20 Best Seat Cushion For Kayak (2023 Updated)

My kayaking trips are rarely less than 10 hours, but after the 2nd or 3rd hour my tailbone begins to hurt and will stay sore for days. And then I bought the Skwoosh Paddling Cushion and it has changed everything.

I was skeptical because it was thinner than I thought it would be, but I recently kayaked for three days in a row, 10 hours each day and my tailbone not once hurt. It technically has a front and back but can comfortably be used either way.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who experiences discomfort during kayaking or canoeing trips.

Really disappointed. The cushion is not squishy or supportive at all. Might as well sit on a wooden cutting board. Used when kayaking and could barely tell it was there. Made no difference. Needs to be thicker.

Would not recommend.

My butt has never been so thankful. Wonderful product; great quality; anti slip underside and handy tether loop so I don’t have to attach sticky hook and loop to my boat. Can’t fault it really. Ass-tounding product.

This is well made light gel pad/cushion for kayaking. I suffer from a spinal disease and after an hour of paddling got excruciating pain in my buttocks and hip. Since using this gel cushion on my sea kayak seat I can paddle for 3 hours and more with no pain.

I am amazed the difference it makes. I can highly recommend this Sqwoosh cushion for anyone who gets any discomfort in their buttocks and/or hips from kayaking. I see no reason why you couldn’t use this on any seat or chair.

It also folds making packing gear and storing easy. When researching this product I couldn’t find anything that looked as well made or reasonably priced. Buy one.

I find if I kayak with this cushion, it reduces soreness to my lower back and sacrum significantly after an hour of kayaking as I start to feel very comfortable without it after an hour. However after three hours, wished that the cushion is more supportive.

To thin, to small for how its advertised. Will be retuning ASAP. Not worth $30 plus dollars. My wife found a seat cushion for a computer chair that was twice the product and half the money. I will pay more attention to the negative reviews in the future.

I thought I’d left feedback on this item, but may have forgotten. I wanted extra padding to go with the factory seat. This fit the bill perfectly since I was able to slide it directly under the factory seat.

Feels like a cushion of air – no lie. Feels great even after 6 straight hours. This is a good deal!.

Quality Kayak Pad with adhesive across entire backside for easy attachment. The adhesive adhered to the Kayak seat completely after installation and a couple hours paddling. Nice looking and well padded for a comfortable ride.

A proven product that sticks to all surfaces. Impossible to paddle without a pad and this one is firm and grippy.

This product is similar to a Yak Gear set I bought about a year ago. At this time, this seat is about half the cost of the Yak Gear seat. I have noticed the padding is not quite a think, but looks adequate.

We have not put any time on it yet, so I can’t speak to the reliability of it.

Excellent seats with very good back support. Fully adjustable on the fly too and the removeable pack is such a plus ! We love the seats…very comfortable and supportive.

These replacement seats are much nicer than my orgional seats. The material is high quality padding and high quality connectors. I think these will last much longer than my origional seats did.

I have owned two of these since 2008 and they are still going strong. I’ve tried Crazy Creek and others, none compare. It has a super thick seat pad and it has a portage lock so you don’t need to remove it when portaging.

For those complaining it doesn’t fit their kayak, it is a CANOE seat! For those complaining it was too wide for their canoe, READ THE DIMENSIONS! For those complaining the synch strap stretches over time, show me a strap that doesn’t, take 15 seconds to re-synch it! Full disclosure, I’ve had to duct tape where the material started to wear against the gunwales of the aluminum canoes I use when with my Scout troop but that’s a small price to pay for 13 seasons of comfortable canoeing and I wouldn’t even have that problem if I was a mere bowman.

I bought two of these seat to install in my Ascent 14’ canoe. The seat straps were not quite long enough to encircle the seat so I had to have them lengthened by 6”. (Used 2” wide strapping and had them sown in place by the shoemaker.

) The seats themselves are sturdy and comfortable. I use this canoe for fishing and am often seated for up to 4 hours at a time. They fold down nicely and I used the carrying strap provided to secure them in place while transporting the canoe on my trailer.

The back rest provide good lumbar support and is plenty strong to lean back on. I weigh 180 lbs. My 4 start rating takes into account the fact that i had to modify the seat straps. There is no reason why they couldn’t be manufactured with longer adjustable straps.

I was a lil apprehensive when this seat arrived due to the appearance of no upper back support compared to a stock sit on top kayak seat. After 20 minutes in the water I noticed a huge difference in how I was sitting more elevated instead of dipped down and back in the kayak.

Raising the seat cushion 3 inches makes your center of gravity slightly different and you are in a more lawn chair position. The lack of upper back support is because by design and I never felt the need to lean back or wanted the extra back support from the old seat.

My favorite thing about this seat is of course zero back pain after a decent fishing session and I can now pee sitting down in a can which is priceless to me since I fish urban areas where getting out isn’t the easies thing to do.

Good quality, turned a cheap kayak from Menards, with a terrible seat into something nice. Fished for 4hours yesterday with no problems. I have a bad back, broke it in 2012 and this seat gave me plenty of support.

This is a regular kayak, not a topper. I rigged my kayak up with some deck clips and it worked perfectly on my plastic molded seat, almost like it was made for it. The gel seat pad is nice to, just enough gel to soften the pressure points on the bum.

It was a little pricey, $109 on eBay, I believe in you get what you pay for, so with that in mind, its a great seat. SWOOSH! I will be ordering another for my other cheap kayak.

Having our kayaks for over 15 years I thought it was time to get new ones. After several demos my husband and I just couldn’t find any we liked more than what we had, but we knew our seats were outdated and UNCOMFORTABLE.

We bought these seats and what a difference! Last time we were out my husband commented how comfortable they were and made the trip so much better. I agree! You won’t go wrong with these. Easy to adjust and great cushion!.

Bought two of these for my kids, ages 9 and 11. The consensus was that while the cushions weren’t the most padded ones out there, they thought they were pretty good. I like that they don’t absorb water and get wet and stinky and are easy to clean.

I think they may be a bit overpriced but they’re the best deal I could find for what I wanted. A lot of kayaking supplies are overpriced anyway. They’re pretty light so don’t leave them in your vessel going down the road.

The gripping material on the bottom seemed to keep them in place pretty good which is important.

I was skeptical when I purchased the seat as it was somewhat thin, but I found it worked quite well. I kayaked for a couple hours the other day and didnt have any issues. The seat pretty much stayed in place.

I also liked that it was wider than the last two I bought and tested. This is the best of the three for comfier.

I have not actually put my rear end on this cushion in my kayak yet, but from a test sit in my house I can tell that it is a bit too hard and would benefit from some softer/additional padding. The size is just right and it has the look and feel of a well-made item.

I think it will last for a long time. I will use it, but keep my eye out for a potentially softer version of the same.

We needed sit on top Kayak seats that would give more support for the back and more cushion for the bottom, than the ones that came with our Pelican Kayak. The Apex Sit On Top Seats had good reviews and the photos looked like what we wanted.

The price was right too! The seats arrived quickly, and the design with the straps and buckles, allowed us to simply sit the new seats on top of the old seats, and using the straps to be secure. Our next trip put proved to be much more comfortable.

Definitely will recommend, and remind you not to over think the install.

I bought this seat for longer trips (more than 1 hour) and it has stopped me from suffering from a sore back and backside which ruined longer trips for me. The higher backrest is the real winner providing the even support my back needed up the full length of my back, instead of having the seat back digging in just below my life jacket.

Since I wasn’t wiggling around trying to relieve the stress on my back, and the extra padding on top of the regular seat my backside is pain free too. The seat arrived 3 days early and installing it in my 12′ Old Town Vapor 12S was and snap, literately.

I just removed all the straps (not needed for this kayak) and used the existing holes in the seat back of the original seat to pass the strap ends thru the seat and used 2 6″ bungee cord to secure it.

This way seat folds and original seat adjustment works fine with this seat on top of original seat. It worked so well, I bought a second one and put it in my wife’s sun dolphin 12′ with the same results for her.

No more sore back and was also easy to install using the existing hardware of kayak.

OUr family has had a sit on top kayak we use almost exclusively at the coast of NC, which often has significant surf. We had Harmony seat which had tie on straps that tore off of the seats and after multiple repairs i decided to find new ones.

Based on reviews I chose these Apex seats. We put them to use this past week for the first time. The dual strap connector for the front clips is obviously way better than the old seats. The most peasant surprise is how much more comfortable these seats are.

The back support is superior if you like to sit back and coast or surf a wave. They are just a superb design and have excellent craftsmanship.

I have had /tried many seats for my Dorado kayak , none fitted well or gave a lasting ease to fish for more than three four hours. The Skwoosh is costly but it is very good, flexable ,firm back,comfortable and well made , i removed the front clips for velcro as is my prefferance ( nothing wrong with originals ,I just needed space on pad eyes) The seat pad gives a massive improvement to my fishing comfort , have sat fishing for six hours and when I landed I could still feel my legs ! I would recomend these seats to anyone who has had a numb bum after a few hours afloat.

High quailty seat, low profile so it won’t change my center of gravity. Good back support, lumbar is awesome. Way better than what came with Kayak but also cost as much as the Kayak (I got a steal on my Kayak), but worth the extra money when your in your Kayak all day.

Happy rear storage bag is removable.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion with respect to this product, but in the interest of providing a minority point-of-view, I have to say that I simply don’t get the rave reviews. It’s a well-constructed seat that does seem like it would last.

The idea, too, seems reasonable enough. In practice, however, I simply couldn’t make it work for me, even after doing my best to follow the instructions as well as I could. I just couldn’t find the “sweet spot” (no pun intended) where the amount of air fill provided a sufficient spacing above the floor of the boat while not making it feel like I was about to tip every time I moved.

It’s just not a stable enough platform, from my perspective, for even moderately active paddling or movement. As soon as I lean or shift weight, the air in the pad gets too quickly pushed over to the other side, causing a pretty seriously disconcerting and sudden feeling of tipping.

I started getting somewhat accustomed to it after only about half an hour, but I decided it was something that I didn’t really want to have as a variable to contend with. There are other options available that don’t have this drawback.

And, I have to say, even in the comfort category, I didn’t find the product to be anything extraordinary, to be honest. It’s fine — more comfortable than a standard, thin hard foam pad, for example — but I didn’t think it to be comfortable enough to deserve all the glowing adulation it seems to receive.

This is a great comfortable seat for my kayak. I am older and boneier than I used to be, and therefore need additional padding to sit in a kayak for those long trips that I enjoy. I tried pads and extra inflatables, but this thing really works.

I am much happier now to be able to paddle without the aches and pains that I had to endure. 76 years old and still running against the wind.

Easily the most comfortable seat I’ve ever had. One of my kayaks is notorious for uncomfortable stock seats, so I tore it out a long time ago, and have been sitting on the bottom or on foam or gel seat pads, which are only a little better.

Never could get the right setup. Tried this seat, and it is easily the most comfortable seat in any kayak I’ve ever owned. Makes me absolutely love the boat again, and keeps my better half from screaming every time I take that boat out and complain afterward.

Wish I had found it a lot sooner.

I was hoping to use this seat to replace the original seat in my old Pygmy Queen Charlotte kayak. I spent a long time online searching for the perfect seat, and this one definitely looked like exactly what I had in mind.

Unfortunately, once I got it in hand, it quickly became evident that the mounting points in my boat would not be optimal for achieving the back support that a seat like this should supply. No fault of the seat – it’s obviously very well made of high quality materials, it’s actually even better than I expected – it just did not fit well enough in my boat, the attachment points were in the wrong location.

But to Old Town’s credit, the person I talked too in customer service was super friendly, and processing my return was fast and easy. I’m bummed it didn’t work for me, but it’s a very high quality seat at a very good price.

I got this for my husband who’s seat was in terrible shape. He is pretty picky about comfort and back support in a kayak seat. This seat kept coming up in best back support reviews so I got it for him (i have the same seat, just didn’t realize it).

Once he got it adjusted He really likes it.

This works perfectly with my Hala paddle board. I set it up in the very back for my toddler. It’s stable, adjustable, and we have a great time with it!

I had the feeling that having the kayak seat to use with my GILI might be fun. Ordered it a couple of weeks ago and as I finished the order I got an email saying the order had been received and shipped.

It arrived on my doorstep in less than a week. Having this kayak seat for my GILI has made our lake days even more fun. When it’s windy and the water is choppy I appreciate having the option to sit and paddle.

Took a minute for us to figure out but truly was easy to install — positioning is absolutely perfect! We have only had it attached for a few days(only reason I say “so far”)… LOVE that it adds little to no noticeable weight to carrying it and the fabric, as well as workmanship, is top notch.

I love the sup kayak seat! It’s so easy to add when you need a break, and easy to remove. Takes 2 seconds, and very light but sturdy. I always love standing or lying on my sup, and didn’t think I would use a seat a ton, but I’m so glad I have it! I tried it out for the first time a few days ago and I’m in love! It gives your back a rest and is perfect for those days when you’re tired after a day on the water.

I wanted a cheap digital DSP world radio. After a short research and reading some reviews, I concluded on this one. And I didn’t regret it (in fact, I ended up bying 3 more, for presents). It’s not the best radio and surely has its flaws.

I would like it to have day, date and alarm settings, but at about 15, I really can’t complain. If you need a portable digital world radio with DSP, decent FM reception (and maybe average AM & SW), a loud, bass – enhanced speaker, rechargeable (via microUSB) lithium battery (BL-5C type), microSD card slot, capable of recording and playing mp3 files, you should consider this one.

I have seen it under several brands (Tivdio, Retekess, Audiomax, Kaimeda, Vite, VrRobot) and it’s propably the same radio, just rebranded.

Amazing sound for its size due to the second speaker on the back side. Bass is on another level for this price tag. All buttons have a very solid feeling when you press them, you are sure they will live and respond well for decades.

FM reception is good without any problems, expanding the antenna is not always necessary. Descent battery life, easy to charge with the micro-usb connector. Overall a very clever purchace with a very reasonable price.

This hunting cushion is especially nice because it provides support for those who have back pain, I’ve used this both hunting and during my niece soccer games and have sat for quite a duration both times and have been able to bring it along with me even during hiking or around town if I intend to go on a long walk! It is even compact enough to even fit in my backpack so it’s convenient to bring with me anywhere! As small of a feature as it may seem the carabiner clip is probably my favorite feature mostly because it allows for the seat not to slip around while I sit! The high quality foam inside is incredibly stable Al even after extended use and will bounce back no matter what! There’s a great zipper on the cushion case that allows for the case to be removed for cleaning any time and easily placed back on.

I couldn’t have imagined a better cushion in my life prior to receiving it and absolutely am thrilled to have it! Many cushions I’ve used in the past aren’t comfortable where this one is! And the weatherproof case is such a blessing! Definitely have put it through rugged use a lot since receiving it and can safely say this cushion is worth the buy no question! For hunting the camo is very realistic and the seat itself is really quiet as well even during any shifting of your body that may need to happen while getting ready to shoot.

This is a real asset to ones comfort! Can’t wait to see how long this cushion lasts me with as resilient as it seems to be!.

This cushion is really durable and comfortable, you can tell it’s quality made by just feeling it. The cushion feels like an expensive memory foam, more gel like than just a pillow full of stuffing. I love that it has a carabiner on it so it’s easy to clip onto my stuff, allowing me to be hands free or not taking any room up in my bag.

Also the cover being removable is a huge bonus. Love being able to take it apart for cleaning purposes. Besides for hunting it’s also a great cushion to use while sitting on bleachers watching your kid play sports.

I’m getting older so anything to add a little bit of extra comfort is always a major plus.

I received my cushion about a month ago. I tried out this product and it feels great. I first used the cushion out on the boat which my captain seat needs some TLC. This cushion surprised me how comfortable it was.

It very soft and steady I didn’t feel any discomfort what so ever during our outing on the lake. I will be using this cushion during hunting season when out sitting in my deer stand and lake days. Another thing I like is the look of this cushion.

Camo is one of my favor color it goes with my life style as a country boy. Really great and durable product strongly recommended.
