I was super excited when I got my imageFORMULA RS40 photo and document scanner. I love pictures and sharing them with family and friends online but in order to share photos that are in my trunk of saved memories I would have to take a picture of the picture which is just not the same! The size of the scanner is perfect! Not large that takes too much room and not tiny.

It was easy to get it set up and the software was really easy to install as well. It comes with a cloth to wipe your pics free of dust and also a carrier sheet to use on smaller photos ect. When it came time to use the software though it seemed really slow but could be my computer? I started off trying to scan a very old photo from 1973 using the carrier sheet and no matter what I did it came up with a double feed error and still have not been able to figure that out so very bummed about that.

Using regular photos works great along with documents. The quality of photos is okay but not perfect after uploading. You can have a lot of pictures or documents in the feeder which makes scanning photos and documents way easier than doing it one by one! I am super excited about being able to scan receipts as well to save on my computer.

I also like the One Touch Buttons for frequently used settings. If the scanner was wireless it would be even better. Overall it is a really great way to get those memories onto the computer to save, organize documents and so much more.

For a very long time, I have been worried about being able to keep photos of my family going back to 1900! Along with birth and death certificates of so many people I love. It is compact and sets up so easily with a booklet that helps you quickly get up and running.

It scans several items at once and you can clearly see the results as they are processed. Can you imagine being able to scan 30 items a minute? Another thing I really like is that both sides of the images are scanned.

This would make a great wedding gift or on the birth of your first child or grandchild. No more clutter. my various documents are clean and placed in special folders. Literally 75 years or more photos and documents are now tucked away, in perfect condition.

This is a review for the Epson FastFoto that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Right out of the box this machine was smaller than I expected yet it is very sturdy. Although it can hold large size photo’s the footprint of the machine is very small.

The only exception is the output tray which does extend out and kind of upwards. This tray takes up a bit more room but I learned very quickly that you do want the tray fully extended when you are scanning photo’s (think of a catchers mitt).

I have been a fan of Epson printers and have had one for the past several years with no issues (Artisian), and have been extremely happy with the printer. So, I was greatly excited that Epson has produced such a great and time saving photo scanner.

It was easy to unpack and set up on a side table I have in my craft room. It was important to follow the set up instructions as you need to download the software before you connect it to your computer.

Once downloaded and connected it is pretty simple to use. The scanner started right up and my 2nd surprise was after putting a stack of 15 4×6″ photos and selecting the scan function from the software; it went to work.

I mean it scanned the stack of photos so fast that they shot out because I didn’t realize I had to fully extend the exit tray. Quick lesson learned. The scanner scanned those photos so fast and I was immediate gratification and they idea that the giant box of family photos I haven’t been able to share could now be scanned so easily.

I’m kind of the novice photographer and I always share photos I’ve taken with family and friends. However, that can take a lot of time. Well, not anymore. The first set of photo’s I scanned I was immediately able to upload and share on Facebook.

The older photo’s from the 1970’s that I scanned all had an orange hue to them. After scanning the software auto corrected the photos and they really looked amazing. Not as good as maybe the best photo shop features but pretty darn good considering they scanned in seconds.

The older photo’s really did get restored to a much better quality. Note, it can not improve the amount of pixels in older photo’s so they may not be as clear (due to older cameras having lower Mega Pixels) but compared to the original; much improved.

If you have ever tried scanning older photos 1 at a time, you know how time consuming it is. This will cut the time down by like 75%. Keep in mind the photo’s that you stack (you can scan 30 at one time) have to be the same size.

If different sizes you should scan separately and their are carriage sheets included to scan those fragile photo’s. My plan is to gather all my like size photo’s (out of my BOX ‘O PHOTOS) and get to work on scanning them all in.

I am also seriously thinking of buying a 6TB external hard drive because I have a lot of photo’s. This product gets two thumbs up from me and a genuine gasp of excitement for a product I have been waiting years for!.

I can say how amazed I was when I heard about this product that was going to be released. I have over 120,000 photos from way before digital days. I have had photos since way back in the 70’s. Some of the photos were very old and delicate.

I was afraid to put them in the scanner but then I saw that the scanner came with a protective sleeve for some photos that are brittle, or damaged. It allows you to slip the photo into the sleeve, and then load it into the scanner, without any further damage to the photo, to me that is a nice addition.

I would also like to say that I have never seen a scanner that works so quickly. The time it took to scan multiple photos all at once and be able to auto correct the photos where I did not have to reopen the photos and edit changes because this time the auto correct feature actually was so smart that it knew what to fix and I was super satisfied about the way the results of it turned out.

Yes people would say and think that the price may be pricey but to be able to multiple scan tons of photos and be able to put the most fragile delicate photos in a sleeve and then load it into the scanner to scan without impacting the photo is well worth it all to be able to cherish memories and turn them into digital to show to everyone and upload to Facebook and to email and send to family members and generations of relatives that once could not have had access to the photos.

The unit comes packaged very nice and I really like the layout and design of the scanner physically itself and the easy interface that the software provides. I highly recommend this to everyone who has tons of photos that would like to turn digital.

Also what really caught my attention was how Epson thought to care about the customers in mind with old delicate photos and provided the sleeve option. I was quite surprised when I found out this option and had to try it out for myself and I was extremely surprised and so super happy with the results the sleeve and scanner provided.

Also besides photos you can scan documents at a fast rate also. If anyone is in the market or was wondering what to do with very delicate photos that they do not want to get ruined then please look into this Epson scanner machine and I promise you that you will not be one bit disappointed.

The Epson FastFoto 640 is the best scanner for archiving your pictures to your hard drive. The initial installation and configuration for the scanner was as simple as downloading the software, installing the software and driver, and plugging the scanner into the computer.

The computer recognized the device right away and I was able to start scanning and saving pictures and documents to my computer. Loading photographs to the scanner was a breeze, I was able to take a stack of 30 at a time, and I was able to scan roughly 120 photos from various albums and start sharing them on social media in under 10 or so minutes without any issues.

This by far is the speediest scanner that I have ever used. In addition, the Epson FastFoto 640 also scans documents and saves them as PDFs. With the Epson scanner, you are able to scan both sides of your pictures, which is nice if you have descriptions, dates or other information on the back of your photos.

In addition, the software allows you to fix minor problems with your photos such as redeye, brightness, color, saturation and will enhance the colors of faded pictures. You are able to have the enhancements or edits performed on the pictures and have the original saved with no edits done.

The included carrier sheet is a pleasant addition to use on fragile or delicate items, just place the photo or photos within the carrier sheet and you are able to scan and save without damaging the originals.

My overall experience with the Epson FastFoto 640 was positive, the scanner is speedy and accurate, and I have not experienced jams when scanning a stack of photos. The scanning software is very good for scanning and saving, but the smart photo fix is okay if you do not have any photo editing software.

Every small business and home office needs the Raven Scanner Pro! I’m just average at technology and the Raven Scanner Pro was taken out of the box, set up completely, and running in under 10 minutes! The compact footprint is great but don’t let the size fool you.

This machine is a giant! It connected seamlessly with my WiFi but also comes with an Ethernet cord, if needed. You can have the scanned document(s) sent directly to any email address, faxed, or posted to Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Quickbooks, USB, and other destinations.

There are options to choose the DPI quality from 200 to 600, color/B&W/grayscale, and sides. The adjustable paper tray will accept even a 3”x5” photo. I didn’t have anything smaller to test but the photo scan was beautiful.

What a great way to preserve and share memories. As an initial scan test, I put in a two sided document. I no sooner hit the scan icon than the paper shot out like a cannon with both sides completed in color.

Within seconds it appeared in my email inbox. Raven thoughtfully included a self-inking rubber stamp to provide an organized way to mark and date the scanned document. Thanks to Raven, I’m actually looking forward to tax season! It will be a breeze so prepare for our accountant.

There is a lot to like about this scanner. Setup was fast and you do need to connect it to your wifi or the unit will stop on network and not continue. I tried to scan documents to a USB Thumb Drive and without a network connection you cannot do that.

The good news is that connecting is easy and the scanner updated right away. I also linked to my Dropbox account which requires you to log in to the Raven Scanner website to complete. How much space does it take up? The unit is heavy/solid, very nice graphic user interface that feels like real class.

Width: 12 and 1/2 inches Height with the document loader extended: 8 and 3/4 inches. Front to back without the document loader on: 8 inches. Front to back with the document loader on: 13 inches. Extremely quiet! Scanning documents is fast, as in the paper passes through quickly, but it caches the data and continues to write the files well after the pages go through.

FAST – the scanned pages go through as fast as dropping a sheet onto the table. I was impressed by the DETAIL when using the 600 dpi setting. Scan your artwork or sketches in high detail. It’s a top quality unit that I absolutely would recommend! GO PAPERLESS.

Raven has created a really great scanner. My father passed away recently and this scanner has been such a help to me forwarding documents to my lawyer and all the other entities one deals with when someone passes.

I love the options on how you want your double sided pages to come through, if you want to leave them right side up and scan or if you scan them upside down you can send them right side up, you can choose to send them in color, black and white or grayscale.

You can adjust the quality of the photos and documents and there are options right on the screen to email, fax, send to the cloud etc. Everything is touch screen right on the scanner, great screen, clear, easy to read and select your choices.

The pages scan quick too, really quick so be ready because they will come through faster then old scanners. Very fast processing time from scan to recieved email. Pretty compact scanner, very light weight, extremely easy installation and instructions, its literally just a couple cords to plug in and the touch screen guides you through the rest.

In the pictures I included, you will see the instruction sheet I scanned through in black and white, and the next picture is the screen shot of what it looked like on my email.

I have been working virtually for six years now both at my main job as well as a notary and scanning paperwork has become one of the many tedious tasks I have been making do with a flatbed scanner on.

Now I have a chance to try the imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner from Canon and I’m like “where have you been all these years!”. This little piece of office hardware has become an immediate god send to me in my work with it’s double sided scanning and it’s FAST 40ppm scan speed in low resolution and slower yet still zippy speed at high resolution.

That said lets dive in! Packaging/In the Box – The scanner was well packaged with cardboard blocks in multiple levels locking it into place. The contents were easily removed and well placed to locate.

In the box you will find the manual and paperwork, top paper guide, USB cable, adapter and cord, and the unit itself. Assembly consisted of simply removing the protective bags, the protective foam inserts and shipping tape and an easy to miss orange guard where the paper inserts at the top, MAKE SURE to get this out before use.

Snap on the upper paper guide and you are ready to plug it in and get going on the installation to your computer. Installation/Setup – Install was a breeze with windows 11 preview and I am sure it will be as well with windows 10 and mac.

Install the software and you are up and running. Really there is not much to tell here as, with pretty much any newer plug and play peripherals they install fast and all that’s ever really left is straightforward bundled software installs.

Use – The imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner is as easy to use as just inserting the documents and pushing the start button but as I use it I find that it also ignores blank pages AND correctly rotates upside down sheets!!!! This is a game changer from my perspective with all the paperwork I handle on a regular basis! All this and I still haven’t gotten into OCR but from my understanding it has that capability as well! My Final thoughts on the Canon imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner is that it is a game changer for me and I think ANYONE that has been using flatbed scanners or even the all in one printer scanners for their home office scanning.

Used this Canon R40 scanner on my Windows computer. The software they offer is easy to use and configure, and it’s very flexible. Didn’t take a lot of hassle to get it up and running which is a plus for some people because there are not so tech savvy people who still just doesn’t get things! I was able to set up a document link to DevonTHINK, and with one touch on the scanner, it scanned images and pipe them directly into my DevonTHINK Inbox.

Images are clear and great quality , and the issues I had with my other scanner feeding multiple pages and jamming (constantly) hasn’t happened yet on the R40. It has multiple settings that you can adjust to twerk your document just how you would like and the speed it scan the documents at you can get loads of paperwork scanned in just a short amount of time It even aligned the page for me itself!So Win Win for me ! This scanner easily scans just about everything imaginable including business cards, plastic cards, post cards, receipts, you name it! The Canon Image Formula R40 brings scanning to a whole new level as you can scan up to 60 sheets into various folders, emails, applications and drives of varying sizes, weight and the documents can even be inserted upside down and even better blank sheets are skipped during the scanning process.

Scanned documents can be saved in a myriad of files such as PDF, JPG, BMP, PNG, PPTX and TIFF. As an added bonus the scanner does single pass double-sided scanning. I have been successful at scanning my documents and storing them in easy to find folders on my computer eliminating a desk and file full of various receipts and documents used in my home.

Tax time will be so much easier this year. My goal has always been to have my home office organized and this scanner does it all so easily. Directions are easy to follow for installation and this scanner well replaced my old scanner.

Every office needs such an efficient easy to use scanner! My only wish is that the scanner was wifi enabled and a bit more compact as it does take a bit of desk space. This scanner is OS, Windows and Mac compatible.

This machine cut my heavy workload of copying many documents into seconds to copy. It does so easily by scanning everything (both sides) in seconds. Just insert all the paperwork into the machine, press scan and it does the rest.

It saves everything by creating a pdf file that contains everything scanned. You can save it to the desktop or to a particular file folder if you wish. No more sore back for me using my old copier that was tedious and time consuming.

I have had a number of scanners over the years (Xerox, Epson, etc. ) and this unit is really terrific. It is quiet, scans quickly, is small, includes duplex (two sided) scanning, and it’s automatic mode handles most cases (color selection, removal of blank pages).

You can reprogram the touch screen to set up custom buttons (a black & white, one sided scan, for example). The documentation is non-existent and you must rely on trial-and-error and web searches to figure things out.

For example, if you look at the photo of this product you will be under the mistaken impression that you place your documents facing you. This is not the case. Documents are placed facing the tray. In the past couple of days I have scanned about 1000 pages of old files and quickly created flawless PDF files.

It handles all shapes and sizes of paper even without the dedicated receipt holder. While the hardware scans fast, the software speed is very much dependent on your computer hardware since that is where it is running.

The scanner includes a license for Nuance KofaxPower PDF software from 2019. The software is full featured and is helpful if you don’t have Adobe Acrobat Professional for editing PDF files. Also included is a version of ABBYY OCR software.

A high quality scanner (Fujitsu is a quality brand) that is well worth the price especially when on sale for around $400.

The Canon R50 desktop scanner is a very robust, easy to use scanner. Packaged well and easy to get setup and ready to go. The instructions were short and to the point. I like that I didn’t have to read a book to get this setup.

I have setup and worked with a LOT of desktop scanners of various brands and this is by far the easiest scanner I have ever configured. Navigate to site included in instructions, download software, install, power on, select interface and you are ready to scan.

I elected for the WIFI option as this is the most convenient option. However, the USB option was equally as easy to use if needed. The software walks you through the wireless setup as well as the large touch screen on the device.

The CaptureOnTouchv4 software was very intuitive and easy to use out of the box with a couple preconfigured single/double sided options. A visible edit button allows you to edit the default options or you can quickly add a new button option.

New button option offers a custom option or you can copy the built in options. The quick edit settings allow for most of the basic options you would need as far as single/double, DPI, skew correction and automatic detection options.

There is an advanced section that has more options than I have ever needed when scanning documents. If you expand the left hand pane, you can adjust the output options such as scan to email, cloud drive options, local storage, and plenty more.

This scanner is very fast on the 200dpi settings and you can really churn through a lot of documents with the 60 page capacity. Even the 600dpi setting is faster than I expected it to be. Overall, this is a fantastic product that offers a great setup experience, large touchscreen, and plenty of features.

So I got my imageFormula R60 Office Document Scanner in and it’s super easy to set up and use. I was able to on my own so if that tells you anything. I will say the speed this product scans is unreal.

I put in 17 documents and within 10 seconds it scanned them all and had them pulled up and clear in the Capture Ontouch program on my desktop and stores it in its own file that you can rename and save anywhere.

Create your own shortcuts within the program for different file types and folder location which is super handy so your not dragging and trying to locate each file you scan. Also allows you to one click scan from your program for quicker efficiency.

It does have two types of scan options, one sided/double sided scan. Touchscreen display for easy navigation to settings and much more. This scanner is just the right size for anyone who wants to have a product that doesn’t take up much office space.

I use it for personal documents and or work scanning. It’s easy to install with either WiFi or the usb. I like both options. WiFi is convenient for if you want to work in other areas and not have to use the usb for close range for those who work on the go.

This Image scanner is by far the quickest scanner I own and have seen In such a small product. Truly outranks the bigger scanners by miles in my option. Recommend this ImageFORMULA R50 for anyone who wants a small document scanner that doesn’t take up much room and scans super fast.

I own my own business and I struggle to keep up with all the paperwork – not to mention how much room it takes up! I was impressed with what this document scanner offered, but was pretty intimidated at the same time because I am not too computer savvy.

First of all, this scanner is pretty small considering what all it does- it easily fits on my office counter with room to spare, which is great. It looks slick and fits in nicely. Everything that is needed comes in the box- AC adapter, USB cord, power cable as well as the setup guide.

The setup guide was amazing for me- it was easy to read and covers everything you could image. If I can set this bad boy up, anyone can! You literally just plug the scanner in, download the software, load your documents and voila’- you are done! Easy peasy! Paper documents are loaded in the top and can be aligned to fit your specific size paper if needed- you can even upload business cards! Everything scans quickly and ends up in the eject tray below and uploaded to your computer.

Genius I love this scanner and I am so thankful to have found this for my business! I love the size, quality and ease of use- I have completely uploaded all of my business documents in just a few days – when I had extra time.

I did extensive research into whether or not to get a printer/scanner combo, or to keep my printer as a stand-alone and get a separate scanner. I am very glad I chose the latter; this is a superb document scanner.

Other brands don’t do automatic OCR. This scanner does the OCR when you scan it, so it doesn’t become a laborious extra step after you’ve scanned the document. It’s very easy to set up the scanner to upload the scans directly to Google Drive, which is one of the primary places where I save my documents.

It has a number of customizable destinations that you can program and tap with a button, like specific settings and destinations for receipts, or other settings one might want for a particular type of document.

The white version is pretty and has a fold-over cover that stores easily into a cabinet when not in use. This is certainly the scanner to get.

The Epson WorkForce ES-400 II Duplex Desktop Document Scanner is my new favorite desktop accessory. An accessory, that takes up very little space (6. 9 inches in height, 6. 6 inches in width when closed) on my desk, but completes a lot of productivity in my daily home office tasks.

After carefully unboxing my new scanner, I thoroughly read the enclosed illustrated start up leaflet. I immediately noted that it stated, “DO NOT PLUG IN USB CORD UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO”. (Except it was not in bold lettering.

I would make a suggestion to the company to do so, or highlight that important instruction). It was very easy to set up this wired scanner, using the supplied USB-A to USB-B cable. I then downloaded the software from Epson’s website, via the internet.

It can handle projects that I create for teaching preschoolers, or even scanning records and receipts into my small business files. It’s a fifty-sheet auto document feeder is lightning fast, and is able to scan up to 35 ppm, from business card sized up to 240 inches, while automatically detecting and capturing both sides of each sheet in one pass.

It’s built “double decker” style, where as, the pages to be scanned, are loaded at the top, then pass through the scanner, and come to rest, in the paper tray below. It resembles a printer in that manner, which is a huge improvement over having to lay pages or photos down, one at a time, on a flatbed or all-in-one style scanner.

I found it exciting that this can be paired with an Epson flatbed scanner for scanning my photos or thicker materials, with the optional flatbed dock The included Epson ScanSmart Software2 is intuitive feature allows me to choose, preview, adjust, enhance, email and upload color scans, and make and corrections or adjustments desired before saving it to a searchable pdf file, or one of several cloud storage accounts.

The image correction features such as auto crop, dirt detection, staple protection and paper-skew correction, give me quality scans with less bother. I’m currently working on scanning my grandmother’s handwritten recipes into files and these features have really come in handy with this project since the original documents are not in pristine condition.

First impressions: The unboxing of the scanner was straightforward and simple. The product along with accessories were easy to remove from the box, and everything was out and plugged into the wall within minutes.

The scanner is a nice modern, black color design that does not take up much footprint when in the closed position. Even with the rear feed tray and front trays extended, it does not take up an absurdly large amount of space.

Setup & Usage: The device is supports both USB 3. 0 and WiFi capabilities. The Epson ScanSmart utility can be downloaded from the product support page. Software installation itself was simple, however, configuring the WiFi settings on the scanner was much more involved and not easy at all for the average user.

The software did not automatically detect the scanner in order to connect to it to apply the AP settings of my own network. Multiple attempts were made, but the ScanSmart setup utility refused to discover the printer.

I had to connect the scanner with a USB 3. 0 cable, install Epson NetConfig utility, and push my wireless settings to the scanner that way in order for it to connect to my home network. This is definitely not what an average home user would think of to do, and most likely will be calling up support very quickly.

The ScanSmart installer boats about WPS as an option to connect with WiFi-Direct, but WPS is a dated authentication technology with security vulnerabilities and should not be included on the device in the first place.

Scanning documents itself is fast and straightforward – just make sure you orient your documents correctly in the rear feed tray; documents go in with the front side and top being facing down. The scanner processes multi-page documents very quickly, with double sided capture working like a charm.

ScanSmart was able to sense the sizes of my documents and receipts with ease, ranging from standard 8. 5 x 11 letter size paper to long store receipts resembling the ones you get at CVS. The scanning software also allows you to choose a variety of document format outputs other than PDF after scanning, which is very convenient if you are scanning a picture vs.

scanning text only documents. I would like to highlight the duplex functionality of the printer, which saves so much time compared to non-duplex scanners. The speed at which the scanner processes double sided documents is quite quick, with the limitation being how fast your computer and the Epson software can process the scans.

As mentioned previously, make sure you insert the front side of your double sided page face down, otherwise, the page order will be scanned and processed in reverse. This is not an issue for a single page of double sided content as it can be easily corrected in a PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat, but if you are scanning stack of documents, it is less than ideal to have everything the wrong direction.

Scan Quality: Being primarily a document scanner, the quality has been flawless on all my receipts and standard documents, with clear text that was easily processed by OCR and made editable in Adobe Acrobat.

For color image scans, the color resolution and tones are slightly lacking, but for the most part, get the job done. Granted, this was not designed for scanning and digitizing photographs and artwork so if you are looking for a scanner that preserves image coloring with minimal tweaks to the software, I suggest looking elsewhere for something better suited for the job.

See pictures for examples of quality. For the time that I have used the machine for its intended designed purpose, it has outperformed the previous scanners that I have owned. I hope that the device continues to perform well into its service life, producing speedy, quality scans.

I have not needed to contact customer service for any reason other than looking at the support website for troubleshooting the Wireless Setup process. I give this product an unbiased, 4/5 stars so far based off these experiences.

This is a review for the Epson ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I wanted a simple chip scanner, so I (and my friends) can help get dogs back to their owners quickly-now that the dog warden/pound services are changing. it would be particularily ideal if you lived in a rural, holiday area like Cumbria, where it would require some effort to get a found dog to a vets/pound for scanning.

it is very simple to set up – even for a technophobe like me. it is lightweight and would be easy to fit in to a haversack. I did set up the extra system on my laptop that alerts me if the dog has been missing/stolen-and went through the proceedures as instructed-HOWEVER.

I do not know if I have done it correctly as there does not seem to be any way of checking – until I actually scan a dog on this scheme? it obviously only shows the chip number-so I keep a list in the box, stating a chip finder company’s number, and a pen and spare notepad etc-as obviously to be caught out without these means you will be struggling to hold the stray dog, remember the chip number, make calls, hold your own dog etc.

after reading the chip number, you then have to find out which company the chip is with (via a chip finder company, see on line), you then have to ring that company who will then get in touch with the owner themselves-they will NOT give you the details (re;confidentiality)-so it is not a quick answer-all the more important that people keep a collar and tag on their dogs – as is required by law.

if the chip details aren’t up to date, you are then stuck with the dog, of course, but at least it gives you a starting point.

i joined a cat rescue group as a volunteer, and appreciate it when i find affordable cat items. this is my second unit, easy to set up (go to their website to download basic app), charges via mini-B cable (included).

picks up number fast, but make sure unit is no more than 6″ from the cat and run slowly over back. supposedly doesn’t read encrypted chips, but i’ve had absolutely no issues so far. very happy with purchase.

I bought my unit used “as-is”. I knew they were built like tanks. Mine powered up but wouldn’t feed the paper without pushing on the paper. The pickup rollers are a wear item that Fujitsu recommends replacing every 200,000 sheets.

Mine only had 36,000 sheets on the counter. I used a couple of treatments with CaiKleen RBR Liquid, Oiler Dispenser Concentrate 25 mL – RBR100L-25C rubber rejuvenator on the rollers. This fixed the feed problem and it has been running like a champ ever since.

I’ve setup my own custom scan profiles in the ScanSnap Home software. Most documents I scan directly to Evernote. I have the profiles setup to create searchable pdf files, which works well. I have another profile to scan spiral bound books (unbind before feeding of course).

This thing processes an amazing amount of paper in a short amount of time. I’ve been able to digitize a lot of my paper work and de-clutter my life. This is a two-sided page scanner, in that it scans both sides of the paper at the same time, which makes it fast.

It might take a little bit to initially get everything setup and configured. You will need the USB cable for initial setup. After you configure the wireless you can disconnect the USB cable. If you have a stack of paper, fan the paper to unstick the edges for better feeding.

If you need to scan more than 50 pages into one document, select “Continuous Mode” in the profile, then put in 50 pages at time. The software will then pause in between loading stacks, and will automatically combine all of the stacks into one document.

The software has a paper jam sense, so if there is a misfeed it will display the last page it reliably scanned, and it will allow you to feed from where it left off (start with page after the last reliably scanned page).

This is a nice feature, in that you don’t have to restart the entire document for a misfeed. When not in use, it compactly closes up to a small desktop footprint.

Workhorse, small, fast, portable scanner. No longer produced it’s replacement doesn’t get as good ratings and doesn’t look as cool. Wireless and usb. Has built in ASIC microchips that process OCR reduces load on PC and relies less on software to do the job increadibly fast.

Built primarily for page documents scans both sides at once. Requires special clear carrier envelope for small receipts , id cards, or photos. Usually not included when you buy it used. Sometimes you get lucky as it’s a $35 specialty item.

The scanner is expensive but sometimes you get what you pay for.

The only reason I replaced my otherwise perfectly good Fujitsu S1500 with the ix500 is the S1500 needed Adobe Acrobat Standard to scan directly to PDF and my current version, XI, is the last one to not be subscription and cloud based and will reach EOL in October (I refuse to use cloud based programs for security reasons and because, in the long run a subscription based program usually winds up costing more; also, Adobe’s customer service has degenerated).

However, I’m disappointed with Nuance Power PDF. It took several days to register it because their website was down and apparently they took off for the four day holiday weekend. The pop up for activation kept reporting it was unable to connect with their server for several days.

It also took several days to create an account to open a case on their website. Based on what I’ve seen by using the 15 day trial version (Why only 15 days? The website says the trial is 30 days), Nuance Power PDF isn’t as versatile as Adobe Acrobat Standard and the GUI is a bit obtuse.

Fujitsu could have picked a much better program to replace Acrobat. An even better solution would have been to not have provided a PDF program to go with this scanner and instead provided a list of compatible PDF creation programs one could choose to buy or a way to link to one’s preferred program.

I feel the Nuance Nuisance is a waste of my money and space on my computer since I’m going to have to buy a second license to be able to use this scanner on my notebook as well as on my desktop computer.

I’m also going to have to buy a better program to replace Acrobat for PDF creation and editing. Another problem with Power PDF is, when setting it up, it will make itself the default program for various programs such as browsers, MS Word, etc.

That can be prevented during setup but the settings to prevent it is buried in the setup menu and is not very obvious. I had to uninstall, then reinstall Power PDF to restore my original defaults. I had no trouble getting my S1500 set up and running but setting up the ix500 drove me nuts.

The directions were vague as to what needed installing and the set up pop ups were often a minute or two apart. The pop up for registering the ix500 didn’t even include the ix500 in the dropdown list.

I never was able to find where to register it from within Fujitsu’s poorly designed website and its useless search engine. I finally found it by plugging “register ix500” into my search engine and got a hit for Fujitsu’s product registration page.

Response from their tech help took several days because they also took the four day holiday weekend off (must be nice; I wish I had a dollar for every holiday weekend I worked). Since I went directly to Fujitsu’s website’s product registration page, I kept getting annoying popups to register the scanner.

Fujitsu said to go to Programs and Features and uninstall Fujitsu Register. If it wasn’t for Fujitsu’s poor choice of PDF program, their lousy set up instructions, their obtuse website, and poor support, I would have given this five stars.

I like the ability to restore color to faded slides and photos. I took me awhile to get used to the steps to follow go through preview and final scanning. Flexability with scanner below for prints and documents and scanner in lid for film negatives (I have many B&W negatives from the 1930s and 1940s that I haven’t been able to view) and slides makes this very versatile.

Converting medium format negatives to positives is a very big plus. I purchased this to scan my vast collection of slides and convert them to digital format on my computer for convenient storage and sharing.

I haven’t been able to find the best way to utilize the upper limits of resolution available for maximum detail and minimizing compression. What I’m asking of the scanner seems too much because I get warniings that file size is too large to complete the process.

But most of my scanning is very good without the very exact resolutionI thought I would need. I understand the scanner can only do so much with a poor quality picture or slide. Flatbed scanner like this is desireable because dust can be easily removed from glass bed unlike the less expensive ones that rely on sliding film through a slot.

PROS: – Fantastic quality – Great (optional) digital enhancements CONS: – Relatively slow, 3 photos/2 minutes or so DETAILS: Scanner came in perfect condition, worked as intended. Scanning quality was fantastic, only downside is that the software is rather dated and takes a bit of time getting used to.

Scanned around 3000 photos and 300 slides on it without issues, averaging around 3 printed photos every two minutes and 4 slides per 3 minutes or so. Would recommend scanning in the professional mode with no digital “enhancements” for originals and a separate copy with auto-exposure, digital ICE, and occasionally color restoration for special photos.

Digital ICE seems to be the only enhancement that greatly slows down the scanning speed, but it’s incredible how well the software restored some of my old slides: I’m confident that this scanner is by far the best at this price point for a high quality digitization project.

Excellent entry level scanner. If you use Windows 10 be sure to go to the Epson site and get the updated drivers and software. If you take the time to master the software you can get professional results.

The bundled scanning software is very good, if you want to spend a few bucks, then you might want to check out Vuescan. The included photo editor is good but a little dated and not on the par with Photoshop or Thr Gimp.

The deciding factor for me was the medium format film capabilities, since I have a lot of medium format negatives that I shot back in the 70s & 80s. If you don’t need to scan negatives and slides, then get a simpler scanner.

Fujitsu are the best scanners on the market. You can never go wrong buying one. Almost never jams, never grabs 2 pages at once, and all around a great workhorse. I scan at least 3000 pages a month and it never fails.

My previous model Fi4340c was used over 16 years with no problems. It was taking too much space on my desk so i am exchanging it for more compact Fi-6130Z. This one came almost “new” looking. Looks great and the best of all, it scans anything you throw in it, anything from thin receipts to thick credit cards.

Would recommend it to any body who does serious scanning.

Fantastic service! Easy instructions. Quick, easy, first time setup. Loved the friendly “how to’s” and courteous attention by the company even though I did not have to use them. Their friendly instructions and demeanor made you comfortable in knowing that if you did have to use them they were there.

The scanner looked brand new and practically is since all rollers, etc. have been replaced. Wish all companies and products were handled this way. Thank you so much!.

fast little scanner does front, back or both sides via toggle. Use ISIS drivers for the ScandAllPro software. The twain 64 drivers don’t work with it. In the scanpro software goto options and deselect twain and choose isis driver then it will populate the scanner list.

Use Twain 32 drivers for other programs that use scanners. They work in windows 10.

We have been using the Snap Scans for years. But we really needed a heavy-duty machine. This works GREAT! It really works very quickly and we can load it up with lots of papers to scan in at one time.

It is really a great performer. We might be buying a second one in the future. Everyone in the office is wanting to use this scanner or all our other ones.

I’ve had this scanner about three months so far and have put maybe a couple of hundred sheets through it. I bought it because I have a couple of file drawers full of stuff I want to scan and then toss the originals.

This scanner goes through the pages really quickly and produces nice images. I had an older Fujitsu scanner several years ago, but this one is much faster. I’ve set up my usual scan types on the LCD on the scanner, but they can also be selected directly in PaperStream.

I like the options in PaperStream, it just seems needlessly complex to get everything set up right for each mode. The more I use it, the more I like it. Also this scanner works great with VueScan, which I highly recommend.

So far I have tested this device by scanning a photo and then by scanning a negative. The result in both instances was beautiful. The device will enable me to efficiently digitize my voluminous collection of photos and negatives.

Now that I am retired, I have the time to finally commence this long-delayed and sentimental project.

I have noticed that a lot of this Scanner model is available second hand on Ebay – Having bought one I think I now know why. Firstly, the Scanner is superb and reproduces extremely high quality images, yes that’s true.

However the sotfware that comes with it is lacking usability and does not have anything like the capabilities of my old Cannon Conoscan 4200F. I think Cannon needs to urgently review it’s software packages.

Why make available a super high quality product but fail so misserably on the software???.

1200 bits/inch is higher resolution than my old photos and negatives have. The driver and software were difficult to find/download but that is the fault of Canon.

This is a review for the Epson DS-770 II Color Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Let me start off by saying that this is a great scanner for quickly scanning a lot of documents.

My main use was going through boxes of family photos to convert to digital. At first I was expecting it to take atleast 10 minutes to scan 4 or 5 photos at 600dpi but it was much much quicker than that.

Auto feeding worked flawlessly except for one issue. But removing the jam was very easy and my document was not bent or anything. The auto document size detection also worked 90 percent of the time, even on extremely small photos and Polaroids.

My main issues don?t really lie with the product itself though. Setup was kind of a pain, especially with installing drivers. When it came time to connect the scanner to the computer via cable, the instillation program would not want to detect that the scanner was connected.

It took me three times to download the installer for it to work. On another note, I do wish that the scanning program would give an estimate on how much time was remaining until the batch scan was done.

Other than that, I would say that this product is very much worth the cost and can be applicable in many situations.

This is a great scanner for home office or small/medium businesses. It’s compact, fast, and produces excellent scans. The USB connection is fast and simple but I chose connect the scanner to my network so that I could share it with multiple computers.

Setup was a breeze, I connected the scanner to an open port on my router and the driver software installed easily and found the scanner on the network. I have run about 600 pages through the scanner and it has not had any problems.

No jams or misfeeds and the double-sided scanning is very handy. I did not have any problems with image bleed-through on double-sided scans which I have had with other scanners in the past. I have scanned a variety of documents including contracts with signatures and some with images or notes written on them and the scanner & software handled them all just fine.

I also sent some business cards through and they fed through without a problem even though you’re supposed to use a sleeve for small items. The Document Capture Pro software does a good job of setting up jobs and presets with the shortcut buttons on the scanner.

The shortcuts are handy for scanning directly to a folder on your computer, saving directly to DropBox, etc. The OCR works well to produce searchable PDF files. You can make adjustments in the software to rotate pages, fix skew, add/remove pages, etc.

If you need advanced post-processing you might prefer the Epson Scan 2 software or a 3rd-party software as this scanner will work with any standard scanning software, but Document Capture Pro does a very good job for most needs.

The fit and finish is very good and the scanner feels like it’s built well. It’s meant to be a workhorse and from what I’ve seen it should deliver on that promise. This is a review for the Epson DS-730N Network Color Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Epson’s DS-730N Network Color Document Scanner is an amazingly fast duplex color scanner that takes up very little space. The unit measures ~9 x 9 x 12 inches plus paper feed and catch. The attached picture includes a coffee cup to show you comparative size.

On my Windows 10 PC, the primary user interface is Epson’s Document Capture Pro. If you have any other Epson devices that support scanning then you probably already have this program loaded. You use the software to run “jobs” such as scan single sided color to jpeg, save in a particular folder, and send an email to advise when the job is complete or another “job” to scan duplex in black and white, create a PDF, and save to Google Drive.

As you create each “job” type, it can be named for future use. The scanner also has physical numbered programmable buttons on the front that must be programmed via browser login as admin. Connecting the scanner to my network was as simple as cabling it to my router using the cable supplied, determining the IP address assigned, and going to that IP address from my PC.

I then went to the IP address from my browser, created an admin login, and assigned a couple of the buttons. Having done that, I found that while creating “jobs” in Document Capture Pro is an easier option for a single user, configured physical buttons may work better in a multiuser scenario.

So what about performance? Wow! At 300 DPI, the machine took about a second to scan each double-sided page, up to 100 mixed sized pages per batch, after which Document Capture Pro handled the output.

600 DPI took about 5 seconds per double-sided page. Colors are vibrant with no obvious imperfections. While there are many positive things to say, there are also a few cons. I wish the scanner had a wireless option.

The 2m USB cable provided just isn’t long enough everyone’s needs nor is LAN always the optimum configuration. Also, the scanner ships without software, so you will need to download what you need from Epson’s Support site.

I’d recommend downloading everything. While the unit is supported on both Windows and Mac machines, there is no obvious support for Linux environments. And finally, the paper catch is built such that scanned pages can sometimes make a jumbled mess after feeding through the scanner, so you may need to test various length and end-catch configurations to avoid same.

Bottom line is the DS-730N is capable machine that provides value for the money in homes or offices with large scanning needs. This is a review for the Epson DS-730N Network Color Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

This review is for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document Scanner. This document scanner is a compact high-volume scanner with excellent performance and quality results. The scanner has performed very well and the initial setup was simple.

It is important to note that the scanner does not come with any media in the packaging for the installation so the instructions do require you to download the software from Epson’s support website. Once you have begun the installation it takes all but a matter of minutes depending on your internet download speed.

The installation of the software and drivers is rather simple which includes a installation wizard that will guide you through the process. During the installation of the software you will be prompted to connect the scanner via USB and once connected the program will auto-detect the scanner for first time use.

The scanner packaging is simple and compact. The packaging includes the WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner, Auto-document Feeder Tray (ADF), 5FT SuperSpeed USB 3. 0 cable, and AC adapter with power cable.

The packaging also includes the basic “Start Here” documentation which provides the initial setup instructions to follow. While using this scanner I was very impressed with the ease of use and the speed at which it can produce high quality scans.

I tested the performance of the scanners ability and it exceeded my expectations. I have not personally owned a scanner with this kind of performance before. This little scanner is a speed demon and I was able to scan 20 pages of documentation in less than 20 seconds.

The ScanSmart software is user friendly and allows you to adjust the scanned documents with ease including rotating & cropping. The included TWAIN driver provides excellent compatibility with numerous software applications including but not limited to Scan to Email function, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive.

You of course have the ability to save the scanned images directly to your local hard drive in industry standard file type formats such as PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and BMP. Overall I am impressed with this document scanner and the included software.

Its super easy to use and because of its small size (Width 11”, Depth 8”, Height 9”) it does not take up a bunch of work space on your desk. The printer is also fairly light, weighing in at 7. 8lbs (without AC Adapter/cord).

I did also try to scan some color photos and it worked just as good with the photos as it did with the text documents. The quality of the resolution on the images is superb and they look great. After using this scanner I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a scanner that is fast and produces high quality images.

This Epson DS-865 is blazing fast and the OCR results are among the best I’ve seen. I’ve used many different model scanners at work and this model competes with more expensive models in those terms of performance.

It scans at over 60 pages per minute (double that if double-sided) and has a high duty cycle rating of 7,000 page a day, these two specs would make this an ideal workhorse for businesses. The feeder holds up to 100 pages and is flexible in use.

This model has TWAIN support which allows you the ability to use other scanning software if you chose to. I tested the TWAIN support with 3rd party scanning software and it worked well with no problems.

But when it came to OCR accuracy the Epson software with it’s built-in OCR support or integration could not be beat so I stuck with using the bundled Epson ScanSmart software. The OCR from the Epson software was much quicker as well.

Image quality is very good and resolution maxes out at 1200dpi. The Epson SmartScan software is straightforward and easy to use, but it is a bit light on advanced features and settings. The software could be a bit more robust with easier/quicker access to scan quality settings.

It has buttons to allow for attachment to email, uploads to cloud hosts like Google drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Evernote, Print, and saving to MS Office file formats. The Invoice/Receipt Management features unfortunately requires a paid one-time upgrade.

Unfortunately this model is missing network connectivity, there is no Ethernet or Wi-Fi support. This limits the versatility of the scanner and forces you to place it at a desk next to a desktop or laptop.

I would’ve liked to bring it into the living room and spend an afternoon scanning mail and documents in front of the TV. In the office it could’ve have been set up near the front reception counter to quickly scan documents from clients.

Since there is no network connectivity, there is no scan to smartphone or tablet support. Another negative is the lack of support for user-defined jobs through the scanner menu and interface. I’ve used scanners in the past where you could set up pre-defined locations and folders to scan to and with different scan settings accessible from the scanner itself and I feel that is an important feature for businesses.

There is no “One-touch” scanning either which several competitors offer. When you press the SCAN button on this scanner it starts up the Epson Scansmart software on the connected PC and you have to continue the scanning process there, there is no way to set a default save location and have files automatically named and saved without PC intervention.

Scanning at the very minimum requires 3 button presses or clicks; Scan button on the scanner, click on “Save” in scanning software to bring up the Save screen, then another click on “Save” to save the file.

This was a disappointment after using other brands and models that offer that time-saving feature. The build quality of the scanner is solid with good quality rigid plastics with minimal flex and good fit of components.

The rollers and other consumable parts have an estimated lifetime of 200,000 scans and replacement parts are available. The footprint is small and compact and that helps with placement and positioning on the desk.

The feeder and output trays are versatile and easy to manipulate for different paper sizes. I’ve scanned a few hundred pages a day so far without a hiccup or paper jam, the high volume reliability is impressive.

The existing features and functionality may be adequate and enough for typical home users or less demanding offices with straightforward scan jobs, but this excellent hardware would really benefit from software updates that add features to improve ease of use, versatility, and one touch scanning that advanced users want.

If you do not need more advanced features and customization and only need a fast, accurate, and reliable scanner that does it’s job then this model would be great and recommended. The excellent OCR accuracy and fast scanning speeds certainly make this a terrific scanner for most users.
