20 Best Sauvignon Blanc For Cooking (2023 Updated)

It’s SB, not distinctive, not very full flavored. Easy to drink. I can get better for less. Attractive packaging, I could bring it to a friend’s house, and they probably wouldn’t realize I was being frugal.

Very nice flavors; enjoyable alone or with cheese and fruit. Look forward to sipping more of this when the weather turns warmer but also during the winter as a nice change from pinot noir and when eating fish or chicken.

This Pinot Grigio is super light and refreshing. It pairs excellent with sea food but could pair easily with any kind of food. It has notes of Apple, pear, and tangerine. Not too tart and only $10 at target 🎯!.

Oftentimes Sauvignon Blanc is too lemongrassy for me, though I still like it. Joel Gott’s is delicious. Slightly earthy with no aftertaste. Definitely buying again. Deserves it’s 92 rating.

Fruit driven with subtle oak influences. It’s fresh, apple, vanilla and spice tones goes down smooth. Velvety finish. Pairs great with any chicken and seafood (especially Lobster) dishes.

This was on sale so I gave it a try. Pleasantly surprised by how crisp and tasty this California sauvignon blanc was. Wine spectator shows it’s the only wine in the Top 25 that’s under $15. Worth it.

This isn’t one of those crazy nasty acidic grapefruit Sauvignon Blancs that doesn’t go with many meals very well…. This white is very good for a California Sauvignon Blanc. I served it with roast lemon chicken and asparagus, pita bread and hummus, and it was absolutely excellent and well balanced.

Then, when you look at the price, under $11/bottle, it is an amazing value for the dollar as well.

Disappointed. I bought a case because it was rated 90pts. It’s drinkable but not particularly enjoyable.

This is just an ok Sauvignon Blanc. I liked the initial taste however the finish is almost like a Chardonnay, Buttery. When I’m drinking a Sauvignon Blanc I like the tartness. This did not meet expectations.

We are great fans of this wine and buy it when on offer. However, we were really disappointed with these three bottles. The taste and aroma were nothing like the normal Oyster Bay and we have had to pour it down the sink.

Unable to claim a refund as did not test all three bottles in five days. Did other customers find this ?.

I introduced this brand to my sister and I think her world just opened up. I love the crisp, dry flavor of this wine. It pairs well with fruit or cheese and, honestly, tastes like a very expensive wine for the money.

It’s also a crowd favorite so you can never go wrong bringing this to a friend’s house for a little girl sip and chat time.

We must have had an off bottle. When I opened it there was an ominous pop. Pinot Gris is one of our favourite wines. I haven’t bought this brand before and probably won’t again. It may just be this bottle but I won’t risk it again.

One of my absolute favorite wines of all time. My favorite Sauvignon Blancs are crisp with notes of tropical fruits. This checks those boxes, it smells very passion fruit-y and tastes so bright and refreshing.

It is maybe just a pinch sweeter than I’d prefer, but it definitely isn’t a “sweet” wine. I have repurchased countless times and will continue to do so. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a crisp and fruity white wine.

We have been faithful fans of Matua (regular) for longer than we can remember. Today I went to TW&M to grab a few bottles of ol’ reliable, and WHAT? Empty shelf. Instead, they’re pushing Matua Lighter — $2 more for 2% less alcohol.

Taste test results: sour sensation made my wife’s lips pucker. This is a bad step in the wrong direction, Matua! Take heed.

We think this is one of the best characteristic Marlborough sauvignon blancs around. All the distinctive flavors of the region are present and more intense than other Marlborough “bay” SBs in the $8-$16 range: the passionfruit, gooseberry, grapefruit, citrus etc.

It is not just the the usual blandish light-to-moderate citrus flavor of the typical SB from most other places, so you have to like these flavors. It is ideal with seafood with which we invariably have a bottle, which means that we have tried most labels in this price range.

Maybe the only other type that comes close in intense characteristics that I’d suggest considering is a french varietal called ‘muscadet de sevre & maine’ (sur lees) from Brittany, but it does not have the diversity of flavors.

Let’s start of with I am nowhere near a wine snob. Matter of fact, after this nonstop state of crisis we’ve all been living in for almost two years now has been enough to make the straightest arrow go astray.

At this point this existential crisis I’m obviously blindly maneuvering through has got me over a gigantic barrel of, you guessed it, wine folks. I’m pretty sure at this point I’d eat cat litter if it distorted this absolutely terrifying state of reality I’m being forced to stay present through as if I’m the one who decided to be an adult.

Ohhhh no, I’m a Toys R Us kid folks, through and through. I’m just legally allowed to by wine, such as the one I’m reviewing. And boy howdy, this one does the trick too. At this point I think I’ve burned off all taste buds from the Thunderbird I’ve tossed in the mix lately to spice things up.

I totally give this a7. 3 out of ten. Cheap, does NOT taste like swamp bottom, and absolutely will get you top notch liquored up, after 3 bottles though I highly recommend an adult supervisor. No one likes it when you accidently mistake their coat closet for the restroom.

I mean, am I right here. One and a third thumbs up.

This is honestly one of my favorite white zinfandels ! Very affordable and great taste , white Zinfandel if you aren’t familiar with it ; is medium not too sweet and not too dry. So if you are someone who like more sweet wines but kind of want to start transitioning into dry this is a good way to start ! Love love love their white Zinfandel!.

This is another great wine from the Woodbridge family. A dry not sweet fruity flavor. Great alone or with appetizers, a meal, salad anyway you like it. This is a great choice as a hostess gift or just a thank you for being you gift.

Another inexpensive but not cheap bottle. I hope you try this and enjoy as much as I do.

I cannot stand grapefruit so I never have Sav Blanc. I was shocked my new fav wine is this Justin Sav Blanc. It has zero grapefruit taste. It’s crisp, light, easy to drink. Love it! Pairs great with tomatoes and mozzarella.

If you’re looking for a crisp, not over-whelmingly fruity taste, you’ve found the right wine. It’s affordable, I bought a bottle for $13 and tax at my local H-E-B, worth every penny! It’s almost like biting into a fresh, crisp, juicy apple on a summer day.

it’s light, refreshing, and all around a good wine. I recommend it for first people just trying and experimenting with wine, you won’t regret it!.

So this is my go-to wine. Literally I have a few bottles in the fridge at all time. It is fresh, crisp and not too sweet, not too dry. It’s seriously perfection. The price is good and I can always find at Trader Joe’s.

Seriously cannot recommend more highly.

We have been trying to cut alcohol without drinking less wine. We had read about New Zealand’s incentives to wineries that could produce good tasting low alcohol wines, using innovative techniques. We did a tasting between this wine, Yellow Tail Pure Bright (yes I know it’s Australian), and Matua Brancott light Sauvignon Blancs.

The winners were a tie between the Matua and Brancott. They had that, “in your face” flavor and finish we had come to expect of NZ SBs. We are able to drink them to our hearts content, without getting hammered.

The Kim, OTOH… I think they went a bit too far. The wine is slightly sour and tastes watered down. Maybe they harvested the grapes just a tad too early, to get a lower sugar content. Part of our problem with the Yellow Tail Pure Bright, was availability.

It is very good for the price, so retailers have a hard time keeping it in stock. On a streak of whimsy we picked up a light box wine, Bota Box Breeze SB; from Chile. At what would come out to about 4.

50 per 750 ml, it performed quite well. Better than the Kim, in our view.

Sauvignon blanc from New Zealand is a favorite of mine. Kim Crawford is a great go to wine. It’s crisp, nice citrus under tone to it…. I also enjoy that most liquor stores, wine shops, and restaurants I eat at sell Kim Crawford.

This makes it nice because of the dependability of the product. The price point could be better. There are a few other Sauvignon Blanca that are my favorite and better priced. I find places like Total Wine is the best to purchase at….

but as I mentioned this is a great wine that you can order about anywhere and won’t be disappointed or making the wait or wait as you look over the wine list for a third time trying to figure out one wine from the other.

I’m a big fan of New Zealand Sauvignons and this one didn’t disappoint. Had friends for dinner last night and we polished this off very quickly. Fresh, citrusy and smooth. Really easy to drink, went well with the baked salmon.

Would be great as an aperitif or on a warm summers day.

Everything you’d expect from a good bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. This 2020 vintage, from Brancott Estate pours well, is very clear and has a gentle citrus fruity aroma. It tastes nice and is not too strong to enjoy with a meal at 13% volume.

A bottle, that I’d certainly enjoy again.

A zesty, fruity and vibrant white wine with fresh and varietally true aromas of passionfruit and cut grass. Wonderfully enjoyable when chilled but equally nice when first opened – I tried it both ways and both were equally enjoyable.

Definetly goes into my reccuring buy list :).

A fellow shopper at Total Wine saw the Sauv-Blancs that I had in my cart and asked if she could make a recommendation. She said this was the best she has tried and it’s a crowd pleaser at bookclub and dinner parties.

So, I put my trust in a total stranger and purchased a bottle. My hubby is not a big wine drinker and he loved this, as do I. We will be purchasing this going forward. It’s fabulous! And the price is nice too!.

This is my favorite white wine and has become my go to in white wines. I’m not a fan of Chardonnays. I don’t like the oakiness of them. Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc is light and not too fruity. I first tried this wine at a restaurant and now it is my favorite white wine.

Nothing beats a Sauvignon blanc from the Marlborough region. I’ve had this wine twice in the past two days at two different restaurants. It has a welcoming aroma, a zingy feel on the palette and a lovely finish.

The price is reasonable for this bottle and worth it for a great night or lunch.

This Sauvignon Blanc by INTRINSIC Wine Co is a lovely light and fragrant wine perfect for summer! It is a vibrant and fresh wine that has layers of flavor to it. It’s not like many other light whites that are just one note.

This one has a evocative mix of flavor. I highly recommend this wine and am excited to try more wines from this brand!.

Ok so let’s start with the fact that this bottle is beautiful! The bottle looks artistic and represents the brand’s attention to detail and inclusion. The taste of the new Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect amount of sweet and dry.

I’d definitely recommend this to other wine lovers.

The artwork by @tukeone is unique, modern and so colorful. It’s far from what you might imagine for a bottle of wine! It leaves a massive good flavor in your mouth that takes up all sections of your mouth and tongue.

Not too sweet no too acid.

This is my favorite. I mostly enjoy Chardonnay’s but enjoy exploring the Sauvignon Blanc isle. I’m not into a strong grapefruit taste. My criteria for choosing a Sauvignon that day (besides price range) was alcohol content, and this one was >14%.

It’s my favorite (and not due to alcohol content), it is just the right amount of grapefruity-ness, crisp and refreshing. I’m glad I tried this one. I always pick up a couple of bottles when I’m at Total Wine and share it with friends.

I had this at a restaurant and i thought it would be twice the price. Great wine! Had it with some grilled shrimp and scallop skewers.

This surprised me. It has been recommended to me so I bought a bottle. I thought it would rival NZ Sauvignon. nope. Its a little too fruit forward for what I expect in a sauvignon. It has a nice bouquet but its a little heavy which was surprising.

More like a cuvee than a true sauvignon.

I actually really enjoyed this for a cheaper commercial wine. It’s a little sweet, but doesn’t kill you with too much sugar. I definitely get citrus notes in the flavor. Paired great with seafood, but was also equally as good on its own later on.

I would buy this again.

I’m not normally a fan of Sauvignon Blanc as it’s too acidic and gives me heartburn. I don’t feel that way with this one, it’s smooth and flavorful. I give it a four star because it is a bit fruity, but I’ll take that over heartburn any day!.

Perhaps, because alc is 9%, It gave this wine a light delicious clean flavor. It has become my favorite Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. I can say, I have experimented with over 21 different Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, I would recommend you give this one a try.

I bought this wine recently. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was. The taste was awful! I hate spending my hard-earned money on a wine that taste like. I can’t even describe it. Sour grapes!!! Don’t believe the hype.

This magnificent Arkansas waterfall of flavor is unparalleled by any of the other Sauvignon Blancs. In fairness, I usually get a nice box of Franzie or Glen Ellen to top off the evening with. However, upon discovering this blend of Boones Farm seasoning with a touch of Eastbound and Down class, I have decided the additional $1.

02 per bottle is worth the spend. The days of being on the bottom shelf should be over by the oppressive $10+ price points. I would encourage you to rise against the resistance of the unclassy wine section and give this masterpiece a try.

The bar set for sub $10 wine is pretty low (drinkable vs. un) and this wine exceeds by a mile. I am an avid SB lover and I would put this up there right in the middle of the pack, with bonus points for price.

Monkey bay is extremely drinkable, without the sharp acidity of budget wine. It is medium bodied, balanced – slightly sweet, floral and fruity. Its complexity varies with temperature. For me, ideal temp is around 54 degrees (use a digital kitchen thermometer).

Too cold and you lose all the nuance of the the floral and fruit notes. A must buy for great table wine that tastes better than those 2x the price or more!.

I don’t expect the colours that Monkey Bay brings at this price point. but it’s elevated aspiration pours lively flavours onto your palette where others fall flat. it’s a note down perhaps from Oyster Bay.

but very enjoyable. It’s definitely a “return to” wine for me in a field of ho-hum higher priced Marlboro whites.

Wow, What a Great Suprise!! I totally Loved each and every wine made by FitVine! And its true, I didn’t experience any headaches or after effects commonly experienced from typical wines and their unhealthy additives, sulfites, chemicals, etc.

I could truly taste the difference, so crisp, clean, fresh and fruity! My favorites in order would probably have to be as follows: RED: 1) Cabernet Sauvignon 2) Pinot Noir WHITES: I would have a hard time picking there as so completely different and Loved Both! But if I had to chose probably 1) Chardonnay 2) Sauvignon Blanc! If you’re at all hesitating, you really need to just DO IT.

I grew up just south of wine country in California. My Mom loved good wines and always looked for the best wines to serve guests. I grew up with a bit of a palate for wines and I am really picky. So, when I saw the FitVine products I was really skeptical.

I’ve tried other wines that are lower in alcohol or sugar and they never taste like good wine AND no matter how much they try to convince you they are never dry (they are sweet). This wine was the exception.

I ordered the Sauvignon Blanc and fully expected to end up using it for cooking but instead I found it to be delicious and quite dry! It has a nice dry fruit taste up front with a tiny touch of steely back taste.

It is not the lightest Sauvignon Blanc I’ve had but it has excellent balance. I’ll be ordering more! Thanks FitVine!.

I was excited to purchase this after some friends told me how delicious this wine is & also the sales lady in the store also told me it was one of her favorites. I had told them all that I was looking for a soft, mellow, lightly oak tasting chardonnay without the tart, crisp, mineral finish.

Well, they steered me in the opposite direction with this wine as it was totally what I don’t like in a chardonnay. I thought it was quite bitter tasting & my dinner guests didn’t care for it either.

The mineral notes were so overpowering & there wasn’t anything soft or oaky about it. Quite a disappointment!.

I normally don’t review wine but I felt that this one was pretty good. I’m not a wine guy myself per say but I’ve dabbled in some reds and Recently found myself looking at some whites. This wine was probably one of the better ones that I’ve ever had.

It’s a great price really well rounded and goes really well paired with a nice dinner. I had pork it paired very nicely. I would highly recommend if you don’t want to splurge on a hirer end bottle but still want really good quality for a really reasonable price.

This chardonay is not your typical California Chard. The body is somewhat light, reminiscent of a French white. The flavor starts off with tart green apple that subsides to a nutty flavor on the way down.

The finish is mildly buttery with a slight note of oak aftertaste. It’s enjoyable, but the flavor profile can wear on the senses by the end of the 2nd or 3rd glass. I’d give it another shot and pair it with some light brie the next time.

One can see where the name comes from (Pomelo is Spanish for grapefruit) and that comes through distinctly in the flavor profile. I have purchased a different vintage of this wine in the past and it was a very similar product.

Also one time, we got a package from a high end delicatessen with this wine included. Very good price for the quaality.

Just became of age- don’t know where to start with wines. This wine is very lemony compared to the others i’ve tried. Tastes expensive, don’t know how else to describe it. I love it and it’s not an offense taste or smell.

Nice crisp sauve blanc with citrus notes. Hales from a smaller winery in Napa Valley. We discover this wine 10+ years ago. Always great year after year. Pleased that Total Wine carries it.

I Love Rombauer . They did not have the Chardonnay so I thought I would try the Sauvignon Blanc and loved it. Love the delivery service. They are always so kind .

Bright, fresh, crisp, great acidity. A little more tropical fruit than citrus, great balance. I was prepared not to like this as much as my ‘go to’ Sauvignon blanc, Cloudy Bay, but this is right up there with it, and is at the same price point.

As the summer season approaches, I will have this again.

This wine was awful – we couldn’t drink it and dumped it out. Very unfortunate as I had been excited to try it. The nose was like rotten eggs – very sulfuric.

What you need to know before you buy this wine – dry farmed wines are generally lower in alcohol and sugar. They are younger wines, lighter in body, with a clean taste that does not leave heavy, residual residue lingering on the tongue.

To date, they are only produced in Europe and difficult to find in U. S. wine and spirit stores. You can mail order this type of wine from an handful of companies that specialize in dry farmed wines, but you’ll pay a hefty price.

I am a red wine lover. Wanting and needing healthier red wines, I’ve tried hundreds of dry farmed wines from all over Europe, and they are hit or miss. I was lucky enough to read an e-newsletter from Total Wine & More, featuring the HoM vintner.

I was excited to have found a dry farmed, organic wine in a local store. I did read customer reviews, and with a leap of faith, I bought both the HoM cab sauv & merlot. I’m happy to share both wines were excellent tasting and a great value.

I’ve paid 3x the price for mail order dry farmed wines that were not nearly as delicious, and not organic. Upon opening the HoM cab sauv, there is no aroma. However the first sip is bursting with flavor.

I found the cab sauv to be perfectly balanced for my tastes – a great sipping wine. It has a smooth mouth feel, medium level of fruit, not overly acidic, leaning toward the dry side. The cab sauv is clean, soft and highly enjoyable.

Upon opening the HoM merlot, there is a familiar sweet aroma. I found the merlot to be fruit forward, slightly jammy but very dry (dryer than the cab sauv). The merlot leaves a light, lingering residual on the tongue, which is more typical of modern U.

S. farming practices (and may be more enjoyable for individuals who enjoy this style of wine). I preferred the cab sauv over the merlot but if you like more fruit and aroma, go for the merlot. I would like to personally thank the HoM vintner for producing healthier, great tasting wines, and thank Total Wine & More for making it readily available to the public.

I’d also like to encourage people to choose health when choosing wines.

My wife tried it and found it to be undrinkable and she had previously said she could drink any red wine, not being picky. Hom proved her wrong. Having purchased half a dozen bottles before we knew, we looked to get rid of them.

We brought them to her parents who are avid wine enthusiasts. Their assessment was the same. Stinky faces all around. Now they have four bottles to pawn off on people they don’t like.

I bought a bottle after tasting it in the store because I liked the taste, even though I’m a bit cautious about organic wines sometimes. I mean, I really like the idea and I usually try to incorporate more organic products in my diet but unfortunately, a lot of the organic wines I tried were just not very good.

This one I really liked, it’s crisps and light, not all creamy and oaky like some California chardonnay. All in all, a solid value, I will buy it again.
