20 Best Seasoning For Fish Tacos (2023 Updated)

This Taco Seasoning is very mild to the taste buds. I like a little mexican food flavoring to my meats and this meets the bill. Not over powering like some. Also, very happy with the ingredients used.

I have been using this seasoning for a few years now for our tacos, sloppy joes and other Tex-Mex inspired dishes – it has a bit of bite, but is not overpowering. I love the clean, healthy ingredients and it tastes fantastic too! I will continue to order this and highly recommend it to others.

Sorry to say but my son didn’t care for the flavors of this fajita seasoning mix, so I have to go back to McCormicks organic fajita seasoning mix. I purchase 99. 9% of all my seasonings (and I have loads & I cook a lot so I use them) of this Simply Organic.

I found this company many years ago as I was changing my family eatting habits to be mostly organic & I trust them. I have about 20-30 of their different seasonings.

This seasoning (I’m being generous even calling it a seasoning) is bland. If you enjoy flavorless food this product is for you. Get anything else for seasoning tacos. You might be better off not using any seasoning.

All the reviews were great, so I was shocked when this ruined our taco night. It tastes nothing like McCormick or Ortega taco seasoning. It has an odd, salty taste. Save your money.

I typically use McCormicks Taco seasoning, but due to rave reviews here, I purchased the Tones. I’m hit sure what people like. I think it’s very bland and doesn’t have any spice to it. I’ve even increased the amount, thinking maybe I wasn’t using enough.

It’s just very, very bland.

First, I just want to say THANK YOU to mccormick for creating a non-maltodextrin containing seasoning packet for all of us out there who need to eat a very strict gluten free diet! And second, thank you to both mccormick and influenster for allowing me to try a packet for free!! I have 2 children, 6 & 8 years old, who love taco-anydays – and since my diet had become so very restrictive a few years back, I have been mixing my own spices over the years to try and achieve the flavor that I used to get from a quick tear-open packet of taco seasoning to keep up with the tradition of weekly taco night! When you are a working mom, and come home to make dinner at the end of the work day, mixing up your own seasonings is not exactly what you’d like to do – there needed to be a quick option – but for my diet, there was not a solution that worked.

All the other packets that I could find contained maltodextrin, and although highly processed, most of the time enough to remove the wheat from the finished product, was not enough to render it completely gluten free -thus causing major stomach upset and rashes! Finding out that i needed to change my diet due to allergy and sensitivity, was the best thing that could have happened for my family – it makes me more aware of the ingredients in products.

McCormick’s organic taco seasoning has a minimal ingredient listing, as well as utilizes all organic spices, and rice! – so no extra, unnecessary over processing or ingredients. Perfect for my belly & my familys’.

Recently I recieved a packet of this McCormick Organics Taco Seasoning Mix from Influenster to try out for free, in return for my honest review. I have always been a fan of McCormick products/seasonings so I already had high hopes and knew my family and I would like it.

I have uses their regular Taco Seasoning Mix & other seasoning mixes in packets prior, but this was the first time I ever tried anything from organic from them. When I used this product it was very simple to read ingredients, know what the ingredients were & the directions were simple too.

I decided to not make tacos with the seasoning mix but fried chicken wings and using the packet of seasonings as a dry rub. I got the recipe from the McCormick website. Everyone loved the chicken. The seasoning mix made it very flavorful with this little extra kick of spiciness, nothing too spicey or extreme.

I really loved how it had lower sodium and didn’t taste salty at all. That is important to me because my elderly father lives with us and he is on dialysis so we have to always watch what we are giving him and I felt satisfied that this packet of McCormick Organics Taco Seasoning Mix was healthy enough to for him to eat.

I even plan on checking out what other organic seasoning mixes McCormick has to offer the next time I go food shopping.

Mc Cormicks taco seasoning is my go to seasoning for my taco dip. The flavor is fantastic and I get compliments every time i take my dip to a party. I usually find it at target or giant. I love that this seasoning is organic and a healthier version than the original.

As someone who loves food, I was excited to receive free samples to try out. We prepared all three samples on separate nights and enjoyed them as a family. The first sample we tried was the Grill Mates: Garlic, Herb & Wine Marinade mix.

The mix was used on pork, following the instructions on the package. What I found interesting is the fact that we all had a different opinion on the taste of the prepared meal. I, for one, did not even taste the marinade.

My mother liked the taste, while my husband thought it made the pork taste like meatloaf. I’m wondering what made our opinions range so differently. Regardless of the mixed reviews, I’d like to give it another try, perhaps on chicken and marinaded longer.

At this point though, we’ll go for 2. 5/5 stars for the marinade. The McCormick Taco Seasoning Mix is something we’ve actually used multiple times in the past. I had wondered if perhaps the “recipe” had changed since I’d last used it, but it tasted the same to me and the rest of the family.

We all liked it, would use again, and recommend to others. 5/5 stars for this mix. The final sample we tried was French’s Creamy Sweet Applewood Mustard Spread. I’m not a huge fan of mustard and usually use sparingly, but we made turkey subs and added a good amount of the spread.

It is SO good! I’m definitely adding this item to my future shopping list. It made my tastebuds sing. Everyone else in the household agreed. 5/5 stars for this sample and definitely going to recommend to others.

I appreciate that McCormick is offering this 30% Less Sodium Taco Seasoning Mix. It’s down about 60 mg. from the McCormick Original Taco Seasoning Mix. It still offers the same great flavor and convenience, but less sodium is always a plus to help my blood pressure & heart.

Lower sodium in this seasoning packet can pair nicely with lower sodium taco sauce, fat free cheese, etc. , to help make your entire taco experience a bit more healthy. I would purchase these McCormick 30% Less Sodium Taco Seasoning Mixes again as the taste is less salty, the packets are great to keep on hand for taco nights, they store well, they are convenient to use, they are priced reasonably, and they’re from the trusted McCormick brand.

The taco seasoning is sensational. Before trying this one I always assumed all taco seasoning packets were made equal, but I literally had to “eat” those words. This one is above & beyond. It’s more complex (definitely in a good way!) in spices and flavor, but not in an elite foodie way, it’s more of an authentic taste, if that makes sense.

It cooks up really evenly & smooth unlike others that seem difficult to cook down or dissolve, leaving lumps. You’re not limited to tacos when you use this seasoning! I like to mix it into hamburger meat before I make patties for fiesta burgers.

It’s also great used in Mexican beef & cheese dip.

I used the McCormick Street Taco Pork Carnitas Seasoning Mix with one pork tenderloin and a diced onion placed in a vacuum seal bag and cooked it in the Sous Vide for 12 hours at 155 degrees. When finished I pressed it in the bag to break it up which ended up with a pulled pork looking product.

I then spread it on a foil lined half cookie sheet and put it under the broiler high heat for about 10 minutes to brown it. Came out excellent. Will definitely get more of these packets.

I’m in my late 40s and can remember my Mom trusting McCormick products when I was a kid. When they came out with this street line of seasonings I was excited to try them. I actually made a marinade out of this packet by adding EVOO, red wine vinegar, and sugar.

I let the chicken marinate overnight and then threw them in the air fryer. I will definitely try and stock up on this item. Very, very yummy!.

Too spicy! The pork carnitas that I have made, and the ones I have order in numerous restaurants are not spicy. Thought I would skip the step of making my spice blend by using this packet. This mix was red with pepper.

Luckily I tasted it before using. Holy cow, it’s too spicy for us!.

I love that they have a lower sodium option. Use this for Tuesday Taco nights at home. Some taco seasoning packets are a bit too “spicy” for my youngest but this one seems to be perfect. I mix a packet with a ground turkey…such an easy meal.

This makes the best seasonings for our meat for tacos. Ortega is a brand my household loves. We will continue to purchase this brand and when I lived in college I put all of my roommates onto this product, they are now obsessed as well!.

We love the flavor of this Fish Taco mix. We use tilapia and I can cook up an easy and healthy dinner that even the little kids love!

So quick and easy to use. I make my own taco seasoning sometimes but this is just so easy to grab when you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to get out a lot of spices and measure. Use all the time for taco salad.

I’m not one to complain or leave reviews but I want to say this is the most horrible seasoning I have ever used !! I kept tasting something off,almost like soap. I smelled the empty packet and sure enough it was the taco seasoning.

Now I have 3lbs of ground beef that no will eat !!!.

So Good for the price! Goes to show you good things come in small packages! The price is so great too. This is a bit spicy – or at least it is for me since I am not suppose to be eating spicy – but it makes great tacos.

I cook potatoes with the hamburger meat and it gives the tacos a better flavor and texture because of the chopped up potatoes.

Single dad in trouble here! My son is very particular about crunchy tacos, and I best not forget the El Paso taco seasoning mix. I’ve done that and his response was correct. “These tacos are boring.

†Have to agree, and much better with this mix, along with some hot sauce and cheese. One of these packets is 75 cents to a $1. 25. It’s a cinch to use too. All you do is, as the meat is browning being cooked, is to add this on top.

A half cup of water, stor this in to get it in evenly. Voila now the meat has flavor. Your tacos will be saved from mediocrity! Also your kid or kids will be much more happy. You can get this at any grocery store, and it does make quite the difference.

Flavor and color not the same. I used to remark that old El Paso had the same great flavor and never changed. Have been enjoying for 50 years, but will not repurchase now. The seasoning changed and the taco shells burn in an instant in the toaster oven.

First time in my life I didn’t enjoy taco night. My hubby was looking forward to the tacos, he’s going to hate them now. Even if you change back, how would you get the word out to your lost customers? Tastes like salt and red chili powder.

I got both the original and the 25% Low Salt. Both easy to use & taste good; not spicy hot. The low salt one still tasted a bit too salty~guess thought it would be Alot less salty even though 25% less.

The only thing I would recommend is to change the directions: mix the package with warm water in a bowl or glass until it’s dissolved Before add the meat~less chance of getting lumps and less chance of clumps forming on the side or bottom of the frypan.

I would recommend this to others; infact already have to 3 couples!.

These are big boxes and when you shop online Sam’s club requires you to buy 2 boxes! Sometimes too much of something is a bad thing! One of these lasts forever! If you didn’t force people to buy 2 of something online more people would order and you would sell more.

I’m giving this product 5 stars based on its price, which makes it a. phenomenal bargain. In regular grocery stores (Acme, Giant, etc. ) the single packets of seasoning weigh just a bit over an ounce and cost about $1,00 per packet.

This shakeable canister weighs 24 ounces and costs a little over $5. 00 (which, as far as I’m concerned, means one canister is saving us $18. 00). Since our family of five makes a double batch of tacos once a week, this one canister will make 12 taco meals.

— in other words, there’s enough in here for three months’ worth of taco meals. Since I stocked up and bought three canisters, we’re set for nine months. As long as Walmart keeps offering its customers bargains like this there isn’t any reason for them not to surpass Amazon (who, in my opinion, allows vendors on its site who are nothing more than pirates as far as grocery prices are concerned).

I am very surprised by the flavorful taste of the Ortega taco seasoning. I actually think the 24oz bottle is a little milder on the chili powder than what you get in the paper packs. I grew up on the Ortega taco seasoning packs.

And this is the first time I have tried the bigger 24oz container. It’s great in beef, chicken, and pork. I also use it to season my fajita meat and sometimes I add some chipotle chili powder to it to give it a little kick.

The Ortega seasoning is not overly salty, it’s very mild on heat, and gives meats a great taste.

I thought the first time I used this that the ground turkey I cooked had a weird taste so i didn’t think twice that it could be the seasoning until i used it again and it was the same weird taste. I even checked the date on the container to see if it is out of date and no the date is good.

I don’t know about continuing to use it cause i can’t figure out why it taste weird but i did use it last night for tacos only because the 2 packets of another brand taco seasoning i used was not enough for 3lbs of ground turkey but oddly it did not taste weird when i mixed it with the other brand.

I say try at your own risk.

I have been buying this taco seasoning for many years. I have a few picky eaters in my home and I never get complaints when I make tacos with this seasoning. Whenever I have guests over and I serve tacos or nachos I use this on the meat and everyone loves it.

I have used this with beef, chicken, and turkey and it all tastes great with this seasoning on it. I have also used this seasoning in a container of sour cream and it makes a really tasty taco seasoned dip.

I am big fan of Mexican food and Taco Bell coming out with its brands it’s absolutely amazing. I would recommend this product to everyone. If you are running short on time or ideas and looking to make a quick meal, this is a great idea because kids would definitely enjoy and using it on beef or chicken would be a perfect protein intake too.

It might be a bit salty but would recommend to use as per taste. And a perfect idea for taco party begin here.

Nice flavored taco seasoning. A lot easier to just add the packet then deal with all the fuss of individually adding all of the spices. I have used us both in ground beef and chicken came out great made either way.

I would definitely buy this again. It’s good to add to rice with a little salsa and enchilada sauce also on taco night. I usually buy multiple packs and just fill up a shaker would be nice if it was available in a shaker form.

I really enjoyed the flavor not overpowering are salty the packet goes a long way. Very inexpensive and easy to find. It’s very flavorful and easy to use perfect size pack for 2 lbs of ground beef and turkey.

I will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a authentic taco flavor.

This is great. Can be used for a number of items. Great seasoning. Lovely for tacos. Very hard to get hold of in the uk which is such a shame. Wish we could get it easier. 😠the whole brand is hard to get your hands on.

Ahh, the ol’ taco seasoning packet that American dinners have depended on, well I’m not sure but, I’m guessing since the dawn of Tex-Mex. Eating this seasoning sachet takes me back to every other day of my entire existence.

When I am cremated it is likely my ashes could be packaged and sold as taco seasoning.

I was happy to find Lawry’s Taco Seasoning! It was not on the same aisle as the other taco seasoning mixes. I think this is the best mix with the least additional unnecessary ingredients. I used it many years ago and it is still the best.

The regular GV taco seasoning is very good. The mild version tastes nothing like it and has almost a weird Asian flavor and ruined my tacos almost. It was edible but funky tasting.

This nasty thing ruined 1 pound of my perfectly fresh ground beef! When my husband took a first bite of a taco he said: there is something really wrong with it. I took a bite too, it had a strong metallic taste, like a rusty copper.

It was horrible. We tried to identify what caused that. It wasn’t a beef, veggies or taco shell or even stainless steel pan. It was this horrible seasoning mix! I realized that when I put my nose into the empty package.

We had to throw away whole meat and have no dinner that night.

We followed the directions, exactly and we loved it. We used tilapia as the fish as it is very mild and allowed the flavor of the seasoning to surface. While it says sriracha, we prefer things spicy and will add a little extra sriracha in the future.

There is a lime flavor in the seasoning the recommendations called for zest of one lime. We didn’t have one on hand, and it was fine. Recipe was corn based and required that fish be soaked in milk first.

Enough seasoning per pack for 12 stuffable tacos.

What a terrific seasoning. Instead of adding spice directly to fish, I added spice to panko crumbs, then lightly breaded the fish. Amazing! I would definitely buy Honey Sriracha Lime Fish Tacos mix again.

I use talipia and my husband and I love the unique flavors of the lime with a drizzle of honey. We like spicy food, so we find this quite mild. I usually punch it up with some chopped jalapeño in our slaw–make it extra colorful with some finely sliced dino kale.

Buying multiple before it goes away again!.
