Best Screen Recorder For Chromebook (2024 Updated)

So I bought this Chromebook three weeks ago, and I’ve been using it every day from around 10 am to 8 pm, mostly to surf the web. And here are the pros and cons so far Pros: 1- the battery is excellent.

I’ve never had any device that could handle 10 hr+ working on one charge. 2- I haven’t had any issue with the ram so far, and I usually scrap the web for information so it can easily handle 20 + tabs at the same time 3- I switched to a 14″ from a 16″ laptop, and I can say there isn’t that much difference, except its way easier to carry this Chromebook around Cons: 1- It’s stupidly hard to open this Chromebook for no apparent reason.

I think it was a bet or something between Asus and other companies that they dared Asus to build this Chromebook with extra strong magnets. 2- I’m starting to miss Microsoft word; the google docs work fine, but there are some fine page tuning that you can only do on Microsft word 3- it’s only supported until the end of 2026, so it will be with you only for four years from now 3- I bought this in sales, and I thought it was a great deal, but I got an email the day I received it saying it’s available on Amazon at 70 CAD cheaper 🙁 I felt like Best Buy tricked me into buying it at a higher price) Finally, don’t be fooled by the comments online about the keyboard.

You can use alt + light control to change the keyboard backlight. It’s a feature, not a defect. Verdict: buy it but look for better offers.

It was a rough start. This Chromebook did not support my SmartLock fearure which disappointed me. However, when I seen the Linux features, I smiled. Purchased for study related to IT. It was more than I expected.

It has 8GB Ram. It’s a beautiful machine to me. Its lightweight and great for lazily doing IT in bed without all the weight. Its 4 way and good for the tablet feature which seems to make it a bit heavier, but no complaints.

It packs a punch for sure. I’m satisfied thus far. And it also came with 1 year of accidental damage which is spectacular and makes me quite comfortable with buying other products from them. I am an extended warranty and accidental coverage person.

If you want a smart looking Chromebook for typing on like a traditional notebook but with a hinge for watching media in tent mode, then you might be happy if you can cope with occasional difficulty reading the letters on the keyboard.

In daylight, the default backlighting makes them hard to see. You can turn it down but it defaults back to on when you restart. My problem is that the glass on the screen performs poorly when using it in tablet mode.

It’s noticeably less smooth than your average tablet or smartphone. Fingers tend to grip making scrolling maps and zooming into photos and Google Earth etc. a real chore. The screen isn’t particularly sensitive either, requiring added pressure which worsens the tackiness.

Rather than slide, your fingers can jump. What’s worse is that two finger jesturing requires your fingers to be much more spaced apart making rotation almost impossible unless you have double jointed wrists.

As an aside, anyone buying this to use it for NowTV will be disappointed to hear that the app doesn’t work anymore. NowTV has recently stopped supporting Chrome OS and the app has been removed from the Google Play store.

The media player also doesn’t download and it cannot be used in the browser either. So for me, where tablet mode for photo editing and other touch screen interaction was what swung it for me, this is unusable.

I bought this laptop 11 months ago and it has been fantastic. At the beginning, things such as battery life, simplicity to use, and the overall design are amazing. After using a mac, this laptop really has the basics of what I needed: youtube, gmail, docs, and chrome.

The screen is very clear and the keyboard has a nice feel to it. The touch screen makes things so much easier. You can do certain things with the screen that are similar to a mac such as splitting two tabs in one window, or having multiple different desktops with a swipe of your fingers.

There are charging ports on both sides which is SUPER useful. The computer isn’t plastic, so it is a lot sturdier than most chromebook models. CONS: After having it for almost a year, I have noticed some issues.

The battery life is noticably less than when I first bought it (I’m a student in Uni). It still will last you several hours, depending on how long you use it for. Also the letters on the keyboard are a very similar colour to the keyboard so it can be hard to see them if that’s something that is important to you.

There have been a few instances (twice this week) when I would have to restart the computer because the screen would completely freeze. I’m not sure why it happens but it has happened a handful of times.

I have also had major bluetooth issues with it since the beginning, as my connection to several different speakers and my headphones can sometimes cut out or start to lag. This happens most times when I’m using bluetooth.

OVERALL: Overall, I don’t regret my purchase and I love the laptop, but these recent issues I stated above have made me wonder if down the road there are only going to be more problems and if I am going to be able to use it for a long time.

If these issues don’t persist or at least get worse, then I would definitely recommend the laptop. It’s probably one of the nicest chromebooks you can get for under $650. Hopefully this was helpful! :).

I love this Chromebook. It is sleek and solid. It is like the Tesla of Chromebooks. The metallic silver color and casing gives it a classy, quality and exorbitant look. The backlit keyboard gives a much needed advantage in darker or low light environments.

The key board is comfortable and inviting to the hand and the glossy touch screen makes this a Chromebook you will bond with, very inviting for the fingers. The flip screen function converts it to a tablet with a 1920 x 1080p resolution NanoEdge display screen for an appetizing viewing experience.

Try watching a movie or something on it. 64GB eMMc storage space plus 100GB Google drive offline storage provides a lot of storage. Multiple external connection outlets provides enough connectivity. This is a Chromebook you will not want to put down and possibly carry into the shower if that is possible.

A product fit for a king. Asus should be proud for manufacturing this product. I am a proud owner of this Chroembook.

This is my first chromebook. I read a few negative reviews online but decided to buy it anyway. I love this chromebook and it’s exactly what I needed! The keyboard backlighting may be the only down side I have to mention but if you’re comfortable with typing without looking at the keys, you won’t have much trouble.

Battery life and screen are the major selling points. It’s hard to describe the impact of having such thin bezels until you boot it up and see for yourself. Some say it’s a bit expensive, but the aluminum body makes this feel like a very high quality laptop.

Like anything else, you have to do your research beforehand. If you don’t want aluminum, look for another laptop, but for me, this was everything I expected and more. Don’t take my word for it though, look up more reviews online and do more research before deciding.

I did, and I’m not dissapointed with my purchase at all.

I paid full price and received a box that had been clearly opened by someone else and this device possibly used. Completely unacceptable. The clear sticker on the plug in was filthy with dirt and dust like it had been replaced.

Volume is way too low to use chromebook to watch you tube or streaming services. Barely audible at hand held distance. Much lower sound and muffled compared to my cell phone.

I received the Chromebook about nine months ago. It worked as expected for the first nine months. The speed was adequate for my kids schooling. It was light. LCD was clear. Sound was as good as can be expected at that price point.

Also good for watching or casting the occasional movie. Nine months in, I noticed that the charge connector (plastic part in the middle of the connector) was deteriorating. I found this odd because these connectors are typically designed to avoid interference that would cause the degradation that I was seeing.

This is a similar type of connector that is included on most android phones these days and I have never seen anything like this. Shortly after the unit stopped charging and eventually would no longer power on.

The manual indicated that the unit should power from either connector but even the good connector did not power the unit. I am not sure if it ever did. I contacted Asus support. The person I spoke with was very pleasant.

He was happy to take the unit back for evaluation but was quick to indicate that a damaged USB connector is not covered under warranty. I am sending it back today to see how much it will cost to fix this issue that seems like it should have been covered under warranty.

I am giving the product a rating of three because it worked well until it failed from what I would consider normal use. I am also guessing that my issue is isolated and does not happen on most units, but I have not read the other ratings to confirm.

If I had not issue, I would have given the unit a five. If you are going to buy this unit, I suggest getting the extended warranty or pay more for a non-budget Chromebook. I probably would not buy it again simply due to the poor quality charge connector.

This is the first time that I have ever purchased an Asus product. The price of the fix will determine whether or not I will ever buy another Asus product.

Perfect for school and researching. I wouldn’t use it as a personal computer as chromebooks in general aren’t good for being personal computers. The laptop physically is pretty nice. The frame seems solid and the keys are big and have a satisfying quiet click when you hit them.

Having no backlight for the keyboard is a downside but I guess you have to sacrifice some things for a budget laptop. The only downside ive seen so far is that when you put even the tiniest amount of pressure on the back of the screen, itll effect the actual screen itself.

This makes me think that the laptop wouldnt do good if something kinda heavy (like a full glass or a heavy book) it might damage the screen. Personally this hasnt happened to me yet though. I do believe the computer would definitely break if it was stepped on for whatever reason.

Overall the computer is really good for school. Something to have in mind though is that if you sign into it with your school account, your school basically owns that computer. They can look at and do whatever they want on it.

So i suggest if you get it to sign in using a personal account first and then add your school account to it. Your school would still be able to look at eve thing on that school account but at least the computer will still be “owned” by your personal account.

I’ve been using this ASUS Chromebook for a bit over a month while waiting for my high performance Dell laptop to be repaired. Walmart had it on sale for $199. 99 for a short while and I snagged it at that price in my local store.

This little computer has a nice size screen, along with good sound, microphone and camera. It’s been able to keep up with the wide range of computer activities I’ve been doing on my $1200 laptop. It’s not quite as convenient for reading PDF documents or for scanning, but it does the job adequately.

It’s also not as fast, but is certainly usable. I’ve even done a Zoom call. I usually have 3 -5 tabs open on my browser at all times, along with having a few other active programs. Although I don’t have Microsoft Office installed, I can read Office docs and edit them.

And of course Google’s apps are available as well. My Dropbox and Evernote files are all accessible and I am able to print to my Canon Color Laser printer as well as my Epson EcoTank printer. I can scan from the Canon and save to the ASUS and then upload to Evernote.

Not as convenient as using my Fujitsu Scanner to load docs into Evernote, but it’s ok in the short term. All in all, it seems I can do just about everything on this $200 Chromebook.

My Google Pixelbook just died in midstream four days ago, after not quite four years of service, and I ordered this replacement. After reading reviews, I chose it over the Lenovo with a non-Intel processor (which costs about almost $300 less, with tax).

There were two main reasons. First, I’m a lazy desktop cleaner and often have dozens of tabs open in separate windows. The Samsung’s Intel i3 processor and reviews praising its relative speed made me think I’d be better off with it.

Second, the Samsung has an all-metal case, as distinguished from the Lenovo’s part-fabric one. I often isopropyl my computer and peripherals for hygiene, especially in the Covid era, and I didn’t want to be saturating fabric.

The keyboard, touchscreen and trackpad were not big factors for me, as I use an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor (in extension mode) except when traveling. It took me less than 50 minutes to set this machine up, including removing my keyboard and mouse from my wife’s Mac, cleaning everything with isopropyl, and attaching my peripherals and all the dongles needed for them.

It was basically plug and play, as the Chrome OS did all the heavy lifting. It recognized my peripherals and external monitor immediately and even kept my two foreign languages in the shelf menu. But it didn’t transfer my oft-used Google Docs that I had pinned to the dock, or the changes to my modifier keys.

All my bookmarks, stored passwords and other stored data were ready to go. It won’t be this easy for those who are moving from Windows or Mac to Chrome for the first time. The Chrome OS and browser constitute a whole new system, with a distinct GUI and “feel.

” They take some getting used to. But I made transition when I was 73 and learned in time. The Google software is generally cleaner, simpler and faster than its Mac counterpart, but less graphically elegant and flexible.

Google’s software also has more trouble with text wrap and size scaling than the Mac’s. One reason I made the transition was to avoid the feature bloat and constant changes that Apple seems to impose on users.

But I still have my nine-year old Mac Mini at my own home. One hint for newbies to the Google Garden: since Google owns the search engine, it makes sure that instructions for Chromebooks and Pixelbooks are easily available.

For example, just search for “How to pin a Google gdoc to the shelf” and the AI will tell you. Or you can just use Google Assistant (“Hey, Google”) and ask it directly. The biggest problem is learning Google’s sometimes different terminology (e.

g. , “shelf” = “dock,” and “autofill” for passwords. ) It takes time but isn’t hard. I like having both a Google “laptop” and a Mac desktop for reliability, redundancy and security. These days, you never know when or where a software, hardware, or security vulnerability will crop up.

So I think it’s good to hedge your bets and use two completely different systems. I’ll try to remember to supplement this review if the processor is too slow to handle may lazy desktop management well.

But I can’t imagine any change going below four stars.

I have a love-hate relationship with laptops. Even when purchasing a brand new one, I came across software & performance issues at every turn. It was so frustrating that even though all I wanted to do was simple tasks like just browsing the web, attending zoom calls for school, etc, I was unable to.

And then I decided to get this Chromebook. Setting up the Chromebook took about 8 minutes, and a bulk of the time was just spent signing in and syncing my settings. The display is gorgeous and there is not a single time where anything is pixelated, out of focus, or distorted.

Browsing the web on this Chromebook is fast, customizable, and very efficient. I also love how you can customize your privacy settings for each website you visit very easily (which is just a Chrome feature, but still!) Tablet mode on this device works so smoothly and I cannot wait to purchase a stylus for it! Battery life on this device is just as promised–AMAZING.

It will last me a solid 9-10 hours, even with streaming movies or tv. The flip-able component of this laptop is great, and the hinges seem very durable. Perhaps my one-and-only complaint about this device is the fact that the speakers are located on the bottom of the device, which is not so good if you want to have it set up as a laptop.

The speakers are also not as loud as I would have liked. This Chromebook is perfect for someone who is just looking for something compact, simple, and reliable. You can also download apps from the Android app store ( Google Play Store) which is very cool!.

Another great new product in a long line of great products from samsung. I also like to think I am not bias. Having been in and around the tech industry for a couple decades now I do tend to be one of the crazy people upgrading devices evdry year or 2.

I have used and tried it all over the years. Yet i find myself constantly drawn back to samsung products these days. From my galaxy tab s7+, to my note 20+ phone, now also to a chromebook. Every product has shipped quickly and come in simple yet sleek boxing.

From opening it is easyqhy to setup and use. Made nicely and looks clean. Achieves all my needs with efficiency and offers more options than i can ever seem to keep up with using. Everything about this chromebook is top notch especially for its ptice point.

My only complaint is that i will miss having an hmdi out port as I like to plugin my laptop for our outdoor projector screen. Otherwise it does have a micro sd port, usb, headphone jack and uses the USB-C port to charge and offers an extra for other needs.

The touch screen works well, mouse is fluid, keypad reactive, ram sufficient, hardrive quick, processor enough, graphics good for casual use. This laptop would be great for a student or anyone looking to accomplish most needs.

For high end gaming and for the professional that uses a laptop for heavy and complex purposes maybe look at a higher model. For everything else this chromebook will satisty all your laptop needs.

I bought this today as I had left my ordinary recorder at the office. I regret spending $35. This is TERRIBLE. You cannot pause in dictation, which makes it useless for dictating business documents, letters, reviewing documents, etc.

The only file type is WMA, which my Mac won’t play. The machine is cheap, light, and flimsy. the WS-852 is far superior.

I I have owned Olympus products in the past with great results. Unfortunately, this did not happen this time. I found the instructions lacking and what instructions there were difficult to follow. I could not for the life of me figure out how to turn this recorder off.

I tried multiple times with no luck.

So far I love how it expands the capabilities of my Lumix S5, as most customers will tell you, but there are a couple of disappointments. One is that the 4K60fps shooting it allows is still cropped sensor — I can live with that, but somehow all the advertising and reviews I’d read prior to buying led me to assume I’d be able to shoot slow mo in full frame.

The other issue is that the only way to monitor ISO / SS / Aperture on the screen is by sending it from the camera’s display, causing all the display info to get baked into the footage unless I keep hiding it before hitting record.

One more caveat for anyone considering the Ninja V, is to maybe spring for the Atomos branded batteries even though they’re a lot pricier than the off brand ones. I got some Green Extreme ones and they’re a bit bulky and cumbersome.

I’m no stranger to premium Chromebooks. Over the past few years I’ve owned the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, the 1st gen Asus Flip CX5 and now this one. As some background as to why I enjoy premium chromebooks: I am a student, writer and a creative professional.

Meaning, I need something that I can type on for hours at a time and something that won’t annoy my eye that’s trained to pick out visual flaws such as pixelation or discoloration. Also being a gamer, Steam Link is a staple on all of my Chromebooks.

Rimworld isn’t going to play itself afterall. Coming from the Galaxy and last years CX5? This model is fine. The keyboard is comfy for my use and the screen while not the greatest I’ve used, isn’t terrible.

Compared to the previous year’s model, the sound on this one is noticeably lackluster, especially where bass is concerned. Mind you, I’m not looking for something that will shake the walls, but if Barry White is singing in his lows, I want to hear his chest and not just his nose.

Overall for a premium Chromebook, it’s fine. Great if you’re looking for a larger screen. Personally I don’t plan to hold onto this one for long since Google announced a new line of cloud gaming Chromebooks earlier this month which I’ll be checking out to potentially replace this one.

The build quality on this Chromebook is middling, especially coming from the aluminum Samsung Galaxy and last year’s CX5 that used higher quality plastics.

This is my first Chromebook and I spent weeks researching the best option for my needs/budget. While it’s not perfect, it’s pretty dang close for what I need it for. It’s fast, has great external esthetics, and even has a number pad which is so quite helpful.

The 360 degree hinge is a game changer and it has a VERY solid structure to it. I’ve never once been concerned of the hinge malfunctioning or any other structural issue. My ONLY hangup is the track pad.

If you’re light with the pressure you use with your finger, it’s not bad at all but, it’s sort of “tacky” and there seems to be a decent amount of friction which makes it not glide smooth. Again, if you’re very light with your touch, it’s great.

All in all I’d give this a 9. 5 out of 10 on the Vin-O’-Meter (I’m Vin). I use it every day for work and personal and am very very satisfied with it. Only other hangup would be the screen, at times, could benefit from being brighter.

Been using this now for a few days and I love it. Easily the nicest chromebook I’ve used/owned and I’ve owned a bunch. The one thing its missing is a fingerprint reader. Besides that, screen is great, backlit keyboard is great, ports are great.

Really enjoying using this thing so far.

I have to start by stating that this was my first ever chromebook which was my biggest hesitation as I was considering my next laptop. After about two weeks now and as I write this review I cannot stress how much I have been surprised and impressed by this machine.

First off the aesthetics are beyond anything else on the market. I get looks and questions almost daily from random folk on the bus or at the coffee shop about “what is that?” or “did you customize that?” The all white ceramic finish is just plain cool and the all black velvet insides are a classy contrast that gives it a sophisticated look that isn’t as over the top as something in bright red or funky blue.

The build itself is metal on the lid and hard plastic everywhere else. The ceramic coating extends all over the outsides to give it a really distinct and yet grippy feel to the touch. It feels solid in the hand and is well built through and through.

The full size keyboard is by far one the best I’ve ever used. It has what is called a velvet finish, which sure doesn’t feel like velvet but it feels very nice either way. The buttons have just the right amount of travel and clickyness while the large track pad is precise and smooth.

Also having a 15. 6″ screen allows for a full size 10 key number pad as well. Being a 2-in-1 design allows this bad boy to be used in multiple positions from standard laptop to tablet to tent etc. All of these come in super handy and the touchscreen works great.

I have found myself using it every which way depending on where I am and what I am doing although I have to admit using it as a tablet while laying in bed can be quite unwieldy if not borderline impossible, but that is a minimal trade off for such a huge screen.

Boy what a screen though. It is big and beautiful at 1080p resolution with colors that pop and sharp crisp images one of the aspects that was genuinely surprising to me. From daily work to movies and the occasional game I’m still impressed by how nice it is.

Another truly amazing aspect are the built in speakers. At least in my experience these harman kardon tuned speakers are the best I’ve ever heard on a laptop. Sure they aren’t as good or as loud as an external setup but for built in I doubt you can find better in this price range.

Finally to what really matters. Performance. For those of you that are techies like me you can go to rtings or chrome unboxed and see the actual performance stats and charts but for this review let me tell you without a doubt this beast is by far the fastest laptop I have ever used.

The stats will tell you that the Tiger Lake 11th gen i3 absolutely blows everything out of the water including 10th gen i5 and i7. What I can tell you is from web browsing to streaming to gaming to running up to 8 apps at once while streaming live radio I have yet to experience anything close to lag or stutter.

I mean it is shockingly fast! Battery life for me has been more than enough although I see many models out there claiming to get far more. Currently I am averaging between 6. 5 – 7 hrs which is far longer than I ever need to go without access to a plug for charging.

In fact I was just leaving it on for the family to fool around on it and watch movies etc for sake of testing. I cannot sit at a desk for more than 4hrs anyway without going crazy so its never going to be an issue for me.

If there are any downsides it is based on my personal view and may not even matter to most. Either way it is really nitpicking for the sake of not sounding biased. Really the big one is that although I just praised the look and feel of the ceramic white exterior and velvet black interior both are absolute dirt and grime magnets.

With an all white outside I guess one can expect that but even when I am fully aware of this and cautious about it I still find myself constantly having to wipe down fingerprints and random stains every night.

And even the slightest bit stands out like sore thumb. Surprisingly the same same goes for the inside. That nice comfy finish just sucks up oil from your fingers like crazy and worse yet then gets transferred to the screen.

Which means I always keep wet wipes and a microfiber cloth in my bag. Again this is by no means a deal breaker, but something that you should know before making your decision, like the kids aren’t going anywhere near this guy with those cheetos covered fingers lol.

All in all this has to be the most satisfied I have been with a new laptop in a long, long while. Highly recommended!.

I use this for work and college. Very fast, I usually have 7 tabs open everyday for work and for college and I’ll have Spotify running in the background. This laptop does not care it has no lag. The screen looks amazing and the touch screen is responsive and tablet mode works really well.

I really wish it had more then one USB port I have a gaming mouse in the usb and I use the right usb c to charge my phone and the left to charge the laptop. I have not tried running a usb hub yet though which could solve this issue.

The white color shows everything so be aware of that. The keyboard and mousepad will show even the littlest of grease from your hands I usually just use a baby wipe to wipe it off. The screen is a little dim but even under my bay lights which are 5000 lumens each the screen at max is just bright enough.

Now back to the 5000 lumens lights the screen has way to much glare if I don’t angle the screen just right I can’t see a thing. The thin bezel makes for a nice crisp screen look though. The keyboard feels so good to type on smooth fast and efficient.

The mousepad is perfect size responsive and also quite efficient. This laptop fits in my backpack perfectly so wether you just have a backpack or a laptop bag it will fit. I would highly suggest buying this laptop.

I can’t really tell you battery life for most of the time I have it plugged in I think at max brightness the max I’ve see is 7 hours on a full charge.

I would like to say 0 out of five stars for how many issues this laptop has given my friend in the last year. I would like to thank the associate (sarcasm) who helped me with this transaction her exact words were “I have no idea about laptops” when I asked for help and there was no one available to help either.

I was told this laptop was simple to use and that it uses chrome and the google applications to work. I purchaised this as a gift. The laptop not being a year old and the fan is so loud its kind of distracting and disruptive in certain locations.

While I do know that laptops are delicate they should take a few accidental light drops, this laptop after it was accidentally knocked down the coffee table received a scratch on the shell, and a few months later the screen had issues.

I loved Asus because the Zenbook had been durable with a few accidental knocks, and it lasted me more than 6 years after my siser handed it down to me before it began to have processing and charging issues.

After this chromebook which I got for my friend since Asus lasted me a while began to show issues with hardware, I dont see myself buying another Asus. I don’t even know if the laptop not turning on whle updating is suppose to be a good thing or not.

There’s also the weird noise that comes from the laptop.

My boyfriend spent over a thousand dollars on this after all fees and extra costs were included and it’s one of our biggest regrets with buying tech. When I first started using it, it would ask to restart every other day, refusing to connect to the wi-fi unless I restarted it.

It’s been five months and we’re at the point were the laptop asks to restart several times a day, refusing to connect to wi-fi until it restarts. These are not requests for updates either. There are no viruses or any bugs affecting my laptop.

We’ve made sure all drivers and ports are squared away. This is an HP doing what classic HP does. I was so excited to get out of having a Chromebook, another HP product that is famously known for always needing to restart as well, and here I am, with the same HP problem.

My experience with HP the past ten years has been like sticking with a cheap car brand, because it’s affordable you buy it, but after you own it, you realize why it’s so terribly mediocre. To note, I do not use this laptop to its full potential.

Plenty of memory still left on it, I mostly browse the internet and send some emails, no streaming or uploading of any kind. I’m too scared to venture into using this model for the reason I bought it – the drawing tablet HP was so proud to create for this model – because I just know I will be entirely disappointed.

Why? Because the laptop already regularly loses my webpages and emails as I’m using them, there’s no telling when it wants to restart, but once it wants to, anything using the internet is cut off and not retrievable after the restart.

I can’t imagine creating a work of art or just even having a little fun doodling, only for the laptop to decide it wants to restart and lose everything. I DO NOT recommend this product from HP. I am so verily disappointed.

The sales tech at Best Buy was so firm in his pitch to buy this product and we are so sad we listened. We should have gotten out of the HP brand when we had the chance. I’m going to Office Space this garbage HP Envy – it’s that terrible.

For the price, it has good features and potential. The 1080p, matte screen that doesn’t reflect every light in a 5 mile radius alone is a rare find at this price point. That potential is held back somewhat by the typical pre-installed garbage software strangling the anemic 4gb of ram.

I was less than impressed by the out-of-the-box experience. Edge constantly hanged and stopped responding on web pages, updates were slow, and I could barely go 30 seconds without some HP popup obnoxiously offering tips or offers for trial software and services.

So much for Windows 10 S mode being “speedy”. After feeling like I punished myself enough, I unscrewed the bottom of the case (after offering my deepest and most sincere contempt for the engineer that hid additional screws underneath the rubber grip feet, watch out for those), popped in another stick of RAM, and installed a clean, generic copy of windows from a USB drive.

Difference is night and day. After just a $20 4gb stick of RAM and a clean install, this system SOARS. Buttery smooth web browsing with dozens of tabs open, windows updates install quickly, and multitasking with multiple programs is easily possible with the 4 core, 8 thread processor once it isn’t starved for memory.

But if popping open the laptop sounds like scary, intimidating work or you don’t have a geek to do it for you, keep on shopping. This laptop needs some DIY work put into it to really shine, if you want something that just runs great out of the box, look for something else with at least 8gb of ram and a solid state drive of decent capacity.

This is my first Chromebook and my first HP laptop. I have prior experience using Windows, IOS, and Linux. Overall, I am impressed with both the Chromebook OS and this HP laptop for the purpose in which I purchased this device.

The Laptop The laptop build quality was much better than I expected. It feels sturdy and the keyboard and touch pad have a nice feel. I really like the spruce blue color. The screen quality is very good and has vivid brightness levels.

Performance is good. Overall, there is more than enough processing power for browsing but keep in mind, this is not a gaming laptop. The only minor issue I have encountered is the speaker quality and volume levels could be a little better.

Chrome OS If you spend most of your time in a web browser, the Chrome OS is a good choice. If you don’t mind using Google Docs, Google Sheets and the other Google office software then Chrome OS will serve you well.

I am a MS 365 user and discovered that I can only use the web versions of Word and Excel. I have also learned that some of the Android apps on the Google Play store will not run on a Chromebook. Summary I purchased this as my “couch browser” and it is working well for that purpose.

I needed a slightly larger screen than my iPad due to my diminishing eyesight and the larger screen is working better for me at an economical price. I wouldn’t use this as a primary business laptop or gaming device.

This is my first Chromebook, and I love almost everything about it. 1. The speed is lightening fast 2. It is extremely easy to use. I set it up & played around with it for a couple of hours, and learned a ton about the ins & outs of the Chromebook.

3. A big ‘Yay’, on the lack of useless bloatware that is so common on Windows systems. 4. The touch screen and mouse pad are both very responsive. 5. The screen is crystal clear, and I absolutely LOVE the night time blue light filter.

It is so much more pronounced than similar filters on any of my other devices. It really helps with eye strain, and you can use it during the day if you want as well. If I think of any more positives as I use it more, I will add updates.

And now, for the one glaring flaw that kept me from giving five stars; The keyboard could be much better, visually. The keys are light, and so are the letters. There is not much contrast at all, so the letters/numbers are really hard to see.

Luckily, I’ve been typing for so long that I can get by. But it’d be much easier if I could see the letters without straining! Since I love everything else about it though, I will happily keep it. I am good about updating my reviews, so if I run into any more pros or cons I will be sure to edit this.

Amazing product and Amazing service as well as customer support. I just walked in and love how helpful best buy staff was. This Chromebook is worth the money. I use it for all my business endeavors and it’s amazing.

Asus premium Chromebook will not let you down and if you can I would buy the protection plan as well since your investing into a piece of hardware that can change your life. All the features are amazing and if your worried about space then you can insert a sd card for extra storage and/or plug in a external hard drive so added storage as well as purchase even more cloud storage as well.

I love that it’s touch screen and that you can flip it and use it like a tablet. I have already started setup for my affiliate marketing and have setup for all my future investments like stock and crypto as well as have a ledger and what’s also amazing is that it stores all your super complicated passwords so that you can log into with ease so you can go ahead and make that super hard password while making easy to instantly log back into.

Guess what I only had it for a day and already have some much setup and ready to go in no time.

Was looking for a laptop that was less than 400$ and had decent specs and there weren’t many window laptops within that range so I started to look into Chromebooks and saw they fit what I was looking for however I was a little wary at first, especially because of the 4gb of RAM.

But after trying it out my wariness went away and found it could handle whatever I threw at it and it’s fast as well especially booting up is quick to. I was mostly just looking for laptop that I could use when I was out in the living room watching tv or playing a game since my PC is in my room and so I don’t have to use my phone then.

I tend to open alot of tabs and multiple apps but this doesn’t budge at all, no signs of slowing down at all so far, even after I had 10 tabs open and spotify running and discord and a few others all at once.

Am quite impressed with chromebooks now after buying this. However I don’t really like the file manager thing that much right now, I hope they change it in a future update and I wish they’d put a native calendar on here to instead of me having to download a calendar app.

But other then those 2 things, this thing is awesome you wont regret buying this! Just make sure you buy a USB C dongle that has more usb ports since it comes with 2 USB C ports and 1 USB A port.

This laptop replaced a rock solid Dell Chromebook that I bought 4 years ago which now has keys that only work intermittently. I wanted something light enough for travel, yet solid enough to last. I’ve had this chromebook about a month now.

They keys and the trackpad are great! The sound is loud enough, but not quite as clear as my old Dell. Like others, I have had to turn the backlight OFF during the day or you cant read the letters. Black keys, or at least DARK grey would help.

But, I do appreciate the backlight when using the keyboard at night. I generally use this for e-mail, web surfing etc. , so no real ‘challenging applications. Glad I could get device that meets my needs for $299.

I bought this to test it’s utility and durability. It came a week before we were taking a vacation at Black Water Falls. Our cabin had wifi so it was a no-brainer. Of course, my Bride was using it and left it on the outside picnic table.

It rained for an hour. Shook it off, wiped it off, and it drove on. Since I’ve gotten it, it’s been dropped. It’s been splashed on. It has been in the hands of dozens of teenagers. It looks perfect and runs flawlessly.

Are you going to play PubG? No. Is it a student or teacher workhorse? Heck yeah. The touch screen and stylus as well as the convertible design makes it a great tool for an economics teacher.

I got this chromebook as a gift almost a year ago. The first week it was good, however from the second week or so going forward, the chromebook had extreme lag spikes every 20 or so seconds. Also the battery would drain super fast when I would use it.

It would say I have 4 hours of battery left, but then I would use it for around an hour. I would use it for playing games from time to time, however that made the quality worse, on some basic games, including web browser games, there would be lag spikes every 10 seconds.

Lastly, it gets damaged very easily, the screen completely cracked when it was out in the sun for about 40 minutes.

Quite happy with the 300e so far. Great display, love the 360degree rotation, keyboard is comfortable and the touchpad is perfectly placed so that it doesn’t interfere when I’m typing. It’s fast. I use this primarily for work, with multiple windows and tabs open in GSuite, with spreadsheets etc, and have not experienced any lag so far.

Runs android apps and games pretty smoothly. Love the USB-C to charge. Speakers are on the bottom and pretty quiet and low quality, so if you’re going to be using this for music, you’ll want a bluetooth speaker.

The biggest problem I’m now noticing is the touchscreen, which occasionally just stops responding. It’s especially frustrating when watching video in tent mode and not being able to stop or pause without rotating back into laptop mode.
