20 Best Sealer For Diamond Painting (2023 Updated)

I love this stuff. Easy to apply. Quality spray head results in a even finish. Easy to sand in preparation for the top coat. I apply the sealer as soon as I can on the pieces I’m working on to seal the wood to keep it from oxidizing so that the wood keeps its bright, natural color.

It also acts to keep dirt and oils from my hands from penetrating into the surface of the wood which can make the wood look dirty and dull after final finishing. But I don’t sand it until I am ready for the final finishing.

If I sand through it somewhere along the way before I’m ready for final finishing, no problem; I just spray on a little more in those areas. When final finish time comes, that’s when I lightly sand the sealed surfaces in preparation for the top coat.

Don’t apply to areas to which you intend to apply glue because the sealed wood won’t absorb glue. Mask off any areas you intend to glue before applying the sealer. In the past, I used spray shellac first to seal the wood to preserve color and keep it clean.

It works too, but it’s much harder to sand than the Deft sealer. After buying this on ebay I found it locally for half the price so look around. But if you can’t find it locally, buy it any way you have to.

It’s worth it.

The Deft sanding sealer is advertised as six cans for $23. 55, a good price. I ordered the sanding sealer but was only delivered one can of sanding sealer. This definitely made this a bad deal. The order was processed and delivered by a third party, and Walmart.

com is attempting to assist with the fulfillment of my order. I would normally think this was an honest mistake, but I also ordered six cans of lacquer from another third party via Walmart. com, and again was on blu shipped one can.

Very easy to use. The adjustable nozzle worked great. Best can of spray Ive ever used.

While putting together a special gift for my great granddaughters 13th birthday, I realized that the final product would be far superior with a coat of Kilz. You see, nothing is to good for any of my kids.

When the project was complete, the difference the Kilz made was like night & day. I was really glad I elected to take that all important extra step. Her birthday is in a couple of weeks, but I’m sure she will be thrilled.

I received the dreaded text with sample pictures. Oak cabinets that I had flipped to white a couple of months earlier had stains bleeding through, my heart sank. I was greatly concerned that whatever I touched them up with would show up maybe worst than the stains themselves, but I had to try.

I grab a fresh can of Kilz Original Interior Primer, covered the counters, taped up the cabinet hardware and carefully sprayed the Kilz over all the bleed through areas. I was amazed! Not only did the Kilz dry very quickly, it looked so good I was tempted to not even top coat it with the finish paint concerned that maybe the Kilz would flash through the finish coat.

I did top coat it, and the Kilz did not flash through it. What a great product, and what a great cabinet save!.

I tried JetSeal and regret it! While it did apply easily and looked great, the first time it rained (which contained red dust) I had terrible water spots that will not come off the paint, windshield or windows.

The beading stopped in less than 3 months. I have washed several times with Chemical Guys Honeydew soap they claim has “Powerful hyper surfactants cut through dirt and grime, lift them from sensitive automotive paintwork with billions of scrubbing bubbles, then safely lubricate and guide them off the paint for a scratch-free wash” and ” rinse clean with no residue and even contains water softeners that help reduce hard water spots” but no luck for me.

Now I must clay bar my first brand new car ever that is only 6 months old. In my opinion their claim that “A coat of JetSeal helps repel pollution and contamination, enhance a brilliant shine, and preserve a smooth finish for up to one-year” is completely false.

JetSeal appears to have softened the paint and allowed contaminants to be embedded in it. This product is clearly no good for automobiles let alone the aerospace industry for which Chemical Guys claims they developed it for.

I am now leary of Chemical Guys and the hype.

Best product I’ve seen for a vehicle in a long time. Chemical brothers have outdone themselves with this product. Easily applied, easily buffed in, shows a beautiful finish, removes minor scratches, makes dark paint vehicles look like new again.

I’ve had this product on my truck for two weeks now, driven from Alberta to Ontario and it looks like I applied it yesterday. I would recommend this product to anyone who has a love for their vehicles look and protection.

I’ve used numerous different products and nothing compares in my opinion. Try it out on your vehicle and become a believer. A little on the pricey side, but worth every penny. In honesty if it was cheaper we would only see beautiful vehicles driving around.

This worked great for larger project areas. I wanted it to re-adhere a corner I accidentally pulled up of the marked material. It stuck the material back to the board very well. It’s easy to use and squirts out slowly.

I got this to fix the adhesive on my diamond painting and it worked great! Now I have it for any time I need to make parts sticky again. I even got some on the tops of some of the diamonds around the area and it didn’t affect their shine at all.

Great for adding more drills to my diamond paintings!! You have to wait a bit for the stuff to get sticky and then it works perfectly

I’ve used this on several engine pieces and rims with great success, still super glossy and crystal clear. Gasoline and brake cleaner spray will dull and maybe discolor , but as long as you lay down rags before cracking open fuel lines its great, just don’t leave a gas soaked rag in contact too long.

I love this stuff. Easy to apply. A small foam roller works even better than the brush I was using. Use a minimum of 2 coats to evenly coat. Works on everything. No longer have to polish and wax my aluminum under hood pieces.

TIP: Drill a hole in the can near or in the top instead of trying to remove the lid. Seal it after use. The lid is already glued to the can because the product dries super strong due to the air in the can from the factory.

Just received my PS-270 and am very impressed by the build quality. I’m new to airbrushing but can tell that this airbrush was built to last. It has a heft to it that the Chinese knock-offs can’t even come close to.

Haven’t used it yet, but ran some distilled water through it immediately to test the atomization and control. Perfect. I look forward to years of service from my PS-270. Thanks to Spray Gunner for a painless and quick purchasing experience.

my suggestion would be to KBS to stop putting a cheap low quality spray tip on the gloss cans, its garbage, it spews globs of clear that turn white with the most inconsistent spray pattern, i turned right around grabbed a spray tip from a satin can.

guess what, shoots fine. i have been using kbs in a quart cans forever; shooting from spot gun, no problems. Shot aerosol satin, no problems. So, a logical conclusion would be that the aersol gloss works just as well.

wrong!. the gloss aerosol tip is trash. just highly disappointed; i use these products in a pro capacity building sports cars, motors, and wheel refinishing; and i am a pro trigger man. no humidity, 85 degree base temperature.

was debating on getting into high temp ceramic series, but now i’m completely on the fence since an improper spray tip selection on a product is such a rookie mistake. probabvly taking my business somewhere else, just ruined two wheels that i now have to refinish, thanks kbs.

I have severe fragrance/perfume allergies. It is impossible to remove the recently popular long-lasting, oil-based fragrances from unsealed wood, such as shelving and furniture, and almost impossible to remove them from painted walls/wood, no matter how many times you use the standard “scrub with vinegar and baking soda”, or scrub with strong degreaser, or any other standard remediation technique.

A box of strongly scented dryer sheets sitting on a storage closet shelf for a few days renders that closet permanently unusable for anyone with scent allergies. Essential oils (the worst stuff for anyone with fragrance allergies) or air fresheners like Febreeze or Airwick used inside a home will soak into the paint on the walls, and render the entire house or apartment uninhabitable.

This Zinsser BIN shellac, however, actually DOES SEAL IN ODOURS, as advertised, unlike other paints and shellacs I’ve tried. It is particularly great for unfinished wood, which can’t be cleaned with TSP.

(Note that TSP at higher concentrations and with a LOT of scrubbing can sometimes get those smelly polyaromatic hydrocarbons that are emitted by air fresheners and essential oil diffusers out of painted walls/wood, but mostly TSP works by literally removing a thin surface layer of contaminated paint.

) If you have allergies to fragrances and have to move into a house or apartment where the previous occupants liked to use GAIN or Febreeze or essential oils, or anything else highly fragranced, Zinsser BIN will save the day.

And judging by the other reviews, it also seals in mold and mildew (after first throughly cleaning and drying the area first, of course), so if you have mold or mildew allergies, this would be great stuff to use on any walls or wood that gets damp.

This primer is amazing. I use it to prime ripped drywall or dirty spots. It conceals pencil or pen drawings easily and dries really fast. It is shellac based, the same stuff women use for their nails.

It’s tough and dries to something equivalent to a dried super glue crust. Yes, it’s pricey for the amount but the substance is very watery so it lasts quite a bit. Just use it to work on the most problematic areas, this is not your average primer that you apply on everything.

High performance primer that blocks sap streaks and knot bleed through in pine. Its off white colour and runny, alcohol based consistency appears to soak in on first coat. Dries unusually fast and hard like sanding sealer.

Only downside is its strong odour, use only in well ventilated spaces.

I don’t know yet how well this product works. What I do know is the smell of this product will permeate walls and create a very unhealthy situation. I used it in a basement garage with the garage door open and the door the basement closed.

When I finished applying the product I went into the basement and removed my mask. The fumes were overwhelming and when I went upstairs I found the same level of fumes. If you use this product anywhere near the inside of a structure you will need a serious exhaust fan and the ability to totally ventilate the entire structure.

I think I will stick to using a product you brush on.

I was eager to receive this product because I have various areas outside/inside the home I want to seal. I’ve never used a product l like this so I decided to use it as a test. The spray can application at first seemed like a better idea, but after seeing it in action, I was disappointed.

The spray zone was wider than I anticipated which lead to an overspray onto areas I didn’t want covered. The consistency was about what I imagined because it’s basically liquid rubber that ends up a chunky spray that kind of smooths after drying.

The color was exactly as described and the product does seal and prevent water from penetrating after fully drying. I believe it took longer to dry because it’s winter weather right now. I feel applying this product during a better season would have better results overall.

The worst thing about this product is the odor. I read the instructions and paid attention to where I was spraying making sure to have good ventilation, but even though I used it outdoors, I could still smell it coming into the home.

It’s has a very strong odor and doesn’t fade as quick as I would have l liked. It almost reminded me of the smell of gasoline. The clean up was more difficult than I had hoped. I tried scrubbing it off areas of my hands that got covered from scrubbing the areas of the house that the overspray came into contact with.

I had to use a heavy duty hand scrub just to remove to small spots on my hand and still have find something to remove it from the areas of my home I didn’t want sprayed. Overall it’s a good product that does what it is supposed to do, but there are certainly drawbacks and a bit of a learning curve.

Better weather and more personal trial and error could have made this experience excellent.

I have seen this on the market and have wanted to try it since I seen what all projects you can use this spray seal for. I am easily a fan since the first time I used this, which was on my front porch with a small leak I was having near the top of the screen door.

The rubber piece was missing from the screen door which was causing water to flow right through and get the floor all wet below. I took the spray and looked at the instructions which were easy to follow and I sprayed it onto the door surface and the cracked rubber area.

I thought it would be messy to apply, but it is an absolute breeze when it comes to the spraying and application process. It goes on evenly and consistently and covers the area really well with no patchiness which is the best part.

It creates an even tight seal which is great, because now my door is no longer leaking since this has fixed the leaking issue I was having. I also used this around my sheds windows as parts were starting to become dry and break away, and this filled the cracks and sealed up the exposed areas.

This spray works quickly and really provides a great seal, which I have used other brands and have not got the same results. I am a very happy user of this spray and keep it on hand for all projects around the house that need a seal, or holes that need to be filled.

This stuff is waterproof and has held up very well against the rain and the snow and I anticipate it to continue working just as well. I recommend this to anyone who needs a handy spray to help fix every day household issues and more.

I purchased this product due to the positive reviews but I am not happy with it. Basically, I used this to seal my primer but after painting my car the top coat came off on a portion of my paint job after two days of curing.

Utter nonsense and a waste of time. It says you dont need to sand it but you might need to for the paint to stick.

two stars because the first can i bought (years ago) was great! but thank god i read the recent reviews and tested my new can on art i didn’t care about. it came out in a gloppy, art-destroying stream.

i shook for 2 minutes (timed) and got one burst of normal spray before it catastrophically malfunctioned. i cleaned the nozzle by wiping it + holding the can upside down and spraying until nothing came out.

that did not help. if you do buy this, make sure you test it on a large piece / several small pieces so that you’re not fooled by that initial burst. unless you want gobs and splatters of varnish on your work.

I did not have a good experience with it! I used it on a big scratchboard I had been working on for a long time and was very happy with it. The satin varnish ruined it by leaving a big blob in the middle of it.

After trying to fix it with artists steel wool, I had to put more varnish on, and this time it spit up little drops all over my work. I had followed all the instructions to a tee, so I’ll never buy it again!.

I don’t want to suggest that the product isn’t effective for some users. I like the idea of a retouch varnish in theory. Issues for me were two-fold: one, the product didn’t adhere to certain parts of my painting well – that is, some areas looked varnished, some areas wouldn’t take the product and looked dull.

In some areas this varnish beaded up after initially looking covered. I tried to resolve some of this by going back in with a fan brush, and/or spraying again. I ended up using a few light coats of Liquin, in small areas to rectify the issue.

Part of the problem, in all fairness, could be due to my technique with this particular painting. I used thin coats of paint. I also had a bit of glazing. I gather a thickly painted area may be served better with this product.

A few days later, I also tried spraying the product in a cup, and brushed it on. This didn’t change the way it reacted to my painting. The second issue was greater for me frankly – I had dozens of small sandy or chunky spots of this product directly on my painting, likely due to its reacting to either dust in the air, or due to simply clumping up naturally before reaching my canvas.

I solved this, laboriously, by putting a little of it on a brush and then pulling them off. Later, when dry, the next day, if I saw a few chunks remaining, I scratched them off with my finger. This left marks on my painting, though I solved that issue by once again using a little on a brush and rubbing them out.

Today, I’m a bit reticent to use this product by way of spraying. Bottom line, if you painted thin, and have smooth, dark areas, use this product with caution. Test it out beforehand, or carefully brush it on instead of spraying.

PS, this review limits me to selecting either “yes” or “no,” which I think is unfair, or unclear. I would recommend this product for the right reasons, or with caution. Thanks.

Love this to seal my decoupage and painted jars. A little goes a really long way and the coverage is excellent. One bottle lasts me such a long time and the consistency stays as when first opened, it doesn’t go thick or lumpy.

I bought this item because I had researched it, and I thought it was the best glue. It’s not. I Was surprised at how watery it is and I wasnt confident that it would be any good. It’s ok, but I’ve bought s different one, so this one was a waste of money.

Listen, y’all products are awesome, esp the caulk. Wonderful seal and only had to do once.

We are installing windows and doors in our house. My husband won’t use anything else .

I’ve been using this product for years. It’s the easiest way to finish wood. I also use it with my decoupage creations. I recently introduced my son to using it on some wood products he had previously used liquid varnish on.

So much easier and quicker.

It was okay and I hope it does the job. I sprayed it on a tray that I had decorated years ago that I used a different spray on that dried to a glossy finish. It has begun to wear off. I thought this was the same thing but its not quite what I had before.

I just hope it does the job. Maybe I should try two coats.

Applies easily. And fries fast. Love the end result. It doesn’t alter the original colour and finish. But makes sure the paintings are well protected. Also if you are a beginner, it’s easy to apply.
