20 Best Sauce For Philly Cheesesteak (2023 Updated)

This steak sauce really surprised me. It smelled like the tomato sauce used with shrimp cocktail, but once I tried it on steak it really was perfection! It’s also delicious on hamburgers!

We absolutely love this stuff! It’s got a cocktail sauce meets A1 meets BBQ sauce. We use it for all our steak meals.

The flavor is a nice vinegar sauce. Has that tartness of vinegar but also has a nice smoky flavor to it. I personally like vinaigrette and salt and vinegar chips but I’ve never been too much of an A1 fan because it does have a very vinegary taste.

I still have it high stars as it’s my husband’s absolute favorite. He feels he can’t eat steak without it.

A. 1 Original steak sauce is so #great on steak. I have been eating it on steak for years. I love the flavor of it. It makes my steak tastes so much better. I also like to put itin my #stir frys. It flavors them really well also.

When I hear “steak sauce” , A1 IMMEDIATELY pops up in my head. Idk if it’s a southern thing or what, but steak sauce is synonymous with A1. Tangy, savory and tenderizing, this sauce just takes a steak from perfect to holy! I don’t even bother with the other wannabes.

I keep this stocked too just in case, and even sometimes secretly put it in recipes it doesn’t belong in JUST BECAUSE !!! Family always wonders what’s my secret ingredient. they’ll never know!.

I have tried other store brands to save a few cents. There is no substitute. My son loves it so much I think he could drink it out of the bottle. Ha. He uses it on everything. The aroma is heavy and so is the taste.

It comes out strong and compliments your dishes immediately. There’s the tang tart taste from the vinegar in A-1. It is the best tasting. Not that I love straight tasting vinegar but it compliments a lot of sauces.

My husband who is a great chef and grill master gets upset when anyone uses sauces on his foods but my son always grabs the A-1. My son who has been eating very clean this year to counter some reactions to psoriasis.

He eats a lot of ground turkey. I mix the A-1 in the ground turkey before I pat it out and make burgers out if it. He loves it. I love the bottle and the labeling on this product as well. The smell of this product hits your nose right away.

It’s not a bad smell of all. It kinda reminds me of a marinade. It’s a beefy,vinegar smell. We use this on cube steaks and make sandwiches out of it. We will cook the cube steak in the frying pan on low for about 30-40 minutes to make it really tender then we put the sandwich sliced bread and put A-1 lightly on both sides of the bread and then put our cube steak piece in between the two pieces of bread.

It makes a really good tasting sandwich.

A. 1. Sauce by Brand Company makes any meal better. It’s not too think. It has great taste. It’s not just for steak. You can add it to baked potatoes, in your burger recipes, and I have been known to use it as a dip for my melted cheese sandwiches.

A. 1 is made with a raisin paste, orange puree, herbs, and spices. Not only is A. 1. delicious but it’s somewhat healthier than other alternatives.

Those commercials you see where at the end, the sound you hear ends up being the person lapping up the sauce. That’s me! There have been instances over bought A1 sauce JUST to eat the sauce alone. It’s phenomenal on everything meat.

Beef, chicken, pork, I even put it on my mashed potatoes. I won’t settle for the off brand no way! Pay the little extra and definitely choose A1 sauce, it’s for your own good!.

This is my absolute favorite for my go to steak sauce. The flavor in this is amazing. My husband introduced me to this years ago and I never looked back. The price is a tad bit hight but the quality and flavor make up for that.

I typically love anything Lea and Perrin’s, and this steak sauce is great! I don’t usually use a steak sauce so I can’t really compare it to anything else, but with that said- it has a great flavor and you could definitely use it on more than just steak.

i found this at wal mart a few years back. it just knocked my socks off. was not too salty, nice and thick and actually tasted like gravy. could use a lil more mushrooms but i add a small can to it. you will never find another gravy [ canned or jarred ] that tastes this good.

i normally buy 6-8 cans when i shop at wal mart. kinda hard to find in wal mart cause it is not in the powdered or jarred gravy section. it is normally on the top shelf. you gotta look close to find it.

if i am not mistakened, i think it is in the aisle with the small canned veggies, right before you get to them. try it and enjoy. GREAT ON ROASTS.

Had this tonight for the first time, on a burger and on steak. I have to admit we really liked it. It has good flavor and the right consistency as a gravy. We will be buying again!

As a steak sauce, it isn’t. For my taste buds, it is very similar to cream of mushroom soup, although this product is a bitter thinner than condensed cream of mushroom soup. In fact, when I opened the can, I ate it like soup directly from the can.

It would benefit from a few more mushrooms.

I am normally a picky eater. I normally don’t like products that sit on just about every restaurant dining table across the country. But in the case of A1, it really is a great go-to staple. There are better homemade flavors out there, of course, if you have the time, expertise and ingredients.

But when we need a sauce when we don’t have the time or ingredients, A1 handles the job, and we don’t have to compromise our flavor experience. I was surprised to learn that while owned by Kraft Foods, and made in America forever, A1 sauce actually comes from the UK.

I buy a lot of generic, store brands. The quality is usually just as good, or at least so close it’s an easy decision with the price difference. There are a few exceptions. A-1 is a big one. No generic steak sauce, or any steak sauce, compares.

This 1 gallon option for A1 original steak sauce is fantastic! This is great for refilling your smaller bottles you leave on table tops with. Same great taste, just a much bigger bottle.

Walmart doesn’t know that instead of shipping Lee and Perrins Thick Worchestershire sauce, they are shipping Lee and Perrins Bold Steak Sauce. They both have the same UPC code. However, ingredients (if you have a thick sauce bottle, compare to the steak sauce bottle) are slightly different, the steak sauce is not as thick and not as sweet.

The manufacturer has changed the product, and the in house people at Lee and Perrins don’t seem to realize what they have done. Looks like the Thick product has just been changed and that’s that. They definitely taste different.

It’s not that the new product is bad, it is just very different. I liked the old product better though!.

I have never had an issue using this product. It always tastes amazing and I always love it!! They are always affordable when your on a budget. It never fails to make my morning better and keep me going!.

This is a very good steak sauce. Full of flavor. It’s not too expensive but I wouldn’t call it cheap either. But you absolutely get what you pay for. I’d recommend this for grilled pork chops too and maybe even a burger or grilled chicken too if you don’t eat red meat.

It was delicious!!! Thank you for choosing me to try this sauce because I’ve officially added it to my pasta sauce short list I have in case I don’t make mine from scratch. It tasted fresh the hints of basil popped in every bite without over powering the dish.

I not only tried it as a sauce on a cauliflower crusted pizza but as the sauce for lasagna! I went out and personally purchase 2 other jars to have enough but I used it in a regular gluten free pasta lasagna, a zucchini lasagna a sweet potato lasagna.

I was feeling like a chef that day and wanted to have options for our whole family. I did though have to blend it in a blender before using though since we aren’t big fans of chunks or tomatoes in our dish but aside from that I didn’t even bother adding extra spices.

The sauce was so good on its own I may or may not have eaten some straight out of the jar more than once for, you know, tasting purposes. HA. The kids liked the sauce as well which is a big deal since they are picking with sauces we use, which is why my list for the ones we approve of is so short.

I also like looking at the ingredient list and knowing what I am feeding my family is wholesome in nutrients this passed the test. So I’d definitely recommend this tomato sauce to anyone in the market for trying it out!.

So good!!!! I made this with fettuccine pasta and chicken. Definitely buying again. Chicken : rub oil generously and generous amount of salt and pepper and also also rub on both sides. Then cook on medium to high heat as a tiny slice of butter on top when almost finish cooking.

Spaghetti is one of my favorite dishes to make. Inexpensive quick and easy. However my husband has issues with acid reflux and unfortunately can’t do regular red sauce. I’m not the biggest fan of Alfredo, this is an awesome compromise for us.

He does not get heartburn hardly at all. And if he does its mild.

With prices soaring we’re having to look more than ever for opportunities to economize, so at least trying out those ‘Great Value’ Walmart house brand offerings makes sense. Some have been “just great” others “just fine”, and a few “just ‘meh'”.

This steak sauce is one of those “just great” products. Look, I’m no sophisticated gastronome or “foodie”, but standing here as I type this with both brands right here in front of me, I would really struggle to tell this ‘Great Value’ offering apart from the original A1.

I have used the GV Steak Sauce for a long time. It is very close to A1 and was so affordable. I bought last month and it was $1. 00, looked to order today and it has gone up to $2. 48 for the small bottle.

For that price, I will just buy the brand name.

The bottle is the same shape an color. The ingredients list is identical. As is the nutrition label. I wanted to believe. I’m not a brand-name snob. I tried to convince myself. I really did. But it’s not the same thing.

The brand name leaves you wanting to lick your plate. This leaves you understanding why steak purists consider it an offense to put sauce on a steak. Interesting. I did a side by side comparison, and as I sat here writing the review, I noticed something curious.

While both bottles appear to be the same size, the A1 is made of glass, and hence it is a little thicker. but not so much so as to account for the 5 ounce difference in net weight! The “same size” A1 weighs 10 oz while the Great Value weighs 15 oz.

Which means the brand name is even more expensive per oz than it would appear on the shelf. But this validates my idea that while the ingredients may be listed the same order, they do not contain the same amounts.

My suspicion is that Great Value replaces a quantity of the raisin paste with corn syrup in order to make the sugar and calorie content come out the same. If you just want some thick brown sugar sauce to put on your steak, this might be OK.

If you’re hoping to save money on an equivalent to A1, this is not it.

I love this just as much as the original. Idk how healthy it is but it’s definitely darn good delicious. I wouldn’t improve this at all. It’s perfect. The taste is bold and it’s thicker than the original which I prefer bc it goes further, lasts longer.

The stuff can get pricey so that’s my only con. I definitely recommend this product.

I absolutely love the taste of A1 steak sauce. It taste like it’s been marinating forever and was made just for u and your thick juicy steak. Steak isn’t the same without this sauce. It’s kinda pricey but great quality to say the least!.

Definitely my favorite nacho cheese sauce. This is great on nachos, pretzels, baked potatoes, and in Mexican dishes. Could be a little less runny if you have any leftover. Great flavor. Affordable.

I must admit, I was not expecting much from the Raybern Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, largely due to past experiences with frozen meals, but I was immensely impressed with the explosive taste and appeal! For starters, the instructions were super simple, making this sandwich a definite go-to if you need a quick meal.

Simply microwave and go! Boom! And the sandwich is not overtly messy, which makes this sandwich ideal for individuals that don’t want to worry about having to clean up immediately after eating (always a bother to waste precious minutes when you only got a small window of break time before work, and you have waste time trying to find the restroom sink to clean up).

But that is just the outward appeal of the sandwich, for the true test of the Philly cheesesteak is indeed flavor, and this sandwich does not disappoint! I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I try to eat healthy, but I admit I have a weakness for a good Philly. So let’s be clear, these are comfort food and in NO WAY healthy, but they’re pretty small in size and definitely less calories than getting an actual philly which would be 2x larger from a restaurant.

I was skeptical that these would actually have soft bread like they advertise on the box – after all, anyone who’s ever microwaved any frozen entree with bread in it knows it basically turns into a brick as soon as it cools to room temperature.

While these fared slightly better and still stayed soft enough to eat, they did get hard and very chewy once they started to cool. The “steak” was strange as it looked like thinly sliced gyro meat, and from reading the ingredients, I guess they add dried vegetables to the meat patty before slicing so they don’t have to worry about adding actual peppers and onions.

The processed and reformed meat was a bit unnerving and considering these still cost over $2 for a tiny sandwich, I would expect real veggies separate from real, unprocessed steak. At least there was a decent amount of meat on each sandwich.

Overall, I won’t be buying these again.

Raybern’s Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches definitely checkmarks the boxes for me when I’m looking for that great, fresh-tasting quick meal. If this were a blind taste test, I would not have guessed that these came from a freezer.

Both the bun & meat inside cooked up evenly in the oven. The bun crisped up to my liking, resulting in that perfect hot crunch from the first bite until the last, along with the seasoned beef slices.

The cheese had a nice mild tang which complemented all components and did not overpower. I do have 2 minimal critiques: (#1) The sandwich could’ve definitely benefited from being served w/ a sauce; individual sauce packets w/ each individually wrapped sandwich (perhaps an Au Jus).

(#2) The amount of meat that is on the actual sandwich is approximately 75% less than the advertisement on the front of the package. It wasn’t a total dealbreaker, mainly thanks to the all of the fresh tasting components.

Would buy again.
