20 Best Sawzall Blades For Wood (2023 Updated)

I own a Dewalt 20v sawzall and I am using it for home repairs. I am no professional so I don’t purchase many blades and have only tried a number of generic branded blades and Dewalt blades. I have cut thick CPVC, steel pipe and steel fence posts with ease using Bi-Metal blades from Dewalt and Milwaukee.

Unless you purchase the thick Dewalt professional blades (black ones at 2x the price) you won’t find a blade that offers the longevity and durability of this Milwaukee set. The price is commensurate with the blades/pieces.

The blades are priced about right and the extra $5 is for the handy case. At $25 for a set of 12, you are purchasing a set of versatile blades that can be used for demolition that make straight clean cuts.

I find that the Dewalt (yellow) Bi-Metal blades are thinner and much more likely to bend and flex. I used a fresh 18 TPI Dewalt blade to cut a fence top rail and the blade was bent after my first cut.

The Milwaukee blades appear to be almost 50% thicker and do not bend or flex. Cut after cut they remain true and straight. Excellent value for an excellent set of stronger thicker sawzall blades.

Bought this assortment of blades for the Ax blade. Needed to cut down a large number of small sumac trees. Worked like a charm. Made easy work of the trees (using a Milwaukee M18 Hackzall Reciprocating Saw).

Blade came away looking brand new. Price was fair based upon quality. Highly recommend. BTW, highly recommend the Milwaukee M18 Hackzall Reciprocating Saw as well. Even with the large battery it is easy to manage with one hand.

I am using the turbo torch to make sterling silver and copper jewelry. So far, the torch works well. I’m using a #3 tip, and it does need careful adjusting to get just the right flame for the size and complexity of the piece I’m working on.

The handle is comfortable to work with. I haven’t had it long enough to know if there are any problems likely. So far, I’d recommend it to anyone if another one appears for sale on ebay.

This is my favorite blade for my Sawzall. It is thick and sturdy, but you can bend it to get into tight spaces. The teeth are medium sized so it can do rough demo but it is not so aggressive as to pull you around.

Lenox makes a very tough blade and this will stay sharp for the longest time. Cut through steel at a slow speed so your blade doesn’t get too hot and it will stay sharp much longer. A little noticed aspect of reciprocating blades is the angle of the blade.

They all stick straight out from the saw, but the more aggressive blades are angled down, so they catch and pull the work. Metal blades go more straight. The straighter they go, the slower the cut and the more control you have.

It’s easier to plunge cut with a straighter blade. This blade has a more straight angle which gives you more control. You can plunge cut more easily with this blade and I use it to cut baseboard in place, right up next to the tile floor with my saw vertical against the wall.

It’s a tricky cut, definitely an expert move (you have to be careful to cut close to the tile floor but not bump it at all), and this blade makes it possible.

I have used these blades for unconventional recip saw duties for quite a while now. I have trimmed limbs as large as 8″ off trees and even cut down smaller trees. The only limit after the length of the blade is the length of your extension cord and the breadth of your imagination.

You will want to use a little slower blade speed to keep the blade from “whipping,” but on thicker wood you can speed it up. You will find lots of uses for a recip blade this long. Maybe timber framing? I don’t know, but someday I’d like to try it.

Lenox blades are the toughest, best made blades for recip saws. The brief history is that they were designed for plumbers to cut through pipe and were once only available through plumbing suppliers. Not anymore.

The secret is out and you can even get them from home essentials direct! At the end of the day these blades have more teeth left than the crowd at a barroom brawl! You can “kill” one, but it takes alot more effort.

I was needing a new blade for my circular saw since it’s been bogging down cutting through lumber for a while now. So I tried out the new Dewalt 7 ¼, 24 tooth framing blade to get me going again. I must say it was very nice switching over to this blade.

I was using it to cut to through 2×4 stock for a project and it cut very smoothly without any splintering. Quite an improvement over my old 24 tooth blade that I had been using. The thin kerf on the new Dewalt let the saw cut the 2x stock that much easier and left a smooth straight line where the blade had cut through.

There was no vibration on the blade during the cuts, and the vibration dampening slots cutout of the blade seem to work well. The carbide teeth are sharp and were just like new after a week of cutting through various stock lumber.

The blade allowed me to make quick smooth cuts consistently. I would definitely recommend this blade and it is my new go-to blade for my everyday use.

This 7 1/4 High-Density Tungsten Carbide tip circular saw blade (DWA1711424) is comparing it to using a new utility knife blade to cut. Nothing like a very clean and easy cut! It’s clean and smooth and cuts a fine line through wood other than simple framing lumber with ease.

I normally go with Diablo blades, but this is very even with them in durability. Even though this has a thinner kerf cut than the Diablo blades. This blade is. 065” and Diablo is at. 093”. It is especially nice, while using a secured guide, to cut 3/4 sanded plywood, which usually frays and splinters fairly easily, but not with this blade.

This blade created the smoothest cuts I have ever have seen, there was very little tear out at the end of the cut. Ordinary cuts are a cinch, and it stays nice and sharp. This blade is amazing! It cuts through PT lumber like butter.

No telling how many cuts it will take to make it dull either. It’s worth every penny. Quality matters!!! DeWALT has done some great innovation to this blade. I would recommend this blade to my peers!!!.

It’s a Milwaukee Sawzall box. My Milwaukee sawzall with 6 inch blade was a perfect fit. This metal box was used, a little faded on the outside but the hinges and latches were good and there were no noticable dents.

Metal Box has more space for accessories than plastic.

Lennox and Milwaukee blades are the best I’ve found on my sawzalls. this pack is awesome since you really only have to buy blades once a year for most use cases with a 50-pack. They’re pretty short in length, and its a lot of cake up front to buy, but I’m very happy with the purchase and will likely buy this again when I run out next time.

Milwaukee put in the effort to spread and harden the teeth, so that the only part of the blade that touches the wood is the teeth. These blades do not bind on the sides, which greatly reduces friction, heat, and the power needed to use them.

I’m using them for hardwood, and they are the best that I have tried yet. They are so good, I rarely get out the chainsaw anymore, unless I really need it.

These cut wood a lot more aggressively than the 5 tpi blade meant for embedded nails. We take down about 3 medium sized pine trees a year, and one of these will last about 3 years, taking off the branches as I cut logs, plus seasonal pruning.

I like the length. Given how loose the reciprocating saw action is, I think any longer would make it bend too much, and 6 inches is just not useable. Recommended.

These make light work of various demolition tasks, whether it be studwork, metal bolts, or just breaking up something like fences or pallets. Just line up the blade along the join, pull the trigger on your sabre saw, and apply a little push.

The blade will follow the join, the path of least resistance, and buzz through both timber and nails very easily. I find they can heat up and bend reasonably quickly if you’re not super careful, though.

Good product on balance.

Clean cut with enough flexibility to deal with different textures within the wood. Tough enough to deal with occasional nails in old wooden boxes.

One blade still in use after 1. 5 days cutting overgrown tree hedge ivy, dead tree stumps and tree limbs to about 15cm diameter. Blades cuts very well on all. Of course accept it might stick when weight of wood begins to increase during the cut.

Also ivy is a flexible tangle often loose as a bush so needs one end held firm or to gently tap the blade through the tangle of tendrills maintaining the cut, rather than let one one tendrile get stuck between teeth and then it just goes backwards and forwards ! Very pleased i went with a course toothed wood specific blade for cutting trees and ivy.

Oh yes, i did bend the tip 5cm but straightened it out and still going strong.

Excellent replacement blades for my Bosch pro Reciprocating Saw. Using this saw to trim tree branches rather than a chain saw is safer in my opinion. Safety first, check the lift path secure the branch to lower to grade- no falls from heights- secure yourself in a safe arc.

Do not rush , take a break and go again rather than stay at it; till the sun goes down.

Used these bosch wood blades, but they do get bent, lose their sharpness and performance after just a few cuts sadly. They are also quite a bit pricey for only 5 blades so will look for other brands and deals in future.

Why it gets a slight reduction in my review is since I had to put more energy and strength into my Ebauer Reciprocating Saw (Corded 1100watts) I did not expect the blades to lose their sharpness after 5-10 minutes use.

I used 3 blades to cut up 2 large 10inch tree stumps which were decaying from weedkiller and the few holes and copper nails I put in them from a previous summer. This took 2-3 hours roughly. I cut them in sections in triangle shapes, removing each piece and then repeating the process till I cut it flat as can be on the top.

The saw and blade would not be powerful enough to cut it from left to right sadly. Once the surface of the stump is flat I did the same process and cutting style but on top, so cut them like I would a pizza in small sections till their was nothing left.

You could probably cut larger tree stumps but it would take you a good few hours if not half the day. Recommend before you cut the stump you pour weed killer and cover stumps with a solid black bucket to assist the decaying process, this will soften it up and make the job go quicker and add cuts/drill holes if you can too.

Being the handyman person that I am, I’ve been using Sawzalls in my daily work for decades. So, after trying these carbide blades, I am impressed. The price is reasonable and the saw blades are very sturdy.

They cut through things with ease without the blade getting dull too quickly. I have cut tubing, PVC pipe, couplings, small metal pipes for wires, etc and it hasn’t broken or dulled yet and I have had it for a month now.

The blades are not complicated to install and it can be done quickly. Since I have received the 9″ blade, I have also purchased other sizes. I am sticking with this brand.

I bought this blade while browsing for blades that would resist bending due to heat. The thin blades that I usually buy just seem to get hot quickly and weaken. I saw this blade and it just screamed robust at me.

I had to give it a try, and am glad I did. I used this blade to cut in heat register boot holes in hard dry plywood. One after another it did a great job! Cut right in with precision, none of the usual thin blade wander.

The grip in the cut was great and kept the blade right on the stencil lines with ease. Great blade for my rough in needs.

These blades are simply the best cutting blades I have ever used. I had a helper on a job I was doing and we needed to cut a pipe which normally takes a band saw cutter which I didn’t have, so I grabbed my Milwaukee saws all and a one of these blades and my helper says You cant cut it with that and I responded.

“Yes I can. these are Milwaukee Blades” and much to my surprise and his I cut through the 2 Drill Pipe like it was a piece of wood. Very impressive. I will only use Milwaukee Blades and drills now.

Used these blades on a car accident with battery powered saw, had to cut the side off of a full size van and they worked great. Cut fast and gave us more room for extrication and working on driver. One of the other depts.

Great blades, cuts well and lasts long. I ordered mine online and had it shipped to my house, it came with 10 extra blades as bonus (10+10 = 20 blades). Cant beat the price and value! Thanks Milwaukee

I dont even remember the price-per-blade that this cost but it was a much better deal than 1, 3, or 5 packs obviously. I personally prefer the standard Milwaukee sawzall blades over Diablo or anything else for that matter.

The blades seem to hold up better to heat and ramming better than other blades. They dont bend as easily (which can sometimes be a bad thing) but overall these blades are very impressive. Will definitely be buying again when these 25 get wore out.

The blades are sharp and keep their cutting ability through multiple uses. The bargain blades are good for a couple of cuts, but are toast after hitting a knot or a nail. The Milwaukee blades are also thicker and give straighter cuts.

Bought the 6″ to cut 3″ cast iron drain pipe. It did not even complete one cut made it about 3/4 of the way through and wouldn’t cut anymore. Looked at the blade and all the teeth were rounded over. Luckily I bought a diablo carbide at the same time.

It completed the cut and made another 6 to finish the job. I’ve bought milwaukee tools all my life but after this will buy diablo blades to go with them.

Quick Disclaimer. this blade is designed for cutting through cast iron and thick metal. The projects I work on don’t typically call for that type of cutting. However, the teeth pattern and rigidity make this blade very universal.

As most readers will know, the 7 tpi (teeth per inch) spacing is best for hard materials like metals and plastics. It will work in a pinch for wood and other material, but not ideal. The construction of this blade is amazing.

The added height gives it a stiff feel and keeps it from being overly flexible. When cutting through pipe, this is a feature that allows for a straight cut where the ends will line up. The carbide teeth are so well integrated that it’s hard to tell where the carbide begins and ends.

A lot of blades I’ve used before have very pronounced tips that can get caught up when using a reciprocating saw and end up breaking off. This is an overall great blade and I would highly recommend adding it to your tool box.

If you need to cut through cast iron waste pipes, tubs or steam heat pipes, this blade gets the job done and lasts through several cuts.

Normally I have to replace blades after every pipe I cut, but this one has lasted through three uses already and looks like new, so it has a lot of life left to it. A note of caution, be sure to wear protective face and eye covering and start out on slow speed until you get used to the cutting power.

It can have quite a “kick” on high speed and works quickly and precisely as long as you are familiar with using these tougher blades.

I usually burn through sawzall blades throughout any project that I take on. The Wrecker sawzall blade promotes it as being able to cut through most everything, so I put it to the test. It easily cuts through wood (lumber and tree branches), sheetrock, PVC pipe, electrical cable, and most everything that will be encountered in any demolition project.

It was a little resistant when it came to cutting nails and other metal surfaces, yet eventually cut through them. During the process of testing this blade, I lost one blade tooth, yet that didn’t slow down the blade from cutting and cutting.

This blade offers high-end demolition assistance to most any project. Just a note that the performance of this blade (and most every blade) depends on the quality of the sawzall that is being used. I have a cordless and a corded sawzall, and there was a difference in the blade’s performance.

I mainly use my Sawzall for interior demo work doing disaster relief for families in need after hurricanes. I got the Pruning blade to test out on smaller branches around home exteriors where a chainsaw would be overkill, and this gets the job done.

The Milwaukee 9″ Pruning blade is a bit thicker than most other reciprocating saw blades, and that’s important for cuts on larger branches in helping to prevent buckling. Using the blade depth adjustment on the Sawzall itself makes this blade easily useable on smaller cuts as well.

Bottom line – it’s everything I’ve come to expect from a Milwaukee product: reliable, long lasting, and tough as nails. A handy blade to add to your Sawzall demo quiver.

I got this Sawzall Blade for (me) my husband. We had a couple of Cyprus trees that needed to be trimmed because the limbs were blocking our view of on coming traffic. My husband (James) was very impressed with the Blade.

James said it cut the limbs with ease and Cyprus trees are known for being hard wood. The Blade wasn’t chipped, bent, or even dull. My husband has a very smart wife!.

I picked this up to to help clear some small stumps and general pruning. To say I was impressed would be a huge understatement. Once the roots below the stump were exposed this sure made short work of cutting them and removing the stump.

These blades cut so quick and clean ,it made the job so much easier. I also trimmed some branches and am amazed. how fast and clean they cut. I was using a cordless saw and the battery ran a lot longer than it normally did because or the speed of the cuts.

I bought before Christmas. I uses dewalt blades before these. They don’t last long as the other blades. I’ve used the circular saw blades and was amazed. But these left me wanting something else. The other blades get.

bent and I straighten them with a hammer and keep on working these I have to remove them for a new one. I’ve used dewalt and milwaukee for a whole remodel job stretching over a week. with just one blade these last a few hours and the teeth.

Diablo Tools sent my fire department some Amped blades to test and try last October. We’ve done multiple extrications as well as teaming with our local metal supplier to test the extreme capabilities of the blades.

We were able to cut any car at any place with no issue. And the metal supplier gave us a metal that “a torch will barley cut. ” The blade made multiple cuts with no issue or warping. We only lost one or two teeth during the cuts.

Our old blades were trashed after trying one. My Chief was very pleased and made the decision that the Amped blades are now going to be the only blades that we use. Congrats on a well made product and thank you for the free blades to try out.

I started using these blades in different TPI a couple of months ago and I will no longer use any other brand. Ive tried Milwaukee and Lenox and they dont even compare. They are not cheap but they actually work.

The Lenox blades wouldnt even hold up to their specific use, as in material thickness vs. recommended TPI. I contacted Lenox about this and I didnt even get a reply. These blades cut through steel like butter.

They require very little effort which is how it should be. They cut through steel before they even have a chance to heat up. They are absolutely worth the higher price.
