20 Best Sauerkraut For Gut Health (2023 Updated)

I have been using this for almost 2 years, I really like the flavor, not too salty or vinegary, it has a nice little crunch but not too hard. I’ve had H pie Laurie for many years and this has helped keep it at bay along with probiotics, and moringa.

It is a little expensive because of the shipping. But to me it is so worth it. I would definitely recommend.

Since getting an influenza in 2014, I eat sauerkraut to maintain happy stomach flora that keep my neighboring lungs healthy. I stumbled upon Hamptons Brine Classic this month during the Corona virus pandemic.

I have fallen in love with this superior product. It is simply the best preserved cabbage I have ever tasted. Given that the recipe is a classic Russian recipe, and my ancestry test declared me 100% Eastern European, I think all of my bodys cells are basking in profoundly positive cellular memory when I eat this.

I would eat this food at every meal if I could. I have never reviewed any food product before.

Wow. Really yummy. Better than Goldmine and slightly better than Superkraut’s. I’m on my 2nd jar of the Classic and it’s about as perfect as you can get. The texture really sets it apart. It’s more of an irregular chop rather than shredded and it’s crunchier.

Also the brine is not overly sour, and no single taste note dominates it. It’s the only brand with brine I can drink without getting nauseous. I definitely recommend it for people who don’t want to make their own, and for anyone who wonders what the big deal is with raw, fermented kraut, this is a good one to try because it’s a bit less expensive than the others.

Including the fresh ones from WF and Mom’s Organic.

This juice is fermented not brine cured. I enjoy good flavor, I certainly would buy this by the gallons. Its too expensive; $12 for this little bottle? Id easily swap this for iced teas!

I love the taste of this and love that it is so healthy for good gut bacteria, it is also works like a laxative for me. I add it to my green smoothies and drink it straight sometimes

Of all the brands of Kvass, specifically fermented cabbage juice, and all the flavors offered by Hamptons Brine, I love this particular brand and flavor. The touch of kale is not overpowering, but a nice accent.

Drinking one ounce with each meal has helped to get me off of all gerd medications after my doctors were totally unsuccessful getting rid of my stomach pains with H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors.

I cant make the claim that this or any product has cured my reflux, but I can tell you that whenever I temporarily stop supplementing with fermented cabbage juice, my stomach pains come back. For anyone who enjoys fermented drinks, this product is very good.

Some people, however, upon first trying a fermented juice do not care for the taste. I would say that if you like kombucha, you will probably like kvass; however, this type of fermented drink is not usually chugged by the cupful — it is most useful as a small-serving digestive aid before or after meals.

Its crunchy, not soggy like most sauerkraut, and it keeps for so long. I eat it as a side dish with whatever Im cooking that day. As long as I eat a bit of this stuff a day I have no reflux issues. I love this stuff.

I forgot to buy my sauerkraut for my annual meal of pork & sauerkraut to bring luck for the year, so rushed to the grocery store to purchase. I could not find what I normally buy but noticed a butcher talking to another customer & showing him a bag of kraut.

I picked one up, read the label, & decided to try. It was the BEST sauerkraut I have had!! I will never buy any other brand! In fact, I will be purchasing a bag every month to enjoy.

Had my first taste when I was up in Ohio and fell in love with the flavor and crisp texture. Sadly I wasn’t able to find it anywhere around my area in Florida. When I discovered that it could be shipped I immediately placed an order for the whiskey dill and the garlic.

This is good refrigerator sauerkraut! Not as sour as the varieties made with vinegar. Good sauerkraut makes its own sourness WITHOUT vinegar. You’ll only find this in the fridge section. It’s a little pricier than the canned varieties, but it’s worth it.

Good tip: cook lamb chops or sausage in this product with just a few caraway seeds thrown in for fun. Add Stock of your choice. I make kraut, and this brand tastes homemade. Mine isn’t as good as Bubbies.

This is the best store bought sauerkraut, and it’s so good for the digestive system. It’s close to homemade. Price point is high. So I tend to buy the store brand organic when available instead.

This brand of sauerkraut is PASTEURIZED. That means NO probiotics or enzymes can survive the pasteurization process. I’m on a raw food diet and am always on the lookout for truly raw foods. Bubbies is not that.

My mom and dad used to make their own sauerkraut. They had a shredder board approx. 5 ft. long, a wooden barrel, a board to put on top and a heavy rock to weigh everything down. In the fall, they would go to a local farm and buy a lot of cabbage and then proceed to make sauerkraut.

OK, yes it costs a little more than the standard sauerkraut you get at the grocery store in the plastic bag, but it tastes amazing, is in a glass jar (that is a big plus) and is organic. so glad I found this product.

I always buy this brand as once opened, it seems to last for ages if kept in the fridge. It has a fairly strong flavour, but it’s very good quality. I’m not sure it’s good value, but it’s a brand I’ll always buy if available.

I have been trying to find a decent sauerkraut after one that I was using for years changed it’s formula. I thought I would try the Biona Sauerkraut – Organic. and wow, we have found our new supply.

I use this product with grilled bratwurst and knuckled pork. It is a fine additive.

This is 16oz? Oh boy, it looks more like 6 oz! This jar is smaller than my VCO jar which reads 14 oz and is much taller. Eden sauerkraut says 18 oz and is at least double the size of this. Too expensive for the small amount you get.

That’s nick 1 star. Nick 2 more stars for taste: it is way too sour and tangy, and for this: after 2 bites, it caused a gastric reaction. I just don’t know about this. That’s not a food I want to store.

It’s ok for just a bite but mixed with meat, and is less sour when it is cooked/warmed up. Not impressed. Too small, too expensive and too sour/tangy.

The taste is exactly like the sauerkraut I grew up: tart and tangy. Someone complained about too much water? The water rises to the top but this little jar is packed with ‘kraut. As you go down you see how densely it is packed.

It is wonderful to find a good priced commercial Sauerkraut that is not just “pickled cabbage”. Most Sauerkraut on grocery shelves is made by soaking cabbage in vinegar and salt, which is not the traditional way.

This is fermented cabbage, which is the proper way. ***Note about Probiotic content, Woodstock make no claims on their packaging that their Sauerkraut contains probiotics, nor do the even suggest it.

If you were expecting this to contain probiotics, no offense, but you probably don’t know how to look for foods/supplements which contain live probiotics. There is zero mention on this packaging, and nothing in the description even suggest tat it does, if you assumed, you shouldn’t blame the manufacture, they offer a very clear list of ingredients.

Cabbage, slat, and water is all they say it contains.

I absolutely do know that sauerkraut is fermented, but it should NOT taste like bad kitchen wine! This smelled so alcoholic when I opened it that I nearly threw it out without a taste, based on the smell alone, but I paid so much for it that seemed like a stupid idea.

wish I’d have gone with it instead of putting a single bit of this in my mouth! I bought this because i though the novelty of the carrot and beet would be a nice difference paired with some really meaty smoked sausages.

now I’m going in a completely different direction with my dinner plans, at the last minute. Booo!.

We love this . It’s another “right outta the bag “ product. Our favorite is as a side with baked cod or flounder. Top the slightly warmed beet slaw with a dallop of sour cream…. AMAZING.

This stuff is INCREDIBLE. Now, I AM a beer lover. I have seen some reviews that are not as favorable, but SHEESH! If you don’t like beer, why would you buy a “Craft Beer” kraut? For any kraut and beer lover, this stuff is a must.

And really, even if you aren’t a huge fan of either, the flavor mellows when heated (although may damage the probiotic factor?) This is definitely one of my new kitchen staples. DELICIOUS!.

This is only my second sauerkraut to try, but I didn’t like the flavor of this one at all. There are plenty of great reviews, so I’m sure it’s just a difference in taste. I loved the flavor of the other brand I ate.

This is a wonderful sauerkraut with clean ingredients and fresh flavor. We enjoyed this with beef franks and knockwurst and it was delicious. It was great as when you get it at a game or street vendor and in fact better!!!.

The kraut is tasty – but they are clearly reducing the amount of kraut you get in the jar by adding water and removing cabbage. Call it shrinkflation, but I’d rather know I’m getting a 12 oz of a product vs.

paying for more water. The last few jars I got were only half full of kraut after I poured off the water.

My first experience with Sauerkraut and I am 💯 % sold on it. Fresh, clean, crisp, my digestion has improved greatly. The probiotic benefits are amazing especially with our current health warfare. Excellent brand.

The worst sauerkraut that I have ever tasted. Had an artificial sweet aftertaste even though it said it had real sugar. It ruined the pork that I had prepared in it. Never, ever again will I purchase this product.

Wonderful pickles! Up until this past summer I was able to find these in the grocery store. Did not know how much I missed them until I found here! SO happy I found them again. If you like pickles, please try these, they are the best!.

I am a devoted pickle lover of many decades, so trust me when I tell you these are the BEST pickles ever! They have a unique flavor that is dill with just a bare hint of sweet and the garlic (not overpowering in the least) just makes them indescribably delicious.

They go with almost anything, just for a special touch and treat. Snacking on them alone is my favorite! Even better, Yummy Bazaar has the best pricing on the internet (and they are difficult, if not impossible to find locally), superfast service, and attention to detailed packing which will get your pickles to you with nary a broken jar, as I have had with other companies in the past.

I buy these wonderful pickles by the case. After you’ve tasted them, you probably will, too!.

Good balance of sweet and sour and a nice garlic flavor. My kids (age 5 and 7) normally do not like strong garlic flavored food but they devoured these pickles. The lid nearly defeated us though. It was super hard to open! My husband finally had to put the jar in boiling water to help get the top off.

Aldi sometimes has similar German pickles as a seasonal item that we find delicious as well. I’m glad to have a new source for German pickles here when we cannot find them at Aldi’s.

This is a well known brand that I used to get when I lived in Germany. Bavarian style Sauerkraut is sweet, not sour, and is wonderful with grilled sausage. I also chose this brand because the jar is straight-sided and easier to store in the fridge.

Caution on their jars.I recently tried to open one. As I tuned it the whole top of the jar broke and I cut my thumb wide open. So I didn’t get to taste it. So I don’t know if it’s good or not.

Great taste. Sometimes I just put it on top of a baked potato. Very fresh and no after taste like some brands.

I was hesitant about buying canned sauerkraut, but the reviews were so positive I had to try it. First thing I did was to transfer it into a jar and chill. Later, I tried it, and could not believe how good it was.

One of the best sauerkrauts available. It is delicious, tart, crisp and fresh. It has a decent price point and is widely available. I love buying the glass jar as it seems to stay fresh longer. We love to eat Frank’s Kraut om our bratwurst, in German potato salad and in a dish with polska kielbasa.
