I absolutely love this scanner. I love the portability and lightweight design overall. It’s fantastic for use on the go or working in multiple locations. I am thrilled at what this little machine can do! I like that it has a 20 page feed and can scan both sides of whatever you need at the same time, and both in color and black and white.

There is no installation to anything which makes things much simpler, with the software built right into the machine. It has a USB type of plug if you need to hook into a laptop of desktop. It has an actual tray as well instead of a feed to place your documents or cards and you scan them into any file format that is best for your needs.

For it to be lightweight, it was built with quality in mind and is super durable. No components that will break easily or come apart when moving it from place to place. Having a printer with a feed has been impossible to use scanning card types for my business but this has been a lifesaver and a huge investment in my small business.

For mobile jobs without a home base, this is exactly what you need!.

This is a great portable scanner for families or business people on the go. It connects right to your computer through the USB port which Carrie’s the data and power. No other wires needed. Plug it in and you are ready to scan.

Works on a pc or a Mac but not on chrome books or other operating systems. No extra software is needed. The built in Canon software is pretty cool in that it can automatically align all the pages in a job in the same direction.

There is an adjustable feeder that holds up to 20 pages. It supports business cards, plastic coated cards and paper up to legal size. One or two sided scanning is easy to use and quality is up to 600 DPI, which is the same as my multi-function printer.

It does up to 12 ppm for black and white which is reasonable for such a portable unit. All in all this is an easy to use scanner which will satisfy personal users needs very well while being extremely portable.

I bought the scanner about 2 months ago. It worked great, very convenient, easy to use and scans very fast. Love the fact that the software lets you have several pages kept in a single file. Unfortunately, Windows did a Security Update that has totally messed up communication with the Scanner Software.

I have uninstalled the Security update 3 times now, when I uninstall it the scanner works wonderful. Then the Windows automatic update that you can’t seem to turn off, runs again and the scanner will not work.

This is not necessarily a Epson problem, Microsoft has messed it up. Would be nice if the problem could be resolved. I like my scanner and would like to have use of it again.

I have been using this scanner from my Android phone. It took a lot of effort to get it set up originally, and worse, it’s not like you just set it up once and forget it, but you actually have to reconnect to it as a resource in your WiFi settings every time you use it.

And it turns off before the system can find it, sometimes, so you have to start all over, etc. etc. All that effort might even be worth it for the portability and small form factor, which are nice features; but the resulting scans are really terrible as well.

They come out skewed (at an angle off of straight) and cut off at the top and bottom. I bought this about 5 months ago and have used it a handful of times, and every time was just a very poor experience.

I forgot that I spent so much on it and frankly I’m appalled at how crappy the product is for the price.

First thing I noticed about this Brother ADS1200 scanner is how fast it is. From the time you press the button to the moment document is scanned and saved to your USB stick or computer, it is about 56 seconds.

And it does scan both sides of the document at the same time and saves it neatly into pdf but you need to have in mind you need to place documents upside down and back to front, not as pictured on the product images.

If you place document facing you the way it shows on the product images it will be scanned upside down. There is no mention of the scanning method in the instructions booklet, but this is something easy to figure out by trial and error method.

If you are getting Brother ADS1200 there are only two scanning options to the USB stick or to the computer via USB 3. 0. Sadly, scanning to the computer via the network with the Brother ADS1200 is not available.

Scanning to the USB stick is super easy, no set up is required. The only minus for me is the fact the USB plug socket is on the back of the scanner so I have to lift it and move around every time in order to connectdisconnect the USB stick, which is a bit annoying.

I would prefer the socket to be on the front. Scanning to the computer via USB 3. 0. is a brilliant idea as the scanner can be also powered with this connection so this would be very handy if you need to take the scanner to the library or another place away from home or office but First of all, the USB 3.

0. cable is not provided, you need to have your own that will be long enough to connect the scanner to the computer. And if you find the right cable, setting up for the scanner to see your computer is not that easy either.

As soon as I connected the scanner Windows asked me to add a new scanner, it went all smoothly but for some reason, the scanner does not seem to see my computer and when I press scan to computer button it does blink for a while but then it stops and nothing happens.

It could be the cable fault so I need to get a new USB 3. 0. cable to check if that was the issue. Until then I will have to scan to the USB stick. On the positive note, the scanner is very compact, great for travel, especially with the USB 3.

This is my initial experience after a couple of days of use. I researched various portable scanners, including the Fujitsu Scansnap s1300i, and the Canon formula p215ii, before choosing this one. Most reviews placed these above the Brother, both in terms of scan speed, bundled OCR, size, and quality of photo scanning.

However, I selected this one in the end for price and wireless ability. My use case is scanning personal documents for archiving, and I have to say I have been very pleased with the device. I dont scan images, so am not bothered that this may not be the best of the crop for this purpose.

Set up on a windows 10 computer involves downloading and installing the appropriate software from the Brother website, as the disc that comes in the packaging will be out of date. It was easy to find on the website one of the better presented websites I have seen and I chose the full software suite, which downloaded and installed relatively painlessly.

You have to plug in the USB at one point, and restart your computer, but apart from that, I was soon up and running. I had read reviews that scanning over wireless slowed down performance, but at 300×300 colour, I found the wireless scanning speed perfectly acceptable, if not quicker than I had been led to expect, and I have not at any time felt impatient with it.

The scanning software is easy to use and has a lot of features. You have to learn some of the settings, but I get the feeling most things are there. For instance, after some looking, I found that you have to use the custom option and select continuous scanning if you want to add separate scans to the same cumulative PDF file, but once done it was fine.

For paper in decent condition I have found the scanner does not jam, although alignment can be a little off if the paper is not inserted exactly square to the scanner. This is not however a problem, just a fact of using a compact scanner you as the user have to be more diligent in setting up the document to scan.

I have not yet tested the OCR quality. Overall, it feels like a professional piece of equipment.

I needed a page scanner to digitize too many paper documents. The online reviews and price point convinced me to give this machine a shot. I have been blown away how well this scanner works. Setup was extremely easy and the ability to create saved workflows was an unexpected pleasure.

The scanning speed when plugged to AC power in is very fast with no misfeeds. I use the usb power when scanning just a few pages and the scanning speed is acceptable. My one complaint are the paper guides.

They have a tendency to fold back on themselves when inserting paper so I end up spending a little more time getting the documents lined up. Overall, I highly recommended this scanner.

I had the ES-300W for 3 years until it died after very minimal and gentle use. It still looks brand new in every respect. (which is also lame and made me not want to use Epson again). But they gave me a bit of a discount and still seem to be the best show in town so I’m giving them another try.

I got the DS-320 because it seemed to be identical to the ES-300 except for features I didn’t need. However, it was MUCH slower. Probably 4x slower. AND, it failed to load paper effectively from the very first try–pulling in multiple sheets, jamming, etc.

That’s basically what completely broke my ES-300 as well. I realized that the paper feeding mechanism on these little guys is just kind of pathetic. It doesn’t work well from the beginning and, at least in my case, doesn’t last very long.

I guessed that the feeding on the bigger 400 series was totally different and better so I returned the DS-320 and got that one. Fortunately it was on sale so the price was comparable, but even if it cost more, what’s the point in saving some money if the device just doesn’t work or you have to fiddle with it all the time.

But so far the ES-400 is really working well.

It folds up small and is easy to hide away or take with you, if needed. Set up was easy. Works great, so far. My only issue is that the cord to connect to the computer is SUPER short. I need to order another cord because I am using this scanner at work with a desk top computer, not a laptop.

Since it has to connect to the computer, it is under my desk and I am not able to put it on my desk because the cord doesn’t reach.

Just bought this and used it on a business trip with my XCarbon Thinkpad and File Center software and it worked like a dream. Went through stacks of case files without an error and quite fast. While a bit heavy I would still highly recommend this small scanner.

At home I continue to use it for small jobs to supplement my larger capacity units.

Purchased yesterday, scanned about 50 pages thus far and very pleased. Needed something immediately and it was in stock at my local store However, for a couple dollars more, you can get the WiFi enabled ES-300W which I think also has a battery.

If I understand correctly, you can charge the 300 and use it completely wirelessly. That said, this scanner blows away my old Fujitsu in speed. At 25 pages a minute (I haven’t timed it, but I believe it) it is pretty quick and the scans are accurate.

I am going to return this and get the ES-300W only because of the wireless capability. And the lack of a 5th star is specifically for that reason. I would be very satisfied with this otherwise, and have no hesitation recommending it.

I bought this less than a month ago, and out of the box it was great. Scanned tons. A week or so later, wanted to scan more (touching and changing NOTHING in between) and suddenly the PC and scanner are not communicating.

I spent tons of time looking for Epson support (HAHA The jokes on me- easier to find a flock of unicorns). Finally this morning, I uninstalled everything EPSON (including the other all in one that works fine), scanned and defragged my drive, and reinstalled everything new again.

If it messes up again, though, it will be out of warranty – not that Epson makes it easy to find them either way. If I was paid minimum wage for the hours I spent fixing this thing, I’d be owed a couple of hundred more from Epson than what I paid for this.

I bought this a few weeks ago to take to my elderly dad’s apartment to scan sensitive documents he didn’t want out of his sight. The scanner is nice and compact so it’s not like you need an entirely separate table or desk to put it on.

It set up quickly and as per the directions. I appreciate that the scanner can work extremely quickly (I had literally dozens of documents to scan) but also that it allows you to adjust the setting for something like an original photograph or something with a photo attached.

The quality was surprisingly high. Less so for scanning photocopies of photos – came out very dark, but that wasn’t surprising. It was a solid purchase and Best Buy had it on sale!.

This is my 2nd registration of the 530 model, as I have updated a second computer and moved to Windows 11 software. This unit is really a flawless operating scanner. Actually, I also purchased the 580 unit which is located at our Vacation home in FL.

This scanner has made my life simple with filing and paper handling. I have literally move to paperless files and documents. THANK YOU.

I got the Epson DS-530 for my financial services practice. Love the double sided scanning and this is very durable, rarely jams and when it does, it is my fault – usually a staple, It is so easy to use and efficient, that I purchased another for my home office.

At home we use it to scan all bills and personal documents and even some photos.

Not quite what I expected for the price. Very difficult to install/set up. I ended up calling Customer Service for help. they were great!! Scanning is clunky at best: if you want to preview the document, you have run it through the scanner, then if you like what you see, you have to run the document back through the scanner to officially scan it.

To scan documents you put them in upside down and backwards!!!!!! Very awkward to me. You can pre-adjust the rotation for upside down, that way you don’t have to put the doc in upside down. yea weird.

There are 3 steps to scanning: select file name-save, click a button to select file-save, then once that’s all saved you go in and scan. I was use to a one step scanner. It only lasted a year and I thought I’d try something else.

If it was easy to return, I would. It does pull the paper through really fast and that’s nice.

This was much needed as I am a traveling notary signing agent and there are times I need to scan and upload documents immediately after. I previously was using the Epson ES-580W prior to receiving the ES-300WR as a back up.

The downside to using the ES-580W is that it is not portable, meaning that I would always have to use a power inverter if I wanted to use it in my car. Also I would have to carry my MacBook w/ me to be able to scan because I would have to connect using the provided wire that came w/ the scanner.

So when I received the es-300WR I was excited to see how small and compact it is compared to the es-580W. Also, the main feature why I got it is because of portability! I love the fact it runs on a battery and the charge lasts a little while before it needs a new charge.

Best of all, I don’t need to connect my MacBook and just scan using my phone! Pros: size, wireless, battery life, fast scanning. It fits in my notary bag so I can take it everywhere and anytime Cons: connecting my phone to it was a pain to configure and both will need to be connected to the same wifi in order to use my phone.

I have a mobile hotspot in my car. Overall, I love this scanner and super happy w/ my purchase!.

I loved the features and software of this product until they pushed out an update that ‘bricked’ a perfectly fine machine. Guess what out of warranty! Their updated bricked their equipment at my expense.

SO silly me I bought another but this one doesn’t have the blue scan button work. I have to initiate all scans from my computer. It would be nice to have had some consideration in my favor. So, the best I can do is share my pleasant experience with all of you fine folks.

Bottom Line: The Epson WorkForce ES-300WR delivers near-desktop quality scanning in a compact, portable format. Pros: Fast ADF duplex document scanning, easy card and receipt scanning, convenient physical switches and buttons, cloud service integration Cons: Doesn’t quite deliver a “post-PC” experience, scans are often off-center, concerns about long-term durability Review: I still receive a lot of paper (work documents, mail, receipts, etc.

) during the day, but I’ve found that neither desktop scanning or mobile app scanning (i. e. , taking pictures) are particularly convenient. In short, desktop scanning doesn’t match my modern, mobile workflow (I do a good amount of work on an iPad Pro) and app scanning is too slow/cumbersome for more than a page or two.

As a result, I tend to end up with a big pile of documents that need to scanned sitting on my desk, so I was very excited to integrate portable scanning into my regular workflow. Mobile setup was pretty simple.

There’s a connection switch on the side of the unit, which allows you to set the scanner to wired (USB), WiFi, or AP mode (AP created a WiFi hotspot to directly connect you device to the scanner). The SSID/PW are printed on a sticker on the unit, so directly connecting my iPad Pro was a breeze.

Once the app was installed, I was able to select my scanner and begin my scanning session. The mobile app is pretty basic. You can scan documents or review your files that are saved in the app, which can then be easily exported to storage, email, etc.

via the share tab. The scan menu gives your basic options such as changing the dpi, single or duplex scanning, and the ability to ignore blank pages. Duplex scanning was fast from the ADF, which is one of the flagship features of this device.

It’s definitely on par with the speed of desktop scanners, which is fantastic in a mobile unit. The scanner is fairly compact, weighing in at just under 3 pounds. You can charge the unit’s battery with the the included AC adapter or USB cable, which the instructions say should take around 3 hours for a full charge over AC or USB 3.

5”. Additionally, the scanner is still very much a connected device, relying on either a computer or mobile device to work. It would have been great if the scanner had some onboard memory, so you could scan and save documents to the unit and download them to your device later.

I do, however, have two minor issues. First, my scans are often – ever so slightly – off center. This can be corrected by being very careful with paper loading, but if you’re just casually placing a stack in the scanner, my scans tend to be a little crooked.

It’s not a huge deal, but it is annoying. Second, the latch that holds the ADF in place when the unit is closed is held by a flimsy piece of gray plastic. Whenever I pick the unit up (I tend to place my hand around the center of the unit), I feel like the ADF is going to break loose, which makes me nervous about its long term durability.

I am using this to scan old magazines, and it does an excellent job and very good quality scans. It is fairly fast, and scans both sides of the sheet at the same time, making scanning two sided documents even faster.

And you can put a stack of papers into the feeder and just let it run. Well, mostly. When doing very thin paper like in magazines, if you put too many papers in the input hopper, it will often mis-feed and jam.

I have gotten around this by putting in fewer, and slowly adding more as the scan proceeds, which works great. The software that comes with it is the weakest point here. When the unit jams, it closes the current scan document and waits for you to un-jam and “continue” by starting a new scan.

Merging the two files is now your problem, which I found no easy solution for. Annoying if you need a single page document. Also, the software does not help you know which was the last page scanned correctly, and pressing the “clear/stop” button immediately passes all the remaining pages to the outlet tray.

Basically, re-stack and start all over. This could have been greatly improved. But the scanner does a good job, you can quickly find workarounds to jammed jobs.

The good: I went from a flatbed scanner that was bought for Win95, so this is pretty much a “lap of luxury” product in comparison. As far as straightforward scanning, it’s pretty good – rarely jams, doesn’t miss pages, and decently fast.

The kinda-bad: The variety of options in the software are nice but there are two options I miss from my old scanner – if I push the “quickscan” button on this scanner it only scans one page, doesn’t give me the option to scan more, so I have to open in adobe and continue to scan.

I like to use quickscan to avoid fussing with adobe, so. The other thing I miss a LOT is that the old scanner had an option to automatically create a new folder named for the date you were scanning on.

I scan documents daily and do like to record them by date, so that was a really nice way to do that. Brother lets you set a default folder but has no option to auto-create dated subfiles, so I have to manually create a folder every day and move the files to that folder.

The ugly, and what lost this scanner 2 whole stars: My one HUGE complaint about this scanner is the plastic feed guide which is AWFUL for two reasons. One, someone designed it so that the picture instruction are at the top of the guide.

So every time you scan something, those are scanned with it, and you have to go in and edit it out manually. Two, for some reason the outside of the plastic sheets are a bit rough. The *inside* is so smooth it’s actually slippery.

This is what I use for the daily scanning of dated documents, small pieces of paper that I want to scan multiples of per page, and it. is. AWKWARD. I have to CAREFULLY place the papers, then arrange my hands to clamp down FIRMLY on every individual piece of paper or else they will slip the moment I move the guide to put it in the scanner.

I have to continue to hold on while I carefully place it in the scanner, carefully move my one hand away to tell the computer to start scanning, and keep my hand placed over the whole guide to try and hold the papers in place when it starts to scan.

Often enough to be frustrating, they still end up slipping and I have to begin the whole process again.

Having worked with a Fujitsu and a Kodak scanner for years, I have to say that this scanner is not competitive, other than on price. The included document management software is slow and, I think, useless.

The scanning software itself is awkward and requires you to name the file BEFORE the scan or accept its default name and then you can hunt down the file and move it and rename it. This is the PRIMARY reason not to buy the machine.

It is simply awkward to work with the software and it takes more time to mess with the file naming than other machines. In fact, any time you save because the scanner may scan more pages faster is lost again because of needing to mess with where you’ll want the scan filed and what you want the name to be.

Now, if all you want is to be able to scan a bazillion documents into one folder and then go back later and sort them out and rename them, this might be okay for you. Or if you are going to scan and then use the enclosed, very slow document mgmt software to add properties or create a filing index, this may also work for you.

But if you want to continue using a simple Windows Explorer-based folder and file system with identifying file names, you will find this machine maddening.

Won’t connect from my Mac (Monterey M1) over ethernet/wifi, waiting on support to help. Unit itself works good to the cloud, the mobile app won’t let me download, says preparing, but never downloads.

Overall it’s REALLY nice because of the screen and built in basic editing functions. Assuming I get it working with my Mac, I’ll definitely keep it!.

I’ve only just begun using the scanner. It is much easier to use and faster than Neat Scanner which I had used previously. It is really nice to be able to scan directly to the cloud without having to be connected to the computer.

My only complaint is that the documents I scan to their cloud don’t have a thumbnail image associated with them. I just see a list of file names and you need to click and open to see what they are. This is really unfortunate and might be a deal breaker for my using their software.

I feel I have done a lot of research for a practical scanner for home use. I elected this scanner because it had great reviews. I read hundreds of reviews for different scanners. No one tells it better than the consumer.

It arrived on time and the customer service has been great so far. I will know more after I get very busy scanning. Thanks for a great product. Not the cheapest, but I am looking for quality and service.

The patriot h60 was very easy to connect as it is only a power cable and a usb to the PC. It was a little difficult to get the software to work as the instructions ask to insert the disk and follow the directions, but the disk was not provided in the box.

I was able to find the driver, that was not easy to find on the website!, but downloaded the driver and it still did not work. I found the software download and then was able to get it to work, but WARNING, the scanner will only work in the usb slot that the scanner was plugged into when the driver is installed.

We have had the scanner for almost a year now and has worked great! We have run into an issue with the first page is showing a blue line with it looks like blue ink stains around the boarders of the page.

I have cleaned the inside of the scanner and the issue is still there. I contacted support and hopefully they will be able to help resolve the issue.

I just spoke to a gentleman who helped my set up the Patriot H80 and it now does everything I need it to do! I can now search my PDFs, edit them as needed, and add in signatures, which saves so much time.

I am having difficulty with the software. I have tried to contact Visioneer by phone and after hanging on hold, I sent them an email. I still have not had anyone contact me. I cannot manage to figure out how to set the defaults I need, nor can I make the thing scan searchable pdfs.

I have tried to use the software user guide, but nothing seems to stick and I’m really missing my last scanner and it’s user-friendly software. If I can’t make the features this scanner has work, then what good are they? If I could get it to do what the site claims it can, this scanner would be great.

I had the pre-curser to this scanner and have used it daily since 2016 (could it be that long?) it scans beautifully and, to my knowledge, it only missed a page once. The scan is so clear! I have a commercial scanner available to me that is very fast but the image is not nearly as clear.

I have to set up a home office and purchased this product. It is even better than the pre-curser! Love the small card feed! Love that thicker paper is easy to feed. And love the feed return so it doesn’t take up desk space.

Easy to setup in general, and connet to wireless. Takes up little space on my desk and it scans wonderfully. Fast, skew correction, empty page deletion. Just buy this.

Just got it Monday after a lousy process by staples. But seems pretty good. I used the old software I had for a prior version. Scans well. Haven’t figured out wifi set up yet.

I just received this Pandigital scanner, I have scanned 671 photos without a problem. Very easy to use and it makes backing up those old photos quick and simple. I did use the protective sleeve for a few of the small pictures and did noticed some white lines after a few scans, I think the sleeve may need cleaning.

all of the other 650 plus scans did not have any lines. The scanner comes with a small cleaning device that can be used to clean the scan head. On a good quality picture the scan was very clear and the colors looked great.

After scanning a lot of old 110 pictures and polaroids, i realized they were a bit fuzzy. nothing caused by the scanner they were just poor quality photos and the flaws stood out when viewed on a computer screen several times larger than the original.

I did all of the scans directly to an SD card and periodicly checked the scans on my PC. Everything worked smoothly. This is a great way to get copies of those old family photos that relatives might be reluctant to let leave their house!! To bad i couldnt have scanned them in years ago, a lot of the color has degraded over the years.

At least I know I have scanned images that can be backed up without any further degredation. Will a flat bed scanner do a better job? probably, but I will scan pictures with this scanner that would have never been scanned otherwise, so I think it’s a great value.

I read review of : Scansanps, Epsons, Brother scanners in same class for ~1 year. My purpose was to minimize paper records, journal, magazines, old musty books in storage. 1. Best Reviews given – lives up to the reviews.

2. I have only used wired. cannot vouch for wireless, yet. 3. Have only used PDF – double, single sided, automatic, 90 degree rotation, as-is searchable features. Cannot vouch for OCR – which does not scan searchable.

4. It scans: onion thin paper, stapled paper (left in by accident), crinkled paper, etc. as close to flawless as possible. It is NOT flawless BUT, be aware: 1. It does not create very good “searchable” hand-written though printed notes.

-It will do a PDF but an “image”. 2. Put onion thin paper in one at a time, else may pull through more than 1 paper at a time due to thin-ness. 3. Most crinkled wrinkled paper will go through but some may get jammed and tear–do not leave un-attended.

It is very easy to “un-jam” BUT I would like the option to “delete and resume” which is not always an options. AND I would like the option to “Stop and Rotate” a page. not an option if in the middle of a large batch.

(I have not found it?!) 4. Automatic with NOT always “correctly rotate” images. but does a good job and it will search document PDF saved searchable even if at an angle. 5. If the document was a fax with a fax stamp in the opposite direction of the written document – the scanner may scan the document per the fax heading not the actual document (it may be upside down!) 6.

The SET-UP was very easy. BUT I did not set-up the “Free” Nuance software-which is not needed to use the product. 7. The largest searchable PDF file is: 1,000 pages (front = 1 page; back = another page page 2) 8.

Once done with a large PDF batch, and go in and want to rotate a page for viewing. it will rotate the entire batch. 9. Handles old newspaper clippings well. even long columns, BUT monitor the scan. to ensure it captures the entire column.

10. SUGGESTION: Practice with it for 1-2 weeks on all types of what you want to scan while you are sitting there. Then you will know its limitations for what you want to do. 11. I have NOT used the OCR scanner except to note that the size of the saved document is about the same as the PDF, but not searchable and takes longer to open.

BUT I intend to use it for alot of old family photos in the future and will update my review then. 12. FINALLY! BACKUP WHATEVER YOU HAVE SCANNED!. but you know that by now, right? This is a great item if you: 1.

Run a home office and do not want to be buried in paper. 2 Are a caregiver and do not want to be buried in medical documentation 3. Are a professional trainer, teacher, author & want to save for research- trade journals, books, etc.

for future research projects. 4. Anyone who wants to use what limited “real-estate” you have as efficiently as possible. I have owned the item for a few months, so this review is based on that time period.

I needed a second scanner at my apartment close to where I work. I bought the scanner from Amazon but it was an Epson refurbished scanner which was a great deal. At home I had Neat scanner. The Epson is extremely compact.

Took only a few minutes to set up. No connection problems with my laptop. In two days of heavy scanning, the Epson was twice as fast as the Neat (duplex, color, etc – didn’t matter) and jammed only once when I failed to remove a staple.

My Neat scanner jams one out of 15 times it seems like. The software was easy to use and there were a lot of options I haven’t gotten into yet. There were a couple of things that the Epson could do better.

There is no guard for the paper loading tray. Some flimsy paper and paper with heavy folds would fall forward and disengage from the rubber wheels. I would prop up the front of the scanner to cause the paper to lie flat in the tray.

Also there is no button on the scanner to execute the scan. You have to load the tray and then click using the mouse. Another thing I noticed is that PDFs from the Epson seem to be larger than PDFs from my Neat even though I’m scanning at about the same resolution.

Might be an option I haven’t discovered yet. Also Neat has/had a convenient “file cabinet” setup/format and and it must have a proprietary compression technology because the non-PDF files are very small but can’t be read without the software.

Neat no longer supports the hard-drive version of the software and is trying to push users to the cloud with a subscription. Once I convert all my Neat files to PDF, I will probably retire it and use just the Epson.

Overall, a great scanner.

This is so much faster and more convenient to use than the scanner that’s attached to my printer. I had a hard time making the purchase since my printer had one built. It seemed like it would be a double purchase of the same thing but the ease of use, speed of loading, scanning & saving docs made this a great buy.

I have more to learn so I can benefit from it’s full power. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I was nervous about buying this scanner as I was used to our ScanSnap that we’d had for years. But Fujitsu stopped supporting updates for it and it was no longer compatible with our apple software. I was a bit miffed with Fujitsu as our scanners still worked well otherwise.

When I started looking, I started with Costco as I trust them explicitly and figured if I hated the scanner I could take it back to Costco, no questions asked. It arrived in good time and I set it up easily.

The software was easy to install. I was SO impressed with how easily it feeds the paper through, even folded paper (if you have it on that setting. ) I used to always run into issues with the ScanSnap.

The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars, instead of 5, is that the ScanSnap would open my Finder window each time I scanned something to allow me to choose where to save the file. This one has you choose one specific file they get saved to, and then you have to go into that file and move it afterwards.

It wasn’t a huge deal. I just scanned everything first, then went into that file, renamed the files, and moved them where I wanted them saved. So far, I would buy it again and recommend it to others.
