20 Best Sander With Dust Collection (2023 Updated)

Just used this sander on a custom nightstand/bookshelf project. First task was to remove the stain from a piece of butcher block. It took a bit of work even with 80 grit pads but eventually got the job done.

I did find, if too much down pressure was applied the sander would bounce a little even at it’s highest speed. Just took a little trial and error to figure how much pressure to apply. In the end, the sander is easy to handle with one hand and seems to sand quite evenly.

As for the dust take up. That leaves something to be desired. It does contain the dust but after a bit of use, I think the filter begins to clog and becomes less and less effective. I didn’t try to vacuum adapter but may go that route for any bigger project.

Otherwise, it will take a lot of periodic filter cleanings. All and all, I’m glad I went with the Bosch for my random orbit sanding needs.

This sander has no power. Sanding disk comes to a complete stop when applied to the material to be sanded. Also, I can stop the disk rotation in the palm of my hand with no trouble. I would not recommend this sander at all.

Received from Amazon Canada July 20,2021 Ran it for about an hour. Super happy! July 26,2021 after preparing wood stock for project I got out my brand new sander with a great DeWalt enthusiasm, which lasted about 3 minutes when the sanding disc flew off !!! I vacummed the pad and the back of the sanding disc.

Nope. I the tried a new sanding disc. Lasted a minute and it flew off ! Everything else about this tool was 100 per cent. Tried contacting support by email and it was undeliverable. No helpful human contact, it seems, if you have a problem.

Very disappointed. Research says the pad is worn out, so replace it. How can a brand new pad be worn out? Thank goodness I have 90 days to return it if not 100 per cent satisfied. My question is how could a brand name like DeWalt not rectify a problem like this before putting it out in the marketplace.

I bought the DeWalt 8 1/4″ jobsite compact table saw last year and it’s a super tool. A sander is a useless tool if doesn’t hold a sanding disc.

This unit works really well, I have just finished using for an oak table refinish. It easy to hold, with minimal vibrations through the hand. Battery life is dependant on a number of factors, including how much weight is put on the sander.

It runs full speed till the near the end of battery then cuts out. I only wish it were better on the dust collection, especially fine dust. The bag attaches easily and is easy to dump. I would have really liked an attachment to allow a vacuum or dust collection system to hook onto it if one didn’t want to use the provided dust receptacle.

There’s nothing like a cordless sander, and an orbital one at that. This sander is extremely effective and easy to use. It includes a wheel to adjust the speed of the rotating disc, which can come in handy for certain types of woods or desired sanding speed.

I can’t stress enough how crucial it is for a sander to be cordless. You often need to get into odd positions, and have to move the unit back and forth in long strokes. A cord only makes these scenarios annoying and/or difficult to accomplish.

There’s also a nice little removable dust bag, so there’s virtually no dust to choke on coming from this sander. And it’s very easy to click off and empty. Overall, highly-recommended, very easy-to-use sander.

Sanding isn’t hard with an electric sander but this makes it very easy. The sander is very well balanced and the lower height really does make controlling this sander easy. I’ve used this for a few woodworking projects and it’s very fast and effective.

Well, understanding the amount of wood I’m sanding. I know battery life is an issue and that’s partially due to the fact it’s constantly running but I can get over an hour out of a 5ah battery. Remember, though, that I’m having to stoop to change paper for a few minutes here and there.

Now as far as does it actually work well, it does. It’s fast and leaves a smooth even finish even when sanding against the grain. I haven’t had to go back over anything because it left sander marks.

I own a lot of Black and Decker 20V MAX tools, so I was happy to find this orbital sander that comes with yet another battery and can use the batteries I already have. Unfortunately this model doesn’t seem to be that easy to find at most retailers; I’m not sure why because it’s a good one.

The sander works well. It comes with two sanding pads to get you started (these are hook-and-loop style, with 8 holes). The suction works well and puts a fairly large percentage of the dust into the little attached bag.

Of course, you still need to have dust management in your workspace, but it reduces the mess significantly. The ergonomics are fine. pretty much what you expect for an orbital sander. The battery adds some bulk when compared with corded ones, but of course it’s very convenient to not have the cord to worry about.

I wouldn’t say it’s particularly long-lasting or powerful, but it gets the job done. Actually, the long-lasting part appears to be a choice on the part of Black and Decker. They make 20V MAX batteries with much larger and more capacious than the ones that comes on the power tools.

You can get them if you buy their yardwork equipment. For example, an electric weed-whacker. They are all compatible so you can get much longer work time if you use one of those. What I really have is a bunch of batteries all in chargers that I switch out whenever I run out.

If I was a full-time woodworker I would use a corded sander, but this is great for the weekend warrior.

This product is not good. I feel like for a tool that is used for sanding, it would live up to expectations. I got this for my girlfriend for Christmas bc she wanted to fix up some old furniture. We have only gotten to use it a few times and everytime it just shuts off after a few minutes.

It started out at like maybe 15 minutes of use and now just doesnt even want to turn on. We make sure the charger is fully charged and even try to use it in cooler weather. The thing stops and isnt even hot.

I have always been told that black and decker was the best to go but now I am seriously rethinking this. I am a very disappointed customer and of course now I have a very upset girlfriend that has now decided to give up on something she was becoming very invested in.

So no I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone!.

Works pretty well. It is a strong and powerful tool. For any battery powered tool, one cannot use the tool for too long. I think, this one works for more than 15 minutes in one full charge. This is enough for my work.

Moreover, I have several BLACK+DECKER batteries that I always keep charged. The sander can be handled easily. The dust collector works pretty well.

I needed a sander to pre a lot of varnished doors and trim for painting. I already had a cordless random orbital sander from another brand but it just wasn’t up to the task. I picked up this Craftsman sander and it did not disappoint.

It has the power to cut through the toughest surfaces. The front grip is easy to hold and manuveur with little vibration transmitted to your hand and arm, and the sander is light enough that you can use it overhead without a lot of fatigue.

Since them, I have used this sander for several other projects and it continues to perform well. While it would be nice not to have to deal with the cord, you get used to it and a random orbital sander is one of those tools that needs the power of an AC motor.

Being corded let’s me tackle big sanding jobs without having to stop to change or perhaps charge a battery.

I bought this sander to replace an old, cheap sander I’d been using for a few years. This sander definitely powers through any of the work I threw at it in a much more comfortable fashion than my old sander.

This one really doesn’t transfer much vibration at all into my hand, making it pretty easy to sand large projects without needing many breaks. My only real issue with this sander is that it’s tough to keep a vacuum connected to it.

You pretty much have to jam your hose onto it, and either rely on suction and a free hand to hold it on, or duct tape it in place. It would be great if Craftsman would make a locking attachment that uses the same type of connection the included dust bag uses.

All-in-all, it’s a great sander that I’d recommend to anyone who needs one.

This sander stacks up to any of the other name brand orbital sanders. Performs great. The only thing I would change is that the neck was a little longer so that I could fit my hand to grip it. I like to switch up my hand position from holding it on top to holding it sideways by the neck of the tool between the top and lower body.

That seems to be the case with all orbital Sanders these days.

I really like this orbit sander. I’ve been using it for about 5 years now and it is still going just as strong as ever with no issues. The size is great – I have somewhat smaller hands for a man and have no problems using it.

Vibration is minimal so it is comfortable to use for longer periods of time. Hook and loop system hasn’t worn a bit. Overall, this tool does exactly what it’s supposed to do and it does it well. My only complaint – and my reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 – is that the dust containment leaves a bit to be desired.

Yes, there’s a collection port and a collection bag on the port. With just the bag attached, you’re going to have a big mess on your hands anyway. You definitely need to hook up to a vacuum if you’re using indoors.

Even with a vac, things can still get a bit messy. But the bag doesn’t do much at all. Again, it’s a very small complaint in the bigger scheme of things. The tool itself is top quality and a workhorse at that.

I’d absolutely buy again and would (and have) recommend to friends.

I’ve wanted a DeWalt orbital sander ever since borrowing one from a pro friend. It has power to quickly do any sanding job, it is balanced in the hand, and the velcro-style sandpaper holder works well.

I have smaller hands and it’s still lightweight enough for me to use skillfully. One of my favorite features is the dust collector bag, which attaches firmly to the sander and does NOT leak any dust! (The other is its storage bag, roomy enough to hold extra sandpaper and more.

) I’ve used this for home improvement projects such as preparing walls and wood trim for painting, and sanding down old doors to fit better in their frame. I haven’t yet used it for refinishing furniture, but that will be next! Bottom line: lightweight, easy to handle, well-balanced and powerful.

And the price was good for a brand new tool.

Bought this to smooth pressure treated wood that I had covered with MH spackel. After a few minutes the sandpaper flew off and it’s replacement did the same. I thought it was because of the spackel, so I put the sander aside and waited until I needed to sand some unspackeled wood.

When I tried the sander again, the sandpaper came off after a few minutes. I contacted Dewalt customer service thinking that the hook disc on the sander had worn and lost its grip. They quickly sent me a replacement disc.

This new disc also wouldn’t hold the sandpaper for any length of time even when I was sanding clean wood. I contacted the Dewalt service center nearest me and they created a UPS label for me to send the sander to them.

I reasoned that this must be a common problem and that they must have an improved hook disc. The response was to send me a new sander, which won’t hold a disc. Maybe their own brand of sanding discs will work better.

I am awaiting a couple of new discs and will try their sandpaper when I get them. I hold out little hope. Although the company has been responsive, the product is flawed. Unless they improve the disc, I would never recommend this product.

Love the hook & loop, 2amp motor seems powerful enough for my hobbyists needs. Cord length fine & the vacuum bag is a nice feature. Price point is $10. 00 less than box stores! No more sticking wooden doors!.

After getting this I started sanding my 55 gmc truck down to metal. Ive put many hours on this sander and it seems to be holding up great. Definitely worth it, especially at this price

I bought this sander over two years ago. I have been removing 3 1/2 inch tounge and grove hardwood slats from my grandparents old home. This slats are over a 100 years old and are mill cut. I have used this sander to remove old paint from the slats, plus clean the backside of them by sanding.

It has held up great. Reason I did not give it a five, because the dust collector kept coming off during sanding. So I tossed it and used only the extension pipe. After continued sanding daily, it died after two years.

Plan to order another one.

I bought this because my Porter Cable 7345 Variable speed sander, that I’ve had for 20 years, switch was acting up. I couldn’t find the switch I was looking for, so decided to give this sander a shot for the price as a back-up.

I was surprised. The dust collection on this works surprisingly well. It’s easy to empty also. It is comfortable for me to handle but I have large hands. Don’t know if someone with smaller hands would feel the same.

I give the vibration level and the noise level both a 6 on a 10 scale. I tried it with 120 and went to 150 grit then put a finish on the pieces. No swirl marks or very few. After a couple of weeks of use it worked so well I ordered another so I don’t need to keep switching disks.

Although, that is quick and simple. I like the hook and loop paper better than the adhesive backed sandpaper. Good Value. Anything that helps with sanding is a good tool.

Great tool but the dust bag sprung a leak on the first day of using it to sand my deck. I don’t remember snagging it on anything but now the dust blows through the hole until there’s enough in there to clog the hole up.

Probably could just tape it up but it’s a little disappointing.

If you need something cheap to get you through a small project this will just do it for you. Have had to replace it twice now, both times, the base has come loose and motor slowed down. Overheats, doesnt seem to separate and filter the dust very well which may be one of the main issues.

When I say it overheats, it gets HOT even though the body. If you plan on using a sander for more than one small project I would buy anything else. Planning to hopefully be able to trade this in again for a Ridgid at double the price.

Many reviews on woodworking sites I have found say it is a good value and should last for someone who works on occasional projects. Again, I wouldn’t throw your money away on the Ryobi, not one has lasted longer than a month.

I mistakenly purchased a battery powered oscillating sander which runs through batteries faster than I would have liked, so I eventually decided to hop on the corded sander train. After looking at all my options, this was the only that stuck out because it is shaped more like the Festool that everyone seems to be using.

Holding this sander is incredibly comfortable with a natural 2 handed operation and trigger lock. Speeds range from hardly moving to incredibly fast. I haven’t spent a ton of time with it but speed 5 is perfect for 60-80 grit rough sanding, then as the grit increases it’s best to lower the speed to get a very smooth result.

I have not used the included dust filter, instead I purchased a Dust Right FlexiPort and with a bit of duct tape it has a perfect fit to this sander and collects 99% of the dust. Overall this seems like the perfect sander for a very reasonable price.

I see no need in the future to replace this model, just the Velcro pad as needed.

Bought this to replace an Erbauer ERB106SDR which died after about 4 years of use. Suspect it is the brushes which aren’t replaceable on the Eebauer. Makita plus points: (1) quieter than the Erbauer; (2) lighter than the Erbauer (3) sands as well as the Erbauer despite 200W (vs 240W for the Erbauer) Negative points: (1) Cord is 190cm long which is mean.

I have to use an extension lead when sanding above head height. The Erbauer has a 320cm cord. (2) Came with a 13amp fuse. way too high for a 0. 9A motor. replaced it with a 2A fuse. I think Makita should change down to a 3A I use the sander with a industrial vacuum as I’m always working in old houses and surfaces may include lead paint (Always wearing a N95 mask, goggles and ear defenders).

The dust extractor exhaust is 22mm diameter for those that need an adapter. There is no adapter supplied with the unit.

Only used for one job so far (‘flatting’ old paint on two large windowsills prior to repainting). This was about 1 ½ hours of work and the sander performed admirably, using a 120 grit sheet. The result was very smooth and the machine was easy to use: little vibration and well-balanced.

The sander appears to be well-made and definitely Makita trade quality – manufactured in USA which is unusual in my experience. The only slight drawback is the relatively short cable but an extension lead can easily resolve that.

Although Powertool World don’t sell them, it’s worth buying some pad savers to take the brunt of the shearing force on the ’hook-and-loop’ sanding pad fixing. They are cheap and disposable compared with the circa £20 cost of a new pad of you wear that out.

I was very surprised by the power that this little orbital sander has , considering it is cordless. I was also delighted by how long the battery lasted. I can’t say that it would satisfy a construction worker who needed one everyday , but as a homeowner who has occasional projects around the house , it was well worth the money.

First Im a longtime black and decker product fan. Im now switching to their cordless versions, this sander was put into service a few hours after arriving! Perfect for the job!

Seems to work and look as good as a new one. Time and use will tell. You just don’t get the nice new original Makita box and packaging that you’ll most likely throw away anyway. The plastic case is nice with this one, it actually holds my 1/4 sheet sander also, along with the orbital.

Looks like they designed it that way. I’ve had no issues with numerous reconditioned Makita tools from CPO over the years.

I’ve been searching a long time for a good quality solar light for my home’s decorative tile street address number sign, and I’ve finally found it. I wanted a light with good build quality, be relatively small, be solar powered, and be reasonably priced.

This light meets all these requirements. Now, my home will be easily found by emergency personnel at night. The light can be setup to operate in one of three modes: 1) Green indicator – the light is dimly on (20 lumens) throughout the entire night.

When the light detects motion, it shines more brightly (250 lumens) for some 37 seconds before returning to dim lighting. I tried this mode, but found that the dim light mode was not bright enough to adequately light my home’s street address number sign.

Since this was my primary reason for using the light I did not use this mode. 2) Blue indicator – the light is normally off. When the light detects motion, it turns on very brightly (330 lumens) for some 37 seconds before turning off.

I did not use this mode, because I wanted the light to always be on throughout the night to light my home’s street address sign. 3) Red indicator – always on mode. Bright light of 80 lumens during the first 5 hours after dusk, then a dimmer light of 40 lumens for the following 5 hours.

This was the best mode of operation for my needs since the light was on throught the night lighting my home’s street address sign. Also the brightness levels of 80 and 40 lumens were just right to allow the sign to be easily visible from the street.

This has been my primary sander for years, and I’m very happy with it. Dust extraction when hooked to the shop vac is really good, pigtails aren’t an issue. It makes quick work of my furniture projects.

It’s no Mirka, but the bang for the buck is absolutely there.

I bought this sander after having great experiences with many other Dewalt tools (table saw, circular saw, drill, impact driver, and more). What a disappointment! The sander runs at most for 15 minutes on a single charge.

It pad doesn’t rotate consistently either. Even with two batteries, it takes way too much time than it should to get through a job. I might have to replace it with a corded model, but I’m hesitant to go with Dewalt if that’s the case.
