20 Best Saw For Cutting Plywood (2023 Updated)

Wish we would have had this saw years ago as it would have made a lot of renovation projects a lot easier! The saw is very powerful (it plugs in so no worries of batteries running down). The saw is designed that when we ripped a narrow piece of OSB board it had the smoothest splinter-free cut I’ve ever seen for a circular saw.

LOVE the attachable dust bag for mess-free cutting and keeping sawdust out of the air. Adjustment tools store right into the handle of the saw. The saw can be adjusted to a tilted position to allow for bevel cuts.

We love the guide track that is designed to go with this saw. It prevents kickback. The guide has a grippy bottom to it that holds to the board and doesn’t slide around. This takes the guesswork out of cutting a long straight line.

I’ve watched my grandfather and dad over the years use a variety of word working saws and assist my husband with renovation projects we have done a lot of measuring and re-measuring to ensure a straight line.

If we would have had this saw years ago it would have made a lot of projects easier. Even though I don’t operate saws often I found it easy to use and maneuver. My husband and I are very impressed with this kit and look forward to using it for all our upcoming projects! Oh, and the saw came with a very roomy and handy bag for storage and transportation! Love the quality of everything that came with the kit.

My husband is newly retired and has his little workshop for his projects and the honey-do list I presented him with a month or so after he retired (didn’t want to ambush him with it right away). We live in a 45-year-old house that has lots of places that need updating and now that we’re past doing all of the big stuff we can concentrate on updating and fixing the cosmetic things.

This Kreg ACS 2000 saw system is perfect for some of these projects my husband has to do now. He said that the saw is accurate, the blade sharpness is excellent, he really likes the anti-kickback control and the whole system is well thought out.

He loves the bag to store it in and thinks that is a wonderful addition to the set. He would like to make one suggestion though. He wishes the guide track could be broken down into two pieces to make storage easier.

He would like to see them in a 2-piece snap together configuration if that would be possible and still keep be able to keep the strength as good as it is in a one piece. Other than that, that he thinks this is probably the best addition to his workshop in a long time.

This track saw system works like the high priced saws at a price I could afford. Accurate, clean cuts. Dust collection using the bag is great. Fills fast though so you need to empty it often. When using vacuum dust collection, I’m really impressed.

Bought the additional track to rip a full eight feet. Had to buy the connection bars separate. Kreg missed the mark on this. Should have been included with the extra track. One other issue is that the set screws for the track connectors are a different size (smaller) than the other screws used on the saw.

No place to store the extra wrench. I’ll eventually drill out a tap the connectors so I can use set screws that use the same size as the wrench stored in the saw handle. Stupid design mistake on Kreg’s part.

Other than those very minor issues, the track saw and the track is great.

This is such a great price for a plunging track saw. I combined it with 110 inches of Powertec tracks to build a big fridge-microwave cabinet. Everything came out clean and square. Made good use of the score-setting as I was cutting 3/4 inch melamine coated fibreboard, to keep the edges mostly clean.

Note I put on a Wen 56 tooth blade for this, not using the oem 42 tooth blade.

The *feel* of this saw isn’t great. It feels fairly plasticky, etc. However, I was pleased with the first several cuts I made with this. I paired it with the Powertec tracks, and I used the included blade.

It glided with surprising ease through 3/4″ (18mm) plywood sheets. I also put it through about 1. 25″ (35mm) (not very dense) maple, and it struggled a bit more, but made it through with no serious struggles.

This definitely seems like the right value for this saw, and I think it will meet all my needs as a hobbyist.

The saw itself feels like cheap plastic. The buttons and adjustments are poorly made and need to be readjusted a lot. The blade it comes with struggles w easy tasks and just burns wood. It has an anti kickback that doesn’t work.

If you get a kickback the saw will leave the track. I see no use for this saw.

With one important caveat, this is the most useful saw I have ever owned- light, flexible, quite safe. The basic concept is excellent, with one major flaw, one which required me to buy a replacement after my first one is only a year old, and that one issue should have Makita hanging its heads in shame.

My first saw still runs fine- but the turnkey depth adjustment bolt simply stripped without having any stress put on it, and it is impossible to reasonably disassemble the guard piece enough to repair it (that is, replace the stripped nut).

It is also a fact that the original nut was marginal, or maybe that the depth guard lock system was simply a lousy design- I can see improvements for all of that. But the basic saw is so useful and essential that I bought a second one after only a year.

If this one strips too, I will stop buying Makita products.

Perfect for my use. I have a table saw, miter saw, track saw, circular saws, jig saws, hand saws, and more saws. This is perfect for what I want it for. It is not meant to cut 2X4’s or anything thicker than an inch and a quarter.

I wouldn’t use it for ripping full-size sheets of 3/4 plywood or underlayment. But what it is great for is for trimming thin plywood, for cutting drywall cutouts, and similar tasks. It’s great for cutting individual floor boards out in remodels.

The small diameter blade gets almost all the way to the end of the cut where all you have to do it is a little hand action with the hand saw or a multi-saw. If you are doing light craft work, this might also be the thing for you.

Don’t buy it to build a fence or a dog house or a kitchen remodel. You can use it on all three, but you’ll need more full size saws for all the framing.

I bought my first Makita 3 3/8 cordless saw probably 25+ years ago. I used it heavily and traded it for the same model a number of years later. I still have that saw and it works fine but batteries are getting hard to find so when I saw this reconditioned unit I snapped it up.

It looks brand new and works great. The listing didn’t say anything about a case but I received one with mine! Bonus!.

I’ve been wanting a cordless circular saw for a long time, since I moved operations to the larger area of my shop where electrical outlets are in short supply. I normally prefer sidewinder saws, because I’m a woodworker, but for a left hand blade saw this thing is pretty solid.

Was easy to set up out of the box. The base is nice and flat, and easy to adjust the set screw for true 90. Another thing about the base, the distance between the blade and edge of the base is only 3-9/16″ or thereabouts, which makes running an edge guide for long cuts on narrow hardwood boards much more feasible without having to do any trickery.

Most of the metal on this saw is magnesium, which is a big help in keeping the weight down on this saw. It is actually slightly lighter than my ripmax I think, which is quite the achievement for a cordless saw.

The power is more than adequate for softwoods, so carpenters and framing guys will not find this saw lacking in that department. Long rip cuts on hardwoods is a bit of a challenge for this saw, but the added benefits of being cordless make up for it in my opinion.

To be fair, the metabo hpt ripmax will always be king in the power department just due to the fact that a 36 volt system just is not capable of delivering the power of a 15 amp brushed motor. They geared this saw nice a low to help with that and the effects are apparent.

The brake is also fantastic. Barely a second and the blade stops. Something nice this saw comes with that I was not expecting is the dust port adapter for using a wet dry vac. Probably not the most useful thing on a jobsite, but in a woodworking shop it is a nice luxury to have.

Now, there is a slide safety on this saw, as is the case with pretty much every cordless tool these days, but the slide safety is very smooth on this saw. There is no grittiness or any feeling of fragility that makes you wonder if it will break and disable the saw.

I can tell this will be a nice dependable tool for years to come. Ergonomics, portability, and reliability are the name of the game, and this saw nails it.

After 35 years it was time to replace my old Makita 7-1/4 in saw. I need one that had a little more depth to straighten boards on a home made track saw table. This saw with the 8-1/4 inch blade provided the extra depth without jumping up to the 10 inch model.

I have read a lot of negative reviews about recent Makita saws but this one has not disappointed me so far. It is smooth, comfortable to handle, and has plenty of power. The LED light and blower to keep the cut line clear is a plus.

I would recommend this saw. Just remember that 8-1/4 inch blades are not stocked at many hardware stores. You may want to keep a spare so you can change the blade when needed.

This saw is a beast. It will cut through anything you put it through and won’t slow down. It isn’t exactly lightweight, but it is still lighter than a 7 1/4″ 36V LXT saw as it is corded and without the weight of 2 battery packs.

The magnesium frame is lightweight and durable. Comes with a rip fence.

Was a little hesitant to get a reconditioned saw as some in the past looked worn out when I got them. I was pleasantly surprised at this one as it looked nearly new and came with the manual and a blade.

This saw was recommended to me by EurekaZone. com forum to use on their track saw bench because of the larger blade and great motor. Searched the web and found CPO. Will definitely buy from CPO again because of great pricing and fast delivery of quality goods.

In addition to this corded circ saw, I also own the older cordless version (C18DGLP4). As much as the cordless benefits of maneuverability and lightweight is really nice, the corded version (C7UR) is pulled out for serious cutting of larger boards such as 2×6’s.

and having larger amounts of moisture in them. There is a bit of weight to it which I think it is a positive making it easier to hold down against the wood while cutting. though not so much if doing vertical cutting.

There is hefty power in this saw. For me the negatives are some missing features. One is a missing trigger safety (. not something I thought I would miss). Given the weight of the saw and if you pick it up quickly while not paying attention to your finger being on the trigger, you could be surprised with the saw easily starting up on you.

This leads me to the second missing feature and that is a quick electric brake for the blade. After making a series of cuts on some 2×3’s outdoors, I had released the trigger as I was putting the saw down on the grass.

I guess I did it too quickly as the blade guard hadn’t fully close nor the blade fully stopped as just a little bit of the blade came in contact with the grass. After this occurred, I became much more careful with the timing and placement of the saw after each use.

This is the reason I am giving this 4 stars vs 5.

I am a fan of Metabo tools. I bought several different tools. made by Metabo. The saw was one of them. Initially I had trouble operating it but later I got used to it. When I started using it I was very upset as it took me to exert a lot cut.

I figured it out why. I felt that its handle is not located in the right place. You can not push it easily. I felt that handle could have been in the rear so it can be pushed forward instead of downward.

The research and development department need to pay more attention to its better functionalities. The blade included was not that of good quality. it had good run time of the battery.

Have been using Hitichi tools since 1989 but never saws. Used a Milwaukee that was our dads for personal use and most major brands provided by employers i have worked for in the past. when my father passed I gave the saw to my brother and bought a Skil but it met its demise to my Teenage son.

The personal need arose for me to have a saw again and I purchased the Metabo. Impressed the first time in use. Great power and nice balance and weight. A lot more easy to adjust and use than the previous saws i owned and you cant beat the warranty with a 10′ stick.

As stated above, this saw is awesome when it works. I’ve owned this saw since August 2021 and at first I thought this was the true replacement to corded saws until about 3 months ago the trigger just gave out after sitting on the horse for 20 minutes, not even in the middle of a cut.

I took the saw apart and the contacts in the trigger seem fine and clean, all the springs are in place on the safety thumb lever so I put everything back together and it worked perfectly. Then a few days later the same problem happened, being the only saw on my truck, the day was halted until I went home to get my corded saw.

Now I keep both saws in my truck, this one to cut until it decides to take a nap and my plug in to finish the day. no its not a battery problem, I use all Milwaukee batteries xc 5ah 6ah 9ah. its not a binding problem, im not building canoes and I dont push the saw through material, especially if im missing a tooth or two on the blade.

seems like its some thermal overload feature or something that saves the motor or possibly a faulty switch/trigger. Don’t get me wrong I love my m18 framing gun and impact wrenches/drivers, this isn’t a Milwaukee bash.

Just seems like a steep price for a saw that hasn’t even worked flawlessly for a whole year while my corded saw is a hand-me-down from my dad and has a good 25+ years of framing in the rain/snow, demo jobs, ect.

I’m a carpenter so I use my tools regularly. I treat my tools really well, blow them out with an air tool when I’m done for the day. This saw was fine for the times that I did use, though honestly, I haven’t even really used it that much.

It was in my truck tool box, we used it a week ago for just a few quick cuts. It got cleaned and put away in my truck toolbox. Now it won’t start at all. No reason. I have been told Milwaukee has a serious problem with their switches.

My drill has some intermittent stops in the trigger from day one. I’m starting to worry that it may be the plague of Milwaukee switches other carpenters are talking about. Some people have had two switches replaced per year per tool.

I give it two stars because it did work well for the first year, even though it was pretty light use. We do a lot of very high end trim so it’s usually just cutting some boards quickly. I really did not expect this low a quality from Milwaukee.

I’m trying not to spend $700 on a Festool drill, but if this doesn’t get replaced under warranty then the writing is on the wall for my entire series of Milwaukee tools. I’ll sell them all and upgrade.

I’d be real weary and research Milwaukee trigger problems before you purchase and see if it’s something you want to roll the dice on.

I had to add this to my tool arsenal, as I own the m12 circular saw and it just kept bogging down while cutting old subfloor up from our house. Overall this M18 Fuel version is a very solid product and I am extremely happy with it.

It is very well built, well balanced considering it’s size and has enough power to cut through anything from 3/4″ plywood, to OSB, to 1/2″ oak boards nonstop. I’ve even hit quite a few nails with it while cutting subfloor up and it went through them like butter and the blade withstood no damage! Like to Haves: – I was hoping there would be a laser or at least a light to work in conjunction with this.

– If the blade alignment marking on the shoe was a bight color (red) to help it stand out and cut with better results staying on the line without a guide. – The dust shoot could use another attachment that allows the dust to be redirected based on where I would want it to point.

Using this in a house/in a room cutting up old subfloor the saw dust. – I tend to remove the joist/rafter hooks off my products, so if there was a cap that was able to cover this empty area that would be a nice detail.

I’ve been using Makita saws since I started framing 27 years ago, and you would be hard pressed to beat this tool. A lot of guys favor a Skil Mag 77, which is a good saw as well, but my Magnesium has been kicking like it’s brand new for 7 years now and it’s one of my favorite tools.

I don’t frame anymore, but it’s one of those tools that puts a smile on my face when I need it. You guys know what I mean. There’s just those tools that you love to use because of the reliability, the accuracy, and the trustworthiness.

I’d recommend this saw to anyone.

Since 1978 I’ve used worm-drive saws for carpentry and even some “fine” work. I’ve owned all the major brands including American made SkilSaws, old USA made Milwaukee, plus imported versions by DeWalt, Rigid and Bosch.

For the record, they were all good. However, THIS SAW is the smoothest, strongest, most accurate, and easiest to use. Ask an engineer. Hypoid gearing delivers more torque (per input power) and requires less maintenance than simpler cheaper worm drive gearing.

Higher efficiency and high service rating, combined with Makita’s quality motors, makes this thing ROCK. Unlike other worm-drives, these have elastic bladders that contain the oil and prevent contamination… so NO MORE OIL CHANGES! 😉 They use long-lasting synthetic oil too.

The stiff magnesium plate and angle-block provide reliable detents at 90, 45, 22. 5 degrees. I test angle settings with a magnetic digital inclinometer. The factory detents are accurate so long as you don’t flex the trunion or raise the saw body too high.

With the saw at max depth, detents are within 2/10ths of a degree for all common settings. Soft over-molding on the long adjustment levers makes it easier to lock and unlock than typical short metal levers.

Those padded levers are much kinder to my old hands, either in hot sun or cold wind. The LARGE size makes them easy to work with gloves on too. I check parallelism between blade and shoe with dial indicator.

BOTH of my Mag 5377 saws were spot on from the box. (+ or – 0. 002”) That’s good for a circ-saw! …More accurate that we typically need for any framing. That means when cutting free-hand, we can trust the shoe-to-blade alignment for visual reference.

Using a straight edge, I get super-clean cuts with no burning, even in fine-veneered plywood or OSB. The cord that comes with these is quite good, but I like to replace it with a thirty-foot 12 gauge wire.

These things can draw a TON of current, and they exhibit strong inrush current on start-up. So a 20 amp breaker is recommended. In my home garage, these dim the lights of 15 amp circuits. When you use this on-site, be sure others are not using tools on the same breaker.

( another reason for a THICK LONG cord!) BTW: That funny looking plastic thing near the end of the power cord, is a toroidal spike arrestor. It has a donut shaped ferrous ring that reduces back-emf. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, don’t worry.

I had to look it up too! But what it DOES can be important in some situations. All electric motors are electrically “noisy,” which means they induce positive and negative currents called “back EMF” ( electro-motive force).

And THAT force can interfere with power supplies on generators or the ad-hoc service panels we get on some work-sites. So, by including that little doohickey, smart Makita engineers are protecting the saw AND the power-source from voltage spike problems.

You might not appreciate that little gizmo until you have five guys working power tools from the same generator. Since putting those on ALL our 15 amp tools, we have NEVER blown a breaker! Complaints? Not really.

I wish these came with a sky-hook, but those are easy to get and install. I think the wrench storage could be more secure. Other than that, no gripes. So far, I haven’t killed or stalled these things.

A look at the parts diagram shows they use LARGE SEALED deep-groove ball bearings front and back. Those are mounted inside the all metal body which keeps the power-train in-line. Those features combined with the large cooling fan keep it running smooth and strong, even when trimming large decks or turning joists before the deadline at O-beer-thirty.

So please understand, I am NOT knocking the other worm-drive saws. They all perform well. But when I consider all of its features: accuracy, smooth hypoid power, reduced maintenance, comfortable levers, light-weight and balance… those make this Makita Mag 5377 my favorite version.

I went into business as a professional contractor in 1993 and bought the first design of this saw 5077B in May of 1992. I used the heck out of it until March 2017 when the gear started to slip. Sadly Makita discontinued the parts for it so I figured I got my moneys worth and would buy a new saw.

After all with this kind of lifespan I probably would retire and it would still be working so the $275 was a relative bargain. NO SUCH LUCK! Right out of the box you could tell it was cheaply made. Looked like some kind of transformers toy with chrome trim pieces, black rubber grips blue rubber levers, and an oddly shaped top handle.

All the adjusting levers were rubber coated which are sure to tear after a few days on a jobsite. The trigger has a guard so if you plan on working outside in the cold and need to wear gloves youre going to have to cut a finger off your trigger hand glove or youre not going to be able to use it unless you have tiny hands.

I tried it on a few pieces of ply and 3″ thick LVL and either the brake didnt work. Makita said to use it more to burn it in but it didnt work after 15 minutes of use. NEVER had a problem with the 5077B other than replacing the cord about 10 times from yearly wear.

Maybe you will be happy with it if you never used the old Makitabut after 24 years of using the old model I cant see why they would make it so cheap. The Made in China on the label pretty much sums it up.

Might be good for occasional work but I doubt it would last a year on my job and at that price I wasnt willing to gamble. Makita got it back the next day and I bought a Skil. It too is made in China but is much beefier than this toy.

Been using the Skil for 3 months and I’m glad I sent this back. Almost all my tools are Maikta but they are now breaking and I’m switching to Festool (who doesnt make a wormdrive) TERRIBLE move to go to China Makita; you lost a loyal customer and I wont be returning until you go back to making them with QUALITY in Japan!.

I bought one of these in March 2020, though I used the same model extensively before-hand because my housemate owned one. I didn’t have a drop saw so to make straight cuts, I would set up a piece of timber as a guide on top of the piece I wanted to cut on the table, make it square with my square, clamp it down and make the cut with the circular saw.

The method works fine, but it’s way slower than using a drop saw, and I should’ve just bought a drop saw to start with. Nonetheless, the Makita circular saw has performed flawlessly. I’ve mostly used it with hardwood, which of course is generally more demanding than softwood, and has been no trouble for this saw.

I used it to build about 20 garden wicking beds, a loft, a greenhouse, a solar dehydrator, a teeterboard, etc, as well as for cutting up firewood. At 1800 watts, the saw has plenty of power – more than my Makita mitre saw in fact, at 1430 watts, and with a higher blade speed of 5800 RPM versus 4300 RPM.

It’s reasonably heavy at 4. 8 kg, but comfortable to hold and easy to use. The base seems flat and solid and can easily be tilted for bevel cuts or lowered to adjust the depth of the cut. It can cut a decent depth: 63.

5 mm, or 45 mm with a 45 degree bevel. It also features an LED to light up your cutting area, which I’ve found useful at times. By the way, I believe the “MG” in the model name designates that it has a magnesium base/shoe, which helps save on weight while being very sturdy and durable.

And I believe the only difference between the 5007MG and the 5007MGK is that the latter comes with a carry case. I liked the saw enough to buy my own when my housemate moved out and took his with him.

Unfortunately though, my saw hasn’t seen much use, because I ended up buying both a Makita sliding compound mitre saw and a 5-piece DeWalt Flexvolt kit which included a cordless 54V circular saw. I’ve hardly used my 5007MG saw since then.

That’s because, as with other corded tools, I’ve found the main shortcoming of this saw is that it has a cord, and it’s just rather an inconvenient thing to have on a circular saw. The only other minor shortcoming is that it lacks an electric brake, which I’ve become accustomed to on my cordless circular saw and my mitre saw.

It also seems reasonably pricey for a corded circular saw, but it seems you get what you pay for. If you’re doing a large volume of sawing in one spot with good access to a power point, you need heaps of power, or you don’t want to invest the premium in buying batteries for a cordless version, then perhaps this saw would suit you? I can confidently affirm that it’s a solid saw.

This is by far the smoothest cutting and nicest looking saw that I have ever owned. Its a bit pricey but I will have to say it was definitely worth it. It’s very easy to adjust and is very accurate. The only negative I had is the sticker on the front of the base plate that looks like a ruler came off in the case before I even used it.

I was able to get it stuck back on and it seems to be staying for now but I don’t think it will stay permanently. They may need to use a little better adhesive. It’s a minor issue but an issue I’d expect from a $50 saw not a $160 saw.

This purchase was for my son, but I have the same saw myself. Mine is my third 5007 since about 1980. The first saw years of use until I dropped it off a roof. The second is still in use. I use it with a cutting wheel to cut rebar, concrete blocks, and so on; things I don’t want to use my newer saw for.

It still works fine, and the newer saw, which is several years old, runs like new. My Makitas have always felt smoother to me than other saws I have used and I have tried most of the major brands at least briefly.

I have several other Makita tools; none has ever disappointed me.

I have been wanting a smaller battery operated circular saw. I did my research and it came down to this and one other. What ultimately decided it for me was that I needed to replace most of my battery operated to tools.

I loved my old set -but after 20 plus years of lots of use – the collets weren’t working and it was time for new batteries. My hands are not as strong as they used to be – so size – weight and battery removal is really important.

I couldn’t pinch my fingers together hard enough to get the batteries off my old kit. Time and time again I found myself in a spot where my project was not portable – and my 5 1/2” circular saw was not able to get into tighter spaces.

I love this 4 1/2” saw. The battery slides on and off with one locking button. The design is slender enough to get into most spaces. Powerful! I purchased more dewalt tools and varying batteries. Quality feel!.

The good. great purpose type saw. Low rpm keeps dust and noise to a minimum. Vaccum port enables use right in the room you’re working. With a proper blade you can cut cement/hardi board with ease. Hook it up to a vacuum and cut it right at the tub/bathroom and keep on working.

On the 20v XR platform which is absolutely the best battery in the business. *****The bad. ***** DeWALT LISTEN up!!!!! You put these great saws in ACE, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. But the blade selection is terrible.

The 3/8″ arbor is no big deal as you can use 10mm blades as well but regardless the box stores basically offer the 24 tooth blade for lumber. This saw will cut lumber but it’s real shining use is on other material like cement/hardieboard, tile, etc.

The problem. bad selection of blades. Example. nobody stocks DWA412PCD. The 4 tooth hardboard blade. Nobody has it in stock. Silly!!!.

As an installer of furniture in NYC, I often times have to modify surfaces to accommodate end users. Traveling in the city with tools is always a burden, so when I saw this saw I thought it would be easier to carry around then my usual 6.

5″. So I bought it. I love this thing. Today I made a “rip” cut on a file bank top to have top the same depth as the files cabinets. I cut through 6 feet of 1. 5″ veneered particle board. I had a 4ah battery on the saw.

Not once did the saw stall or bind. The cut was clean and smooth and with the included detachable adjustable fence, set up for the cut was a breeze. I love this saw. It is now my favorite. My Milwaukee will be put away.

I wish the saw was shorter 17″ is long and had to fit in my work bag.

Nice saw. I’m not a professional carpenter (I’m retired), but most of the guys in my family (and ancestors) are, and since I don’t have the room, or desire, to buy a table saw, I use circular saws a lot on my sometimes very extensive remodeling projects around our 160-year old home.

This new one is somewhat less clunky, and a lower profile, than my 7-year old Skil whose motor I burned up ripping way too many 2x4s into 2x2s. My old saw’s motor was making grinding noises already, so the smoke and flames spewing out of the motor was not really a surprise.

The laser sighting on this new saw is great, and it extends well down the line I’m following. I did replace the blade that comes with the new saw with a carbide 40-tooth blade, and it cuts pretty clean.

The saw is great for non-professional use. I’ve read a review, or two, about the cut depth-lock lever breaking off, so I set that plastic lock lever very carefully. The only issue I have with it, and all brand new tools, is the curl in the power cords never seems to go away, and are always getting snagged on the saw horses.

It’s a minor thing, but can be a point of irritation when ripping precut studs.

I had this tool for 2 days and the first time I was gonna use it I couldn’t get the battery to connect half way. I tried several tricks and I other ideas offered by the DeWalt fans. I’ve had a remodeling business for 19 years and always had Dewalt tools but a few years ago I decided to go with Ridgid tools.

The power and not-so smooth operation just wasn’t like Dewalt so in January I decided to spend $8K and a dozen batteries, 15 tools and other items. These new 20v tools are very very poorly designed!!!!! The jigsaw has a plastic guide that doesn’t even fit where it should go, the mini saw doesn’t take any battery, the sawzall has no speed/power selection, the 12” miter saw has several loose fitting pieces that should be a lot more tighter but aren’t and make it maybe in top ten of mitre saws.

Great tool, lightweight and compact. The unit works great with a 5 amp XR battery. The blade guard feels rather light and the trigger safety button is a bit finicky. But it cuts fantastic and tracks nice and is easy to manipulate.

However the The 3/8 arbor is a big fault. Which means finding suitable blades or using other 4 1/2 inch blades at Stores is virtually impossible. There are larger arbor 4 1/2 blades for paneling blades, cut off blades for aluminum, thin gauge metal, ceramic/tile, brick, hardwood trim fine tooth blades etc etc out there but they wont fit this tool.

Dewalt, you have great engineering people making great products. But a 5 cent washer/arbor spacer or adaptor to fit other 4 1/2 blade choices would really make this Atomic 20V Max saw a true home run! I purchased two of these Units and recommending this particular saw would be a straight forward no brainer.

But blade availability options make it only a recommendation with clarification on this particular saw.

This saw does everything well. When we are talking about the best circular saw today, it is in the discussion. Stable, strong, reliable, and with a saw brake to boot. It doesn’t get much better than this.

I am a professional carpenter and this saw has yet to let me down. Very powerful, has no problem running through the toughest materials such as LVL’s or heavy timbers. The large handles on the guard, depth adjustment, and miter gauge make all operation and adjustment easy and quick.

The blade the saw comes with is ok, but the factory blade isn’t what makes the saw. The led light works surprisingly well and the blade sight window is nice and large. The storage case and rip guide are nice additional features that compliment this saw.

I look forward to the many years of service this saw will provide.

I love the power of this saw. I often use it to rip lengthwise, for long runs that often bind other saws, but this saw cuts right through those moments when shifting my body might pinch lesser saws. The guides are very accurate and with the rip-guide accessory, I can cut almost as well as with a table saw.

Also, though loud, it’s not heinously loud. Things I don’t like: The handle is not well shaped and my hands tire easily. I have above average sized hands so maybe that’s the issue. Also, when cutting in a straight line, I find that I have to apply a fair amount of lateral pressure to the left in order to get a perfectly straight line, which further increases the strain on the tendons, as I have to flex the wrist to the side, while gripping the handle and squeezing the button.

I really like this saw and am pleased with it, but if you have pain in your hands, you might look for something more comfortable.

I bought a new circular saw last month, and would like to say that this is the best one I have picked up in over 45 years of working on job sites. I debated for several days as to whether to just get by with my older Ryobi which has been a good saw for many years, but was just worn out.

I have a couple of battery saws that sometimes are just not strong enough for the job, this new matabo is stronger and more durable than any that I have held on to. This one is surprisingly much lighter feeling, but very strong and such a great cut.

Have been looking at the new multi volt option, and will definitely be working in that direction to change over my hand tools, as Hitachi and Metabo have been my choice for table saw and miter saw for several years now.

I have to say that I am very impressed, and am looking forward to the new tools that will be replacing some others that are wearing out quickly. Thanks Metabo for a new perspective on what is not the same thing in a different color case!.

I’ve had a couple of months with this saw and I’ve used it quite a bit. It’s ate through everything I put in front of it and hasn’t bound up once. That includes ripping plywood, and cross-cutting 2x4s and 1x4s.

I even ripped a 2×4 for giggles and it ate that up too. The included blade isn’t as bad as what you usually get from the factory. The included bag is the best one I’ve gotten so far with a tool purchase across all brands, including the red and yellow brands.

They say it’s the best hardcore diy/entry level pro saw out there, and I believe it.

Excellent saw. I needed a good saw to replace old hand me downs and a Dewalt Cordless that is useless for anything but cutting 2×4’s. This Makita is well made and VERY powerful. It cut through 2 sheets of 3/4″ (1.

5″ thick) MDF like butter. Only complaint is it is heavy – but for my purpose (ripping thick plywood / MDF), that doesn’t matter much.

I bought this recently to cut stair stringers and treads for my basement steps. Having the blade on the left side really helps with seeing the line. The saw is heavy, but once you start cutting it guides through anything with ease.

The only draw back I have so far is there’s no chute to direct saw dust away from the saw. It gets covered pretty quickly.
