20 Best Scrub For Back Acne (2023 Updated)

I can not praise this product enough. I have struggled with acne and honestly haven’t been able to find a product (other than birth control) that clears up my outbreak effectively until now. I was using this expensive product that gave me some improvement with occasional outbreaks, when I ran out of it, my face took a turn for the worst and literally turned my face into one I didn’t recognize.

I actually started to give up but then someone recommend this product to me after one use I saw making results. AFTER ONE USE!!! I was amazed, truly. I believe I’ve been using this for two weeks now no more acne, I’m not exaggerating.

Of course there are blemishes but as far as actual bumps, there’s nothing although I know it’s a stigma but I can’t atop touching my face, I am in complete awe.

I received a free sample of the Biore Charcoal Acne Scrub Skincare, from PINCHme. I was thrilled to receive this product. I have a teenage daughter that it going through an acne stage. I’ve seen commercials and ads for this skincare, and have been wanting to purchase a ‘Charcoal’ scrub for my daughter.

So receiving this came at the perfect time. I had my daughter use this scrub every night, before she went to sleep. It has little scrubbing beads that really get dirt out of her pores. It has a refreshing smell, and it tingles her skin as it’s working.

After using for just 3 days, I seen a huge difference in her skin. Her acne was going away, and her skin look so much clearer. It really works great to dry the acne up, and hydrate her skin at the same time.

This cleanser really exfoliates skin and remove excess dirt. This product does the job wonderfully. Since my daughter has been using it, no breakouts! Overall, it has definitely improved the appearance and texture of her skin.

I am going to keep this in the bathroom for future acne breakouts!.

Before using this product, I had previously use the pore refining scrub, which for me, worked amazingly, and I highly recommend it. Using it, It didn’t cause me any breakouts, and reduced acne how it was suppose to.

Then, I switched to the Deep Cleansing Scrub. This was a big mistake. After my first day of using the product, I noticed that the consistency of the scrub was a lot thinner than the other, and it had a strange, unpleasant smell to go along with it.

Also, I noticed it seemed to make my face feel hot in temperature. After my first week of using the product daily, I noticed that it seemed that my acne had worsened, and my face was hot to the touch.

I assumed that it was normal, so I continued using the scrub daily. After about 2 weeks of use, my face had a lot more of what I thought was acne, and after doing some research on what was happening I was shocked to realize, no it in fact was not worsened acne, but Hives! My face had broken out in hives, and many of the symptoms I was experiencing where those of hives.

It was itchy, red, and hot to the touch, not to mention very unpleasant! However, my twin brother had much better results, and the product seemed to work for him. I’ve stopped using the product for about week now, and the hives have almost cleared up.

The reason that I rated a 2 star instead of a 1, was because I was satisfied with the results of a previous product from the company, and that it worked well on my brother. Overall, I would most likely not recommend this product to others, and by the off chance that I do, I would warn them to keep and eye on the applied areas, and to stop use immediately if they notice anything strange, or a constant burning sensation after using the product for more than 3 days.

My skincare routine has been a balancing act for years between acne or irritated skin. This and the Burt’s bees acne toner has helped balance my skin quite a bit (late 30’s with cystic hormonal acne).

I am using them regularly. I am able to use mandelic acid 12 % less often and I am using persa-gel 10 % less often as well. I am also taking Dim and evening primrose oil on top of regular women’s daily supplements and it’s all helped me so much.

This wash is also helping my teenage son, who is doing well with this wash and Persia-gel as his daily routine. He’s happy this it’s simple and broke out when we ran out and could only find the Burt’s bees retinol scrub.

It was not as effective for either of us.

I agree with all of the negative reviews of the new formula. The old formula was sooo amazing for my skin and I can’t find anything as good as it. The new formula is thin and sandy, as mentioned by others.

The sandy exfoliation FEELS nice while you’re using it but makes my skin look bad. My skin looked more youthful when I used the old product. The new product also has a blue colored fragrance that is added and separates from the cream.

Every time I open the cap blue dye runs out before the cream. Just bad all around. Not sure why you would change the formula, please go back to the old formula!.

First, I hate all in 1s, I feel like they shouldn’t even be on the market. That’s just me, but I love separate products. If you’re going to be a cleanser, be a cleanser, don’t be a cleanser/body wash/shampoo.

A bit exaggerate, but you get the point. I hate all in one. This scrub was thick, which I liked, but o felt like it didn’t work for me. It was also more creamy for a scrub than I’m used to. I prefer when scrubs have a lighter texture because feel like they are better able to penetrate my skin where my pores are where you are advertised to get into and clean.

If you’re thick, how are you able to do what you were advertised to me to do?I used this scrub until the contents were empty but I didn’t see any changes in my skin. It didn’t break me out, so that’s a plus, but it was just ‘meh’ to me.

This is definitely one you can keep off your list to get if you have acne-prone skin or large pores.

Im adult whose acne has been a problem my whole life until I started using Neutrogena products. Ive tried multiple products but none of them kept my skin without irritation and breakouts. I’ve told so many people about the products I use and their acne disappeared.

I have two tried and true acne products. This being one of them. I am mildly allergic to benzoyl peroxide so I only use salicylic acid products. I have used this for years. I don’t have particularly acne prone skin – I’d estimate the occasional hormonal guy, and a few small pimples a week.

I recently learned you *can* use salicylic acid daily, and have started using this mort often. Ultimately, I try not to exfoliate or overdo it though so my skin can get some natural breaks. Highly recommend.

I try to stay away from any physical exfoliants since my skin has become more sensitive since 2020, but this is the one physical exfoliant I have continued to use. I’ve been using this scrub for years and years and it does amazing at keeping my pores unclogged and blackheads at bay.

Whenever I travel without it, I notice my skin is congested once I come home so I know this is what maintains my skin! It is especially noticeable around my nose/T-zone/forehead areas. I typically use this in the shower as a “deep” cleaner, but it’s really not a harsh scrub at all.

I am always looking for the Leaping Bunny when getting skin care, so I was very pleased to see it with this scrub. I absolutely love this scrub. The texture is perfect, a ton of grit without being abrasive.

It left me feeling clean and exfoliated without feeling dried out. It has a great list of ingredients. And love the cool feeling the peppermint oil provides. It will definitely be a regular purchase for me.

Only need a little bit and it’s a great price. Definitely worth the cost and will last a long time. Highly recommend. I have no negatives.

This is truly one of my all time favorite acne face washes I have ever used! 🙂 I love the natural based ingredients and that it’s super affordable! I started to get really bad acne from wearing masks all day and my whole face would break out in acne.

After, I found this product at my local Walmart I started using this on my face. I love that it’s a scrub and it has sort of a nice minty fresh smell to it but not overpowering. After using this face wash daily, my really bad acne on my face started to disappear.

I noticed my face was also smooth, clear, and brighter in appearance. Sometimes I use this scrub on my chest and back when I have occasional breakouts.

I love this face scrub. I would use it everyday if I could but I have very sensitive skin. This product doesn’t burn my skin or anything like other face scrubs, but depending on how much pressure you apply when scrubbing, for me it will leave my face red for about 10-15 minutes afterwards.

It leaves my face feeling very smooth. As a guy, I was a little hesitant to purchase it because of the apricot scent. But once I recieved the product, the scent wasn’t too strong and once you wash it off, you can no longer smell it.

I use this scrub about 3 times a week. But for times when I break out really bad with acne, I will use it more often and it really does help. I wouldn’t recommend however using it everyday, from my experience, it can irritate my skin and dry it out after repeatedly using it day after day.

But then again the instructions recommend 2 to 3 times a week. It may be tempting to use it everyday and you see your acne be erased away but I wouldn’t recommend. Other than that it is a very good face scrub.

Scrub for me is not a very consumable care product, but if I liked the packaging and the structure came up, I can buy it and the product will last for a long time. The product perfectly removes dead cells, exfoliates and deeply cleanses pores.

After application, I noticed that the blackheads became less noticeable. And the most important thing for me is that the product does not cause irritation, the skin after application becomes smooth and tender like a baby’s.

For people with dry and sensitive skin, it’s really a big challenge to find the right scrub. But St. Ives copes with the task of effectively cleansing the skin, but at the same time without injuring it.

If you really want to have a great skincare routine, I’d pass on this product for sure. Yes, it may temporarily get rid of acne, but it is definitely stripping your moisture barrier while doing it.

If you do use this product, please don’t use it more than like once every 2 weeks. If you want your skin to be worse then before in the long run, get this product. If you want a more scientific answer, walnut shells do NOT break down in water… Meaning they will continue to scratch your skin badly even when you are removing the product.

I just think that it is way to easy to over exfoliate your skin with this product.

I feel the same as the last reviewer “TC” on 02/02/22. Seemed like great ingredients but, once I used it, I felt how LARGE the grains were. ****This actually CUT MY FACE*** and, no, I wasn’t scrubbing too hard.

No matter how big or small the grains are, I’m aware you have to scrub gently w/anything. I wanted to give it a real shot so the 2nd time I used it I went even more gently, like barely even touching my face, and it cut my face AGAIN.

Obviously I returned this, and I told the Ulta staff about it. I plan on calling Ulta & the brand’s customer service about it too. I really hope they remove this from the market. this should not be sold anywhere!!! I’ve never ever used a scrub that has pieces this large!! It is so dangerous for the skin.

i have really bad acne bc my bodys changing (yk hormones) i found this and it saved my face i no longer have pain full acne. i also use the fade spot treatment also the So Totally Clear pore cleanser i use this as a toner and i love it.

i also use the acne scrub for my face 1-2 times a week and aveeno moisturizer. i also use The Ordinary Niacinamide these products are amazing i love Formula 10. 0. 6 definitely recommend if you have acne.

It’s good. I love that is an actual cleanser as well as a scrub, vs a scrub that doesn’t clean! I find the smell to be insanely strong if I’m using it in the shower(hot water, room is hot), but when I’m at the sink (lukewarm/cool water, 68-70 room temp) I hardly smell it.

I’ve used more than 3 bottles of this body wash. I tried the grapefruit before so I might get some comparisons between the two body washes from Neutrogena. Before I used it, my back is full of acne. It’s not too bad that I need to see a doctor but it did have some acne.

After using this body wash, since it has salicylic acid , I feel my back quite clean and not has rough skin anymore. But, it should be combined with other acne gel or cream to help you get rid of the acne.

I discovered this acne body scrub about two years ago. This is so nice to use after a long day at work and sweating. Even if you don’t have bad acne which I don’t on your body, this is ideal to use after sweating and everything to prevent bacteria from spreading and just to have a clean wash.

I love how it foams up unlike other scrubs that just sit on the skin. You can feel it working once it foams up and you use a back scrubber or something else. I use this for dead skin as I don’t have acne.

My skin turns over every two days. It turns over quite quickly so this is perfect for dead skin all over my body. I don’t just use it on my back. Dead skin is all over your body. I do have eczema and psoriasis and this helps so much.

I try other scrubs and things but I have to go back to this one. There is a wash too but I prefer the scrub version as it’s stronger for me.

I really enjoyed this product. It has some micro beads for exfoliation, but they are not noticeable and it is very gentle. This product exfoliated skin beautifully without causing any redness or irritation.

It leaves face soft, clean and refreshed. It unclogs the pores but if you are expecting results like cleaning strips, you would be disappointed. Basically it clears pores by gentle exfoliation and lifting.

If you have lots of clogged pores or black heads, I would say it is more preventive or maintaining product after you remove it. In terms of acne, it keeps them in control. It keeps acne bumps down with regular usage.

I’ve been in the market for something that would work on my acne that has been in my life for as long as i can remember. By looking at the ratings of skincare at Ulta, I found this. I had my doubts but i got it anyway and started trying it.

in just two days, my acne was reduced. I know that sounds untrue but hear me out. I went to the zoo with my boyfriend and his brothers and he commented on how my skin looked really good. I tried it for another week and my acne had reduced even more to the point where my skin felt smooth and my foundation didn’t look bumpy.

i should state why i gave this four stars instead of five though. first, if not used routinely and consistently (as in you get lazy and skip face cleaning) acne starts coming back pretty quickly. Second, it does dry skin so get a good moisturizer.

This is my favorite budget exfoliator. It is gentle, but effective. This has glycolic acid salicylic acid. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliants that is anti-aging. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant that clears up helps prevent blackheads.

I use this in the shower and leave it on for a few minutes as a scrub + mask. That way I get maximum benefit from the glycolic acid. This is a great scrub for all skin types. For real acne sufferers I would suggest using a mask with benzoyl peroxide.

Physical chemical exfoliants can agravate acne and cause inflammation. If you suffer from acne, then make sure you take a good daily probiotic. Wash your pillow cases often. Focus on products that are anti-inflammatory and have natural antiseptic/anti-bacterial properties.

49 and finally found the one product to clear my acne. Since my mid 20’s I have had an always present 5 to 10 pimples a month. I have tried everything from high end department store brands, visiting a dermatologist and being on prescriptions to drug store brands.

This is the only thing that has kept my skin clear for the last 2 years. When I don’t use for a couple a days I get a pimple. I have fair complexion, combo and sensitive skin. I tend to get stubborn acne that doesn’t like to come to a head.

This stuff is amazing. Don’t stop making it.

I keep this in my shower so I can wash my face during my shower. I like to keep it on a little longer then I would a face wash because it has a nice tingle. It exfoliates, but is not harsh on my face.

It doesn’t dry out my face either. I use it daily and it takes off 99% of my make up. I use a toner as well and there is sometimes a little make up still on my face, but it could be because I missed a spot, and not the product.

I saw this in an article about the top 50 products to buy on Amazon for under $10. It was a great deal and I have not been disappointed. Recommend.

I was really impressed with how QUICKLY this worked to clear the acne on my chest! Although I shouldn’t be too shocked since I love Pacifica products! After only 2 or 3 uses, my chest was basically clear! And now I use it every other shower or so and I’ve stayed clear, all I’m left with is some scarring and dark spots.

But no more painful, deep bumps! I love the packaging, it looks so cute in my shower! The lid seals tight so no water gets in, something I was concerned about with a leaky shower head and I keep it on a shelf right below.

The scent is nice and fresh, I don’t find it too overpowering. The texture of the scrub is so fine and gel-like so it’s not irritating and I have pretty sensitive skin that’s prone to dryness. I would highly recommend this to anyone struggling with body acne.

I cant say how well this works long term yet, but it’s honestly helping after the first use! I’ve been in the middle of the worst, painful cystic acne outbreak on my shoulders that I’ve ever had. Even swimming in chlorine multiple times in a week didn’t touch it.

I used this once this morning and it’s already drying out. I do feel like the packaging is cute but with this thin of a scrub would be better in a tube. I feel like it would be difficult to not water it down if you have a smaller shower.

Cant wait to see if it helps more long term!.

To be a dollar product I was very pleased with its performance!! I have adult acne😩 and when I don’t drink water it really gets out of hand!! I was out of face cleanser and saw it at the Dollar Tree and was like it’s just a dollar if it doesn’t help.

I went to the Dollar Tree to see if they have new hair products, and tools. In the meanwhile, I had ran across this. Because I deal with adult acne, I decided to pick it up just to see if it would work.

Turns out. it does work! I’m just as surprised as you are that this one dollar acne product really works. I picked this particular one randomly, because they had several to choose from. Now when I grabbed this one.

I clearly didn’t know anything about the skin treatment products that the Dollar Tree sells. But since then, I have noticed that the Dollar Tree now offers a variety of skin care products. It’s unbelievable what you can get at such a great value.

I have decided to try a blackhead drugstore product because my face has been clogged. I have purchase this with my own funds. The scent is nice, fresh on the skin but not something I say is super effective.

It cleans only top layer of the skin removing blackheads that are coming off the skin. It doesn’t go deeper like the apricot one (although that breaks me out). It’s nice to use 2-3 times a week. Not using it every single day.

It’s okay but not the best out there. Also, if your oily skin… this will definitely make you very oily.

Skin type: dry sensitive skin Thoughts: I actually have mixed reviews on this product because I mainly got it since my friend uses this and has super clear skin. But I know that the skincare enthusiasts don’t really recommend this brand because it can be too harsh on the skin.

It is pretty grainy on the skin, so you would definitely feel it physically exfoliating your face or body. I’m not sure if I’ve used it long enough to see any benefits, but since this does have salycilic acid, it did make me break out.

The purging of my skin lasted like 2 weeks before I decided to stop using the product. I am not acne prone but I got a fair amount of small pimples on my forehead, chin, and cheeks. And it didn’t seem like it would go down anytime soon.

So that kinds of freaked me out since I usually have very little pimples, if any at all. Price: $10, pretty inexpensive and the tube will last for a while. I’m not sure if this is good for me. Or maybe I quit using it too fast and needed to use it longer than when I did use it to actually see benefits.

I’ve gone back for this several times now and absolutely love what it does for my skin! I’ve always had big pores (especially on my nose!!), and although I’ve tried bior strips, charcoal masks and the likes, nothing has done the job like this scrub.

It really helps to bring dirt and oil to the surface of your skin and over time helps to reduce the size of your pores. It’s a bit drying, which makes sense for what it does, so be sure to use a toner and moisturizer after use.

I have been using St. Ives Apricot Scrub since I was a teen. As soon as I was earning my own money from working I have been buying this. The great part about it is you can find it in any drug store or supermarket and it is really affordable yet gives you the same results as the expensive facial scrubs.

What I also love about it is the consistency is thick and you can really feel the exfoliant on your hands before applying the scrub to your face. I apply it to my wet face with my fingers. Because the consistency is so thick, I can really spend time scrubbing it in all over my face and it doesn’t disappear.

All it takes is a nickel size dollop pet use. It has a fresh fragrance to it that it not too strong. Once I have really covered my entire face, I rinse in warm water and instantly feel my skin has been polished.

Regular use prevents blackheads and clogged pores. It also eliminates blackheads and clogged pores in one use if you already have blemishes before using. It doesn’t dry out my skin, even with daily use.

It leaves my skin feeling supple and moisturized. St. Ives Apricot Scrub has been good to me and my skin for years and years so I am a loyal user and advocate for the product. Over the years they St.

Ives has released different formulations of the apricot scrub for all different skin types and skin concerns so everyone should be able to choose the formulation that suits their own personal skin care needs.

This is the first time that I have purchased this Equate Face Scrub and it is not for me. I don’t suffer from Acne, nor is my skin sensitive but I do tend to purchase face products that contain salicylic acid as it keeps my skin under control.

This has a nice scrubby lotion consistency but this has made my breakout on my forehead, chin, cheeks and neck. Basically where I have been using the product. This does have a plastic kind of scent to it too but I didnt think much of it.

I did use an Equate Face Scrub prior to purchasing this one but it was out of stock and I purchased this medicated one instead. I will not be purchasing this again. I used this for over 4 weeks before writing my review.

This is a great default exfoliator for face skin that’s not too sensitive. It can be a bit drying so it’s a good practice to always use a great moisturizer so that the skin can be replenished afterwards.

In addition to being slightly drying, it’s another good practice to use this scrub maybe once a week. Over exfoliating the face skin can open you up to more breakouts and texture issues. However, I love using this for my body.

It’s that time again, TO GET ANOTHER BOTTLE! I recommend this to any age and any type of skin! The salicylic acid helps with black heads and acne. It simply states on the bottle it CAN cause drying or irritation if USED with other acne washes.

Which if it does occur, only use one at a time. The smell is WONDERFUL, in my opinion! ( yes of course there are better smelling things, but the price point and what it is and does, no real comes on my end) It wakes me up in the morning, it brightens my face and shrinks my pores.

Remember to wash your face in warm water and rinse with cool or cold, that helps to minimize your pores and help your skin to tighten up so it’s not as oily 🙂 (same with your scalp too if you have a problem with oily hair) your welcome 🤗.

This product is not for sensitive skin at all. It makes it irritable and red. My husband did not like it. I on the other hand have very oily skin and it works great for me. I’ve used it for almost 2 weeks and it’s cleared and keeping my acne dry.

No new acne appearing for the last 2 weeks. The pump squirts out too much at one pump. Not easy to push with one hand as the pump is hard. The scent is not pleasant but at this point, I’m going for quality over smelling good.

Completely messed up my face, I had red patches of skin everywhere on my face after using this product. I get bad bad cystic type acne that doesn’t form to a head and was recommended this product. I wish I would have been warned about the hash effects it could have had on my skin prior to trying it out.

Will never use Biore product again due to how scary that experience was and how misleading the bottle and directions were.

Cant say I’m a fan of this product. I bought it because I heard good things about it it, but it didn’t really help with my breakouts. When I first started using it, I did notice a slight difference but after a while it wasn’t clearing my breakouts at all.

Lasted longer than i expected. 2nd time buying it. I think it works. My skin doesn’t feel too rough anymore especially my lower legs – keratosis pilaris. Although dermatologists have mentioned that KP does improve with time, so I didn’t really care.

however, my skin itches due to dry skin. I have made a change in body wash – now using non fragrance (eucerin) body cleanser instead of soap and using non fragrance body CREAM not lotion (for anyone with dry skin out there).

so I’m not sure which one made the changes, but I’d say they all contributed. Although my skin still itches time to time. Idky, but I’ve felt a bit of a difference. I usually use eucerin, but I just started testing out cerave and waiting to see of I’ll work for me.

I tried Cetaphil and that was when i got the itch again few weeks after use. My body felt really dry. This scrub has SA which is supposed to be good for KP and dry skin in general. Only down side is the fragrance, but a lot of body scrubs even without SA has fragrance.

I waited at least a month to write a review on this product because I wanted my review to be fair and accurate since it can take a while to see improvements when it comes to acne. I’ve been suffering from keratosis pilaris since I was 13 years old.

My KP is pretty severe. I have it on my arms, chest and entire back. I tried everything under the sum to no avail. I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews on this body wash so I decided to give it a try.

For the first 2 weeks, it made my KP way worse than before. I freaked out and wanted to quit using it but I held on. I’m glad I did. My skin still has a long way to go but it is extremely smooth now and the bumps have considerably decreased in number.

I will continue to use it and I hope it keeps my KP at bay. I believe it is important to add that I used this body in combination with the dermalac lotion which is also supposed to help with KP.

This is my go-to for face cleansing. No other scrub can beat the quality and price. Literally, I buy 6 or 7 of them at a time, because I know someday the price will go up, and I’ll be upset I didn’t stock up.

The fact this is acne fighting, a scrub, and (as of writing my review) only $1. 99 for a 6oz , cannot be beat. This is the only cleanser that totally gets my face AND body feeling totally clean, especially after a weekend of putting my body through celebrating and hard working out.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I will choose to use this, before a $70 bottle of Shideido skin cleanser. Quite possibly the best Target Brand product of them all.

I’m almost 34 and suffer from hormonal acne. I had run out of my previous cleanser for a couple of days and before I could get to the store I had 5 LARGE pimples pop up overnight. Target did not have my usual cleanser pads so I thought I’d try this as it is the same strength of medication but a lot cheaper.

I’ve been using it twice a day as directed for the past 4 days and it is amazing! My pimples are almost gone and my skin feels soft! I have somewhat sensitive skin and so far I’ve had no issues. My old acne pads were effective but didn’t leave my skin feeling as clean as this scrub does, so I plan to stick with it from now on!.

This thing does it’s business!! But you gotta be gentle as you gently scrub it or rub it on your face. I love using a wash cloth. It gets the impurities all out. , got my face looking beautiful. Wasted money buying it at different places.
