20 Best Protective Case For Galaxy S8 Plus (2023 Updated)

I got this for my dad’s phone since it was a reputable brand and he is a trucker. As you can imagine, the phone has ample opportunity to fall from above human height onto a hard surface. Now, he has used this type of case before on his S5 and had no issues with it, even after such long falls.

And another positive about this model of case is that it’s not that bulky. You can still fit it in your pocket, even a shirt pocket. And now that he’s moved up to the S8+, this new case has done a great job thus far, including allowing the phone to survive smaller falls undamaged.

It also fits the Alpha glass design too quite snugly giving it a very good fit and finish. The one thing I dislike about it though is it doesn’t grab the glass anywhere to help hold it on in high heat situations as a backup to the adhesive.

But regardless, the case itself is quite well built. I would certainly recommend this for protecting your investment so it lasts and gives you a better return on investment of the phone and the case (and glass) as well.

I love Otterbox cases. I’ve always been very happy with the quality and the look. I bought the Symmetry because I wanted something that would protect but not be too bulky or take away the look of my new Galaxy S8+.

I’m still on the fence with this case. The volume buttons are really hard to press. I have to press multiple times before it will actually work. I’m hoping I just have to “break” in the case and in time it will get easier.

I’m also a little concerned with the front face of the phone not being fully protected on the edges like with other cases but that could just be because of the style of the phone. I haven’t dropped my phone yet so I haven’t been able to see how the case will hold up and protect.

Giving it some time to see if it will protect as well as other cases I’ve had. I’ll update my review later.

I wanted a good protecting case for my Galaxy S8 Plus. I knew that Otterbox had some good cases and I felt that the Symmetry case would be a great compromise for a case with good protection as well as a slim profile to make a big phone feel less bulky in the pocket like other cases! Of course, this case has a very low profile on the sides, like some reviews have complained about, but what else would you expect to allow for the curved edge of the phone and the resulting advantages of swiping from the side? It’s a very MINOR thing to complain about! It’s easy to take on an off if you would need to, and the buttons are easy to press.

I would definitely recommend this case to anyone that does like good protection with less bulk.

Going from an Otterbox ($50) with a glass covering (another $50, never stays on right) to this is a world of difference. The case offers great protection all around, including raised areas so it makes it difficult for the glass to hit anything.

For 1/4 of the price of my previous setup, this wins hands down. Much lighter in weight as well. My only negatives are the case is a little slick and the port covers are a little stiff. Phone: Galaxy S8+.

Amazing seems so durable and sturdy, I believe its gonna definitely save my phone and last for real long, if you use it properly. worth the price. better than buying and protective case and screen guard separately, One should buy this instead.

I ordered several cases for my Galaxy S8 and this is the only one that makes me feel like my phone is protected. Case is very stylish and very durable, does not feel flimsy in the hand at all like the Life Proof case I had before it.

Yes, you have to press the screen a little harder or multiple times to execute an action and yes lent gets trapped under the screen protector after time which makes scrolling a little tasking, but I still wouldn’t trade this case for anything else.

The pieces of this case fit snugly inside each other, but the case is a breeze to take off and put back on. Thinking about getting it in another color. Overall, I am very happy with this case and recommend it to any S8 owner.

Purchased this case after upgrading my old phone and wanted to protect it front and back. The case fits perfectly even scrolls from the edge and looks the part too. Really pleased with the purchase and to top it off it came 2 days early.

Just like others say. you have to press real hard to spell what you want or the home or back keys. Scratches very easy! And there are holes in it which dust gets under the screen and makes it not scroll or type as good too! Did not protect my phone as the glass screen cracked after weeks of buying it!.

The case has just arrived and first impressions are good. I already had a Samsung Clearview case but had a couple of concerns about the case not protection the phone 100% all the way around, the lack of magnetic or other closure of the front flap and I felt it looks a bit bling for my liking.

The tech21 case is about as thick as the Samsung Clearview case when in bumper only mode. With the front flap it gets a bit thicker still depending what you put in the card/cash slots – there is one more slot than I expected in this section which makes it more useful.

They section flaps open to reveal a card slot and a smaller slot for a some notes folded up. They have added magnetic closure for this flap which is a neat solution. The overall height and width is obviously increased a bit as there is a decent bumper that goes all the way around the phone, top and bottom which again adds more protection.

I actually dropped my phone on the driveway yesterday and was a millimetre away from damaging the bottom edge near the ports of the phone which are fairly unprotected in the Samsung case but this case would have taken it no problems at all.

I don’t know how much I will use it without the front flap on as I have broken screens in the past by using rear-only bumper cases which don’t cover thescreen. I daresay the flap will stay on most of the time as it all bends and folds easily enough to use the phone with it on.

It is also a very secure clasp that actually physically clips in place and is not magnetic as I had expected. I daresay the physical clipping of a clasp in place is more secure than magnets but it does mean you have to remember to close the clasp before you drop it or it could still flap open.

The only disappointment for me was the lack of smart opening/unlocking the phone as you open the case. This means you have to press the power button to wake the device which does take a very firm press – the thick bumper means there is a connecting button within the case which is stiff and doesn’t seem very easy to press in the right place to get it to work at the moment but it may improve with use.

The other buttons are stiff too. The mechanism for taking off the flap and fitting the fill in section is a wee bit fiddly at first and may not be the most robust. It’s a shame it’s not a magnetic system or something so it could be a bit quicker and easier but again the flap and case feel secure in either mode so it is doing it’s job.

I definitely feel like I could drop the phone in this case (with the front secured properly) and it wouldn’t get damaged. The thick bumpers and solid (if ever so slightly thick) front would protect the phone from all angles and I really feel it is a good safe case.

It’s just a shame the front isn’t magnetic – a combination of the clasp and magnetic closure would be best in my view – fairly safe if you forget the clasp and super safe if you remember the clasp. It does look a wee bit utilitarian as well but I actually like the styling – it’s quite a subtle and stealthy kind of look like tactical hardware type stuff but with an air of smarter business wear too.

It wouldn’t look out of place anywhere basically. It also works fine with full front and rear Screenknight screen protectors (which are the best protectors for curved screens imo) and doesn’t catch any edges so you can still be protected that way as well.

It even comes in a nicely presented box (with nice magnetic closure I might add!) With good clear instructions using pictures so they can be understood by anyone. I was tempted by one of the other cases which clips around the phone 360 degrees but was put off by the difficulty in removing the device and the need to remove the screenknight protectors to get it to fit.

I like to swap cases for different occasions so this works well as 2 in 1. Well worth the price for a bit of peace of mind when out and about with an expensive and fragile phone.

It looks and feels good. I like that it’s not slippery in hands or on any surfaces. It’s thin, but it adds a bit of bulk on the sides making phone appear wider and changing original proportion of sides.

With this case you lose thin edge appearance of your phone, but it gives much better grip. Back side with pattern looks amazing, my case is in white and phone is also in white, – so together it creates beautiful depth and decent look.

I like openings for audio jack and charger – they wide enough so any wire can be connected (I had problem with other cases in past), and at the same time those openings covered with enough thickness of the case bumper itself, so they are nicely protected.

I am very happy with this case, I would say it’s the best money investment in phone protection in my life so far. But I won’t lie, in the beginning it felt unusual compare to other cases I had before, all because of extra width added on the sides.

I am bit worried that it might turn yellowish in future, but I will keep using it until it’s gonna lose it’s look. So far, I didn’t drop it not even once (thanls God!). I think I’ve been using it for about 2 months now.

In past I used to drop my phone quite often. I think it has to do with better grip also. For my future phones I’ll definitely try tech21 cases again.

This is by far the best case on the market. This is my third case for this phone. My phone is lasting forever as its well protected. I particularly like the magnetic closure which is full-length of the phone so it doesn’t have a small strap closure that gets caught when slipping in and out of pocket.

I am only sorry they no longer make it for my particular phone. I will definitely be seeking another one out when I upgrade my phone.

I can (and have) literally throw my phone, corner-first, onto a hard surface, and the phone will take no damage. The case itself will eventually take damage with repeated impacts over the course of time, and eventually need to be replaced.

But after two years of rough treatment, if I have to purchase a new protector case and the phone is still in near-perfect condition, that only means the case is doing its job perfectly. In fact, the only reason I’m having to buy a new protector case is because my current case has absorbed/blocked so much damage over two years that the hard-plastic corners have broken off, and as a result the case is having a hard time staying on the phone.

This product rightly deserves to be at the top of it’s class, along with the legendary Otter case – except that Otter cases are very bulky, and this Speck case is slim and keeps a low profile, while offering the same protection.

Which in my opinion makes it superior even to Otter.

Speck is a company that I have always trusted over the years for many different devices. I have tried other products and none have been able to stand the test of time in strength and durability. My wife still has an S7, when I’m on an S10+ and has a Speck Presidio case.

The same case has been on her phone for other three years. The grip is getting worn down and the little rubber part that goes over the charging port is ripped but it’s better than any other we could have purchased.

Onto this product! The grips go in sort of a V pattern and lines to make it easy to hold and it doesn’t slip from many surfaces. The case is a strong plastic with rubber parts that are in the corners and rubber lined throughout the entire case inside.

I have tried UAG and other cases but this seems to have more protection throughout. An old Speck case was run over by a car when it fell out of my pocket when riding a bike. The phone fell face down so the screen broke, but still operable, and the case was in perfect condition.

The packaging of the case will ensure that there will be no damage to the product in shipping and the case is snug mounted inside to be plucked off. These products do come with a lifetime warranty and Speck stands behind their products in case there is a malfunction or flaw in the design.

I would buy this product over and over again because it’s more reliable and in a compact design. I don’t like Otterboxes because of the thickness and other products don’t seem to be able to handle falls, which I tend to do quite often.

I would recommend this case, and any Speck case, to others that are look for something that will last. The cases are a little more expensive than the cheap, poor quality brands that are on the internet but save yourself some frustration and a broken phone to get one of these.

Despite being shown as opaque in product photos here on Speck’s website and various third-party carriers who use manufacturer images, these cases are translucent. Now this goes without saying for the Clear + Gold case, which is very obviously clear-ish (it’s not really clear, but it is translucent – people just use words however they want now), but note how the gold version is depicted over a black phone.

Ironically, it is clearly shown as being “see-through”; you can make out the black phone beneath the case. But when you click on the pink or purple variations, not only does the description by the circles change from “Clear/[Color] Glitter” to “Bella Pink with Gold Glitter” & “Geode Purple with Gold Glitter”, the photos change too – you can no longer see the black phone beneath the case in any of the purple or pink colorway images.

This is because the images are not of the actual cases at all, but rather are mock-ups. The packaging of these cases even says “CLEAR+GLITTER”, and boy are they ever, but the website would lead you to believe that there’s nothing clear about the purple/pink versions.

Even the glitter itself is inaccurately photoshopped – including the gold case. It’s presented as varying in size, w/ larger shiny pieces glittering like the perceived view of planets among myriad tiny stars.

But nope, the real-life version just has uniformly-sized tiny bits – so tiny in fact, that it’s actually hard to tell in most light that they’re gold. Since I’m a strictly silver girl, that part works for me, but regardless it’s yet another misrepresentation of the product.

So what this ultimately means, besides Speck not seeming to care about product integrity or representation, is that if you have a black phone, these won’t look very good, and if you have, say, a purple phone, it will not look good with any variation but the purple case.

Also, any logos, text, stickers, or serial numbers on the back of your phone will be visible beneath these unclearly-clear cases.

The case broke in one fall from 3 feet. I had one week. The plastic is cheap around edges of the phone. This almost seems like a fake. I had the same style case before. And was made much better. With silicone insert and durable shell.

This was not as nice. Dont recommend this case.

I love this case!! I had the original one that I bought when I got my phone 3 years ago and I never really liked it, but it sufficed. I recently took the case off my phone and realized that my case of 3 years had a crack in it.

Thus, the new case. I love it. It fits my Google Pixel 2 XL perfectly. I like the gripso much better than the old case and it is so much prettier, making my phone look brand new. I accidentally dropped my phone today while I was shopping.

It landed on the cement flooring. When I picked it up it was as if it had never fallen.

I suffer from severe Type A Hemophilia And my hands are but crippled from years of bleeds to my hands. I can’t hold the glassy smooth Galaxy S8 surface. And I’ve dropped my phone 5 times already and the first two broke around the edges.

I learned about tech 21 and how they protect phones during drops. The majority of drops land on the edges and this case does it the best when it comes to protecting that. I’ve dropped my phone 3 times now and this thing is awesome and I have no damage to my phone whatsoever and that’s what I like the best.

it protects your phone really well, and is designed well and feels good in your hands and has a nice sturdy grip to it. Plus you have a ton of different styles and colors to fit your need. They also work well with full screen savers and regular screen savers so you get the best of both worlds.

If you have a chance to get one for a good price don’t hesitate these are worth the money. and you’ll be happy to know that your phone is protected by one of the best cases in the business.

I purchased the 7-edge case and it’s great. Slim but offers a lot of protection and its well made. It will definitely hold up for years. I bought this to replace my old tech21 case (same model) bc it had really protected my phone all these years.

It’s the best case and it feels like its even been improved upon. I also highly recommend getting a screen protector. You can still scratch your screen if you use the card holder inside. If you put a card there it will dull the screen area it contacts area with scratches over time.

For screen protectors i recommend getting the “skin” kind. I love this case. I couldnt decide between sticking with another black or getting the pink with rose gold. I got the pink. No regrets.

Over the years I’ve had MANY phones and cases and never cracked a screen. I bought an S21 Ultra and wanted a simple black case so I went with this one. My phone took a 2 foot tumble out of bed and now has a cracked screen.

This case is garbage with zero protection. It’s also starting to peel around the edges after two weeks of use. Don’t buy this unless you enjoy wasting money and replacing screens.

The glitter bubbles look beautiful and the case is strong. My hands have problems gripping at times, this case is slick and has slipped out of my hands. The protection has been great to the phone. I would like a thicker rubber edging for grip.

Quality of the case is strong no cracks or breakage!.

My case started leaking droplets of the fluid that’s inside the case onto my brand new phone. I only had the case for a week and I didn’t drop it or hit it or anything. I treat my phone like my baby.

And when I contact customer service and sent the receipt it already took almost a week to hear back from them and Then they respond asking for video/pictures which I sent. Hopefully they send another case or something And it doesn’t take forever because I really Loved the look of the case but I can’t use it because I fear it will damage my phone!.

First off, this case provides great protection. The ends are raised enough so that the screen does not touch when placed face down on a table, desk, etc. The case also looks great and feels very comfortable in my hand.

The first issue I found is that the buttons on the sides are very hard to push with the case on. There is almost no feedback that the button has even been pushed. Luckily, the screen also turns on when double tapped, so turning on is not the issue.

Turning off is if you don’t want to wait for the screen to timeout. The second issue was the show-stopper and what made me stop using the case. The case pushes just enough on my screen protector that I have to push extremely hard to make the phone respond.

Due to curved nature of the screen and the edges and the screen protector, there is already a slight air gap. This case seems to make the air gap worse and response becomes sluggish. All in all, the case is very good and I admit that it could just as easily be my screen protector as the case causing the second issue.

Fit is excellent. Protection is excellent. I bought green because I’m always forgetting my phone. Buy this if you want quality. Don’t forget to purchase a good stickey screen protector. Lastly the holster clip is the best! I tear the clip up long before the case and this holster is bullet proof.

The Galaxy 8 + case was absolutely perfect! It fit snug and gave me confidence that if I dropped it I wouldn’t worry too much. I also have a Galaxy J7 not as expensive as the the 8+ but with a EVOCEL case on and dropped it I would say less than 6 or 7 times right on the concrete in my garage and it didn’t hurt my phone at all.

That’s why I continue to buy from EVOCEL. Don’t be stupid get a EVOCEL. it’s kool and it saves you money protecting your phone.

I had them for my iPhones and now I am using them for my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. They fit perfectly, offer great protection against drops, and they look cool enough to show off.

I’ve been looking for this case for a while and kept buying cheap copies. Trust me. the extra 10 dollars is worth it. Great cast, very nice looking. It’s durable and stylish, you can place your phone in the case either frontwards or backwards.

It give a nice little weight to your phone and makes your phone much easier to carry.

I went through lots of phone cases and this is far most the best I have used. I left my phone sitting on top of my truck and pulled off going about 40mph. When went back to get my phone I realized that everything was still in tack.

Case cover did not break and it also protected my phone from cracking.

This is my second one. The first one was great, but it broke after a year. (My fault). The new one seems equal in quality, but I have to have a small screwdriver to pry the mini stand open until it wears a little.

By far the best solution for “MY” s8+. Have yet to find compatible case and screen protector combination from several top expensive brands. Tried LifeProof’s own OtterBox Defender and Commuter with their Alpha-Glass twice, but couldn’t handle edges lifting and lint collecting underneath.

From memory/ opinion the Fre is smaller than Defender and includes built in screen protector. Feels similar in size to Commuter. I am 6′ 3″ 240lbs and it is jean and cargo pants pocket friendly. The contour of screen protector isn’t perfect and there is a tactile/audible gap between display and plastic that’s most noticeable above curves.

It can be annoying especially if not used to it. Wife and daughter don’t appreciate the benefits vs. annoyance. Lint does collect between screen protector and case bezel which Lifeproof could surely remedy easily by placing bead of adhesive along it.

That being said; it’s my favorite solution. I frequently am in dusty and sandy environments, but have “no worries ” about anything getting into ports, microphones, and speakers. Audio is clear and communication isn’t hindered at all by construction.

Notifcation vibration isn’t dampened much if any. Charges wirelessly in landscape orientation without effort with both Samsung’s 2016 and 2017 fast upright, wireless chargers. Portrait orientation requires some sweet spot search efforts with 2016 model, but works fine with extra coils in 2017 convertible version.

I like holsters, but didn’t take advantage of 50% Lifeproof accessories discount because I believe, possibly mistakenly, that adhesive mount would interfere with wireless charging Screen protector is visibly clear and unobtrusive with most images , but what I imagine are anti-glare properties become visible on white, or light colored backgrounds.

I may add Samsung OEM film screen protector to fill some of physical gap. All in all “MY ” best solution to keep s8+ in perfect condition all the while enjoying any of this beast’s features. Would be “5 stars” if wasn’t for physical gap between display and screen protector.

3 weeks case ownership, and don’t foresee changing until Note 8. Hoping Lifeproof offers similar for Note 8!??? Enjoy!.

This is my second life proof case both for the samsung S8. If you want something stylish this is not the case for you. It is not ugly either. But if you want a case thaT can take a beating then you want this case.

I do blue color work and and a outdoorsman and this case fits my needs. It can take falls with no problems can use my phone in the rain with no problem and keeps my phone clean. In the summer I go the beach,lake, and pool almost all the time and I am more then comfortable with this case in the water and used it to take pictures.

Now the weak points about this case. My first one the buttons that control the volume and on/off button eventually broke which is very annoying because you have to take the case off to use the buttons and that is very annoying and the case is almost useless at that point.

But it will still protect. The other thing the door that covers the charging port can become worn out and open on it is own. The case will still protect but it is not waterproof no more and just water resistant.

The other thing you have to be careful is the door that protects the earphone port can be lost. The case will still protect but no longer water proof and just water resistant. I paid 80. 00 for the first one and just paid 15.

00 for the second one. That is why I bought it the second time. My recommendation is this case if great for the summertime or if you work in a marina or anywhere around water or on a construction site or outdoors.

For me I will use this case this upcoming summer and use a wireless charger at night to cut down the wear and tear on the charging port door. In the winter time for me. I will use an otterbox and tampered glass cover for my phone.

My time outdoors is cut down big time. Now is it worth the 80. 00- 110. 00 for it?? WELL like I said if you work outdoors doing blue collar work like a construction site or if you work by the water. Fisherman,aquarium,lifeguard, marina worker.

To protect a 800. 00 phone yes I think you be nuts not to. For me it is a great case for the summer. And not needed for the cold weather. The reason why I bought it the second time around is my phone is considered obsolete.

lol. So the prices have come way down. I have learned buying a phone is like buying a car. Buy something new and accessories are threw the roof. Buy something new but not the latest model and prices on accessories come way down to almost nothing.

This is the second Lifeproof case I have owned for a Galaxy S – series phone. The first for my S6 was fine and worked adequately. This case, for my S9 is however so bad it makes the phone nearly unusable.

The screen cover sits a millimeter or so above the actual screen and is curved. When you go to touch the screen to make inputs, that “springy” depression of the cover before it contacts the actual glass screen creates unpredictable, incorrect results.

More often than not, the phone just can not read ANYTHING. You can just forget any “Swiping” motion. that will never read correctly. For the same reason, I guess, the fingerprint reader on the back is rendered nearly inoperable.

I have to press my finger on the Bio-reader pad 30 times with significant force to get it to read once. You can actually see that the plastic over the bio reader is distorted. ANY input on the face side of the screen near an edge Top, Bottom, curved right or curved left is absolutely going to at best result in an undesired action, but most of the time, it is just ignored and nothing happens.

I emailed Lifeproof (Otterbox) from their website to see if mine might just be a defective unit versus a really bad design. I have not had so much as an acknowledgement that they received the inquiry.

I can only assume it is a DESIGN and MANUFACTURE problem with the Lifeproof Case for the Samsung Galaxy S9 in general. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CASE and will replace mine even though it is only 2 weeks old.

This case is great and thin. I only wanted a case to protect the back of the phone from getting scratched. Does the job! It doesn’t provide protection for the screen

Nice back cover, slighthly grippy in the right conditions and covers all edges, however offers very little front cover, if you drop your 650 phone face down from waist height you can pretty much say goodbye to your screen, style over protection in my opinion, have a good day!.

Best case for s8 definitely worth the money and looks awesome.

Good quality case which works well with charge leads. I use a mounted case instead of a bike satnav and it’s great. With so many fitment options, it’s easy to adapt when you replace either your phone or your bike.

although its made very good and rugged the power and volume buttons are horrible at times you will be pressing and it wont do a thing. charging port could have been better quite you cant put the charging cable in.
