selecting to add a new device.

After it’s added, it takes about 5 minutes to update the firmware. New to the Pro 4 is the ability to install it using your home WiFi instead of needing to require an Arlo base unit. This is good and bad.

It’s great if you only need one camera and have excellent WiFi strength and do not require any of the features that you get with a base station, namely local streaming and recording of the original 2K quality image.

If your WiFi is mediocre or you need more than 2 cameras you probably want the base station which is typically found in a package of 2-3 cameras anyway. A base station handles the wireless video from the cameras and can be plugged directly into your router which means your Netflix streams aren’t having to compete for the same wireless bandwidth with your cameras.

The spotlight is the same as the one found on the Pro 3 and really helps to illuminate night time shots. Video shot with the spotlight activated will look more natural rather than the night vision you typically see on surveillance cameras.

For example it’s possible to make out the color of someone’s shirt when the LED spotlight is activated. As mentioned above, there is a subscription which will provide the maximum benefits and experience for the hardware.

With the Arlo Smart plan you’ll get cloud recording with 30 days of video history, and advanced object detection including people and packages. Obviously, the plan is worth it for the cloud recording alone.

I don’t know if the people/package/animal detection works 100% of the time, but it’s pretty good. I really don’t care that the system tries to classify what it is as long as it records activity for any and all motion events.

Another feature the plan comes with is cloud activity zones. This is an absolute must-have if you plan on getting alerts on your phone for the camera. It allows you to set specific areas within the frame of the video that will trigger the recording and alert you.

For example, if you don’t want cars on the street triggering alerts you can exclude them or anything else that generates a lot of motion activity that you don’t care about. This model also features the option record everything continuously to the cloud.

However, there’s a few drawbacks to this approach in that it’s an additional monthly cost on top of the subscription plan, running wire-free on battery is not an option, it’s going to use more of your internet bandwidth, and it does require the base station.

Really only worth it if your plan IS to capture everything happening like on a busy street. For most people, there’s nothing happening in their yard 95% of the time to require this. 4Ghz WiFI Overall, the Arlo Pro 4 is basically a minor improvement of the Pro 3, the biggest feature being the flexibility to use it without spending more money on a base, which is a welcome feature for anyone who only needs a couple of cameras and has good WiFi available.

Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in a hassle-free video security platform and don’t mind the subscriptions aspect.

So far the camera survived the cold winter in Northeast Ohio. Infrared LED in the night offers good enough pictures of monitored area. Daytime images are good. I would like to mentions some problems that I have and hope the makers will take the suggestions to make it better.

1. The antenna location in the back of the camera make the camera hard to aim in some angles. 2. The power cord connection should be switched which make the camera end be male end, so it will be smaller, since most installation will need to drill a hole on the wall.

I have to drill a 1/2 inch hole. 3. The App in iPad will show the earliest events in the past 24 hours first, which most people will like to see what is the newest event first. 4. The brand name Cobra is too visible, which will give it away what kind of monitor system is to the bad guy, and provide them the information of how to defeat the system.

So I blacked it out with permanent marker.

I added this camera to my existing 4 channel Cobra system that came with 2 cameras, after trying out the system for several months. The 3rd camera was so quick and easy to setup, that I plan to purchase a 4th camera to complete the system.

The camera is mounted under the eve of my roof, with power to an outlet in my attic using an extension cord. The IR night vision works better than the night vision on other brands of cameras I own. I have no trouble viewing all three cameras on my iPhone away from home, in addition to viewing on the Cobra receiver display (which is plugged into the same battery backup as my computer).

I also found a way to view the Cobra cameras on a PC using the BlueStacks free program which duplicates the MyCam View App on my iPhone. The Notifications on my phone are usually within a few seconds.

The microphone works great. I hear birds chirping when I turn it on. My biggest complaint so far is camera orientation. It is difficult to position it in some directions due to the WIFI antenna location on the camera.

I found a mag mount antenna with 6 FT cable on Amazon that eliminates that problem. I wish the cameras also came in white to match the white trim on my house. I haven’t had any problems with any of my Cobra cameras.

Overall I think its a good buy.

Im actually impressed its lasted this long so far, about a week! Been looking for a long time at systems on Amazon and the 1 star reviews are scary, plus you had to format and install a special hard drive.

With this cobra system it just uses an old school large SD card 256 GB max. My house is 80’ long end to end and wireless has no issues communicating in it. Cameras are ok, not outstanding. But what do expect for $59 each? This a system you would use to see at a glance what is going on outside.

Then engage one of your better overlap ptz cameras to investigate.

Been using Lorex equipment for quite some time and due to a freak thunderstorm, my current system had a failure in one of the cameras. Please understand that this camera failure was due to the freak nature of a passing intense storm and not the equipment itself.

I received a great offer from Lorex, so I upgraded the cameras and was extremely happy with the outcome! Thank you Lorex.

I like the systems and the coverage. I feel safer with it. Thst being said. It has alot of false triggers. The camera’s tend to attract flying insects which trigger events. They were very helpful on yhe phone figuring out issues.

A better manual might be helpful.

This was on sale, so I decided to add it to our system. I had purchased a six camera system from Costco, the dvr has eight channels. I decided one more camera would be nice to cover pretty much the only gap in coverage.

Installed easily, especially having already installed the first six. Nice addition.

yeah its real funny. you go and make cameras that only work on 2. 4 ghz. when everybody else is using 5ghz. yeah they work. if you are willing to rent a multi channel router thats capable of choosing 2.

4. or buy a new phone that either is 2. 4ghz or one that has the capability to switch from 5ghz to 2. 4 ghz. yet i can go online and buy 5ghz cameras already made that way. all you camera companies are pawning off junk so you can make room for the future.

i just sent back 3 cameras. why. because the [email protected] phone i have is only 5ghz and can’t be switched over to 2. 4. so the end result. unable to connect. sorry sucker you lose!.

All in all, the 8-CHannel HD MPX is a nice setup. Comes with a great selection of cables, the cameras are good, mounts are good. The software for viewing the cameras and recordings works pretty well.

It’s not always the most intuitive, but it’s functional. It would be nice if you could plug in a keyboard instead of just using the mouse, but not a big deal. I’ve had two odd problems with it so far (one might not be their fault): 1.

I plugged the device into a monitor from the HDMI port using an HDMI-DVI adapter. The monitor wouldn’t show anything, and weirder still, the MPX just kept crashing, starting up, crashing, over and over.

The adapter works fine on other devices. No idea what that would mean. 2. The VGA port on the back isn’t mounted well at all. The first time I tried plugging a cable into that port, it just sunk into the case.

It looks like the screws just aren’t connected well and one side isn’t holding it. I was able to loosely connect the cable so all is not lost, but it’s a bad sign for build quality. Fortunately, I haven’t encountered any other such issues.

We don’t have all the cameras setup yet, but it’s a good product overall so far. Once they are all running, I’ll update the review if there’s anything new (good or bad) to share.

I have a set of 8 of these cameras on my house now and I needed a replacement for one I ruined. The cameras have fair to excellent video but they are somewhat inconsistent. I have 4 that are excellent, 3 that are fair and 1 that is poor.

When I replace the system, I will buy auto PTZ cams for better coverage and up close resolution. This was my first try. It’s an IP system and I believe I would prefer IR wireless next time for the ease of installation.

Plus, the auto scan and focus with the zoom allows real looks at license plates and faces. For the price, it’s a good system.

Still working great all these years! No problems other than an occasional birds nest on top of them or they’re used as a perch for a bird. Nice to see wildlife in the yard at night and to keep an eye on everything, and if anythings missing and the camera’s are hidden well enough you catch them, and if they do see the cameras they have to come within its distance to see if the leds are glowing red & working and when they do its too late, they’re busted!.

These cameras would power up but show a scrambled screen! The camera housing was constructed of cheap flimsy plastic. do not waste your time or money by purchasing these cameras. They are of cheap grade and quality.

I would not recommend these cameras to anyone.

I’ve had nothing but problems, since the day I received the first V150 (which tells you I’ve already had more than one). When the first unit was received, I didn’t have time to go through the full setup…so, in the meantime, I installed the mounting bracket where I intended, and attached the camera.

Unfortunately, I ended up having to go out-of-town on business for a few days, and it was during that time that a torrential multi-day storm came crashing down on Northern California. By the time I returned home, and waiting a few additional days for the storm to end, the camera’s housing ended up having water inside it.

Vosker states a IP65 rating, which, as defined, means “partial protection against dust that may harm equipment” (the ‘6’), and “protection against low-pressure jets (6. 3mm) of directed water from any angle (limited ingress permitted with no harmful effects” (the ‘5’).

I will concede that the storm we endured was far greater than what would normally be expected in Northern California…but, at the same time, I wouldn’t have expected water to actually get inside the housing.

Moving onto the second problem, I contacted someone at Vosker, to inquire about what was needing top be done. For the purpose of this review, I am not allowed to go into details…but, I can state that dealing with this situation took far longer than it should have, and more than a couple emails never received replies until I pressed further.

In the end, it took almost a month to receive a replacement unit, which I still haven’t installed…due to the next problem. After another ultra-busy week, I was finally able to get the camera activated, and set up within the app.

Activating the camera was simple enough. However, after getting the camera activated, I started going through the process of changing settings. One particular setting (honestly, I forget which) required the app to be restarted.

However, after shutting down the app (to be certain, I force-closed it before reopening it), and reopening it, I discovered that the app had logged me out, requiring me to log back in. Thankfully, I use a password manager, thus making entering my login info problem-free…except that the app refused to log me back in.

it gave me some error message about having difficulties communicating with the server. With other products, the user would have been informed (at least in-general) what the problem was, be it “login info incorrect”, or “server is down”, or “server is undergoing maintenance”, etc.

the Vosker app, on the other hand, provided NO information, so I had (and still have) no clue as to why I couldn’t log in. if it was a server matter, I would have expected it to be corrected within a few hours, or (at the latest) by the following day.

Here I am, two days later, still having the same problem. As such, the app, and the camera, are COMPLETELY USELESS. FINAL VERDICT: Based on my experiences so far, not only would I HIGHLY recommend avoiding purchasing the Vosker V150, I will go so far as to suggest avoiding ALL Vosker products.

If I could return this, and get my money back, I would. However, since I received the product free, for the purpose of reviewing the product, I am unable to do so. Even worse, I will still have to pay the taxes on a product that is unusable.

Again, AVOID PURCHASING AT ALL COSTS. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

Pros: + Truly wireless mount-it-anywhere security camera solution + Built-in solar panel provides virtually no battery maintenance + Picture resolution is decent, especially when HD photo is requested + Photo capture of people, cars and animals are pretty spot on + Yes, a Web App Login if you want to access photos on PC + Can set a daily on/off schedule (very basic, though) + Customer support is very helpful Cons: – Requires a monthly (or yearly) paid plan, per camera – HD photo allowance based on monthly plan chosen – Cell signal quality may not be strong or existent – Notifications are a bit delayed – Picture color quality reminds me of a vintage Polaroid – No video recordings The Vosker V150 is my first go at a truly wireless surveillance camera solution in that it uses 4G LTE as a means of providing photo notifications.

With the built-in solar panel, it’s truly a set-it-and-forget-it, mount-it-anywhere security camera. Speaking of its camera, this unit is only capable of taking photos and not video. Probably due to the combination of preserving battery life and the amount of data allotted for the monthly service, if I had to guess.

Photo captures are quite surprising and consistently good, with the only exception of the color production that seems to take cues from an old Polaroid picture. To keep this camera operating for its intended purpose, you will require a data plan.

If you forego the data plan, you will be able to use the camera with the included SD card, but you’ll have to remove the SD card to access the photos. There are three data plans to choose from (Elite, Alerted, Basic) and each has their own ## day history (30, 15, 7), ## photos a month (unlimited, 1000, 500) and finally an HD photo allowance (40, 20, 10).

The HD photos are there if you decide you need a higher resolution of an already taken photo. By default, lower resolution photos are uploaded to you; if you do need the higher rez photo, you make a request via the app/webapp to retrieve the HD photo.

I think this in turn will ping the V150 to upload the higher resolution photo that is already stored in the SD card, and finally make its way to you. It’s all about the data plan and what kind of agreement Vosker has with its 4G LTE provider (I think AT&T based on my conversation with Vosker CS) and what costs are being passed on to you.

If this is advertised as a feature, I am not a fan of it at all. Finally, it’s all about use-case scenarios (job sites, remote areas, very large property lot, etc). This camera has the unique ability to be mounted anywhere as long as there is sunlight and a cell tower nearby.

The app shows 4 out of 5 bars where I have it mounted, and in some cases 2 out of 5, but it was still able to successfully get my events to me. Battery life is actually very, very good for my particular purpose (no more than 200 events happening in a day, to be honest).

The battery just holds at 100% and hasn’t dipped. I even tried mounting it under a shaded area out of direct sunlight and the camera was still able to keep a full charge, so it really doesn’t take much to get the solar panel going.

For every new V150 you buy, you’re going to need to get another data plan, so these things can add up very quickly up front, as well as long term. Just something to think about if you’re considering standing up an array of these guys.

The V150 comes with a mount, internal battery, SD card, activated SIM card and a USB cable.

Based on your use case this camera can either be great or just average. If you have a small yard or monitoring close to your wifi connection than there are better options out there. Now if you have a lot of land or need to monitor some place where there is no wifi or low wifi connection than this could be what you’re looking for.

I could definitely see how this could benefit property owners trying to monitor areas where their wifi won’t reach. Whether it be a business owner or a land owner wanting to monitor areas far outside their wifi zone this works pretty good since it uses cellular (cellular signal strength can be seen in the app) vs wifi.

I can easily see how a business owner may want to monitor their parking lot or maybe an area prone to vandalism/theft without having to pay a massive expense in paying for lines to be ran. The unit does look and feel like it is a quality product, but time will tell.

The setup is easy, and I personally liked the app. Scheduling could be improved but that’s a small con. Picture quality during the day was very good. I highly recommend charging the unit (takes roughly half a day) before mounting – especially if in a hard to get to area.

It did come with a small microSD card and I recommend getting one with more GB’s since they are so cheap now. Since this is solar powered you’ll want to be cognitive of where you place it. If placed in a shaded area or under leaved branches the battery will run down faster and if placed in a hard to reach area – it’s not going to be fun having to retrieve and recharge regularly.

The app does a great job here of letting you know how much battery life you have remaining. I also don’t recommend putting it in a high traffic area as that seemed to drain the battery much quicker during my testing.

Night pictures were okay based on amount of light in the area. For example pointing at my driveway where I have 2 exterior lights produced a decent night picture. However when I tested it in my back yard with no lighting the pictures were average at best but most cameras struggle with good night pictures with low to no lighting.

Overall I was pleased with the ease of setup, app, and overall quality. Pros: • Easy to setup • App was very user intuitive and had a great number of features compared to other apps • Solar powered so no wired to run – great for areas far from your actual property • Cellular connection (can be a con if there is no cellular service in your area) • Daytime picture quality was good • MicroSD card where you can view pictures without contract Neutral: Subscription to view photos via app – but you are getting cloud service and they do offer different price options based on need.

Cons: • More scheduling options in the app could be beneficial • Picture quality at night in low/no light areas are average and hard to make out sometimes.

I bought this to replace a cheap, 720 TVL one whose night vision had failed after about 3 years. The new one was slightly marked, as described, but otherwise perfect. Easy to fit and the quality is far, far superior to the old one.

I’m considering buying a second one to replace another cheap 720 TVL one just to upgrade it.

Both units that I purchased work well on my CCTV system – a good value upgrade – particularly considering that just one new camera would have cost more than I paid for the two. They do just what they are supposed to do, produce a good, clear picture on the monitor and in the recordings.

Very good value – I am extremely happy with the purchase.

Unfortunately Swann AHD “True Detect” technology appears to be more marketing spin than reality. The combination of motion detection and PIR are claimed to eliminate false alarms. In my installation this is not so.

External cameras constantly record PIR events day and night. On a windy day the result is hundreds of false alarms. The 1080MSB camera does not appear to have PIR sensitivity adjustment. I surmise that “Sensitivity” adjustment, if it works at all, is a DVR function and relates to motion only not PIR.

Likewise, I surmise that area “setting” relates to motion only not PIR. The combination of these functionality deficits means that the Swann system does not (cannot?) perform as claimed. Potential users of systems utilizing this technology are likely, like me, to be disappointed.

I received the unit and upon opening everything was there as advertised. The equipment was very well wrapped and protected for shipping. I had trouble inserting the 128gb SD Micro Card into the unit because I didn’t realize there was a 16gb card already in there (might be something to add to the initial setup instructions?).

A quick call to your support line and a chat with a very helpful and knowledgeable lady soon rectified the problem. Setup was pretty straight forward and I had the camera up and running in no time. My first impression was how great the DAYLIGHT picture quality was!!! It was crystal clear and the motion quality was quite smooth.

The thing I REALLY like though, is the motion alert & playback feature – it allows you to view the motion with ample time before and after the incident. I kept trying out the other features and I was quite impressed.

I waited until night (which happens to be around 5:00 p. m. now) and tried some NIGHT shots. This was VERY DISAPPOINTING !!! The picture quality was terrible. I compared the picture to my Lorex cameras, My IP360 (by JOOAN) and my daughter’s IPCAM.

The Defender Guard had the poorest picture quality of all four cameras!!! If someone broke into the house the footage COULD NOT be used as evidence for anything. The Video on your sight showing the night footage of the racoon is misleading.

There must be an external light shining on the racoon otherwise he would only appear as an unrecognizable ghost shape. I am hesitant to go through the trouble of installing the camera outside if it’s not going to be useable at night! It is great for daytime use but useless for night.

Overall, if the unit had a better nighttime feature along with the 128gb SD card and extended warranty this would be a hard to beat value.

I bought this 2 months ago. Pros: The image quality is not great but not terrible for the price. Initial setup was easy. App works surprisingly well and easy to use. You can set it to record constantly which is handy and can store several days with 128gb cards.

Cons: Motion detection is basically worthless. Turn the sensitivity up too high and every speck of dust or gnat floating around (especially at night with the IR lights on) triggers it to record. Turn it down just a tad and suddenly it picks up nothing unless a Mack truck drives 10 feet in front of it.

People 15-20 ft away won’t trigger it. Also if set to record with motion detection only, it doesn’t start recording until after the motion is detected, so the kids driving by smashing mailboxes out the window of their car will be long gone by the time the motion is detected and the camera actually starts recording.

Most cameras record a loop and just delete if no motion is detected in that loop. Not these ones. Image quality isn’t good enough to read license plates of people who pull in my driveway unless they park directly in front of the camera about 10ft away, and only during the day.

Last straw for me was when I went to switch routers. When trying to reconnect them to the new router, one of the cameras absolutely refused to connect. I tried at least 7 times. Followed all the directions (which are minimal), reset it, nothing.

Confirmed with my phone it had no problem connecting to the 2. 4ghz channel (which this camera requires) and camera was only about 20′ from the router in the house, signal strength was not an issue. The only way to “connect” to the cameras to setup the wifi is by having your phone play a sound through the camera app that the camera picks up and decodes somehow.

The only diagnostics this camera has is a blinking red and green light. Very poor interface for setting up the camera. My phone (like most smart devices) should be able to connect directly to the camera via wifi to set it up.

This just relies on hearing an audible sound coming from your phone. This is a laughable design for something in 2021 (now 2022).

Great camera, I already have 2 like cameras and they have been great in securing my property. Easy setup, I have 2 of these cameras wired with ethernet cord and one wireless. Just follow instructions available to install for wireless.

My wired setup was the following, connected the ethernet cable to camera and router and powered up the camera and then started my mobile app and selectred add camera to app and the app found the new camera and I could the camera view.

I powered off camera and then ran the ethernet cord and power cable to location I needed camera installed outside and plugged power and ethernet cable to a outlet and router inside my home which ever method you prefer, through window or any opening coming into house and seal afterward and ready to go.

Secured all cables and along with the external weather connector included for ethernet cable and the install was completed. Great product have used 2 other cameas for 3 years. I did install larger Sd card 128 gig to two of the cameras where possbly more activity.
