20 Best Seasonings For Pot Roast (2023 Updated)

McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning is my all time favorite for not only seasoning steaks, but I’ve have used in on chicken, pork even on baked French fries and grilled veggies. I’ve been sold on it since I first tried it.

Today, sodium is a subject of many health studies and we are being told we consume too much sodium which I found to be true when I calculated it out over a period of one week. I was just curious and boy was I surprised.

I was consuming 3 times the recommended levels. Sodium is in almost everything, especially frozen and canned foods. Almost everything processed has high levels of sodium. Well McCormick has done it again.

They have modified Montreal Steak Seasoning with 25% less sodium. A check of the Nutritional Facts shows that the original has 180mg of sodium while this only has 125mg. While not a huge decrease, every little bit helps.

According to the label, this decrease gives you 5% of the DV. The funny thing is it tastes the same to me. I’m not big on salting everything so my palate may be different than yours. However I believe if you try it, you’ll agree.

The great taste is still there. A minor sacrifice for a healthier spice. Way to go McCormick!.

When I received the seasoning mixes, I had just learned that my husband and I have elevated blood pressure and need to reduce our sodium intake. I was bummed about this because all I could think of was the “nasty” salt-free foods my mom used to have to eat when I was younger and I did not want to have to eat like that for the rest of my life! Well, I must say, the first night, I used the Less Sodium Montreal Chicken Seasoning and it was absolutely delicious! I was pleasantly surprised.

The next night, I made tacos using the Less Sodium Taco mix and my family devoured them. My husband, the grill king, used the Black Garlic Parmesan Seasoning Mix to some ground beef and let it set for a couple of hours prior to putting a few burgers on the grill, topped them with the creamy mustard and those were some of the best burgers we’ve had.

These seasoning blends and mustard are definitely not what I feared. I’m glad that I received them to try when I did because the timing and flavors are perfect for my needs. I highly suggest them to anyone, even if you’re not on a reduced sodium diet because these seasonings just taste good.

My family loves a good tender steak occasionally. Attempting to find a marinade that also is healthy wasn’t exactly easy. I try not use a lot of salt, but it seems like there is hidden salt in everything.

I like that it comes in a regular spice bottle, so I can control the amount I use. The convenience of having this spice in my pantry has been wonderful! And it’s so much more economical than purchasing packets.

We are really watching our budget and this just makes so much more sense!! We love the results, enjoying tender steaks that are delicious. I’d definitely recommend this product for everyone. Whether or not you’re looking to cut back on sodium or not.

I love the flavor this spice combination has – it’s lightly to moderate spicy, a little salty, a just ever so slightly sweet and very flavorful. It has orange peel as one of the ingredients too. I do not taste that directly but I’m sure it continues to the overall delicious taste.

This spice blend adds tremendous amount of flavor to my food. I find it most excellent on chicken. It is one of my absolute favorite spices. So if you are not averse to a bit of spiciness, it may be worth your while to try.

perfect blend of garlic and herb. I put this on almost everything i fix. It is a seasoning that I have not found with any other manufacture that taste like this. Works on eggs, potatoes, salad, steak before you grill.

Salmon and then into oven. I can’t think of anything you could not put it on. Works perfect on cottage cheese and take onion, tomato, celery, bell pepper and cut really fine and dump into the cottage cheese and then sprinkle this on.

Makes a garden cottage cheese that even people that don’t like cottage cheese like.

This has become my favorite spice blend. I do use it on chicken, but it’s good on many other things. Making jerky is a snap with it as a spice too. Just buy the thin sliced beef, usually a cheap cut.

Put about a half cup of soy sauce in a seal-able container, add a tablespoon or three of the kick’n chick’n, then shake it up. Add in the beef and let it set overnight. Dehydrate the next day. Yum.

Used for a 2. 3 boneless pork roast. Put a Slow Cooker Cooking bag, not the one with this mix, into the crock pot. Rubbed the packet’s seasonings all over the roast, and then browned it on all sides, including the ends in Light Olive Oil.

Removed from pan onto platter. Put quartered Yukon Gold potatoes and 1” cut carrots and medium-sliced onion into pan that browned the roast. Lightly stirred over heat 1-2 minutes. Added minced garlic clove and cooked 1/2 minute more.

Placed mixed veggies on bottom of slow cooker. Placed browned roast on top. Poured 1 cup chicken broth overall. Cooked Low about 5 hours. Made a slurry with broth from roast and cornstarch. Stirred into pot and left uncovered about 20 minutes to thicken on High setting.

Moist and full of flavor. The aroma filled the kitchen. It takes the guesswork out of adding the right amount of seasonings. A little time to prep at first, but no work after that. Gravy can be doubled.

Great for pork chops too, following bag’s directions.

Where do I start. this smelled bad while cooking and tasted just as bad. I went and bought a small pot roast and the veggies. I was so excited to try this. The meat wasn’t as tender as I expected considering it’s cooked in a bag.

I used one packet of seasoning for 1-1. 5 lbs of ground beef, and added 1/4 tsp of Morton lite salt, 1 medium yellow (chopped) onion, and 1 bell pepper (chopped) to create a tasty and satisfying taco filling.

Love that this is salt free as my husband normally adds his own salt. But the flavor speaks volumes, I cant believe there isn’t more salt, it is down right flavorful. And I grew up not liking meat loaf and here I am making it.

Love me some Mrs. Dash. It makes the meat so much more fun to eat instead of the normal ingredients we grew up with as kids. 2 thumbs up from each of my kids.

I finally was able to have tacos again after giving them up years ago due to my low salt diet. This mix was so easy to make a quick meal after work, and I used the No Salt Taco Bell taco shells also from your website.

My family LOVES roast! I have tried various different seasoning packets and even my own seasonings, but this is by far the best. If I go to the store and they are out of them I can’t even make roast or my family will complain and say it tastes different.

Probably my favorite seasoning for stew so far. Very flavorful, the first stew I didn’t need to add additional seasonings to.

This is in not a fajita seasoning mix. Maybe that is because it is a New York company. Not at all bad tasting, but just not ingredients that I know to be fajita flavoring. I will not buy again and will stick with Ortega brand which is authentic fajita seasoning.

For this to be close to a Genuine WI Jerk Dry seasoning, it needs more Thyme, Onion, Garlic, Oregano and Habanero Pepper in that order. It makes a Fair tasting Chicken seasoning so all won’t be lost in a purchase, although it’s not much difference from this and this Brands “Emeril “type season all.

I would like to find they’d fix this. and allow me a sample packet to examine and get back to them.

I made a huge pot of chili and I wanted the flavor of this coriander to shine through. It made a flavor statement, and made me realize I need to replace my spices more often!

My favorite seasoning for Pot Roast. I mix this with one can of cream of mushroom soup and on packet of brown gravy mix in a blender with one cup of water. Pour right over your roast and vegetables in a crock pot and 5-6 hours later you will have the most delicious dinner with gravy already made.

If gravy needs thickening, remove meat and veggies and add a rue of 3 tbsp melted butter and two tablespoons of flour cooked for a minute or two until smooth and bubbly. Then add to gravy mixtures and use a whisk until it thickens and is smooth.

Turn up heat if necessary.

My wife added a packet of McCormick Slow Cooker Savory Pot Roast seasoning to the pot roast she made yesterday. Big mistake! The tremendous salt content overwhelmed anything else in the packet. We won’t make that mistake again.

This is, far and away, our favorite crock pot packet! It’s so yummy, quick and easy to make a great meal. We usually have our favorite veggies in the house so all you need is the roast. The only downside is that my grocery store doesn’t always have it in stock – I guess other people love it just as much!.

I hate to cook, so this is the perfect kitchen helper for me. Use this mix with chicken, cook on high for 4 hours, and you have an easy meal that tastes great. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice — it’s delicious.

This is the BEST prime rib rub ever and I have tried several. I rub it down with the seasoning 3 days in advance to cooking it and rub it down everyday. So delicious, the outside gets a nice crusty and flavorful taste.

I purchased this rub after listening the Waltons livestream and they kept bragging it up. I thought it cant be that good. ITS GOOD. I do wanna try the Waltons Steak and Roast Rub too but this is gonna be hard to beat.

McCormick Beef Stew mix is what I use when making my homemade vegetable soup that some may call “Hamburger” vegetable soup. I add this seasoning to the base of my recipe, prior to adding any of the vegetables or meat.

You can use as directed the package, if you want. I do sometimes but not when making this soup. Adding 1 or 2 packages to my starter (vegetable) juice and letting that simmer for awhile together, gives me the flavor and texture I desire.

It has just the right ingredients and flavor that I need to make my soup even tastes better. The corn starch helps to thicken the vegetable juices to a great thickness. The added amount of salt, onion, paprika, black pepper and thyme mixed with tomatoes give it the YUMMIEST flavor.

I think the most important part is to make sure your flour and brown your meat and let it simmer for at least 45 minutes. So tender! Then add fresh chopped veggies and simmer for an additional 30 minutes with the meat.

I add a can of tomatoes or corn or green beans the last 10 mins.

My husband has a gluten allergy and we love this product. I have not been able to make stew since the pandemic since I cannot find the GF beef stew anyplace! Please start to make it and ship to stores or at least allow us to buy it on line.

Absolutely delicious! My favorite pizza and pasta spice, ever! Everytime I eat it, I pick up some with my fingertip and eat it straight! Sadly, as usual, Mccormick has seen fit to discontinue another excellent highly rated spice.

This is the cruelest one yet. Truly, I don’t recommend even trying a single blend of theirs. As soon as it sells well and people fall in love with it, they pull it from the shelves. This is amazing to use from meats to fresh vegetables or even cooked. However have been unable to locate this any place local or online. Really hope it’s not being discontinued, as it would be a shame.

We used this on pork butts soon after we received it. Came out beautiful and delicious. This will become our “go to†rub for pork.

I ordered and tried multiple flavors of Excalibur seasonings. This pork rub is very good (grilled pork chops).

We used this for an Herb & Onion Pot Roast only I used chicken, and it came out great! It was surprisingly better than expected considering I don’t like onions at all. It’s good for scrambles, gravy, and mashed potatoes also! I have a friend who’s family loves this one!.

This is a geat all in one. However, I had to use quite a large quantity for one dish. This product would better serve my purposes if sold in a larger quanity. If freshness if the concern then sell it in premeasures packeges.

We purchased a bottle of this product and LOVED it. We put that stuff on everything BUT ribs. It enhanced the flavor of our pellet grill. However, when we ordered more, the second container came and it had a totally different flavor and was terrible.

On principle I refuse to throw out anything, but I made an exception for this stuff, I couldn’t stomach it as it was inedible.

I enjoy the other dry flavorings Cabela’s offers but this one came up a little short. Not a powerful, robust flavor like I was expecting. My biggest complaint is that now the container has been opened for several months, the remaining seasoning is a big, congealed block that will not shake out.

Getting anything out requires a knife to break apart small pieces of the seasoning. The other 2 we have, everyone likes but this one is the exception.
