I am a product junkie and have tried every shampoo in the marketplace (no exaggeration), but this one, by far, is my favorite! Unfortunately, I suffer from oily hair and stinky scalp syndrome, which really stinks (pardon the pun) because I love cleanliness.
Cleanliness is godliness, right? Anyway, I’ve tried all kinds of DIY treatments at home, none of which worked—but then, about a half year ago, I decided to try this shampoo because of my admiration of L’Oreal products.
It’s the only shampoo that has had the ability to eradicate the smell. Moreover, it makes my hair shiny and full of volume. I can’t praise this shampoo enough! If I could give it 100 stars, I would!.
I purchased for L’Oreal Paris ever pure sulfate free color care system purple conditioner for my hair that I’m letting go gray. At this time I do have some brassy colors and I was told if I were to get purple shampoo or purple conditioner it would help with the brassiness on the hair and not place it on the scalp.
Oh my, I look like a freak with purple undertones in my hair. And to say the least I am not happy!! I still have the brassiness I just have another color nail added to the gray the brassiness and NOW purple.
I remember back in the 70s when my grandmother would go to the beauty shop with her gray hair and come home with purple undertones. I would always laugh at her under my breath, guess I am paying for it now!.

So long story short. I have blonde highlights. I’ve never had issues with my highlights up until three years ago and I decided to do a “blonder” color and put more highlights in my hair. After I did that, my hair wrecked havoc.
I couldn’t shower without it becoming a huge clump in the back of my head. I was using pumps and pumps of conditioner just to get the tangles out. It was a mess. Eventually I settled on the Kenra Color Shampoo and Scruples conditioner (yes; I use a hair mask as an everyday conditioner) since at the time I felt like I got a really good suds with that product.
The past year I’ve noticed my hair becoming extremely dry and brittle. It was harder to manage so I decided to dry a bunch of Biolage products. This Colorlast Shampoo is amazing. It smells so good, leaves my hair so soft and it suds up perfectly in the shower! I actually think it helps my hair from falling out since I’m not having to brush as hard to get tangles out or use as much conditioner.
I can’t wait to try the other products in their line but for now it’s a keeper!.
full disclosure: i do not have colored hair (anymore). my hair is now virgin tho i bought this shampoo some time ago when i did color my hair and for some reason never used it back then. however, i do have naturally red hair that the right products make much more shiny and vivid looking even if technically the color is unchanged.
the wrong products make it dull and less vividly red. this shampoo, which i’ve been using regularly and am almost finished with my bottle, certainly makes my hair shiny and makes my natural color look rich and intense, so i imagine its great for colored hair too.
it lathers well, cleans well, adds bounce and volume in addition to great shine, and of course like all biolage products, smells amazing. however, it also feels really drying in the shower and that’s why i took off a star.
it gives that squeaky clean stripped feeling, which i don’t like, and makes my hair feel very rough and stiff (like a solid mass that i can’t really get my fingers through) until i use conditioner. it also makes my skin and hands feel very dry too which is almost more bothersome than just my hair alone feeling stripped.
yes, a lot of shampoos do this, but a lot of shampoos also *don’t* do this-i prefer ones in the latter category. once my hair is conditioned and dried though, it doesn’t seem dried out, so i kept using this shampoo hoping that stripped feeling was just that, a feeling, and only before conditioning, and that it wasn’t really drying out/stripping my hair long term.
for a while that seemed to be the case but then i tried switching conditioners (i don’t use the matching one btw i use the biolage advanced keratindose conditioner and tried switching to redken extreme conditioner for a change) and i noticed tons of split ends after my hair dried that time.
obviously that conditioner wasn’t moisturizing enough but a conditioner alone won’t cause split ends, especially not in just one use, and it made me realize that maybe this shampoo has been overly drying all along and my regular conditioner just happened to be good enough to mask the damage.
so. i’m not sure if i will repurchase this particular shampoo now, i will probably at least experiment with a few others first, though i think i will stick to biolage in general. i do have virgin hair but despite that my hair has always been on the coarse side and dries out really easily and is breakage prone especially near the ends.
it is also really long and wavy so that doesn’t help. all in all this shampoo is probably fine for finer, oilier, shorter and/or just generally more resilient hair, including colored hair, but for more difficult, drier, and breakage prone hair it seems a little bit harsh for regular use.
i can’t imagine it would be gentle enough for highly processed hair. but it *does* make my hair *look* really, really good, so i remain undecided. if i end up repurchasing it, i will update my review.

It must have tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil because it leaves a cooling, tingling sensation on my scalp which I love! It makes me feel extra clean! So I love using this when my hair feels extra dirty and I want that extra invigoration feeling when I get out the shower! I would definitely re purchase this product and I do often.

Purple shampoo works best for people who are experiencing yellowness or brassiness and is perfect for Blonde, Bleached, Silver, or Brown Highlighted Hair. Before using the purple shampoo, first wash and clean your hair with a clarifying shampoo (or your normal shampoo).
This will help the purple shampoo work better. I absolutely LOVE this Sulfate Free Brass Toning Purple Shampoo by L’Oreal Paris Hair Care EverPure ! I started using this after I bleached my hair from dark brown to light blonde.
This purple shampoo smells amazing and LATHERS UP REALLY WELL! It neutralizes the brassiness in my hair and also moisturizes and leaves my hair brighter. I use it around once or twice a week and now I can’t live without it :).

Kiss brassiness goodbye in as little as 1 Wash with John Frieda Violet crush for blondes intense purple shampoo. The advanced, extra strength formula cleanses while quickly neutralizing brassy tones for salon fresh style.
Crushed violet pigments absorb UV light and emit a white blue glow, making coloured or highlighted blonde hair appear cooler and brighter after just 1 use of John Frieda Violet crush for blondes intense purple shampoo.
Work it into a lather in wet hair and rinse it out completely. For best results, use with John Frieda Violet crush for blondes purple conditioner.
I received free samples of the JOHN FRIEDA Violet Crush Purple Shampoo & Conditioner from PINCHMe to review. I don’t have blonde hair so I gave this to a blonde haired friend to try out. Here’s what she had to say: Shampoo lathered well and very few tangles after conditioning.
It did turn down the brassiness without making my hair look too ash blonde. I think for the price point it holds its own. I don’t like it as well as some similar shampoos and conditioners sold in salons, but I do like the price point! What I dislike: I was underwhelmed by the smell not a whole lot to it.
One day after use my hair does feel a little more weighed down and more oily then normal. I have super thick hair (about to the middle of my back) and almost used the entire bottle of both samples to really make it feel like I’d worked it from Root to Tip.
– Overall, I would consider buying this brand if I didn’t already get my salon brand purple shampoo/conditioner from my hairdresser mom for free/really cheap. :).

First time trying a purple shampoo that is not from a professional beauty brand and I am pleased! The scent is very nice and leaves your hair smelling wonderful! The color of the shampoo is very dark purple and contains a lot of pigment, which I like because it makes me feel like the product works better at knocking out the brass.
This lathered better than other purple shampoos that I have tried. I have only used once and I already saw a change in the tone of my hair. It definitely works! I will continue to use to see even better results.
The good thing is this is way more reasonably priced than other well known brands! I also like how this made my hair soft and silky and did not dry it out like some other brass eliminating shampoos. It doesn’t seem to be as harsh on your hair and does not strip it.
I will continue to use and I will recommend to my blonde babes!.
I was pleasantly surprised by this product! brunette who decided to experiment going blonde about a year ago. I’ve used purple shampoos from brands like Redken from the recommendation of my stylist with what felt like minimal results for $$$.
When I got this in the mail I was excited but honestly a little nervous (like any blonde that uses a new product. ) If you decide to try this make sure to manage your expectations. This will NOT, I repeat NOT lighten your hair.
If anything you might even feel like it’s the tiniest bit darker. BUT with that being said I didn’t even know my hair was brassy until I used this product and immediately saw a difference. My hair felt shinier, ashier (in a good way) and overall better.
I can’t comment on the quality of the ingredients but I’m impressed!.

I personally think this blue shampoo works very well on my balayaged hair. (For comparison, I also have the Blue Malva by Aveda, which is nice, and the Kerastas purple shampoo which is wayyyyy too drying!!! But those are the only other two color shampoos I have so I’m no expert on color shampoos!) I have long, thick hair so I do probably use too much.
I leave it in for about ten minutes before I rinse it. I don’t find it to be drying like others I’ve tried. It’s never turned my hair blue. I use it twice a week (or 3 depending on if I wash my hair that much).
When I started using this between salon visits a few months ago, I received compliments on my new color, even though it was just this shampoo. It really helps tone the brassiness on my dark brown hair, and helps maintain a pretty blonde shade on the rest of my hair.
I ordered two bottles on my recent Ulta order because I like it that much! (And they had a B1G1 50% off at the time. ).

So the first thing people should understand about purple shampoo, it does leave your hair feeling dry. At least until you condition it. You really don’t want to use it daily. Once or twice a week max.
That being said, Amika Purple Shampoo did help brighten my blonde. It’s not going to tone it however. If using a purple shampoo doesn’t help, you may need a toner. Amika brightened the areas that weren’t due to lack of toner.
I’ve heard people say that purple shampoo turned their hair grey or purple, that’s likely because you either left it on too long (bleached hair absorbs pigments rather easily) or your hair is double processed/over processed in which case you should probably advise a stylist.
Purple Shampoo isn’t bad, and Amika Purple Shampoo is pretty good.
I bought this conditioner because my usual Aveda Blue Malva shampoo was out of stock everywhere. My hair is lightened from its natural blonde to an almost white blonde (think Billy Idol or Marilyn Monroe) and it can get brassy between touch-ups, so I occasionally use Blue Malva to remove brassiness, leaving it on for a few seconds to do its work.
This conditioner was promising because right out of the bottle, it is very dark purple. I used it the way that I use Blue Malva, and I noticed no improvement in my brassiness. The next day, I let it sit on my hair longer, massaging it into areas where there was more brassiness, giving it about 8 minutes to do its job before rinsing it out.
I noticed no improvement in the brassiness, but I did have parts of my hair that were noticeably purple. And my hair was considerably dryer and rougher than usual.
I have always highlighted my hair and I wanted to give Amika’s Bust Your Brass Blonde Purple Shampoo and Amika’s Bust Your Brass Blonde Conditioner. I decided to purchase the Mini size which you would get 2 ounces for 2 reasons.
The first reason is because I was going on a trip and didn’t want to carry the full size. The second reason I purchased a mini size was just in case I didn’t like it. Just like the Shampoo, the conditioner was also purple.
It’s supposed to work hand in hand with the Shampoo. Just like the Shampoo, all hair types can use this conditioner. All textures can use this Conditioner as well. I wasn’t a fan of the Shampoo and I found the Conditioner to be ok.
It did help with making my hair soft, easy to detangle my hair. I did enjoy reading how it’s free if sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes and many other chemicals. This product is also cruelty- free, gluten-free, and comes in recyclable packing.
Fanola’s No Yellow shampoo is ideal for blonde, grey, super-lightened or de-coloured hair. Its violet pigment tones down unwanted yellow in light blonde or streaked hair. How to eliminate unwanted yellow tones from hair? Fanola no yellow is the world’s number one best toning shampoo for blondes.
It helps to eliminate unwanted yellow tones from the hair, making it a beautiful ash tone. This purple shampoo is recommended for use once a week to help keep a more vibrant blonde that lasts longer between colours.
Ok this stuff is AMAZING. I have pre-bleached my hair at least 5 times at this point, and my hair was very yellow before. Applied this to my hair for About an hour and a half to towel dried hair after rinsing the bleach out, did a thorough rinse in the shower and then reapplied to give my hair a little extra slip (it felt very dry from bleaching).
While it was wet it did appear to have a bit of a grey/violet tint to it, which disappeared and changed to bright silver when it was fully dry. Consistency isn’t very thick, it’s runny like a daily conditioner and has a rose hip oil smell to it.
It is very pigmented, so it’s probably best to use gloves and wash the color down the drain immediately so as not to stain the tub. It did stain my nails a bit, but the staining has gone away after about a day of regular hand washing.
Highly recommend this!!! Sure beats using a toner and further damaging my hair after the damage my hair has already been put through during bleaching. Attached to my review I have also included a couple other products I added to my hair to restore moisture and curl definition! Generic Value Products Deep Conditioning Hair Mask Compare To It’s A 10 Miracle Hair Mask Generic Value Products Leave In Treatment With Keratin Compare To It’s A 10 Miracle Leave In Plus Keratin.
Root to End Bolder Purple Blonde Shampoo couldn’t have arrived at a better time. 3 weeks ago my hair was bleached and toned again, but it was left with a lot of orange/yellow brass color. I had expensive purple toned shampoo on hand, and while it helped the color, it dries out my hair.
THANKFULLY I had this on hand for my next wash. I was delighted to see the pigment as a true purple, and to know the product has no silicones, parabens or phthalate. They also added amino acids to keep the moisture in your hair.
What more could a bleach blonde want? A sexy scent. I love the smell of this shampoo! While lathering my hair I was delighted by the scent. Since I leave purple toned shampoo in my hair for at least 3 minutes, it was a special treat (instead of a strong medicinal smell I’ve had with others.
) The results. LESS YELLOW!! My hair looked more ash tone instead of brassy. A tip: if you need to get rid of more brass color, apply to dry hair for 10 to 50 mins and it will work wonders!.
I received a free sample of Root to End Bolder Blonde Purple from the Home Tester Club to give my opinion on it. As a user of high priced blonde purple shampoos I was very unsure of Root to End Bolder Blonde Purple Shampoos effectiveness for its price.
But WOW. It has a easy to handle bottle and easy to open lid. The shampoos thickness is just right, and makes a creamy great smelling lather and rinses easily. Leaves hair very soft, clean, great smelling, and easy to comb, left with no unwanted brassiness and luxurious hair!!! I was very impressed and sold on this product! Can’t wait to try it with the conditioner!! Awesome Find Girls!! Thank you Home Tester Club!.
I’ve heard of Root to End Bolder Blonde Purple Shampoo before and I’ve seen it in stores. However, this was my first time trying the product. I used it according to the directions and feel in love with it after the first use.
The purple aspect of it takes a bit of getting used to but it does make the shampoo fun to use (can’t say that about many other shampoos/conditioners). After a week or so, I did notice fuller and richer hair.
I many need to used the product a bit longer to actually confirm it’s full affects, especially the “œbolder blonde” claim, but after about half the bottle I’ve been very impressed. I will definitely finish the bottle and will explore this brand and their product line more.
Highlighted blonde or brunette, blonde, bleached or silver hair can suffer from brassiness. Our formula with purple pigment instantly neutralizes unwanted yellow and orange tones while deeply nourishing hair.
I’ve been a blonde for many years now, so believe me when I say I’ve tried a heck of a lot of purple shampoos! Most recently, I’ve been using the Surface Violet shampoo and the Kevin Murphy Blonde. Normally I’d just pick up a new bottle when getting my hair done, but since we were in lockdown I went online and found the L’Oreal Purple Shampoo.
YOU GUYS! I’ve tried drugstore purples before, and they were weak, but this L’Oreal product is POTENT! It’s also the lowest price imaginable at $5 on Amazon. Seriously, I won’t ever go back to my $35+ bottles.
I use this about every 2 or 3 days, sometimes I mix with a hydrating shampoo as it does dry out my hair a bit. As long as you’re giving your hair a mask every week or two (and as a faux-blonde you should be anyways) , you’re going to love it! Warning though – leave it in too long, you’ll get that blue/purple tint, so just be careful.
If you have blonde hair that constantly goes brassy or even yellow tones. This will help a lot with it. The purple shampoo is another at-home option that’s formulated to neutralize brassy yellow and orange tones in color-treated hair.
This purple shampoo will help correct the yellow tones/brassiness. It leaves your hair feeling soft, shiny and bright right after a few washes but I advise you to use it with conditioner if you have highlights or just trying to get more of a blonde look out of it.
A must-have in the haircare arsenal of the brass-prone, the Aussie Blonde Hydration Shampoo gives insane hydrating action while neutralising brassiness for icy-fresh colour. Supercharged with violet pigments and powerful, true-blue bushfoods (like Wild Plum) with toning properties, the Aussie haircare brand’s purple shampoo is formulated to correct unwanted yellow undertones to restore your hair’s clean, bright colour.
Doing wonders for dull, parched locks, the deep-quenching toning shampoo unleashes a heavy dose of hydrating Australian Hemp Seed extract, which is also chock-full with essential oils, fatty acids and antioxidants.
Discolouration is visibly improved after first use and hair looks noticeably more luminous. Suitable for natural or highlighted grey, silver, blonde, platinum and metallic hair shades. Safe on colour-treated hair.
Paraben-free. PETA certified cruelty-free brand; never tested on animals. Recyclable packaging.
I used this shampoo once and my hair feels so much more damaged and dry. I have type 3a-b curly hair which is bleached blonde. I saw this shampoo and thought it was perfect for my blonde hair and as it says hydration I thought it would be good for my curls.
WRONG! I’ve just spent the last 2 hours brush my hair out which was matted to my roots because of this. Buy this if you want to ruin your hair. I recommend fanola no yellow hair mask as it’s very pigmented for blonde hair and doesn’t leave your hair dry and damaged.
I was thoroughly annoyed with the Aussie brand when they got rid of the Take the Heat range and had to change brands to find anything half as good. But, now the new Blonde Hydration Purple has put a smile on my face and, more importantly, a shine on my hair.
Not only is the conditioner really affective but my hair looks so much better. This is a great product. My hair is long, golden blond and tends towards dry, this hydration range just works! Thank you!.
As the best purple shampoo for brown hair with highlights will vary depending on the specific hair type and color. However, some general tips on choosing a purple shampoo for brown hair with highlights include looking for a shampoo that is specifically designed for colored hair, and avoiding shampoos with harsh sulfates or chemicals.
