20 Best Samsung Tab For Gaming (2023 Updated)

Today there are all kinds of crazy tablets out there with built-in keyboards, kickstands, swivels, etc. to which the Galaxy Tab S8 bucks all of those trends and instead focuses on the true function of a tablet and knocks it out of the park! I preface my review in saying in the true sense of a portable tablet this is the best tablet as if you are looking for kickstands and keyboards just buy a laptop.

Biases aside though right out of the box you can tell that Samsung has continued to evolve with their tablets as the build quality is top notch as the case has that metal finish and the tablet is not too light and flimsy feeling like budget tablets.

The overall feel before even powering on the tablet gives a premiere aesthetic. With the actual performance of the tablet though this thing definitely holds its own compared to any other tablet on the market (yes the m1 chip on the iPad may technically be more powerful, but within regular normal use they are near identical).

The battery is also exceptional providing enough power for an entire day of driving that I took it on and the fast charging is an extremely nice feature. Many will complain that it does not have an OLED display, but comparing them side by side the difference is extremely minimal (aside from when using the “eye comfort shield” feature at night if you choose to do so) as the brightness with this tablet is unmatched and pictures and streaming video came across very sharp especially with the 120Hz refresh rate (superior to the iPad`s 60Hz).

As someone coming from the Apple ecosystem I was extremely impressed with the Android 12 operating system as everything was extremely snappy and every app or task I wanted to complete was made easily available to which I had no issues at all regarding the operating system combined with the power of this tablet.

I also do want to mention the cameras as traditionally this is not a focal point of tablets, but Samsung has really stepped up their game with the front facing camera as it is now an ultra-wide camera with an auto framing feature that follows you to ensure you remain centered to which this featured combined with the noise cancellation mics has been great for video calls on the go.

The final item I have to mention is the S pen as I was amazed at how well this worked with it coming included with the tablet as with other tablets usually it is just a gimmicky after thought, but Samsung really brought its previous experiences with the S Pen perfectly to the S8 as it was extremely fluid and I love the mate/rubbery texture to which the magnet for holding on the back of the tablet was plenty powerful as well.

As can be seen I am a major proponent for this tablet though others may say it is far inferior to the more premier S8+ or S8 Ultra models to which in my opinion the only real true differences are the screen size as yes technically the screen is OLED, the s pen sensitivity is better, there is an in screen fingerprint sensor, and they have larger batteries.

However, I can refute the majority of these in that with the screen, as mentioned earlier, unless you are using the blue light “eye comfort shield” setting there is minimal difference, the s pen sensitivity is nearly unnoticed unless you are a professional graphic design artist, the finger-print sensor on the side button works quicker on the S8 in my experience, and the larger battery simply offsets the power to run the larger display.

Thus, if you are looking for a true portable tablet going larger than 11 inches becomes cumbersome in my opinion and any further than that buying a laptop at that price point is the better value with how advanced they have become.

The other elephant in the room is the new iPad Air (2022) and to which is better and with that I will say they are near identical in almost all respects as yes Apple was the first to market, but Samsung has caught up and even surpassed them in some areas.

There really are not many differences so it really simply comes down to ecosystem (iPadOS or Android) as the difference in price is made up on Samsung`s side with the inclusion of the S Pen and twice the storage of the iPad.

Thus, to wrap it all up I really don`t think you can find a tablet on the market that provides a better value than the S8 as Samsung has really focused on the areas of true importance from the feel and build quality down to the elements of performance including the display, battery life, and overall performance.

This tablet is absolutely amazing! Initial impressions after setting this tablet up are that it’s super thin, light and seems very durable with it’s metal frame. It looks and feels premium! Upgrading to this from the Tab S7 seems like there isn’t much difference on the outside but I can honestly say that this tablet feels faster, has a better display, and even sounds a little better than the last gen of this same tablet.

I would say that if you’re on the fence between this an an iPad I would say that you’ll have just as good of an experience in terms of software as Samsung has done a nice job streamlining the software so you can setup and get going in minutes.

I actually like the feel of the S-Pen on this tablet far better than any I’ve used so far. In terms of the pen and writing, it really seems more responsive and to me feels more natural because it’s so much more responsive.

As far as connectivity goes, the WiFi speeds are fast and the reception is overall solid. In fact, one odd thing is that my Tab S7 sometimes has WiFi reception issues in my living room but this tablet has not had that issue at all.

You can easily expand storage on it with the MicroSD and add significant storage to the tablet. I often keep media and photos/videos on one and then use internal memory for apps and games. Many software titles on Android work well with SD Storage and let you configure where media is stored separate from the app itself so having expandable memory is an easy thing to do an manage.

The display is very bright and vibrant and with it’s high variable high refresh rate it looks good and feels good when scrolling through web pages or media. You can attach a second display through USB-C and even multi-task where you can watch videos on one display and do email on the other with Samsung Dex which is not something you can do or even do well on any other tablet out there.

The best part is you can even charge while using the second display all through the same cable, it’s TRULY AMAZING! The USB C charging and data port is a welcomed feature as it charges fast and lets you quickly transfer media to your computer and really as fast as your microSD card will read data off of it.

There is no headphone jack so that would be the one thing I’d keep in mind if you still prefer to use wired headphones. The last thing is how fast this tablet is, apps just snap up when your load them and updating apps used to take a fair amount of time for 20-30 apps and this tablet blazes through them in on a few minutes.

It’s OTA software update only took a matter of minutes also, so Samsung has clearly done things to optimize the software and the processor is just simply faster than any other out there. Battery life is amazing, you can surf the internet an watch movies on Netflix for hours without any problem.

In the time I’ve had with it I’ve yet to run it dead in the middle of doing something and feel confident I could go anywhere with it and not worry about it running dead. The fast charging also helps make that task an easy quick thing when you need a quick boost on power.

Overall, this tablet is simply amazing! Having owned iPads previously, I can say with every bit of confidence that this tablet is better than any other out there right now. It makes consuming media, or doing things a breeze, and with a keyboard (and even mouse) you can have a laptop-like experience.

Using Samsung Dex, is amazing and makes this tablet a lot more than just a tablet replacing many laptops!.

I purchased Thanksgiving Week 2021 and first problem happened March 2022, the charging port pins broke and wouldn’t charge correctly. Luckily I purchased the ALL STATE protection plan and had it sent to get fixed.

Month later the battery wouldn’t charge at all and I had it sent again to fix it. The day I received it back it looked fine but then the touchscreen was no responding. The power button and volume buttons were working but not the touchscreen at all.

I sent it a 4th time to get fixed and returned, the tablet wouldn’t even turn on. There was a sudden white flash on the tablet with black ink cracks in the corner then would stay off. It looked internally damaged but the touch screen had no scratches or cracks.

I purchased an amazing rubber/impact casing for this tablet since Day 1. This is my 1st terrible experience with SAMSUNG and I am very disappointed in the the repair center as well. They send this summary of checklist when they return the product back but it doesn’t look like they actually confirm anything off their list.

I sent my tablet once to SAMSUNG to get it repaired since it’s been less than 1 yr manufacturing but they gave me a bogus excuse that it has water damage inside. Only reason I say bogus is bc they sent me a detail summary stating they are returning back broken only with no reason at all.

I had to call SAMSUNG to figure out why they could not fix it, they placed me on hold for almost 30 minutes to see why nothing was done and claimed it was water damaged. Like I said my table was covered in rubber shock proof casing where only openings is the camera lens and port charger.

Terrible service on their part and if they found water damage, they would have written it on the statement in the summary but it seems SAMSUNG knows and may be hiding the fact there a lot of defects for this tablet model and should just own up to it.

As I said since I purchased the ALL STATE coverage and after several attempts for them to fix it. They are just refunding me the price I purchased the tablet only. I don’t mean to bash Sams Club or Samsung but this has been a bad experience for me.

I purchased a few TVs and soundbards from Sams Club, it still works great for years with no coverage. I see that this may be just a bad manufacturing problem for this tablet model type. Definitely purchase warranty coverage for your devices though.

I thought I had balanced my expectations of this device, but was left seriously disappointed. OK so this is a budget device and I got it significantly below the standard list price due to my student discount and even at that price I was disappointed.

If I’d paid full price for this tablet without a doubt it would have been sent back. I needed a basic tablet to do emails, a bit of web browsing and some reading. For those functions provided you are willing to put up with the sluggish performance it’s just about OK.

If you buy this tablet expect to wait a few seconds for apps to load, expect to wait several seconds when you click into a text field for the keyboard to jerk slowly into view, don’t expect to multi-task or run anything but basic applications.

I didn’t expect a premium or fast device here, but equally I didn’t expect that the tablet would struggle to do simple things like bring up a keyboard on screen. I certainly didn’t expect that it would not even be capable of implementing basic expectations of the operating system.

On a number of occassions I’ve tried using the search feature within settings, on every occassion I’ve been left with a spinning circle for several minutes whilst the tablet attempts futilely to perform a simple search.

Every time I’ve had to give up and use Google to find out where the setting I need is instead. I’ll put up with this tablet for now until budget allows for an upgrade, but unless you are on a limited budget I would stronly recommend spending a little bit more for a more capable device.

Thin, crisp lines and clear graphics. A responsive tablet with a screen that’s large enough for most all uses yet small enough to carry in most inside coat pockets. Charging time is reasonable and battery life is good enough for a long day, about 10-12 hours.

Setup is straight forward except when it comes to transferring data from an older computer, tablet or iPh9ne. There are built-in steps and instructions to help you transfer data external data. Unfortunately it assumes you understand USB cabling jargon.

The instructions only say to you need to “connect” the two devices. Actually, you’ll need to a USB-A Male to USB-C Female cable which is not included. Fortunately, they can be purchased inexpensively: $2-5.

I’d recommend a slim protector case. The heavy-duty protection is only necessary for rough use. I recommend this because the 10. 4 and larger tablets are narrow, thin and can feel slippery so it CAN slip right out of your hands.

The good ones can be purchased on-line, since manufacturers typically sent the good ones to brick and mortar companies. Over all, from my experience, I’d say the device is most satisfactory for my use.

I have mixed feelings about this product as it is nothing but a glorified Samsung phone that is just bigger. Unlike my older Samsung tablet, this product is meant to incorporate all of the successful items found on Samsung Galaxy phones.

However, what I wanted was a tablet and not a super-sized phone, which is what this is. It’s even shaped like a phone. The side controls that designers have included make it very difficult to hold vertically as you’re always hitting one of the side buttons.

And when you grab it by the edge, it inadvertently activates some other function or app that you don’t want right in the middle of something else that you’re doing. I’m just glad it doesn’t have Bixby which I loathe on my Galaxy phone and why I won’t be getting another Galaxy phone when I can afford a new one, as phones now average close to $1000.

00. So everything on this tablet must either be viewed as a vertical object (as it is a sharp rectangle) or in widescreen (again, because it is a sharp rectangle). My other tablet had a squarer screen which made it possible to use for drawing or making a printed page.

With this tablet being so sharp a rectangle, that isn’t possible as it won’t fit any paper. So you either have to cut the sides or the top and bottom. It’s very thin and needs a stand orelse its just unwieldy.

While I got a good price ($199 for having 128 GB of memory) I wouldn’t buy one like it again. Imagine if they took your laptop screen and lopped off the top and bottom. That’s the screen. Too much of a rectangle.

OK, this is the 4th tablet I’ve had, all of them have been Samsung. The last one was the Tab A 2016, so i will be comparing it to that one here. I bought this because of more space originally, the old Tab A only had 16 GB of storage, and 2 GB of ram, and the biggest Micro SD card that would work on that one was a 128 GB SD Card.

I don’t use that tablet of gaming or for school. I usually store a lot of games on it, and read books on it, maybe play a game of chess, and watch my streaming services. Compared to the old Tab A, this one is a little bit thinner, and the speakers are better, the screen is about the same.

It is a little quicker, the battery is where I thought there would be a big difference. But there isn’t? The old Tab A actually has a bigger battery about 1000 mAh, and I put a new one in last April.

So watching movies, or YouTube or Netflix, the battery was about the same? The weight, which surprised me is about the same. I don’t know about the camera’s, I don’t use the tablet to shoot pictures.

Having enough space, 128 GB on the tablet, and I added a 256 GB micro SD card for even more room was great. Having the upgraded operating system was really nice too. But the tablet NOT shutting off when you close the tablet cover, that was a downer.

But even though there’s plenty of space, the picture is good, and the speakers are OK, I’m returning the tablet to get the Galaxy Tab A7. It’s bigger, has 4 speakers which are louder instead of 2 for surround sound.

The processors are pretty much the same, 1000 more pixels, and 1000 more mAh on the battery, and it’s just a little bit thinner. So that will be my tablet for the next few years. If you want to get this tablet, there’s nothing wrong with picking it up.

It should work good for you and do what you want it to do. It’s a great tablet for the price!.

I know when I was first looking out at buying a new tablet and constantly searching for the right one to fit my budget. I kept looking at reviews of this tablet all over social media and genuinely I dont think they give it enough positivity.

This tablet is absolutely amazing whilst many of you may feel its not good enough for fast pace shooters etc it still handles everything else like its porridge. I have no issues whatsover with this product.

The best thing about it is how well it streams and for entertainment purposes. Big thumbs up to samsung on this one! Feels premium Looks premium Responds fast/ handles daily tasks with ease Only thing that I would say is it would be nicer to have abit longer battery life.

If anyone was thinking about this tablet I would say go for it, its an amazing tablet at a great price and whilst it’ll be 2years old at the end of this year its still up to date and handles most task u throw at its way.

The only thing u might have an issue with is fast pace shooters like I said before.

I have been using the Tab S7 11″ for most of the year and have really liked it. I was content with its size, but searching for a keyboard that was not of the stand variety and not a magnetic keyboard attachment was hopeless.

There are times when I just want to quickly pound some keys! I typically have a laptop laying around in the living room, but have been trying to better define my work and living space. So my only reason for getting the Tab S7 FE was BF sale and the matching Samsung Keyboard (exactly what I have been searching for) was really what sealed the deal to give it a go.

I definitely feel like it can replace a laptop if I am to really keep work/life balance in check. DEX mode is great for giving that full laptop feel. I have a Note 20 for the SPen and the same reason I went with the Tab S7.

I don’t use AirPen features; they really just feel like a gimmick or niche use. The Tab S7 FE does not have those features and I have to say I love not needing to charge the SPen. I never ran it down, but I think I was always a little self conscious.

This doesn’t in any way change the SPen usage, still great response time!! I can say if it wasn’t for the sales I would not have jumped in to try this setup out. I am a heavy user of the Samsung Notes App for my handwritten notes.

There are other apps out there that have more features, but S Notes always works and never any palm rejection issues. Loading PDFs and annotating on them is a cinch and something I use a lot. The bigger screen size is definitely nice and the build quality is just as good as the S7/+ line.

S7+ is the only of the 3 with an OLED panel. I have seen so many misprints on other sights claiming the S7 11inch does too, but it does not. The S7 FE does have a better chipset than the S7 FE 5G variant, so if you don’t need the mobile data connection (run a hotspot off your phone) then get the standard S7 FE.

I don’t game or use the camera; I do have it synced to receive SMS and I use that a lot. I don’t the phone calling anymore though, just not necessary. My transition from the S7 11in to the S7 FE was seamless and an upgrade in my opinion for my needs.

Not having an OLED screen is noticeable, but it wouldn’t be any different if I had a laptop.

I bought this open box Samsung Tab 7 FE 12. 4 tablet with Keyboard to replace my old and not working refurbished Samsung Galaxy Pro 12. 2 that I bought back in 2014. The Tab 7 tablet and keyboard all came in the original packaging just like my old Galaxy Pro with all the accessories with no scratches or blemishes, just like new.

I was able to setup the tablet very fast with ease going thru the step-by-step process. At one point, it asked me if I wanted to copy all my information from my Samsung cell phone using the Smart Switch App, but I declined to do it.

Once the setup was complete, I was able to download some Apps that I was using in my old tablet, and I was up and running. The Tab 7 also comes with 64Gb of internal memory. So, no need to worry about memory space.

If you need more space, you can add an additional memory card by removing the sim & memory cartridge on top of the tablet with the included pin to remove it. What I like the most is the style and finish of the tablet.

It is very good looking and thin tablet with no bevels around the face of the display, like my old tablet did come with a white bevel all around the face display for the Home button and front camera on top.

The Tab 7 is all black front display, and you notice the thin black bevel when you turn on the display. But when off, it looks like one continuous display screen. The other thing that I like of the Tab 7 are speakers and keyboard.

The speakers on both sides of the tablet are much louder with deeper base. The Keyboard is very thin and professional looking with precise key stokes. The keyboard has magnets at the base and the back cover to hold the tablet in place.

It also has a place for the stylus where if folds and on the back over with on open cutout for it to magnetize to the back of the tablet. Very neat. I prefer to use the keyboard to turn on the tablet instead of the hidden Home button.

The Tab 7 came with 29% battery when I first turned it on and took a couple of hours to fully charge it. The battery has a better management system and it last 10 to 20 times longer battery life than my old tablet, which is good for watching movies, news, books, games or taking pictures on the go.

Cons: None for now.

The Galaxy Tab S7 FE is an outstanding value. Hands down the best option for a +12inch tablet, especially as it is often on sale and comes with an SPen in the Box. The bad (not that bad): Samsung made a few design compromises vs.

the Tab S7+ to help keep costs down. It does not have a fingerprint scanner, it has an LCD screen, it only has 2 speakers, it has a single rear camera, screen refresh is only 60Hz, the included SPen does not have bluetooth capability, and the processor is mid-range.

None of these are deal-breakers. The good: For the price (especially on sale under $500) these are all very reasonable compromises and this tablet delivers. The LCD screen looks very good, and certainly is high resolution and is just fine.

In fact, it can actually look sharper than the AMOLED panels on the Tab S7+ due to AMOLED using a diamond-shape pixel layout vs. the LCD more traditional pixel layout. If you are editing a lot of documents or reading small text, this arguably is a BETTER choice than AMOLED.

Also, this LCD will not have risk of burn in like AMOLED. Speakers sound plenty loud. The performance for table mode is totally fine, even in DEX with the 6GB ram model (128GB storage and up) is fine.

Battery life is ABSURDELY good. This thing goes and goes and goes. The Tab S7 FE will get one additional major Android update vs. the Tab S7+ as well (likely to Android 14). Overall, this is the best, most capable 12″ tablet for the money.

Just a few minor comments, mainly about the S-Pen (stylus) that’s included with this tablet. I am glad to have a chance to try the S-Pen. It appears to have a flexible nylon nib and motion and/or distance sensor, eg.

when you press a bit on the surface of the tablet the nib bends a little and (as an example) Autodesk’s Sketchbook program makes your stroke thicker, based on the new data. I was pretty much up and sketching right after unboxing, and after setting aside the rather silly (and undocumented) business of “Bixby” which appears to be Samsung’s idea of a virtual assistant a la Siri/Alexa/Cortana.

On my edition of the tablet some of the fixings for “Bixby” popped up unheralded and without prior warning. I chose this tablet after watching comparative reviews on Youtube – Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite vs.

iPad. I think my having experience with Samsung’s Galaxy A5 smartphone was a plus as there is really zero documentation in the box. In the recent past I’ve found it a bit hard to understand how a generic stylus can generate either a very thick or a very thick line on the phone, depending on your temporary choices of “brushes” in software.

(-: Sketchbook employs an arcane method of choosing how to save a drawing,. PNG being the default and. PSD being a somewhat hidden option for export. It also employs. TIFF files internally if you can figure that out.

Placing the tip of the S-Pen close to the surface of the tablet also invokes a hidden icon shortcut to “Air Command” menu – easy to miss in my opinion. And I am still a bit confused about the cost of replacing/backing up the S-Pen, and I think the tri-axial Apple Pencil is evolving faster than I can track it.

As well, with some of the Wacom “Bamboo” styluses the nylon nibs are a consumable? No idea how long they last.

Very responsive, pen is excellent with minimal latency, clean design, easily portable, good camera. I was very disappointed that it was not compatible with Zoom as an “additional device” and can’t mirror or extend the screen to a larger display (wirelessly or even via a physical connection).

Considering these are the main reasons I bought this tablet as an educator, it feels like a bit of a waste! Annoying to have the camera protrude from the back of the device — it rocks on a flat surface and I constantly worry about scratching the camera lens with detritus.

Device also has a tendency to get really hot when charging. That being said it’s a great tablet for simple note taking, Samsung Notes is a great app and despite feeling pretty cheap and fragile the pen works great.

I’ve been using this for over a month now, and I am generally pleased with its performance. For a middle of the road tablet, it’s great. The screen resolution is quite good for watching videos or movies (although I rarely do that on my tablet anyway).

The sound is okay, although when I want better sound, I use headphones, which is my preferred option anyway. I mostly use it for reading and social media. I’ve never used a stylus before, and I like it.

It helps keep the screen clean. It was handy to have the Samsung switch app for importing all the apps from my older Samsung tablet, although some of the apps needed to be reinstalled (I suspect the older settings clashed with the new tablet, but no biggie).

I find the screen shuts off too quickly when opening up my case: it doesn’t give me enough time to swipe to enter my password. If there’s a way to change the timing, I found it yet. But that’s another minor issue.

I can’t imagine spending more money than I did on a higher end tablet (I personally think all tablets are overpriced anyway. ). If I was going to spend more, I’d just get a new, full functioning laptop.

Besides, these things always become obsolete, with deteriorated batteries and functioning, after 2 years or so.

TO ALL FUTURE BUYERS OF THIS PRODUCT AND SAMSUNG DEV PLEASE CONSIDER MY INPUT HERE AS IT MAY REPRESENTS THE SAME ISSUE AS ALL TAB A6 7″ OWNERS: Personally i fall for a trap with this device. Dont get me wrong its of course Best tablet in hardware and just alittle bit of software! why? let me tell every of u before purchasing this and to samsung dev, Take Note! When having a tablet we want big memory! at least android 6 and upper so that we can manage our internal storage to sd card or vice versa in order to gain more memory! Face it, 8gb is not enough as a stock storage without more option given! This Tab A6 7″inch comes with as i said stock 8gb memory which some portion of it is occupied by the system memory that left u with only around 4gb left! This is where the problem sparks!! you can’t change the memory location to Sd Card tht has huge Gigabytes as compared to 8gb onboard minus 3.

8gb for internal system storage which technically the system comes with 4. 5 GB ONLY! No you literally cant change! u will only able to download Apps from google store that dont go beyond ur available 4.

5gb storage left! so having an Sd Card in the tablet is *PLAIN USELESS* as u only allowed to store images, music’s and videos! This have totally HINDERED ALL TAB A6 OWNER PRODUCTIVITY to the point that investing to this tab IS A WASTE OF MONEY!! Not to offence but Why Samsung would make a tablet that only left us with around 4.

5gb of storage? remind all of u SDcard is Useless and most big apps is not allowed to be move to sdcard. Upon purchasing this you will be often stumble upon the system that says “MEMORY FULL DELETE UNUSED APPS”.

Please release an update for this GREAT TABLET! The only Main Huge Big barrier we Tab A6 7″ SM-T285 owners have is THE STORAGE ISSUE! we know that at least android 6 marshmallow or above will allow us to change the storage location! Do something with this problem Samsung as i dont want to feel regret with your product? RM600+ for a tablet like this that runs Very Old Android is a total waste of Money.

This can get me Xiaomi tablet with android 8 and above already!! Hope to see an update for Tab A6 7″inch SM-T285 so that i can say Its the best tablet! I got this tablet a couple of weeks ago, (in white) and I am very pleased! 🙂 I was worried about getting the 7″, because I didn’t want it to be too small and I wanted something great, for my first tablet ever.

Because of this, and before I ordered, I tried to find size comparisons online, to see how big it was. I also watched YouTube videos, so I could see people handling it and the size of it in their hands.

I started thinking, also, that my new Galaxy S10 phone has like 6. 1″ screen and I didn’t want a tablet that was probably only slightly bigger – because I might as well just use my phone for watching stuff, then.

(In my defense, never had one, like I said. Lol) I eventually took the dive anyway, because of an e-certificate I received. I figured: Worse case, it was free anyway. I got the tablet very soon after, and it’s definitely bigger than I anticipated.

I didn’t expect that! Maybe because I didn’t factor in the width of the screen and all that other stuff, but they are no where near the same size. This made me extremely happy! I am so glad I bought it, it’s got a very beautiful screen and graphics, also.

It’s perfect for watching my shows on, and I love to watch it in bed. That’s my favorite use for it. I have always wanted a mini TV to mount on the wall by my bed, where I lay on my side, in my bedroom.

That way, my hubby can watch whatever he wants on our actual TV and I have my own thing – without having to have two TVs in one bedroom. And no fighting over the TV! Now, I might just mount this on the wall! 🙂 I always wanted it to be a mini cute one anyway and I have always been intrigued by mini TVs.

It is not only perfect in every way I need it to be, it really is a great tablet and I am confident (as long as you haven’t had many other huge sized tablets before this, like me) this one will be perfect for you, as well! As I already mentioned, I have not had any others, but even with no other previous tablets to compare it to: No complaints from me, about anything! It was already fast, but I put a 4GB SD card in it (it’s all I had) and it’s even faster now, it seems.

I can only imagine if you put a bigger one in it! They always say, “things seem so much better when they are free,” and as much as I 100% agree with that, I know now that I would have liked it either way.

It’s such a nice tablet, for such a cheap price, that now that I saw it and got to experience it, I would have definitely bought it either way. You can’t go wrong with this one. It would be great for you, and more than any kid would ever need.

For how cheap it is, I would probably just get this one for a child, instead of a child’s tablet, just because of all of the capabilities and the fact that: as long as they took care of it, they could still continue to use it when they were older, instead of having to upgrade from a child’s tablet to a regular tablet.

(Do as I did and buy a really cheap shockproof case w/ a built-in screen protector, like I did, and you won’t have to worry!! it will be protected) I love the thing! Best recent purchase I have made.

I have other products for ereading purposes but wanted one for when I would like to view color ebooks. I loaded MoonReader, Nook, and Kindle. I uninstalled updates to other pre-installed apps I will not be using which even though it does not completely remove the app, it reduced the size of the app.

I only use in Airplane mode when I am reading, and the battery life is great. Only Kindle and MoonReader appear to allow you to store books on SD card. You can read online how to sideload books for Moonreader and Kindle.

Due to the older Android OS you cannot move applications to the card. Samsung should really release a newer OS for this model. A later version OS would permit you to run applications from the SD card.

So be prepared for little to no space for applications, but if your using in similar fashion to me, you have plenty of space for ebooks dependent on SD card you use. Have to admit I am using this with my black and white ebooks now as well.

There is a display setting in the Samsung for book reading, but even Moonreader has a blue light filter in their settings. For the price, I think it is a great value. I do have a S10 and S2 as well from Samsung.

very slim, not heavy, and has a nice screen. It’s good for lightweight tasks. There a few exclusive features that are attractive at first but often are more frustrating to use than convenient. One example is the connectivity to samsung smartphones through NFC and the samsung Flow app.

Connections randomly worked sometimes and refused to work on other occasions. awesome when it works, but simply was not reliable enough to be useful. The other feature is the Type-C port. this is great because i only need one charger for both this computer and my phone.

This is the only port apart from the headphone jack, however, and that wouldn’t have been problematic if the battery life was not so bad. It did not hold a charge from full even when powered down. Some charge loss is expected, but it would often be nearly dead after a day without use when powered off from a full charge.

This means that I couldn’t use the Type-C port to connect flash drives and such until I first charged it up, which means I could rarely just pick it up and get to work. The keyboard went south after a year.

Three keys popped out of the keyboard and the touchpad quit working. I would consider this as a second PC for light tasks. Performance was good, but then I only used it for school (reading and editing PDFs).

The Good: The screen is gorgeous, it’s the perfect size, and it would be great for note taking (which is the primary reason I bought it. ) The performance, for the M3 chip, is quite acceptable for light office usage/note taking (see below how horrible that is!) Battery life and boot time are both very good.

The bad: No 4G-LTE option in the USA. No expansion ports (except for the single USB-C port. ) They surely could have fit a Micro-SD slot in there somewhere, especially given that the device only has a 128 GB SSD.

4 GB of RAM is also “low-end” in this day and age. 8-16 GB of RAM would be a whole lot more appealing. To expand on the USB-C problem; I have tried several different hubs that provide power as well as USB-A/SD ports.

However, I’ve yet to find one that will support fast charging (or charging at all) while using the included ports. Also, I’ve found that the USB-C port is quite flaky. Sometimes, I have to turn the plug over, or jiggle it a bit get it to be seen properly by the tablet.

Sometimes, the tablet flat out refuses to see what’s plugged in in the USB-C port. The ugly: Palm rejection is horrendous, if not non-existent. I have been taking notes on tablets since the very first Samsung Note 10.

1, then migrating to the Note Pro 12. 2. They both had excellent palm rejection, and I never had any problem (other than the hobbled version of OneNote available on Android. ) I then migrated to the Microsoft Surface book.

Its pen was extremely comfortable and palm rejection was excellent. I also have an iPad Pro 12. 9 and its palm rejection is flawless as well. Which brings me to the TabPro S. The pen itself is much less comfortable than the 1st and/or 3rd party pens that were available on ALL of the aforementioned tablets.

On the TabPro S, I get erratic lines from where my palm touches the screen, sometime a line zips across the screen from my palm to where the pen is touching the screen. This is heart-breaking as I’d REALLY love to be using the TabPro S as my primary note taker (with the full-blown MS Office OneNote 2016.

) As it stands, I’m back to using my iPad Pro as my primary note taking device, while holding out some hope that Samsung will figure out how to get palm rejection right. Should that happen, I will instantly be back to using the TabPro S for note taking.

It also seems that Samsung does not have it together when it comes to this tablet. The nightmare reports of Samsung customer service reps saying that there isn’t a pen for this tablet are ridiculous.

Samsung needs to decide what they want to do with this tablet. Right now, it feels to me, like it’s being treated as a step-child or an experiment. It doesn’t seem to me like they are doing much advertising or promoting of this tablet, which, despite all of its flaws, is still a joy to use (for the things that work well on it.

).

It size & shape are perfect for travel, but it’s as temperamental as a valley girl on Sunday morning. You can carefully power off the device, but it’s not really powered off sometimes so that the batter drains.

If the batter is completely dead you have to do a hocus pocus trick to get the bamn thing to recharge. Thank goodness for user forums because Samsung doesn’t seem to want to talk about the problem or the hocus pocus trick you have to perform to solve it.

Other times the battery will be fully charged, but the device won’t start unless you perform another hocus pocus trick. (I figured this trick out myself. ) Final issue is trying to synch Bluetooth devices.

Sometimes it works flawlessly. Sometimes not so much. Anytime I travel now I do a dress rehearsal with the device before I head to the airport just to sure the little ditch is having a good day. All this could be attributed to operator error, except there are forums where other people talk about the same problems.

I’m thinking I would be hard pressed to by another Samsung problem in the future. (3-2-2019).

Right, OK. here we go. The Samsung Tab S5e. well straight out of the box the device looks amazing. I picked up the silver model and it looks so sleek, with just metal and glass construction with no plastic to be seen.

There is a ever so slightly weighty feel to the device that just makes it feel well built. Right staight to the most important part, The screen. The quality is phenomenal, every bit as good as other leading manufacturers (cough wink ipads cough), maybe even better in terms of color saturation.

So if your someone who likes to watch Netflixs or use other streaming platforms to watch your content this device will not disappoint, even in a well lit room the amazingly bright 2560×1600 screen with adaptive brightness is a pleasant experience.

OK so to the next important part of any tablet is the battery. Now at 7040mAh this battery is no slouch, it isn’t the biggest battery but it’s nowhere near the smallest. If you’re a sort of person who regularly checks emails, looks on Facebook and Instagram and just uses your tablet for general this and that this battery is going to last you a long time.

Samsung specify that this battery will last you 15 hours of video playback, but I’m pretty sure that you can make the battery last a lot longer if you setup your device right. If I can give you one quick example I was watching Netflix for about an hour and it only took off 4% of my battery with the adaptive brightness setting on.

Speakers. The Samsung Tab s5e comes with four speakers one and each corner and the sound is by AKG. If I’m honest I was astonished by the sound that came from the small ish tablet, I was expecting a tinny kind of sound with no real base or depth.

how wrong was I. If you were to lay this tablet flat on a table or desk I feel that the tablet actually channels the sound through the platform it’s sat on and really and enriches the base notes of this tablet the same can be said if you were holding in your hands, the way that you hold the tablet really focuses the sound waves towards you and is a really pleasant experience.

Memory and storage. So the Samsung Galaxy Tab s5e I purchased was the 4Gb of RAM and 64 Gb storage version, now Samsung do have one higher version which is the 6Gb of RAM 128gb storage. But it just depends on the size of your wallet.

Now both devices come with an expandable storage slots on the side of the tablet would you use a small pin to open the tray, and both devices have a maximum storage expandability of 512gb. So grab yourself a micro SD card it’s a must, then you’ll have plenty of space to download a series or two off Netflix.

Conclusion, for only owning this device for about 2-weeks I cannot fault it in anyway. I’m loving this thing, for the price it’s an absolute bargain relative to its competition, the quality, feel and finish are easily equal to any Apple product.

If your a Samsung fan and don’t want to spend big money on an S6, get this – you won’t be sorry.

THis is actually a very good tablet. Good screen resolution and colours. Decent battery life. Good memory capacity, and you can also add an SDXC card. Better than i expected considering Samsung no longer sell it.

For me, too big – compared to my old favoured S2 8 inch, and thus too heavy too. But the alternatives are bigger and heavier too. I would have preferred an 8 – 9 inch version. The extra memory – 128 GB – is, imo, a ‘must have’.

I am totally fed up of running out of memory on Android tablets. Why do Samsung persist in selling lower memory tablets? Especially as you can no longer format the SDXC card as internal memory, so have to spend so much time shuffling apps.

Samsung – GET IT TOGETHER – and reinstate formatting SDXC cards as internal memory. Please, pretty please! Almost every other tablet maker HASN’T turned that off.

Many things on this tablet are great – display, battery life, high speed charging and fingerprint security. However 2 issues make it less usable than our old Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T550 and these make the tablet less reliable and enjoyable to use.

1) Frequent freezing after carrying out upgrade to Android 10 meant I had to find out how to flush / clear / delete the system cache. Not an easy operation at first attempt but this has stopped it freezing.

Only did this 3 days ago so I hope this is the solution. 2) Very poor Wi-Fi connection resulting in dropped connections. We first noticed this when challenging each other to a game of Solitaire. Whilst the our old Tab A would always connect to the daily challenge the 5SE would tell me it had no internet connection.

A re-boot would always solve this but I decided to discuss the issue with John Lewis who to their credit did exchange it after the 30 day return option. However the replacement is just as bad and the Wi-Fi connection is always showing less bars than the Tab A.

Putting my hand over the screen at the bottom LH corner when in landscape and the camera is on the left always reduces the reception by 1 or 2 bars. This is well documented on sammobile. com/2019/05/01/galaxy-tab-s5e-wi-fi-issue and concludes that this is a hardware issue not fixable with a software upgrade.

So apart from that it is a good looking and usable tablet (when in in strong wi-fi area of house) and well done to John Lewis in supporting my initial exchange. 5* to John Lewis but 0* for Samsung.

The Galaxy Tab S4 is a great option when you don’t want to take your laptop with you while understanding what it is intended for. The key to this device is its ability to function like a tablet but have the power to function like a laptop.

Having the Samsung DeX, by far, sets itself apart from other tablets on the market. With DeX you can truly have that laptop experience in a very portable device. The Galaxy Tab 4 excels in emails, watching movies, internet browsing and minor creating/editing of spreadsheets and/or PowerPoint presentations.

The Android version of Office is what sets the unit back from being a true replacement for a laptop. The size of the device is perfect for travel and the Galaxy Tab S4 really shined when it came to watching movies.

Watching 2 movies during a recent flight was simply amazing due to the Super AMOLED screen. The clarity of the screen, in my opinion, is unmatched, when comparing to other tablets. The battery will do the job for a four-hour flight with plenty left over to watch another movie.

Samsung quoted the battery lasting 16 hours for video playback which may be a little overstated as I was able to get the battery to last 11 to 12 hours. The S-Pen, which is included, worked great for jotting notes and this too worked seamlessly with the device except in DeX mode.

There are only 2 areas I think need improvement: First: backlit keyboard on the keyboard cover. Everyone who has every owned a keyboard much prefers a backlit keyboard. Second, better storage option for S-Pen.

The S-Pen holder is located on the keyboard and the S-Pen got hung up in my bag several times. Pros: • Screen quality • DeX • Ease of use • Included S-Pen • Having a tablet and laptop in one device Cons: • Keyboard isn’t backlit • Better storage option for S-Pen *I received the Tab S4 as part of the Insiders campaign.

I love using this tablet. I purchased a case with keyboard and can use a dongle for a mouse as well. I use it to draw, play games and like a pc with Dex. My hubby was on the fence about it. Since I wouldn’t need it for a little while I let him use mine as if it were his.

He fell in love with it and even kept it until his arrived! It works great for wifi cameras and working with the online 3D printing programs. The stylus helps with the more precise movements and selection.

Although this tablet has a snapdragon 670 it still feels snappy compared to my old Xiaomi phone that had a snapdragon 660. This could be down to better quality memory, or just a better software experience.

Either way, i threw nova launcher on both, and it gives the appearance of a faster device. Now, moving onto the screen. I’m not a huge fan of the aspect ratio. Movies often end up being letterboxed. That being said, the resolution is awesome, and the fact that it’s a samsung oled should say enough.

It’s one of the best tablet screens on the market. It’s also a very light tablet. Which is impressive due to it’s massive 7040 mAH battery. The tablet is significantly lighter than a modern iPad which is something to take into account when traveling with it.

The speakers are also quite impressive for a budget android tablet.

The tablet is outstanding, one of the last decent tablets Samsung made. Without the AMOLED screen which Samsung does not put in tablets anymore they are just another tablet and nothing to get excited about.

The 4G works great, it is truly unlocked with no carrier bloatware on it. Stay away from “unlocked” ATT (and maybe other carrier unlocked) tablets. There is stuff installed you can not delete and the one I had had a nagging “TV Mode” has stopped popup and if you search this you will find many have this problem.

Bought this on sale after having my eye on it for a while. Was very surprised by the speakers! I love how they are on both the top and bottom of the screen. The finger print scanner on the power button was also a pleasant surprise and works incredibly well.

Of course, being Samsung, the screen is gorgeous: bright, vivid, and large screen to body ratio. The cameras are meh, but I didn’t buy this to take pictures. It’s nice to have Samsung Dex as an option as well, something you don’t get in the lower models.

My only con is that the scrolling in some apps (even the Play Store) is quite jittery. Although the rest of the device is responsive, some minor animations are a little choppy, but it’s so minor tbh.

I would’ve liked to see a headphone jack, but I was glad to have a USB C to 3. 5mm audio adapter included.
