20 Best Running Shoes For High Arches And Wide Feet (2023 Updated)

Bought these to replace an ageing pair of Salming and defunct Salomon shoes. They are a good fit for me, I like a wider shoe with some wiggle room. I’m 84kg so not light on a shoe. Outer is fairly stiff but this makes them nice and robust in the rough stuff.

The sole is fairly stiff too and feels a little unforgiving at first but they are surprisingly comfortable as they retain their cushioning throughout the run. You wouldn’t describe them as plush but they have a nice ride, firm but feels very natural.

My first run was a 12k through undulating woodland and was a mixed bag of mud, stones and roots. Shoes coped really well, decent grip in the mud without being too grippy on hardpack, which can feel draggy if the lugs are too big.

Very supportive, feet stayed dry and comfortable. Recommended.

Prior to purchasing these runners, I had only owned the one pair of trail and one pair of running shoe in the UA brand. So still fairly new to the brand with regards to runners. These are my third pair of UA runners and first general purpose runner and I have to say are by far THE most comfortable and well designed shoe I have owned in a long time.

They are true to size, which is a big plus when you’re looking for reliability when making online purchases. Very comfortable to wear and go with just about anything. I find the cushioning is next level in comfort and I will be coming back to these for my next pair.

Do yourself a solid and try these UA if you’re considering new shoes.

I do HIIT style workouts that alternate between cardio based hybrid classes to heavy strength based classes. I’d been experiencing tight calves for months and thought nothing of them being related to my shoes until I purchased these and have them a whirl! Well I’m both surprised and happy to share that my calves are no longer giving me the trouble they were! These shoes are comfortable, with the best support on the ankle, they come up at a good height and fit snug giving good support for all directions! Perfect for my kind of training especially when there’s some running thrown in ! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a CrossFit style trainer!.

These shoes are CUTE and let me tell you how I can NEVER find cute shoes for my Husband in a Size 15 Wide! His shoe selection has been SO limited since he hit his teenage years and I FINALLY found a store that not only Carry’s his shoe size but also – has clothes that fit him length wise! SO many normal department stores have a ‘Big and Tall’ section and that has never worked out for us.

It’s 99% for more larger people – which is fine, but we need some 42, 36’s around here! So thankful that I found this store! P. S. He LOVES his new shoes! We’ll be shopping here Often!.

I am an Under Armour devotee. When I found these UA sneakers, it felt as if I had discovered gold! I live in an assisted living center with many other people who have medicinal and health needs. We are like a large family.

Word got out that my room is full of pink. So, these UA shoes were meant to be mine! We get many visitors. People always tell me that I have beautiful sneakers. I know for a fact that these are the most comfortable shoes.

I am a type 2 diabetic. I walk around several blocks to keep fit. It feels as if I were walking on clouds in the sky. I truly am in heaven.

insole due to my injury, they’ve been a bit tight (even in a wide show). But even without an extra heel insole, the ASICS are 10x cushier than the Ryka sneakers. Even with an extra insole in the Ryka sneakers (and a wide width), I could feel the hardness of the sole! Compared side by side with an extra insole & the ASICS were the clear winner.

I couldn’t believe how hard & stuff the Rykas were & how it hurt the bottom of my heel with every step. It wasn’t just this model – Ultimate Running, it was other ones too. Failed attempt to try them again.

Shame as their sandals are the best for my heel & arch support – have 2 colors of the Desi. But just the sandals.

I bought a pair of Ryka a few months ago and loved them so much I bought another pair in a different color. These are so comfortable with the memory foam lining, and feel so padded. They are perfect for my fat little feet and they are the shoes when I choose when I go shopping or will be on my feet for a while.

They are lightweight. The tread is perfect on the bottom – no more slipping. The quality is absolutely what I expect. And shipping is so quick. These are the shoes I’m taking on vacation when we’re into a lot of hiking.

I have been wearing Ryka shoes for close to 10 years now! I love the wide toe box and narrower heel. I’ve been walking about 3 miles a day since retiring and my last pair didn’t seem to provide enough support for my arches (I am prone to plantar fasciitis) any more.

Tried these out and much better support! I’m still trying to figure out why my toes tend to move forward when I walk. Replaced the memory foam insert with a less thick one. It helps.

The Brooks Ghost has been a very good shoe. I have worn it for years, and enjoyed the comfort and stability. My foot is slightly wider in the front, so I have enjoyed the fit which gave me the forefoot comfort and the running performance I desire.

There seems to be a slight fit change this year in the forefoot. It seems to have changed to feel longer and more narrow. The shoe almost feels clumsy. Previous versions immediately felt perfect. The previous shape and width were excellent; and movement through my running gate was very good.

But it is a bit different now and not working so well for me, although, I think it will work for many other people.

Brooks Ghost 13 is the best shoe I’ve ever had as far as comfort and ease in running. So I expected Ghost 14 to be the same; but the next model has several changes that make it a very different shoe – stiffer sole, stiff patch at the top of the tongue, the tongue profile squared up, and flat (read “come untied like on Nikes”) laces replacing the round (read “stay tied”).

The shoe is stiffer and seems more primitive. Over all result for me — very sore feet and pressure points on my arches. So I am returning them! Thankfully, for me, model 13 is still available.

I have issues with lateral stability, and was recommended the Dyad by my podiatrist. The Dyad instantly made a huge improvement, and I feel very stable in them. More than any shoe I have worn. The sole is a lot firmer and less spongey, compared to other running shoes, and I much prefer this as it helps me feel more grounded.

I have a wide forefoot, and went with the 4E width. They are wide compared to 4E I have tried in other brands and fit me perfectly in the forefoot. I have a very narrow heal, and the heal of the Dyad is very wide, so a little sloppy and roomy for my foot shape.

I think the Dyad look a bit daggy, especially the blue swoosh on the black pair, but that won’t stop me purchasing them again in the future as they are extremely comfortable and stable.

Caught myself in the rain while walking. I always carry an umbrella with me, so I put it on and kept walking where my destination which was only 10 minutes away. Not too far, right? I thought I can make it with damp/ slight wet shoes and socks to stay dry.

Unfortunately, just about 2-3 minutes later of walking, the shoes start absorbing water like crazy. After 10 minutes of walking, Saucony was completely waterlogged. Not just the shoes, but my socks were completely wet.

This puts in in complete baffle. I know the shoes are not meant to be worn in wet conditions, but absorbing water like a sponge just a couple of minutes of walking on a wet surface? I own lots of other running shoes that are mesh tops, but Saucony is the first one that could not stand wetness at all.

Called Saucony regarding the issue and this is what Saucony told me: This is not waterproof/ resistant shoes and we cannot guarantee of your socks to stay dry. You can “try” to submit the Defect Product Form but don’t get too much hope.

So. only buy these shoes if you are planning to wear them indoors only or only going to wear them when the weather is 100% sure it won’t rain. Otherwise, steer clear out of this. So disappointed in Saucony and will never buy from them.

I’m in love with the new and improved Ride 15. I was down to my last pair of Triumph 17s (as I don’t like the newer versions) for long runs and I bought the Ride 15 after watching a video review and I’m so glad I did.

The Ride 15 is surprisingly lightweight–a huge difference from the Ride 13 that I have in rotation. It has a wide and roomy toebox with the nice snug Saucony heel cup that I’ve come to know and love.

And it’s nicely cushioned without being too squishy. (The cushioning rivals the Triumph, IMO. ) In fact, it will replace the Triumph 17 as my long run shoe. I find myself reaching for this shoe often and if weren’t for my favorite Endorphin Speeds in rotation, it would be my go-to shoe.

It’s responsive yet cushioned. Feather light. I love how it feels at my relaxed long run pace but also love how it performs on intervals, hill repeats, and tempo/fartlek runs. It’s a perfect replacement for my Triumph 17 just when I was losing hope.

And I love the banner RW&B color theme. It’s different than my RW&B Speeds which is nice. Please do NOT change this shoe. I just bought back up pairs just in case but please, don’t mess with near perfection.

Please read the whole review. Short version as the title states is that there is an obvious decline in production quality from the Glide 14 to 15 but I would still absolutely recommend this as a running shoe.

This is my 3rd pair of Saucony’s. I have always had a hard time finding good running shoes as my feet are uniquely flat, but Saucony Glides have really helped me with a lot of my running issues/discomfort! Unfortunately, I am sitting here with the pair of Glide 14’s that I am replacing next to the Glide 15’s I just bought and I must say, Saucony has taken some really obvious shortcuts with this new model.

Since I use mine almost exclusively for running and I replace them about every 6 months, I’m not all that concerned with them wearing out before my next replacement, but it’s just sad to see the production quality start to fall like this.

If you are a more casual shoe user and hope to get a long life out of your shoes before replacing them, then be wary of this newest model compared to the previous, because they definitely don’t look like they will hold up as well.

If it wasn’t for the noticeable decline in quality, this would have hands down been a 5 star review.

I purchased Addiction 13’s and within weeks of casual and careful use the collar ripped. I could not think why this happened as I hadn’t done anything harsh with shoes. Having read other reviews I see that the problem is inherent in the product and has been carried forward in the Addiction 14’s.

I was contemplating purchase of Addiction 15’s but now reserve my judgement until others have reported on their experience with the new product. I love the fit of the Addiction model as I have wide feet.

The soles on the shoes too is commendable – very robust and grippy. Given the significant retail price and the fact that these shoes are made in China, I think Mr Brooks needs to up his game.

I too love these shoes. When I wear them I don’t have plantars fasciitis which keeps me wedded too them. However, they tore exactly where everyone says they tore and it began on day 3. DAY 3! Now, they still work and feel ok, but they look awful.

wear them to run/walk. My nurse friend wears to work. Her’s did the exact same thing. Obviously Brooks knows this is an issue.

Excellent shoes. I initially bought one then decided to buy another pair. They were immediately comfortable. I have “flat” feet and these are very supportive. I can walk for miles in these without my feet tiring.

The only suggestion would be to offer them in some other colours besides black and grey.

I really enjoyed the changes of the Guide 14 compared to the Guide 13, but I LOVE the changes from the 14 to 15 (after about 60 miles of running). I’m alternating between the Guide 14 and 15 now, and the Guide 14 feels flat in comparison to the 15.

The 15 is noticeably lighter and the toe spring gives the shoe a bit more umph and excitement for when I want to pick up the pace. The Guide 15 is a softer and springier shoe than the 14, but I’d say it’s still on the firmer side.

In terms of the stability, I think some people might notice a *slight* decrease in stability, but, to me, it is still just as stable as a Hoka Arahi or Brooks Adrenaline. I think it’s a good thing for Saucony to move away from a posting in this shoe to something that is less obstrusive and nearly as stable.

For fit, at first I thought the shoe was a little small for my normal size. However, since my first run, the shoes have felt true to size. It could’ve just been me getting used to the fabric, but I also think I would be okay in a half size up without it feeling big.

Overall, I think the Guide 15 is Saucony’s best iteration of this shoe (that I have ran in).

I have tried on every kind of sneaker imaginable and just get frustrated until I found these. I am a cheapskate and have never had to spend much on sneakers never was a big sneaker person. Most of my life I avoided wearing sneakers and found them clunky and heavy and I am a person who likes stylish basics.

But I started a walking regime and was picking up from where I left off pre-pandemic however in the past few years I have fractured a few toes put on a lot of weight and seem to be dealing with the beginnings of arthritis.

The toes are really messing up the way I walk and they get numb after a while and they are all misshapen. My right foot is bigger than my left as is for many people. I also need arch support as I realize I am developing planters fasciitis and also noticing now on top of all of these other problems getting slightly crooked big toes and when I looked it up it matched at the beginning of bunions on both feet.

Never had feet problems but I have to admit that I spent my youth for years and lots and lots of high heels as a matter of fact I had a child late in life and realized when I decided to stay home permanently that I had no comfortable flat shoes.

I used to get cramps in my calves when I wore flat shoes because my legs were so used to being propped up on heels. Therefore I now pay the price on top of all these other issues I never thought I would find sneakers that would support my feet on my walks and allow for my knees and hips to feel less painful.

I am a 57 year old female 5 foot four probably about 165 pounds. My frame is small so that is all very overweight for me. I wear about a size 12. I am giving these details so others may relate. These shoes really give my toes room without being too big.

terrific arch support. I will update if they don’t hold up overtime but so far they seem pretty well-made. I typically wear about a 7 1/2 in most shoes but I find that I have to size up and sneakers so that the toes don’t rub but sometimes then they look huge and left foot can be a little bit to loose but these seem to work just perfectly fine.

my feet are of an average width not wide at all and I would say the back of my heel is a little bit narrow. very satisfied with this shoe and it is worth the price for the comfort , Quality and support.

(Sorry for the length, but these were Awesome!) After a lot of research into the best athletic shoes for a few of the physiological (foot and back) issues I have, I decided to try Brooks instead of my lifelong go-to of NB.

Due to high arches and my active lifestyle, I developed Morton’s Neuroma between my second and third toes, which causes ball of foot pain, tingling, and eventual numbness. I also suffer from lower lumbar spinal stenosis and cannot walk on concrete or other hard surfaces for any distance/length of time without developing a back ache or painful spasms.

Recommendation, without going to plain orthotic shoes, was to have maximum arch support, roomy toebox, and plenty of cushioning. Brooks provides all of these features. I was able to walk for a few hours upon the first time wearing them, and I did not suffer the pain and tingling at the ball of my foot, nor did my feet ache in my arch area! Additionally, my back was not in pain; this was a first in years.

Amazing! I definitely recommend these for anyone with foot issues like Morton’s Neuroma, high arches, or plantars faciatis and painful back problems such as spinal stenosis. (At least, they helped my lower lumbar area, but I cannot verify cervical stenosis assistance.

) Finally, I normally wear 8. 5-9, M width. I order 9 in athletic shoes due to feet sometimes swelling after long hikes/walks, as well as allowing warmer, thicker socks. Brooks, size 9M, fit perfectly and give enough room for all of my needs!.

I’ve been running in various models of Brooks Ghosts for years, they’re my reliable go to. I’m pleased that running room is expanding their online colour selection to more of the many options that Brooks sells south of the border! I enjoy the light weight and reasonable cushion of these shoes.

I run everything from high intensity track workouts to long slow runs in them, 5k to Marathon distance. Mostly paved surfaces but some gravel. I replace every 500k and turn them into “casual” shoes. I run a significant amount of mileage, I have worn at least a dozen pairs of the Ghost model shoes out in the past six years.

I’ve tried other models and keep coming back to the ghosts. My only complaint on these shoes is the lace length is inconsistent and it seems to be based on colour of the shoes. Some shoes come with long enough laces to re-lace and do a heel lock method, some do not.

I solve this with elastic speed laces, which also suit me better for triathlon transitions.

I’ve loved Brooks shoes for years, but this year they don’t feel as good as they used to. I tried 6 pairs of Brooks before I found the Adrenaline GTS22 that feel almost, but not quite, as good as my old Ghost 11s.

Wore them all morning and was very comfortable and cool. Bring back the Ghost 11s!!!.

I liked the look of the shoe – all black. Great for winter. The wide width was not wide enough and the shoe was not very roomy for my toes. The shoe laces are a joke! Way too short. I was disappointed that I could not get an extra wide in this colour.

I usually have a real challenge to find a shoe that fits like a glove, comfortable to wear for longer durations, and light. I needed a better pair of shoes to walk the dog as our walks would be 45min to an hour in length.

Wave Sky 5 delivered. I originally purchased a black pair after being fitted by a technician from a running store; I wanted to see if a blue pair was out there. Low and behold Altitude Sports had it, and the blue is a nice pop of colour.

When you find a pair of shoes you like, buy two! One to wear, and one as a back-up. Very happy with my purchase.

I appreciate the structure in these. I bought them again because of the fit and feel, but I don’t think they lasted as long as others have in the past. I got 300 miles of activity with them, but I also wear them for errands and social activities so I am guessing I got closer to 400-500 miles total wear.

My activities are not extreme, mostly walking with some light running, and all on asphalt. The size runs true (at least for me) and the fit accommodates my preference for a narrow fit.

I have been wearing Mizuno’s for years, and these wave sky 5 are not a neutral shoe. There is so much lateral support I feel my ankle being pushed into pronation, when normally i am a slight supinator.

So uncomfortable and I’ve had to get insoles to correct the inbalance. I Do not recommend.

They seem just ok to me. Over the past couple of years the problems with my feet continue worsening and growing. I feel I’ve tried every shoe out there to help with stability and support despite how ugly they have all been.

I still feel much pain wearing brooks. This is my first pair. And my last. I haven’t seen any issues with the product itself, they seem made well. Not too bad looking and cushioning is good so 3stars for all that.

I have been wearing BROOKS Adrenaline for 5 years and they keep getting better. Perfect for my orthotics (I pronate) and true to size. I do get a WIDE width to fit the orthotics. I am a big walker so I will continue to buy them as I go through at least 2/year!.

Full disclosure: I just use these for walking, not running, so I can’t speak to their performance there. But for my needs, they’re great. I was looking for a wide sneaker that would accommodate my orthotics but not look like bricks on my feet (ahem Hokas).

I also need a fair amount of cushioning because of an injury. I was so happy that these met both criteria while looking like an everyday sneaker! Also love that they’re (marketed as) carbon neutral! Yay Brooks! A note about sizing: I tried these on in a store in my size, 8.

5, and they were a good fit, but the store only had blue and I wanted all-black. Altitude thankfully had them in stock (and hooray for the member discount!) but when they arrived, the 8. 5 felt small.

So I exchanged them for a 9, which fits great. Don’t know if that’s the case for just the all-black vs blue but thought I’d mention it for the sake of other buyers!.

I was so excited when I saw the fantastic colors on this shoe. However I was tremendously disappointed with the lack of quality and how uncomfortable it was. I have serious back issues and neuropathy in my legs and feet.

These are the only sneakers I can wear. The cost is always an inconvenience so I have to look at it as an investment for my health. In person the shoe simply looks cheap. Then when you put it on it is hard and no support or cushion.

I was crushed that I had to return these. I ended up buying another pair of the ghost 13’s in mens. I didn’t like the color selection but at least I knew that they fit and are comfortable. Please go back to the ghost 10, 12 or 13 format.

Quit cutting corners in making a new version. The new colors and offering more options in wide for women is the way to go. I have 3 pairs of ghosts but if you don’t improve your future models you will be losing a customer and that makes me sad.
