20 Best Protective Case For Ipad 9Th Generation (2023 Updated)

Wow this case is very well thought out. I have had many cases for phones over years and I know this is for an iPad but its just so useful in many ways. It has magnets that are strong enough to confidently mount it on a refrigerator of metal surface with the iPad inside the case.

It has legs that allow you to set the iPad at different viewing angles. The buttons for the power and volume work so well. I initially had an issue with the power button being stuck but it was because of how inserted the iPad the first time I got the case.

It has a cover for the screen that activates the iPad screen when you open it. The inside of the front cover is soft to prevent damage to the iPad. And there is a place holder for a stylus if you do use one.

The case as far as protecting the iPad will do an excellent job. The screen portion has a significant lip around the front edge of the iPad, about 1/4 inch or so. So if it falls face flat it’ll survive.

The side are ver well protected and the back is just bulletproof. Overall the materials are top notch even down to the interior material which was finished off in a printed pattern. I can easily carry this around without looking like an idiot as it looks like a very nice leather bound notebook.

If you are on the fence due to the high price, just get it. Thank me later.

Love the sleek look and the color also the fact that it has a place to store an ink pen or stylus: however, it a little bit heavier than I thought it would be and I know it’s because of the metal that is used.

I really love that it has 8 landscape positions for viewing options, I only wish it was able to rotate from landscape to portrait as well. So far, it seems to be holding up very well because I give my IPAD a lot of attention everyday (at least anywhere from 5-7 hours a day).

I haven’t had it for a month yet. This purchase was kind of like a gift from my brother who has one and I told him I had considered getting one. I have not tested how well it hols on the refrigerator and quite frankly, I probably never will.

Overall, I really love the case and I would have given it 5 stars had it been a little lighter. It’s seems to be very durable so far. Love, love, love the color and the eight viewing positions. I would recommend this product to others.

I got the ZUGU 10. 2 case as a replacement for an older case that I liked a lot, but which wore out on the outside. The ZUGU case fits my iPad precisely. All openings line up well. Even the cover (lid) is recessed into the case.

I do an online Bible study once per week. For this I fold the cover back and open the kickstand. The iPad adjusts perfectly and the stand is sturdy, even being held in its notches magnetically. My only caution on this is to set it on a clean surface; otherwise the plush inside of the case picks up crumbs and closes them against the screen.

The exterior of the case feels good, and I have hope that it will be durable.

I wanted a case that offered protection for the screen. This does the job. Granted anytime you have a barrier over your screen your touch isn’t as sensitive, so I expected that but it doesn’t bother me.

As someone has done you can remove the clean plastic but that would void the warranty. I like that it has a spot for the stylus too. So convenient and I’m less likely to lose my stylus. The only think I can say that is negative is that the on/off button doesn’t quite fit perfectly, as I really have to press hard to turn the tablet on/off, but it’s not anything that is too much of a negative issue.

I’m more concerned with protecting my tablet as I travel for work. I’m happy so for with this case.

My child’s iPad has taken a few bumps and spills, but this case has protected it every single time. It’s durable and lightweight. The stand is very handy, although it is not super sturdy and will tip over if knocked too hard.

But at least it’s protected! I like the screen protector, too. Easy to install.

Have both of their iPad & iPhone cases, great construction for proven protection. Never dropped my 12. 9 iPad Pro, but did drop my IPhone 5SE from about 4 high, on to a concrete sidewalk. Not even a scratch! SUPCASE simply builds the best product for the money.

Many models with or w/o screen protector, & doesnt interfere with your touch screen functionality. The iPad model features a GREAT retractable locking, sturdy kickstand, thats works well in portrait or landscape positions.

I needed a quality case to protect my new iPad, but didnt want to pay the price of a premium brand. I read good reviews of this product and liked the photos. According to Wikibuy, the price here was the best available.

The case is in no way cheaply made. It fits perfectly and the materials are quality. The plastic screen cover is similar to that on an Otterbox. It is plenty responsive and easy to clean. The kickstand is strong, but there is no adjustment for angle.

Sometimes I prop it on a book to get the angle I want. I believe the case will provide good protection all around, but a direct blow to the large screen could be too much. My iPad mini screen shattered when it was struck on the home button.

I just recommend guarding the screen regardless of installed protection.

well built case. very sturdy built in strap. only issue was with the screen protector that comes with it. removed it and replaced it with a Tempered Glass Screen Protector for the added protection which made this a complete perfect protective case for my ipad 10.

2 as the one that comes with the case felt like a cheesy thin plastic no thicker than a napkin. which did not offer any real protection to it. outside of that awesome case would recommend it to others as I have purchased other cases from sahara in the past for other items and have not been wrong yet.

some day would like to see a add on for the case like otterbox has (versatile shield stand – that not only doubles as a stand but as a outer screen protection to fully enclose the case when not in use should it fall off a desk.

again excellent case and well built love the built in strap as it saves me the trouble of using a 3rd party strap to put on to hold my ipad in its protective case.

A quality item, well designed down to the last details. The case is rugged and yet easy to take apart and snap back into place. The hand strap and kickstand in the back are delightfully useful—the kickstand stays in place and can prop up the iPad in either landscape or portrait mode (I set it upside down in portrait mode).

These cases are very protective for the iPad and its screen. They also hold the Apple Pencil. Great product!

Over the years, my wife and I have bought over five iPads. I´ve lost count of how many iPhones my wife has had. We always buy official Apple accessories (cables, chargers, folios etc. ) I mention this upfront so that you understand that what follows comes from a loyal customer and not some Android fanboy just having a whiny rant.

It´s a loyal customer having a whiny rant. I decided to buy my wife a smart folio for her iPad Pro as a birthday present. It was a great disappointment. In fact, I would go so far as to say it doesn´t work.

We have always bought Apple Smart Folios for our iPads. We had tried cheaper third-party products, but I guess you get what you pay for. Though the Apple Smart Folios were far more expensive, there was no doubt that they were extremely well made from quality materials and worked extremely well.

When my wife bought her new iPad Pro, financial constraints obliged her to get a cheap third part cover. For months she was grumbling about how light weight and flimsy it was, how it wasn´t anywhere near as good as the Apple iPad folios, and how she wished she had had the money to afford a proper Apple iPad folio for her new iPad.

I can take a hint. I bought one for her birthday. At first, she was delighted with her present. But within hours she was beginning to complain about the new design. Earlier versions of the Smart Folios wrapped around the edge of the iPad and held it in firmly in place.

The new version only holds the iPad in place magnetically. You can convince yourself that this is sufficiently robust – as many reviews here seem to do – but it really isn´t. It is possible to dislodge the iPad with only moderately vigorous swiping.

If you adjust your position whilst lying recumbent in bed it is very easy to dislodge the iPad from the cover. If you are unlucky, your iPad will tumble with a crash onto the floor leaving you holding the Smart Folio flapping forlornly in the wind.

None of these things ever happened with previous incarnations of the Smart Folio. My wife and I have both had our own iPads since 2011. That´s 20 person years of use without incident. I hope Apple see sense and reconsider this design decision for future iterations of the Smart Folio.

If they are wedded to the magnetic Smart Folios they think they look cool, well they could produce two versions – one magnetic and one wraparound. (They already effectively produce two versions with the cover and the Smart Folio, so I guess one more will make three).

Heck, if cost is an issue, they can charge even more for the wraparound version. I´ll be the first to slap down my hard-earned dosh for a pre-order. But I only want something that works.

I am used to buying iPad covers with a keyboard attached and the image of the thin magnetically held cover seemed both insecure and expensive. However, the availability of a portable keyboard that could be used with various devices, and the inconvenience of heavy keyboard covers led me to give the smart folio a try.

I will never buy another keyboard cover. The Apple cover is expensive. However, it has protected my iPad from falls, briefcase debris, and other mishaps. It also folds into at least two useful positions – and allows the iPad to be charged while being used.

In short, it is simple, light, effective, and elegant. Now to find a Bluetooth keyboard that is the same (smile).

Pros: -I’ve gone through so many generic folio covers, this one is the best for my iPad Pro 11″ -Minimalistic and functionable -Gives bare bones protection without adding weight and bulk Cons: -Gives bare bones protection -the stand to have your iPad set up vertically in landscape fashion is not very sturdy at all -$80? This rubberized cardboard is literally $20 less than an Apple Magic Keyboard! Overall: The ONLY reason I got this cover was because it was for sale for $59.

99 at my local Best Buy. I still see no justification for $80 for a rubberized cardboard cover. This gives you the bare minimum of protection. Since I’m generally very careful with my iPad Pro 11″ anyway, that’s not a big deal.

I’ve used a few 3rd party protection gimmicks and they add some bulk and weight to my iPad Pro. This folio cover does not. Bottom line, if you don’t mind paying Apple premium prices for a bare bones folio cover, by all means, get this.

But if the price is too much and you already dropped $$$$ on your iPad Pro and don’t want to fork out even more, there are $20 alternatives that may feel cheap but at least give you something that provides more protection.

This is not actually a review just of the product. The product itself is ok. Not quite the rough tough high quality I expect from otras box. The glueing and attachment of the cover is iffy at best. It’s a bit conversion and doesn’t always stay up when folded for the stand.

Not sure I would pay that price again. Plus it looked used and repackages when I received it. But Bestbuy took care of some of that… kinda.

This product will not fit the iPad 8th generation. Support advised it is a tight fit but unable to get the height and width into the. When the side volume buttons are aligned with the case the iPad is nearly 9mm longer on the bottom and.

The screen sleep magnets are also not correct. When positioned over the screen the magnets repel the cover from the front of the iPad and do not cause the screen to go to sleep. Design theory and look of the product is great but this product was poorly executed from test to final product that is being distributed to customers.

Also please get better advise for your customer service then push harder on a screen and risk breaking an expensive electronic. Will be returning.

I love this Otterbox cover. It’s heavy but not too heavy. I like the two positions you can place the iPad in for writing since that was one of the setbacks on competitor’s cases. I also like that Otterbox no longer uses a clear screen cover since that used to be a nuisance.

The magnetic cover works good at keeping it closed. My only complaint is that the opening for the charger plug is a little small, which make it hard to plug in and sometimes even hard to determine if it’s properly plugged in.

I have pushed the plug in where it feels like it was properly secured only to discover that it didn’t plug in at all and pushed below between the cover and back side of the iPad. Other than that, this case is great.

This tablet case is great! I love the fact that it has a built-in stand, and a strap to secure it to your hand. It’s fantastic to take shopping with me, I can keep my grocery list right on my tablet, rather than my phone, as my eyesight is not the greatest anymore.

The tablet fit into the case perfectly, all of the buttons work as expected, and I like the look of the case. The built in Apple pencil holder, is also a plus. The case feels very substantial, without adding a lot of bulk or weight.

I feel as if my iPad is very protected. I have not done a drop test, but I have no doubt that it would withstand my clumsy nature.

I absolutely love this case for my iPad! It is very light, and I feel like my iPad is very safe and secure. It has a spot for my Apple Pencil, which I love because I don’t have to worry about losing it anymore.

It was a little hard to get my device in the case, but I appreciated that because I know it’s not going to come out. The strap feature is wonderful, and I you can adjust it, so it doesn’t hurt my wrist like my other cases.

I got the Targus – SafePort® Standard Antimicrobial Case for iPad® (9th, 8th, and 7th gen. ) 10. 2-inch a few weeks ago. I had been used to a iPad cover that had a screen protector. After using this case for about a month I am very impressed with how well this case protects my iPad despite no screen cover.

This case has a great feature where the handle can act as a stand for the iPad. The case is super secure and stands up to pretty tall drops.

This protector has honestly taken me by suprise by how sturdy and how much beating it has taken. The built-in screen protector has no noticeable effect on the touch input and the picture quality is the same as if there was no protection at all! I’ve roughly dropped this from about one story and besides some scuffing on the edges the iPad inside was pristine! Honestly the convenience of the built-in kickstand saved me from finding some random box and propping it up like most other cases that either have an external mount or does not have one at all.

Lovely case. I got it for my iPad 10.2 inches. Was very happy with it. Just a kickstand is not firm. It doesn’t stay well. Kinda weak holder on the back. The rest – this case is awesome!

While recently purchasing a new iPad, I selected this case for the sturdiness and professional look. It gets a lot of use and is working out very well for me. The only reason I did not rate it a 5 is because the clear outer cover collects so many fingerprints.

This case is nice in that it covers the whole iPad and I don’t have to worry as much about kids dropping it and damaging. But it’s hard to turn it off. And it’s really not that great to use for touch features.

Sometimes you have to hit the buttons a few times to registers the touch.

Nice case with a screen protector. The case also has a stand option to view shows. We use the tablet for a back Credit card terminal and the stand works awesome. It runs the whole length of the tablet not just a 2 inch kick out.

I LOVE this case! It is thick enough to protect my iPad without being too heavy. There is a slot for my Apple Pencil built in on the side. When watching videos, its very easy to stand the iPad up with the folding cover.

The cover is strong and durable, and will not collapse when propping up your iPad.

The case fits perfectly. Having the place to hold the pencil is great and the perfect size. Getting the case correctly positioned took a little trial and error, and the angle is just in certain positions for my use, but that is a personal preference and may work great for others.

Great color. It seems pretty sturdy, and I like that there is a place for the apple pencil. The cover movers around too much when it is folded behind the iPad, I wish it lined up perfectly and attached to magnets on the back of the iPad to keep it in place.

This is great for kids. Bought it for my son a year ago and hes been beating it up. You will require an ipad cover though. This is great for travel as he likes to hang it from the front seat. The only problem is the stand can easily break especially if you have destructive kids.

My son likes to break things apart and this piece was the first to break. He can still stand it up as the ipad will rest on the monkey feet and it has definitñy taken a beating. This would be a betwr product if the stand was sturdier.

It’s super cute and easy for my toddler to carry. I feel pretty comfortable overall that it’s going to keep the ipad safe. On the downside, the big arms used for hanging it come off too easily & they’re a pain to get back on.

My toddler took them out several times before I just gave up and left them off. Also, it only took about 2 weeks for my 3yr old to break the back stand because it’s not easy to close. It is (the stand) still somewhat usable for now, so long as the other tab doesn’t break off too.

This is ok, definitely not durable because it has no screen protection. It works for travel because I can attach it to the back of the seat, but it’s kinda a pain to get the loop inserted into the other side to hold it up.

I also don’t like the charger area, it’s very difficult to get the charger in, so i usually just push it back. The volume buttons in my opinion are awkward to use. It’s not bad to have, but as it’s not much protection this won’t be my first choice to keep our iPad safe from a toddler for long.

The feet stand and handles are good even for me when my hands are full. Just think it could’ve been a tad better.

I didn’t buy this for a child, but for viewing my crochet patterns while the iPad is perched on narrow work surfaces. It’s easy to use and has the small footprint I require. The only big “con” is that it’s difficult to reach the volume control buttons that are obscured by the handle.

Another con is that it doesn’t surround the screen tightly enough so there is often dust around the edges of the screen. All-in-all, it’s an ok item. And, I got it in black so the “mickey mouse” hands shaped upright supports are less evident.

They fold flat with minor manipulation.

Very durable. Light weight and supports are easy to pull out and put away. The only issue I see happening in the future is, the hinges for the supports are becoming loose. I’m sure it’s an easy fix. But over all I feel like I made a great decision on this item!.

My daughter absolutely loves Mickey Mouse! I knew this case would be perfect! It’s soft, but tough enough to take care of the iPad and adventures of my 3 year old!

I’ve use OtterBox defender case for Apple phones in a past before and this is the first time that I’m using it for an Apple iPad.  so far it’s done a great job defending my iPad and keeping it safe and I really appreciate the fact that it came with its own protective screen as well too it doesn’t interrupt my touchpad activities and it takes away my worries of scratches occurring.

Choosing this particular type of case was a great choice and OtterBox products have never let me down for you the years that I’ve used them. The black color is very appealing. It even has a small storage area for the Apple Pencil so that’s a plus right there the port to be able to use it to either stand or connected for my charging purposes is more than accessible and it isn’t difficult.

It really feels like a thick layer of armor that’s been placed onto the actual iPad. I gave this product five stars and I would recommend it to anyone I would now and a few people have listen to my device and have a proof of this purchase for themselves.

Ok. So, I ordered this for drive-up. I thought I was getting a case with a built-in screen protector. I picked it up, made sure it was what I ordered, and drove back home. The case was in a cardboard box with both pieces snapped together so the backs were facing out.

I didn’t know until I opened it that there was no screen protector. I wasn’t sure if I had ordered the wrong one, or had gotten a defective one, so I drove back to the store to return it. When I got to the store, I decided to look at the cases to see if they had the case I thought I was getting.

Sure enough, there was the case with the built-in screen protector in a PLASTIC box. It was the exact same price as the one I had received. I noticed that the one I had ordered said Defender PRO, and the one I had actually wanted said DEFENDER.

No “Pro”. I figured I had just gotten the 2 mixed up, misread the reviews saying it came with a screen protector, etc. So, I bought the regular Defender case, went home and made sure it fit my iPad 8th Gen (because the DEFENDER says “for 7th Gen” only and the PRO says “for 7th AND 8th Gen”) and THANKFULLY it did! Out of curiosity, I checked my in-store purchase on the app to see if the DEFENDER showed up as an item (because when I searched for OtterBox I only saw the PRO) and sure enough, it showed up.

AS THE OTTERBOX DEFENDER PRO! So, basically I’m leaving this looooong review to save the next person who wants just the regular ol’ Defender. BUY IT IN THE STORE!!!!! DEFENDER: Not available online (as itself), comes in a plastic box, has a screen protector Defender PRO: Available online, comes in a cardboard box, does NOT have a screen protector I’m giving this item 3 stars only because it was very confusing having 2 very different cases listed under the same name.

The cases themselves are great, but the screen protector is a must-have for me. Not sure why the PRO isn’t as equipped as the Defender though. Doesn’t quite seem like a “pro”.

We have always used Otterboxes for our IPads, going back to my IPad 2. I stupidly had set it “momentarily” on the roof of my car after an appointment. Proceeded to drive down a gravel road for 3-4 blocks, turn up a short hill for another block.

I then proceeded to jump 9n a four lane expressway, had built up speed to approximately 60 mph when 8 heard an external sound, looked in the rear view mirror & noticed this black object flying off behind my vehicle and landing on the concrete highway.

I then shockingly noticed my iPad was not on my front passenger seat. I quickly pulled over to the shoulder, ran back and found the cover with a corner piece chipped off, but no iPad! Further up the expressway toward the car, on the shoulder of the left lane, there was the bottom of the case.

With dread 8 picked up the case, turned it over expecting to see a shattered screen. Much to my amazement the screen was intact! I then turned on the iPad and it worked perfectly, as if nothing had ever happed.

The face edge around the cover of the screen sustained some scrape marks, but the screen protector and the rest of the case was unblemished! My phones and my iPads live in Otterboxes to this day to protect them from my stupidity.
