20 Best Screen Rooms For Camping (2023 Updated)

I bought this screen tent for car camping in Northern MN where the sudden influx of mosquitoes or flies can easily ruin a trip. This tent is easy to set up and take down. It easily fits over a 6 foot picnic table.

The zippers easily withstood both adults, and a toddler’s efforts to go in and out frequently. We did not use the guy lines, a bit due to its location, and also because we just didn’t think of it. We noted a little lift on the edges with the wind, so in preparation for a big storm, we more fully secured the stakes (x 4 corners).

Just in time for dinner, the huge storm came up with 70 mile/hr winds, hail and incredible rain. It was an intense enough storm that we actually watched a tree snap in half and fall in the distance. The Screenhouse held up!!! I was incredibly impressed and vowed to write a review when I got home.

We did get some slight splash through the screen from one direction due to wind, and water at our feet due to slow ground absorption (but that is not the tent’s fault). The rain gutters worked beautifully, as designed.

The screen tent bent just enough with winds to not break, and held its place despite no guy lines tied, and suffered no hail damage! Highly recommend. Kudos to Nemo for the smart design. In my experience, the technology, durability and efficiency of Nemo products are well worth the extra / higher price point.

I researched this purchase for months before purchasing and didn’t expect to land on the Nemo screen house, but after initial use, I am quite pleased. Setup is very simple because of the fairly intuitive design.

I can set it up myself without issue. I’m a 5’5” smaller lady. that’s a huge deal. Every other screen house had an additional rain fly that would have likely been time consuming and an added challenge to assemble especially on my own.

It held up in some blustery winds very well, staked down and guyed out. I was impressed. Tons of room and not claustrophobic feeling. Plenty of headspace, and internal pockets help keep you organized.

A few gear loops for lights or possibLy a clothesline down the ceiling ridges. The step on door flap to assist in zipper opening is a small but appreciated add on. A two year old figured it out in a couple tries.

Everything seems very robust and good quality. The lumen colour is very cheery on a grey day. It provided tons of shade and a good couple degrees cooler in the screen house than outside. Things I’m not a huge fan of – bugs LOVE the colour.

Have to be Quick on the door or the thing is littered with black flies trying to hug the walls. We only had a little bit of rainfall, nothing to really put this to the test, but I’m wondering how it will hold up during an intense rainstorm.

Would be nice to see Nemo manufacturer some sidewalls to add on in the future for the torrential downpours, or even extra shade/privacy. Also, weird observation, the side of my storage bag literally said “Victory Screenhouse Tent “Sheleter”.

Bonus points to the guy who took that to print without reading it first.

Tent is great for our family of 4. With other tents, the kids would always let bugs in by forgetting to close the door. With this tent, the hinged D door closes easily and velcros shut. The screened area is a useful spot for our gear and dog.

Setup, while more tedious than other tents these days, can still be done by one person in less than half an hour. The red tape used to identify the poles has come off of one though. The auto-rollup windows are a pretty cool feature, as well as the built in lighting.

The room divider is also useful to give some additional privacy with kids running around. It would have been nice if there were more hooks or loft shelves to store gear. The tent can also get pretty stuffy in direct sunlight.

It has rained a couple times and I haven’t seen any issues with water leaking into the tent, other than dampness due to leaving the windows opened. Overall, a great family tent.

was a little skeptical when buying this tent because it was so inexpensive compared to others similar in size. I’m so glad we bought it though! we took it camping for the first time and it was very easy to put up.

my husband and I got it up within 15 minutes. it’s so roomy inside! I like that there’s the options to create the “rooms” or leave it open. we left it open and it had plenty of room for our full size air mattress and two twin size pads for our kids, and suitcases.

the screen patio was great for coolers and shoes. I highly recommend this tent!!!.

If you have a family and you go camping for longer periods of time… For example, more than three or four nights at a time… I highly recommend this tent! The quality is amazing and the features are unique and desirable.

The netted little porch area you could say is awesome and such an asset. The space the stent provides is better than so many others we’ve tried over the years… We can stand up that’s awesome! Obviously, this one is going to take longer and more effort to put up and take down, which is the only reason for the four stars because clearly that part can be frustrating, especially if it rains and having to leave it out for drying etc.

and the space it can take up and the weight. However, saying all that and taking all that into account, this tent is amazing. As I was saying, if you are a big camper and your family goes often and for longer periods of time, it’s absolutely worth it.

I purchased this tent for working on wildfires in Alaska, since the sun doesn´t set there, and that can make sleeping difficult sometimes. I spent 16 nights in it and had to set it up and take it down thrice, so I feel as if I´ve thoroughly tested this tent.

PROS: Set up is actually quite easy, much easier than take-down, I thought. The poles slide nicely into housing on 4 corners of the tent, and you just start clipping tent material to said poles. In all, it takes about 3-4 minutes to get the tent “standing.

” This tent could easily sleep 4 people. It´s quite roomy inside there! CONS: While this advertises “darkroom” technology, it doesn´t achieve much of anything in that regard. The rainfly and windowpane covers are made of this black, rubbery material that blocks out light, but the tent body itself is not.

Thus, unless the sun is shining directly overhead, you´re not going to notice much (if any) light reduction. I would usually head to bed at around 11PM, and the light level was such that you could read a book inside the tent without any eye strain.

The notion that this tent will provide you with a dark environment is simply not true. Biggest con: this thing is *extremely* sensitive to wind. Like, it will bow over on itself in a 5mph breeze unless you thoroughly stake this sucker down with the guylines.

I repeat, STAKE THE GUYLINES DOWN. Simply staking 4 corners of the tent is not enough. This wants to be a kite more than any other tent I have used. Overall, 3/10, would not recommend. Roomy, sure, but not a great piece of equipment.

They have a 12×12 and 10×10 model, and we opted for the 12×12 for more space at both ends of the picnic table. Many screen houses are 10×10 and you end up losing a corner of the picnic table that could be used for tabletop cooking because it gets pushed against the tent.

We tend to use both ends of the picnic table to cook. It is a solid tent with very good choices on how you want to enter or exit the tent (either from the center or the side. Fabric is top notch for both the mesh and nylon portions.

It was very easy to set up between my husband and I. There is a video out there to help how to do the set up and store the tent. We used that and it was pretty straight forward. We put down one side of the awning to block the road, lights and other campers from seeing our site while keeping the awning up on the other three sides to see our site.

Again, other screen houses don’t have the awning options on all four sides. What I did not like is that the tent comes with yellow plastic pegs. They break and frankly, we purchased metal pegs instead for the different terrains and ease of removal.

It comes with guy lines, but would have preferred them to be attached to the tent then in the bag like how some tents attach guy lines. It is also expensive, but after camping in 4 days of rain with thunderstorms using a different model that was ‘water resistant’, the waterproofing on this tent makes the camping experience more enjoyable no matter the weather.

You could use a tarp, but then you’d be eaten by mosquitos/flies at the picnic table. The bag is also very large and heavy, but for us as a car campers, this was worth the purchase and lets our family (with two young kids) have a more enjoyable experience camping over the next few years.

We hesitated on buying this screen house when there are so many other options available, but in the end, after a lot of homework, this was the best option for a family that does a minimum of 2 camp trips per year.

We aren’t the family that goes to resorts or distant getaways so this was worth it.

We got this to use as an outdoor living area when we go camping in our RV. We knew that we would need something that could stand up to all types of weather up in the mountains and this definitely solved all issues about potentially being stuck indoors during those times.

This screen house did not disappoint us at all! It was super easy to set up and take down, survived a very windy rain storm, and kept the mosquitos at bay after said storm. This was was a definite life saver.

One of my favorite features was that each side of the screen room could be rolled up or down separately. This allowed me to set up the tent however I needed, whether it was to allow for ventilation or even to open the view.

The best part is that it is SUPER durable. Even with two toddlers messing with the zippers, this thing seems completely new. The reason I docked a star is that I had to buy extra lines and stakes to ensure it would be fully secure and because I do wish the center height was a little taller.

I’m 5’8 and had to duck to get inside and my husband could not fully extend inside. Overall, it did allow our family that extra outdoor space we so craved and desired.

I have heard such great things about this brand! Love the screenhouse! I love that it flips into a screenhouse so you can put camping chairs right outside your tent and still be covered. And then I love that it flips back into a tent when you’re ready to sleep.

The height and width is great and gives you plenty of room and space and you can keep your belongings inside the tent because there is enough room. It comes compacted nicely in a huge bag and then individual bags inside for the poles.

The only downside is learning to fit it back into the bag, lol! It is a challenge. The other downside is if you are true campers and you’re going to go hike and carry this tent, I wish the bag had backpack like straps for easy carrying.

Instead, it’s like a duffle bag and it’s really heavy so it becomes uncomfortable quick.

The tent leaked at the seam connecting the side window section to the lower tent section on one of the side panels. On close inspection, it is clear this was a defect in the tape/glue which escaped quality inspection during manufacturing.

I would not call this an ‘instant’ tent. After a learning curve, it takes approximately 15 minutes to set up from start to finish (unpacking to last stake). the same amount of time as with my flexible pole tent.

It does take approximately 60 seconds to extend the poles, but this is only after the tent, poles, and center hub have been positioned just correctly. The tent is heavy and bulky. And as noted above, the poles and center hub need to be positioned just correctly or the tent is neither going to go up, nor fold-up when taking the tent down.

On one occasion during take down and fold-up, the tent fabrics somehow tightened, causing a small rip in the tent floor. Strong gusts of wind will dislodge the poles that support the fly over the doors.

After years of searching for a durable and quality tent for my family, I was pleasantly surprised with the value and ease of set-up of this Coleman – Skylodge 10 person Tent. The interior of the tent is so spacious, I have never come across one like it! Not only is it a breeze to assemble, but it is also easy to fold-up and pack away.

In the past I have had terrible time disassembling a tent and trying to fit it back into it’s case. The amount of space inside the tent is unbelievable and it has so many awesome features! Such as the room divider and interior pockets for personal storage.

This awesome tent has a max height of over 6 feet, and can fit up to 4 queen size mattresses! This tent is an incredible value, made with exceptional quality materials. I look forward to many more years of family camping fun! I totally recommend!.

My husband and I have experience with the sky Lodge variation of Coleman’s camping equipment! The eight person instant cabin from sky Lodge is a definite upgrade from our last Coleman tent. I will say it does take a little more than a 60 seconds from start to finish, however, it is extremely easy to pitch! Where you pitch your tent / cabin / shelter when campingmakes all the difference! I’m excited to have this and test it out on our pre-planned camping trip next month My experience with this type of tent and variation (although a 4 person), has always worked out well for us and having this eight person sky Lodge now is a definite upgrade! Definitely going to love the extra room it has in it! We are very excited to be able to take our grandchildren with us this year.

And that would not have been possible if had it not been for this tent! I am not at all the kind of person who can look at a tent and just set it up! This tent however seems fairly straightforward and definitely easier than some of the tents we’ve experienced in the past! The extra amenities that this tent brings are a welcomed upgrade! I do know from owning the previous version of this tent that it does withstand the rain, it has extra features which I do love.

We can blow up our air beds queen size at that, outside of the tenant easily bring it inside as the openings are wide enough to do so. The rain fly on this 10th / cabin is very good. Keeps the rain out.

I’m assuming it will do it with this one as well. We love the fact that you can stand up my husband is 6 ft and he’s able to move around the tent freely. Myself being 5’55 I have no problems whatsoever I can go from one side of the tent to the other without having to crouch over! It’s sturdy design is a welcome added feature giving us a security that we need to enjoy our trip! Very much looking forward to this camping trip and bringing back all the necessary details to update this review! However I will say if it performs anything like the four man version I’m sure I’m going to be extremely thrilled with it! I will definitely update my review once we are back from our camping trip! After our last trip ended with our tent being filled to the brim with rain water, we decided to do some research on affordable water resistant tents. Eventually we settled on this one. That said, here are some pros and cons.

Pros: -Tall person friendly. The two of us are 5’3 and 6’1 and neither of us had to duck much -Nice views. You can unzip the windows for a panoramic view. -Roomy. We had space for a full size air mattress, all of our packs, cooler, lawn cart, 4 tier ferret cage, AND our other two friends on their camping chairs while it was raining and still didn’t have trouble maneuvering around.

-East setup and tear down. Tent poles are color coded to match the bands on the sleeves. With the two of us, it really only took a few minutes to get completely up. Tear down was just as fast and we were able to pretty easily fit the tent back into its bag.

-Keeps you dry! Our first outing with this tent saw us deep in the Missouri wilderness getting buckets upon buckets of water dumped on us. It started raining at 1am and didn’t fully stop until 2pm. After 13 solid hours of torrential rainfall, our tent was still almost completely dry.

Yes, if rain is pounding on your tent, it’s gonna get a little damp. We stuck a small hand towel in each of the corners to catch any water that may pool up– there wasn’t much, not enough to make the towels soggy.

Even the porch area, which lacks a tub floor, was relatively dry. It really only got wet from our shoes tracking in and out. Cons: -Rainfly needs reinforcing. This is actually my biggest gripe and a very simple fix for anyone handy with a sewing machine.

When we got this tent out for a pre-camping trial setup, we staked down the rainfly and a gust of wind came along and tore a section of the material. After inspecting it, I can say for certain that this happened because of the design.

At the very back of the fly, there is a guy line attached only to the fly’s bias whereas the others are all attached to the bias as well as a seam. All the lines attached at seams were sturdy and held without issue.

So I patched the rainfly and sewed the line back in place with a few layers of zigzag stitching and ironed on some heat bond. It held up great in the rain! *I contacted Coleman about the issue with the rainfly and they were quick to fix it for us.

Their customer service was great and I had a new product on my doorstep within 2 days! -Floor is a little delicate. We DID put this thing through the wringer, but we experienced a slight problem with camp chairs inside the porch area.

I placed my camp rug down inside the screened porch so our friends could bring their chairs in and sit while it was raining, but by the time they cleared out one of the chairs with pointy feet poked two holes in the floor.

Not a huge deal for us since it wasn’t in the actual tent, but a word of warning for anyone that plans on having pointed objects in theirs. -Center of rainfly tends to gather water. It eventually runs off but we decided to get up every few minutes to push the tent up so the water wasn’t standing just in case.

Not a huge deal but still a bit annoying. -Weak tent pegs. This should be a given for anyone with experience but those little pegs that come with all tents aren’t really the best. We used them for some sections but for the four corners of both the tent and the rainfly, we used stronger pegs.

-Windows on the sides can’t be opened in the rain. I suppose you CAN if you don’t mind getting wet, but I liked how you could open the back window during rain without getting soaked. If the side windows were protected by the rainfly the same way then you could.

Not so much a design flaw as much as it is a design preference. All in all, I would highly recommend this tent for someone who has beginner to intermediate camping experience.

I HATE how so many tents have the solid coverings to the windows on the outside – perverts dream. I should be able to close my windows for privacy, safety or weather without going outside. This tent has 3 huge windows and easy to use zipper closures inside the tent with 3 toggles across the top of each window to prevent the window fabric gapping.

CHECK! Why have a porch w/o a floor – bugs, snakes, spiders, etc – and many porch screens are sloped so the rain can easily come in and flood the covered porch area w/ or w/o a floor. This tent has a wonderful rain fly that covers the entirety of the porch and the porch itself has a drain of screen along the back.

CHECK! And speaking of the porch – It easily fits two lawn chairs and a small table to sit and enjoy the view bug free. CHECK! I don’t much get excited about gear lofts but this has several. BONUS! I really prefer help setting it up and taking it down BUT that being said it can be done in about 30 minutes by one person.

I’m a later middle aged woman so it’ll be under 30 minutes if your knees are spry and your back is nimble. CHECK! I may sell this one and go up to a 6 person – why? Because I like a tent to be a bit spacious like I am living in a van not my car.

But I may not, time will tell. Used several times this past summer (5 – 7 day stretches) and LOVE it other than wishing it had a couple more feet of space for me and my stuff. I’m counting on next summer being the same.

I like to leave my suitcase open on the floor for the week, an oscillating fan – electric or battery powered, and my journaling bag on the floor too plus my mattress. I spread out a little and don’t like it too compact.

This tent allows that. No holes or pulls in the bug screen. All poles and cords accounted for. I’ll invest in heavy duty stakes next summer because every place I camped had different soil and next summer should be a beach trip so I’ll need good deep sand stakes too but I look forward to my Coleman being my home away from home.

I was surprised that the tent did not include any set up instructions. Very disappointed with this as it was not intuitive. The next time I set up the tent I will be less stressful. I was lucky to have another person to help me or I don’t think I could have done it.

I also had one pole section split in half when I set it up. I was lucky to have some duct tape to save the day. I have not experienced any rain with this tent yet but I am worried that rain will come in as the fly just doesn’t seem to be large enough.

Nevertheless, it does seem to be well constructed and I would recommend this tent as it is large and roomy. If the tent had been easier to set up and a pole section did not split I would have given this review a higher rating.

I love this 8 man tent. Truth be told, it’s just my husband and me. So an 8 man tent is what some may call excessive for 2 people. But let me tell you, I love having so much space. I’m used to tiny backpacking tents so when I was deciding on a tent to use at drive up campsites, I decided to go big.

It was very easy to set up with 2 people (we didn’t argue at all!) and after the first time, I think I’d be fine to set it up by myself. We set up our bed in the main room like it was a master bedroom.

Being able to stand up all the way (we’re 5’4” and 5’7”) was luxurious. It has 2 large windows and a nice vent. Even when it rained with all the windows zipped up and the rain fly on, it was still breezy and not stuffy.

I saw a few other people mention the “door” between the main room and the ante room is a perfect circle so you have to step up and over to get through. We didn’t mind at all as it gives it some character (great for photos!) and it keeps the main room separate as the clean room and the ante room the more dirty room for wiping feet off and dirty towels and gear.

It would have been nice if we had packed a little dustbin and broom for this reason. The ante room you can almost stand all the way up in. We used it like a patio, storage and food pantry. We could easily fit a chair or two and a table for food prep inside.

The zip windows are on all 3 sides so it feels like a screened in patio. Only minor complaint was the bottom horizontal zippers at the entrance catch easily on the fabric meant to keep the zippers dry.

We were careful after it happened a few times and it was fine. Overall, I think it’s a phenomenal tent. I could easily see a family of 4-5 or a group of friends sleeping in it or if you want to feel like you’re glamping just 2 people like we did.

I car camp with my two dogs and this provides us with lots of room. I loved the screen area to sit in the evening keep the bugs off but still able to enjoy the outdoors. It’s also a good area to store food away from bugs and wildlife.

It’s easy to set up. I was able to do it by myself and it wasn’t a problem. The only negative is I wish it had a small opening to allow an electric cord in the sleeping area so I don’t have to run it through the front door.

Overall great tent!.

Used it this w/e – design is outstanding! Pluses: 1. Bug shelter, rain tarp, & sun shelter all in 1 2. < 5 lbs if packed minimally: incredible! 3. Can be put up between trees in ~1 minute: rope thru 3 loops, tie around 2 trees, place 4 pegs, & peg 2 lines 4.

Big loops on top for many rope sizes 5. Can be installed with accessory poles or between 2 trees. Poles not included; poles lines & pegs are 6. Clips to open door or tack mesh up for tarp use. 7. Triple zipper allows hammock (or clothesline) inside the shelter.

Brilliant! 8. Oversized bag for easy wet packing. +++ Negatives: 1. Did whoever made the instructions talk to the designer? No mention of features like triple zip or lantern holder, which needs to be supported by the center top loop to minimize sag.

Throw the instructions away. 2. Ridiculous tree use instructions! Shows mounting points 25′ up in trees, which would be difficult to access, dangerous, and impossible to adjust the tightness without lifting the netting off the ground, even if u could reach.

If u don’t camp with a 24′ ladder, simply run a line through the three tarp mount points and pull it taut between the trees with a trucker’s hitch or similar – much more stable in wind. The trees can be any distance apart.

Tie small ropes from the trees to tension tarp along support line. 3. Mediocre pole use instructions. Supporting the 2 end points leaves a sag in the middle and no lantern hanger support. Instead, run a 15′ line through the tarp support loops and pull tautly between the poles to act as a structural line; use small lines to pull the shelter taut.

Notes: 1. Heavy plastic & metal pegs included. OK for car camping, but if u trip with available trees, dump the 12 heavy pegs for 6 light pegs; discard the included 4 extra pole lines & weight is 4. 6 lbs for the CT13.

2. Odd to have 2 models so close in size & weight. 3. No rain so I can’t comment on protection, but excellent bug protection and better sun protection than other tarps I’ve used.

Firstly, ignore the review that is negative. You can set this up with trees and no poles, and the product description clearly states poles are not included anyways. If you want poles, Eureka sells them.

This is a wonderful product for canoe camping or car camping. It provides a wonderful safe haven to escape the bugs to relax and cook. You can set up your hammock through it with the 3 zippers which is awesome.

I got the bigger version (CT13) which I recommend because the weight difference isn’t much and the extra space is awesome. It’s not small or light, it would not work for backpacking. But it is perfectly reasonable to pack for backcountry canoe camping and I happily carry the extra weight in prime bug season.

By the time stakes and guy lines are included I would say it weighs about 8 lbs. Negatives: lots of stakes to stake out the entire base. It can be annoying to set up and take down for this reason. Setting it up perfectly takes some practice: if you string it too high it’ll be hard to stake down properly; too low and the mesh gets in the dirt and the zippers are hard to open.

Ensure you stake the base down underneath the tarp portion, as this will prevent rain from running down the mesh. These are just small things, though. It’s an amazing product.

Eureka is not a high-end brand but this is a pretty great product, especially considering the few comparable lightweight tarp/screen systems on the market require multiple purchases and aren’t an integrated item.

This turns the heavy car-camper’s bug shelter into something that’s at least somewhat back country friendly. The fly, bug mesh, and zippers are good quality and strike a reasonable balance between weight and sturdiness.

Pegs and guylines are on the cheap side but many people can upgrade them from gear they already own. Non-reflective guylines always irritate me, especially on products like this that need very wide guyouts, but reflective paracord is cheap.

This is not an ultralight backpacker’s product but is reasonable for a canoe trip, or to replace a more standard tarp as a luxury item on a backpacking trip. For a bug-season trip involving a base camp and daily forays as opposed to a through-hike it earns its keep.

Pitches well with MEC’s tarp poles or by lashing the ridgeline to trees, but the latter approach needs some height to work properly. Setup is fast and easy. It has plenty of extra tie-down points for added flexibility.

Zippers are at the tall sides and have three pulls, allowing a hammock to be set up inside. Even the 11 foot version is just big enough to cover an XL Hennessey. Running the end-lines of the hammock through the pull loops on the upper zip pulls keeps things mostly gap-free when you put weight on the hammock.

Using a bug room on a hammock with integrated netting may seem over the top, but on extremely buggy situations this really improves hammock comfort, as you no longer have frustrated mosquitoes buzzing an inch from your ears all night.

Between mid-May and mid-July. I’d seriously consider carrying this instead of my hex tarp. Take out the hammock and either size is big enough for 2-3 adults to lounge in comfort. It isn’t a party-sized shelter and rigging it over a car campground picnic table would be very awkward.

While this could be slung over a bivy or just a sleeping bag it would not be ideal as it really has to be raised to 7 feet high on the tall ends.

Ho-ly cow. this thing is HUGE! When I first decided to go with this tent over the similar instant-up tent I was a little worried I had made the wrong decision. Yes, it takes a lot longer to set up and tear down, but in my opinion it is WORTH it when you realize the real-estate you’re creating.

Things to note: We have a family of 5, camp a few times a year, and typically stay on site for 3-4 days (an extended weekend or longer). The GOOD: –The space. it’s incredible to have headroom and walking-around room in a tent like this.

–Front porch. this hybrid area can serve as a mudroom or a bedroom if that makes sense, and it’s great for keeping bugs out of the main cabin. –Built like a brick house. during out first camping trip with this tent we had torrential rains for 30+ hours and major wind gusts and this thing just laughed at the weather.

Obviously it’s not going to protect against things like tree branches falling, but rain and wind didn’t affect this thing at all –the BAG! Finally a tent that actually fits back in it’s storage bag with room to spare.

Use the tent pole bag to roll the tent around – works great. The BAD (no deal breakers here!): –It’s heavy. You’re not hauling this thing much further than your car, but that’s also the trade off for the incredible space you get out of this tent.

–25+ minutes to set up, and the same (or more) to tear down. and much more difficult if you’re by yourself. Did a backyard test before taking it to the field and learned the hard way how to best set it up solo.

Stake it in BEFORE adding poles and it will save you a LOT of time and effort. The UGLY (Being super nit-picky here): –I wish the 3 sides of the rain fly over the main cabin curved outward to better cover the windows during a rain storm.

–Not a fan of the split in the material where the poles go through across the sides (grey and orange poles especially. ) Not sure why this isn’t one continuous sheath for the poles to go through, but perhaps that’s just a limitation of the manufacturing process.

It’s super annoying to have to fish the pole through the second half of the sheaths they go through. — The rain fly metal rings (for lack of a better word) on the black ground poles are not well-designed and two of them came out during the first set-up.

Not a huge deal, and I found a way to replace them with actual metal rings (keychain rings) for a more reliable anchor for the rain fly hooks. Despite my critiques (being overly critical in hopes it helps tweak future models), I still need to give this tent 5 stars because it is just incredible, especially for the money I paid (and THANK YOU for offering a military/veteran discount, Core!) Now this tent is clearly designed for a very specific use – big family, longer duration trips, etc.

– so consider this before buying, but if you are anything like us, you’ll find that the weight and the extra setup time is 100% worth the benefits gained from a large, high-celine cabin with front porch that keeps the dirt, rain, and bugs out of the main cabin.

This was my first time purchasing a Core tent after years of using the other C brand. I set it up for the first time pretty easy to understand. I was concerned with how tight and difficult it was to insert the pins into the poles.

I am hopeful that the next time will be easier. The tent is HUGE with plenty of room for my family. I am tall and really appreciate being able to stand up straight in the entire tent. I am excited about the amount of ventilation ability with this tent during the hot summer months.

The biggest issue I have is that there are already small holes at the top of the ten cross beam. A defect that I am concerned will continually get worse after each trip. Core customer service started out great with communication.

However, it has been over a week after I have reached out to them about the holes and it has been radio silence. I am still hopeful.

I only have 4 people in my family but wanted a tent that would grow with us (and our stuff). Some of the things I was looking for during my research were: screened in porch with a sealed bottom, large interior space to fit 4 comfortably, random perks like hanging pockets/pouches, an electricity flap for plugging things in, easy setup, and affordability.

I think this tent crossed those things off! While I wouldn’t think you’d actually want to fit 11 people in here, you probably could, though it would be a tight squeeze. For our maiden voyage, we only had one queen-sized air mattress and had at least 2-3 feet of space on either side (even more in front).

The front porch area is spacious enough to store gear or have a couple camping chairs and small table. There is a lot of ventilation and even with the rain fly on, it felt like we had decent air flow.

I can also attest to how it handles water, after personally experiencing getting caught in a multi-hour thunderstorm. For the first 30 minutes, there was no rain fly and plenty of rain, both in and out of the tent.

After getting the rain fly on, the rain stayed out for the rest of the night. This did result in us having to tear down and hang the tent out to dry, but I can now attest that it dried out fully in the sun and was able to be set up again later that day without any problem.

Set up and tear down were both relatively easy. Set up is easier with 2 people but could possibly be done with 1. Tear down is doable with 1 person as well. Fitting it back into the bag takes some trial and error, but again, doable.

The ability to stand in both sections is really quite nice. The only “downside” is that the tent is big and heavy, though you can’t really expect anything different for an 11 person tent. You probably would not want to take this backpacking unless your hike was very short.

Overall, highly recommend and can’t wait to camp again.

Purchased the Instant Setup Screen Tent yesterday and decided to set it up as a trial run before camping, and thank goodness I did. The instructions say to extend the telescoping roof poles until they click.

I was only able to extend one of the three roof poles as the poles are assembled incorrectly. Each pole has two sections, and each of which has a flat side so that you can slide the sections apart to where they correctly align in order to be able to click into place.

However, the flat sides of the sections were not lined up on three of the four roof telescoping poles. Therefore, they were wedged in such that they were impossible to extend and therefore, impossible to use.

Such a disappointment and such poor quality control on the part of the manufacturer. Will return tomorrow. This is the second Ozark Trail product I’ve purchased and both were defective.

We are impressed by the quality of construction of this product. It has a similar pop up design as many tents and car shades are now designed where it will twist/fold into a concentric circle. The 10×10 is ~2.

5 feet across when folded and is on a larger scale than some similar items we already own (nice thing is we knew exactly what to expect and how to set up/take down). I’d recommend two people to open 1st time as the sturdiness of this tent could whack you as it springs open with alot of power.

It can be opened and set up by one person but two is easier as the 2nd person can help hold the panels apart (they try to fold back into each other at 1st). This Gazebo is perfect for any outdoor setting where you want to eliminate flying critters getting in the way.

We used it camping and it did a great job of keeping all flies and mosquitoes out of our way (especially when eating). A tarp is recommended if you also need to address critters such as ants. We plan to use this same item at the beach for the shade it provides as much as the mesh and in our backyard as needed.

Great product that is portable and a lifesaver if you are in an environment that has alot of bugs.

This large screened-in canopy works great. It is easy to set-up but be VERY careful. The packaging warns you that it opens with significant force and it is not exaggerating. It could throw a person back.

It takes quite a bit of strength to fold it back up but it is awesome because it folds up so small and is easy to store. The bag that it goes in is the perfect size, it is not like air mattresses where the bags seem to be too small for the mattress to go back in.

If you fold this thing back up correctly(there are only like 3-4 folds), it fits great. I love that is has UV protection, I like not having to worry much about putting sunscreen on my baby every hour when outside.

We have used this in our backyard to keep mosquitos away while the little ones play. It is great to not have to worry about bug spray too! It is very tall, my husband is 6’2” and he can easily walk around in it.

There are zipper doors on two sides so it is easy to get in and out pending where you set it up. The walls are mesh so you still get a breeze, I am thankful it does not feel stuffy inside. I will plan to bring this to my children’s sporting events in the future to provide shade and a contained place for little ones to play visibly.

I think we will also bring it to the beach. At first I was disappointed because I wanted it to have a base but now I actually like it better without one because I do not have to wash out the entire thing.

I can just lay a blanket down, put the canopy on top and then wash the blanket after. I always struggle cleaning out the insides of tents so this works well. I am very excited to use this canopy, I think it will get a lot of use! I highly recommend it!.

It was light and easy to set up but be careful when opening it because it opens with force. Also it is definitely smaller than 10×10 because of the curved shape. But the worst part (and the reason why I returned it) was that there was absolutely NO ventilation.

Im in my 20s with no breathing issues so there was no reason for me to feel this way but I literally felt like I was suffocating after 5-10 mins because of the lack of oxygen. I thought I was imagining it so I did a fan test where I stayed inside the tent and someone held a fan on high speed on the outside and I felt NOTHING.

I was so lightheaded at that point and it felt so good to finally breathe when I exited the tent (no exaggeration). It would be a great tent if the mesh wasnt so tight. Im PETRIFIED of bugs so I get the idea, but bugs still wouldnt get in if there were a tiny bit bigger holes because there are practically no holes at the moment.

I have friends with more expensive tents that have actual screens and bugs dont get in, so something similar would have been nice. However, other reviewers didnt mention this problem so maybe you wont have an issue.

Other similar tents had several reviews that mentioned the lack of ventilation so maybe I shouldve known but I thought it may be different.

Love this tent. Ordered it for some ultra comfortable car camping in the Sierras for a week. We (very comfortably) fit a queen air mattress, the dog’s bed, our clothing bags and even a table for our morning coffee in the main portion.

The main room has the most wonderful screened ceiling. Perfect for star gazing in bed at night. The solid walls with zipper screen windows are perfect for when you want some privacy. The screen patio was perfect for dirty clothing, as a “mud room” and for enjoying the outdoors away from mosquitoes.

The screen room also zips up for privacy but we almost never used that. Sure it’s very handy though. I really hope this tent lasts me many many years and trips because it’s almost the most perfect tent for plush car camping.

I wish the floor was made of a thicker material, it just feels like the forest floor can easily puncture it. Also, wish that the main cabin had a few more pockets. Other than that, perfect tent. Oh, and it’s really heavy, just be aware, wasn’t a problem for us.

Oh oh oh, and I found it easy to set up and pack away once we finished camping. Another win!.

This is my second Core tent (first is larger, family instant tent) Got 4 person straight wall for solo car camping with my cat and dog in dispersed areas. I set it up in 12 minutes first time, 9 minutes second time.

The attached instructions on the storage bag are clear and simple. Despite arthritis and being a solo camper, I had no problems assembling it. (see attached unboxing-setup video) Interior has room for my Coleman XL heavy duty cot, the dog’s travel inflatable mat and my camp toilet.

Decent ventilation, missed the 3rd window though the air vent on that side does help with ventilation. Easily broke down, folded and fit into carry bag. Suggestion for solo campers; bring one small carabiner, use it to secure one hook of the rainfly so you can put it up easier.

The plastic hooks don’t stay connected to the metal clip without tension. Securing just one makes it easy to set up the rainfly. I did it without assistance twice, but the wind catches it and I wished for a helper.

For folks that say they’ve been putting tents up for years and this tent didn’t make sense. those reviews don’t make sense! This tent was SIMPLE to put together. Each of the poles are color coded. I can see the tape eventually peeling/wearing off.

So probably spray painting the ends might be helpful once that happens. Tips for putting it together, when taking all the poles out of the bag, pile the poles together by color. Simple organization. Before going on our trip though, we tested out putting the tent together and it took us about 30 minutes for the first try.

The only issue we had was that we’re no taller than 5’7″ and it was a reach for us to put all the clips up at the top. Other then that, setting up and taking down the tent was easy peasy! Going from our normal 3 person backpacking tent to this 8 person tent was such an amazing transition! We even spoiled ourselves and comfortably fit all our things in the tent, got a high queen sized air mattress, and had two dogs with us.

The windows were great. With the rainfly on, there is a little overhang, which enabled us to keep the windows open enough to have the crosswinds flow through but high enough for privacy. The first night we used it, it downpoured all night.

No leaks thank goodness! Not having a floor in the porch was actually nice too because it made cleaning up even easier in there (esp after it rained). My only gripe with the tent was that there was literally only ONE SINGLE HOOK inside the tent to hang a lantern or light.

And honestly, it really isn’t even the best spot! To solve that issue, I used a few of my tarp clips and pinched a bit of the tent roof and clipped it there. But it was a slight bummer only because with such a large tent, you’d expect a little bit more options to put some lighting in.

The best part of the tent was the porch. I loved it. It not only gave you this small sense of security ( I know, it’s a tent) but it also gave you one more spot to try and shoo the bugs away before going into the actual tent.

It’s also great to keep your dirty shoes out there! Highly highly recommended! For those like us going from a backpacking tent to this humongous thing, you wont regret it! OH one last thing, the bag for it, the handles and the wheels were PERFECT.

We just got back from what should have been a 5 day camping trip in northern Colorado. The first night, rain started just past midnight and lasted until day break. Torrential rain with thunder that made you feel as if lightening was going to kill you at any second.

Tent did well, did not leak and we stayed dry. Second day just after lunch it started hailing. It came in 4 waves. The first the hail was light and mushy. The second the hail was pea sized and hurt. At this point I thought there’s no way a tent will hold up to hail and we need to get our stuff out to keep it dry, or get out tarps and cover it to keep the hail from ripping the tent.

We covered it with tarps, tied together 3 because the tent is huge, during the third wave. again pea sized. When wave 4 hit I knew the tarps weren’t going to be enough. The hail was now marble size and hard enough to make me bleed when it hit me ( I was out in it, trying to knock it off the roof to keep some weight off of the roof having read reviews where people had the tent collapse.

This marble size hail lasted 30 min and looked like about 2 inches of snow on the ground when done. The tent held up! It didn’t collapse. It didn’t tear. I left the tarps on, thinking it might hail again.

It rained again that night, but no hail. The following day went ok until dinner time. Another storm rolling in. My wife said something to me, and as I turned to answer her. A huge wind gust hit me in the back.

About 70 mph I would guess. I watched the tent lift and roll just as she was reaching for the zipper. Bent the poles, tore off tabs, if there hadn’t been trees behind the tent it would have flown to Kansas I’m sure.

The same wind blast took out my 2 canopies, 3 other campsites canopies and the awnings on 4 people’s campers. This tent was awesome! Fit 2 adults on a queen mattress. 2 teens, the baby’s play pen, plus 2 heaters and all our bags and could still walk around not stepping on anyone.

We ordered this Orzark “10” person tent from Walmart. When it arrived the box said 8 person. We contacted Walmart, coustomer service was great sent us another to correct the mistake. well when the second one arrived it also was a 8 person as well.

Walmart has either goofed in the discrption or in the warehouse. We kept it anyways. Happy we did! We just got back from a 6 night camping trip set up on a beach on one of the Great Lakes (ontario). This baby held up during a storm one night with wind and gust at 30mph and the inside of the tent never got wet from the rain.

There’s a good 5in of space between the tent and the rain fly so with wind and rain the two will never touch (which causes leaks). Very happy how this tent held up! We have a queen bed, and a pack n play and plenty of room move around.

The screened in porch measures at 4ft x 12ft. I suggest going to lowes and having a out door carpet cut for $30 as we did since yes, there is not a floor in the porch. There is no divider and the back wall does not have a window so a cross breeze was not as good as cld be, but still there.

Happy with the purchase and we recommend this 8/10person tent.

I hate to say that this tent is not waterproof nor will the company fix, replace, or do anything for my brand new tent that leaked. It lightly sprinkled through the rainfly above which accumulated through a day of rain in the Smoky Mountains.

Also, it dripped constantly via the tie ups for the back windows (windows were closed, dripped through the seam). I was told by the company “Core tents are water resistant and require a waterproofing spray to be waterproofed and withstand constant rain.

We recommend using Nikwax, Scotchgard Water Repellent, or Coghlan’s Seam Seal. We recommend all tents be sprayed once a season to maintain the waterproofing or as directed on the product instructions.

” So DON’T expect a dry tent upon purchase. The description says “All Core tents are equipped with water resistant PU coated fabric and taped seams to help keep moisture out. ” The tent is easy to set up and take down, but it is not waterproof upon purchase so be aware that before you take your brand new tent out in the spring rains that you better apply waterproofing to the entire thing because you won’t know where it will leak.

I haven’t camped for about 20 years and I wanted something really comfortable for my family and my worn out knees. I spent a lot of time searching and reading reviews and specs to decide this was our best choice for being basically car camping newbies.

I really wanted a tent we could stand up in and a tent with an awning. (A need I thoroughly understand from camping fiasco 20 years ago!) We set this up in the house to make sure we could do it correctly and it had all it’s parts.

The online video is really super helpful and we didn’t even need to look at the instructions on the bag. First time took about 30 min because we had to keep scooting it around inside to make enough space for it.

I believe the next time we do it outside at our camp site it won’t take very long at all. It is just remarkably simple. I think one person could set this up, except maybe the rain fly depending on the wind.

It will probably be more time setting up footprint, pegging and guying than the actual erection of tent. It was easy to bring it down and reminds me a lot of following the folds for origami. It’s just a big origami tent.

We both really like the harness for packing it back up, and the oversized bag is perfect b/c we made it back in without a problem. I am blown away and so is my husband. We’re both really tall (6′ & 6’4″) so this will be perfect.

My daughter is happy too b/c she can have her own “room” with the divider. I’ll be happy there’s enough space for us to hang out inside the tent if the rain starts while we camp. And there will be lots of room for our cots, bags and gear.

I can’t wait for June to get here! A+.

I have been eyeing this tent for a couple of years. Last year it sold out before I could buy. I bought this past winter to make sure I snagged one. I am the camper my husband is not a huge fan. Camps for me.

I wanted to make it easier and make sure we were dry in the rain. All of the above with this tent. We ended up have quite a bit of rain with down pours on our first trip. Dry as can be and with the ventilation was great.

You can close it off on cool nights and open it on humid without the rain getting in the tent. I bought the footprint also. When we packed up and picked the tent off the footprint, we had a puddle underneath and it was never in the tent.

Also this was much easier to bring home wet than our last tent. I like how it has a cinching piece to compact it better. We just used that and not the bag since the tent was wet. We just set up when we got home and dried the tent then.

Love that every corner has loops to hang things. Love how the zippers move from both directions. Love you can get in and out of the tent and not get water in the tent when raining. Of course if you leave anything in the screen house it will get wet coming through the screens.

We did not really use the stakes except I think for the screen porch. They were decent. We learned many years ago camping in the Adirondacks you need heavy duty ones for rocky ground. It is plenty of room for my glamping style for the two of us.

There is enough room if my adult son comes also.

We are using this as a replacement for an “Alcove shelter” which we loved. For us that was perfect in size, style and function. For us the Woods Canopy Tent is a bit of a compromise. It’s larger than the previous item which for our style of camping, makes it sometimes a challenge to set up but only because of the large foot print.

Folded up it’s bulkier then our previous shelter but it’s not heavy or hard to handle. On the plus side, the canopy size is good shelter from rain and a “stiff breeze”. Another thing we’ll like is the bug screens.

That will be a bonus when we head into the Yukon and Alaska. I was able to set up and take it down by myself but two people would make it easier to do. The aluminum support tubes can bend but once in place and properly staked seem to do a good job of supporting the tent.

Over all, it’s a good choice for campers and families who are headed to developed camp sites, beaches or Saturday little league ball games. For those of us who overland or disperse camp, it’s not the ideal option.

Very disappointed. I wrote woods before purchasing (see my question and others on their website) to ask if the walls attached to the floor as I needed a shelter that sealed so that my cats cannot get out.

I was assured that the walls zippered to the floor on the bottom (again, see my answered question on their website for proof). Well, the walls do not attach to the floor at all. In fact, with every breeze, the walls blow about a foot off the ground, with no way to anchor them down or attach them at all.

I wrote to them on May 11th and again about a week later and there has no m been no response. This shelter was intended to use with my cat who is not well, may not live another summer and enjoys being out in a tent or shelter of some sort.

This shelter is useless for us.

Very versatile canopy for this car tent camper who wanted extra shade and rain protection over and around my small tent (allowing me to leave the tent fly off for good ventilation). Was able to set it up myself, although 2 persons are best (don’t forget to clip the top/middle first, or you won’t be able to reach those clips later).

Was happy that the floor was a separate piece, as I didn’t need it and was able to leave that heavyweight item behind. My only suggestion is to add some rings along the top span of each opening to allow you to roll up the side sheet when you don’t need it, and something to add tension and prevent sagging of the top of the side sheet (I used a sack of small rocks tied to the top fastener loops to accomplish this).

My neighbor campers were envious.
