*if this review was helpful please mark it as helpful* The only reason that this item wasn t given a 5 star rating is because it didn t included the solution needed for installation. Most other brands include it in their kits.
You can make your own solution with distilled water and a tiny hint of the regular blue dish detergent in a spray bottle. My background on installing wet screen protectors dates back 25 years. So if you re new to this don t expect to get it correct on your 1st try.
There s 2 types of wet screen protectors the PET stiffer version that s just like a regular screen protector for your phone or this healing version that s thinner and harder to install. It up to you which version you want.
For the watches I recommend this thinner version as the others will snag and the corners will eventually lift. On to the installation of this screen protector. The 1st thing I always do is find a room in the house that has no air moving around to prevent dust or debris getting stuck under the protector.
The 2nd step is to carefully cut the sheet of protectors into individual pieces. The 3rd step I do is wipe the watch display with rubbing alcohol and then the microfiber cloth. After wiping with the microfiber cloth I use scotch tape and cover the display to pick up the lint from the cloth and to protect from dust or lint in the air.
For the 4th step I wash my hands with soap and water and rinse off all the soap but I leave my hands wet. The 5th step I remove the tape on the display and spray the display with the solution. The 6th step is to spray your fingers and the screen protector with the solution.
More solution is better it my get messy but you won t waste a screen protector. After you sprayed the protector gently peel at a corner. Once the corner starts to separate from the backing spray your fingers and the protector making sure to get the solution in between the backing and the protector.
The 7th step I spray off the solution that I had sitting on the watch display. Making sure my hands, protector and display is covered in the solution I apply the protector onto the display. Do not immediately squeeze out the solution.
Align the protector to your liking. When I install the watch protector it depends on what way the user is wearing the watch. I ll move the protector either a little more up or down so that they don t catch the edge when they swipe.
8th step is to gently squeeze out the water from the center out. It s important that you keep a finger on the protector to make sure you don t pull it off the display. At this point it s not important that the sides or sticking to the display.
Your main objective is to get most of the solution out. If you close the sides you ll have a harder time getting the solution out and you may stretch the protector. 9th step. When you re satisfied that you got most of the solution out that you can it s time to close the sides.
I put the watch in the palm of my hand and cup it with my other and and apply slight pressure. That should keep the sides down and allow you to push out the remaining solution from the sides. If it still wants to lift cup it with your hands again and squeeze out the water after.
10th step is optional. I do this because most people want their watch back in use asap. I grab my wife s hairdryer and blow warm air on the watch and then cup it in my hands. If you can t keep your hands under the blow dryer then it means it s too hot and you need to turn it down.
I ll do this multiple times until I m satisfied that the sides won t lift. After I do this step I let it sit without touching it for 2hrs. If there s nothing lifting after 2hrs it s ok to be used. If there is lifting I just repeat step 10.
In conclusion This installation was done on a 41mm watch 7. I always do the installation with no bands on the watch as it allows for more maneuverability. I have fat fingers so if I can do it anyone can.
You can use regular tap water to make your solution but you may get some haze from the mineral deposits after everything dries out. I live in Hawaii and we have the clearest softest water and occasionally I will get a haze.
So for the past 15 years I ve been using distilled water and never had a haze since. (There s multiple uses for distilled water so don t think you re wasting money buying a gallon just for a screen protector) Take your time and don t get frustrated.
You always are given extras just in case you make a mistake. It may not look like the greatest after you install it but it needs time to dry out and level out. The dimples and imperfections in the protector will disappear.
The pictures in my review show 1 the full sheet of protectors. 2nd the protectors cut into a sheet of 2. 3rd shows a cut single protector. 4th shows a 41mm series 7 that s going to receive the protector.
5th shows the completed installation of the protector and the 6th picture shows what it looks like after it s all dried out and leveled. The 6th picture was taken 24hrs later. You can t tell that there s a protector on the watch.
